Now that we have just a little over a month to go before the October 1 debut, Funimation went ahead and shared an English-subtitled version of last week's second promo.

Admin of a Dying Page Culture
Tumblr media
I’ve become a victim - a victim of a dying culture on Facebook. And that culture is anime pages.
It strikes me that after five years of being an admin, I’ve only managed to garner around 5,000 fans across three pages alone. Despite my efforts to offer admin positions to fans, it seems that people have stopped aspiring to post stuff from some of their favourite pages. I’ve had around ten people on my pages as admins over the years. They were hard to find because not many people were interested in being admins and even when they were, they all seemed to forget, after a while, that they were admins on the page.
A couple of years back, I was made the owner of a stagnating anime page that I was admining at the time. While we had managed to hire a few admins the year before, there were quite a few admins who hadn’t been posting for a while. I buggered them for a while (to remind them that they were admins on the page) before I removed them. During that time, none of the stagnating admins had responded to any of my messages. Even so, when I sent reminders to other admins, they rarely ever responded, which makes me really think if they actually cared about being an admin on my pages in the first place.
I would love to have some admins posting on my pages as well, but they need to be sure if they are willing to keep it up, even as an occasional hobby which you do every week or fortnight. I don’t like to keep admins on if they have not been active for a while as it shows that they don’t care about the page. I’ve even considered offering my services to other pages in the same manner that I seek my admins (by posting promos on Facebook) but nothing much has come from that.
There are three particular factors that I feel are to blame for the loss of public interest in anime pages:
1. Meme and shitposting pages
In the past couple of years, memes and shitposting have become very popular across social media. No, I’m not talking “memes” like the image at the top of this post, but memes that make Facebook look like Twitter, so things like this:
Tumblr media
People have started making groups dedicated to posting “original content”, or “shitposts” about various things, like high school exams, supermarkets, TV shows, or even politics. Heck, even corporations and politicians are getting into the meme culture and that’s what I really hate about this entire thing. These guys are the type of people that 4chan would call “normies”. The internet was never the same after Pepe the Frog died.
Anime and tokusatsu shitposting pages have also brought along an influx of fans liking, commenting and sharing their content, while old-style anime pages have been left in the dark. If a page has over 10,000 likes, then there is still a bit of interaction on their posts, whereas for pages like mine with not even 5,000 likes on them, interaction is a rare thing.
I’ve persisted with my usual posting format over the years because I’m a bit of a stubborn person when it comes to anime pages. Not a lot of people are liking pages or posts that purely share anime images or fanart just for the sake of it, even when they add a little bit of context to their descriptions.
When it comes to the people liking classic anime pages, it seems that Southeast Asia is the region that still appreciates these pages, as a lot of the likes on my pages come from countries like the Philippines or Indonesia. I do have a small number of fans from the US, but that number doesn’t even make up half the number of total likes. When it comes to Commonwealth countries like the UK, Canada or Australia, well, let’s just say that they’re very skint according to the figures that I have.
The problem with this whole thing is that Westerners don’t know how to appreciate content that isn’t just “memes”. Shitposting has taken over the internet and it is making anime pages struggle to maintain their fanbases.
2. My ignorance of the latest anime trends
Some of the factors contributing to this are partly of my own doing as well. I’ve never really been into anime, so I’ve just been posting stuff from some of my favourite titles (the ones you see on the Waifu Network). I don’t keep up with the latest anime trends either; I just notice things based on what I see on my News Feed.
To be quite honest, I think that anime is becoming more and more sexist each year. Male characters are heavily underrepresented in anime as in most cases, their character doesn’t get a lot of admiration and attention from the production company and the fans, while their voice actors might not even get a character song to sing. Females are being sexualised a lot for the sake of fanservice, yet the male characters don’t get a lot in the way of fanservice either.
On the Waifu Network, I post as one of a number of original (male) characters who are romantically (or familiarly) related to the girls of the Network. I like to have fun doing this as it can really get my imagination running. I’m perfectly fine with the lineup I have and I wouldn’t really want to add more animes to it as it will only make things more complicated.
Additionally, I am an admin on a page that is specifically about a particular anime on the Network and my posts are simulcast across five pages at the same time. Naturally, I try to post some different content on the other four pages every once in a while, but most of the time the content revolves around the subject matter of that one page.
3. Facebook killing page reach
It’s a common problem experienced by page admins everywhere. Some days, your posts will have reached much of your fanbase and on other days, your posts might not reach them at all.
One of my theories to this problem stems from the News Feed. Aside from the usual Top Stories/Most Recent problem, the decision to show what posts people liked or commented on also contributed to lower page reaches. All of a sudden, you see on your News Feed a lot of posts from pages you haven’t even liked or from people who aren’t on your friends list. Naturally, this buries a lot of page posts down in the mud unless you have the tenacity or boredom to scroll through many posts to get to the ones you want to see.
Let’s take a look at some examples. This first example is from one of my pages, which (at the time of writing) has just over 1,100 likes:
Tumblr media
These are about a month’s worth of posts on the page (I don’t really post much, you see). You might see a pattern here, but if you were to look further down at my older posts, you can see periods where my content has reached more users than others. Overall, my posts don’t even reach a half of my overall fanbase.
In comparison, let’s take a look at another page I admin. This page is part of a network, has more likes and more admins. At the time of writing, this page has nearly 50k likes:
Tumblr media
The situation is, again, very similar to my page with 1.1k likes. There are some occasions where post reach may go up past the 10k mark, but in most cases, a lot of our posts only make it to a quarter of our fans, or at most, two-tenths. Keep in mind that the screenshot only shows a week’s worth of posts, as one of the admins likes to post a lot of edgy stuff daily.
So in summary:
Fans are appreciating meme and shitposting pages more than pages that repost anime screenshots and fanarts
I post the same old stuff in my pages because I’m not that much into the latest anime trends
Facebook’s News Feed algorithms are killing the post reach of fanpages
In turn, this causes people to be less interested in the old-style anime pages or the prospect of being involved in them by becoming an admin.
