#And if so. Do they have some other plan for Phil to get an elytra?

Heyo, I'm not sure if you would want to. But if you ever wanted to write a sequel? to your nightmare hermit craft tommy. I would be so down. Your work is amazing! 🐌
Anonymous asked:
The day Dream and the rest of the server find out about Tommy with the hermits, I can see dream (and possibly others) going there to “collect” Tommy thinking no one will put up a fight, only to have all the hermits protecting Tommy in there own ways with Xisuma at the front being the badass admin that he his, teaching dream a proper lesson.
-------
Tommy, his best friend, his brother, and some of the hermits spend weeks planning out how they're going to save Dream from the dreamon possessing him. Unfortunately, none of that matters in the end.
Tommy gets a message on his communicator. It's Technoblade.
<Technoblade> dream figured out you're alive and forced tubbo to tell him your location. he's invading hermitcraft TODAY.
<Technoblade> he's bringing george, sapnap, bad, ant, phil, ranboo, quackity, and fundy. i'll be there but i don't know how much i can do to stop them.
Techno won't answer any of Tommy's messages, won't pick up the phone. Fuck. On the verge of hyperventilation, Tommy takes off into the sky with the elytra that he only ever glides with, and spams rockets as fast as he can because fuck his stupid hangup with fireworks and the trauma behind them, he needs to see Xisuma now.
The admin is busy making another tower for his base, but drops everything when Tommy explains, in gasping breaths, the imminent danger. Xisuma teleports every player to the town hall, then takes off to remove all valuable items from the spawn area he created before anyone gets the chance to ask him what the teleport was for.
Tommy takes charge with help from the hermits that are more experienced in leading. He knows exactly what the opposition will be bringing, how many they'll be facing, the tactics they'll use.
Bdubs sets up beds in the town hall for everyone to set their spawns, while Doc rigs the place with every nasty trick he can think of. After working on his Target minigames for so long, Cub knows which hermits are the best with a bow. He forms a group and they strategically perch in the HEP tower. The bookstore becomes free to everyone who doesn’t have maxed-out gear, and Etho sweeps in behind them all, methodically looting every store that has anything the enemy could possibly get a benefit out of if they stole it. Stress sets up a makeshift potions lab on the front lawn. Cleo fetches her everything she needs.
Meanwhile, Ren loots his Quadrachopper for apples, then hands them off to Iskall to make stacks upon stacks of golden apples. Jevin darts off, but shortly returns with several shulker boxes of ender pearls. Each hermit has at least two totems of undying courtesy of Impulse.
This is what these people can do with less than a day to prepare, Tommy wonders. There’s enough supplies here to have taken back L’Manberg three times over, before it blew up. Still, these are the people that spar to three hearts instead of to the death. They shy away from making others suffer. Their calluses are born of concrete and stone, pickaxes and shovels. Dream’s calluses are born of blood.
The time comes. Stress packs up her brewing stands, places them inside the town hall on any space that isn’t a bed so she can keep supplying the fighters. Tango lets his lava bucket warm his shaking hands. Doc clutches his trident, resolute in his role of protector; no enemy will breach the town hall so long as he is there.
Messages of intruders joining the server flood the chat. Instant chaos. Three withers spawn all at once, and Grian sets about aggro-ing all three of them so he can dogfight them in the sky. Bad, George, and Ant head straight for the town hall. It’s the most important building on the island, as well as the most spacious, so the hunters correctly guess that town hall is the hermits’ base of operations. The three are met by Iskall, who stalls them long enough for Tango and Impulse to show up. Their fight pushes down the street to the steps of the town hall, so Doc joins in the fray. It’s an evenly matched fight.
Sapnap makes his way to the town hall as well, in order to support his fellow hunters, but Keralis cuts him off. In true Keralis fashion, the man taunts Sapnap until Sapnap completely loses sight of what he was meant to do, and instead chases Keralis, who narrowly evades him at every turn.
False engages a footsoldier-- Quackity-- in a battle that is tooth and nail. She nearly loses her arm to Quackity’s axe when Fundy makes the battle a two-on-one, but Fundy nearly loses his entire head when Techno roars triumphantly and swings his Orphan Obliterator sword at him with both hands. Quackity screams, fuelled not by his lungs but by his blinding hot rage at the betrayal. The battle is on.
It’s not all battles, though. Several hermits rain arrows down upon their enemies from the rooftops; meanwhile, Dream himself stalks through the streets under the effect of an invisibility potion, setting off TNT and End crystals indiscriminately. He isn’t the only invisible person, though-- Etho goes completely without armor, sabotaging anyone he can and collecting another invisibility potion on the way out of town hall each time he dies and respawns. Mumbo, eager for a chance to help, runs damage control as best as he can by putting out fires while Wels watches his back. Ren and Cleo run elytra interference; xB does the same from the ocean with a riptide trident.
Once Ant is down, Impulse feels safe in allowing Doc, Tango, and Iskall to take on George and Bad without him. Impulse peels off from the group to confront the nervous-looking man edging his way closer and closer to the town hall. The closer he gets, the more his heart drops into his stomach. Tommy’d described this Ranboo guy, but he’d neglected to mention that Ranboo was not a fucking adult. Impulse doesn’t think he can do this. He can’t inflict this level of violence on a kid, for all that Ranboo is an older teen.
Ranboo’s too good at fighting-- another child soldier, Impulse’s mind whispers-- for Impulse to be able to afford to be kind, but Impulse does anyway and Ranboo kills him. Stress gasps when he respawns, but steadfastly gives him everything he needs to go back out into the fray. His hands shake. This had better end soon, one way or another.

Dream SMP Recap (December 9/2020)
Well...we finally got the uh...the beach episode. Yay. Definitely what we wanted, thank you Dream and Tommy.
