Im just here, thinking about the beginning of the manga with izuku being rude for example in the sports festival for insulting one of his classmates to create a parallel with katsuki, showing a complicated rivalry thru a similar attitude he would also get quite easily when he needs to defend others vs towards the end where its clear theres a separation between the anger he feels for others’ pain and the rage he has when its katsuki. And its not even about making him less or more angry -when he is pissed off, he is always really… animalistic? He “wants” to act in that kind of way, and we know about the difference because of him not being able to hold back.
Theres anger and pain and rage when shigAFO stabbed and hurt Gran Torino, Aizawa-sensei, and others. He barely is able to hold back. And then Kacchan gets both stabbed AND insulted as a worthless sacrifice?? Thats it, he is a wounded dog.
ppl will say bkdk it’s just another sns and that they would end with girls but have you thought about:
They are different mangas with different authors. They don’t have to end the same way at all -and knowing horikoshi disliked the ending, it makes even less sense.
It’s canon that Katsuki really, really dislikes attention from girls and doesn’t pay them any mind at all, to the point of not having even moments with any that could count as lazy romance. Who tf is he picking?
The popular ships in Japan according to polls when n*ruto was going on were exactly the ones that became canon as far as I know so even if in the west it made little sense for many, they were justified and liked my at least a big part of the Japanese audience.
All of the “you hurt my loved one and now I need to kill you” moments were exclusively with Katsuki being targeted (with this I mean he loses the ability to hold this back. With others he is able to at least maintain some sanity even if it hurts him personally); in n*ruto, as far as I know, there are moments like that with Sas*ke and Hin*ta being the targets making the protagonist lose control. The most similar situation was when Himiko stabbed Ochako in front of him and he was worried about leaving when there’s such an unpredictable character, but it was more about wanting to make sure she is okay. In Katsuki’s case, it always make him more rude and impatient + lose self control when things get too serious, going against his own ideals.
#Hold the fuck up i just realized something#In the manga when he remembers the whole control your heart line#in the panel we see a destroyed city#just like when he looked at it with ochako before the final war#could this be a parallel?#Ochako went there to prioritize others’ safety and remember she “shouldn't” be thinking about himiko#And instead of getting a katsuki panel like with the others chapters before we see destroyed buildings#is he there trying to prioritize his hero duty over his hurt for kacchan paralleling ochako??#like- i sound so fucking crazy but i just realized#im not writing it there bc i feel crazy#if you are reading this pls tell me if im just trying to see things#for a long time i thought that decision of not showing him was intentional just like not putting him with the others when deku’s th#thinking about how shigaraki hurt the people he cares about#And it made sense to show the city#but it being a parallel to togachako who are more upfront about their mutual understanding and feelings??#so that conversation with ochako symbolizes to him his duty as a hero to stop shigaraki remembering he is a human#however a destroyed city is also related to the feeling of a stabbed katsuki#in the way that he really really can’t be thinking about it#when katsuki in the memories ep said he shouldn’t be thinking about sentimental shit -he was right#izuku can’t handle it#in the best case he is able to keep control#in the worst total destruction would spread#unlike katsuki who is able to be all soft and sentimental and win the fight#Izuku can’t. His emotions are way too big for him#he can’t ignore the pain he sees#and he certainly can’t ignore a dying katsuki without needing to just fucking win even if it hurts whoever did it#which is way too risky for everyone#izuku Doesn’t want to cause more pain#he doesn’t want to be a killer he is a savior#so yeah he really needs to directly not think about that sentimental shit in particular if he wants to at least try