If you want to be an admin on one of my pages, there is an expectation that you will be active at least occasionally, meaning that admins should post at least once a fortnight. It is understandable that other commitments will take precedence before such leisurely matters, but to become an admin on a page and then forget about it is really a disgrace to the head admins of that page. Think of page admining as being any other ordinary job; if you don’t show up for work, then your boss will have a pretty negative image of you over time.
If you know that you cannot meet the posting expectations required of you when you become an admin on my pages, then I strongly suggest that you do not sign up at all.
Otherwise, if you are interested in being an admin on one of my pages, feel free to message me through my Facebook page. Likewise, if you are interested in having me as an admin on one of your pages, feel free to message me too.

Armed Girls Machiavellism 1 | Love Tyrant 1 | Warau Salesman New 1 | Alice to Zouroku 1 | Twin Angel Break 1 | Tsukigakirei 1 | Boku no Hero Academia 15 | Tsugumomo 1
(Armed Girls Machiavellism 1)
I was doubtful about this one because I could never get what was so offputting about it. Maybe I’ll figure it out while I watch.
…bear?
I bet he’s just a hand to hand brawler, that Nomura.
I appreciate the correct English, but “WARNING! Knock out 40+” sounds like a bunch of dot points…or a really bad brand of sunscreen, LOL.
Okay, I know anime has weird names, but “Kirukiru Amo” is a whole ‘nother level of weird. Then again, there’s weirder names out there (like Zolbe from Saiki Kusuo, but he seems to be a bit of a stereotype).
Hey wait, I thought I’d heard of Tenkai Goken (Great Five Swords) before, and it turns out I have! Touken Ranbu’s Juzumaru is one, so is Mikazuki and so is Oodenta (TR’s Oodenta is drawn by the same guy who did character designs for Kiznaiver, to boot)!
You gotta admit the colours in this really pop in a modern sort of way, unlike the somewhat plain Sagrada Reset.
See? Fudo really is a hand to hand brawler! (Then again, I knew that from the ANN stuff, LOL. Sorry I didn’t warn you about that.)
I half expect the pink stuff to be either transformation goo or makeup applying goo.
When I scoped out the show, the first impression shot that put me off was this one (the one just after the OP). Then again, I was intrigued by how empowering it was for the girls the first time I saw it, and I was put off by it the second time (because I scoped it out twice by looking at the manga website). I think it was Fudo’s face that did it for me, which is a bad sign going forward.
Isn’t it “co-educational”, rather than “co-existence”? Or is that just a very bad pun on the show’s part? Update: It is a bad pun, one on the word kyousei (correct/coexist, different kanji for each).
This is what definitely makes it offputting – the ecchi part. I really shouldn’t have wanted to watch this show, eh?
Nipple wrestling is a thing?! (wut.)
Take out the leg she’s standing on. Then again, if you went for that leg, she’d kick you with her other one…eh, I’m not good at strategy, y’know?
I know this is a battle anime, but since it’s a school anime too, shouldn’t Fudo get that thing disinfected?
Seriously, this show can never decide if it’s one or two parts of Rin’s mask they need on her face at one given time. On that note, I don’t think I’m coming back to this show. While it’s middle-of-the-road in some ways, it’s downright disturbing in others, including the bear.
(Love Tyrant 1)
I can’t remember why I picked some of these up…I was wandering around ANN a lot since I had a bunch of things due before the spring season started…
Well, that’s new. A show that made me cringe before anything really happened.
Wow. Blatant parody much.
I’m with Seiji re: Guri. The “wait a minute” though? Do they have that on all TV stations in Japan? Plus, ANN says Guri’s a fujoshi…which is vaguely disturbing when she randomly picks the PM and House Speaker…at least pick someone who’ll cause less impact on the world at large and not play that for comedy!!!
Okay…ooooooookkkkkkkkkkayyyyyyyyyyyyyy…not only Gainaxing, but fanservice galore…I think I learnt my lesson from Armed Girls. I’m getting out of here.
(Warau Salesman New 1)
Why do I have this on my list? ANN says it does its job competently, and while I’m not completely a sucker for monkey’s paw stories, seeing another 60s manga revived as an anime…is one odd choice after another for the industry, so hey, why not. Plus it was made by one of the Fujios, which makes it somewhat culturally relevant.
The artstyle might seem outdated, but it’s living up to its premise – there seems to be an uneasy feeling laced throughout the show.
Comic Sans, get out.
Hyper realistic artwork in an anime like this is always a “should that even be there????” factor. It works in the show’s favour though.
I think the intro is fine once per episode or at the start of each episode if the episode is about 5 – 10 minutes long. For a full length, you want to go ???? (in a bad way) at it. It’s different animation, sure, but it’s the same intro text, and that’s bad.
LOL, she looks like Fujiko Mine now. It must be no coinicidence, since it comes from the Lupin III era.
This is strangely well produced for an anime of a time gone by, but it reminds me of a show that creeped me out, updated, mature and Japan-ified. (For reference, this is the show I got creeped out by – Death By Chocolate, which is the one where a girl eats chocolate with a bug egg in it and turns into a bug herself …ugh.) So I’m gonna drop it. (As another reference, I wrote a transformation story – do you remember Melting Chocolate, back in the day? – that may have taken its inspiration from Death by Chocolate.)
(Alice to Zouroku 1)
Apparently the sci-fi part of this is good, so I hope it can live up to expectations.
Alright, I admit I completely forgot this was a double-length first ep. SGRS managed to pull it off (and in a sense, so did Kado), but anything that squanders its chances with such an opportunity is a waste in most senses of the word.
Oh great, this looks like Denpa Kyoushi. Not a good sign.
…giant arms?
