Does anyone ever wonder about Andrew Robinson's thoughts on Doctor Bashir I Presume? Like, does he have any thoughts on why he wasn't in such a vital episode of Julian's development? Did they fear Garak would attack Julian's parents for making him feel like he was never good enough and could only be enough by being illegally augmented? For making him live in fear for the last 16 or 17 years of being discovered? Maybe throttle his parents for being so stupid they couldn't tell their son from a hologram (and man, what this must do to Julian's psyche; first Julian's friends can't tell him from a Changeling, and then his parents can't tell him from a hologram. It's amazing Julian didn't develop an identity crisis or something over this)? Maybe arrange an accident for Zimmerman so he couldn't reveal Julian's secret?

Or did they fear Garak would ignore the censor's warnings and kiss Julian full on the mouth for realizing the friend he despaired over being unable to lie for so long turned out to be a magnificent liar after all?

Ok but can u imagine being an actor vehemently playing a character as gay and spending the next 30 years talking about how the character is gay in every single interview/comicon/video and even writing two plays and a novel about it, to finally get to voice act the character at the ripe age of 82 and canonically make them gay.

i am obsessed with this moment from what we left behind. ira steven behr is basically like, "yeah so were they buddies? ^w^" and andrew robinson in a completely deadpan, 100% serious tone just says "they fucked." he doesn't hesitate, he doesn't miss a beat. he believes in garashir with his heart and soul and that is just so incredibly awesome

i love that they had to do a double alternate timeline plot to get canon garashir past the higher-ups (and i’m still impressed that they managed it at all like holy shit) but i bet getting sid and andy, the original actors, to guest star to make this happen was the easiest part. those two were probably the first ones on board. they probably suggested pet names and shit. the absolute legends that are alexander siddig and andrew robinson. no one does it like those two. no one.

The fact that garashir became canon is 100% thanks to Sid and Andy who have both been very vocal about this ship and still talk about it 30 years later. They are the number one shippers of the pairing and I can't help but think it happened thanks to their dedication to it.

This is a clip from a YouTube upload by Mary Knasinski of Sid and Nana in Missouri in 2000. They are asked about working with Andy and Nana recounts an outtake of being unable to stop laughing to get a scene done with Andy that then irritates him because (as Sid says) for Garak he was “in a wetsuit glued to his body” and he can’t stand the heat, thus he wants to get his scenes done as soon as possible so he can get out of costume. Sid then goes on to give THE best impersonation of an angry and irritated Andy that only a best friend can do so wonderfully.
