boy's night ☆ riki nishimura
☆ summary: riki had no game, no rizz, which was why he employed the help of his six friends to text you. warning: having seven boys on the phone trying to text a girl does not give good results! ☆ genre: fluff, all enhypen members make an appearance, boys being boys, very stupid, it's getting rizzy in here but clearly i have negative game ☆ warning(s)? no just silliness :3 ☆ word count: 1.7k words
"Oh my god, she texted me!" was the sentence that completely destroyed Jake Sim's house.
Tonight, Riki was having a sleepover at Jake's house. It was supposed to be a chill night, a night in which Riki could bask in his friends' presence before they went off to college again.
There were many perks to being the youngest in his friend group. It seemed like Heeseung, Jay, and Jake forever saw him as their baby, after all, when they all met as children, Riki was a snotty little four year-old, constantly tattling on the older boys. Regardless, it was nearly impossible for them to not fuss over him, constantly asking if he ate yet or if he needed help. Sunghoon teased the ever-living shit out of Riki, sure, but the older boy never hesitated to take Riki's side whenever there was an argument. Sunoo and Jungwon were closest to Riki in age, but that didn't stop them from watching over him closely, like mother cats stalking their cubs.
Though, there was one thing that Riki had to admit that he hated about being the youngest: he was the most inexperienced.
Whenever his friends got their 'firsts,' he was always too young to care. It seemed like all his friends got to experience their first crushes and heartbreaks almost simultaneously, only for them to not be there when Riki had his.
Even when he was now a senior in high school, he had absolutely no idea how to talk to girls.
He'd heard all the stories about Heeseung and his antics at college, all the flirting tips that Jake liked to give out to Sunghoon and Jay, and all the crazed texts that Sunoo and Jungwon sent as they went through relationships.
Even so, Riki had never experienced teenage love for himself.
Enter: You.
You were the cute girl that sat in front of him in his Macroeconomics class. If it wasn't for the fact that Riki absolutely hated Macro, he would blame the fact that you were just so pretty that he couldn't bring himself to focus on the lecture about the New York Stock Exchange.
Initially, Riki had no intention of pursuing you.
You were cute, obviously, but hearing you talk to your partner in class was enough for him. Plus, it wasn't like Riki had any experience— even if he wanted to talk to you, he had no idea how to!
Except, thanks to his nosy friends, your name had been discussed what felt like a million times by the end of the week.
"So... [Name], eh?" was the first thing Sunghoon said as Riki's camera turned on during their weekly weekend FaceTime calls.
"This is so exciting, Riki," Heeseung said as he joined the call.
"Wait, how do you know her again?" Sunoo's voice cut in. "Sorry, my Wi-Fi is bad. You said you know her from Macro?"
With a little more prying, his friends managed to get a middle-school level confession out of Riki.
"I-I just think she's really pretty, and like, she's really smart," Riki huffed, "I don't think she likes me like that— I've never even spoken to her! Like, I can't talk to women, I straight up am a mess and the other day—oh my god— she looked at me and I think I almost passed out. What do I do? I actually cannot do thi—
".... But you think she's pretty, right?"
And that's how Riki managed to get your phone number. With the help of his friends (that felt more like them feeding into his delusions), he worked up the courage to stutter out a simple question.
And when you smiled, nodding enthusiastically as you typed your contact into his phone, Riki felt his soul leave his body.
So, it wasn’t hard to imagine the havoc that engulfed Jake Sim's house (the place of the sleepover) as Riki's phone pinged, your contact name showing up.
It was already late at night, so the boys were raiding Jake's pantry to get midnight snacks.
The moment that Riki announced that you had just, in fact, texted him first, everyone stopped in their tracks.
"Oh shit!" Jay shouted as he jumped over Jake's sofa, bowl of cereal still in hand.
The sound of crashing as Heeseung knocked over the ramen cups, as well as cutlery dropping abruptly and cabinets slamming filled the house.
"Oi, don't mess up my kitchen!" Jake yelled as his feet pounded against his stairs, scrambling so fast that he practically glided downstairs. After Jungwon spilled milk on his shirt, he was half-way through putting on a new shirt as he clambered down.
"What did she—" Sunoo pushed Jay out of the way, knocking the older boy over as he plopped down next to Riki on the living room carpet and peeked over his shoulder— "What did she say?!"
Within seconds, all six of his friends were huddled around Riki, pushing each other out of the way to catch a glimpse of what you said.
"Move your fatass head!"
"I can't see!"
As his friends argued, Riki stared at his phone, chewing on his bottom lip. His heart was pounding in his chest. He only saw the notification, and didn't see what you said yet.
What if you said something crazy, like "I just found out about that one time in first grade when you peed yourself at the playground" even though Riki and all his friends agreed to never speak of that incident again?! Or, what if you confessed your everlasting love for him in a long paragraph?
His head was spinning.
"Wait, did you open the message yet?!" Jungwon abruptly yelled into Riki's ear.
"No..." Riki answered slowly, watching the way all of his friends' once tense faces soften with relief.
"Oh my god," Jake sighed in relief.
"Phhhhheeewww!" Heeseung said dramatically.
"Why?" Riki frowned. "What's wrong with opening the message?"
"[Name] can see if you read her message if you open it," Sunghoon said matter-of-factly.
"Why is that a bad thing?"
All of his friends groaned.
They taught him a trick: swipe just enough so that he could see the message, but not enough that the system marks it as read.
Hey, was all you said, much to Riki's relief.
"What do I say?" Riki asked, clutching his phone. His eyes flickered to his friends as he sucked his bottom lip under his teeth pensively. "How do I respond to this?"
"Just say 'hey' back!" Jay blurted.
"No!" Heeseung shook his head profusely. "Anything but that!"
"Why not? You want him to say haiiii instead?" Sunghoon nudged the older boy.
"No, no, no!" Jungwon reached across to smack Sunghoon's knee. "All of you are wrong."
Jungwon turned to Riki. "Just respond with an emoji."
They all groaned loudly.
"Okay, anything but a goddamn emoji!"
Riki ended up typing out a simple hey in response. He had to make Sunoo press send for him, squeezing his eyes shut. Riki immediately shut his phone off, placing it face down.
"I don't want to see if she responds or not!" Riki moaned.
Within a minute or two, his phone pinged again.
"She responded!"
Even though you only asked, How was your day?, the entire house was once again invigorated. The boys shrieked, whooping and hitting Riki's shoulder, so loud that the house probably shook.
"Oh my god, it's happening!"
"Ouuuuu, she wants you, Riki!"
"Everyone shut the fuck up, it's time to lock in, oh my god it's actually happening—"
And just as everyone settled back down, ready to give Riki their mind-blowing advice, his phone dinged again.
[Attachment: 1 photo]. It was a silly picture of you, one of those cute ones that showed your eyes, clearly taken on the spot.
"OHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Shewantsyousobadohmygo—"
According to Jake, if a girl sends you a picture of herself, no matter how silly or cute it is, she is head over heels for you.
"One message at a time!" Jay yelled over Jake's shoulder as they tried to figure out how to respond. "You need to answer her question first and then respond to the picture!"
"No! Don't respond to the picture!" Sunghoon, who was all the way in the guest bathroom, yelled from behind the bathroom door, his voice both booming and muffled. "She'll think you're weird!"
"I agree," Sunoo said.
"I agree," Jungwon mocked him in a nasally voice, earning a slap to the shoulder. "Just heart the picture!"
But their arguing fell upon deaf ears.
"Riki, what are you doing?!"
Riki was on his own, his heart beating at the tip of his fingers.
I hung out with my friends today and it was fun, how was yours? was his first response. Pressing on the picture, he responded, You look cute.
When Riki glanced over at his friends, they were sprawled across the floor, crying aloud dramatically.
"It's over."
"You're insane."
"Fumbled."
Riki threw a pillow at them. "I didn't fumble— Oh shoot, she's typing!"
The house was once again filled with screaming and crashing as they scampered to Riki's side.
You typed for a few moments. Everyone was at the edge of their seat, simply begging to see how you'd respond. But then, you stopped.
"Good game, guys."
"100% over."
Riki chewed on his thumb, his eyes glued to his phone screen. Did he creep you out? Was it weird for him to say that you looked cute? Did he fuck up?
But then you finally replied.
My day was just filled with homework, very boring, you replied. Maybe if I spent it with you it would have been more fun.
Oh.
My.
God.
Riki's hands shook as he typed back another response, completely ignoring the complete and utter disaster around him. He didn't know what came over him. He wouldn't say any of the things that he typed out loud, let alone to your face. It was like he was possessed by some spirit that gave him the courage to type. Without even noticing it, his heart was palpitating in his chest, his entire face, neck, and ears covered in a red shade.
I'm free tomorrow, he typed.
"RIKI WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU—"
Okay, you simply responded. 12PM. The Block. Let's have fun.
"D-Did she just ask you out?"
Riki glanced at this phone, then at his friends, who stared at him with eyes as wide as saucers and their jaws dropped to the floor, then back at his phone. He blinked. "Yeah."
"Yes?!"
Riki blinked again. "Yeah."
.
.
.
And then it hit him.
"Oh my god, [Name] asked me out...!"