In other news, Sapnap may have just angered the Crimson and that doesn’t seem like a good thing. Also, Phil and Techno continue to develop the retirement home!
---
- Techno does some sneaking around. He and Phil get some baby turtles together and work on his retirement home base, starting a bee farm.
- Tubbo works on the hole in the ocean some more. He dies and loses the compass...
- Techno says his chat are the voices in his head telling him to be violent.
- Phil says he was told the party was invite only, and he didn’t receive an invite, so he didn’t go. Tubbo didn’t get one either. It seems like no one did.
- Nobody shows up.
- Dream shows up. Tommy drops his armor without prompting, but Dream lets him keep it.
- Tommy asks Dream for his pickaxe. Dream gives it to him and Tommy heads into the Nether. He breaks the path. Dream tells Tommy about Tubbo losing the compass.
- Angry, Tommy goes to the edge and almost throws the compass into the lava ocean. Dream convinces him not to. Tommy goes to the Nether Hub, and Dream says he can see the Christmas tree for a few seconds if he wants, but Tommy refuses.
- They return to Logsted and Dream hands Tommy his riptide trident to try out, so that Tommy can fly through the water.
- Some red wool shows up on Tommy’s hot girlfriend so he gets rid of her and they build a new one.
- Tommy and Dream invent a smartphone. Dream also now has a guest tent that he can stay in. He says he might stay at Logsted and live there instead.
- They talk about kpop for a bit. Dream is still canonically a stripper.
- It starts thundering and Tommy gets a zombie head. Dream lets Tommy keep his throwing trident as a party gift.
- Before Dream leaves, Tommy asks him what he’s supposed to do now. Dream suggests Tommy start building Logsted into an empire, so that his friends will respect him for his power again.
- Sapnap continues work on El Rapids. He gets into a flower dispute with HBomb and then they play Fortnite together.
- Sam continues work on the Vault and confronts Bad about the Crimson: the Blood Vines have reached the red concrete of the Targay and have started to turn it white, sucking the color out of it. They head to the Crimson Egg - Sam points out that the face has turned completely white, and Bad says he thinks it’s an improvement because it looks more like Quackity.
- Sapnap joins. He comes to the Crimson and suggests they “pull a Wilbur” and *in British accent* “blow this motherfucker to high hell.”
- Sapnap cracks the egg a bit with TNT and Bad tells Sam to sacrifice himself to the Crimson. Sam and Sapnap get Holy Water and try to cleanse it. Bad shows them that Sapnap angered it - the ground around the egg has turned to magma blocks. Bad plants a seed at El Rapids.
- Sam returns to the Badlands. Skeppy asks him for help with mining away the Blood Vines in the mansion.
- Sam continues working as Bad and Puffy examine around.
- Later, Bad builds Tommy a statue of Tubbo at Logstedshire.
“He is gonna love it! Or hate it -- one of the two” - Bad
---
Upcoming Events:
- Karl will tour Pokimane around sometime
Potentially scrapped/unsure:
- Elytra Challenge
- Bad and Skeppy’s plan to burn the disc

Through Fire and Ice Chapter 8
(Technoblade x Reader)
Chapter 8
<Prev Chapter | Next Chapter>
~~~~~~
Techno and Ranboo were hard at work on the mine to the library in the stronghold. It had been two weeks since you had requested Techno to come help you out of your panic. When the two of you talked more on the subject, you were careful with your words. He could tell you weren’t trying to offend him when it came to Phil, but Techno picked up on your fear of Philza almost immediately. He wanted you to be comfortable around Phil, but that was obviously going to need some time.
Even so, when Phil expressed that he wanted to apologize formally, Techno had shaken his head, saying it wasn’t the right time yet. Techno didn’t need to say anything else for Phil to get it. Though he still had a sad look in his eyes. The both of them had seen wars, and what they do to people. They had seen what can throw those people over the edge, and sometimes it wasn’t the war, but the aftermath when the war was branded into their minds. They wouldn’t push you, not until you were ready.
Ranboo had a satchel attached to his side, and every once in a while, Techno would watch him fiddle with it when the bag had gotten in his way. Raising his eyebrow, Techno said nothing, only kept swinging away with his pickaxe. He listened to Ranboo talk, easily throwing his thoughts in here and there. Ranboo was extremely easy to get along with. For that, Techno was grateful.
“Let me just check our coords.” Ranboo pulled the flap of the satchel up searching around the bag. The thing that caught Techno’s attention was the rough texture of the black egg sitting inside the satchel.
“Uhhhh, Ranboo?” Techno set the end of the pickaxe down and let some of his weight rest on the handle. “Why are you carrying the egg around?” Ranboo stopped, he nervously grinned, gauging Techno’s reaction.
“Well, um… You see…” Ranboo fumbled over his words. “This egg,” he hesitated, “likes to follow me?” The piglin hybrid cocked his head to the side, his golden eyes showing confusion.
“Alright, I believe it.” Techno used the back of his hand to wipe the sweat beading on his forehead away. “You’re always finding out something weird about yourself, so this isn’t really that surprising.” Ranboo’s tail swished behind him, and he visibly relaxed.
“Wanna see?” Ranboo asked looking eager. “I haven’t been able to show Phil yet, he’s been too busy.”
Techno nodded, his eyes watching as Ranboo placed the egg down on the ground and went to walk away from the egg. It didn’t take too long before the sound of an enderman teleporting ripped its way through the strip mine, echoing off the walls. There sitting before Ranboo was the egg. Ranboo’s eyes twinkled as he looked back toward Techno. He carefully picked the egg up from the ground, stowing it back into his satchel. The action made Techno chuckle.
