For starters: Read the book. It's been known as "the Global Industrial Complex-systems of domination by Steven Best (Editor), Richard Kahn (Editor), Anthony J. Nocella II Fort Lewis College (Editor), Peter McLaren Emeritus Professor the University of California Los Angeles (Editor)" since the year 2011. PDF: FREE There's obviously been excessive changes that occurred AFTER 2011 to make this book a bit dated. However, this book has enough authors "essays" to show the multiple "complexes" that make up the Global parent system. Once you realize what the authors were talking about then in 2011, you can very easily imagine the "progressive" Neo-liberalism that we are now "stuck with". I call it Billionaireism which seems to me is intuitively Obvious! It's GLOBALISM on Steroids and Max Dosage is known as, "I'll have the usual, barkeep!"

food for thought beyond the systemic devaluing and mistreatment of non-human animals in many, many societies:
a full analysis of the dynamics of violence against humans is precluded when attention is not given to the function of dehumanization and the subhuman figure in facilitating violence against humans (188) … human rights discourses do not instruct us to purge the subhuman category or the human/nonhuman divide from our critical repertoire. Instead, they seek to convince us that we should see all human beings as definitely human and not subhumanize them. This approach does not effectively achieve its aim of protecting vulnerable human groups from violence because it leaves the subhuman category intact, a category that humanized humans can always assert should convictions sway about the relative moral worth of a particular human group (197)
--"The Subhuman as a Cultural Agent of Violence" by Maneesha Deckha, as printed in Intersectionality of Critical Animal Studies ed. Anthony J. Nocella II and Amber E. George
(Speciesism refers to the attribution of a superior status to human beings compared to other animal species)

Note
For the indigenous vegan books anon, since I don't think anyone else has chimed in: I know of "Veganism in an Oppressive World" ed. Julia Feliz Brueck and "Intersectionality of Critical Animal Studies" ed. Anthony J. Nocella II and Amber George--neither of which are entirely on indigenous veganism but have sections dedicated to it. Disclaimer I've read neither. I do rec Margaret Robinson, though, who has articles which I have read and which I have greatly enjoyed
Thank you anon - much appreciated.

Quote
The termination of the Bretton Woods financial system and the collapse of the Soviet Union followed in the wake of centuries of capital-driven globalization. Neoliberal capitalism has become the new paradigm of permanent growth. The implications of the neoliberal stage of capitalist marketization are enormous, as capitalism universalizes its rule, throws off "superfluous" and "injurious" constraints on "free trade," and increasingly realizes the goal of purity of function and purpose through the autonomization of the economy from society, so that the social is the economic. Over the last few decades, Takis Fotopoulos notes, "A neoliberal consensus has swept over the advanced capitalist world and has replaced the social-democratic consensus of the early post-war period." Not only have "existing socialist societies" been negated in the global triumph of capitalism, so too have social democracies and the bulk of institutional networks designed to protect individuals from the ravages of privatization and the relinquishment of responsibilities to people in need to case them into barbaric barrenness of the "survival-of-the-fittest.
Steven Best, "Introduction: Pathologies of Power and the Rise of the Global Industrial Complex", in Steven Best; Richard Kahn; Anthony J. Nocella II; Peter McLaren (eds.). The Global Industrial Complex: Systems of Domination. 2011. p. xviii
