earthspark reminds me of rescue bots and RID15 in a way - where they don’t dismiss the hardships of the war or baby-fy pre-existing characters, which I really appreciate! that’s what keeps me watching

Instead, they bring in new naive non-traumatized main characters that never participated in the war, and that really helps to maintain the child-friendly focus.

I can appreciate the different POVs as long as they’re faithful to their true characters!

I think one of the biggest strengths of rescue bots and RID15 is the fact that it took place in the aligned universe. Transformers Prime was entirely canon - and we SAW how rough the war was there. so seeing it censored from an outsiders pov but seeing them still acting the same and KNOWING what they went through - ohhh!!!

Although Earthspark doesn’t have that connection, we can imply they endured similar hardships. based on the flashback animation style it was likely closer to whatever happened in G1.

either way, I’m really enjoying the new concepts they’re bringing forth as well.

- reformed megatron? let’s GO! love to see it for the first time outside the comics :] however, I’m hoping it comes later but I really need them to walk through how/why he reformed. like how did this Happen. just hoping it’ll happen later. (edit: OH and combiner wars!)

- I like how bee isn’t the stereotypical blabbermouth. maybe he USED to be that way but it’s obvious that war has yknow, made him more jaded and responsible.

- decepticons ACT like decepticons. (such a relief compared to RID15! that drove me insane. every transformer that caused trouble was labeled a decepticon when like none of them even knew who megatron was 🙄. At least Swindle in earthspark actually ACTS like swindle)

- I like how the mom was already part of the EDC or Ghost or whatever. we’re so used to seeing humans have to get used to living with transformers but NAHHH her and op and megs & co are already besties. love that! we jumped to the chase! hope I can see some war flashbacks

anyways can’t wait to see more earthspark and I’m glad my TF hyperfixation is back thanks to transformers one :]

I was talking about how ES Prowl was right that the adults were relying too much on these children (but I concede that this is a children's show where the children save the day).

Someone replied to this, saying "well, Jack, the other Prime kids, Spike, and Chip shouldn't have been anywhere near a battlefield, but if those shows got away with it so should ES".

I mean, bold to assume that I don't hold other shows to the same standard. Miko is not my favorite Prime child for a reason. But also! This Earthspark is maybe the only show where the responsible adults actively argued that, actually, shut your face because the children should be involved in the fighting.

In the original G1 cartoon, Spike is the only confirmed mainstay child character until his son Daniel is introduced in season 3. Chip seems to have adult responsibilities and Carly is a college student. The Autobots never relied on their young human companions for fighting though. Spike has occasionally tried firing a Cybertronian gun, but never actually did much in a fight. In general though, G1 humans helped mainly in auxiliary ways, like, lie to Megatron's face that this Autobot in alt mode is actually your car and it's got a bomb attached or figuring out a special device or placing a bomb or gadget. They didn't do much fighting at all. Marissa Faireborn is the exception and she is a full-grown adult who works with the EDC.

In regards to TFA, if I remember, Sari never directly got involved in the fighting. She played the role of a proactive and spunky sidekick in the fights and did tricksy things rather than being relied on as a fighter. At least until it was revealed she also had Cybertronian origins and she magically aged up a few years to a mid-teen body. The Autobots never relied on her to fight in battles. She is also the only child character in the main cast.

As for TFP... There's a reason Miko isn't my favorite child in the show. However, the children had been told multiple times to not get involved in the fighting. The reason the kids have guardians is to protect them from the fighting. Bulkhead just can't tell Miko no and mean it while Wheeljack is not a responsible babysitter. All the same, even when Miko wore the armor, the Autobots did not rely on the children to fight the big battles for them. The adults do all the big fighting.

I don't think Russell fights at all in RiD15, just doing spunky kid sidekick stuff. Rescue Bots was not really a fighting show. There were no humans in Cyberverse.

I think the Japanese shows handle it differently, but I haven't watched enough of them to say for certain. In Super God Masterforce, Hawk/Metalhawk gives the human kids the bracelets to transform and, though he initially says that they should not fight, they eventually do. However, whenever they're involved in fighting the actual Pretenders or the Godmasters, they require saving. Ginrai, the adult with a trucking job, is the one relied upon to save the day.

