New Grey’s Anatomy Mid-Season Premiere description and promo pics! I’m so excited!!! Based on the promo trailer that came out a little while ago it looks like they’re going to be wrapping up the human trafficking storyline and most of the action with it will take place on Station 19. Which is good because I never really liked that storyline.

I’m interested to see how everyone reacts to finding out that Meredith has been placed on a vent. Especially Maggie, Hayes, Jackson, and Tom because it’s established in the Mid-Season Finale that Maggie and Tom don’t know yet and it’s unclear if Jackson or Hayes know or not. They’ve obviously hidden those reaction shots from the promo so as not to spoil it. 

And it looks like we’re getting some cute Amelia and Link content! Love it! Although I’m not surprised that Zola looks upset. I’m guessing that she comes out into the backyard and sees them laughing and talking and gets upset at them for being happy when her Mom has just been placed on a vent. 

Aniela Gumbs who plays Zola and has since Season 11 is by far the best child actor on the show and it’s probably why she gets the most screentime. She clearly loves acting and I love that she’s infused Zola with her such a distinct personality. 

I’m guessing that the scene with Jackson and Maggie is him coming by to tell her about Meredith or coming by to talk to her about it after she finds out. I’m interested to see his reaction to finding out that Winston has moved to Seattle and her eventual reaction and everyone else’s to finding out that Jo and Jackson are together!

I’m super excited that we’re getting some Tom and Teddy scenes! I love them together! I think they make a great pairing and a great couple and I’m really hoping that they get back together at some point so I’m excited that they have scenes together in the Premiere and that Teddy is there to comfort Tom who will evidently be distraught when he finds out that Meredith has been placed on a vent. 

I’m also hoping that they wrap up the “Teddy and Owen fight every episode” plotline because man I am sick of it! All they do is fight. We never get any progress or closure and it is time for them to wrap that up. Either decide to make it work or decide to co-parent peacefully but for the love of God make a decision! 

I love that we’re going to be getting some Hayes and Jo scenes in the Premiere! I love their friendship and I love how she’s rooting for him and Meredith to be together! Season 16 had some great scenes with these two and I’ve been disappointed that they haven’t had any scenes together so far this season especially since Jo is thinking of respecializing in a field that is related to Hayes’ specialty. 

I’m excited to see the two of them work on a case together and bend the rules to help a patient and their family. I’m guessing it’s either something to do with the liver baby Luna or another pediatric patient. Having them work a case together also gives the two characters an opportunity to talk about what’s going on with Meredith and for Hayes to talk about his feelings which I’m very excited for. 

I’m glad that Tom is up and talking to Teddy and appears to be okay as I’m really worried that they’re going to kill him off which would be a travesty. I’m excited to see Maggie and Winston reconnect in person! They are super cute and while FaceTime and Zoom calls have been fun I look forward to seeing them spend time together in person. 

Ben is guest starring in this episode which means we’ll get some Ben and Bailey content which I love! He’s the best and they have the sweetest most supportive and loving relationship and I love it everytime they’re on screen together. 

Maya from Station 19 is also guest starring, but Carina isn’t which implies that the bulk of the human trafficking storyling that they set up in the finale will take place on Station 19. My guess is that the DeLuca siblings and Station 19 crew will track down Opal the human trafficker, but that the doctors, fightfighters, and innocent bystanders will be injured in the process. 

As a result, Ben and Maya will come to the hospital to drop off the injured parties and then Ben will stay to talk to Bailey and Maya will go back to the Fire Station to tend to Carina and tie up loose ends.

After yday’s ep and next week’s promo, I need some positive Merluca info. Anything that can help?

I know how you feel, anon! It wasn’t easy to watch those moments. But I’ll try and spread some positivity where I can. Here’s what I’ve got so far.

1) We were warned this was going to happen. Krista Vernoff did explain that things will happen that will “test a new relationship”. I think this is what she was referring to.

2) I highly doubt that the show would have spent a whole season building up the relationship to throw it aside now. And after all, what is going on with Meredith is a serious situation. I think, in the Grey’s universe, it would be hard to find a couple who could get through this sort of drama without any road bumps at all. It’s clear Andrew wants to protect Meredith, while at the same time support her, and I think it’s fair to say that while Meredith’s intentions are good, she is being somewhat reckless with her career and future.

I’ve put the other points under a cut, as they involve speculation and spoilers for upcoming episodes.

3) We know that there is a Halloween episode coming up (16x06), and Aniela Gumbs (who plays Zola) was hinting on instagram (I believe) there will possibly be more scenes with her and Giacomo. And given the episode description involves Meredith not being sure whether she’ll be able to make it in time to take her kids trick or treating, it might be a perfect time for Andrew to step up and show her he isn’t just “sexy” and “fun”. But this is all guesswork (and hope) on my part, of course. 

4) From the scenes that were filmed in Seattle recently, both Ellen and Giacomo were spotted filming an outdoor scene where they were in quite formal - one might say, court or hearing appropriate - clothes. It seems that in future episodes, Andrew is still going to be supporting Meredith throughout this process. Hopefully still as her boyfriend! I’d like to think that means good news, although with Grey’s, you never can tell.

These are just my thoughts, of course. But I’d love to hear what you guys think.
