What would fix me
That Carmy shows up at Syd's place and finds her on the floor, shaking and regrets the day he was born then proceeds to comfort her and tell her that no review or bullshit star is worth feeling like that and that he knew this was gonna happen and she tells him that the review or the bullshit star have nothing to do with how she feels, that she actually wants to quit because she can't take him anymore, he's not the same but at the same time she can't make herself leave him and all the dreams they have together. And then he just feels like shit and actually asks her to go because he doesn't wanna hurt her and she just straight up says, no. I wanna stay, but not with you. This is not working, I want the old Carmy back, the one who told me he wasn't gonna let me fail or leave me alone. Not this psycho! Not this robot. "I want you back, Carmy". Then she signs the agreement and joins the family business as a formal partner.
And then he struggles for a while, tip toes around her, goes to individual therapy and gets a shrink who medicates him properly and a loan in the bank so he can pay Cicero back and get him off their ass and then, eventually, with Syd's help and after months of treatment, he actually does get better and the old Carmy is fully back. By then his relationship with Syd is totally OK, not just professionally, they become BFFs. But at that point Syd and Luca are together and Carmy, who in therapy has come to terms with his real feelings for Syd is suffering in silence because he wants her as more than just friends but since he sees she's happy with Luca, he STFU about it. He knows he lost his chance. He hates himself for this.
Claire has moved on, Richie and Jess are going strong and after completing his apology tour Carmy realizes that he has mended all the hearts he had broken in the past except his own. He's not alone, he knows, but he feels like it.
Carmy has now learned to use his words pretty damn well, so he deals with this loneliness in a quite healthy way, in therapy and embraces this solitude. He realizes it's different from the self-imposed loneliness he was trapped in before, in that prison of his own making he used to call work. Now he's alone because it's just healthier for him that way, not because he can't be with anyone in a healthy way or because he pushes everyone away. He chooses this loneliness now as a way to preserve himself because he knows that the only person he wants to be with is not available and no longer sublimates his frustration in other people, mistaking them for substitutes of who he really wants to be with. He has learned that love happens and should be honored and respected. Can't be built and it most certainly can't be forced. Love is not something you have to earn or deserve, you either feel it or you don't, you are either prepared to express it in a healthy way or you are not and it becomes toxic, you give it to someone or you keep it to yourself, but you do not control it or deny it. It's futile to try to do that. It just can't be done, not in a non-self-destructive way, anyway...
After a few months of honeymoon phase with Luca he has to come back to Noma and offers Sydney to come with him. She thinks about it and eventually accepts the offer. Carmy is brokenhearted but plays it cool. He wants her to be happy, so they let each other go.
A year later Syd and Carmy reunite at the Michelin star award show because even though she no longer works for The Bear, the star they win actually correspondes to the previous year's run, when she still was The Bear's CDC.
They reconnect and realize how much they missed each other even though they had been in constant contact via the occasional texts and phone calls.
A few months later, Syd and Luca break up and Syd comes back to the US, not to work at The Bear anymore, but to open her own dream spot at the same place where The Bear used to be, because after getting that star Carmy sold the restaurant to LIVE, just like Andrea did.
He now has an art gallery in Riverwalk.
Syd bought the place and turned it into the BEST BACON EVER place.
They are just friends. They are sooooo happy for each other's success!
During Xmas dinner at The Berzatto's Syd and her father are casually talking to Donna about her recovery, they praise her progress, she's like this new person, this loving grandma, they are really proud of her and let her know. Meanwhile Carmy and Sugar are in the kitchen finishing up the 7 fishes they will shortly serve and Pete and Richy are in charge of the kids, making sure they don't fully tear the place down, kinda failing at it because they are out numbered. There's Eva who's like the Captain of the gang and there's both of Sugar's kids, plus little Mikey, Richie and Jess' toddler who just chases the older kids around and giggles, falling on his ass every now and then and giggling some more. Jess is in charge of setting the table that looks like an Ever table when she's finished.
