A post about applying animations/poses onto characters that they were not made for (w/ Ace attorney model rips)
Because although the poses for a character are stored with the character they're meant for, there's nothing stopping you from giving them to someone else, and I've been having fun with it đ
First, for reference, characters with one of their own poses (...although perhaps at some slightly different angles than they're intended to be seen):
I suppose it shouldn't be surprising that the greater the difference in proportion the characters have, the weirder a swapped pose will come out. This especially applies to faces, because the bones will be placed as if it were for the expected character which uh. screws em up a bit. BUT it's very possible to tweak them into something that works!
Here's those same poses shuffled to someone else, with a little tidying up (It's really fun to actually?? :o)
And here's the unmodified versions of the switched poses, if you're curious:
I don't know what about Klavier's face makes Athena's jawbone jam into her skull in such a way - yes. yes that was part of the problem. that bone should not be there. (also the fact that earring movement translated to making apollo's wrist twitch like that fascinating)
While the lads weren't much work off the bat, everything with Athena's face and hair was so mangled I cleared most of the animation there and just did it myself. An very interesting way of getting practice in, that's for sure. I also made the oversight of giving the earring-batting animation to the one that doesn't have an earring so I made his hair twitch instead. working with apollo's hair is great actually
Synchronised falling
(i've been given too much power. as soon as the falling over stops being part of a dramatic moment in the game its comedy value increases tenfold)
Also here's Klavier with that Apollo folded arms pose while I'm at it. Gave me a jumpscare bc it has such Kristoph vibes
Anyway it's great fun giving some of my favourite lil guys' mannerisms to each other so i hope you found it fun too đ

Iâve had,,, an idea,,, like a beautiful, beautiful idea for a fantasy creature Au for ace attorney.
Iâve had oread* miles edgeworth and fire spirit phoenix wright FUCKING INVADING MY BRAIN. Hereâs some of my brain rot. And the reference pose I used just in case someone was looking for it (thank you og pose posters of the art world you are gifts of gods I swear it, I used number three but I altered the shit out of it AND THOSE HANDS TURNED OUT SO DAMN NICE) and I have ideas for who is what if yall wanna hear me out. (Please say you do Iâm begging I wanna theory dump so bad)
So some tidbits. Yes Phoenix has little fire wings and he can (kind of anyway, itâs more like floating) fly. It is important to note; heâs not a true Phoenix, just an elemental being made of fire. He can change his form (heâs literally an essence of fire itself contained in an elemental core.) They flare when he gets happy, excited, jealous, worried, or angry. They tend to recede or die out when heâs sardonic or in any other depressive mood. He also flutters them a little when heâs really stoked or happy.
He can control how hot his external flames burn, same with his wing size (when he thinks about it).
If his internal flame goes out he dies. If it dims due to illness or lowered body temp, he does get really sick (like a flame getting weaker- yes he was really not ok after the bridge incident, and the taser gave him fever chills for two days after because it was too close to his heart. Glass had to be removed from his stomach after Dahlia because he canât fucking digest glass and it melted into a huge wad in his stomach causing a large blockage. The poison dahlia used had a side effect of lowering body temp, so Phoenix still got sick from being stupid.)
Also. This motherfucker has to eat. A LOT he literally has to consume a fuel source (food, coal, wood, anything that can burn) so he doesnât yknow. Stop burning.
He does glow! From the inside out! Lantern boi.
Miles is an Oread. Oreads are Greek rock, valley, mountain, and grotto spirits.
Heâs made of limestone. Looks intimidating, but crumbles apart easy.
Yes. He does grow garnet crystals out of his horns.
He can mold and shape rocks at will, which is useful because when he pushes himself too hard or is stressed he canât hide it. His body parts just start crumbling off. (Dw, they snap back into place like nothing happened but itâs definitely unsettling. Think: âYour armâs off!â âItâs but a fleshwound.â)
I gave him a tail and more animal like legs to be more of a representation of animals that live in his life source area (thereâs a sacred grotto heâs bound to, same one as his father, he visits to check in every once in awhile.)
Because his life essence is linked to the grotto, he can only get sick or die if his source area is sick or dying/destroyed- or if his heart is damaged or destroyed (itâs like a little physical link to their source area, canât function without it.)
Earthquakes are still big scary. Theyâre extremely painful, like if all your growing pains hit at once. Miles experienced his first one when trapped in that elevator, which freaked him out so bad on top of the fighting that⊠well, we know how it ended. Even though he doesnât need to breathe (made of rock) he still had a panic attack from stress and went unconscious from it. Not fun.
Also!! If he blushes too hard, he can melt!! His ear!! Itâs melty!!
Big teefs for eatin rock. He does have to consume extra mineral rocks or he can be a little brittle.
He can shift into a more âhumanâ form without a tail and with regular legs, but itâs not as comfortable as his standard form. Bratworth definitely spent more time than he shouldâve trying to look more human to fit in with the Von Karmas.
He wiggles his lil ears when heâs content or happy. Because thatâs cute and it makes me happy.
Iâve been thinking up theories for like most of the cast. Vote in the poll if you wanna hear more!

PINNED POST
Puff / Holmes / The Great Detective / whatever else â
They / them (or she/her, nbd really) â
Proud owner of the most insane Klavier headcanon(s) â
This is a sideblog! â
Associated with my friend @/purpleleavesday â
Tagging "#dgs2 spoilers" â
Critter masterpost â
Ask about my server!
I'm very chatty, so assorted trivia is below the Read More, as to not turn my bio into an eyesore. Will be updated as relevant. Asks are always appreciated!
Total time spent in the Attorney Mines...
When I say I've been enjoying these games since I was a kid, however it's a bit false to say I've been playing them that long. I've more been watching them be played, until now, as well as observing the lawyer yaoi on my dash. This series has been a massive part of my life for about as long as I can recall, I just... Didn't quite play them until recently. I'm new-ish but I feel like it's important to point out that I really have been here a while, in spirit.
Klavier headcanons..?
There's about two total, the one in my URL, and one I'm moreso sworn into secrecy over. The one in my URL is... It's very important to me. If you see Klavier on this blog, please read him in a goofy Australian accent. My brother does voice stuff, and when we were reading for Ace Attorney, he just turned Australian and I can't unhear it.
Sholmes kinning you..?
Yeah, so... He just like me. Same poses, same catchphrases, detective as a gender and not a profession, big yellow-ish coat. Most damningly, I do unfortunately represent myself through a funny little bunny, and have since I was a small child, and it's literally just the Sholmes bunny. I'm so serious and I could prove it. Most importantly, I've been doing all this for years. It's literally just how I act! And almost always have! What! I joke about kinning him (or, in this case, being kinned by him) but it's just in good fun.