Casting Love 0.10 - Hope That Helps <3
The walk to his place was quiet. You both end up in one of the fancier apartment buildings near campus, not one of the much less impressive dorm buildings you had assumed. The moment you guys entered the building, you sent your location to Hajime, promising you would inform him of the specific room once you both got to it.
Kenma kept walking to one of the elevators, swiping a card and in response an arrow above the elevator lit up. It didn't take long for the elevator to reach the main level and for the two of you to enter it. Kenma hit the 7 and then the close door button, which you silently laughed at.
"People like to jump in them without swiping their cards, it'd be easy for someone to get in." Kenma explained with a frown. Though, from his expression there was clearly more to it.
The elevator dinged, having arrived to the seventh floor. You both exited and turned right from the elevator. Kenma pulled out the card again and used it to unlock the apartment door. He held the door open for you before stepping in himself. Immediately, you notice a group of guys around your age huddled in the living room. They were whispering very loudly.
"Guys is that his partner???"
"I think so! Do you think they like volleyball???"
"We can hear you." Kenma rolls his eyes, closing the door loudly. The group scatters with a yelp. There was some awkward silence before one of the guys stands up and offers you his hand.
"Hi, I'm Kuroo."
You shake his hand with a smile and introduce yourself. Following his lead, the rest of the guys run over and introduce themselves.
"Hi!! My name is Bokuto! It's really nice to meet you!!"
His handshake was a little more intese than Kuroo's had been, but you smile. "Hi Bokuto, nice to meet you too."
"I'm Hinata Shoyo! Do you like volleyball?"
"Hello Hinata! I don't really know much about volleyball, but I think it's interesting."
"Akaashi. You had Mr. Fukuzawa last semester, right?"
"I did! Nice to see you again."
"Kageyama Tobio. If you want to know more about volleyball I can tell you more than Hinata."
Before you could even respond, Hinata launches himself at Kageyama. The rest of the group didn't even react, showing this was normal.
"It's nice to meet you all! I hope I'm not intruding at all with your guys' time."
"Not at all, you're alright." Kuroo waves you off while casually prying Hinata off of Kageyama. "Kenma mentioned you wanted to use us as a way to see how your website is going, so whenever you need us just let us know."
"Okay, thank you!" You bowed before turning to Kenma who already grabbed out his laptop and put it on the counter.
"Give me your laptop, I'll sign you into the Wi-Fi." He held his hand out. You scrambled to get your laptop out of your bag before opening it, signing in, and handing it over to him. Kenma said nothing else as he signed you into their Wi-Fi and then slid it to where you were standing.
"Do you have any ideas of what you want to make our business about?" You asked, sitting down.
"...I have one idea, but you can say no."
"Go ahead!"
"How about items that can help those who haven't met their soulmates? Like... specific products proven to cover up marks, I know some places don't like having people with very visible marks work. And I know sometimes foundation doesn't work for people. Or, colored lenses with those who are color blind with their soulmate link."
"That could be cool! I also think it'd be cute where if when they find their soulmate they could get a little care package since they won't need the products anymore." you added while opening up a website maker.
"I don't know how well that'd work for an actual business..." Kenma muttered off. You simply shrugged.
"Are there any colors you wanna use?"
"...I like orange."
"Orange is nice! I think it'd also be nice to use maybe red and yellow? So it's kind of like a sunrise? Like they're rising into living even if before they felt like all they needed to do was find their soulmate?"
Kenma gave a small nod. You smiled.
"Then let's get started!"
You guys spent a little over three hours working on the website, with occasional breaks to get feedback from Kenma's friends who happily did so.
Despite having finished with what you guys wanted to do so far, they invited you to stay to eat dinner with them since your original cafe plans had been ruined. It was around 8 pm when you decided it was time to leave.
"Thank you again for the dinner. I'll see you tomorrow in class. Make sure to let me know if you think of anything to add to the website!"
"Okay, see you then."

I wasn't sure how much apartment time I wanted to give, but decided that I had written enough so that's all you get <3
Hinata and Kageyama totally tried sharing as much volleyball info they could to try and prove who was better and when YN left, asked for them to pick who did it better and to be nice they said it was a tie (Hinata cried)
We ignore how long this took
Also Iwa had been asking for several updates while they were gone and had a timer set each time in case the response took too long and he was just gonna go there
Also also, to get in without someone who owns the apartment they literally just have to be like yo I'm besties with someone who lives here and say which room and the name of the person and the worker let's them in

Hello all! Happy (one day late) Halloween! Hope the Ghouls didn't get you! Here's a quick look at the process of a page- heavily abbreviated, but it's the overall gist of it. Program is Medibang Paint and it's on my... 7 year old(?) Samsung tablet. A nice, free program (If you turn your wi-fi off while working so the ads can't load in haha!) Didn't end up getting any asks at all, so I think we'll just scrap the Q&A idea for one of these between chapter updates. Oh well! I've got another idea for the Nov. 11th update that should work well too. ^^
Actual updates are scheduled to start up on Nov. 22nd! The page is already scheduled and the next page is very nearly done! If all goes well, I'll be able to stay a month ahead of updates- so here's hoping!

I wanna be your favourite pretty boy!
"Hey Tim," he shouted over his shoulder.
"Yeah?" Tim shouted back.
"Is your Wi-Fi set up yet?"
"Yeah, you wanna do your usual guessing attempts before I give you the password?"
Kon grinned. "Yeah. You good with that?"
"Go ahead!"
Kon fist pumped then grabbed his phone out of his back pocket. He'd been trying to guess the password to Tim's Wi-Fi every time he moved for the past five years, enough that it'd become a tradition for him. Of course, it never worked. Tim preferred to have a bunch of numbers and symbols around, and even then, the main body of it would be akin to 'RedViper' or something equally cryptic.
Still, Kon switched to his settings and clicked on the 'Gold-smithGuitar' network, lowering himself to kneel beside the router.

"Remind me why you needed a new apartment again?" Kon called out to his best friend as he followed him up into the hall of the fifth-floor apartment, faux-staggering with the last cardboard box (marked 'books') balanced on one hip.
"Technically, this isn't my apartment; it's Arnold Gold's --"
Kon rolled his eyes and shifted the cardboard box to his other hip as Tim disappeared through a white door at the end of the hall.
"-- And there's a weapons trafficking ring that's taken up a base across from here. I needed an excuse to be watching at all hours of the day."
"We're in Bludhaven. Couldn't your older brother do this?"
"Actually, this is to help Dick. I owe him a favour or two."
"I'm guessing this is worth two."
A thud echoed from somewhere in the room as Tim stuck his head around the door, flashing a sheepish grin. "Pretty much." His eyes flicked down to the box. "Can you put that box in the living room?"
Kon shrugged. "Sure."
"Brilliant," Tim smiled, then disappeared again, only leaving time to call back, "Thank you!" over his shoulder.
Kon sighed and rolled his eyes, then turned into the doorway next to him that led into a spacious combination dining room and living room.
It was very fancy for a living room in Kon's mind, but that was how he felt in most of Tim's home bases. He was scared to put the box down near any furniture or walls lest he scratch anything. Even the carpet was so new and thick that his feet were leaving behind tracks in the fibres. It didn't help that Tim had a knack for buying the most uncomfortable, fancy-looking sofas in the world; this time, it was a reddish-brown leather-looking sofa that Kon knew he would slip off when they next hung out.
Strangely enough, Tim had also bought a dining set to fill the dining room section this time. Kon thought it looked like stained and polished ash. Pa would say it was a waste of good wood with how little Tim would use it.
Kon was inclined to agree, but he wasn't about to tell Tim that as he bent down to place the box near the TV. As he straightened up, he caught a little black box in the corner of his eye.
First, he tried 'Cassie2'; Cassie for the name and two because she was the second Wondergirl. No cigar. The screen shivered. Then he typed in 'Bart2' -- because he was the second Kid Flash. No cigar again. Then he poised to run over to the kitchen as he tried his favourite password, 'Kon1'. He was ready to laugh it off, but as he pressed 'Join', he froze. It went through. All three bars lit up on his phone, and Kon's heart went quiet.
"Hey Tim," he called. His heart felt like it had restarted with a skip, and his face warmed up. He didn't dare tear his eyes from the screen lest it disappear.
"Yeah?" This time, he sounded closer, meaning Tim had probably stuck his head around the living room door.
"Rob, did you mean to put my name as your Wi-Fi password?" Tim's heartbeat doubled in rate, and Kon tore his eyes away from his screen to glance over his shoulder.
Tim was leaning into the living room, using his right hand to cling to the doorframe barely. It was precarious but quickly forgotten when Kon saw his expression. His face was the same red as his suit on a good day, his eyes wide and averted with his lips pursed.
Tim eventually squared his jaw, and Kon heard him take a measured breath before he nodded and said, "Yes, but I can explain."
Kon raised an eyebrow. Tim's heart hadn't slowed down in his ear. "Can you?"
"Uh, yeah," Tim stuttered. "It's my automatic password. Like, what I use before I have something more secure."
Fuck, was all Kon could think as his heart ramped up, forcing his eyes closed with the force of the feelings hitting him. He'd been trying to put this password in all this time, and the only reason he didn't get it in one was because he was a fraction late. It shouldn't have been so attractive. Nor should it have been so cute that he was the automatic password.
Kon took a steadying breath in and out before opening his eyes and responding, "So, what I'm hearing here is that I'm your automatic password?"
Tim pulled himself up from hanging on the door frame so he could walk into the main living room and shrugged. "Well, yeah, it's comfort for me when I'm first moving into a new place," he laughed awkwardly. "You know how I move often, of my own free will or otherwise."
Oh.
Kon smiled shakily. He couldn't look Tim in the eye. A rush of warmth in his gut was melting him at the idea of being comforting, but that didn't stop his whole body from feeling like it was buzzing.
"Umm, yeah, I understand that," Kon stuttered. His tongue felt enormous. "You move around a lot, and I can see why familiarity would help."
He gathered the courage to look back at Tim, who was staring back at him unblinking. The oxygen felt sucked from the room as their eyes caught each other. Kon could hear Tim's heartbeat as it rocketed in his chest, but his breath caught with every in and out, catching his lips in a part.
Oh.
"And I mean, you're comforting for me too, y'know?"
Tim slowly nodded and began moving towards Kon.
Kon's eyes followed Tim. He licked his lips and gulped. Tim was laser-focused on him, and when he focused on his heartbeat, it had returned to its standard steadiness.
Kon wasn't sure he could sweat, but if he could, he would. He was almost thankful for his skin tone as it disguised at least some of his inevitable blush, but he knew Tim still saw it as his eyes flicked down and his lips flashed the cutest little smirk.
Tim tipped his head to one side. "Was that you… picking up what I'm putting down?"
He'd gotten close enough that Kon could hear Tim's lungs as he regulated his breathing without trying.
Kon quirked an eyebrow. "I don't know, am I?"
"Well," Tim looked away and pretended to think, pursing his lips. "If you were, then maybe we could kiss? But if I'm being too presumptuous and you weren't, then maybe I should—"
He began to step away, but Kon shot out a hand and grabbed his jacket, pulling him back so they were even closer.
"I'm picking it up."
Tim’s smirk widened. "Then I guess we should kiss."
Kon felt, more than saw, the grin split across Tim's face as he leaned in to kiss him.
It was a fairytale. Tim's lips were soft and warm against Kon's, tasting of strawberry bubblegum and Zesti cola from the drive to the complex. There were no fireworks, but there might as well have been with how his heartbeat was echoing in Kon's ears, and his hands were cool where he'd grabbed Kon's forearms to stay upright when he'd been pulled forward.
When he realised he was still holding Tim's lapels, Kon couldn't help pulling him even closer. He then slipped his hands down to his hips, leaving Tim to rest his arms over his shoulders. If Kon's mouth hadn't been busy, he might've laughed at how Tim was almost certainly pressing up on his tiptoes.
It felt like an age before they parted, leaving Tim gasping as he came off tiptoes and rested his forehead against Kon's shoulder.
"I wish humans didn't need oxygen. It's unfair that you Kryptonians can kiss forever."
Kon smiled, resting his hands on his (partner? boyfriend?) Tim's back. On the one hand, he wasn't out of breath at all. On the other, "Half-Kryptonian. I still need to breathe, dude."
Tim lifted his head and shot him a Robin-glare. "You aren't even out of breath, dude. Also, don't dude me when we just kissed."
"Man?"
"No."
"Homie?"
"Definitely not."
"Homeslice?"
Tim grimaced lightheartedly as he stepped back. "Where are you even getting these?"
Kon pulled Tim closer again. "What about Rob?"
He could feel Tim relax in his arms as he said, "Yeah, that'll work, clone boy."
--
A thought hit Kon a while later as he sat cross-legged on a countertop, watching Tim put away the freshly bought crockery.
"Wait, Tim, what are we gonna do about the whole mission thing?"
Tim jumped from kneeling on the opposite counter to slot some grey mugs into a cupboard. "Who said Arnold Gold couldn't have a boyfriend? He's my alias."
Kon tipped his head to the side, raising an eyebrow. "Won't Nightwing have a problem with that?"
"Nope!" Tim turned around, showing a devious grin. "Dick doesn't care who I date unless they hurt me."
Kon narrowed his eyes as Tim grabbed a pile of tea towels from the box beside him. "You sure about that?"
"Oh yeah," Tim hummed. He thumbed through the tea towels as he walked past Kon to the kitchen door. "Besides, he isn't even the one you have to worry about."
"Wait, what?"

