i have a long-percolating theory that the thing that people call "puzzles" in video games actually fall into 2 categories, puzzles and what I call riddles. A puzzle is a knowable quantity, an explorable space, a self sustaining ecosystem. A riddle expands outside the space of the game into a space of poetry and external associations, asking you to make connections and experience an authentic epiphany.
I use The Witness as an example, usually, because it has both. The zones that give you screens with all the information on them, the swamp lab, the treehouses, those are puzzles. The zones that ask you to form connections outside of the screens, the apple orchard, the desert temple, the fucking jungle, those are riddles. The dichotomy isn't perfect, like the mountainside flower bunker has elements of both simultaneously, but I think it mostly holds.
Anyways, sometimes I open a box expecting a puzzle game and I get a riddle game instead, and that's why I didn't like Outer Wilds.

To save the king, you must first break the curse. A very compact and concise film, but weak on the soundtrack and dialogue. Too many unnecessary monologues.

The Kingâs Honour
16+ | Magical Realism, Historical Fiction, Romance | Directed by Niki Lauda
This is a truly a soulless and uninspired chickenshit explotation of queerness and the use of fantastical elements in a desperate attempt to prop up a flailing script that falls flat. Calling this âmagical realismâ is an insult to Gabriel GarcĂa MĂĄrquezâs memory.
Every single element of this film is subpar at best, lacking in colour and substance and a solid foundation of existence. While one would think the landscape the film is shot in, the Scotland highlands, would improve the viewing, but somehow the cinematography is so terrible, it is just another way everything and everyone gets lost. It is a backdrop of breathtaking opportunity and they donât simply drop the ball but not even bother to pick it up. There is little to no directional awareness in the camera work and the script and the honestly incoherent cinematic flow of this piece. There is not even a NOD to authenticity of any kind, even on a satirical level as that would require a modiqum of thought not seen here.
I could not call this a categorical fail at hubris because I truly can not fathom what Lauda was aiming for here in this production. If someone held a gun to by head and told me to guess the director of this film correctly, my husband would be receiving my life insurance payout in the morning. How the mighty have fallen.
Everyone is a take away from a cigarette break, a sudden career exit, or at some points, a cliffâs face. And in knowing this, it is the only way I feel even remotely connected to what I see on screen.

REVIEW ROUND UP OF SILO SEASON 2
"Fergusonâs ability to express and create relatability through subtle shifts of emotion draws us in while being notably striking in scenes where Juliette is forced to confront the stark reality sheâs in." - https://collider.com/silo-season-2-review/
"Ferguson -- who also serves as an executive producer -- spends a lot of her screen time exploring and reacting. Juliette's more of a vessel for Solo's backstory, working as the audience's eyes. But Ferguson takes these tasks and makes them earth-shattering. In the first season...played Juliette as crafty and defiant. This time around, she keenly makes Juliette frightened and unsure of herself, aligning with her discomfort in a brand-new environment. There are many scenes where she doesn't speak a word -- including in the first episode -- but her expressive fear adds a life-or-death element that gives her journey higher stakes." - https://www.cbr.com/silo-apple-tv-season2-review/
"...The Mission: Impossible star is more than up to the task of acting determined and showing physical strength when her character enters a silo thatâs seen better days. Here, Ferguson puts her action skills to use, from swinging on ropes to plummeting to watery depths...Ferguson commands the screen regardless. She doesnât need pages of dialogue to reflect Julietteâs resourcefulness, fear, or even hope...Rebecca Ferguson is more than up to the task of the physically demanding role, all the while conveying Julietteâs fear and determination in new surroundings. - https://www.ign.com/articles/silo-season-2-review-rebecca-ferguson-apple-tv-plus
"The performances are outstanding, including Fergusonâs portrayal of Juliette, which brings vulnerability and determination few can match on the small screen. She single-handedly carried the first season, but possibly due to scheduling, she is apart from the rest of the cast this season. Still, her scenes with Zahn demonstrate internal struggles that feel authentic and relatable." - https://fandomwire.com/silo-season-2-review-rebecca-ferguson-is-riviting-in-a-gripping-science-fiction-adventure-series-firing-on-all-cylinders/