“Ranboo, you remind me of one of those parents who carries their baby in a harness strapped to their chest.” Techno snickered.
“What can I say, parenthood has snuck up on me.” Ranboo laughed with Techno. It wasn’t too long before they were back at work on the tunnel. They weren’t even halfway to the strong hold. It was going to take a while before they were going to be there. Especially since Phil wanted the library under wraps. They didn’t need anyone trying to sabotage anything.
Techno let his mind wander back to you, the way you felt in his arms, your scent. Everything about you was alluring to him and he couldn’t understand it. But… He also saw the way you looked at Dream, he heard your giggles to Dreams jokes. He could pretend he didn’t see the light touches the two of you would share. He set his jaw, putting more into his swings of his pickaxe. This had to be some cruel joke on him.
He rarely liked the company of others, always telling himself to be more social when people were around. Some even snubbed him when he tried. There were a few people that were good to him, he couldn’t deny that. He was fine being alone.
Techno still lost in his thoughts, kept going, hitting harder and harder with his pickaxe. Ranboo was now looking over at him curiously, the sight making him worry for Techno. He didn’t know how to even approach it. Techno kept mining forward, his breathing becoming labored. He only stopped when his pickaxe had broken, crumbling in his hands. He stood there for just a second heavily breathing, his hands clenched. Why was he so tense?
“You alright, Tech?” Ranboo leaned in beside Techno. Techno wiped the sweat from his face, his mind flashing to you, your face twisted like the others when they saw him. He hated it. If Dream had his way that’s how it would be. Maybe it was time to put his violent ways to rest? The voices be damned. He didn’t want you to see him as a monster. There was no need to fight anymore, he wanted to settle down.
--
Phil grinned at his invention for the ever-growing residential area of The Burrow. His arm was all healed up, after many persuaded him to take a health potion from the doctor. This left him able to do his projects. He had installed multiple elevators so that the people building their houses up high could easily reach ground level. His hands rested on his hips triumphantly as he watched some children playing with the elevators, with their parents watching. Phil tested his invention out one last time, going to the very top of the cavern that was eye level with some of the glowstone hanging down. His elytra hung from his shoulders like a cape.
This was something that he had been wanting to do for a while. He climbed over the railing of the landing that led into people’s homes.
He allowed himself to look at the ground, his hands grasping the railing. It was a long way down but having flown across a void this was nothing to him. He let himself fall forward, feeling his fingers slip away from the railing, he fell, and he glided through the cavern toward the beacon on the other end. The wind on his face, the excitement in his chest, his emotions were heightened. He let out a triumphant laugh, as the structures around him started whizzing by. People were cheering for him as he zipped past them.
When he had gotten to the beacon, he let his feet touch down, the adrenaline still pumping. What he wouldn’t give to find a gigantic cave and fly through it. This cavern was only a taste of it. But cavern’s like that were rare. His eyes scanned the area of people busy at work.
His eyes landed on the newest addition of the cave; a hospital carved into the wall right next to where the old med bay had been just two weeks prior. Wilbur was put in charge of the building plans for this, and it turned out beautiful. It was mostly made of quartz from the nether, and it was nicely accentuated with bricks. The inside was very nice as well, with plenty of room for everyone who needed care. A voice broke him out of his thoughts.
“Ey Philza! Big man!” Schlatt approached Phil. “How ya been?” The goat hybrid stopped a few feet away from him. He was acting like he hadn’t called Phil out two weeks ago. “I had something I wanted to talk to ya about.” Phil sighed in irritation.
Before two weeks ago he hadn’t minded Schlatt, now he was just a pain, because people were still treating Phil as a traitor, and those that spewed that hate usually expressed how they wanted Schlatt as the head of The Burrow. Phil would gladly step down, but he never received any official answer from Schlatt. Phil didn’t want the stress, but he was thrust upon this role, he would take the role until someone else wanted to step in. He kind of hoped it would be Schlatt.
“So,” Schlatt grinned at Phil. “I’ve been noticing people’s morale around here is plummeting and I am here to talk business.” He clapped his hands together. “So… I propose, a sort of… arena.” He stood up straight his arms fall behind his back. “We need some sort of entertainment, so why not let people beat the shit out of other people for the amusement of others.” Phil gave him a dead pan look.
“An… Arena?” Phil sighed. “I do have my concerns Schlatt,” Phil looked at Schlatt uneasily.
“Oh, I know you do, Phil. That’s why I’m here to tell you… That there will be rules, to abide by, legal forms and all that.” He waved his hand at the mention of the legalities. “This could really be the start we need for the economy.” Schlatt’s goat eyes peered down at Phil almost expectantly.
“Economy?” Phil felt his face twist up in confusion. “What are you on about Schlatt?”
“Well, you see Philza. I’m glad you asked because I have a shiny new currency, just ready to be used.” He fished around his pocket, pulling a gold coin engraved with an s out. “Introducing, the Schlatt coin!” He gave Phil a huge smile. Phil quirked up an eyebrow at him.
“Sounds like a waste of gold mate.” Phil crossed his arms and shrugged. “Emeralds are a good currency to use.” Phil’s words caused Schlatt’s smile to falter. Phil inwardly sighed, would he really give this man leadership if he asked for it? Maybe… But he was scared that Schlatt would use up resources for meaningless things like the Schlatt coin. “I’ll tell you what Schlatt, you can run your arena. You can allow gambling, you can sell Schlatt coins for gambling purposes, but outside your arena they are worthless.”
“So, what you’re sayin’ is my Schlatt coins are nothing more than poker chips.” Schlatt gave a grimace pocketing his coin.
“Take the deal or not. Emeralds have higher value than gold.” Schlatt pondered over his words. “Not to mention it wouldn’t be hard to fake a Schlatt coin. There’s so much gold in the nether.” Schlatt rubbed his chin, pondering.