Time for Helpless part 11 peeps
"You feeling okay?"
"I'm fine." Nico responded more trying to convince himself over Will, he just hoped that Will would leave quickly. He managed to eat half a sandwich but he knew that it would only be minutes before he couldn't control it anymore and would throw up.
"Shit sorry Nico, Kayla wanted to talk to me, I'll be back after lunch. Something about scheduling I don't even know at this point."
"Okay." Will walked out of the infirmary and Nico silently thanked the Gods before running into the bathroom and throwing up, he washed the bitter taste out of his mouth before quickly cleaning up, it would be fine, Solace didn't need to know. Nico wandered around the room spotting a stack of blank paper, he took a sheet and started to draw with a ballpoint pen. He drew Will, with his so bright it's almost glowing hair, deep eyes that glittered with a kind of brightness only possible for a child of Apollo. The smile he always had, even when the world seemed to be at it's worst, the freckles that covered his face after spending so much time in the sun. Nico knew there was a very high chance Will would walk in soon and see the drawing, he folded it up and placed it in his pocket only a minute before Will walked back in.
***
"Hey Neeks."
"Do you not have anyone else to annoy?"
"No actually, Kayla and Austin are taking everyone else."
"Great."
"You're stuck with me, probably forever since we have a new system now. Unless it's an emergency everyone takes the same cabins, you can't escape me di Angelo."
"Please kill me now."
"My job is to prevent that."
"Dio mi salvi."
"I do actually need to check some things, can you take off your shirt?"
"No, why!?" Nico blushed,
"I need to check on the stitches."
"Oh, right. Fine." The Apollo boy traced along the cuts with his fingers, checking it hadn't gotten infected and none of the stitches had come out.
"Nico, are you okay? You're ice cold."
"Huh, what? Yeah I'm always cold, not everyone's a heater Sunshine."
"No, like you're colder than normal. You've never been this cold, are you sure you feel fine?"
"Yeah I'm fi-" Nico passes out, Will tries to sing the hymn but it wouldn't work. Of all times for it to not work this might be one of the most inconvenient. He checks the small boys heart rate, it was faster than normal. After about thirty seconds, Nico woke up.
"Don't try to get up quickly; Gods Nico you scared me." Will grabbed a glass of water and a square of ambrosia, handing them both to Nico, except they went right through his right hand. Will was shocked but he tried to keep calm, "Open your mouth." Nico obliged and Will placed the square of ambrosia on his tongue, as he chewed his hand began to turn solid. "Has this ever happened before? Being cold then passing out?" Nico shook his head,
"I didn't feel cold, I just felt normal then yeah."
"How do you feel now?"
"Fine, I just have a headache."
"Drink the water, it'll help." Will sat down next to him, placing a hand over his. "Okay, you're warmer now. Just tell me if you feel sick in any way, alright?" Nico nodded in response,"By the way, we have Jason and Reyna down as your legal guardians, were-"
"Wait what? How and why would Grace and Reyna be my legal guardians exactly?"
"Well we don't count godly parents since they're always hard to contact and they may or may not have threatened me into putting them down as yours."
"And you agreed because?"
"Jason threatened to electrocute me then get Percy to drown me, that didn't sound like much fun. I was going to ask were you aware of that but from that response I'm guessing no?"
"No shit, so what you have to tell them when shit happens to me?"
"Well I need to tell at least one of them and they need to approve on certain things." Nico scowled,
"It's not like they're actually my legal guardians Solace."
"Neeks at this point they are, Jason is probably planning to legally adopt you on his eighteenth birthday."
"Please kill me."
"No can do Death boy."
"What is with you and your obsession with nicknames?"
"You know you love the nicknames, Neeks."
"Perché questo." Nico muttered, Will glanced at the clipboard he was holding.
"Okay so there's so things I need to fill in, I probably should have done that earlier. Anything you've been diagnosed with that I'm not aware of?"
"Don't think so, dyslexia, ADHD, depression, anxiety and PTSD."
"Who do you want as your emergency contacts? Jason and Reyna are already on there."
"Hazel I guess."
"Okay great Hazel and Percy."
"What?"
"Take a guess."
"Oh my Gods they either think I'm their child or hate me, can someone please be fucking normal?" Will smiled and and patted Nico on the head receiving dagger eyes,
"Nope di Angelo. Okay height and weight, take off your shoes." Will was nervous for the results, looking at Nico now he could see all of his rib. "Neeks you're tiny; stand up straight. 5'6" Will patted him on the head.
"Oh shut up Solace, you're a giraffe."
"No, you're just really short."
"Oh fuck you." Nico said stepping on the scale, it read 84 pounds.
"Nico, that's dangerously underweight. Three full meals a day, no exceptions."
"Solace I'm fine, I've survived four and a half years barely eating, I don't need to start now."
"Nico di Angelo, it's an actual miracle you've survived this long. You need to eat, you're alive but just barely. Please...don't die on me, I just want you to be healthy." Will pulled him into a hug, but Nico pushed him away.
"Leave me alone, I've been just fine living like this. If I die so what? No one would care anyways."
"I would care, Reyna would care, Jas-"
"No he wouldn't, I heard him talking about me with Leo and Piper on the Argo II. He voted to leave me to die in that jar. As for you, you barely know me. You'll care for a day and then forget I existed, just leave me alone."
"Nico..." Will went to place his hand on his shoulder but he grabbed it and pushed it away.
"Leave. Me. Alone." Nico with tears in his eyes, "I don't care about any protocol either leave or let me leave."
"Okay Nico." Will said before walking out of the infirmary. Nico fell on the bed, slipped on his T-shirt and cried into his pillow. He wanted to cut, or drink, or smoke but he knew he couldn't do anything stuck in the infirmary. He wanted to shadow travel out but it was the middle of the day, someone would see him. He didn't want to be in the infirmary any longer than he had to, he wanted to get as far away as he could from Will Solace. Him and his blonde hair and blue eyes, that bright smile. Well, I'm doing a good job on pushing him away. Nico thought to himself, the sound of his crying being muffled by the pillow.