"Ferguson once again gives a stunning performance, not least in the first episodes of the season which see her faced with unimaginable horrors - but it's her dynamic with Zahn that takes the cake as the most intriguing element of the season." - https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/silo-season-2-review-apple/
"As ever, this is Rebecca Ferguson's show, and she's as hypnotic as ever. Juliette's intensity is matched only by her desire to know and fix things, and it's a tremendous joy to see such a capable and driven character on screen. Her frustrations are palpable, and at every turn I wanted for her to succeed." - https://toisto.net/silo-season-2-review-apple-tv-plus/
"Ferguson again shines in the role, embracing its intense physical and emotional demands." - Â https://www.empireonline.com/tv/reviews/silo-season-2/
"Even if she's not front-and-centre on an episode by episode basis, Rebecca Ferguson's shadow still looms of the entire production, and she's a great protagonist, tough as nails but still not invincibly invulnerable, and a compelling lead to take us through the more treacherous survival sci-fi moments." - https://www.avforums.com/reviews/silo-season-2-review-2024-apple-tv-tv-show.22221/
"Juliette, under Fergusonâs carefully controlled performance, has morphed from an unassuming citizen to a leader intent on learning the truth." - https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/silo-season-2-review-apple-tv-plus
"The best part, however, of the series, as always, is its performance. Rebecca Ferguson takes a backseat this season, out on a dangerous new adventure that brings her close to some shocking truths and a few interesting people. Most of her time is spent fixing things around but she is still great in her scenes." - https://www.leisurebyte.com/silo-season-2-review/
"A commanding performance from Rebecca Ferguson makes it a dystopian future worth staying in" - https://www.gamesradar.com/entertainment/sci-fi-shows/silo-season-2-review-a-commanding-performance-from-rebecca-ferguson-makes-it-a-dystopian-future-worth-staying-in/
"Packed with great turns from Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Robbins, Common, and the entire cast, this sophomore season of Silo is a solid continuation." - https://www.joblo.com/silo-season-2-tv-review-rebellion-is-brewing-in-the-dystopian-dramas-sophomore-run/

Day 2 of @bunny-is-cute AppleHuskerDust Week: Date Night For 3
Husk was getting ready for the date he'd arranged for his boyfriends Angel Dust and Lucifer Morningstar. He was currently wearing a gold trim tuxedo from his Overlord days. He spritzes on his favorite cologne and starts to head up to the roof of the hotel, where he'd arranged for his boyfriends to meet him for their date.
Once on the roof, Husk prepares the catered food on a table he'd brought up earlier that day when Alastor hadn't needed him. With a final touch, he lights the candles and settles in to wait. A few minutes later, Angel and Lucifer arrive.
Angel was wearing a sparkly gold dress that came down to his ankles. The dress itself was low cute to show his chest fluff and was skin tight. On his feet were matching gold high heel boots. Angel was wearing a string of faux pearls and his makeup was clearly visible.
Lucifer was wearing one of his usual white suits. His hair was slicked back and his apple cane was nowhere in sight. He fidgets, seeing how fancy Angel and Husk are compared to him.
Husk walks over to Lucifer and kisses his cheek. âYou look perfect. Just the way you are.â He reassures.
Lucifer relaxes and blushes gold at the kiss before smiling brightly. âThanks, Husk. You always know just what to say to help me or Angel feel better.â
Husk grins at this before gesturing to the table. âReady to eat?â
âWhat? I don't get a compliment on my outfit, Husky?â Angel asks, teasing lightly with a grin.
Husk snorts and smirks back. âYour outfit and you are hot and you damn well know it, Angel.â
Angel chuckles as he and Lucifer take their offered seats. Husk gets a bottle of wine and pours them a glass each. Angel looks on in awe at the Italian food Husk had had catered. The wine Husk had chosen was commandaria wine, the oldest known in the world.
Lucifer takes a sip of wine and looks at Husk in surprise. âCommandaria. You found a bottle?â
Husk chuckles as he dishes out the food. âYeah. It wasn't that hard. Only took a bit of research too.â He answers as he places plates in front of Lucifer and Angel before sitting down to eat.
âAfter we eat, how about heading to my mansion and binge watching movies?â Lucifer suggests before biting into a piece of eggplant parmesan.
âHusk's favorite is The Godfather.â Angel informs as he digs into a bowl of Fettuccine Alfredo.
âAlright. I like that plan. Binging The Godfather trilogy after dinner at my mansion.â Lucifer says.