Okay, whose idea was it to turn all the cars into CG blocks? It works on just one car or a bunch of cars, but if you do it on the waffle thing (that’s on the side of the road) too, it starts to look clunky.
Faim Mart (sic), LOL. Obviously Family Mart.
Does this count as breaking and entering…?
The more I look at these CGI cars, the more I’m led to believe this is some Very Bad Anime, but the chase scene is actually thrilling to a small degree, so it’s obviously not.
I like this old man already. Meanwhile, I still don’t like Very Bad CGI.
Asahi and Yonaga (yo can mean “night” while asa can mean “day”), LOL.
Kensaku means “search” (as in, kensaku no engin is “search engine”).
Zoroku is the one element that makes this stand out. I mean, I laughed way too hard at him pushing the girl (Sana, right?) down.
It’s this season’s ACCA, LOL.
Okay, that’s a breach of privacy I don’t like. However, unless you’re a psychic, you can’t follow that example…
Xiaochi means “snack” in Chinese.
“I hate crooked stuff.” - So then why’d you work with the yakuza, Zoroku?
The flowers look real! Is that the true power of CG? (Actually, I take that back. Kado’s cube is better than that.)
Phlox. Doesn’t quite look like what its animated version looks like.
Alice to Zoroku has potential, but almost non-existent themes, no real sense of suspense in its action scene and horridly bad CGI. The only real good point is Zoroku, so I’m going to drop it.
Update: I watched this in bits and pieces because I had my mind on other things, but apparently there’s dust on Sanae’s stuff and Zoroku said Sanae was on a school trip? This is one of the times I’ll have to disagree with whoever said that, because I do not recall that one speck.
(Twin Angel Break 1)
I apologise in advance for if I call this Twin Angels Break instead of Twin Angel Break, because there seems to be no particular set name this show is called in that regard. Plus, you already know I’m a fan of magical girls – last time there was a show that could have gone into circulation (Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R), it didn’t make it but considering how brutal I am with my decisions for simulcast commentary these days, this one might just make it! Update: There were actually a few shows after Komugi that could’ve made it, with Flip Flappers notably making it but Magical Girl Raising Project not making it. It’s just that I consider Flip Flappers an Alice in Wonderland show more than a magical girl one.
This is…pretty obviously a commercial…maybe I should take my excitement back…
The only sister school scheme I know that requires grades requires average grades, so I guess I can’t really talk (since I’ve never been on exchange anyway…?).
LOL, selfies. Thought they’d gone out of style at least a half year ago. Even dabbing’s more recent than selfies…
I can feel the yuri…
I feel Yuki’s reveal as a crossdresser was unnecessary.
Those “women” are from a series I was going to watch (Twin Angel Twinkle Paradise). Dangit spoilers – stealth sequels hurt the self-esteem if you don’t remember they’re coming. (I was aware this was a stealth sequel from ANN, but then I forgot about it because I’ve been churning out about 4 premiere entries a day…)
4 cups?! I couldn’t eat that much if I tried! I can almost finish a whole bag of chips on my own though (not the oven-baked, potato-mush-in-middle sort, the other sort).
Shamisenist? Is that a thing? However, this guy’s so camp, it’s hilarious.
Zundar, is that you? LOL, jks.
Why does this hedgehog have non-kawaii eyes? (LOL.)
Gratuitous shaking of the butt means it’s one for the yuri crowd…no wonder it’s a pachinko ad…
Wait, so Miruku is a girl?!
“What is the Tamagawa River?” - I ask the same question Meguru did, John.
How could you not tell, Meguru?! It’s kinda obvious, right? I love magical girls, but this is the sin of all magical girl shows, built into the format.
Welp, it seems like this one gets an OK from me. It’s not particularly groundbreaking, but the flail and naginata bit seems promising. However, the thing about magical girl shows is that they often don’t fare well under the simulcast commentary format so it may not stay on forever.
(Tsukigakirei 1)
Apparently this is decent…but if it’s only decent, I may just shove it aside…Update: Promo material says male protag likes Osamu Dazai, and after Bungou, danggggggg I’m thirsty for more Dazai, LOL.
Already I cringe at the bad CGI…
There was live action in the OP of Kado but this one seems even more out of place with it.
There’s that one guy with pink hair who wouldn’t look out of place in a different anime, but here he stands out since I already know how uptight Japanese schools can be with their rules (it’s a common topic during Japanese study, y’know?).
It says dai dai dai boshuu (basically, they’re trying reallllllll hard to get people to join through words alone) but the bottom line on the bo seems to be a little too long. There’s also the fact someone accidentally wrote “dog” instead of one of the dais, since “dog” and “big” (in this case big = dai) are only one stroke’s difference, but that extra stroke was rubbed out. Either way, there is an error in the recruitment statement, so the typo reflects that…I listened to it again, and the “dog” thing was indeed the case.
Thank you Dazai for such sage advice in describing teenage romance. (semi-sarcastic)
Okay, who describes water as tasty? Unless you’ve flavoured your water, I just don’t see why. Water is flavourless, y’know?
I live close to a shopping centre, so I see people I know working there sometimes and it’s awkward in that sort of way - Tsukigakirei just captured that feeling perfectly.
I left the volume on after checking the dog joke and gosh, that piano music is gorgeous. I’d love to hear this show’s OST when I can.
People in Western countries use Facebook these days, but it’s the same gig, right?
Watching that hand in the corner working that phone…it’s an odd angle.
Taiko no Tetsujin is a play on Taiko no Tatsujin. That’s where the lil’ drum in Osu comes from, and heck, it’s real similar to Osu.
I never quite understood that thing where girls have to go to the bathroom together…maybe it’s because I was raised to be independent? Or because I’m antisocial? Or even both? I get it if they want to chat, but otherwise nope.
I consulted Aozora Bunko, and apparently that line exists in that story.
Yudemen.
The only real supergroups I know are Swedish House Mafia (kinda sorta, they were only real big stars after SHM took off) and Apparatjik (because Coldplay).
