Thinking about writing a DC centered character x reader fic. About who? Who knows. Actually I was hoping to get some suggestions for characters (I know enough about plenty of characters so suggest whoever you want.) Anyway depending on the character or suggestion the type of fic is to be determined but smut is for sure off the table. I will probably write through a gender neutral pov unless stated otherwise.

The next person who puts “Dead in America” and “good” in the same sentence is going to get smacked so hard that they start mooing like a cow. Excuse my rudeness but that comic run was a total let down. Rarely do I have any negative things to post but “Dead in America” stirred something up in me that just made me drop the whole run before it was finished. (Which was hard because I hate doing that and refuse to be a quitter) Like y’all how do we mess up that bad?

Do not even get me started. I’ll give a five page essay on my grievances with this specific run.

Started Creature Commandos and omg it’s actually so good! I will not go into detail in case I spoil it for anyone but I just love Nina and oddly even Circe. (I feel there’s more to her and I also just love her fit.) also I do not trust the princess at all. Anyway it’s an amazing show and I cannot recommend it enough.

I am a ppl pleaser at heart

Anyway my post on DC hot takes got the wrong attention so I will be taking it down. I had expected some fun debate or a respectful exchange of opinions not ppl filling my inbox with rude comments when I tried to respectfully ask for their reasons and possibly debate them.

I understand ppl can be passionate about their opinions and I expected some backlash which I can handle (I’m on the internet I obvi know how to handle rude comments) but not to the extent of me having to delete a post.

Anyway this blog should have a pretty friendly community and even if there are serious posts they are few and far between. I’d prefer to keep my blog free of anything too negative so i will be taking the post down and hopefully everything will return to normal.

I don’t know the full rules when talking about this on here so this is an incredibly toned down and less in depth version than what I want to say. So some words are replaced which might blur the meaning which I apologize for. This rant is about GOT’s handling of sexual violence so be aware of what you are comfortable reading. More under the cut.

This might be me and only me who thinks this but the way the Game of Thrones show handles the treatment of women irks me.

I understand that this a dark show. I also understand this is also set in a time period where women were horribly treated BUT it’s also a show with dragons, giants, and magic so historical accuracy clearly isn’t that important so don’t try to use that argument. Game of Thrones is one of my favorite shows, I was drawn to it thanks to the complex characters (who aren’t always good which I like) and interesting plot but it has it’s faults. The way the writers and anyone involved in making this show handled the sexual assault of women horribly. It is not done with any sympathy or understanding or even with taste but instead with a shallow approach and a need to shock audiences.

Let’s give an example. The Sansa and Ramsay marriage. While I understand that the writers are trying to convey the point that Ramsey is a horrendous person and that Sansa is in a rough situation I think they could have handled it better. Especially since the marriage (which I’m now finding out) never actually happened in the books. So Sansa never actually had to go through that and I’m assuming the writers just threw it in for shock value or even for some sick and twisted joke. The whole situation to me just feels like it wasn’t handled with the intent to build character or convey a serious point but instead to get some gross enjoyment from the suffering of women. We can see this throughout the series not just in this case. Even episode one with Dany and Drogo has a sexual assault scene. I don’t know why there is a need to constantly want to portray a woman getting assaulted and then proceed to never bring it up again. It’s degrading to women in all honesty. Now somehow if they use it as a huge plot point I might have just the slightest understanding but there’s still an issue with that as well because if you need a women to be assaulted to help her character develop you can’t write for crap. The whole handling of sexual violence in this show just feels hollow and I don’t know how or why it has been so normalized by so many fans.

I just hate to see that even in a made up fantasy series women are still seen as a tool to amp up shock value and gross enjoyment.