Husk smiles as he eats his grilled plum and pancetta panzanella salad, looking forward to watching his favorite movie with his favorite people. Angel takes a sip of wine and hums in surprise at the flavor compared to his pasta. Lucifer chuckles at Angel's reaction as they all eat.
After they finish eating, Husk gathers the dishes to send down to Niffty later on and blows out the candles. Lucifer stands and stretches, taking a moment to let his food settle before they head out. Angel sits back and sighs in content.
âWhatever place you got the food from, Husk, I definitely approve! They make real authentic Italian food.â Angel comments.
Husk grins at this. âGood. Glad you liked it that much. That place will be my go-to, then, for when any or all of us want Italian.â
Lucifer chuckles before creating a portal to his mansion. âReady to go?â
Angel and Husk stand, Husk cracking his back. Angel steps through first, followed by Husk. Lucifer follows after them, the portal closing behind him. They step out into the home theater of Lucifer's palace mansion.
âI'm gonna go get changed out of this.â Angel says as he heads to their shared bedroom.
Lucifer looks at Husk. âDid you want to go get comfortable too? We can even make it into a pajama date.â
Husk hums in thought before nodding and kissing his cheek. âThat's a great idea. Be right back.â He says before following Angel.
Lucifer sets about turning on the screen and putting on the first movie. He snaps his fingers to instantly change into duck themed pajamas. He settles in to wait for Angel and Husk to return.
Husk and Angel soon walk back in, wearing their nightclothes. Angel was wearing a light T-shirt and shorts. Husk was wearing a pair of heart pajama pants. They join Lucifer on the lounge sofa.
Lucifer smiles as they sit together, Husk in the middle. He turns on the movie and curls next to Husk to watch. Husk wraps his arms and wings around Lucifer and Angel, relaxing between them, as he settles in to watch the first of his favorite movies.

Adaptation Concept: The âFurther Up & Further Inâ Approach
I donât believe there is one right way to adapt The Chronicles of Narnia to screen, but there is a version of the series adapted to television that has been spinning around my mind, and Iâve finally started trying to put it into words.
I call it âfurther up & further inâ here, but other ways I would describe it are âa slow zoom out,â and âunfolding.â
It feels very storybook to me. I think it is a tone that is very reflective of the voice with which Lewis wrote the books, and though I believe the series can be adapted with the same faithfulness to the books without carrying that exact voice, this does create a very soft atmosphere for the series that does my heart good.
The series would contain a Lewis-esque narrator. Most of the narration, of course, would be simply shown on screen rather than said in voiceover, but the narrator would introduce each new story with the opening lines of the book. Where applicable, he would read the closing lines as well. And, of course, some of the most significant Lewis-isms (you know those bits??? those extra soft bits of narration that bring the story to life?? the cry of the seagulls?? have you heard it?? can you remember??) would be spoken over the series whenever necessary.
(Similar examples: the Focus on the Family Radio Theatreâs approach of combining narration with action + sometimes turning narration into dialogue. Netflixâs âA Series of Unfortunate Eventsâ also does this well.)
The good thing about a television series as compared to movies is that it has more time to explore things without losing pace.
I think for many of us, this means weâd love to see more details that werenât explicitly on the page: characters and relationships that donât get much page-time are fleshed out; events that were summarized are given more time to unfold; just an authentic exploration of things the books didnât have time to explore. (Yes, I know thatâs scary when you donât trust the writer. But this is all Hypothetical. Weâre being idealists here.)
I want that, too. But hereâs where the âslow zoom outâ idea comes in.
Each book opens very focused on the POV of one character. For MN, this is Digory. For LWW, itâs Lucy. For H&HB, Shasta. For SC, Jill. For LB, Tirian. (In PC I think all the Pevensies will open with equal focus, since we have met them all before, whereas in VotDT Iâm a little torn between opening on Ed & Lu because theyâre familiar, or Eustace, because the beginning narration is focused on him first. Potentially the 3 of them will share focus.)
As they meet and interact with more characters, however, the story unfolds, and we become privy to new POVs.