“You should read all kinds of books,” LOL.
There was one background with one door and light streaming in that was so lifelike…that took my breath away…
So, despite its awkwardness, this one seems intent on being brutally honest and that’s admirable. It’s a keeper.
(Boku no Hero Academia 15)
It’s interesting to note in the final shot of the OP, Shouto wears a navy suit that looks a lot like his sport uniform. However, Bakugou is clearly wearing his hero outfit and so is everyone else.
Interesting to note All Might’s blood stain stays on the side of his face when he speaks after it spurts out of his mouth. However, that attempt at humour didn’t quite work for me.
“…until the day of.” – The day of…what? The subs didn’t finish the sentence, even though it’s obvious from the context what it’s referring to.
Mineta’s “person” thing is something used to relieve stress – you write the kanji for “person” on your hand (which only needs two strokes) and then you eat it (figuratively speaking).
Ooh. Shouto’s made a real pretty ice sculpture.
Oh. Koseiteki literally, but “Quirky” in English translation. Nice one, subbers. (The title for the next ep is affected by this particular grammar snarl – which I don’t really know how to explain myself – affecting the word for Quirk (kosei). Literally speaking, the title for the next ep is something along the lines of “Everyone’s Good With [Their Own] Quirks, Aren’t They?”)
(Tsugumomo 1)
I wasn’t part of the anime scene in 2007, so I wonder how that’ll impact my view on the show.
Oh man, OP debut queue. It’s kinda hard to keep up with…
I get why people make that eye-shaped window thing, but I’m not a fan of it visuals-wise.
Oh gosh. Why can’t harem protags keep their hands to themselves? Plus, that hand movement Kazuya makes doesn’t make sense if you’re reaching out for the girl (Kiriha, that was her name, right?).
The more I sigh, the more I want to get out of here. I can’t handle 1) jokes about…a man’s area, 2) jokes about peeking at panties and 3) jokes about groping girls, among other things (which have all been ticked off!), so this show has one last chance to prove itself before it gets a bad score and a kick out.
Yeahhhhhhhh. I get why you’re doing that, but...out in the open, you look like a perv, Kazuya.
Don’t say you’re dead when you’re falling…*sigh*
Dang that battle made me change my opinion fast. Good fight scene. Now tone down the harem parts and we have ourselves a deal.
Dang that “Ya-kun, I’ve drawn a bath!” thing reminds me exactly of Masamune-kun’s Revenge. Or Fuuka. Whichever one it was last season with the dude with the multiple sisters who lounge around in their underwear…*rolls eyes*
When Kiriha showed up in bed I half expected either 1) “PERVERT!” *shaking screen* or 2) “YIKES! Why is she in my bed?!” *shaking screen*. If either of those happened, I never registered it (mercifully) because I had the volume off, but luckily the screen didn’t shake...Okay, he screamed. I’m getting outta this cliché fest, see ya.

24: Live Another Day
24: Live Another Day
Edit In May 2013, Deadline first reported that Fox was considering a limited-run “event series” for 24 based on a concept by Howard Gordon , after failed efforts to produce the 24 feature film and the cancellation of Kiefer Sutherland ‘s series Touch . David Fury confirmed on Twitter that he would also be involved, pulling “double duty” with Gordon’s new series Tyrant . [1] The following week, Fox officially announced 24: Live Another Day , a limited-run series of twelve episodes that would feature the return of Jack Bauer . Fox CEO Kevin Reilly said that the series would essentially represent the twelve “most important” hours of a typical 24 season, with jumps forward between hours as needed. As with the rest of Fox’s push into event programming, the production was promised to have “a big scope and top talent and top marketing budgets.” Reilly also noted that the project could pave the way for sequel series in the future. [2] In the press release, Gordon said: “ Jack Bauer has always been an exciting, thrilling character, and I confess that I’ve missed him. I think the audience has too. The character has evolved through the years, and this new and exciting event series format is perfect to tell the next chapter of his story and continue to reflect how the world is changing. Fans can rest assured that the Jack they know and love will be back. ” Kiefer Sutherland , who was confirmed to executive produce and star in the new series, added: “ The response to ‘24’ is unlike anything I have ever experienced as an actor before. To have the chance to reunite with the character, Jack Bauer, is like finding a lost friend. The story ideas from Howard Gordon are exciting and fresh, and will not disappoint. Great thanks to 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and the FOX network for this opportunity. Make no mistake, my goal is to knock your socks off. See you soon. ” In June, it was announced that Jon Cassar was signed to executive produce and direct multiple episodes of Live Another Day , including the first two. [3] Executive producers and writers Robert Cochran , Manny Coto and Evan Katz also returned, with Coto and Katz serving as showrunners. [4] [5] Sean Callery composed the score for the series. [6] The writing process began on July 1 , with David Fury pitching the first episode. [7] The first episode, ” 11:00am-12:00pm “, was written by Evan Katz & Manny Coto [8] and the second, ” 12:00pm-1:00pm “, by Robert Cochran and David Fury . [9] Returning 24 director Milan Cheylov directed episodes 9 and 10. [10] On July 11 , 2013 , executive producer Brian Grazer announced in an interview that the 24 miniseries would “be a limited series that would then spin off into a series itself. Fox is doing it, Fox studio and Fox network, and we’re totally thrilled by that.” [11] Casting After Kiefer Sutherland , Mary Lynn Rajskub was announced as the second official cast member in August 2013 , reprising her role as Chloe O’Brian . [12] In September 2013, it was revealed Kim Raver was negotiating a deal to return as Audrey . It was also revealed that the new President of the United States would be a character the audience has met before, leading to speculation that William Devane ‘s James Heller would be returning as President. [13] On October 4 it was confirmed that both Raver and Devane had signed deals to rejoin the cast. [14] In November 2013, Canadian actor Michael Wincott was announced as the first new cast member, portraying an infamous hacker and activist named Adrian . [15] Soon after, Gbenga Akinnagbe and Giles Matthey were cast as series regulars, playing CIA agents Erik Ritter and Jordan Reed . [16] At the TCA panel on January 13, 2014, Fox announced