“Alright Phil, you do have some good points. This might also allow me to expand into other business ventures.” Schlatt had his smile back on. “Did you know I always wanted to be a landlord?” Phil shook his head. The conversation went on, about Schlatt’s wants in life. This conversation revealed more of Schlatt as a person, than of the businessman. Schlatt was about to turn and walk away when he stopped and faced toward Phil once more. “Ey, tell Technoblade, that if he wants to come fight in The Pit, I would be more than happy to make some money off of him.” With that he chuckled and walked away.
Phil let out a sigh of relief. What an… Odd conversation. He couldn’t deny the people needed somewhere to let their frustrations out, whether it was actually fighting in the pit or gambling their money away. Having an economy would hopefully serve this place well. Services couldn’t be free forever, and trading when there was already lack of resources was proving hard.
Phil started walking toward the new hospital to check on everything. He had a lot to think about, and hopefully this was a step in the right direction for everyone here.
--
You had earned yourself a good gig working for Niki. She gave you a place to sleep, and she fed you well, in order for your services. This was the least you could do for her. You did not want to make someone feel as if you were using them. You wanted to give back. The last two weeks you had healed nicely, due to a health potion Niki had scrounged up for you. You were running deliveries out to people; they were mostly deliveries of rations to everyone around The Burrow. Techno enjoyed walking with you on your deliveries every night.
For whatever reason Techno was late today, he mentioned something about mining earlier. You shrugged it off when you didn’t see him waiting for you at Niki’s door. Making your way to the small cart that Dream had made for you, you start loading it up with the boxes of food Niki had prepared. You lingered for a second, your eyes scanning the area for Techno. Disappointment set in when you didn’t see your friend, biting the inside of your cheek you sigh. You really enjoyed walking with him.
“Want some help tonight?” You recognized Dream’s voice; he had approached you while you were checking the wheels on the cart. A smile pulled at your lips at the sight of him.
“Sure, thanks Dream.” Well at least you had a friend with you during tonight’s delivery run. “I appreciate it!”
“Heh,” Dream chuckled, “It’s not a problem at all. You shouldn’t be pulling carts by yourself anyway.” His fingers lightly grazed your cheek. “How are you feeling?” His voice soothed your soul.
“I’m alright,” You subconsciously leaned into his touch, feeling your heart flutter. “It feels good to be doing things again.” You let out a sigh of content. This cave was beautiful in comparison to the unfinished room you currently slept in. Techno was slowly but surely working to add a second story to the bakery, and to finish off what needed to be done in the main bakery. The second story would serve as Niki’s home.
“I bet,” Dream hummed, “I’m just glad you’re okay.” The two of you talked, as you started your route. People were starting to get used to seeing you, and you pretended not to notice how they would look at Techno when he towered over them. You could smell their fear, you wished they could see the being that Techno was to you. It was a different story when Dream was with you. People greeted you more as well as Dream, people didn’t act scared of Dream like they did with Techno. The thought made you sad.
You and Dream had just gotten done with the residential part of your route, on your way back to the bakery to collect more food from Niki. Your eyes looked around at everyone’s houses most of them were in the walls of the cave, but some were log cabins adorning the makeshift streets. What caught your attention, was a blank cave wall, ready to be mined out and built in. You stopped and looked at the wall.
“You want a house of your own?” Dream asked as he peered back at you when you stopped. You bit your lip and nodded. Having your own space would be amazing. “We can do that for you.” Dream slapped a hand on your shoulder, pulling you close, you could feel the heat from his body. “Command me to move the world, and I will do it for you.” You could see his smile behind his mask.
“Cheesy.” You let out a laugh. He laughed with you, his grip tightening on your shoulder.
“I know you like it.” He teased, “But seriously, Sapnap and I can help you with your house. I’d say George too… But… I can almost guarantee that he’ll be off sleeping somewhere.”
“Well at least you know your friend well enough,” You giggled. Dream sighed happily at your laughter. He let go of your shoulder, and you found yourself missing his touch. He returned to his earlier position pulling the cart.
“We should get back and do the rest of the route.” You could hear the smile in his voice, and you nodded walking by his side. Your chest felt warm having him by your side. You hadn’t felt anything like this in a very long time. You dared to let your hand pull the cart with him, he only chuckled and you felt the weight of his hand on yours the rest of the trip back to Niki’s bakery.
You still missed Techno, but you had failed to see him when you were immersed in conversation with Dream. Techno saw Dream’s hand on yours and he saw how happy you were talking with him; he couldn’t bring himself to do or say anything. He just stumbled back and gained his composure, his eyes flicked from you to Dream. He couldn’t ignore your smile, the way you laughed. He shook his head and headed back to Phil’s house.
Maybe you were better off with Dream.
I'll be making this into a long fic, but for now I chose to keep it short. Hermitcraft x Dream SMP crossover
Title: button
Grian sat down at the oak wood table, brow furrowed. Another day, another failed attempt to reconnect to Hermitcraft. The strange glitch that had caused the border to fall in the first place must have been repaired, for the world border was back up and running. His communicator didn’t work outside of his home server, and Phil’s crows (who insisted on following the man everywhere, and who Phil had put up to the task of flying between the severs, trying to gather intel on the border glitch and if people were trying to find him) haven’t delivered any news.
The builder glanced out the window as the sun set over the horizon. Past that was Hermitcraft. His home. What was Mumbo doing? Scar? Iskall? Xisuma? How was the war progressing without him? Did anyone notice his absence? No, Grian, don’t get sad. Happy thoughts only...Happy thoughts.
“Grain!”