MN, for example: Once Digoryâs blossoming friendship with Polly is established, we get to see scenes from her perspective. The more time Digory spends with his family, the more we see whatâs going on with them when heâs not around. Some details (what exactly Uncle Andrew is up to, for example) are still held back until the necessary reveal, of course, but that doesnât preclude us from seeing some of his perspective before that. When the children come back with Jadis, we can see her and Uncle Andrewâs outing. When they run into Frank, we are introduced to his perspective, too: perhaps a flashback to that morning, him saying goodbye to Helen on his way to work, and thus introducing us to her & their relationship before she is called to Narnia. And by the time we get to Narnia, we are able to cut between all these characterâs experiences: Digory & Pollyâs quest for the apple, Uncle Andrewâs unfortunate experience with the animals, AND Frank & Helenâs impending coronation.
See, the beginning of the story is closed in: we are introduced to it through Digoryâs eyes, and we donât know what other characters are doing in the same time frames. As the story develops, however --- (âfurther up and further in!â) --- we get to see more.
This means some scenes will be framed as âmeanwhileâ or âearlier that morningâ or âto answer that we need to look back...â but I think that matches aspects of Lewisâ storytelling.
When it comes to Caspianâs story in PC, or Aravisâ in H&HB, this means they are introduced only as they are introduced in the books. It also means that, since the Narrator doesnât tell those stories himself, their introductions/flashbacks are narrated by whoever tells the story in the books. (Trumpkin does Caspianâs voiceover. Aravis does her own. I suppose Glimfeather does Rilianâs, while weâre on the subject.)
(In LB, all the Friends of Narnia try to tell Tirian their story together. Sometimes they interrupt one another. But with this, we get to experience their adventures in England from the dinner up to the train crash.)
Once Caspianâs story is introduced to the Pevensies in PC, he becomes a POV character; now we get to cut between his scenes and theirs. As he deals with Miraz, we get perspectives into Mirazâs life and plans. As we spend time with Miraz, we get to learn of Glozelle & Sopespianâs schemes. (Contrast this to the Disney film: they introduced Caspian first, and then sent the Pevensies to Narnia earlier in order to involve them in more of the action. By introducing Caspian only as heâs introduced in the books, they donât need to be there earlier; Caspianâs story is revealed to us only when it is revealed to them.)
Those are a few examples; I havenât thought deeply about all the books in this format yet, nor have I finetuned any of them to perfection. Obviously while television series have more time to explore than movies do, they still have their own pacing rules to follow.
But thatâs the gist of this idea. Again: start with a narrow perspective, and reveal more of the story only as our starting characters come to it. It grows like a tree.
Further up & further in.
World within world.
Narnia within Narnia.
#little adaptation ideas#narnia#narflix#netflix narnia#this is a little long but I'm not gonna 'read more' it

Reno let out a long-suffering sigh, wringing out the soaked washcloth into the bucket beside their bed. âYouâre just sick, prettyboy. Now shaddup and let me help you, yo.â He tenderly placed the cool cloth onto the sick manâs forehead, brushing his knuckles against his fever-flushed cheek comfortingly as he retracted his hand. Thinking for a second, Reno picked up his PHS and flipped it open, diverting his attention from Genesis.Â
Genesis let out a feeble cough and sniffled again. He made sure to look as pathetic and sickly as he could. It was most definitely not a way to drum up sympathy and regain attention. Nope. Not at all.
Once again, Reno scanned through the âHow to Care for a Sick Personâ article that he had Moogled. His brows furrowed slightly as he scrolled, brightness from the screen of the PHS illuminating his face in the dim room. He flipped it shut, stowing it and going over the information in his head. âSoâŚ.umâŚ.chicken noodle soupâŚ.two ibuprofenâor was it three? Every six hours? Yeah, and a cool cloth, done thatâŚ.what elseâŚ.letâs jusâ go with it,â Reno mumbled to himself.
Genesis propped himself up against the pillows so he could better look at his boyfriendâskeptically, of course. âWho are you talking to? And can I get another tissue, mother dearest?â He requested, voice hoarse. Reno rolled his eyes, but passed a tissue into the awaiting hand. Genesis blew his nose aggressively and crumpled up the used tissue. He tried (and failed) to toss it into the wastebasket at the foot of the bed. Reno reached down and picked it up gingerly, dropping it in the bin.Â
Throat irritated from blowing his nose, Genesis coughed once, then twice, and suddenly his whole body was overcome with a violent fit of wheezing coughs. Reno waited for the hacking to subside, then grabbed the glass of water on the nightstand. He brought it to Genesisâ chapped lips, tilting it back slightly to allow water to trickle into the awaiting mouth.