So yeah! Earthspark is kinda the odd one out here and Prowl is right.

I'm just being a nitpick for RiD15 at this point; I couldnt help but notice that in TFP, Bulkhead didn't know what colledge was but somehow Fracture knew what coledge was.

That got me thinking: What would school be like for Cybertronians?

Wow, that is quite a sharp observation! How the bots understand and speak Earth languages has always astounded me, especially like how Steeljaw breaks out of his stasis cell on Earth and can immediately understand English. And if they can understand English without studying it, why don't they understand all English words? Is it because some concepts like college don't have a direct translation? That would explain Ultra Magnus not knowing what a kilt is for sure. Fracture probably shouldn't know what college is, I think.

But I am baffled by how the Rescue Bots can immediately speak perfect English, but Blades struggles with Swedish as though he were manually studying it...

The academy episode in Transformers: Animated was an awesome episode, almost a taste for us of what school life for Cybertronians would be like. Maybe what you really want to see is them at desks with a teacher teaching a subject (and I do too haha). It would be cute seeing them have mundane struggles like we do. Wouldn't it be fun if a Transformers show started with characters at school, before a war starts and the students have to participate in it? XD

A non-canon in Au epic adventure of the babies getting in a portal like Wildbreak and ending in Cybertron's past so, they can meet their grands because they died a lot of time ago...

SO, if you remember the Life of Rescue bots Au Shenanigans Part 21 and Part 22, all of them had weird dynamics with their sparklings, but that's also a reason why I want to share it, because the kids don't know anything about their grands because their parents never said anything about them and because I want the kids to met them, like

Quickcall meeting Chase's parents and being treated like a cool kid and special is so CUTE, he loves being payed attention and his grandma and grandpa treating him like a king is his new fave hobbie (asian grandpas dynamic)

Baby Kaon (who is actually a MegaSound fanchild by @/errolluck but he's canon in the Au) meting Terminus because he's a proud and careful grandpa and never lets him go and is so loving AJSKKSKSKS Terminus best granpa (and Meg watching them like 🙄)

Hot Shot meeting Heatwave's tutor is like a confident-criminal giving the kid candy and teaching him about his job and is so patient Hot Shot enjoys it even if he doesn't like the job

Soil trying to handle with the fact Boulder's tutors are divorced but both are so caring, yet, his grandma is more rude and prefers extreme sports while his grandpa is the one who disciplines and tells him when something is wrong, is like a second pair of parents

And everything is so loving and cool and cute...

And then we have the twins Rumble and Frenzy meeting the motherfucker asshole of Soundwave's tutor who treats them like a dog and worst

The Predacon triplet watching Shockwave being neglected and ignored

Wildbreak (the RID15 character, but tiny) and Seth ( @/hilarystark Ultra Magnus x Wheeljack fan child) being defended and trying to escape from Jackie's, Break's and Bulk's tutor who doesn't have even a bit of mercy on them (Seth maybe has a broken arm from that situation...)

And no one visited Ultra Magnus and Knock Out's tutors because they doesn't have... well, Knock Out had but he killed his conjunx and is on prison and Knock Out haven't talk to him in... like, forever

Across the Universes

To add to my endless WIPs and stuff I have done but never released...I had a thought. Transformers pairings where both characters have to appear physically in at least five different shows/media and just playing what if on their interactions and how they would differ. One chapter would be a pairing and in separated sections like G1, IDW, TFA, TFP, Cyberverse, etc I would just write maybe fun paragraph stories about them in each respective universe. Just for fun. If it's like MegOp, you know, they appear in pretty much every universe so it would be a shit ton of sections but with varying differences depending on the universe.

Now, many continuities will be separated into pieces because of the difficulty to maintain just one type over the span of multiple different shows. I.e. "Aligned" would be separated into TFP, Rescue Bots, RID15, and WFC/FOC because the characters might be considered the same, they do have altered personalities and it is difficult to merge it. Same thing goes with what is considered "G1." IDW comics have so many variations that it is difficult to simply merge it with G1 so it's technically its own thing. Beast Wars, same deal. Unicron Trilogy is nasty because you have some characters only featured in one show but not the other two so they will be marked as either, Armada, Energon, and Cybertron respectively unless they appear in all three.

