i decided to unite my love for maps and for OT and make a map of the distribution of OT contestants from OT 2017 - 2023 in regards to their residence* because i find it so fascinating, like yeah it does kinda follow where major urban centers concentrate but also why is there so little people in valència? so many in iruña specifically? how is that outside madrid the only other OT contestant from castile is from guadalajara from all places???

are you researching about pinochet's dictatorship in general, or a specific topic? It makes me sad but I'm thinking about also researching about it

Hi anon! I'm doing my thesis on Retablo de Yumbel, a play by Isidora Aguirre that talks about the Laja Massacre on 1973 under Pinochet's dictatorship. Sadly most of my sources are in Spanish, but the Rememberance and Human Rights Museum in Chile has an english page with first hand testimony and research on the topic from the 60s to present time.

If you want sources as in books, I can recommend Gabriel Salazar's books on the more historical side. But I am a literature major, and the topics that I have a special interest in are the remembrance and narratives around it, so my recommendations go more by that side

In books that are more "tellings" or fictions "Tengo miedo, Torero" (I'm afraid, my bullfighter) by Pedro Lemebel not only sheds light on the dictatorship by itself, but also on queer issues. Isabel Allende's "House of spirits" is absolutely translated and you *should* read her books. Nona Fernández's "La dimensión desconocida" (Unkown dimension) and "Space Invaders" are two of the more recognized modern books on the topic, which are fairly recent and are translated! So give them a read

If you want outright testimony "Tejas Verdes: diario de un campo de concentración en Chile" (Tejas Verdes: Diary of a concentration camp in Chile) by Hernán Valdés tells his own experience in the detention camp. Is the first testimony book about the time published in Chile and you'll find a lot of important stuff in there. Also books like "Amor, te sigo esperando" (My love, I still wait for you) is a new one about mothers and widows that are still looking for their loved ones who disappeared.

If you want theatre, Retablo de Yumbel is one of my favorite plays ever, but also "Los que van quedando en el camino" (The ones that were left behind on the road) also from Isidora Aguirre. Nona Fernández's "Liceo de Niñas" (Girl's High School), Ariel Dorfman's "La muerte y la doncella" (The death and the lady) (This one is noy only tranlsated but presented around the world. You can absolutely find a copy), and Marco Antonio de la Parra's "La puta madre" (Mother whore) are good reads, but I don't know if they're translated. Also I can recommend Juan Radrigán's work, and Jorge Díaz's.

If you want poetry, Raúl Zurita, Damiela Eltit, Nicanor Parra and Víctor Jara. I'm not much of a poetry guy, but I bet you can find a lot of their work translated.

If you look for art, the obligatory one is Miguel Lawner's "Venceremos!: Dos años en los campod de concentración de Chile" (We will win!: Two years in the concentration camps in Chile) which I know for a fact is translated to at least english and portuguese; those are the drawings that represent different scenes on Dawson Island and other camps were Lawner was. You can also look at the Rememberance and Human Rights museum in Chile with a pretty complete collection of art, both in the recognized art world and clandestine and domestic world.

If you're looking for movies, I think "NO" by Pablo Larraín is a very good watch that talks about the end of the dictatorship. Also "1976" by Manuella Martelli. Honorary mention to "Bear Story" by Gabriel Osorio for being a short film with no dialogue that also tackles the topic.

Also shot out to the series "Los 80" (The 80s), which is a chilean soap opera about a middle class family living through the dictatorship and everything that ensues. It's on Amazon Prime, tho I don't know if it's translated.

If you're looking for documentaries, I think "Colonia dignidad: Una secta alemana en el sur de Chile" (Dignidad Colony: A german cult in the south of Chile) is a very good watch. It's on Netflix and completely in english. Also "ReMastered: Massacre in the National Stadium", also on Netflix, talks about the murder of Víctor Jara (Tho there's new developments on the case). But the ultimate ones are everything that Patricio Guzmán ever did. "La Batalla de Chile" (Chile's battle) a series of 3 documentaries that tell the story of the country between 1972 and 1973 on the historical front. In the remembrance front he has "El botón de nácar" (The nacre button) about Villa Grimaldi and the Death Flights and "Nostalgia for the Light" about the Atacama desert, the concentration camp there and other searchings that were done there.

141 aspirantes a legisladores federales renuncian a sus apoyos económicos

CIUDAD DE MÉXICO * 5 de marzo, 2024. ) Apro Diputadas y diputados que participarán en la elección consecutiva manifestaron su renuncia voluntaria a apoyos económicos, informó la Cámara Baja en un comunicado. La Mesa Directiva informó que 141 legisladores federales que participarán en la elección consecutiva en el proceso electoral 2023-2024 manifestaron su renuncia voluntaria a los apoyos económicos a que tienen derecho. Estos apoyos consisten en asistencia legislativa, atención ciudadana, casa enlace, transporte y hospedaje y tarjeta Viapass para peaje, y dejarán de contar por ellos por el periodo que comprende del 1 de marzo al 2 de junio. De la cifra total, 45 son de Morena, 47 del PAN, 29 del PRI, 19 del PT y uno del PRD. En mi “molesta” opinión.-

"La Radio es como la imaginación: no tiene límites, solo se necesita sintonizar la frecuencia correcta"

El viejo Profesor Javaloyes “nació” (aunque en realidad vive desde antes del comienzo de los tiempos) de casualidad para la Radio que es su medio natural. De la mano y preclara visión de Antonio Adelfo Delgado Núñez, mi compañero de siempre, director y guionista del programa “Tiempo Abierto”. Además fue clave en ese parto José Antonio Pardellas Casas, hombre fundamental en la Radio de Canarias como director de Radio Nacional en el archipiélago y Consejero Delgado de Radio Isla Tenerife posteriormente. Un radiofonista nato con el don particular para detectar el talento solo con escuchar a alguien tras el micrófono por primera vez y brevemente.