âThankâŚyou,â Genesis wheezed, drinking gratefully. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and Reno adjusted the pillows to better prop Genesis up. Reno set the glass back on the table with a low thunk before turning his attention back to the man huddled up under the covers. Sensing the attention being returned to him, an (attempting to be) adorable, pathetic pout came onto Genesisâ face. He burrowed deeper into the duvet, seeking warmth to stave off the chill of fever. âIâm cold, Ren. Cuddle me?âÂ
Wordlessly, the person in question slid under the covers, curling himself around Genesis. Renoâs arms snaked around the otherâs waist, pulling him close. âYouâre very overdramatic, Gen. Yâknow that?â Reno teased lightly. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of Genesisâ head, inhaling the scent of apples that constantly lingered around his partner.
âLove you too,â Genesis grumbled, fumbling around on the side table for another tissue. Upon finding one, he used it and tossed it on the floor.
The sheets rustled as Reno shifted onto his back to lay alongside Genesis. âYou should rest, yo. Thatâs what the article said, at least,â He suggested. Genesis turned his head and gave him a scathing look.Â
âYou Moogled how to take care of me? Am I not worth the time it takes to come up with an authentic, original care routine for your terminally ill boyfriend?â Genesis bemoaned.
âGenesis, itâs a cold. Anâ you sound like that one cat on Stumblr. Mina? Minette? Oh, yeah, Miette!âÂ
Genesis glowered at Reno. âJail to you for one thousand years. And you didnât answer my question.âÂ
âLook, I dunno how to care for a sick person. When Iâve got something, I just take like six aspirin anâ call it a day,â Reno defended.Â
Genesis raised his eyebrows. He coughed, then settled again. âHow are you even still alive?âÂ
âInfinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess.â Reno winked. âNow go to sleep, darling.â
âThatâs notââ Genesis was silenced by a finger over his lips.
âGo to sleep, idiot,â Reno said.
âI stillââ Genesis started, only to be hushed once more.
âSleep now. Youâre not gonna get any better if you donât sleep,â Reno stated once more, gentler this time. âPlease.â
Genesis begrudgingly rested his head on Renoâs shoulder, settling in with a contented sigh. The pair lay awake for a while, but soon enough Genesis began to tire. His eyelids drooped and he let out a yawn, sneezing once more before falling asleep. Slumbering, Genesis shifted slightly and began letting out little snores that he would never admit to producing once awake. Reno smiled softly, looking down at his sickly love. He observed Genesisâ peacefully sleeping face, all smushed up against his shoulder.
âHowâd I ever get so lucky to score a guy like you?â He mused to himself as he lay awake. Soon enough, he too succumbed to the welcoming embrace of sleep.
ââ
The warm glow of the morning sun seeped through the haze surrounding Midgar, filtering through the curtains to lightly dapple the faces of the two sleeping men. Their bodies were entwined, interconnected, together. They did not stir, and, by some miracle, the ailing one had not been roused by congestion or any such thing associated with illness.Â
A breeze from the open window tickled their cheeks. One stirred slightly. The other let out a snore.
All was good, peaceful. For now, they could rest, be loved, take comfort in each otherâs presence.
Together, they could be soft.

Crypto trading mobile app
Designing a Crypto Trading Mobile App involves a balance of usability, security, and aesthetic appeal, tailored to meet the needs of a fast-paced, data-driven audience. Below is an overview of key components and considerations to craft a seamless and user-centric experience for crypto traders.
Key Elements of a Crypto Trading Mobile App Design
1. Intuitive Onboarding
First Impressions: The onboarding process should be simple, guiding users smoothly from downloading the app to making their first trade.
Account Creation: Offer multiple sign-up options (email, phone number, Google/Apple login) and include KYC (Know Your Customer) verification seamlessly.
Interactive Tutorials: For new traders, provide interactive walkthroughs to explain key features like trading pairs, order placement, and wallet setup.
2. Dashboard & Home Screen
Clean Layout: Display an overview of the user's portfolio, including current balances, market trends, and quick access to popular trading pairs.
Market Overview: Real-time market data should be clearly visible. Include options for users to view coin performance, historical charts, and news snippets.
Customization: Let users customize their dashboard by adding favorite assets or widgets like price alerts, trading volumes, and news feeds.