Movieverse has a frustrating timeline where it's technically the same universe but ROTB somehow creates a new timeline. It's the most unclear thing ever and to separate it is awful so I'm just merging all seven live action movies into one bundle. You choose which version of designs you wish to see it as.

Now, I will consider Transformers One its own thing regardless of what anyone declares because I refuse to believe it has anything to do with the live action films and it should not. It's alright if it takes cues from the movies, TFP, TFA, and all its little easter eggs in terms of design and story. Here's the issue of this fic overall, I cannot release it until after One comes out so I can add the universe to my data. With it so close, it would be awkward as hell to release one pairing only to have to re-add the fic with a One variant if both characters appear in the film, you know? To skip the frustration, I'm waiting to release it.

But, were I to give another season to a TF show, I actually might choose RID15 Why?

Because I would have loved, to see a Cybertron that was being rebuilt, more of what was happening now with the new council, and Bee Team settling into a life on Earth for good, now able to go visit Cybertron as they wished.

I would have loved to see characters like Smokescreen, Ultra Magnus, Arcee and co return to the Aligned continuity, and since RID15 had explicit crossover from Rescue Bots, well, why not add more of that?

Show the Rescue teams helping rebuild Cybertron, and the like, maybe even more about the human-bot alliances.

After all, Fowler's no doubt still kickin around, so the team has a human liason.

Thank you! And yes I am ok with humans being in transformers, I quite like the idea actually. Just the humans befriending aliens or something alike trope is great to me, very cute, I love the bonding moments, the human teaching the transformer about Earth and vice versa

However, I do not like when the human included.. is a child. Because like..why is a kid being involved? Yes sometimes a kid being there is fine, like Cody Burns in Rescue Bots, amazingly done, but a lot of the time it’s not sadly.

Like in Tfp, yes it may have started out..ok..but it quickly turned into..well..not the best, as in Optimus sending a CHILD to another planet to restore his (Optimus’) memory?? Said child almost getting killed by an Insecticon AND Megatron in the process..like..Optimus why?

Cybertron/Galaxy Force had a similar issue, started good but got worse as the show continued, like Optimus and all the others were very opposed to these kids getting involved, they were really only there to bond with, help teach the bots about Earth, and help locate the omega lock, and they made that VERY clear- As shown in this funny clip

But then everything changed when Coby went to the Speed Planet 😔💔

Or Armada? Worst one by far imo, why are these kids being involved? Y’know how easily they can be squished? ANYWAY- all this to say, humans being involved is great! It’s just kids being there that can be a bit of an issue. Kids can be there, I understand it’s for the younger audience, but don’t treat the CHILD like they’re some huge help and one of the most important ones there when they aren’t, do stuff like they’re there because..idfk one of the bots adopted them, THATS THEIR KID!! THEY WILL PROTECT THEIR KID!!! Like how that was done in Tf Victory from what I can see didn’t know Starsaber had a kid

Or idk, use Rescue Bots, or surprisingly RID15 as reference, the kids aren’t getting involved, but they’re there, friends of the bots and maybe helping them better understand Earth! But not getting involved in a war. They may be defiant at times (Russell) but they still don’t really get involved

Hi, I was a bit confused ( like you want me only list bots, not humans?), especially if you want only the continuities you listed or all of them? Anyway, I'll do all bc as I was thinking about the answer I got some interesting thoughts. So prepare your tea and sit comfortably ~

Generation 1

In G1 cartoon they made it seem like Bumblebee just gets along with everyone. But I can't remember if Bee had someone among bot who we could consider his best friend. This title really went to Spike exclusively and I know you said to list bots only, bear with me here.

This fits into Bumblebee's struggles, because he's weak, but humans weak too so he feel he belong with them more than his own people. And Bumblebee still friends with Spike even after the human grows up and has a family (and the fact its the only time they show passage of time like this with a human character?)! We don't see Bee a lot on later seasons so I like to assume he just hangs out with Spike's family most of the time.