Torn away from his thoughts, Grian looked up to see Philza, his dark grey wings fluffed up in distress. “Wil’s sent a letter.” The avian said, holding up a piece of paper.
“Well, that’s good!” Phil had been under extreme stress these past couple of days since Wilbur hadn’t sent a letter in weeks and the past few he had sent were...concerning, to say the least. “What’s it say?”
Another letter should have been a relief, but from the look on Phil’s face, Grian concluded that this letter was everything except relief.
“It’s just a date, time, and coordinates. November 16th, noon, with a set of coords in L’Manberg…” Phil’s voice trailed off as his dark emerald eyes scanned the page, over and over, as if he were looking for more writing than just a simple date.
“That’s tomorrow, innit?” Grian questioned, trying to distract the man from his distress. That’s how Grian ignored his. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts. “I mean, you’ll be able to see your sons, check up on Wil?”
“Something doesn’t feel right about this, Grain.” Even after all this time together, Phil still called him Grain. Grian stifled a laugh, as it wasn’t the appropriate time to giggle. “His last few letters concerned me. He mentioned something in his last one about 11 and a half stacks of TNT.” Phil looked Grian dead in the eye and whispered, “Grain, I think Wilbur is going to blow L’Manberg!”
“But why?” Grian attempted to rationalize with the distraught Phil, who was now pacing across the room making stressed-out bird noises. “He won the election, shouldn’t he be content with that?” This type of stuff never happened on Hermitcraft. There were never serious talks of blowing up anyone’s builds, much less an entire country! The only time TNT is used is in pranks, and they always helped clean up after.
“You clearly don’t know Wilbur...He’s a force of chaos, I’ll tell you that. A creative little shit who always comes up with new ways to get what he wants. If he wants L’Manberg gone, then he’ll go to crazy lengths to achieve that goal.”
Silence fell.
“We need to get to L’Manberg. Now. It’s about a day’s flight from here, and we need to leave now if we want to get there as fast as fucking possible.” Phil tucked the letter into the pocket of his dark green kimono and flexed his wings. Unlike Grian, who used the sleek and slim elytra to fly about, Philza had a pair of actual feathery wings. Upon arrival, Phil explained that he was a bird hybrid, also known as an avian. He had feathers on the sides of his face and neck with elfish ears. Back on Hermitcraft, every member of the server was human.
Grian and Phil started out on their journey north, towards the world border of Dream SMP. The sun had risen, and the world border was in sight. Phil stated that Dream, the apparent Admin of the server, had agreed to let up the border for a few seconds to let Phil and Grian inside. Phil took a rest on a tree, breathing heavily after hours of non-stop flight.
“You alright, Big P?” If Phil could nickname him Grain, Grian would nickname him as well. A smile twinged across Phil’s face.
“Ahh...You sound so much like my youngest, Tommy. He says that to people too. You remind me of him so much. Right down to your red shirt and the aura of pure, unbridled chaos you emit.”
Both men laughed. Grian really enjoyed Phil’s laugh, and despite how giggly and giddy the avian usually was, it had been a few days since he had last heard him laugh. Wilbur’s lack of letters had really spooked him.
“Will you stay?”
“Hmm?”
“In L’Manberg. I mean, it’s closer to your sons.”
Phil shrugged and drank a potion of strength, and stood.
“I might, depending on what happens. If my theory is correct, and Wilbur is going to blow the place up, then I’ll probably stay. Just to help him out and help clean up y’know? Maybe I’ll be able to convince him to come home. Before you got here, I was...really lonely.”
“Well, you won’t be lonely anymore! Since I can’t return home yet, I’ll be your friend so you don’t have to be lonely!”
“Thanks, Grain.”
“You’re welcome, Big P!”
The two rose and started to fly towards the world border. Maybe Grian could make a new home on Dream SMP. The builder already started making plans for an epic build, having a vague idea in his head. However, he would have to inspect the landscapes available to see what his block palette would be and what style his build would be. Grian thought of his mansion back home and wanted to build something similar to remember it.
“Oi! Grain! You there mate?”
Grian shook his head as he was, again, dragged from his daydreams by Phil. They had arrived at the world border. “I’ve sent word to Dream, he should be letting us in soon.”
“Alrighty! What kind of base do you want to build if you stay?”
Phil just shrugged. “Eh. Don’t know just yet. Don’t want to start anything too ambitious, like a Hardcore project.”
Grian kept forgetting that this man held the world record for the longest Hardcore run. Phil was only 5”4 and didn’t look that intimidating. He looked loving and fatherly, and Grian considered Phil to be like a father to him. But the man was a dedicated Hardcore player, and could easily take Grian down in a fight. It scared him, sometimes, about how little he actually knew about Phil.
“Alright, mate, let’s go.” The blue striped border had been removed by the mysterious admin, and the two flew into Dream SMP. Grian felt a buzz from his communicator and pulled it from his pocket.
<Grian joined the game>
<Ph1LzA joined the game>
Unlike in Hermitcraft, when a member joins the server (especially a new member), the entire chat would be flooded with ‘hello!’ messages. However, on the Dream SMP, there were one or two directed at Phil. How peculiar. Phil went silent as they flew over the woods and forest. In the distance, Grian could see what appeared to be a city. That must be L’Manberg. It wasn’t as big or as grand as some builds on Hermitcraft, heck his own base would have taken up over half of the area if he lived there. On a tall pole lay what Grian assumed was the flag of L’Manberg, inky black, with a fiery red arch and X. Interesting design. Phil didn’t go into the city, however, he flew towards the coordinates that Wilbur had written in his letter, his brow furrowed. Fireworks crackled and popped throughout L’Manberg.
Grian landed with Phil, in front of a small tunnel that bore deep into a hill that was just outside the country.