You look familiar...
HI. YOU GOT ME. Yes, it's Puff, your silly rabbit and right hand arm man. Sorry to all my main blog oomfies to which I did NOT announce this to, but hi, enjoy your stay!
Dear fellow, what in the world is happening in your icon?
Gonna make this quick or I'm gonna start crying laughing again. I sometimes use 3D models as reference, and a friend was helping me clean / rig the Sholmes model rip I had and... When he sent me the file, he did something wrong by accident..? And Sholmes ended up looking SO joyous, but he strictly did NOT do that on purpose like I thought, so we both ended up crying real tears over it. Therefore, I'm using that as a base for my icon while I work on a better one.
Mutuals* can...
By mutuals, I mean followers, really, but feel free to ask for my main if you're unsure or otherwise reach out! I don't have a lot else going on (I started playing Ace Attorney because I'm too injured for my other hobbies so any distraction is very welcomed) and am willing to chat, as long as you don't mind the fact I'm maybe a little Insane :')
Tags to acquaint yourself with
I don't keep many, but my save tag is "#case notes", my catch-all art tag is "#the deduction of art", my tag for polls is "#I canât make bricks without clay", my talking tag is "#a study in screaming", and my asks tag is "#consultations"! Will be updating this later as necessary
The banners...
First off! No interest in men. I like to make jokes, but they're just that! I've called Kazuma "dreamy" more times than I can recall, but legit I do not mean it outside an objective context. I don't mean to be needlessly hostile, but the second is to preemptively warn off weirdos! If you're going to be Nasty or Weird (especially about characters who are minors) then please see yourself out! If you're "proship" or whatever, I don't have much interest in welcoming you to my blog.

Have you ever wanted to draw something but you fought due to your skill level at the time you decide not to do it
yes! It is something I still struggle with a lot, actually, there are multiple things I'd love to do but due to my skill level I just end up giving up mid-way through because it looks terrible, I do NOT "trust the process" enough to give it to myself. but there are some ways I curb it, by finding real-life references and warming up before I decide to start drawing! references the beloved fr fr, and some of my major drawings have speed paints. In most of them, you can see the reference I use! hell, I even end up using MYSELF As a reference if I can find the specific pose I'm looking for.
most of the time, with skill level issues regarding drawing at least, you just need to do more to get out of your comfort zone, not liking ur lineart? change ur brush, not like ur shading? search up a few tutorials, not liking the sketch? do thumbnails, find the pose you want online, and do whatever you can to push yourself out of ur comfort zone constantly so you can continuously improve, that's something I didn't learn until I started drawing Ace Attorney at the beginning of the pandemic, the square men tm made me improve DRASTICALLY. find a game you love and use it to improve as well, use those characters to push yourself even further!. geez, what I wrote a lot.. erm.. TLDR: get good/j TLDR (FOR REALS: get a game you can easily get addicted to, and that has a fandom, and use it to push your skill further, whether writing or drawing or even sewing, make that costume! make that fic! make that drawing! push yourself out of ur comfort zone!
#shut up dino#asks#tiger9o0 ask#i rlly got alot to say about this#sorry for the long post yall i got this question and went âso let me write a novel about my experience with thisâ#zamn.

okay so @collabwithmyself starting drawing some AA fusions and I am a MASSIVE sucker for those kinds of AUs, so as soon as the inspiration struck I had to drop everything to scribble my favorite pseudosibling duo
sithena?? is a courthouse POWERHOUSE. very smiley, very threatening. can, should, must, and will throw down with anyone anywhere. will get the witness to confess before anyone realizes what psychological tricks theyâre pulling. taka likes to nest in their hair and apollo is furious that they are now a whole two feet taller than him. I love them.

Van Zieks - the Examination, Part 1
Warnings: SPOILERS for The Great Ace Attorney: Chronicles. Additional warning for racist sentiments uttered by fictional characters (and screencaps to show these sentiments).
Disclaimer: These posts are not meant to be taken as fact. Everything I'm outlining stems from my own views and experiences. I am a 30-something European woman, and therefore may not view the matter from certain angles. That said, I'm always open to more input from others. If you believe that I've missed or misinterpreted something, please let me know so I can edit the post accordingly. If we can make this a team effort, I would love that.
The purpose of these posts is an analysis, nothing more. Please do not come into these posts expecting me to either defend Barok van Zieks from haters, nor expecting me to encourage the hatred. I am of the firm belief that characters are no more than a tool created to serve a narrative purpose, therefore the question I'm posing is whether or not Barok van Zieks serves this purpose. That's all I'm doing here.
I'm using the Western release of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles for these posts, but may refer to the original Japanese dialogue of Dai Gyakuten Saiban if needed to compare what's said. This also means Iâm using the localized names and localized romanization of the names to stay consistent.
It doesn't matter one bit to me whether you like Barok van Zieks or dislike him. He's not real anyway, so he can't suffer from it. However, I will ask that everyone who comments refrains from attacking real, actual people. If you know you're morally in the right, there should be no need for insults to begin with. Let's keep this conversation civil and constructive! As the first post in a series, letâs first start by examining the expectations we would have for a character like this. The purpose he was meant to serve.
1: Expectations
As I said in a different Barok-related essay, the main prosecutor of any Ace Attorney game has been, and always will be, an antagonistic force. Not a villain, not even necessarily someone who exhibits immoral traits. (Hi Klavier!) Just someone who impedes the protagâs goal of getting a not-guilty verdict. In order to have an effective antagonist, they need to mirror the protag's weaknesses back at them. Ace Attorney does this quite well, as the prosecutors represent the obstacle/turmoil that the defense needs to overcome. Often times, the prosecutor is also tied to a pivotal moment in the attorney's past, making sure the strife is quite personal.
Considering the game's plot and settings, it would've been difficult for Barok to be tied to Ryunosuke's past. (He is tied to Asogi's past, funnily enough, but that's a matter I also addressed in that other Barok essay.) So instead, Barok represents Ryunosuke's struggle in more of a figurehead capacity. I've seen people dub him the 'CEO of Racism', and I'm not gonna lie, in a way that's correct. Barok was designed to be the mouthpiece of the harmful sentiments Japanese exchange students would have encountered in the 1900s. By extension, since Ryunosuke is an exchange student unfamiliar with the British courts (or even courts in general), the prosecutor would target the fact that Ryunosuke 'does not understand how things are done here'. Which he does- a lot. This makes it all the more satisfying when Ryunosuke proves him wrong by outsmarting him and using Britain's own laws (such as the closing argument) against him. So yes, you may hate Barok for uttering racist sentiments and dismissing Ryunosuke's abilities, but the ultimate goal here is that Barok's defeat is made sweeter as a result. The narrative end-game is Ryunosuke's triumph and validation in the courtroom.