'em' you may say. 'em once again it is not a tuesday or a thursday why are you here with another—' shut up. my life is hilarious.
presenting: em engages in the local classical music scene, electric boogaloo. special guest: tita conductor
so as may have been stated before, i managed to reserve a seat at an open rehearsal for the local philharmonic because this was literally the extracurricular life i dreamed of having five years ago. i was also aware that i would likely be the only person under the age of thirty from my university orchestra in attendance
which was the case. i found myself sitting one chair down from tita conductor (who tiptoed up the row towards me upon seeing me, leaving me frankly. Baffled. like madam what is your deal)
upon getting comfortable, she pulled out a whole 15-inch laptop and, turning it on, said eagerly, 'i've got the score [of the symphony they were performing] here to follow along and nerd out about!' before she realized. that she needed wi-fi to access it.
naturally i thought that was hilarious but once she started reading the conductor notes i was lowkey getting interested (you all know me.) and she noticed me getting interested so she said 'you can come sit next to me'. needed no second urging
luckily they didn't even start with that one (florence price my beloved. beautiful work for strings and conducted by the guest conductor)
then we moved on to a locally written violin concerto that did not immediately endear itself to me because of its requirement to have the brass do a sound like a car backfiring twice in the first movement. not fun
then the soloist (also composer) stopped to request a microphone because he couldn't project over the orchestra, they spent several minutes fussing with that
tita conductor leaned over to me (leaned is a strong word, she had already decided that my left armrest was Her armrest despite the seat on her left being empty) and whispered "that is probably about $2000 worth of wages right there" LMAO?
they finally went on their way, but at several points i found myself increasingly concerned that tita conductor was going to doze off on me. picture a "who wants to be a millionaire" question such that:
after that they took a break, during which tita conductor was heading toward the parking lot to fetch a scarf for our principal cellist (who was also in attendance, one seat down on tita conductor's other side) and, being Decidedly Not A City Person, i tagged along just so i could have a walking buddy to get water from my car.
not for the first time, she asked me whether i found the score of the modern piece i'd requested useful, which i answered to the affirmative. then she pressed further on why i'd wanted it, to which i told her the truth: general curiosity, and wanting to write in cues for myself as a backup plan if i miscounted the various time signature changes, or places where the string rhythms matched so i could take a look at bowings during rehearsal. she seemed to file that away for reference.
we headed back in for the second half, where at last tita conductor could pull out the score she was so excited to read (and re-log in to the wi-fi so she could read it), and spent the next 35 minutes squinting at the laptop screen following it. which was a lot of fun (even if we did get lost for a few pages halfway through the second movement and have to wait to hear a recognizable bit to reorient)
after returning to some parts of the first movement for review, they closed with a group of singers. as they were setting up microphones on stage, i was realizing that the dehydration headache i had had since brahms the night before was growing worse
off tita conductor's query as to whether i was going to attend the actual concert, my response that my headache was getting worse, and my realization that i was out of tylenol, she rummaged in her bag and offered me some advil out of an old makeup container, which i almost took before i realized (1) i've never taken ibuprofen and (2) i was going to just accept drugs off a random woman, favorite person in the music department she may be.
i politely declined and resolved to grit my teeth through it.
i was eager to get out and head back home, but as tita conductor (again, walking buddy) and i tried to get out the door, some lady blocked our way out to interview us on 'how we can increase engagement of young people with classical music'. well, perfect person to ask, i thought, seeing as that's pretty much her job. i was pretty anxious to head out, but saw that i actually would have something relevant to say about it as a Member of the Classical Music Community and Certified Youth, so i stayed back with tita conductor.
"i know you have to keep the orchestra going, but your student tickets should not be $20" - tita conductor, Fighting For Her Students
finally the random lady turned to me and asked "and what would you like to see programmed in an orchestra concert? movie music? contemporary pieces?"
it gave me much pleasure to give her a direct stare and say, "mid-classical. late classical. early romantic."
i mean i did warn her that i'm not necessarily representative of an entire demographic (look, i was the only undergrad tita conductor invited who actually came) but she was actually a little surprised by that?
also like. you ask Me. principal second violinist of the [unnamed university] orchestra, as i stand next to my boss, tita conductor, conductor of the [unnamed university] orchestra, after i just studied a score and attended an all-brahms concert the night before, and act surprised that i don't go for the movie music.
so i added my whole spiel about how young people, especially students who are expected to have some grasp of Western history, could best be reached out to if only organizations just. Went out of their way to give historical context in like a pre-concert talk or something like that. how i took for granted that people generally can connect art with the times in which it was created because that was how i developed my own musicality—through an historic lens.
i didn't really know if i got the point across because (1) headache and (2) tita conductor was looking very intently at me
hilarious to me how tita conductor also chipped in "and em is very serious about [classical music]" like we didn't just spend three hours statler-and-waldorfing in the back of this auditorium
walking back to the parking, trying to be a little lighthearted, i said "well that was... a little on the spot" to which tita conductor looked back at me and said "but i agree with you. you were right." W FOR ME I HAVE GOOD TAKES!
we chatted a little more (during which tita conductor straight up blocked the sun when she noticed i was squinting up at her, making another 'the frizz around a girl's hair is actually a halo' moment) before going our separate ways
i ran into another fucking pothole by accident on my way home but it was at such a low speed that the tires did not get damaged.
anyways. one year out from my fateful 'oh god i think i like my conductor' moment. we are having tita conductor moments like i wouldn't ever have believed.
this is making things very, very difficult for me.

lanyon with someone who's from the future and deliberately traveled to past claiming that their gadgets are from magic just to piss him off? afaik in the novel he doesn't support supernaturalism and jekyll's balderdash so the intereaction would be funny lmfao (could be platonic or romantic depends on you)
take care!
-🦋 anon
𝟎𝟎𝟏. 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 '𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤'
⠀⠀⠀: ᯓ 𝟎𝟎𝟐.⠀ LANYON X READER
› 〉 𝟎𝟎𝟑. SYNOPSIS, Lanyon just doesn't believe in magic and you're not making it any easier
› 〉 𝟎𝟎𝟒. WARNINGS, none apart from maybe out of character historically wise.
› 〉 𝟎𝟎𝟓. AUTHOR'S NOTES, I'm happy to do another Jekyll and Hyde request!! :) I may have went overboard.
「 ★ 」 ⠀・At first Lanyon is gonna be very skeptical of you, I mean you're this random person (dressed in some really weird clothes btw) preaching to him about how you're 'magical', it's slightly insulting to him.
⠀「 ★ 」 ⠀・He questions you a lot, mostly the basic ones like "who are you?" and "where did you come from?" and of course, the classic "what do you want from me?" I mean lets be serious it is slightly tiring because he keeps repeating himself.
You sighed, clearly annoyed- Lanyon kept asking you the same damn questions and it was eating away at your brain, who knew someone like this would be so irritating to be around? You sure as hell didnt. "Lanyon, Lanyon- please just stop, I already told you I'm NOT an alien, or some freaky monster that's gonna come after you... jesus" "I don't believe you" you deadpanned, wow- how the actual fuck does this guy have friends "Well then why do you keep asking me these dumb ass questions?" you retorted, leaning back on your chair, blowing a rasberry to the cieling of his room.
"Well pardon me for questioning the person who just broke into my home, you should feel lucky I havent even informed the authorities." his comment made you laugh, did everyone in this time period seriously talked like this? It sounds stupid, like no one from your time line ever speaks like this, no one calls the feds the 'authorities' unless they're older than 60. Your laughing seemed to make him extremely upset, though it wasnt like he could do anything he tried when you arrived: he tried to shoot you out of terror but the moment the bullet came closer to you it disintigrated. "Don't laugh at me." "My deepest apologies my dearest gentleman!"
「 ★ 」 ⠀・Thats pretty much how your 'friendship' started, and from then on you wouldn't leave him alone, always talking about how magical you are and use your devices to annoy Lanyon. Whenever you two are alone he tries to study you to see if you're lying or telling the truth
「 ★ 」 ⠀・Since you're always around him you've got to meet his friends; Utterson and Jekyll, who liked you (but thats only because you didn't act the same as you did to Lanyon). Jekyll esspecially found you interesting but you avoided him- after all you know his secret and dont really wanna get involved with stuff like that PLUSSS you gotta keep Lanyon company.
「 ★ 」 ⠀・speaking of, whenever you're around Lanyon you use a phone, which freaks him tf out because what the hell do you mean you can text people in RUSSIA within seconds? That's impossible.... to him.
"[name]?" you heard the voice of lanyon call out to you, in turn you lifted your head and met his eyes "Yeah?" "What is that?" he pointed to your phone "It's my phone?" ... "what is a phone?"
Yeah you loved explaining a phone to him, watching his eyes buldge out of his skull as you kept talking about the internet and what Wi-fi is. Then everyday, when you two would have a chance to talk you'd show him other devices you owned, to which he'd allways call you a 'witch', whether it was a joke or not you really didn't care.
「 ★ 」 ⠀・When Lanyon found out about Hyde and Jekyll being the same person you were there, making sure to keep him as sane as possible and safe in case Hyde or Jekyll tried anything- after all you and him grew closer over the months you were with him. You did also video everything with a secret camera just incase of anything.
「 ★ 」 ⠀・You expected him to not get as sick as he did originally because you were there and shocked him but unfortunately you couldnt stop it. He was going to end up dying, and in a sad way you blamed yourself; you did force the plot forward.
"[name] I dont need you here okay? I'll be okay, my servants will take care of me" "Bullshit! they don't know anything about medication or taking care of someone" You agrued with Lanyon, staring at him solemly- he was dying and you could tell, you've seen people die like everyday (while you did glorify the future world to Lanyon it was all just you projecting, your timeline is just as bad as the medieval one). "I still have a bunch of stuff I can try to use" You rummaged through your bag after calming down, not daring to look at your friend's sad expression, it would make you emtotional too.
"If nothing can help me from your items, let alone mine, then I'm not worth it... I just still cannot wrap my head around everything." "Then dont, it will only make you worse Lan" You finally had the mental strength to look at him, seeing his pale and tired face made your heart ache, maybe if you never came he's be okay?. no of course he wouldn't be, he'd still die except it would be alone. You just thought that with your arrival and your tech you would be able to at least numb his reaction a bit but I guess seeing a murderer transform into one of your old friends would cause everyone to live in shock, or maybe not. "[Name] listen, promise me, that if I die... which I will, will you keep Utterson company? I fear at the thought of him.... or you being alone after my death"
When did he become so fucking sentimental? with a sad chuckle you responded "I thought you hated me? becuase I'm magical?" "No, I mean, I still find your antics slightly frustating but nothing can be done now. Just please promise me" "okay... fine Lanyon, I promise" ... it took him a while to answer you but he did "Thank you [name], not for just that but for being around me? I suppose your company brought me some sense of joy....." "Thank you too Lan"
「 ★ 」 ⠀・It did break your heart to see Lanyon die, but you had a promise to fufill, and that you did. You kept Utterson company until the day he found about everything too and eventually accepted everything. Even though he gave you chacne to leave him alone you didn't, afterall you had made a promise to Lanyon. What kind of a friend would you be if you didn't keep your promise? a terrible one.
「 ★ 」 ⠀・You justed hoped that Lanyon was at peace.