“It’s now or never. Grain, stay behind me.” Phil tucked the letter away and led Grian through the tunnel, and into a compact stone room. Carved into the wall were words. No, not just words. Lyrics.
I heard there was a special place,
where men could go and emancipate.
From the brutality and tyranny of their rulers.
Well, this place was real, you needn’t fret,
With Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo, fuck Eret.
It’s a very big place, not blown up L’Manberg.
MY L’MANBERG
MY L’MANBERG
MY L’MANBERG…
Those lyrics were carved all over the stone walls, and in the middle, was a stone button. In front of that button, was Philza’s eldest son, Wilbur.
Grian had never actually seen Wilbur before, only in an old picture of when Phil, Wilbur, and Phil’s other two sons, Tommy and Technoblade, won MCC 4. In that picture, Wilbur wore a cute yellow sweater with a brown beanie, with a shimmering smile on his face.
The man that stood before them now was not that person. It couldn’t be. Wilbur stood, hunched over a stone button, whispering to himself. He donned a brown trenchcoat and ditched the beanie.
“What are you doing?” Phil asked.
Wilbur turned to face them. His eyes had no emotion in them, his smile no longer shimmered. Standing before them was an insane man.
“I will admit,” Wilbur said. His voice sent a chill down Grian’s spine, “Do you know what this is? What this button is?” Phil’s speculations appeared to be true. Wilbur was trying to destroy L’Manberg.
“Uh huh. I do.” How, how could Phil be so calm?
“Have you heard the song? The song on the walls?” Wilbur’s fingers gently ran over the words ‘MY L’MANBERG’. His eye twitched, “I was just making a big point you know? About how there was a special place, it was a special place. But that's not there anymore.” Wil’s voice lowered to a hush.
“It is there, Wil, it's out there.”
“PHIL I’M ALWAYS SO CLOSE TO PRESSING THIS BUTTON! I’VE BEEN HERE LIKE SEVEN OR EIGHT TIMES--” Voices from above cut Wilbur off. Grian could hear footsteps above them. Wilbur turned his eyes to the stone ceiling and lowered his voice. “Oh they're going to come…I need to block this off.” Wilbur hastily piled blackstone bricks in the doorway, which not only sealed whoever “they” were out, but also sealed Grian, Phil, and Wilbur in.
“Oh Phil...I’ve been here so many times.”
Numerous fireworks exploded outside.
<Tubbo_ went off with a bang due to a firework fired from [Rocket Launcher] by Technoblade>
“Oh they’re fighting, they’re fighting…” WIlbur whispered, sounding tired.
“And you just want to...to blow it all up? You fought so hard for this land, Wilbur, and you just want to...destroy it all?” Phil tried to reason.
“I don’t even know if the button works anymore, Phil, I could press it, and it might--”
“Do you want to risk it? There is a lot of TNT potentially connected to that button.”
Wilbur seemed to hear him. His breathing got heavier as he returned to that hunched over position over the stone button. What was this place? Nothing serious ever happened on Hermitcraft. There were no seriously high stakes, there were no serious threats, no serious danger. It was all in good fun.
“There...there was a saying, Phil...by, uh, by a traitor. Once part of L’Manberg, don’t know if you ever heard of Eret, but he had a saying.”
Wilbur looked up at Phil. Grian could see the familiar resemblance between the two, they shared emerald green eyes.
“It was never meant to be.” Wilbur whispered that phrase, and pressed the stone button.
for the longest time my brain just did not want to write. but then two scenes came to mind and bam, chapter!
and as always
@petrichormeraki
Wilbur showed up like he was arriving at a party. In a sense he was since Dream was taken down and he was going to see Tommy again. Dream may have revived him, but even that wasn’t going to convince Wil to help the tyrant. When he reached Philza and Techno, he was surprised to see no sign of Tommy. “So, where is he?”
“Tommy? He’s showing off his base to Tubbo.” Grian spoke up, making Wilbur notice him. His parrot wings were folded tightly so they couldn’t be seen, which was perfect for him. "Hey, you got something in your hair.”
Wilbur patted his head. “What, my hat?”
Grian shook his head and put a blue feather there. “It’s right there.”
“I can feel you put something there.” Wilbur pulled the feather out. “Don’t need you-” He stopped talking once he actually looked at the feather.
“Hey look, I’ve got one too.” Techno said pointing at the yellow feather placed behind his ear.
“No.” Wilbur sounded dumbfounded and looked back at Grian, who now had a red feather stuck in his own hair.
“Alright, let’s go see Tommy.” Grian spoke nonchalantly before Wilbur grabbed him.
“Oh no you don’t! You don’t just get to drop that bombshell on us and walk away!”
Grian laughed. “What, missed me?”
“Yes! Where the fuck were you?”
“Oh, here and there. How are you doing being alive again.”
“Less violent than I was before dying I suppose.”
“Good! But I’m still not letting you near Tommy.” When Wilbur tried to say something, Grian stopped him. “Nope, you can’t argue. I’m oldest now.”
“What the fuck to you mean, I’m a minute older than you bird boy.”
“Not anymore, I’m now in my thirties.”
“Wh- How?!”
Philza put a hand on Wilbur’s shoulder. “We can talk more when we meet back up with Tommy.”
“Yeah, we can visit his base hermit cribs style. I’ll grab my backup elytra and some rockets!” Grian ducked into a shop to use their ender chest. “Oh yeah, are you guys okay with rockets? Because Tommy told me Tubbo doesn’t like them. They won’t explode or anything, they’re just to help you with flying. Obviously dad and I won’t need them, but uh, you guys don’t have wings.”
“I’ll take them.” Wilbur said. Techno was less eager, but did also accept the elytra.