that Yvonne Strahovski had joined the cast as Kate Morgan , a CIA field operative on the trail of Jack Bauer. [17] The same week, Emmy Award -nominated film and television actor Benjamin Bratt was announced to play the role of Steve Navarro , the CIA’s London chief of operations. [18] Tate Donovan was announced to play Audrey Raines’ new husband and White House Chief of Staff Mark Boudreau . [19] On January 24, the casting of renowned actor and comedian Stephen Fry as British Prime Minister Trevor Davies was announced. [20] In December 2013, two-time Oscar nominee Judy Davis was cast as Margot Al-Harazi , a British national and the widow of a notorious terrorist. [21] However, in February, Davis left the role after personal matters prevented her from traveling to London for filming. [22] Davis was replaced by Game of Thrones actress Michelle Fairley . [23] In December 2013, David Fury sent out a pair of tweets suggesting that Carlos Bernard could return to portray Tony Almeida . [24] Bernard ultimately did not appear, but an ” extra scene ” involving Almeida will appear on the season Blu-ray Disc set . [25] Filming Edit 24: Live Another Day filmed on location in London , United Kingdom . [26] Pre-production and location scouting by the crew, including Jon Cassar , began in November 2013. [27] The production offices for Live Another Day were based in the Gillette Building in west London, previously used for films such as Red 2 . [28] Production began on January 6 , 2014 , with filming scheduled to occur from January 25 through June 13 . [29] Promotion Edit A 45-second teaser titled “Street Chaos,” featuring Jack Bauer and Chloe O’Brian , was filmed on January 21 for debut during the February 2 Super Bowl XLVIII telecast on Fox . Several short fifteen-second clips were released on YouTube during the pre-game broadcast. The first promo featuring footage from the new episodes, titled “The Clock Starts Ticking”, aired on Fox on March 9, 2014. On April 7, ” Jack Is Back “, a half-hour behind-the-scenes featurette featuring interviews with cast and crew members, was released on Fox.com and other outlets. On April 11, a new movie-style trailer was released, along with the debut of a viral marketing campaign focusing on Chloe O’Brian and her new organization Open Cell . A fifteen-second TV spot features Chloe warning viewers that Jack is innocent and directing them to Open-Cell.org to learn more. This was accompanied by similar radio advertisements and the “hacking” of Fox’s 24 Facebook and Twitter pages to link to posts on the website. Following each new episode, a new web feature called Connect24 , sponsored by Sprint , offered exclusive sneak peeks for the subsequent episode after the user completes certain “missions.” A 24 panel was held at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con on July 26 , 2014 , featuring Kiefer Sutherland , Jon Cassar , and Yvonne Strahovski . [30] Release Edit In April, Amazon.com announced a deal with Fox Broadcasting Company to become the exclusive streaming carrier for 24: Live Another Day via its Amazon Prime service. [31] The first four episodes of Live Another Day were made available for purchase on Amazon.com starting on May 6 , 2014 , the day after the two-hour premiere. The series was simulcast in Canada, debuting on May 5, 2014, on Global . [32] In the United Kingdom, the series premiere aired on Sky1 at 1:00am on May 6 , 2014 simultaneous with the U.S. premiere, with the official premiere on May 7 and airing on Wednesdays thereafter. [33] Canal+ , which holds the airing rights in France, aired the premiere with a 40-minute delay from the U.S. airing. [34] On May 6, 2014, it premiered in Germany on Sky Deutschland , [35] in Mexico and Latin America on Canal Fox [36] in Greece and Cyprus on Fox , [37] and in the Philippines on Jack City — first at the exclusive time of 1:00 pm via satellite before airing in its regular primetime slot of 9:00 pm. [38] In Asia, the series aired on AXN , starting on May 6 on AXN Asia and May 9 on AXN India. [39] It was broadcast in Australia on Network Ten . [40] It also premiered in South Africa on May 29 , 2014 , on M-Net . [41] 24: Live Another Day was released on DVD and Blu-ray in the U.S. on September 30 , 2014 . [42] Among the special features is ” 24: Solitary “, a Blu-ray-exclusive “story extension” that addresses Tony Almeida ‘s fate following Season 7 . [25] Reception Edit As of May 7, 2014, 24: Live Another Day holds a rating of 70 out of 100 on the review aggregator site Metacritic, indicating “generally favorable” reviews.” [43] On Rotten Tomatoes, another review aggregator, the series currently holds a score of 84%, and is considered “Certified Fresh.” [44] The two-hour premiere episode received generally positive reviews. Merrill Barr ( Forbes ) compared the premiere favorably to previous seasons of 24 , stating that “The audience is given reason to care about Jack and his associates again because events are given reason to matter again… Here, much like in seasons one and two , everything ties together. The plot Jack’s trying to stop has a direct connection to the lives of multiple supporting characters he’s yet to interact with. It’s this dynamic that made the show great once, and will make it great again.” [45] Aaron Riccio ( Slant Magazine ) wrote that the twelve-episode format was a promising development, and that “the result is a leaner, scrappier 24 that is both firmly within its comfort zone…and somehow outside it, with Jack and the other returning characters more readily showing the wear and tear of their profession.” [46] Other reviews were less positive; Jeff Jensen ( Entertainment Weekly ) criticized the reuse of story elements and character archetypes, concluding that “Despite the high-grade action, the premiere is more a showcase for everything that was bad about 24 than a reminder of everything that was good.” [47] Reception for the season’s finale was generally positive [48] [49] and ratings for the finale were up to 21% from the previous installment. [50] Despite airing in mid-2014, Live Another Day competed in the 2014-2015 season at the Primetime Emmy Awards , as it had not aired half of its episodes by the May 31 , 2014 deadline to qualify for the 2013-2014 awards. [51] Live Another Day was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards in the Miniseries or Movie category: Outstanding Music Composition (Original Dramatic Score), Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing, and Outstanding Sound Editing. WGC Bridgestone Invitational 2017 live stream: Tee times, TV schedule, and how to watch Saturday online
The annual stop at Firestone always produces a big-time leaderboard and we have that again heading to the weekend in Akron.