Chapter 11 of 21 Questions
better interface on wattpad
Today was one of the most important days of Alex's life: she would be trying to get tickets to see her favourite YouTubers, the Sturniolo Triplets. The three brothers were planning a tour around the start of autumn and Alex was more than ready to go to a show. She had been mentioning it to everyone around her, meaning her friends and family, and would annoy them even more if she managed to get tickets – no one wants to know how she'll react if she does not get tickets. Her main goal was one of the last dates of the tour as the triplets would end it on the East Coast, near enough Spring Hill where Alex lived. T-time was approaching and Alex almost regretted the day off she took for this as being alone was stressing her even though she knew it was the best way for her to get tickets. Her motivation got a bit higher when she received a text from her best friend.
Lily loml🌻
Hi bestie, ik it's almost time so i just wanna wish you luck and keep me updated<3
I will if i succeed but don't expect anything if I don't get them😭
Although she wanted to stay positive, Alex was still mentally prepared to spend the rest of her day crying in bed while eating ice cream. Obviously, she really wanted to see the triplets but thinking about the worst that could happen would help her not be too disappointed. It would hurt less, right?
Well, it still hurt a lot when it was time to get tickets and the power went out, meaning that Alex's Wi-Fi connection was temporarily off. Quickly, the girl took her phone and switched her mobile hotspot on while trying to get Ticketmaster to work – always some issues with that website. As she kept refreshing the tabs on her laptop and phone, Alex's motivated smile started to turn upside down. She knew not to immediately quit when the website wasn't letting her select a ticket category because there was none left. It simply meant that people might just be thinking about buying the tickets and could let them go at any time, whether because they didn't want it anymore or because of the stressful timer that didn't last very long.
However, half an hour of waiting for available tickets turned into an hour and hope had completely left Alex. Not even any general admission tickets left? This is crazy, Alex thought. She had expected the VIP tickets to go first as people would mostly want to experience everything during the tour but even the most basic ones were sold out. Only the “front line extra” was left but they were worth nothing without at least a normal ticket. Alex kept switching tabs between the Orlando and Tampa shows but because nothing was becoming available to select, tears started to form in her eyes. It was becoming real: Alex wouldn't see the Sturniolo Triplets this year. The blonde was in such despair at the moment that she closed her laptop, threw her phone on the couch and left the living room to go cry in her room – not before grabbing her well-deserved ice cream that would have either celebrated the ticket purchase or in this case is actually to prevent Alex from throwing herself from her window.
~~~
At the café, Lily was currently frowning at her phone when she noticed that her best friend hadn't texted her in almost two hours. This is not good, Lily thought. This is not good at all. Indeed, this was a clear sign that Alex hadn't succeeded in buying tickets to see the triplets. Lily turned to her coworkers with whom she was closing and asked them for advice:
“Guys, I don't think Alex got tickets because it's radio silence”
“Oh shit,” Jade sighed about the news. “And it's not like any of us got better luck.”
Unbeknownst to Alex, her three friends had tried to get tickets during their shift as they had all had their phones opened on ticketmaster and even the store's computer – which led to some complaints from customers as they would take longer than usual to take and prepare orders. It was for the greater good though because when one of them is in need, the others do what they can to help. Each one of them had focused on one show in Floria to increase their chances: Lily had failed for Orlando, Jade had failed Tampa and Lucas had failed St. Lauderdale. It still was crazy to them that they probably lost the “Ticketmaster war” against thirteen year-old children.
Thinking about how they could raise Alex's spirits, Lucas, Jade and Lily decided to head to the supermarket near the café and buy the ingredients to cook homemade pizza for Alex – not basic circular pizzas obviously but differently shaped than the usual such as hearts or stars. They knew it would make her feel better because she deserved to be and although they couldn't cheer her up with tickets, they would try their best to bring a smile back onto Alex's face. Moreover, today being Wednesday meant that a new video had come out and Alex had certainly missed it by being too focused on trying to buy tickets to the tour. In conclusion, tonight's plan was to get Alex out of her bed to make her enjoy life again with pizza and the Sturniolo Triplets – all a girl could wish for, right?
~~~
After coming back to Lily and Alex's house, Lucas and Jade started to prepare the food while Lily was given the task to go check on her best friend. While going upstairs, she quickly texted Matt to let her know about her change of plans.
Matt🍂
Heyy, I know we had said we would play fortnite tonight but smth urgent came up and imma have to postpone ://
Is everything ok?
But no worries, we can find another day!
I mean i am fine but my friend isn't really feeling good so we're spending the evening w her
No problem, i hope she'll feel better
It's alex right?
Yepp
Text me when you're free then
I should be able to find time during the weekend
Great, thanks for understanding
I'll get back to you soon!
As she knocked on Alex's door, Lily gave a last fast thought to Matt and smiled at how kind he was – never judging her or holding grudges against her. In complete honesty, having to postpone stuff happened to both of them as they each had their own life with jobs that took a lot of their time: Matt had to film two videos and a podcast that his brother Nick would post every week whereas Lily had her full-time job at the café.
Due to a lack of response from Alex, Lily gently opened the door and was met with her friend in quite a poor state: Alex was wearing a hoodie that covered almost her entire face and had a half-empty ice cream pot in her hands. Her laptop was opened on the bed and was showing one of Alex’s favourite Tv shows – Merlin.
“I hope you’re not watching the end of season five just to make you feel even sadder”, Lily tried to joke.
“Nope,” Alex replied as she paused the episode and turned to face her best friend. “I can never survive this part ever again.”
“Neither can I.” After a short silence of looking at one another, Lily understood that she had her friend’s attention. “You wanna come downstairs and eat an actual meal? Jade and Lucas are here as well.”
“Hmm”, Alex feigned to think as she knew exactly that her friends were aware of today’s failure and wanted to cheer her up. “I guess I can come say hi and focus on something else”.
Alex’s agreement to the idea was enough to put a grin on Lily’s face and as the blonde left her bed for the first time in two hours, she also managed to reciprocate a small smile. Before leaving the room, Lily pulled Alex in for a quick hug then took her hand before descending the stairs.
When the two girls arrived in the kitchen, they were met with Lucas and Jade putting the pizzas in the oven. They had made heart-shaped pizzas – one with pepperoni, one with vegetables and a third one with multiple cheeses on it. As Lily forced Alex to sit down at the table, she started setting everything up and put out some snacks to eat while the four friends would wait for the pizzas to cook.
Everyone knew not to mention the reason why they were hanging out and without even having to explicitly agree, the evening would be a normal one simply happening because they wanted to spend time together.
~~~
After a dinner filled with laughter and fun facts about some customers, Alex was definitely feeling much better. She knew that even though the triplets might not do another tour soon after this one, she still had time to meet them later in her life: they were young and not stopping their career anytime soon.
As they were finishing to put everything away, Lucas and Jade were also getting ready to leave the girls’ house and come back to their respective homes. The door was opened and the four coworkers were all standing in a circle in the doorway, just smiling at each other. Alex was the first to break the silence:
“Thanks guys for tonight, I don’t deserve you. I hope you all know I’m grateful for you.”
“Of course babe”, Lily answered. “We’ll alway be here for you.”
Jade and Lucas agreed then decided to start a group hug. Being the tallest, Lucas was easily towering over the girls and could hug them all at once. As Lily began to sway from left to right, they all laughed because she was making everyone lose their balance and almost led to Jade tripping on a shoe.
“Oops,” Alex chuckled. “That’s mine”.
The small incident marked the end of the hug and the beginning of actual goodbyes. Waiting for their friends to drive away, Lily and Alex waved at them before closing their front door as they saw the car leaving.
A comfortable silence settled between them as they made their way upstairs. It was an unwritten agreement between the two best friends: if one of them had had a miserable day, cuddling was mandatory. Therefore, while Lily went to take a shower, Alex sat on the brunette’s bed and opened her laptop. With everything that happened today, Alex had forgotten about the triplets’ new video and so it was the perfect way to end the day. Even if they weren’t seeing the triplets in real life, they still had their videos which were waiting to be re-watched as many times as necessary.
~~~
By the time the girls had finished The great family vacation video, Alex was getting sleepy. Lily thus decided to put the laptop away because she realised she needed to rest as well. Barely five minutes later, Lily came back in bed and saw that Alex was already sound asleep. As Lily went under the covers, her best friend unconsciously shifted closer to her as if to seek comfort from having someone with her.
Right before closing her eyes, Lily took her phone to turn it off and received a message at the same time.
Matt🍂
Here to check in, I hope the situation is fine now
Don't hesitate to reach out
Good night Lily :)
With a quick but genuine smile, Lily mentally thanked Matt. Then, as she was too tired to immediately reply back, her eyelids grew heavy and she fell asleep. Phone still in hand, Lily's brain got influenced and although her mind had no idea what he looked like, she could feel Matt's presence in her dreams.
Thank you for reading. Votes and comments are always appreciated if you like this story :) The story is co-written w @/little_grapejuice on wattpad