As Grian was about to take off with his family, Scar cleared his throat to get their attention. “Now Grian, while I am glad that you have found the family you lost, I am still very serious about that paperwork. I have different forms for if they’re planning to stay permanently or if they’re just going to visit often. I can send the paperwork to your mansion if you want though if you just want to come to town hall right now, we can do it there.”
“Scar, right now I want to talk with my family and figure out what we’re doing. We can’t really sign paperwork if we don’t know which paperwork to sign, right?”
Scar nodded in agreement. “Alright, I’ll send it to the mansion then. Also about the other people visiting.”
Grian flapped his wings to quickly get into the air. “Sorry Scar too far away can’t hear you byeeeee!”
On the ground, Phil sighed, though he was smiling. “I guess this means we better start flying. Let’s get up higher for an easier take off.”
Though it took an attempt or two, the avian lineage seemed to help Techno and Wilbur get the hang of using elytra extremely fast. Though in the air, Grian hadn’t flown too far and the others easily caught up with him. He guided them to the south west towards where Tommy’s base was.
As it came into view, Grian couldn’t help but laugh as he heard a gasp from behind. They landed in front of the arch acting as a doorway on the ground floor to find Tommy leaning against it. “Took long enough dickheads.”
Grian was about to jokingly scold Tommy when Wilbur went to hug and or lovingly bully his younger brother. Tommy waved his arms in an attempt to get Wil to stop, but he kept running towards Tommy. Just before he could reach the blond, he was tackled to the ground from the side by Grian.
“Grian! I was joking! It was going to be fine!” Tommy complained, helping to pull the avian off Wilbur. “You don’t have to keep mothering me! Stress does that plenty!”
“It’s not my fault I wore the chicken mask that long.”
“That is entirely your fault! And wearing a mask that long doesn’t change anything.”
Tommy and Grian continued to playfully argue until Philza caught their attention. “Oh right, forgot we had meetings to get to. Hey Tommy, which floor do you think is best for talking about all this.”
Tommy put a hand on his chin. “Hmmm, how about the sixth floor? I mean, that one is based on the smp.”
“Sounds great!” Grian said before flying up there, leaving the others behind.
“Hey! No fair!” Tommy shouted up. “Some of us have to use rockets to fly! Ugh fine we’re taking the bubble stream.”
Entering the tower, the first floor was just completely made of cobble. It was his favorite block and all, so if he was going to mainly use the first floor, that was the design he wanted. There were also a number of chests placed around to the point that it had become a bit of a chest monster. Wilbur couldn’t help but be curious and opened one chest, eyes widening at the contents. “This is filled with diamond tools and armor! You’re just leaving it here?”
Tommy looked over to what Wil was referring to. “What? Oh, that’s from endbusting. It’s all cursed gear. You should have seen the time I caught Joe afk and gave him a set of binding diamond armor. I’m not sure how he didn’t notice right away, but the moment I mentioned I liked his armor, he jumped in the nearest lava pool.”
“Really? Other than the curses, this seems like it’s pretty good?”
“Not really. No one is really stealing from each other so everyone’s got great gear. Besides, part of the prank was giving Joe diamond gear. He apparently said he wasn’t going to use diamonds this world and burns them when he gets them.”
“He just burns diamonds?!”
“Yeah.” Tommy shrugged, then walked over to one of many bubble columns. “Here, this one goes to the sixth floor. You guys go first. I want to make sure you go in it and not the others. I’ll show off my shit hermitcribs style later.”
When they got off the bubble elevator, it was something that was recognized immediately. The floor was made of grass and one wall was missing and looking right at the now setting sun. In the middle of the room was a simple bench and a jukebox.
“Your bench.” Wilbur spoke up, making Tommy nod.
“Yeah. There’s also one in the shopping district. That’s for more public stuff. I’ll just be hanging on the bench and other hermits can show up to talk about shit. This one’s for more private stuff like this.”
“Or for letting me cuddle with you.” Grian poked his head up from the other side of the bench.
Tommy’s face turned a shade of red. “We do not cuddle!”
“Then what do you call what we do when you’ve had a long day and need me to come over so you can use my wings as a blanket.”
“Hanging out. Cuddling makes it sound weird.” Tommy crossed his arms.
Grian just tackled Tommy and wrapped him in his wings. “You’re not allowed out until you admit it!”
“Never bird bitch!”
He rubbed the feathers against Tommy’s face. “Say iiit!” Tommy just plucked a feather out making Grian pull back. “Ow! You didn’t have to do that!”
“I thought you wanted us to talk as a family or some shit.”
Grian rolled his eyes, but did nod. “Yeah, you’re right.” And then he sat down on the ground across from the bench. The others found their own places to sit and just sat there in silence for a few moments before Wilbur started the conversation.
“So, you changed your name then huh? Everyone’s calling you Grian.”
Grian nodded. “Yeah, I started using it back when I was in the orphanage and legally changed it when I was eighteen. Though it took a while with the criminal record.”
“I’m sorry, your what?” Philza asked sternly, but Grian just shrugged.
“Yeah I sort of murdered some people. I probably could have found a way around it, but at the time, it was the best answer I had. And I didn’t really have a good support system. I mean, I had friends, but how are you supposed to tell them you have voices in your head telling you what to do when they’re already not the best people themselves.”
Philza rubbed his forehead. “How bad?”
“Well…”
“No, nevermind. I don’t want to know.”
“So, you’re a Watcher?” Techno spoke up in a monotone voice.
Grian used enough of his power to make a third eye appear for a second before making it disappear again. “Yeah, whatever took me from you guys happened again and dropped me off in a world that was like, so many years in the past. I actually got dropped there with a lot of people and the Watchers sort of played around with us. Nothing as bad as what Dream seemed to be doing, just puzzles and cryptic clues and portals everywhere to push us forward in time when they saw fit. Eventually they convinced me to join them.”