After dinner, they are all enjoying themselves in different rooms of the house and Syd and Carm end up in the garage looking for old cookbooks Carm wanted to show her and all of a sudden they realize they are under a mistletoe, so they awkwardly kiss, softly and coyly at first but then they look into each other's eyes and all the time that went by between that moment when she had the best meal she ever and that first kiss, dissolves. This force rises up from within them, from their very core, and ignites a fire in their hearts that brings them so close together that a new kiss is inevitable but this time it is as if the gates of heaven opened in their mouths and this beautifully overwhelming power consumes them. Their lips lock and the rest is history. They never let go of each other anymore.
They realize that they have always been together in other ways, but this time they choose to be together in every way possible and never part ways again.

John Boyd Dunlop, who patented the first practical pneumatic tyre, was born in Ayrshire on February 5th 1846.
Dunlop worked as a veterinary surgeon in Edinburgh for almost a decade before moving to Ireland.
It was whilst in Ireland he first noticed that horses had to pull very heavy loads, straining against solid leather collars. So he attempted to make an air cushion collar to ease their burden. While he was working on this idea, his young son, Johnnie, complained to him about the bumpy cobblestones of the Belfast streets which made it very uncomfortable for him to ride his tricycle. All the tyres on all tricycles and bicycles were made of solid rubber at that time. John Boyd Dunlop decided to do something about it.
He consulted his doctor, Sir John Fagan, who told him how he had been able to make his very sick patients comfortable by having them lie on air cushions in hospital. Dunlop wondered whether his son Johnnie would be more comfortable on his tricycle if he could make air cushion tyres for it instead of the solid ones.
So Dunlop had come up with an idea to smooth out the youngster’s ride. He made a set of tires for the tricycle. He took two strips of rubber, and glued the edges together to make a tube. He wrapped the tube around the tricycle wheel, and wrapped the tube in linen tape to give the tire a tread. Then he did something which was unusual for the time. He filled the rubber tube with air using a pump made for filling footballs.
He wasn’t the first to do this. Another Scottish inventor named Robert Thompson had invented an inflatable tire back in 1845, but no one paid much attention to it. So it was left to Dunlop to reinvent the pneumatic tire forty-three years later.
It soon became very popular because it was discovered that as well as being more comfortable, a cyclist could travel faster and with less effort using pneumatic tyres. Dunlop patented his design in 1888. In 1889 the Pneumatic Tyre Company was set up and after more development the tyre was made suitable for all sorts of vehicles, especially cars. Within ten years of patenting the device, it had almost entirely replaced solid tires and had been implemented for use in the new automobiles by Andre and Edouard Michelin.
John established what would become the Dunlop Rubber Company but had to fight and win a legal battle with Thomson. John Dunlop did not benefit much financially from his invention - he sold the patent and company name early on. Despite Thomson’s earlier work, Dunlop is credited with the invention of the modern rubber tyre.

His reign lasted until 1584 and brought much needed reforms including a new legal code and cultural development. However, during his reign he instituted a campaign of terror against the Russian nobility and had over 3,000 persons put to death. He also killed his own son during a fit of rage.

Guy Savoy, Named "Best Chef In The World", Stripped Of Michelin Star
The 69-year-old has held Michelin's top three-star status since 2002 for his Monnaie de Paris restaurant overlooking the Seine.
Tumblr media
Paris: The Michelin Guide announced Monday the shock decision to knock a star off the Paris restaurant of Guy Savoy, frequently named the best chef in the world.
The 69-year-old has held Michelin's top three-star status since 2002 for his Monnaie de Paris restaurant overlooking the Seine, which has a sister version in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
In November he was named best chef in the world for the sixth year running by La Liste, which aggregates thousands of reviews from around the world.
Savoy's fame goes beyond the kitchen as an ambassador for the French "art de vivre" -- he has pointedly rejected the fad for non-alcoholic drinks, for instance -- and he lent his voice to the French version of Pixar film "Ratatouille".
But that has not stopped Michelin downgrading his establishment to two stars in its latest edition, published next Monday.
It did the same for the upmarket seafood eatery of Christopher Coutanceau in La Rochelle.