jamie could have the eliot scene where he tries to go talk to his dad and his dad doesn't answer, and it could be like james just got out of prison and jamie wants to go see if they can Fix Things between them now that jamie's life at least isn't so violent anymore and maybe he can help james get on track on the outside so he won't end up back in and and and
and james doesn't answer because he blames jamie for him getting caught in the first place, and jamie tells him about hacking through the door, and he doesn't answer that either but he throws something at the door and jamie flinches back all the way off the porch. and then he just goes home.
and roy's like how did it go? and jamie says it went the best it could have.
Eeeeeeeeeeee ok ok ok but. but. Here's the thing. Jamie's dad is very Nate's-dad-coded to me. So in my mind I had it going more along the lines of The Three-Card Monte job.
Like this:
Even from the street Roy could hear the laughter spilling out of the Crown and Anchor, and after a long day of reconnaissance it called like a reward in waiting.
Roy didn't mind doing legwork for a con- in fact he appreciated Ted's insistence that the team dot their t's and mind their p's and whatever else he wanted them to inflict on the rest of the alphabet. Better prep made for a safer job. Roy had worked for enough men who'd sacrifice the time upfront if it meant getting to the next score faster; he respected that Ted wasn't one of them.
As their feet sloshed through the snow, Jamie kept a running commentary on the dirt he'd dug up in the breakroom. While he'd waited for his crawlers to skim the server (which to hear him tell it, was so laughably out of date that buying something on the company's Wi-Fi ran a bigger risk than riding passenger in Colin's Fiat), he'd learned from Jeanine who'd heard from Alan that Erik-with-a-'k' Davies was the one who'd decided to pass on Jim-from-R&D's project proposal after quarterlies came in low.
Thank fuck Roy'd never had a real job. He didn't know how people put up with it. He'd rather stab his eyes out than pretend to care about breakroom gossip.
But that wouldn't stop him from doing his job. He dutifully noted all the names - Jeanine, Alan, Jim, Erik-with-a-'k' - knowing that even the smallest details could mean the difference between making a cover or blowing the con.
"Can't believe I had to use a photocopier to make copies of the building schematics," Jamie complained for the umpteenth time. He stood back to let Roy open the door for him, despite the fact that it was Roy who was carrying his duffel full of tech. "In this day and age, a company worth billions should really consider digitizing-"
Six things happened at once. Years of experience gave Roy the particular skill to parse the components of a situation in order of importance.
The most concerning, the domino that set the rest in motion, was how Jamie's body froze, a fear response where he'd been at ease a second ago.
Instinct had Roy stepping in front of him, an arm slung protectively over his chest to hide, block, or push him away, whatever was called for.
His eyes hit all the exits: no one blocking the kitchen or alley, and the door behind them remained clear.
Identify the people of interest in the room, the other potential targets he might need to shield: Keeley and Rebecca at the bar, their heads thrown back in laughter. Colin, pleasantly bored or bored-ly pleasant, pouring out a lager for an older bloke.
Assess the older bloke; the only other other person sitting at the bar. Grey slicked back hair and a receding hairline. Steel-toed boots, worn through and poorly kept, so not an actual laborer. Clean, new denim and a mass market coat. An unspoiled duffel bag on the seat next to him. Fresh out of prison, then.
Either hearing the door swing open or feeling the cold breeze that gusted in behind them, the older man turned to look over his shoulder. Head-on he seemed younger than lines on his face implied, and his cheeks flushed ruddy with drink. He grinned (Manchester dental work), and under the guard of Roy's arm, Jamie flinched.
"Well, well, well. Look who's decided to show himself." The old bloke chuckled; it didn't reach his eyes. "If it ain't my own flesh and blood."

A More Discrete Calling Out, a Miraculous Ladybug fanfic
Summary: What if Ladybug had been calmer and more discrete in calling Lila out for her day 1 lies?
Hey, it's me again for @mlsecretsanta exchange, this year for @lajudit I'm basing Lila's characterization on her Volpina appearance, plus the idea she's just a teenager doing teenager things. I mean, who didn't do stupid things at 14? Now on with the story.
Lila was happy with her first day at the new school. She had made an impression on most of her class (though not the class representative. The poor girl was horribly sleep deprived, and there was nothing to gain from waking her up), got the class hottie’s attention to listen to her (and to top it off he was the only son of Gabriel Agreste. A possible in for a modeling career), set up a massive prank that would make her the talk of the school, and got a cute fox-themed necklace. She knew nothing could ruin her day now.
Then a hand grabbed her and pulled her in a side halley, and she was face to face with a hotirate Ladybug.
“Uh… Hi?” Lila said.
“Hi, best friend.” the superheroine said, her voice dripping with sarcasm (maybe she hadn’t appreciated the prank). Then she pulled out her yo-yo, that apparently doubled as a communicator, and showed her a video – the interview with Cesaire, straight from the Ladyblog. “Care to explain?”
“She published it without verifying?!” Lila whisper-screamed, looking in horror at the yo-yo.
“Wait, what?”
Lila started hyperventilating. This was bad, her castle of cards was going to collapse the wrong way, and she was going to need to lock herself in her house until she was twenty! Or go for that weird plan and turn her hair into a wig while fabricating some identity and use it to get a new life, and-
“Calm down and breath with me.” Ladybug said as she put Lila’s hand on her back.
And from there Ladybug helped Lila out of her panic attack. Because of course one of Paris’ Heroes would learn to help with panic attacks.
“So… What was supposed to happen?” Ladybug asked once Lila was calmer.
“Just… Just a big prank.” Lila admitted. “My mom’s a diplomat, so we move around the world all the time, and when I get to a new school I like to try and see what I can get my new classmates to believe, and with the new class full of big names and a girl that thinks I’m actually a friend of Prince Ali rather than friendy acquaintances I decided to go big, and the Alya Cesaire calling me out was supposed to be when I pulled the rag from under everyone! She was supposed to check with you before publishing, and then give me the chance to tell everyone to guess which of my tales were true!”
“Why did you think Alya would do that? Or even could?”
“Well, I thought the exclusive interview…”
“One of her friends had accidentally deleted a video for the Ladyblog, found me, and asked me for the interview to repay her. Alya had already saved a copy, but I did it anyway.”
Lila’s palm met her forehead at terminal velocity.
“Then why didn’t she hunt you down?” Lila asked. That was what she would have done, publishing such a video with the notoriety of the Ladyblog could be suicidal.
“Because when I’m involved she stops thinking things through, and rationalizes after the fact.” Ladybug replied, exhasperation (and fondness?) clear in her voice. “I mean, the whole Lady Wi-Fi incident happened because she thought Chloé Borgeouis was me in spite of seeing me saving her in my second outing, and right after she came up with the idea I had Lucky Charmed a fake Chloé to throw off investigators…”
That was surprisingly plausible, if one didn’t know Ladybug can’t conjure living stuff – something she actually had only explained in the exclusive interview. Lila wondered why the heroine was so sure Cesaire had come to that idea only after the Lady Wi-Fi incident. Better not ask, such a train of thought could potentially lead her to stumble on her secret identity and she didn’t want nor need both the knowledge and the danger of knowing.
Speaking of knowing...
“Were you into my school’s library earlier?” Lila asked, remembering the flashes of red she had spotted.
“NO! Why would I be there?! There was nothing for me to look for!” Ladybug denied. Badly.
“Well, my guess was that you have some kind of surveillance in place due the far too many Akumatizations and spotted a certain suspicious thing or were after me for the interview, but now…” Lila made a point to try and tease Ladybug if she ever had the chance again, her faces were adorablehilarious. But pleasure could wait, she had more pressing things to do. Like giving her a certain book. “Nevermind why you were there, you certainly spotted this.”
“Why do you have it?”
“There’s Chinese-style drawings of what look like Miraculous and their users, every page has enough nonsense in nyctography to make me think it’s a code based on Chinese writing, and one page had a drawing that looks weirdly like an ancestor of mine that family lore says wore that exact costume, was involved in weird stuff, and liked to play with illusions and tricks. There’s enough to make me think it has to do with Miraculous, meaning you would want it and I was in the right place to help. Also, I need to ask my grandmother about family lore.”
Ladybug blinked for a moment, processing how she just stumbled on someone who was apparently related to a past Miraculous user, then summoned a micro camera through her Lucky Charm.
“I’ll make copies of all pages, then you give the book back to Adrien before his father goes mad.” Ladybug explained.
“Wait, you decide what to conjure?” Lila asked.
“I can, but it’s usually better left to the magic. Also, no more lies about us being friends, that could turn out to be dangerous if Hawk Moth believes it.”
“But that one wasn’t a lie, it was a prophecy.” Lila replied, pointing out how their interaction had more or less made them friends after Ladybug saved her from a mess partly of her own making.
“Just… Just try and stay safe.”
________
Given the circumstances, Lila had abandoned the plan to impress Adrien. Sure, he was cute and well connected, but a boy she barely even knew wasn’t worth a friendship, even a tentative one. Though she had given him a scare by asking him where the book was before giving it back – seriously, that was an obviously antique book. And you keep antique books safe, no matter how much or how little someone was willing to pay (and if someone had paid three millions and two hundred thousand dollars for Action Comic #1, she didn’t even want to Imagine how much this book could be valued if the right people found out about it).
The next day at school she had been approached by Gabriel Agreste’s secretary (and almost certainly the actual bodyguard. The other guy was large and intimidating and moved quite gracefully for someone his size, but this woman looked like someone who had killed before), who informed her the scare was the only reason Adrien was simply grounded after school for a week and politely asked not to do anything like that again.
Then, after collecting herself from the second most terrifying encounter in her life, she went to class and fessed up on the attempted prank chain – better face some anger now rather than face a castle of cards that could collapse the wrong way and turn her into a pariah any moment. And of course Alya Cesaire was pissed.
“Alya, did you check with Ladybug before publishing that interview?” said the pigtailed and really cute class representative, one Marinette Dupain-Cheng, right as the Ladyblogger was about to start.
“Uuuuhhhh…” Cesaire replied, her rant stopped before it could start.
“It’s my fault. I thought she could contact Ladybug with ease, and did the wrong thing.” Lila admitted.
“If I could I’d have already asked her her real identity.”
“By how she reacted to the interview, and no, we’re not friends” or rather she wasn’t gonna admit it in public now that it was true “that would be the fastest way to piss her off.”
“But how can she get rewarded for her heroism?!”
Oh. Good intentions and utter ignorance of how countries dealt with that. There were international regulations about that, as nobody wanted to either enrage a superhero or force them to quit to make a living.
“Obviously through the special account she got from the City of Paris, with money coming from either the state police or the defense budget, as per United Nations regulations.” the blonde Chloé Borgeouis, class bully and daughter of the mayor of Paris and the Queen of Style, obnoxiously pointed out. And reigniting Cesaire’s anger by pointing out that fact in the worst possible way without being vulgar.
As Marinette moved in to prevent an argument, Lila decided she liked it there. Sure, it hadn’t gone as expected but her classmates were interesting in the right way. And who knew, maybe she’d get to stand out for more than her mother or her tales.