Was there a different personal struggle Barok could have represented? Yes, but also no. Sure, his vendetta could have been strictly with the Asogi family and Ryunosuke could have admitted to carrying Asogi's resolve, not knowing what it meant. Though that wouldâve implied very early that Asogi had a history of sorts in Britain and wouldâve destroyed some of the surprise we experience in game 2. Alternatively, there was also the 'parallel' antagonist angle. The sort of villain who says the line âwe're not so different, you and I.â The antagonist who shows what happens when someone with the same skills or motivations follows the wrong path, which emphasizes the right path for the protagonist. However, I can't see that working in the plot of this game.
A purposeful decision was made by the writers to have prejudice be a central theme of the plot. This is the matter that hits the hardest in an emotional sense. Therefore, having Barok be the centerpiece of this prejudice ensures he leaves the biggest narrative impact.
---
However, another long-running aspect of the AA prosecutor is the redemption arc, so let's turn our attention to that!
I'm not going to put too much effort into explaining this, I just want to talk about the requirements of a redemption arc. We all know these types of arcs, a lot of Ace Attorney prosecutors have them. We see them in fiction all over. Noteworthy examples of redemption arcs done well include Zuko from The Last Airbender, Michael from The Good Place... For argument's sake, let's toss Edgeworth in there too. I'm not saying Edgeworth's arc is done well, but at the very least it is accepted by most as something that served its intended purpose. I've never seen anyone question Edgeworth's transformation.
See, what we have here is a bit of a misnomer when it comes to what people expect to get out of these types of arcs. Redemption in itself is only 'deliverance from sin' or 'being saved from evil'. It's the thought that a horrible person can still see the error of their ways before it's 'too late'. However, when it comes to absorbing media, often a character gaining knowledge that they were in the wrong isn't enough to satisfy the audience. Would Edgeworth have had a satisfying redemption arc if he'd acknowledged his arrogance and dirty tactics, only to retire as a prosecutor? No way. We needed him to return in the following games to give us an update on his status. Standing in court as a defense attorney, at the risk of damaging his reputation, was the moment we knew he'd grown for the better.
What we require for the arc to come to a good conclusion is atonement. The character in question must not only apologize for their actions, but repent in a more active manner to show that they've changed their ways. Following that, the atonement must be acknowledged by others. So for example, Zuko joins the ATLA gang to help them in any way that he can until even the most skeptical of the group, Katara, acknowledges his transformation into a better person. Now add to this the notion that the character's atonement must be virtuous and sincere. The Good Place is a fascinating look into the debate of 'is it ever too late for a person to change?' and the moral complications of changing in the first place. If you're only doing good things because you want to be saved from damnation, are you being a good person or are you being selfish? There's such a thing as corrupt motivation; only doing good because it is expected. For example, does sponsoring a library make Magnus McGilded a good person? It does not, since he's only doing it to boost his own reputation and have people believe he's selfless.
As a final note, I want to ask: Does a redemption arc require a backstory to justify the character's immoral ways? Personally, I don't think that it does. It's good to have, since it allows an audience to empathize with the character and give them more of a reason to root for them. It turns the redemption arc into a tale about overcoming past trauma. However, it can backfire when done badly and lead to frustration. (I'm looking at you, live action Disney movies!) Some characters are evil just for the sake of being evil and even then, they can turn over a new leaf because they realize it is just so much more rewarding to be good. Just look at Michael from The Good Place.
What's more effective than a backstory, in my opinion, is smaller details to humanize a character. Humanization can also lead to empathy, perhaps even relatability, and helps us believe that they're capable of change. We need to be told that a character has their own fears, their own flaws, their own odd little habits which deviate from the norm... Again, I'll point to Michael from The Good Place for this. Another humanization tactic, which we see employed often in Ace Attorney, is to display a prosecutor's likes and hobbies outside the courtroom. Edgeworth's fanboying over the Steel Samurai, Blackquill's love for birds, Nahyuta's willingness to stand in line for hours to get his hands on a delicious burger... I've feel ya, Nahyuta. This tactic is more readily employed in Ace Attorney because it's difficult to place a prosecutor in a position of weakness before the final showdown. You can show them tending to hobbies during Investigation segments, but you can't show them waking up from a nightmare or wondering whether their father loves them. Well, not until case 5 of that game, anyway. By then, it's too late to serve as the sole humanization factor. Did Van Zieks need to be redeemed at all? The way I see it, the only correct answer is yes. What do we want to see in our world? Do we want people who hold racist prejudice to acknowledge their faults and become better, or do we want them to die clinging to their shitty moral compass? Do we want a world where everyone learns to get along, or do we want a world where people continue to be in the wrong and act like assholes until they inevitably get punished by law for something or another? Van Zieks needed to be redeemed in order to teach that valuable lesson that itâs never too late to be a good person and that it pays to be a good person.
So to summarize, what we needed from Barok van Zieks was the following:
1) Present an antagonistic (possibly immoral) force who personifies Ryunosuke's biggest personal obstacle/weakness, in this case racial prejudice. 2) Humanizing traits begin to show. OPTIONAL: A backstory to justify any immorality he has. 3) Over time, Barok has his realization and sees the error of his ways. 4) Barok atones for his immorality, not simply through apology but by taking decisive steps. 5) The cast around him acknowledges his efforts and forgives him.
This leaves us with the question: Does the game deliver on these points? Well, let's boot it up and find out! Stay tuned for The Adventure of the Runaway Room! (as a warning, itâs gonna be LONG)

Best Friends - an EDL Bonus
A/N: This is just a collection of Devon and Sonny bonding--I wanted them to be close, but there was nowhere to really put it in the main story. This chapter references âSheltered Outcastsâ and âIntersecting Lives/Heartfelt Passagesâ (yup, Mike dies in this one--I very briefly mention it). This takes place in the middle of chapter 15, but does not spoil anything for that chapter. Also hey! The dude who threatened Barba in the show is here!

SVU Department
Friday, March 18th. 12:05pm
Devon made it into the 16th precinct, looking for Detective Fin, maybe Detective Rollins or SonnyâŠanyone but Liv. She glanced around, trying to find any of the detectives when her eyes locked with the Lieutenantâs. Devon tried to hide behind a passing officer, but to no avail.
âReally, Dev?â Olivia asked, coming over to the agent.
Devon smiled sheepishly at her friend. âIâm sorry, Liv. But now that Rafaelâs back to work, Iâm just going crazy at home. Are you positive you donât have anything I can help you with?â
âCan you lift your arm over your head yet?â
Devon nodded, then demonstrated, lifting her left arm gingerly upwards until it was as high as she could normally reach. The physical therapy was going well; she had her full range of motions back. The muscular strength, thoughâŠ.