i saw this tweet and found it interesting for two reasons. one is that some people base how good cartoon network would be to toh by how it treated su, and despite the fact that su’s treatment by the network was considered poor at the time, now its thought to be exceptionally good in comparison to modern shows.
two is how exactly su got impacted by a limited budget. a common criticism is how characters like connie, peridot, and lapis are left out of missions. but balancing a lot of characters is not only hard but also costly (extra animation, extra voices—it’s been revealed that the show is limited to a set number of characters per episode otherwise they’re over budget). animation mistakes are not uncommon since retakes cost extra. the entire reason the original show got cut short was due to loss of funding!
#i don’t know if pay rates differ per networks#but a.ivi and s.urrashu have said that they needed to work outside of su in order to make sufficient funds#it only makes me wonder what other ways su suffered from a lower budget#that we as the audience never got to see#in the vein of the too-little characters complaint#another part of that is that low-stakes episodes should’ve been abt the main cast instead of the townies#like last one out of beach city and too short to ride vs restaurant wars and kiki’s pizza delivery service#i definitely see that especially since that isn’t budget related#nor would it seem to be network related (even if cn had an ‘episodic episodes’ quota it could still be abt the gems#(another side note: /would/ cn even have a requirement that the show make episodes that can be watched standalone?#this is a question for the people who were around when su was airing#what episodes often got rerun?#was it the townie eps or the lore eps?#for example i heard that su once did a ‘peridot event’ where they just reran peridot episodes#which had eps that skip around in the show#did they even care about airing the story so that it made sense anyways?#id get it if the low stakes townie episodes were the ones getting rerun))#but i have such a boring view on that which is i think it’s simply because the creators like townie eps#like in interviews r.ebecca s.ugar has said she’s the type to be really invested in background characters#answers in interviews have been crafted in ways to hide what’s really going on though tbf#prime example of this is rebecca and ian saying the wedding being interrupted was meant to follow the common trope#when later in the art book they said that it was bc cn rejected the ep bc it ‘wasn’t interesting enough’#both could simultaneously be true! it’s a psychology thing though where people make up nice-sounding explanations behind what they create#in retrospect because they want it to be thought out in such a nice way they believe in it#the bigger problem is that not matter how many episodes there are of them#it can be hard for ppl to be invested in the townies the same way they are invested in the main cast#i’m sure that a million writers have made surefire advice on how to get an audience to care about characters#but off the top of my head i think it’s because 1. most don’t have strong motivations to get truly invested in#(exception is ronaldo but people find him too annoying to care about him)#okay i had more points and explanations but i hit the tag limit and idk if anyone is actually reading this so bye

#kingdom hearts dream drop distance#khddd#the world that never was#scenery#my gif#i really love how sora's side of this world is dark and eerie and fully leans into how dreams can distort and twist reality#the city looks mostly normal at first aside from the ghostly fog that seeps down from buildings and drifts along the floor and rises up#but as you keep going the ground beneath you is no longer a street but rather the faces of more buildings that stretch over an abyss#it's no longer the sprawling city you first arrived in but instead an uncanny one way path towards your destination#the buildings now twist and contort and are crooked and grow out of the ground in all kinds of ways that make no logical sense#it's the first time that a sleeping world looks easily distinguishable from the real world. it looks wrong. like a nightmare#meanwhile riku's half contrasts heavily by appearing to be fairly normal#the interior of the real castle never made any practical sense so nothing here feels too out of place compared to how it usually looks#it shows how much more in control riku is in comparison to how sora is losing his grip on reality as he descends further into their trap#cool stuff! love me some environmental storytelling#also i finished giffing every world in this game yippee i'm done (is covered head to toe in blood)

god im just thinking abt how. merlin is always saying that before he came to camelot he thought he was cursed and he hated his magic because he thought it made him a monster but it was also all he had. and then him telling lancelot in s4 that since he found the purpose of his magic (protecting arthur) he doesn't feel that way anymore. sigh. the way out is just another cage!!!

Just watched Nimona
The fact this movie never got a theater release because of Blue Sky's closure and Disney deciding to nix it once acquired will forever break my heart holy shit.
Like up front it is BEAUTIFULLY animated, the writing is tight as hell, the story is genuinely moving and amazing. By that alone it deserved to be in theaters.

one misconception i've seen abt 2k3 raph's character quite a few times is that he dislikes the nickname raphie. he's called raphie by mikey and donnie throughout the series and casey at least once, and he never responds negatively to the nickname itself nor is it even Implied by him or any other characters he feels any sort of negative way abt it. he also calls Himself raphie ("it's not nice to invade mr raphie's neighborhood") in space invaders part 1. like the mischaracterization's coming from Inside the house.