It's hard to have a bad leaderboard at a WGC event, and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational always seems to deliver firepower at the top. We have that again this weekend, with 49 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings teeing it up at the start of the week and many of those top players rising up the leaderboard by the weekend.
Jimmy Walker, who will defend his PGA Championship next week, is on the 36-hole lead at Firestone. Walker has and is battling Lyme disease this year, so it's been an unpredictable struggle and he was quite candid that it could become a struggle at any moment this weekend. There's a lot of firepower chasing him, naturally, with so much of it in this limited no-cut event. In the red and well within striking distance are Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, and big Thomas Pieters, who is currently in solo second at 5-under. Walker's two-shot cushion is, needless to say, precarious with 36 more holes to go on the South Course at Firestone.
There are plenty of vocal critics of the Firestone setup who argue that it lacks character and becomes a monotonous slog of long par-4s. Those critiques aren't without merit, but the players always say they love it and it consistently produces strong leaderboards. It's hard to go wrong with the field that keeps coming to Akron. The best in the world come in from all over the globe with the PGA coming up the following week. This serves as a natural, and extremely lucrative, prep appetizer for the final major. Whatever your issue may be with the course, this remains one of the premier stops on Tour and this weekend should be another strong finish.
CBS will have the primary coverage for the final two rounds in Akron. This is one of their big stretches of the golf season, with a WGC, a major, and the first leg of the FedExCup all coming within a four-week span. Then Jim Nantz and company head out for football season and hand the reins to NBC. Nantz will be on the call this weekend, but did a little pre-golf TV booth giggling at the nearby Hall of Fame game this week, showing up with Tony Romo for a promo with their NBC counterparts.
Al & Cris welcome some special pregame visitors to the booth. The @ProFootballHOF Game NOW on NBC. http://pic.twitter.com/syEUaVMQfj
— NBC Sports PR (@NBCSportsPR) August 4, 2017

Sonny Boy was first revealed as an original anime by director Shingo Natsume (One-Punch Man season 1) back in April, and more updates have been trickling out ahead of the series' July 15 premiere. Following up on the news that Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe is on board as music advisor, there's a new key visual, 60-second promo, and the announcement of an episode 1 premiere on YouTube.
The first episode's YouTube screening will stream for free at 8:00pm Japan Time on June 19 via the Shochiku YouTube channel, but it's region locked to Japan. You can see the new promo below, which features the voices of Aoi Ichikawa as Nagara, Saori Onishi as Nozomi, Aoi Yuuki as Mizuha, and Chiaki Kobayashi as Asakaze.

The jacket of the soundtrack 1st half album was also revealed, featuring one of Hisashi Eguchi's pieces of rough character art. The first part of the OST launches on July 21, with soundtrack 2nd half set to follow on September 8 with similar art. The soundtracks will feature the bands chosen by Watanabe and featured in the anime, including VIDEOTAPEMUSIC, The Natsuyasumi Band, Mitsume, and more.
Tumblr media
Alongside Natsume as the original creator, screenwriter, and director is Norifumi Kugai (ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.) as the animation character designer, who is adapting the original designs by Hisashi Eguchi (Perfect Blue). Mari Fujino at Studio Pablo (Flowers of Evil) is providing the art direction with Ken Hashimoto (BEASTARS) as the color designer and Akane Fushihara (Boogiepop and Others) as the Director of Photography. Kashiko Kimura (In This Corner of the World) is editing the series with Shoji Hata (Vinland Saga) providing the sound direction.
The story of Sonny Boy finds a group of junior high students left behind in school and transported to another dimension, where they must fight to survive using newly awakening supernatural powers. Funimation will simulcast the series as it airs in Japan.

Crunchyroll has another pair of shows to add to the ever-growing Fall 2019 anime simulcast lineup. The latest series are High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World and Ascendance of a Bookworm, both of which will have episode 1 world premieres at Crunchyroll Expo 2019.
Here's a breakdown of both, along with promos and key visuals:
High School Prodigies Have It Easy Even in Another World
Launch Time: Fall 2019
Territories: Worldwide ex. Asia
  Synopsis:
Seven high school students are involved in an airplane crash. When they woke up, they found themselves in a parallel world where magic and beastmen exist. Of course, they panicked at their sudden unexpected predicament... or not? Instead, they create a power plant in a world that doesn't have electricity, they did a little extra work and managed to take economic control over a metropolis, they managed to repay their gratitude to some oppressed citizens by upending a corrupt government, and basically do whatever they feel like?!
You probably guessed by now, but these high school kids aren't normal. They are all high school prodigies who stood at the top of the fields of politics, economics, science, and medicine.
This is an otherworldly revolutionary tale featuring the Earth's dream team of individuals with superior intellect and technology being thrown into a world where super technology doesn't exist.

      Ascendance of a Bookworm
Launch Time: Fall 2019
Territories: Worldwide ex. Asia
  Synopsis:
When she woke up, she was in a parallel world...
Avid bookworm and college student Motosu Urano ends up dying in an unforeseen accident. This came right after the news that she would finally be able to work as a librarian like she had always dreamed of.
When she regained consciousness, she was reborn as Myne, the daughter of a poor soldier. She was in the town of Ehrenfest, a town that existed in a parallel world and had a harsh class system where the magic-wielding nobles ruled supreme. But Myne doesn't really let that get to her. After all, as long as she had books, she didn't really need anything else.