Olivia, sensing this, commanded, âlift that stapler over your head.â
Devon turned to Sonnyâs desk, staring at the stapler sitting innocently on the hard wood. Detectives Fin, Carisi and Rollins had come back from whatever they had been doing and were watching now. Not wanting to appear weak, Devon took the stapler in her left hand. She got it off the desk and made it until about chest height before she dropped it, hissing in pain.
Olivia sighed, stooping to pick up the stapler. âIf you knew you couldnât lift it, then donât hurt yourself, Dev.â Her eyes softened as she replaced the stapler on the desk. âGo home. Relax. Take this time to reconnect with yourself.â Devon ducked her head, not making eye contact, and nodded. âCarisi, could you give Devon a ride home, please?â
âSure thing, Lieu,â Sonny replied, coming over to Devon. Defeated, she followed the detective out to his squad car. But before they got in, Sonny gestured to her, getting her attention. âHey Dev, can I talk to you about somethinâ?â
Curious, Devon replied with, âof course, you can. Whatâs on your mind?â
Sonny seemed a little nervous, shifting on his feet before he started. âItâs justâŠI just did an undercover in a shelter, with sex offendersâŠposing as a sex offender. And, I donât know, I just donât think Iâm cut out for the whole undercover thing.â He stopped there. Devon watched, waiting for him to continue. He took a deep breath, then continued, âya know, I went in hating those guys, thinking that 20 years was them getting off easy. But now, after spending so much time with âem, itâs hard to not feelâŠto not think that they may have changed since they were arrested.â
Devon nodded. âYou saw them as people, rather than the criminals you normally see them as.â
âExactly! Thatâs exactly it. And I justâŠI donât know how toâŠâ he trailed off.
âSonny, donât feel guilty about it; they are still people. Sure, some of them are the worst of the worst. But a lot of them do go to therapy, go through rehabilitation. Itâs just that loud, violent minority that overrides the ones that do make it.â
Sonny shifted again, looking at the ground. âIâm justâŠIâm scared that the next time Iâm interrogating a sex offender, that I wonât be able to do it well.â There it was, his real fear.
Devon took her time thinking about her words before answering. âHey,â she started softly, waiting until he looked up at her. âLike I said, thereâs a loud, violent minority that doesnât get better, that are horrible rapists. If you want to help the victim, then you have to treat your perps like they are that minority. Itâs sad, and it may be unfair, but thatâs just how it is.â
He nodded slowly, letting her words sink in. âGod, I donât know how you do undercover so much,â he grinned.
Devon smirked back. âUndercover is rough; itâs not for everyone. Plus, I get to go into sex trafficking rings and drug busts, not therapy sessions.â She tapped her hand on top of the car before going to open the door, but Sonny had frozen, his eyes locked on the spot her hand tapped. âUh, you alright there, Sonny?â
Slowly, his bright blue eyes shifted to hers, and a grin broke across his face. âDid I just see a ring on your finger?â
Devonâs eyes widened and her face split into a matching smile. âAh, did Rafael not tell anyone that he proposed?â She shook her head at her fiancĂ©âs silence, but Sonny was already coming around the car, sweeping her into a huge hug, singing his congratulations and dragging her back into the precinct to show everyone else.
Apartment of Rafael Barba and Devon Motely
Friday April 8th. 1:35pm
Devon was lounging on the couch, watching the Mets game when she got a call. Looking at the ID, her brow furrowed, seeing Sonnyâs name displayed there. They were already friends, but ever since their undercover talk, Devon and Sonny grew closer. They had an understanding of each other, and Sonny felt like he had someone to talk to about tough cases, someone that wasnât on the force, or his priest. And talking to Sonny about SVU cases gave Devon something to do; she was still barred from going to the department, but she could at least give some advice. Consultations, as Barba called it.
âHey, Dev. Iâm just calling to give you an update. Someone threatened Barba, so we have a protection detailââ Sonny started. Devon could vaguely hear Barba yelling something in the background, something that sounded like, âis that Devon? Are you insane??â But Devon had stopped listening, her stomach dropping.
âIâll be right there,â she replied.
âNo, no, itâs fine. See, Iâm just calling to let you know that itâs all taken care ofââ Sonny was backtracking hard; Barbaâs voice could still be heard in the background, calling him an idiot.
âIâm on my way.â Devon had turned off the TV, grabbed her glock and badge, and was making her way to the door.
âWait, Devââ Sonny started but she hung up, already out the door, hurrying down the steps and waving down a cab.
Office of Rafael Barba
1 Hogan Place
Friday, April 8th. 1:52pm
Devon almost sprinted to Barbaâs office, pushing past the crowd of attorneys. Two officers were stationed outside his office, set up by Carmenâs desk. The officers attempted to stop her, but she shot them a glare, showed her badge, and pushed past them. Sonny was still inside, as was Detective Rollins. Â Barba, who was standing by his chair, hands on his table, groaned when he saw you.
âDammit, Carisi; now my injured fiancĂ©e is here, in danger,â he glared at the detective, who put his hands up in surrender.
âIâm sorry, Barba. I didnât think sheâd come. I just wanted to let her know what was happeninâ,â he explained.
Devon crossed the room quickly, wrapping her arms around Barbaâs shoulders, kissing his cheek briefly. âWhatâs this about you being threatened?â
Barba placed his hands on the arm across his front, leaning his head against her chest for a moment before he broke away. âItâs nothing, mi amor. Nothing worse than before. Besides, I got a protection detail on me already. You should be home, resting.â
Devon clucked her tongue at him. âIâve been resting, for months. Iâm getting tired of it, honestly. Plus, I still got one good arm; if I recall, I was able to protect you before with only one arm.â She smiled faintly, remembering those early days, when their only worries were the Aces, and not the NYPD, or anyone that they felt like they could hire. âDoes this have anything to do with that CO your prosecuting?â
âProbably,â he muttered. Right then, both detectiveâs phones went off. They glanced at the message, then at each other.
âGotta go,â Rollins said as they both hurried out.
Devon watched them leave. âThat sounded bad.â Barba nodded in agreement.
Apartment of Rafael Barba and Devon Motely
Friday, April 8th. 9:37pm
âI still donât know why we need an unmarked outside. They realize that I live here, right?â Devon said, leaning against Barbaâs frame. They were on the couch, the news on in the background, but neither of them really watching it. It was simply on for noise; the air was too tight in the silence.