1|2 So Idk how prevalent this actually is in the US, but I've several times read articles about schools asking for more funds from the state, because they only have old and broken down equipment, and teachers who can't even afford basic teaching-resources. Reading the article in several cases, makes mentions of the school having actually gotten extra funds, but the funds were used for sports/PE related things, instead where they were needed. One example was a whole new court, despite the old one
2|2 being completely fine. Those are some really weird dystopian reads, because it's like "oh our school doesn't have heating, and all our tables are rotting, there's black mould on every surface and our teachers are starving... BUT LOOK AT THESE NEW SPORTS UNIFORMS, and our BRAND NEW BASKETBASEFOOTBALL COURT! The last one was perfectly fine, but we wanted to modernise it a bit, since we just can't let our sports students run around on a more than 4yo court, or in 2+ yo uniforms. : )"
So, I'm actually going to make a big video/audio going over everything that I experienced in my first year of solo-teaching once the school year ends.
However, for the sake of this ask, I want to put a few things in perspective.
So some people may remember those really cold rainstorms that California had late last year/early this year. ...Yeah, up to today the heating in my classroom doesn't work. And while I can circumvent it by bundling up or with all the moving around a classroom that I do, my students weren't so lucky and it would be a constant back and forth of 'Ms. Lit, can you turn on the heater?'/'Unfortunately, the heater doesn't work, folks.'
During one of the RARE cases of the principal 'checking in' (interestingly enough, I was the only new teacher that she didn't consistently supervise; she pushed me off onto her pretentious vice principal), I mentioned that some of my 10th graders don't respond well to me/or the material and it's probably because of the language barrier (they decided to dump a bunch of lower-level EL students into the class of someone who doesn't speak Spanish) so perhaps I need a language-support aide in those periods. Her response was basically 'Mm... yeah, unless the students question have literally just come over the border, the District isn't going to provide that'
The school I work at boasts being 'one-to-one'. This means that at the beginning of the school year, they gave each student a Chromebook and enforced that teachers primarily teach from digital sources (Google Classroom, slideshows, various educational websites, etc.). Particularly for assessments and data-collecting. *deep, steadying breath*
THE FUCKING WI-FI WENT OUT DURING FINALS WEEK BECAUSE NO ONE WANTED TO SPEND THE MONEY TO CALL SPECTRUM TO COME OUT TO CHECK IT THE WEEK BEFORE!!!
Meanwhile, the school administration happily spent money on:
A new office building
A new parking lot
Renovating classrooms, not for heat or anything important, but to give them shiny new windows and dry-erase walls~
A new 'school of transportation' building
And CAPS! Which the district boasts as an 'all-inclusive afterschool program' but, in reality, is just babysitting. Especially since most afterschool programs end around 4 but one evening I had to stay until 7 to help with a basketball game and I saw two of my students still at school and, upon asking what was up, they responded 'Oh, we're in CAPS. We're just heading over to the library for some more books'.

Nintendo 3DS Retrospective Part 2: A System’s Function
The beauty of this handheld is that there are so many things you can do on this system without even having a game. I think it's what gave the 3DS its charm, giving you a reason to keep playing.
As a kid, I didn’t have any internet. The closest I had was this Telstra Prepaid Wi-Fi stick where I used to waste all the internet downloading Sailor Moon videos. There was a short period where I was able to connect my 3DS to the internet so I got to experience at least the heyday a bit!
Anyway, I spent most of my time on the system itself, the lovely Home Menu and all its built in software. I have a lot to say about all these!
Part 2 is under the cut!
I had three 3DSs at the very end, to which only one works properly. The other two have issues but I still kept them for the precious memories. It's crazy to think how long this handheld has been in my life, and how many memories it gave me.
Without it, I don't think I would be who I am today. I really don't know we will live in a world without it...
For as long as I can, I will keep playing on it! I’ll be 50 and still be on my 3DS lol
How did I get my first 3DS?
It was out of nowhere. I didn't know I was going to get this life changing handheld. My dad and I were driving to our family friend’s house as we always did back in the day, while I stared out the window blissfully unaware.
Once we got there…my dad stopped the car and pulled out a box from under the seat and handed it over to me, telling me that he had a surprise.
It was a red original 3DS?! I took it into my hands, staring at the box in disbelief. I remember the box so vividly, and the awe I felt at the fact my dad got me this?! My dad looked real happy to see me so happy.
I remember wanting to rip it open right then and there. My dad told me to wait until we actually got into the house since he also had another one for my family friend. At the time, I only had my DSI which I used be on all the time.
I remember rushing in and opening my 3DS with my family friend who opened theirs, plugging in the handheld and turning it on for the very first time. The setup music is so nostalgic to me for this reason, I spent some time setting it all up and exploring the home menu.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t charge well to this current day, you have to press down on the charger in order for the system to charge at all. I think something is wrong with the charging port but I was never able to fix it.
This was the first 3DS I ever modded, because I was too afraid to mod my 2DS back when. If I bricked my main 2DS, I would have cried. I nicknamed it my “Luma 3DS” after the custom firmware and installed a whole bunch of games on it! I even got a custom theme with the Luma 3DS logo.
I put it somewhere but I don’t know where it ended up aha
How did I get my second 3DS?
My red 3DS lasted probably a year or two before it decided to stop working out of nowhere. The blue LED would turn on, and then a small pop sound could be heard as it turned off. I remember I was really upset, because I loved this handheld.
I was out of a 3DS.
For my birthday shortly, my grandma bought me a white 3DS XL, the same one as above! It came preinstalled with Mario Kart 7, which is why its my favourite Mario Kart.
I remember pointing at it in Big W when she asked me what I wanted, and my grandma didn't look as happy as I was. I think the price displeased her but she still bought it for me, hehe.
This was my main handheld for years, where my brother used play on it from time to time despite how much I didn't want him to. I still have it to this day, although it is worse for wear. One day, it refused to boot into the Home Menu.
No matter what I tried, it wouldn't boot. It would either be stuck on the Black Screen of Death or it would be stuck on the Home Menu transition you would get when you pressed the home button. It was really devastating for me, I had so many memories on here that I couldn't access anymore.
My red 3DS started working out of nowhere, by the way. One day, I tried turning it on and it booted into the home menu without any trouble. I remember showing my dad and he wondered why I even got this white one if the red one was working.
That’s when I dubbed it my dad’s 3DS since he liked to play Mario Kart 7 with my brother and I from time to time and he would use this one. I actually wiped the whole 3DS for him since I wanted my dad to have it (even though I didn’t have to do that lol).
How did I get my current 2DS?
Surprisingly, I got out of gaming for a while. At least on the 3DS side, which is utter blasphemy to me now. I can't believe I'd ever stop playing this handheld! I feel like it makes me a fraud, you see how much I harp on about this handheld and yet I stopped playing it lol
In 2019, I made a friend who really liked Pokémon. He would often bring his 3DS XL to school to show me his games and all the Pokémon he caught. He would ask me if I had any of the Pokémon games and I said I did. This prompted me to find my red 3DS and buy Pokemon Moon so I could play alongside him.
But alas, since my red 3DS has those issues as you know, it was really hard for me to have a fully charged handheld. I felt so bad when my friend wanted to battle me, but I couldn't half the time since the 3DS was either dead or about to die.
He were kind enough to give me his charging dock for the 3DS, but it still didn't solve the issue.
That’s when I decided for my birthday, I would ask for a new 3DS! I wanted to play with my friend! It was harder to find a new 3DS on sale in the shops at this time, so I went to my local pawn shop. I remember wanting an actual 3DS, but my mum wanted to get something a bit cheaper.
This is why I have my 2DS! It came with its own case, which was one of the reasons I chose it. I didn't mind not having any 3D functionality, since I never used it anyway on either of my previous 3DSs.
It still works to this day, and fully modded! I finally got over my fear of modding it, nothing happened. It really is easy to mod your 3DS, by the way.
I do plan on buying a Japanese New 3DS LL one day, the pink and white one! I've always wanted it for myself!
A sad story...
I used to keep all my games in this case right here, since I didn't like keeping them in their original boxes for some reason. It's a decision I regret to this day, since I really like the boxes!
As I mentioned above, I got out of gaming for some time. It seems like during all that, I misplaced the case. It was gone from sight, no matter where I thought I left it. I looked everywhere, but it was nowhere.
To this day, I have no idea where it is. It's been years...perhaps its gone forever. It's really sad to lose something that meant a lot to you, although I don't blame anyone but myself for this. I should have taken better care of it.
I lost all the games I had physically, and that was practically all my games. I had so many I received over the years, all in a poof. I hope I can manage to find it one day, there are a lot of precious memories in it!
I have a fun fact with this that I’d like to share!
I had two copies of Super Mario 64 DS in here because I lost my first copy and asked my grandma to buy me another one, but then my mum found the first copy some time after lol
Now I take better care of things, but if it ever shows up, I will cry profusely. I hope I can find it!
Home Menu
When you turn on your 3DS, you are met with the Home Menu in all its glory.
It's probably one of my favourite menu designs, alongside the Wii. It's simple yet so effective, the BGM is one everyone will never forget and it's also customizable! I feel like Nintendo peaked here, and then just ditched it when the Switch rolled around.
I used to love scrolling all the way until the very end of the menu, and making the icons bigger or smaller! I also loved making folders to store my games. Ever since my white 3DS, I have a folder for the system titles and a folder for my games and demos!
Themes
With the Home Menu, you were able to customize it with themes! These could be bought from the Theme Shop, which sadly stopped working when they shut down the Nintendo eShop.
I’m using Pokemon Sun and Moon— Tropical currently, but I like swapping them out from time to time. Some have their own BGM and sound effects, while others simply change the background.
Here are some of my favorite ones I have!
Splatoon: Squid Sisters
Senbonzakura/Kurousa
ACNL: Paw Print Room
Kirby Copy Ability Global Poll
Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal
Persona Q2 Theme
Badges
To go with themes, they made badges that you could obtain and add to your menu!
When they released, I remember downloading the Nintendo Badge Arcade when I had the chance to. I'll be making a special post just for it, so please look out for it!
I used to put badges anywhere and everywhere I could! It didn't matter if it looked good or not, I just wanted to have as many as I could!
You could even put them on folders! The absolute peak of this feature.
My favourite badges are the ones that act like software icons, where you could click on them and it would open the software! As you can see, I have ones for each of the built in software. The original titles have been put in a folder at the very end, out of view.
Streetpass Mii Plaza
The iconic plaza that everyone knows! You can’t go hearing Streetpass without the Streetpass Mii Plaza!
I've spent a lot of time on here during my time on this handheld, from its initial stage to what we have now with all the DLC! I have always loved the concept of Streetpass, and I wish they brought it back for the Switch.
Alas.
Let’s talk about each of the things you can do in it! I come from Australia so I'll be using the European names for everything, by the way.
I feel like we can't overlook the main plaza area. The iconic BGM, the sea of Mii characters that you can look over as you increase your plaza population and all the various options and games you can choose from!
Puzzle Swap
I love this little game so much.
As the name suggests, you swap puzzle pieces with the people you Streetpass with to complete various puzzles and gain new ones!
I remember trying very hard to complete all puzzles I had, especially excited when I met new people who had the puzzle pieces I needed! I love the BGM and the little tweet of the bird that swoops in to deliver the pieces you got.
With my 2DS, I have loads of puzzles to complete since I always choose pieces from puzzles I don't have when I get Streetpasses. They are really rare nowadays after all. I want to try to do as many puzzles as I can.
Otherwise, I use Play Coins to buy pieces. This takes forever since you can only buy one at a time, and you aren't guaranteed a piece you don't have. I like to sit there and do this from time to time while watching something.
I have over 500 left to collect...I hope I can complete every single puzzle one day! That will be one of my life goals!
Streetpass Quest
Saving the world has never been so much fun.
This was the first game I ever completed fully, and probably will be the only one. You have to save the King who looks exactly like your Mii from the evil Dark Lord who kidnapped them by recruiting soldiers!
I originally beat this on my white 3DS, slowly progressing through all of the floors. There are many enemies and many types of floors that require certain abilities that are based off the Mii's colour. Very simple but fun!
I remember there was a floor that was bright white which required a Mii with black to darken the floor and a floor that was pitch black, requiring a Mii with white to brighten the area.
The only issue with that was I never got a Mii with those colours. I would buy soldiers with Play Coins, and yet I never got black or white for some reason.
There is also a sequel to this game, where you have to save the Princess and the Prince too! I remember being really surprised when there was more to play.
Later on, they introduced new games, as well as the concept of Streetpass VIP! It was a one time payment and you would receive all of the games available and have added bonuses, such as the ticket system!
I have played every single one, but I'll just talk about the one I enjoyed the most!
Streetpass Garden
This is my favourite game out of all of them. I remember choosing this as the free game that the Streetpass Mii Plaza was offering on my white 3DS.
I love how simple and yet fun it all is. You plant a seed into a pot and the people you meet water the flower and make it grow. It takes a lot of people to do so, more than you would expect.
Once it blooms, you can germinate for seeds! Each seed can either be a new breed or an alternate colour of a breed you already bloomed. There is a percentage for each of these, and I always chose the ones that guaranteed a new breed!
Your goal is to fill up your planter handbook and become a master gardener! I think I was very close to doing so on my white 3DS, while I’m still trying to on my 2DS.
For some reason, I chose the Streetpass Slot Racing game on my 2DS for my free game and I remember regretting it since I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
I just wanted my garden back man.
Activity Log
It's so simple yet so charming.
I love the grid aesthetic they chose, it reminds me of my school notebooks I used to use.
All your titles are shown in this little book and I think that’s so cute. I love flipping through all the pages and seeing every single title I’ve ever played appear on there.
Even Homebrew appears on here, which I found really funny. You see normal titles and then you have the FBI manager.
I loved just looking through each the days, seeing what I played the most!
This reminds me of the Wii, where you would get an envelope with your play time. I actually didn't know this was a thing until I looked at the Activity Log recently.
System Settings
I really love the System Settings. I suppose that might be a weird sentence, but it's true!
The BGM is an absolute banger, sometimes I love to boot up the application to simply listen to it all! Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this.
My favourite one is the Internet Settings, Nintendo didn’t have to go so hard on something like this but they still did. I could listen to this for hours happily and vibe.
The little guy helper is the very best, I never really needed any help to connect to the internet, but I still used the helper anyway. I wish we had something like this guy on the Switch.
I would often visit Other Settings, particularly the Profile section. You can edit the User Name, Date of Birth, Region and go onto the Nintendo DS Profile, and that’s all you could do on there.
Nothing truly special, and yet here I am mentioning it for a very specific reason. It’s probably really odd and weird, but I still want to share it with you all!
I might be the only one but…I like to vibe to the Nintendo DS Profile.
It’s basically the DSi Settings but only having the ability to edit the Message and Colour. The sudden change from the light yellow to black as you see this on your screen….so good.
I love the BGM of this so much, it’s unfunny. It makes me feel things, so much nostalgia for something that most people overlook. I vibe so hard.
As soon as I found out that this existed, I was always there. I still do this from time to time in fact, whenever I’m on the System Settings.
I can hear it even now….
To be continued!
With that, Part 2 is done! We're far from done though, I still have more things to blab about in Part 3! Can you tell how much I like the 3DS?
Hope to see you there!