"These are exceptional restaurants, so you can imagine that these decisions are carefully considered, supported by numerous visits from our inspectors throughout the year," Gwendal Poullennec, head of the guide, told AFP.
The reasons are not made public, and communicated only to the chefs involved.
"For such important decisions, we include not just French inspectors but also some from other countries," said Poullennec.
The move to downgrade restaurants is always hugely controversial, especially since the suicide 20 years ago of Bernard Loiseau -- a close friend of Savoy -- after his restaurant lost a star.
One chef, Marc Veyrat, unsuccessfully took the guide to court in 2019 after being stripped of a star, and said he never again wanted to see a Michelin inspector in his restaurants.
Around 20 French restaurants have also been downgraded from two to one star in the latest edition of the guide.
It had not downgraded anyone since 2019, conscious of the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Those difficulties have continued with restaurants facing staffing shortages and, in the last year, soaring prices.
But the guide says downgrades are now necessary if it is to stay relevant.
"Yes, there are challenges, but they are challenges for everyone," said Poullennec.
Created in 1900 by tyre manufacturers Andre and Edouard Michelin as a guide for motorists, it now has editions across Europe, Asia, North and South America.

inside job master chef AU with rand JR and tamiko as judges . rand is a sort of casual crass judge, speaks very bluntly but is the one contestants want to impress the most. JR is your average rich restaurant goer so he wants intelligent and expertly crafted dishes with intense flavor profiles. tamiko is about that picturesque WOW factor and wants new and exciting flavor combinations and plating techniques
reagan: highly technical with a love for complicated gourmet michelin dishes. wants rands approval and is extremely mad about it. highly independent worker, and though i think she’d likely make it to the semifinals or finals she would likely face elimination in a team challenge or the restaurant takeover unless she was captain
gigi: great with visuals and infusing her atlanta background to create highly modern and beautiful looking dishes. likely works with a lot of trendy ingredients and dishes, so something like a mystery box challenge would pose a hard challenge for her as she has a very small range of dishes she’s comfortable with creating
andre: the wild card. makes strange, culturally diverse foods with highly conceptual and abstract ideas and flavor profiles. judges are constantly stumped by his abilities despite his usually quite casual demeanor in the master chef kitchen. crumbles under extreme pressure in the restaurant takeover at first, but as soon as he’s able to take a “bathroom break” he’s an instant star. definitely a possible finalist
brett: highly skilled cook, though not the best among the cast, but what he lacks in technique he makes up for in gusto and his understanding of what other people enjoy. his ability to tackle challenges is very headstrong because he wants to impress more than he wants to win. his palate is very sophisticated (from his parents) and his understanding of gourmet cuisine is very advanced (from his house staff), but i think if anyone yelled at him he would break like a fucking soggy cracker
myc: he’s in a human glamour on tv obviously, but i think it’d still be funny if he was an alien. the judges know this but the rest of the cast and the audience do not. because of this his concept of food combinations is quite literally beyond human understanding. tries to avoid using mushrooms and similar ingredients, but his palate and choices are insane, near on the level of andre. he’s fantastic at working with colors in plating, but i think some of his combinations and flavors may be a little too camp and clash. he’s kind of an asshole and would likely do badly in a team challenge unless he was with someone who could easily let his insults roll off like glenn (who’s used to them) or andre (who isn’t paying attention)
glenn: also fully human in this— hearty chef, great at cooking comfort food in large portions and has a lot of gumption with working with heavy machinery and butchery. a bit of a sore loser, but he has a great taste for protein especially and could out grill, out sear, and out marinate pretty much any other competitor. not as intelligent with plating but his knowledge of flavor profiles is very rational and he could definitely cook something he’s never eaten with little issue, especially a meat.
robotus: surprise competitor. technically near-perfect and conceptually has a deep understanding of several cultures and types of cooking. is even better at baking and could destroy a bakery challenge. however his food tends to lack ‘soul’ and creativity at first until he’s able to learn from the other competitors around him. i think he’d make a great finalist or semi finalist