âJust for protection, Cariño,â Barba replied, pulling her closer against him. They were both waiting, though neither mentioned it. Sergeant Mike Dodds, on his last day with SVU, was shot on the job. He was in the hospital right now, and they were waiting to hear from Olivia, or any of SVU, on his condition. They both wanted to be there, but Olivia barred them, saying it was safer for them to stay home. So, home they were. At least until tomorrow, then theyâd visit, safe or not. If he was still alive, though neither one acknowledged that thought. He had to be aliveâŠhe had to be.
âI cannot believe I had to hear that you were threatened through fucking Sonny, again,â she huffed, though she wasnât really mad. She knew why Barba didnât say anything. And while she was incredibly grateful that Sonny did, she also knew that there wasnât much she could do in her condition. Plus, if she was planning on retiring from the Feds, then she wouldnât be able to do anything, anyways. And she was going to have to get used to that, as much as she didnât want to.
âRemind me to strangle him next time I see him,â Barba muttered under his breath and Devon chuckled.
âIâd love to see you reach that high,â she smirked.
Barba shot her a glare. âIâm taller than you.â
âYes, but Iâve been trained to take down people bigger than me. If I remember correctly, Iâm the one that taught you how to throw a punch.â
âAnd youâre a good teacher. Thatâs why I know I could take Fordham down.â
This made Devon laugh out loud. Just then, Barbaâs phone went off, and Devonâs laughter came to an abrupt end, waiting to hear the news.
âBarba.â He waited while he listened. âWhat?â He waited again, then sighed. âIâm so sorry, LivâŠ. Do you want us there?â He closed his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose with his free hand. Devon sat up to look at him, concern blossoming in her chest. âOkay, weâll be there first thing in the morning. Thanks for calling. Get some sleep, okay? Bye.â He sat there for a moment after he hung up. He took a deep breath, âMike Dodds just died.â
Devonâs heart stopped. âWhat? How? I thought Liv said he woke up, was doing fine?â
âHe had a massive stroke, couldnât recover.â Barba couldnât go on.
Devon felt the unspoken words. This couldâve been her, when she was shot just a few short months ago. This couldâve been her fate. Devon leaned back against him, head on his chest, and he wrapped his arms tightly around her, bringing her close to him.
âI love you, Dev. I love you so much,â he whispered into her hair, kissing the top of her head softly.
She stroked his arm with her fingers gently. âI love you, too, Rafael.â
Forliniâs
Saturday, April 9th. 3:35pm
The bar was packed with officers in their dress blues; everyone in there was celebrating the life of Sergeant Mike Dodds. He was a good man, and he had touched all of their lives in one way or another. Devon had only met the man once, maybe twice, but he was nothing but kind, professional. She had an instant like of him and was sad that she never got to work with him, really. She was more there for support of her friends at SVU, and for Barba, who knew the man more than she did. And while she listened and laughed with those who told stories of the Sergeant, she couldnât help but feel an uneasinessâŠa guiltiness. She felt it the most when was gave her condolences to Chief Dodds, Mikeâs father. He had been polite, cordial. But she could still feel the animosityâŠor was that in her mind? Was it survivorâs guilt, even if she wasnât involved in the shooting? Even now, sitting at the bar with Barba and Sonny, she could feel the Chiefâs eyes on her, questioning why she had lived while his son had not.
SVU Department
Sunday, April 10th. 9:30am
âHe looks so much smaller in there,â Barba said as the men in the lineup were led away.
âAny chance I could get 10 minutes alone with the guy?â Devon asked, still glaring at the man who had threatened her fiancĂ©. Ten minutes was a long time, and sheâd make every minute count. Barba smirked, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and pulling her from the window.
While Sonny walked with them, he said, âFelipe was paid $250 each time he talked to you, counselor.â
â$250, thatâs it? I should be offended,â Barba scoffed. âWho paid him?â
âWouldnât say, but weâre keeping the protection detail on ya.â
Devon perked up, âagain, just 10 minutes with the guy. I can get it out of him.â Though, she shuddered when she remembered Barbaâs face the last time he watched her interrogate someone.
Barba just squeezed her tighter before he turned to Sonny. âYou still want to be an ADA?â
Sonny shifted. âIâve been thinkinâ about it, yeah.â
âIâve heard thereâs an opening in Brooklyn. I can put in a good word for you.â
Sonny looked touched at the offer, but declined, saying, âI took an oath to serve and protect. âSides, after what happened, it just doesnât feel like the right time, ya know?â
Barba nodded. âI get it. In the end, weâre all just passing throughâŠ. Howâs Benson doing?â
âSheâsâŠtaking it pretty hard,â Sonny mumbled. Werenât they all? Barba used his free hand to pat Sonnyâs shoulder before he led Devon out of the precinct.
Once they had made it into the back of a cab, Devon said, âletâs get married sooner rather than later.â
Barba raised an eyebrow. âScared Iâll run off?â
She smiled at him, giving his chest a light smack. âNo, I justâlifeâs too short, ya know?â
That sobered Barbaâs mood as he nodded. âThink June is too close?â
It was early April now; that gave them about two months to plan everything. That seemed doable to Devon, but it still gave her pause; having a date in mind made everything real. She still had to leave the Bureau, figure out what the hell kind of wedding they were even going to have. Though, if there was one thing she knew about Barba, it was that he was an amazing planner. She didnât know, however, how well his court planningâs would translate to wedding planning.
âJune sounds perfect,â she replied, leaning in to give him a sweet kiss. He returned it, grinning against her mouth.

đ The Adventure of the Detection Club
Chapter 12: Opening Arguments
Table of Contents & Trigger Warnings
â Chapter Specific Warnings: Contains allusions to spoilers for The Great Ace Attorney 2, as well as passing references made to blood and gore.
The next morning Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey Defendant Lobby
Ryunosuke Naruhodo quickly sorted his way through a stack of papers that made up the official court record for the case, shuffling his way through at such a speed that he looked as though he was certainly doing his best not to drop any.
Redford took a long drink from the flash of cocoa that Iris had specially prepared for him, whilst Susato kept a watch over Ryunosuke.
The door swung open with a loud crash as Sholmes barged his way into the room. âMorning, folks!â he roared.
Ryunosuke gave a yelp as he promptly dropped the pages of the court record across the floor. âSh-Sholmes! Look at what you made me do!â
âOh Iâm terribly sorry about that Mr. Naruhodoââ
âJust help me pick these up!â
Ryunosuke fell to his knees, along with Sholmes, frantically picking them up and trying to re-organise them, all whilst Ryunosuke swore several oaths under his breath in Japanese.
âApologies if I sound rude or anything, Susato, but is Ryunosuke always soâŠâjumpyâ before a trial like thisâŠ?â Redford asked quietly.
âNoâŠwellâŠat least not that Iâve ever seen beforeâŠâ said Susato, carefully playing with a loop of her hair.