now that i'm playing dragon age: veilguard i understand hbomberguy so much better. think i could probably do a 3.5 hours long video called "dragon age: the veilguard is FINE and here's why"
#the writing in dragon age has Always been a bit clunky it's part of the charm#but yes there are sections in DAV that made me go “oh nooo”#but no it isn't as bad as people say#the mechanics are fun idc. it's bad that my new laptop can run all of BG3 fine but becomes laggy as hell in any city location in DAV tho#companions r generally charming and they're all professionals so it makes sense they're less prone to big fights than say DAO morrigan#but yes i do miss having a bit more tension in the party sometimes#the character creator is great for dudes but yea it would probably b cool if it were possible to have curvier bodies for those who want tha#but no it isn't literally impossible to make good-looking rooks. it's quite easy actually#and like yeah you can't have wildly out there body types but it's pretty cool that you can be a geralt type a twink or chubby as a dude#(i play male characters and have only done the female cc once for a custom f!inquisitor so i have more experience w that one)#the qunari also look. fine? the antaam don't look too soft or anything so far#the majority of complaints against this game were stupid and not rooted in anything real#BUT!!! i don't love it#solas continues to be a highlight#lucanis is great so far and i love neve#neve's voice acting is amazing#she manages to make some very disappointing lines sound good#but..... i can't pretend the writing *isn't* awkward in places#d'meta's crossing stands out to me as a pretty bad case of overly direct storytelling#(spoilers) talking to the mayor was deeply disappointing! he just TOLD rook what he did and why. it felt so anticlimactic#especially bc the imagery in the village was striking and grotesque#but there didn't feel like there was any payoff#other sections have been great#but DAV just feels like it completely lacks subtlety at times#the other DA games haven't always been masters of show dont tell but this section felt like a first draft#like someone was working out the story and didn't have time to polish the script at all before the voice actors were called in#idk it really stands out to me as bad#also yeah it's noticeable that you don't really get to do evil things. at least not yet

is it so weird that i just have literally no interest in any of the wad stuff?? i love dan but i have always felt completely apathetic to wad lmao. i can’t quite pinpoint why.
no? i guess, not. and he is not very good at selling it to people like you. he doesn't say anything about the show that could spike some interest.
personally, i'm more interested in the tour and the logistics around the shows than in wad itself. like, the performance isn't something unique that we've never seen before. it's just Dan talking to us from the stage. and singing, that part is iconic. but other than that... it's great that he could put his thoughts on world problems and his problems in a script and talk to us face to face. but it could be a video.
but touring is so fucking fun. you know what i mean? meeting people irl and seeing their reaction is priceless. also, all this work behind the scenes is what drives me since 2022.

#this is such a niche gripe i guess idk its why it's in the tags#but i really get so annoyed by how a lot of this fandom acts like they know everything about her especially like where she goes#and what she does in her free time because they think they KNOW about everything but#all you know is what she chooses to show you like specifically paps like...... she calls them. all celebs do. 99.999999% of the time#these days it's how that industry works which i KNOW for a fact but like don't take my word for it if you don't believe me fine#but it's how it is and i can tell you that from professional experience but also like#the amount of friends and people i know who've seen her places all over the city for YEARS now#and there are no pap photos of her in those places nor did anyone know she went to that building/restaurant/bar/event#there are a feeeeeew places in the city which are celeb hotspots and the paps might skulk around there but that's cuz#they are known spots for that and waiters and staff tip them off for profit shares#like i know someone who saw her literally last night at a restaurant#there are no photos of her there and no paps outside#like if you think she doesn't leave the house or go somewhere without you knowing cuz you think she's papped everywhere...#thats just simply not true lol couldn't be FURTHER from true#she goes so many places and does so many things that you just don't know about. it's VERY easy to live a private life in the city#EVEN THIS WEEK she's gone more places than you've seen her getting papped at cuz i know people who've seen her!#i can't tell you the amount of famous people i've come across in these situations and the press and social media were none the wiser#people i've sat next to at a crowded brunch counter or people walking their dog or taking their kid for a bike ride like.... yk how lumiere and noir got "reincarnated" at the end of kira kira pretty cure? what are ur thoughts on that
mmmm it's one of those things where i don't hate it but i don't love it either. like i'm 100% fine with it for lumiere because she deserves the world and a second chance but noir getting off basically scot-free kinda annoys me (i promise i'm not one of those "oh my god the villain has to be horribly punished" people. i like redemption arcs! i love second chances! but i think they need buildup!) when he barely existed in the show itself. if you're gonna give him a happy ending i require an actual battle with him and lumiere and noir being allowed to get to the root of their issues instead of yelling at each other and then getting the precure equivalent of killed off a minute later. but overall things could be worse so eh