However, this world had a very low literacy rate and no real way of printing books, so books were scarce and belonged only to the nobles. They were completely out of reach for the daughter of some poor soldier. But that doesn't stop Myne from wanting to read books, so she makes a decision...
"If there aren't any books, I'll just create some."
Myne might not have energy or money, but she has an endless amount of knowledge from all the books she read in her previous life. Will Myne actually be able to make some books? Myne's adventure to create books starts now.

      Stay tuned for more details!

Girls’ Last Tour 1 - 2 | Juuni Taisen 4 - 5 | Ancient Magus’ Bride 2 - 3 | Idolish7 1 - 2
The only one I’ve properly kept up with out of my 5 shows this season is Juuni Taisen, so I’m going to roll out the tag for that show first. Also, the Idolish7 first two episodes became free recently so I cover them here too.
Girls’ Last Tour 1
Pipes…grunge…hey, doesn’t this look familiar? *glares at Princess Principal*
I’ve only seen one episode of Made in Abyss but I get a bad feeling about these character designs…
I’m worried about this falling into the Yuri Divide. Sure, the fandom can do what it wants, but please don’t ship the lolis.
Oh right. Wind, meaning there’s an opening somewhere.
That dramatic eye opening made the outside world seem like an anticlimax. C’mon, show. You can do better than that.
I feel like Chito says “shut up” a lot, even though she’s only said it twice. I get how she’s kind of relatable, but this show’s not on the level of MMO Junkie or even Juuni Taisen. It’s just kinda…average.
Did Tangled ever teach you how to use a pan, Yuu?
Everything’s kinda WWI-esque. It’s kinda unsettling for a person who’s never properly seen war.
Even in this snowy world, you could still learn to hunt and cook, right?
If you kill your friend in a post-apocalyptic world, you’ll be lonely by war. Don’t kill each other, kiddos. Lives are precious.
This is serious, kiddos! C’mon!
Eating snow is meant to quench your thirst, but it’s not any good for hunger. Apparently.
Well, I’m quite lukewarm on this. I’ve already found my seasonal hits and I study globalisation, so it’s no surprise I find this stuff a lot like my weekly content. Nonetheless, whoever decided to put Classicaloid behind a paywall’s gonna have to pay (pun not intended)!
Girls’ Last Tour 2
I half expect a “hey you!” joke but they don’t work in Japanese…
What are the wiggly things on the ground next to Chi and Yuu in the OP??? Leeches???
Oh geez. Now they even draw cleavage on the lolis. Meaning these guys are just drawn young. That’s both a good and a bad thing.
Those letters seem to be…no language in particular.
Book burning. What a thing to throw in.
Oh. The blocky writing is actually hiragana or katakana. You just need to look at it closely.
I think that was meant to be comedy…but it was so cruel. Poor book.
I think what they’re saying is “don’t burn history”, but I think we learnt that a long time ago when the Chinese burnt books.
Maybe if these gals had Bear Grylls they’d survive a bit longer…?
Lemme guess: either Yuu burnt them all, destroyed them all or read them all.
The original joke was gomen wa, where ne is similar to wa. At least, I think it’s a wa. It could be a re.
The red circle said Yuu wrote the me wrong, so it’s actually probably gonun ne.
Well, someone funded a sakuga ending. Like the one from ACCA with dancing Lotta.
Juuni Taisen 4
I find it heavily symbolic that Nezumi likes eating eggs. Eggs represents chickens…and conundrums…
Ooh…bam. Nisio Isin’s going the Middle Eastern proxy route.
Hmm. Interesting, it’s basically Bystander Effect: the War.
The anime’s currently ahead of the manga, so I got slightly startled by Boar’s appearance. However, I’ve read some spoilers elsewhere, so I knew she was going to be in Monkey’s story somewhere else. I just didn’t think it was this soon.
Recycled footage…bad show! Bad!
LOL, CGI tank. Sorry for ruining the mood, but that stood out a bit too much for my liking.
“…participation is mandatory…” – Huh. I never saw that detail coming.
“Ow. I thought you were against violence.” – (LOL.) Yeah, but apathy isn’t good when something’s coming to get you in the sewers, so I’m with Monkey on this.
Wa-wait! Y’mean, Rabbit can use Chicken to use Eye of the Cormorant…so Monkey will die this ep??? [Monkey dying]’s exactly what I’ve been fearing for the duration of this episode. Update: If you want the spoiler version from the end of the ep…she didn’t die.
Notice Monkey uses moves that use the strength of her opponent against her. It’s a very pacifist touch, so to speak.
There are a series of images that flash by before the casual clothes part of the ED. If you observe them closely, you’ll see a lot of them involve the number 12. (Example: the cubes have lines on them that read “12”.)
LOL, I think I only just now spotted the bodyguard behind Boar. He’s hard to spot behind all the splatter.
Home boy and his T-bars make me laugh every time. Then of course, there’s Mr Floofy Jacket.
Oh, it’s Duodecuple who’s doing these next ep previews. I couldn’t figure out who it was last time I tried.
Juuni Taisen 5
Genius, with a capital letter? They keep calling him the Genius of Slaughter in his backstory, so I guess that’s where it’s from.
A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing is the same in Japanese as it is English, so at least the pun is there.
LOL, this episode is pretty much all “stuff goes kaboom!”, and that’s pretty much the way of the Sheep. Haha.
Of mice and men, eh??? (I read enough spoilers to know who the victor is…but I don’t know how they win.)
Whoa, yeah, baby! Bring that action! (That happens to be exactly the way I imagine my own action stories – from the front seat, so to speak.)
The snake’s winking! So cute! I want me some plushies like those!
Old-Timer. Haha, great pun on so many, many levels.
Ancient Magus’ Bride 2
I started doing a productivity blog and got caught up in it so much, I neglected anime! Imagine that – me, neglecting anime!
Oh, there’s a little “open” sign near the door.