3. Trading Interface
Simple vs. Advanced Modes: Provide two versions of the trading interface. A simple mode for beginners with basic buy/sell options, and an advanced mode with tools like limit orders, stop losses, and technical indicators.
Charting Tools: Integrate interactive, real-time charts powered by TradingView or similar APIs, allowing users to analyze market movements with tools like candlestick patterns, RSI, and moving averages.
Order Placement: Streamline the process of placing market, limit, and stop orders. Use clear buttons and a concise form layout to minimize errors.
Real-Time Data: Update market prices, balances, and order statuses in real-time. Include a status bar that shows successful or pending trades.
4. Wallet & Portfolio Management
Asset Overview: Provide an easy-to-read portfolio page where users can view all their holdings, including balances, performance (gains/losses), and allocation percentages.
Multi-Currency Support: Display a comprehensive list of supported cryptocurrencies. Enable users to transfer between wallets, send/receive assets, and generate QR codes for transactions.
Transaction History: Offer a detailed transaction history, including dates, amounts, and transaction IDs for transparency and record-keeping.
5. Security Features
Biometric Authentication: Use fingerprint, facial recognition, or PIN codes for secure logins and transaction confirmations.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Strong security protocols like 2FA with Google Authenticator or SMS verification should be mandatory for withdrawals and sensitive actions.
Push Notifications for Security Alerts: Keep users informed about logins from new devices, suspicious activities, or price movements via push notifications.
6. User-Friendly Navigation
Bottom Navigation Bar: Include key sections like Home, Markets, Wallet, Trade, and Settings. The icons should be simple, recognizable, and easily accessible with one hand.
Search Bar: A prominent search feature to quickly locate specific coins, trading pairs, or help topics.
7. Analytics & Insights
Market Trends: Display comprehensive analytics including top gainers, losers, and market sentiment indicators.
Push Alerts for Price Movements: Offer customizable price alert notifications to help users react quickly to market changes.
Educational Content: Include sections with tips on technical analysis, crypto market basics, or new coin listings.
8. Social and Community Features
Live Chat: Provide a feature for users to chat with customer support or engage with other traders in a community setting.
News Feed: Integrate crypto news from trusted sources to keep users updated with the latest market-moving events.
9. Light and Dark Mode
Themes: Offer both light and dark mode to cater to users who trade at different times of day. The dark mode is especially important for night traders to reduce eye strain.
10. Settings and Customization
Personalization Options: Allow users to choose preferred currencies, set trading limits, and configure alerts based on their personal preferences.
Language and Regional Settings: Provide multilingual support and regional settings for global users.
Visual Design Considerations
Modern, Minimalist Design: A clean, minimal UI is essential for avoiding clutter, especially when dealing with complex data like market trends and charts.
Color Scheme: Use a professional color palette with accents for call-to-action buttons. Green and red are typically used for indicating gains and losses, respectively.
Animations & Micro-interactions: Subtle animations can enhance the experience by providing feedback on button presses or transitions between screens. However, keep these minimal to avoid slowing down performance.
Conclusion
Designing a crypto trading mobile app requires focusing on accessibility, performance, and security. By blending these elements with a modern, intuitive interface and robust features, your app can empower users to navigate the fast-paced world of crypto trading with confidence and ease.

Untitled Solarpunk Story Excerpt
I pulled something in my back while ironing 2 days ago (yes, really) and I've spent most of my time since trying to sit very very still so it stops spasming.
On the down side, it's kept me from my sewing, baking, and socializing plans. On the plus side, it's been good for storyboarding a short solarpunk story I'd like to get out.
Here's a little piece of it. Mostly a brain dump, very little editing. Also you will never convince me that names aren't going to be absolutely ridiculous in the future. Lean into it.
----
The oxygen mask bumped rhythmically against her left leg as she walked down the narrow passageway. She synced her breathing with her steps, keeping her mind on the brief echo of her footsteps and the bobbing of the light from her headlamp and definitely not on the question of just how much dirt and questionable infrastructure sat above and around her.
2 steps, breathe in. When was the last time a real earthquake had come through?
2 steps, breathe out. When was the last time someone had checked the walls down here?
2 steps, breathe in. How long ago did those cracks show up?
2 steps, breathe out. How long would the air down here last if the air pumps stopped? How long would she last until her tank ran out?