#i finished binging the she-ra show#and it was fine? this is what people are so angry about?#i think catra's redemption was well setup and made sense#and while i still like the catra adora romance i wish there was like... more of it#here are some gripes i have tho#1) glimmer's decision at the end of s4 feels like it has no consequences#like for starters i'm annoyed that the issue ended being incredibly black or white and it zapped out the nuance of the respective decisions#but she's like alright i was completely wrong and after bow forgives her it's like... ok surely more people would have Opinions about this?#but no they don't. missed opportunity#but the problem in shows like these (idk if it's different outside western animation) is that there's no budget to deal with--#--cities and kingdoms having people. which makes them feel like shells that have little substance beyond being a narrative device#and yes everything in a show/piece of media IS a narrative device but you know. you gotta hide that. that's the beauty of media#but like... there's a universe where glimmer's subjects saw the consequences of her actions and rose against her. that woulda been fun!#2) adora's conflict in the finale of ohhh i have to Fulfill my Destiny(TM) comes so out of nowhere. esp when she had been against the--#--whole destiny angle for the previous four seasons. suddenly she's burdened with it and it's clear that it's a way to isolate adora#but it's SO sloppily done and there's no buildup to it#and 3) woulda like if they did more with the first ones. there's a lot of potential there and maybe a more natural way of isolate adora#like have her have this crisis of 'there's no one here who can fully understand me' and i thought that was what they'd do with the--#--cat creature they introduce in S5? but just ends up being catra's magic animal sidekick#idk there was a lot there to investigate. bow's dad could've been a good resource to make that happen too#uhhh that's it mostly?#at the end of the day this kind of western animated shows feel so pandering to kids. very formulaic and simple#tho i do respect that the show followed through the worst outcome in almost every occasion#(that's why catra compells me.... talk about a character who makes the worst decision at every point. she's just like me fr fr)#but yeah it was cute#i also like how bisexual the show felt at all times (except the ending where they were like ok monogamy is the goal but eh)#cute show. fun characters. easy 7/10#catradora good#not great but eh#no show can give me compelling couples to obsess over (except for skam españa i guess)

cue screaming abt legends Z-A
#I’m so happy they went for kalos instead of unova#like I love unova. I love unova. but I wasn’t sure what they’d do with it that would feel right#also I was 100% expecting johto either let’s go johto or legends celebi bc SO MUCH johto in that presents. THE UNOWN. and raikou and silver#but man kalos!!!! I rlly love the gen vi pokemon and it’ll be so cool to see what they do with a different version of the region#I’m expecting a kinda time travel element honestly? it seemed to go between futuristic + past stuff a BUNCH#with the redevelopment plan and the shiny light city#+ the two versions of the map it shows. those are Definitely 2 versions and one of them is past + more similar to the one we know#and one is updated but that could just be updating for switch#but ALSO Z-A. like okay AZ for a start is coming back but that’s very much a going backwards indication right#man my friend got to watch in real time as I went through the plot of the kalos games and remembered AZ and have everything click into place#it took me way too long to click that it was kalos in the trailer like it took me until talonflame to be like wait. and then PRISM TOWER#but god yeah I’m just like. I wanna know where they’re going with this bc I DOUBT it’s war era#it definitely COULD be but it would feel like a lot yknow for lumiose to be so similar that long ago#it’s not like 3000 years is a reasonable number in the first place anyway pokemon is weird#rlly rlly hoping there is the full region and that it’s made to feel less empty than paldea and hisui#if they’re going for an open world again which I feel like they will#I saw someone say they’re setting the whole thing in lumiose which would be a CHOICE. it’d be very different for sure#I don’t wanna say I wouldn’t like that but it would be a completely new kinda pokemon game. which would fit the legends idea. who knows#also wanna know what’s up with that logo bc I don’t recognise it. most similar is the aether foundation but that’s not close#even if it would make sense for aether to be around here (and I rlly hope they are)#okay wait so prism tower existing means it HAS to be future right bc clement designed it right? unless he redesigned it or smth#also I am excited abt megas coming back. I do like them they’re easily my favourite of the gimmicks#and I hope this means they’ll be sticking around again near future even though it’d be easy for them to drop them after this legends game#I can see them using lumiose or an otherwise limited setting as a way to stop it being a traditional game bc it’s proooobably not gonna be#like. go get gym badges yknow#yeah I’m rlly excited I can’t wait to see what they do with zygarde and where they’re going with this#pokemon#my money is still on time travel going backwards#luke.txt#plza