It’s anime Hogwarts! Only the train is more colorful…LOL. (Actually, Little Witch Academia is anime Hogwarts, so scratch that.)
Ooh, Elias has a good taste in faces. Not that I’m complaining or anything. (Looks like En-chan, to boot.)
Elias is like the NEET genius of the magic world here. It’s kinda funny.
What’s a Gem’s Bee? (No spoilers, I’m not a manga reader!)
Angelica’s like her (Chise’s) mother, LOL. Seeing Elias properly emote is hilarious, hilarious! (Why I procrastinated on this show? Because it’s a slow mover that should be appreciated in its own time, but I’m not good with binging so…that’s why I’m only watching it now.)
Oh! No wonder Angelica seems like a mother. She is a mother.
Ooh! Ice flowers. Pretty. I’ve already gotten way too many screenshots for my own good out of this show…As a writer, I feel like I could never make a story like this. This is a story best fostered under someone else’s hand.
Poppies, eh? To me, poppies symbolise war and sticking out, but that’s just a product of where I was born. In the case of war, poppies represent the blood of the fallen and those who rise above that.
Speaking of stories I couldn’t write, I’m currently bringing Next to Me to a close. I feel like that’s my best match to AMB, which is why my thoughts dwell on stories so much right now. Next to Me is one of those stories where the world matters just as much as the character building, if not more, which is why the understated majesty of AMB is a good match.
Seeing a blonde Englishman use –kun like a Japanese is a bit disorienting.
Simon really treats Chise like a child, eh?
The “open” sign now says “close”. What is this house, an apothecary?
The CGI door was a bit weird…
Whoa! That was a bit of a fast approach into the dragon scene, but apparently the dragon part of AMB was really hyped…
Ancient Magus’ Bride 3
How does skelly-man see like that?
The dragons look like…Pokémon! (That was my first thought, LOL.)
This blonde is Lindel from the promo material I’ve read. He looks like zaShunina (Kado), so it’s best to be wary of him.
Ooh, now there’s an application of shadows I’d never be able to think of!
Holy flame spirits, Batman! Elias has a tongue! (I got spoilered on that by ANN, but it’s crazy seeing it in context.)
Ancient mages shouldn’t be hot like zaShunina! Where are the real old fogeys like Kiku(hiko, SGRS)?
Uncle Nevin! I found it extremely charming this uil has a name beyond “Uil”.
Can these dragons read minds? Or is it just the power of Dragon Knowledge (TM)?
When they say “Anime saved my life”, I guess they never meant it this literally…or at least, Chise never meant it this literally.
That dragon has way too many eyes!!! Yipes.
Huh. I haven’t felt this feeling since SGRS. The feeling of a masterpiece on my eyeballs.
羽鳥チセ <- That’s how you write Chise’s name, so they did another “Western creature uses Japanese knowledge” thing…
D’aww. That was beautiful! No wonder people like it, now I like it too. Nothing short of majestic, guys, nothing short of majestic.
Hey, the guy who voiced Nevin is called Ryuuzaburo. Ryuu means dragon in this case. (Meta pun!)
Idolish 7 1
Crunchyroll really tried to hype this thing up! Wow. So, here I am at what could pretty much be called a premiere event of the simulcast commentary. Enjoy, friends.
By the way, I’ve tried a bit of the Idolish 7 game (but since it was on BlueStacks, I couldn’t do the “rhythm” part of the rhythm game very well and subsequently couldn’t get too far) and of course, there’s a vested interest through Shirai, Masuda and Nishiyama. Update: There’s no Nishiyama in sight. Sorry, guys.
Oh wow. This is exactly as I remember it in the game, right down to the word!
Yay! I was looking forward to seeing the basketball scene adapted, since it’s possibly the only scene I got to experience in the game in its (Japanese) entirety. Bring the dang game to the Western world, Bandai!
Riku is such a pure cinnamon bun when he gets the basketball back.
LOL, Nagi is such a flirt, kyaa~ (semi-sarcastic).
I don’t remember them dropping Trigger’s name so early…geesh, my memory must be sketchier than I thought it was.
Just as a reference, Iori (black) is 17 while Riku (red) is 18.
Ooh, I just spotted a Trigger ad on one building during that cut.
Ooh, good sense of drama these guys have got going.
Idolish 7 2
Expressiveness for a grump like Yamato, LOL.
LOL, there’s a shark in the back…
Iori has a cat shirt, hahaha.
Cool and sharp…stationery? Like a compass?
Iori’s so sarcastic, I can’t tell f he’s ever being serious or not.
I don’t know who’s my favourite so far out of these i7 boys. Probably the one similar to my husbando, Tamaki.
Ahh, gotta love me a good, honest hardworking anime gal. You don’t see them very often, y’know. It’s refreshing.
That was a great Iori impression Mitsuki did, even visually (note: I didn’t listen to Mitsuki do the impression, I only read the subs…hence my comment). Troyca really captured the style of the game, to boot, which is another cherry on the cake.
Notice Iori stands in front of the D.C. (da capo) and leaves to reveal it.
I researched who Riku’s brother is while I was watching ep 1 and…(spoilers for the uninitiated!) the brother is Tenn of Trigger!
There was a soba ad in the back in one lingering shot…
Hey, I get the feeling there’s CGI involved in this dance segment, but it’s…hardly detectable! Amazing! These guys seem to have gone a long way since the horribly animated Monster Generation MV.
Notice they (Troyca) only use CGI in (mostly) shots which don’t involve closeups.
Of course Nagi winks in the middle of his performance…
Whoo, yeah. That was a bold move by Crunchyroll, and of course that would grab me more than just leaking the first ep. I wonder if any critics covered this on their blogs…? Or would it not matter, since critics wouldn’t cover this “uncritical slop” anyway? Nonetheless, I covered it, and that’s what matters! (Update: Yeah, all the critics – Frog-kun, Lauren in Space, Mage in a Barrel etc. - passed on it. As expected of those critics…)