âMe neither,â said Iris. âNormally when heâs a little anxious, his eyes dart around the room like no tomorrow. But this is definitely a new oneâŠâ
âWell it explains the way he was acting during breakfast this morning. With the way his eyes were rolling about in his skull, I thought they were going to roll out of his head or something. If I were trying to maintain eye contact with him, I think Iâdâve ended up giving up.â
The bailiff suddenly appeared from the entrance and called: âNow hearing the case of Regina V. Ninate, will all parties please report to courtroom no. 3 immediately!â
Just in time, Ryunosuke managed to get the papers together and get the court record back into its cardboard folder again.
âThatâs our cue, Mr. Naruhodo,â said Susato.
âWell, Iâll be cheering you on from the dock. Good luck, you two!â said Redford with a bow.
Sholmes flicked the front rim of his hat. âAnd likewise, weâll be cheering you on from the gallery!â
Iris flicked the front of her own forehead. âGood luck, everybody!â
ââââââââââ
The judge hit his gavel several times to bring the chattering of the gallery to a close, before clearing his throat and pushing his pince-nez glasses up his nose.
âCourt is now in session for the trial of Redford Ninate!â he announced.
âThe defence is ready, milord!â exclaimed Ryunosuke with a start.
âThe prosecution is more than prepared, milord,â said Abidon, looking over the top of his half-moon glasses.
âAnd you,â continued the judge, âour six members of the jury, randomly chosen from citizens across the city of London, are you ready?â
The first juror, a young woman with her short and curly brown hair tied up with a red and white spotted handkerchief, rolled up a sleeve and flexed her bicep. âReady and riveting to go!â
The second juror, a rather frail-looking old man dressed in a black suit and tall top-hat, stroked his sharp triangular chin with a bony hand. âIâm ready to commit the facts of this case to loving memoryâŠkept in the grace of Godâs right hand.â
The third juror, a familiar-looking Japanese man in a brown kimono with messy black hair and moustache, with several cats climbing over him, struck various poses. âI! AM! READY! BANZAI!â
The fourth juror, a tall man with black finely-combed hair in a widowâs peak and an aquiline nose, removed a pipe from the pocket of his dressing gown and began to smoke it. âI am ready to perceive the truth behind this case.â
The fifth juror, a man in a black tuxedo, top-hat with a purple band and a matching-coloured waistcoat stroked his moustache after he fiddled with his monocle. âI, the great Horace Velmont, will give everything that I can to this case!â
Finally, the sixth juror, a young girl with a black and white striped sweater, a mask covering the top part of her face and a black knitted cap on her head, said: âYeah! Iâm ready to go, guvâna!â
The judge nodded his head. âExcellent. Prosecutor Abidon, isnât it?â
âYes, milord?â
âYou may begin with your opening statement.â
Ryunosuke looked around the courtroom nervously.
(Itâs been a while since Iâve last been here. I just hope Iâm able to get Redford off of these chargesâŠfor his sakeâŠ)
He looked over to Redford, sat in the defendantâs chair in the dock. And as he did so, Redford winked.
(Oh my heartâŠ!)
âMr. Naruhodo? Are you sure that youâre OK?â whispered Susato. âYouâre looking at Red in the face.â
âEhâsorry?â
âI said: âAre you OK? Youâre looking a little red in the faceâ.â
âIs everything alright, defence?â asked the judge.
âDefence, you are aware that talking over the prosecution whilst it is attempting to make its opening argument is rude, arrogant and something that could lead to you being removed from this courtroom for contempt of court?â said Abidon with a glare. âIâm not sure how you Japanese like to do things, but it is the way we British people do things in this sacred court of law, and it is to be respected and heeded.â
âSorry!â exclaimed Ryunosuke with a start. âCarry on. As you wereâŠâ
(Oh great! A smaller, jumped up, discounted-version of Lord van ZieksâŠthatâs just what we really need right about nowâŠ)
âAs I was about to say before I was so rudely interruptedâŠâ said Abidon as he unfurled a scroll and held it in front of him. âThe victim in this case was a Mr. Harris Thomas, a member of the same organisation as the defendantâknown as âThe Detection Clubâ, an organisation for crime writers to meet and work on their crime novels I believe.
âThe victim had been expelled from the club for missed payment of membership fees, and a new member, Dexter Collins, was due to be inaugurated into the club the day before yesterday through a special ceremony. A ceremony that the defendant himself was placed in charge of organising and arranging.
âThe defendant arranged ahead of time that he was to meet with the victim to formally inform him of his expulsion at the same time as began these ceremonial preparations. The prosecution, therefore, asserts that the defendant did, with malicious intent and malice of forethought, met with the victim beforehand and killed him unlawfully.
âHe did so by hitting him repeatedly over the head with thisââ Abidon reached under the prosecutionâs bench and took out the alleged murder weapon, holding it high for the benefit of the court. ââthis skull, which serves as a mascot for the club, affectionately referred to as âNormanâ.â
âOh my! An actual human skull? How frightening!â exclaimed the judge. âStill, how can you assert that it was the defendant who committed this horrifying crime?â
âBecause, milord,â replied Abidon, âthe defendant was the only one who had a key to this locked room mysteryâthe only door to the room is several inches thick and designed to be entirely impenetrable, as is the rest of the room. The windows are only able to open a few centimetres in width, and the entire room is located on the third floor of a building on High Window Avenue. And a cursory investigation has proven that there is no way for anybody to hide themselves within the room.â
âVery compelling evidence, I must admit.â
âHOLD IT!â
âIf that is the case,â said the second juror, âI believe that we may finally be able to put this matter to rest. Dearly beloved, let us join hands together in prayer to mourn this defendantâs hopeless case. A truly, tragic death, indeed!â
With a knock of his hand against the jury bench, a fireball flew through the air and landed into the âguiltyâ side of the giant set of scales behind the judge, tilting them towards the right.
(Yikes! Already itâs not looking good!)
âAn excellent opening argument indeed, Sir Prosecutor, but not necessarily one that would be enough to force a conviction in my opinion,â said the fourth juror, tenting his fingers together. âHowever, I would wish to hear more on this matter. It is only whenever we have eliminated every possible lead that we may know for certain what, exactly, has transpired.â
âI am inclined to agree with Juror #4,â said the judge with a nod.
Abidon nodded back in response.
âI acknowledge that particular fact, milord. As such, the prosecution would now like to call its first witnesses to the standâDetective Athelney Jones of Her Majestyâs Metropolitan Police Service and Dr. Yujin Mikotoba, the policeâs current acting chief coroner and medical examiner.â

And now itâs time for everyoneâs favorite part...the âbig revealâ!