It would be so dope if they actually explored the idea of human mortality and how cybertronians would handle the invertible. But it never happens in canon even in "serious" continuities. And same even in fandom spaces. I only once stumbled upon the fic where Bee gets super anxious because Spike is getting older, really long time ago. Of course I wrote a story about this, but still, I can't be the only one thinking about this. In G1 based comics it's kinda the same thing, except IDW where Bumblebee has NO FRIENDS ( nor bot or human). Like he had some pals in the past, but he lost them all. In IDW2 there is Windblade who was established as Bumblebee's bestie but they way it was written... it was very cold friendship judging by panels I saw. Not a fan. Ah yes, I didn't watched the Netflix version, so idk, but considering how writers decided to deconstruct the character for no reason I can assume he has no friends at all.

Bayverse

I can's really say anything, I watched only first and second movies and again, Bee was bonded with a human. Same with Bee-movie, I know it's not technically bayverse, but sadly, Bee has the same the design and I still can't watch the movie bc of it xD

Animated

This is very clear that Bumblebee bot bestie is Bulkhead. And if both Bumblebee and Bulkhead were written better we would have a really dope character dynamic. Tho their dynamic is fun even as it is ( Bee crawling all over Bulkhead like a spider is Halloween episode cracks me up), but sadly Bee just never develops as a character.

Prime

I can't say anything about because I didn't really watched the show. I started, didn't liked it and dropped it. The entire aligned continuity isnt really for me, so I skipped Rescue Bots and RiD15. Though, I did like "War for Cybertron" game a lot, and maybe I would watch Prime if character designs were from that game. In the game Bee didn't had any besties.

Cyberverse

Here Bumblebee has bonds with few bots. First one is Windblade and I absolutely loved it. Their relationship was amazing and warm and physically tactile, and that's how I started ship them. Then we see Hot Rod and, now deceased, Blurr and later Bumblebee bonds with Cheetor.

This show had so much potential, like the buildup in S1 was nice and well established dynamic between Bumblebee and Windblade, but then it was all thrown out the window. Windblade was sidelined entirely in S2 as Bee hands out with Hot Rod and Cheetor ( as it's the typical all boys gang no girls allowed) after all this demonstration how close those two are in S1?? Meh.

And when Cheetor sacrifices himself? Bee looks sad at this moment, and then moves on like thing happened and it didn't affect him? What is this?? Ugh.

Earthspark

Right it's too early to say, but we can already see that Bee has a very sibling-like bond with Arcee. And from the trailer it looks like Bee is good friends with Breakdown which is interesting. Maybe he was the reason why Bee picked the racer car after his VW Beetle mode? We will see~

I think it's all? There is Shattered Glass too, but I have no idea, cant say anything. I hope it was enough)

So one thing that bothers me is how the rescue bots (and blurr and salvage) don't have altmodes when they arrive on earth. But they had altmodes on Cybertron, at least for some time period???

The only thing it reminds me of is the first bayverse (and beast wars but gimme a minute) movie because those guys were all basically identical before scanning altmodes. And in the aligned continuity, we're shown mecha having Cybertronian design altmodes (ie Megatron, techhhnically the predacons and insecticons) in beast wars, they're pretty much a pile of protoform goop, some metal, and a spark before they unconsciously scan an altmode based on their current surroundings (likely to better blend in, far more like an automatic response to mimic and hide) and we see what happens when that process gets partially interrupted my poor hunny Transmutate.

So... do mecha normally just remove any altmode they previously have once they enter space travel?

the funny thing is is that it shits on Rescue Bots... and Rescue Bots was actually really good. Like, people shit on it for being “family friendly”, but so was RID15 was arguably WAY worse. 

like if they’d had better coordination with TFP, there could've been LOADS of crossover references (or even easy explanations as to why tech from Griffon rock can’t be used on the mainland). 

or maybe in an episode of TFP Optimus just turns into his Dinosaur mode...

So, the way Blades is totally in love with Bumblebee and looks up to him and crushes on him and so obviously just wants to spend every second with him. So what if Bee was like that with Jazz? (source: Jazz's first appearance in RID 15) Maybe not so much now, after all the years fighting together and what not, he still admires him and wants to spend time together, but when they first met, Bee followed Jazz around all the time making heart eyes and wanting to impress him. Now what happens when Blades meets Jazz?
