Kalem di Dunia Nyata, Kelam di Dunia Maya . Sayang seribu sayang, fungsi sosial media sebagai penyambung lidah ekspresi kedirian dengan jujur, yang mana para nenek moyang susah menemukan hal- hal semacam itu di zaman batu dulu, hari ini malah latah disalahgunakan. Dufresne dan anak tongkrongannya lebih memilih menjadi hamba pasar yang menjajakkan dirinya sesuai pesanan khalayak awam, menghianati jadi diri sendiri. . Mereka yang ngebet mau terus ditaksir sebagai ustadz (karena prestise-nya yang tinggi di mata manusia Indonesia), tinggal rajin- rajin selfie pakai peci, sambil konsisten shar-sher potongan ceramah da'i- da'i kondang. Benar salah, hoax atau bukan, itu urusan belakangan. . Makanya, sosial media sejatinya tak ubahnya seperti penjara Shawshank apabila tuan pengampunya, tak mampu bijaksana menghuninya. Yang kasat mata memang terlihat berbatas, namun sejatinya yang ketidakberbatas amat sangat luas di sana. . Alih- alih jadi pundak ratapan tempat satu- satunya mengadu tentang ekspresi diri yang jujur, bagi Dufresne dan anak tongkrongannya, sosial media tak ubahnya seperti dinding penjara, tempat mengukir dengan konsisten sebuah rahasia pribadi: "Di dunia nyata aku adalah orang yang kalem, tak begitu banyak kalam. It’s easy to think of the ‘Redemption’ in Shawshank simply as ‘freedom’ and therefore of Andy Dufresne’s desire to escape. But to redeem something can also mean to buy something back – to reclaim it, and there is a sense in which Andy manages to reclaim the very time which has been taken from him by daily refusing to live the same way as the violent inmates, brutal guards or corrupt warden. What makes Andy (Tim Robbins) special then is not just that he manages to hold on to hope for decades, but that by doing so he manages to live a life of principle and kindness despite his circumstances. And so, at different times he tells ‘Red’ (Morgan Freeman) both "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things", and also; "I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying". Andy's hope for the future doesn't stop him choosing to live his life as best he can now, and we see this in numerous ways throughout the film – particularly in his regard for his fellow prisoners and his efforts to improve their lot. Christians hold on to a hope for future redemption too, but like Andy we need to remember that authentic hope is not just about the future but also needs to transform (redeem) the present. This moment leaves me speechless every time - so profound. Andy Dufresne is still one of my favorite movie characters and Tim Robbins played him perfectly.