(Yeah, sorry, but thereâs no way Iâm putting Baldi and his creepy mouth movements on this blog. o_0 )
Anyway, here she (and he) is --Â âbig revealâ number 17!
Nothing too special about this one -- itâs just a couple of manga-lovers -- Doki Doki Literature Clubâs Natsuki and Ace Attorneyâs Apollo Justice -- enjoying a funny moment in Parfait Girls, the manga from DDLC (and Natsukiâs favorite)! Then again, you canât deny that thereâs something special about sharing something you love.
To begin with, hereâs what the manga looks like up close:
I apologize for how difficult it is to recognize anything in it, but hopefully this explanation will provide some helpful context. The drawing of the girls on the front was based off an adorable picture by [deleted]:
As any DDLC fan can tell, theyâre actually colorful replicas of the DDLC cast, striking the same poses as they do in the main menu. Heck, this might be what the Parfait Girls really look like, for all we know.
Their poses, on the other hand, were inspired by those of the Sailor Moon characters:
While Iâm not a fan of (or even very familiar with) this anime, I thought it'd be a good fit for something âexceedingly moe,â which is how the protagonist of DDLC describes Parfait Girls. Sorry if you happen to be a Sailor Moon fan, but thatâs how it strikes me (if Iâm mistaken, please feel free to correct me).
I realized too late, by the way, that the front and back page should be swapped, since manga are printed and read from right to left. Weâll just say itâs the American release of Parfait Girls, and leave it at that, all right?
Anyway, on to the main feature: Natsuki and Apollo sitting on the same couch that Athena and Sayori did a few months ago. Just to be clear, this isnât intended to look like any sort of chemistry between the two of them -- I just ended up drawing Apollo a bit closer to Natsuki than I meant to, so I decided to have her put her hand on his leg to keep from falling over while sheâs laughing. Thatâs all there is to it, but if you feel like shipping them, go right ahead. Iâm more of an Athenapollo fan, personally.
Oh, yes -- I almost forgot to mention why I believe these two would relate to each other. First of all, Apollo happens to be into manga himself as it turns out -- hereâs the evidence in case you donât believe me:
Secondly, while theyâre not very similar in terms of personality, they can both be described as sort of an underdog among their peers. Natsuki gets called cute and made fun of for her height, whereas Apollo struggles to gain much respect from his coworkers (let alone the prosecution), except after winning a huge victory in court. Not to mention getting made fun of for his "hair hornsâ all the time.
And finally, both of them share something that can only be described as (to put it lightly) an unusual childhood. Their respective situations are far from being the same, but they both experienced something as children that was unpleasant enough to keep them from wanting to talk about it with others -- even people they trust. Itâs for that very reason, however, that they can both be described as strong, tough, unshakable individuals. Iâd love to see what itâd be like for them to do some Chords of Steel exercises together sometime. Both of them can use a confidence booster every now and then.
If any of you are Natsuki fans, you can probably guess what I used as a reference for her adorable smile in this drawing:
Apolloâs face was a lot easier to draw, but still a fun challenge. Hereâs the pose I used for his grin:
Aaaaand I believe thatâs it. If thereâs anything to take from this drawing, itâs that the greatest moments in life donât always have to be big ones. Just sharing your passion with someone can create some unforgettable moments.

I think I can help with one of those lol. This is such a galaxy brained idea fr. Iâve been thinking about this so much, and I planned out which characters I think correspond to each other and everything ahhh so fun
Also yes raine doesnât exactly correspond to miles if amity is franziska, but in my head, eda is Phoenix and I just love wrightworth so much sooooo :/
[ID:
The first image features Luz from The Owl House in the center, with her hand curled up on her chin, looking off to the side with a worried and thoughtful expression. This is a reference to one of Maya Feyâs sprites. Luz is depicted with dark skin, short curly hair, and her season one outfit. In a box in the top left corner of the picture is Amity, as if her photo is being presented like in Ace Attorney. Amity is depicted from the shoulders up, with light skin, green hair that is pulled back into a half-up ponytail style, black earrings, and her Hexside uniform. She is facing forward with a smug and confident expression, as a reference to a Franziska von Karma sprite. There is an Ace Attorney style dialogue box in front of Luz, and it is slightly transparent. The top part reads, âLuzâ to indicate that Luz is speaking. The bottom part reads, âYou know, if she wasnât so mean, I think she and I would get alongâŠ.â The background of the picture is a view of the Owl House itself.
The second picture depicts Raine Whispers in the middle. They are depicted with dark skin, green hair, glasses, one earring, and their bard coven outfit. Their head is tilted slightly to the side but their body faces forward. They are frowning slightly. The pose and expression are a reference to one of Miles Edgeworthâs sprites. In a box in the top left corner of the picture is a piece of paper with an ice glyph from the Owl House, as if it is being presented like in Ace Attorney. In front of Raine is a slightly transparent, Ace Attorney style dialogue box. The top part reads, âWhispersâ to indicate that Raine Whispers is speaking. The bottom part reads, âShe has been out there all night, trying to remove those glyphs.â The background is a view of the corridors inside of the Emperorâs Castle from the Owl House.
End ID]
Go under the cut to see the actual Ace Attorney screen grabs I used!
Here are the original screen grabs from aa:

Story 1 arrival
Feburary 14th mata shi finished packing his stuff, ready to go and even everything else prepared such as a new job lined up and address changed, he was a little annoyed at the fact that, he was moving, but had to leave since the prices we're going up at the place he was living in.
".....just wished to stay in one place and live my life until death, a hikikomori/mangaka like myself should stay in one area, but that hee ho of a jackfrost cousin of mine called me and asked if i needed a new place and i agreed, hopefully its just me and him, he goes to work and i do the same then go home and stay isolated."
(Smt reference: hee ho)
Mata says and lets out a exasperated sigh and walks out and his cousin Hideki was waiting outside.
Hideki: what too you so long you were in there for 20 minutes thinking, the hell man is that everything.
"oh sorry and yes that's everything, let's go and head to where the next bonefire is" (dark souls reference)
hideki goes goes silent and just opens the door to his truck and steps in.
*Hideki thoughts: he is just weird sometimes*
mata goes to the truck and opens the door and sits down.
Hideki: ready and we'll be living with others ya know.
mata goes silent and his eye widen.
"eh....?"
Hideki raises a brow at mata reaction to what he said.
Hideki: i texted you this last night, how'd you forget.
"um....."
*meanwhile mata remembers, he was doin jojo poses, cause he was curious to how they did it, but also didn't bother to look at his phone.*
"oh.... well that's new to me and I'm sure the other roommates are nice?"
Hideki: we're living with a guy that works as a bodyguard and four different females with different jobs.