Rápidamente se dieron cuenta del enorme potencial y la ponderación que llevaba a cuestas y no me dejaron escapar. Me pusieron chalé con piscina y sauna, coche con chófer, tarjeta de débito Platino con saldo ilimitado, catorce pagas anuales, vacaciones pagadas, bonus, rappels y todo tipo de extras. Tontos no son evidentemente y en una jugada maestra me colocaron (se quitaron de encima) a modo de guardaespaldas, secretario personal, valido y comisario político al codirector, guionista y productor de sonido Alberto Delgado Núñez o lo que es lo mismo; el caos hecho carne y habitando entre nosotros.

En esos años coincidimos con, y conocimos a, muchos compañeros de programas. Jovencitos imberbes, al fin niñas las incipientes hembras y grandes veteranos. En la foto algunos que dejaron este mundo como César Fernández Trujillo, en mi ponderado criterio el mayor y mejor comunicador, todoterreno, polivalente y polifacético que ha dado Canarias nunca y al que nadie igualó antes ni lo ha hecho después. Y Rafaél Zurita, hijo de uno de los grandes periodistas tinerfeños, escritor, aficionado a las tertulias de todo tipo, apasionado en todo lo que hacía y un hombre en esencia bueno.

También están el mencionado Pardellas y justo a su espalda Antonio Adelfo Delgado Núñez . Enrique Cabrera excelente voz de los informativos, el sonriente, honorable y honesto Moisés Díaz Estébanez y Villavicencio. Pedro Anatael Meneses Roqué, vocacional polemista y hasta la pasada legislatura senador por el PSOE. Su némesis ideológica, el divertido Paco Pallero, coronel de infantería retirado y licenciado en Ciencias de la Información. Y justo debajo de él y en quién apoya sus brazos, el permanentemente caótico Alberto Delgado Núñez justo a mi lado, marcando siempre de cerca al viejo Profesor Javaloyes.

Pero también recuerdo a otros que por diferentes circunstancias no estaban presentes en esta foto. Nardi Sáez, Francisco Almagro, Machanga Chanchy Núñez, Suso Tejera, Gonzalo Castañeda, Teddy Fernández, Irma Cervino, Juan Nuñez, Eva Rodríguez, Verónica Villa, Carlos del Toro, Alberto Balbín, Sergio Montesino Fotógrafo de Historias o María Jesús León Ledesma entre otros muchos a los que tampoco olvido

Toda esta memoria para decir que, al igual que los viejos elefantes cuando presienten el pálpito de que su última hora llega se dirigen en solitario a morir junto a los restos de antiguos camaradas que les precedieron en la manada, el viejo Profesor Javaloyes, que nació en la Radio de la que lleva apartado voluntariamente casi tres lustros, sabe que sus postreros momentos en este mundo se acercan y que su último suspiro será casi inevitablemente… en la Radio.

El Real Madrid venció in extremis (0-1) al Deportivo Alavés en la jornada 18 de LaLiga EA Sports celebrada en Mendizorroza, un partido que se le fue atragantando al cuadro blanco, con pocas ocasiones ni muy fiable atrás, más el hándicap de la roja a Nacho Fernández, pero que resolvió Lucas Vázquez en el minuto 92.

El menudo defensor se ganó el abrazo de todos sus compañeros con el pitido final después de conectar un cabezazo en un saque de esquina como artífice de los tres puntos. Los de Carlo Ancelotti aprovecharon así, sobre la bocina, el empate del Girona en el turno anterior, 1-1 ante el Real Betis, para colocarse líderes.

Los blancos, empatados a 45 puntos con los catalanes pero en primera posición, despidieron el 2023 en lo más alto a pesar de jugar con uno menos desde el minuto 54. Nacho, como ante el Girona precisamente, midió mal y cazó a Samu por detrás: el VAR avisó y el árbitro cambió la amarilla por la roja. Sin embargo, el Madrid sacó el gen competitivo e incluso mejoró jugando con 10.

Los de la capital salvaron una trampa que se había gestado poco a poco en Mendizorroza. Y eso que, en el primer minuto, entre Brahim y Fede Valverde generaron la primera ocasión visitantes, con el uruguayo llegando al mano a mano con Sivera, aunque algo escorado. Pese a eso, el Alavés fue quien llegó con facilidad, con juego por bandas entre Rebbach y Luis Rioja.

Los de Luis García Plaza se plantaron bien atrás y además supieron salir con peligro ante un Madrid flojo en la presión. Kroos, Modric y Bellingham no generaron lo que podía esperar un Ancelotti que la tomó con el colegiado por varias faltas que no entendió. El paso de los minutos reforzó la idea local, pero el Alavés no aprovechó esa roja en la reanudación.

El Madrid fue quien redobló esfuerzos y los de Luis García dejaron de llegar al área de Kepa. Los visitantes lo intentaron buscando las carreras de Rodrygo y, ya al final, con la entrada de un Joselu que no tuvo su habitual inspiración. Con el empate en el bolsillo, a los vascos les vino el vértigo de cerrar el botín y, en un saque de esquina tras una pérdida atrás, llegó el 0-1.

Lucas Vázquez apareció sólo en el área e hizo el tanto que permite a los madrileños irse de vacaciones de Navidad en el liderato, aunque empatados con el Girona, y con el FC Barcelona a siete puntos. El descuento eso sí trajo también la posible lesión de Rodrygo en un Madrid que se crece ante la adversidad pero que preferiría no seguir engordando la enfermería.

Morena no impugnará acuerdo del INE sobre paridad en las gubernaturas