Oliveâs nails bit into her palms, bringing her mind back to the job, and she quickened her pace.
The next section of lights blinked on as she passed the motion sensor. A cold wave of anxiety churned in her stomach at the idea of the now-empty sections behind her going dark, a seemingly endless tunnel of blackness. Even after a decade of working in the pipes, Olive had to force herself not to give in to the ancient instinct whispering urgently for her to run from the dark and whatever watched and waited in it.
Her eyes scanned for the latest section number. Sheâd gone deep enough that she should be getting close to the offshoot. 220Z, 221A, there â 221B. Digging her pad out of her tool bag with one hand, she wiped years of grime off the code beneath the number with her other.
The screen flashed to life and the EcoSphere logo appeared, its 10 colored rings pulsing around the Earth, one for each of the services the utility company oversaw globally. Her foot tapped impatiently as the logo dissolved only to be replaced by the AquaTech sectorâs logo. Her finger was already hovering over the screen as the authentication prompt appeared. She pressed firmly against the screen protector that was already peeling in the corners and WELCOME OLIVE MCGARDEN greeted her.
âCome on, this century already,â she muttered as the pad struggled to find its connection to the wireless this far from the hub.
Finally in the system, she quickly scrolled to her active work order and scanned the code beneath the section number. She made sure the check-in had registered before stowing the pad back in the bag and pushing the old offshoot door open with a resisting creak that echoed down the hall.
She recalled Appleâs teasing when they had received their work orders that morning. Apple was overseeing the installation of the main pipes for the new office wing on the north side of town â âIâll bring you back a bar from the fancy new replicator they just installedâ â with its brightly lit corridors and smooth automatic doors.
Olive, on the other hand, had been assigned to one of the oldest pipe sections on the flow. Not that she minded. Sheâd take grimy doors and stale air over running into whatever found a way to survive just under the subscape any day. Nothing survived this deep in the sections.
Stepping into the offshoot, Olive widened the scope and increased the brightness of her headlamp. The AquaTech system could determine there was an issue in the section, now it was up to her to figure out where it was coming from, what was causing it, and get it fixed. The newer pipe areas could self-service most leak alerts, but the maze of aging pipes and narrower tunnels this far down hadnât been worth the trouble â and cost â to upgrade and so required manual inspection and maintenance whenever a leak alert was picked up.
She spent the next hour walking through the tunnels, looking for puddles and other telltale signs of a leak significant enough to trigger the alert. As the tunnel began branching, she pulled colored flags out of a pocket in her bag and began to mark the forks. Blue for main pipe. Green for first offshoot. Yellow for third. They helped keep the paths organized for future maintenance needs while also making sure she could find her way out when she was done. The fact that there were none down here already here told her she was the first to come down this offshoot in a good, long time.
Expecting the leak to be deeper in the flow grid, she walked past the first dozen branches and picked one at random to begin flagging.
Olive had just pulled out a purple flag to mark the newly found fourth offshoot in her branch when her foot stepped on something soft. Flinching back, she shone her light down where sheâd stepped, expecting to see some long-dead remains. Instead, she found a small green patch of moss.
She strained her hearing, listening around the sound of her pulse knocking in her ears. There it was. A thin but steady dripping noise echoed dimly down the branch towards her.
âFound you.â
She quickened her pace, stopping only to hang a fresh flag as new branches popped up to show her path forward. As she hung the last of her purple flags, she made a mental note to pick up more when she checked back in at HQ later and forged ahead regardless, determined to find the source of the leak after coming so far.
Olive pulled up short as she came to a fifth branch, her head whipping around to stare down the narrow tunnel. Her headlamp showed nothing and yet she could have sworn⌠Taking a deep breath, she turned the light off.
But where she expected suffocating darkness, a dim glow greeted her at the end of the branch and the trickle of water sounded like laughter calling her name.

I have to admit I am still obsessed with the shit script. (And no I don't have it, don't even ask, it appeared to me in a dream about university libraries)
And I am probably alone in this corner, partially because most people haven't read the full thing (understandably), partially because people emphasize certain parts too much and partially bc the fandom pretty unanimously agreed it has to be a certain way BUT script!Crowley isn't half the asshole people make them out to be. Just as script!Aziraphale isn't half that demsel in distress people like to paint them ass.