*mata shi: NOOOOOO!!! NOOOOOO!!! QUEEN BEAST FROM DRAKENGARD OR SEPHIROTH COME END OUT WORLD*
"that's interesting....." he said in a cold tone and the two were silent the rest of the car ride.
*3 hours later* the truck was parked outside and hideki and mata got out of it.
hideki: here we are new place.
"......" mata examines the big house and then scratched his head.
"looks nice...." he said in a cold tone.
*his thoughts: so much for isolation......*
the other roommates walked out and hideki and mata approaches them.
Hideki: sup guys im back with my cousin here, his name is mata shi, he is a proclaimed writer.
hideki said and smiles and mata blinks a few times, then the roommates stare at him, due to his appearance.
"hi...." mata said in a soft tone this time instead of his usual cold one.
han: I'm han, i got a job doin security, basically a bodyguard.
*mata shi thoughts: or bodyguard would've been the first thing...also these girls keep starting and its making me panic???*
the 1st women steps up to mata shi, making him step back a bit.
nisha: nisha is the name, ya looking mighty shady boy?
the women said and was pulled back by the second woman.
hana: don't mind her, she's realist and all hana is my name umm? mata right, I'll just call ya shi sounds better, what does it mean?
"death....."
everyone's eyes widen and Hideki facepalms.
hana: second thought mata seems better, hey maya wanna introduce yourself.
maya was silent and had a cold expression as she stares at mata.
maya: skip me....
viola: umm hi im viola.
she says and smiled at mata.
Hideki: ok now we got our introductions out the way, now han wanna help us take his stuff into his room.
han: sure how much ya got mata?
"alot of stuff, plus cosplays, laptop, ps5, ps1, ps2, wii, ds and my waifu figurines, books and bags of food"
han: umm thats alot of stuff, bet you have cools games, like fortnite or call of duty.
"i have all the final fantasy games, drakengard, nier, nier automata, resident evil games, parasite eve, xenogears, the bouncer, tekken series, dead or alive, castlevania series, ace attorney, borderlands, devil may cry and no more heros and kingdom hearts and dark souls, sekiro, bloodborne and persona and smt series, streetfighter, king of fighters, last blade and samurai showdown."
han had a huge grin on his face, only being familiar with half of the games he just named.
han: thats alot of games you just named.
"i know
meanwhile the girls still eye mata shi for a bit before they all went inside.
Hideki: so how are you and the girls han, last thing i remember is three of them like you and one is already with me.
hideki chuckles and mata shi just grabs his bags and makes his way inside and towards the room the was empty and makes his way inside and starts to sit his stuff down.
"this is like a weird tv show, a proclaimed mangaka like me should not be part of this story" he said to himself and rubs his head and walks back out of the room.
1 hour later, mata shi was done bringing his stuff in and even unpacked all of it, having his stuff stacked neatly such as his games, manga/books waifu figurines and more.
"ok.... now i start my new job in two days, i have money prepared, after having my way and all..." he said and remembers, he hacked someone's online bank account with a unknown software he got from the dark web and took literally almost six thousand dollars, why cause if his job didn't hire him, he'd have to keep hacking into peoples online bank accounts and possibly end up in prison.
"I have enough money, so i won't hack into someone's account, unless its urgent...." mata shi said being fully aware of the future risk of him being caught.
"hmm..." he looks at the time on his phone to see it was 6pm.
"I'll just sleep then and also tommorw aswell, so the days go by quicker and i can start work..."
mata hops into the bed and immediately wraps himself up in the covers and closed his eyes and spoke.
"is this the beginning of something new, something that takes me out of the isolated darkness...?" he says.
[so start of this seems ok more in the future and i have two oc fanarts made mata and new character soon and also I'll use images, but credit creator's, plus for you to know what characters look like and also mata shi will have an unexpected harem of his own danganronpa waifus or others]

Next up is Bi!Phoenix! I saw this request coming a mile away, and I couldnât be happier. Phoenix being Bi is like 90% canon and my personal headcanon. If by some dumb luck someone didnât request this on the Ace Attorney Amino, just like Ace!Miles it was going to happen,Â
Iâll be blabbing under the cut, in the meantime look forward to Bear!Juan!
Earlier I made a stupid little skit about how Phoenix has 2/3 of the Bi flag colours with his blue suit and pink tie. Well as it turns out that also applies to College!Phoenix and Hobo!Phoenix. Because of this it I was aiming for a look that pushes away from his cannon looks, so out goes the formal look and comfy look. As I mentioned before I wanted to draw these characters as their most recent iteration (Yes I kinda failed that with Edgeworth but he still looks awesome), so I was also aiming for a kinda âDadâ look. I started with a google search of âcool outfits for menâ when I stumbled upon some plaid. Now It might be because Plaid would work great with the Bi colours, or because I find it would fit that âDadâ look or it could be my canadian-ness showing but I could not resist the plaid. A few google searches of âPlaid outfits for menâ and âHow to draw plaidâ and BOOM! Bi!Dad!Phoenix, just add a pale pink shirt and jeans. A nice simple look but one I havenât seen on Phoenix. Fun fact I wanted to add a jean jacket on him but I also wanted to roll up his sleeves for some reason so no jacket.  Â
So not to undermine the project but I knew that this project would be one of the easiest for 2 reasons : 1) I have a lot of experience drawing phoenix at this point, and 2) The Bi flag has only 3 colours, mostly cool colours, that all look good together and on Phoenix.  When working with the flag the biggest challenge is of course the plaid since Iâve never attempted plaid.... and I suck at patterns. But honestly it was super fun! I find it turned out great. As always the biggest question is : What the hell do I do with his arms? Phoenix doesnât have a prop he can play with so I ended up referring to his official art and sprites. in the bulk of his art he has one hand on his hip and one at his side. Now I hate to take so much reference from other art but I just could not think of a pose for him. The plus side is that this pose conveniently hides his hands. I have had so many issues with hands in the last 3 projects so forgive me this one time. As per tradition his hair was a pain but that is par for the course for Phoenix. Now as many know there is a bit of discourse in deciding what colour are his eyes, the games and art for the games they are more blue, in the anime and art for the anime they are more brown-ish, and in the fandom he ends up with both??? So naturally the only solution is democracy. The options were brown, blue and heterochromia (one of each or a mix). Heterochromia barely won over blue eyes so that is what I did. (Iâm personally on team blue eyes myself but the people have spoken.) I guess you could say the only thing hetero about Phoenix is his eyes! (I stole that joke from someone else please donât sue) Whelp Iâve ranted long enough. As of writing this I have run out of my pre-made requests so I am making these as it is being posted. IDEALLY Bear!Juan should be posted on Thursday but it is not guaranteed. Whelp, wish me luck!
