15 Sexy Travel/Road Trip Romance Books
This romance trope is a personal favorite of mine, because I love the forced proximity and constant contact that comes from traveling together. Spending all of your time with another person reveals so much about your relationship – good and bad – and it can shift the dynamics in the blink of an eye. Forced to go on a work trip with your office rival? Now’s your chance to see them out of the…

do you have any book (or movie recs) that have similar characters to James and Lily? I feel like when I am looking for enemies to lovers books, the characters are just off, or it's just like an aggressive perversion of a great trope. I just want more stories about two good people falling in love lol
i will say that it's so tricky to find media that has the same dynamic... it's usually missing a few ingredients from the special sauce, imo — like, the way the characters interact feels the same but the social positions are inverted... or the vibes are similar but some key detail is kinda off... which is good AU fodder lmao but anyway i say this because the same is true of all of what im gonna recommend here and i want to set ur expectations to where mine tend to be when my jily vibe radar goes off. i.e., i will take the parts i like and enjoy what is there for what it is and then dream up an AU
if you're the same anon who asked @clare-with-no-i about this late last year, you will already kno this, but i'm going to mention some of the classics people mention in terms of starter jily, plus some crowdsourced thoughts:
anne of green gables (which i never read as a child) // anne with an e (which i did watch and adore)
anastasia (1997)
parks and rec (for ben and leslie — i am not a watcher of this show but people do be saying this)
brooklyn 99 (for jake and amy — obviously not perfect but i do see this)
lockwood and co (my jily girlies do seem to love this show)
rogue one (yes the star wars movie, trust)
pirates of the caribbean (ALSO TRUST!!!!!)
here are some that are my stupid little opinions and some books i think r worth trying:
pride & prejudice BUT ALSO emma (james is emma, lily is knightley # real ones know) BUT ALSO persuasion — u can watch the first two but u simply must read the third
palm springs (2020)
a lady's guide to fortune hunting by sophie irwin
shipped by angie hockman
a crown of wishes by roshani chokshi
if you could see the sun by ann liang
the nonesuch by georgette heyer
been watching the artful dodger recently and this is an example of the inverted social status thing but it's real fun and i love it
and trust me on this: anything w george clooney and julia roberts as love interests
#i have some more stuff that's way more ridiculous/the vibes are more like u have to squint to see it#but better to sit on those so i can write them AUs right...#ask me#anon

Book ask: 1,3,14 :)
1.) How many books did you read this year? I'm not finished reading yet, but so far I've read 32 books. 3.) What were your top 5 books of the year?
This is always a tough question to answer... In no particular order: (1) Reindeer People by Megan Lindholm, (2) Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson, (3) Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (reread), (4) Shipped by Angie Hockman, (5) The Sea Ain't Mine Alone by C.L. Beaumont (reread) 14.) What books do you want to finish before the year is over?
Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and several holiday books I reread every year are the main ones.
Thanks for the questions Katie!

132 books! Holy moly. I know it would be asking A LOT but do you think you could post a list of all books? If you don’t want to it’s ok. But wow….
HAHA I know it's nuts but I always have a book on me so I reread in between any free moment. It also turns out that it's 130 books since I double-checked on GoodReads!
I initially had a reading goal of 75 books then bumped it to 100. Throughout this year I've realized, I pick and choose between hobbies so if I'm reading, I don't do any other things. So I sacrifice time to play on my switch/watch tv/write because reading takes first place. Also, GoodReads does count epilogues and webtoons as books so I do as well lol. Which is how I'm currently on the 131st book 😂 But sure! I love talking about books so I will list them under the read more!

July Reads
Hi! As with every last day of the month, I would like to tell the books I have read this month. In this example, they are 10 from, romances, mostly contemporary and historical but also some mysteries. I would talk about them in the order I have read them (I would live their Goodreads links if you want to check them out):
1. The Hound of Death (Agatha Cristie): A collection of Short stories, mostly horror but good ones as they have elements of mysteries but most of them have sad endings that have to do with death and magic.
2. The Island (Agatha Cristie): A spiritual story about a woman that raises her son on an Island. The story is spiritual and dramatic.
3. What Happens in the Ballroom or An Earl for Eliza (Sabrina Jeffries): It is the second book in the Designing Debutantes Series that I thought was good and steamy and it had the right amount of plot for a romantic drama.
4. A Duke for Diana (Sabrina Jeffries): I liked this one better than the previous one as I was more invested in the characters and their stories, especially the two protagonists. It was also steamy and romantic but it has a side couple and characters that made it enjoyable.
5. The Mystery of the Spanish Shawl (Agatha Cristie): I loved that short story about a novelist who hadn’t the inspiration to write about a cucumber but his imagination sent him on a quest for a shawl that in the end wrote about.
6. Get a Room (Casey Dembowski): A contemporary romantic comedy that was steamy romantic and exciting from the beginning to the end. I loved the characters, all three of them as it was the protagonists and their friends and family. It helped me to travel in the autumn to Philadelphia and the art scene of the city which I liked very much.
7. Study in Scarlet (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle): I have to confess that this was the first Sherlock Holmes book I read and I like it even if I didn’t go into the book as easily as other mystery books but when I got to the point that the plot started to thicken then I loved the descriptive passages and the interactions between the characters.
8. Shipped (Angie Hockman): An enemies to lovers and a workplace romance on a cruise about a promotion. The book is on a cruise at Galapagos which I believe they have beautiful descriptions in the books. Also, the main protagonist is amazing and powerful and wants to change the world and the company she works for. The other characters are amazing and we learn their backstories too.
9. Falling Inn Love (Erin Branscom): I loved this book and the author and innkeeper. Yes, it was romantic but had an amazing cast and protagonists in an Inn in New Hampshire owned by the family of a former marine.
10. Baked Inn Love (Erin Branscom): A book about a road trip and two characters that have many things in common and make the most interesting cross-country trip in America, from California to New Hampshire, as we are going to the Inn from the previous book. I enjoyed the chemistry of the two main characters, also the snippets we get for characters from the previous book.