Yes the most commonly known interactions between the two, that are floating around and that most will have seen are grim to put it lightly BUT there are other parts of the script that can give you a whole different perspective of the characters.
Script!Crowley is an asshole sure, but he is also a character that works if you remember that he is a great a coward. Bro is squirming and bootlicking like a champion, putting up that facade of big bad 'i hate everything' demon while in actuality being a rather incompetent loser. The dialogue doesn't state it but he does care for his employees, to the point of having a show off moment throwing out a person, he as demon should whole heartily want to be there for all the bad they are causing, he even learned his employees names which you wouldn't expect from the persona he otherwise puts on. He even has a sweet moment with madam Tracy, offering her a birthday party and asking her to take care of the boy. So he does care he just would rather run away and hope for the consequences to never catch up to him than to state so openly. Also the one time script!crowley is drunk, he is incredibly docile and not at all like the asshat persona ... So there is that.
And for script! Aziraphale, well people sleep on how sassy this version probably could be if he had more 'screen time' outside of emergency situations. And what I mean by that is the first and the last interaction we get between Azi and Crowley is Azi sassing Crowley. Pointing out that's just like a demon to always be complaining and telling Crowley to not start this again when presented with an apple. Script!Aziraphale is not oblivious, he isn't naive or helpless, he simply chooses to not acknowledge the 'bad' parts (best example Crowley's cheating at checkers). But he also isn't above reminding Crowley about his inherent doomedness of him being a demon or striking a deal with a drunk Crowley while being sober himself. (In a sense script!Azi is exactly what some accuse tv!Azi to be).
In general Script!Crowley only gets nasty if stressed and inturn script!Aziraphale get hurt. Or does he really? (And yes this is just interpretation and since we don't have an acted out version you can interpret a lot into the script sooo uhm take this with as many grains of salt as you can) Again Aziraphale is of the opinion, that Crowley is inherently doomed, excuses his cheating with playing along and gives of the vibe of being at least slightly judgemental about Crowleys drinking habit. He is taking on the role of the Optimist in this version. An optimist that also cares unconditionally about Crowley. An optimist that calls someone giving their floor ice cream to another a good deed while also doing artwork authentication knowing that people just want to scam others. To me it reads more like someone who just knows how to push the other's button. Because without fail (well except the last time ) those emotional responses from Aziraphale lead to Crowley faltering and giving in and usually for Aziraphale to instantly switch moods after. And the one time it doesn't work, Aziraphale digs deep and pushes another button, even going so far as pointing out that he knew all along that Crowley only ever won because he was cheating. That is not a helpless naive damsel. That is an undercover bastard.
I could go on writing a full character analysis from that shit script bc hot damn I got more things to say BUT I won't. Also yes even if it ever got to the screen and with a few edits this version would probably just have been mediocre and I am happy we eventually got the TV show HOWEVER I have a soft spot for bad media, I love good omens and overanalyzing on 'screen' relationship and character dynamics is my hobby so it's just natural I got obsessed with it.
Also please for the love of someone, if there is someone out there at least slightly as obsessed with the shit script as I am, please, please, please get in touch. I have no one to talk about it otherwise pfff
#good omens#good omens shit script#good omens 1992 script#no you can't have it bc i don't have it either#shit script

How to connect VLC on Apple TV to Windows 11's folder share system thingie
Turns out a total of none of the strategies I could find online worked. To the best of my current knowledge, the fix is Windows Settings â Network & Internet â Advanced sharing settings â All networks â Password-protected sharing â Off.
So from what I can tell, there's no (longer a?) need to try all sorts of stuff like enabling SMB1, setting RegEdits / group policies / PowerShell commands, or figuring out the incomprehensible "SMB authentication required" screen thingie.

This was one of the few digital pieces I was able to salvage. Back in 2020, my iPad, had a memory malfunction that only showed the apple logo on screen & nothing else. So I had to do a complete factory reset on it meaning all my artwork on Procreate were wiped out. Note to self: buy an iCloud subscription for godâs sake! đ
So I made this for my brotherâs birthday whose favorite movie is Beauty & the Beast, itâs one of my favorites too! He was confused when I sent it, thinking it was the actual movie until he spotted one detail. One thing you can note to tell this isnât authentic is her blush isnât shaped triangular as Disney princesses blush are!