🎁 and 📚 for the asks!
🎁 Have a piece of a WIP you want to share?
i actually do not!!!! for the first time in 10 yrs i have absolutely nothing for royai. and while that is a wee bit of a shame - genuinely - 10 years!! and finally nothing going on!! what a concept. wild. weird tbh
in the meantime, have a piece of a shelved au fic that's been marinating since before the pandemic but i could never manage to conjure up anything substantial, other than a few scenes (starring a royai kid) :
Take off had never been Mia's favourite part of a flight, but once they levelled out, she made herself comfortable and pulled out her tablet to connect to the plane's Wi-Fi. Putting her headphones in, Mia hit play on her Spotify playlist and leaned back, preparing herself for the next eight hours of sitting on this plane. She worried for her father. Mia didn’t think it was healthy to coop people up in black sites for so long. He could be there for a month, minimum, and a year, maximum. He missed out on so much that was happening. When she was really young, Mia hadn’t fully understood why her father was so absent all the time. When they were together, they had so much fun and when apart, she missed him so much. As Mia grew older, she realised that her constant questioning and tears wore down her mother a lot. She had made excuses for him because Mia was a child and couldn’t understand. “Daddy is working away. He can’t be here right now.” “How about I give you a hug instead? Will that make you feel better?” “Daddy won’t make your birthday this year, sweetheart. I'm sorry. But he’s set up a secret phone call just for you if you want to talk to him?” It wasn’t fair on her mother, but Mia wouldn’t hold that against Dad. It wasn’t his fault. It wasn’t like he could up and leave the military. He was bound to them until his contract was up. They owned him completely. While that terrified Mia, it was his choice. He was old enough to make his own, and Dad wouldn’t do anything that was really dangerous, right? The pilot’s voice came over the PA system, signalling the seatbelt sign had been turned off and they were free to wander about the cabin. Mia settled back once more, opening a game on her tablet and getting ready to entertain herself for the next few hours.
this whole thing was kinda set to the tune of "didn't i" by onerepublic :))))))) if u wanted some extra vibes :)))))
📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?
hohohoho bestie. bestie. do i have a list for you.
let's preface this by saying absolutely ANYTHING by @firewoodfigs @megthemighty @tsaritsa @nightofnyx8 @royai @by-nina @hanamuri are guaranteed bangers. i will consume everything they write asap no questions asked
i would not be able to curate a full list of individual fics bc it's simply too long so basically, just check out my tumblr fic rec tag and my ao3 bookmarks list. it has all the good stuff in there <3

We had a thunderstorm tonight, and I guess could see some stuff tomorrow. It's the start of March, and I'm getting to see lightning. Unreal. Completely unreal. That's one thing me and my dad actually did bond over. A massive love of storms and severe weather. He even chased while they lived in Delafield. It's something we had. And we didn't have all that much really.
I didn't do much today...you know, for once I can't really say that. I did quite a bit. I actually went outside and picked up the yard. Sticks and other junk. I put my laundry away finally. I cleaned and vacuumed my room. That's pretty productive of me. More than I have been in days. And I wasn't exhausted from it. When I boil it down, today was a good manageable quiet day. And I feel good about it. There was nothing special about it at all, but it just, I don't know. It was just a good day. I'm tired now, but that's my meds kicking in too.
Tomorrow it's start all over with work. Truck day and sit around and do nothing all day. The easiest day of the week. I've got to figure out a way I can do inventory on Saturday instead of going in Monday mornings. Then I wouldn't have to go in until three or four at the latest. There's got to be something I'm overlooking.
My laptop keeps shutting it's Wi-Fi completely off, not even giving me the option to turn it back on. It just vanishes. I haven't found a permanent fix. I tried disabling Fast Boot which is what the most common fix was, and it worked for about 12 hours. The only one that's worked persistently but only for like a few weeks at a time is to shock the battery (there's a pinhole that's actually for that. pop a paperclip in for about forty seconds and it kills your battery). I don't know why this fix works and since I'm too lazy to actually figure out an actual fix, it's what I got to work with.

Last week i relapsed on Percocet
My doctor told me it's certain death
I heard the words that he said but they didn't mean shit to me
I don't know why
All of these tattoos are permanent
Ain't making money i'm serving it
I haven't felt like myself in a couple of years and i think i know why
Hop on this beat and i murder it
Rap money turn you to journalists
I do not care for this bullshit the world in my palm
And i'm ready to die
LUVLY
There's nowhere left for me to go
Something is going off inside my soul
LUVLY
The world is sinking under
I'm losing all control
Something is killing my love
Go go go go go ahead
Take a dive like this
Don't cry
Go ahead take a life like this
Go ahead take a dive like this
My life just like a sci-fi flick
I need five Thai sticks and a Mai Thai
I'm like the wi fi
Im staying high as a bitch till I crash
Nobody actually cares for your ass
Only the ones who aren't there for the bag
Everyone's cap in this bitch
Pour out the gas light a match baby isn't it
LUVLY
There's nowhere left for me to go
Something
Is going off inside my soul
LUVLY
The world is sinking under
I'm losing all control
Something is killing my love
Go go go go go ahead
Take a dive like this
Don't cry
Go ahead take a life like this