“Just like that?” Techno raised an eyebrow.
“Nah, I was a real pain in their side for loads of time before they finally asked me to join. I’m pretty sure it was because it was because that was the one way to get me to stop messing around.” Grian laughed at his own joke before looking sadly at the floor. “First thing I did was start looking for you guys. I assumed you would still be in the castle or somewhere nearby, but the place was abandoned. And it’s harder to find someone when you don’t know what world they’re in.”
Philza started to reach for Grian, but the younger avian’s wings started to puff up in agitation. “You know, I don’t know if I should be happy that I found you or upset. I could have never figured out where you guys were unless I got lucky peering into worlds. Only reason I found out was because Tommy came here. And he only came here because he ended up in a dangerous world with no family helping him. And you nearly took him back there.”
Tommy put a hand on one of Grian’s wings, making him puff up even more. “Hey, calm down Big G. You made sure they couldn’t do that. And if they do try, just knock some sense into them.”
Grian calmed down, though there was still tension in the room and no one spoke. The first thing that broke the silence was a yell from above them. “Tommy! How do you get down? I don’t have a water bucket on me!”
Tommy jumped up from where he was sitting. “Oh shit! I’ll be right there Tubbo!” And Tommy jumped out the window. Grian waited a moment before asking the others to look behind them, which they did just in time for all of them to see Tommy making a face at them all as he went up the bubble stream. A few moments later, Tubbo was going down a different bubble elevator and then Tommy glided in through the window. “Sorry, I keep the down one closed off so the bees don’t wander their way into it on a suicide mission. Tubbo couldn’t find it and obviously he’s not flying around.”
“Can you actually ask him to come up here? I want to say something that involves him.”
“Got it.” Tommy leaned out the window. “Hey Tubbo! Come back up here! Use the one with green glass!”
A moment later, Tubbo exited onto the floor. Tommy pushed Wilbur off the bench to make room for Tubbo to sit. “Hey! How are you so strong!”
Tommy gestured at the room around them. “I mean, I got help from some of the hermits for the interior, but the exterior was all me. I mined tons of shit looking for diamonds and I used it for here. I mean, I also got some help with the flag on top, but otherwise, all seventeen floors were built by me.”
“Seventeen floors?!”
“I know, they’re all as tall as this one so it’s small as fuck. Only big one is the top since I didn't waste an extra ceiling with the roof there.”
“You should do what Tango did last season and add a dragon or two.”
“Nah, might just start making a castle to pair up with it.”
“Tommy! What the fuck!” Tubbo said suddenly. “How did you get so good?!”
“It’s just sort of how we do stuff here on Hermitcraft.” Grian answered. “You were at Iskall’s tree right? That’s his base. He got us to help collect the leaves, but he’s been placing it all.” Tubbo just looked like his head was about to explode. “Anyway, I wanted Tommy to call you here because I didn’t get the chance to tell you. You’re the admin of the smp now.”
“I’m what?!”
“I figured after all I’ve heard about you from Tommy, you would be safe to turn into the admin. Obviously it can be moved to someone else, but you were the first choice.”
“I can’t be the admin! What if I end up like Dream?! I already wasn’t the best at being president! What if I screw up and they put me in pandora’s vault too!”
Tommy hugged Tubbo. “You were a great president, you just had to deal with bad people. And they’re not going to put you in some stupid fucking vault for a mistake.”
“And if they do, we call in Mumbo. Speaking of him, I should call him over.” Grian pulled out his communicator and hit the call button for Mumbo, putting it on speaker for the fun of it. When the redstoner answered, Grian spoke in a dramatic and joking tone into the microphone. “Mumbo. Babe. Light of my life. Father of our children.-”
Though Grian sounded like he was going to continue, a tired sounding Mumbo came through to stop him. “What do you need Grian?”
“We’re at Tommy’s base. Can you come over and meet everyone?”
“I was already planning on finding you. I’m of course on Grian watching duty after that stunt you pulled. I would have already shown up but the redstone blocks finally needed replacing.”
“Remember to bring scaffolding. You know water and redstone don’t mix.”
“I’m well aware. Bye Grian.” And Mumbo hung up.
Grian and Tommy explained more of everything on Hermitcraft and answered more questions while they all waited for Mumbo. Finally there was the distinct noise of scaffolding being placed and they saw a tower appear in front of the window and then keep going up. From below, they could hear Mumbo talking to someone else he had brought along. “You don’t need that much. Grian said they’re only on the sixth floor.”
“But I want to see Tubbee! Tubbee Tubbee Tubbee!”
“You can see Tubbee later. C’mon, let’s see Grian first.”
After the talking stopped, up the scaffolding came what looked to be a small child. Behind them was someone a bit taller, but obviously still young, and last was a man in a black suit and a mustache.
“Dad!” The smallest one ran over and jumped at Grian. Wilbur looked between Grian and the kid.
“Wait, so that wasn’t a joke. You actually have kids?”
“Well you have Fundy. I have these two. Meet Grumbot and Jrumbot.”
Wilbur opened his mouth again with a sly smirk. “Is he any good?” and then added in a wink.
When he realized what was being implied, Mumbo’s face turned a bright red and he tried talking but it was all flustered stuttering. Grian has a similar though not as pronounced reaction to the question. Jrumbot looked between his dads confused while Grumbot looked at Wilbur. “My brother and I were merely built and are powered by redstone. We have no organic parts. Our dads are not together and thus have not had se-”
“GRUMBOT!”
I am once again sending all my notes I took while watching Techno’s POV.
Overall thoughts:
I love how Techno seemed genuinely enjoying the competition while also not feeling overly stressed (like he did when he was with Dream for example)
The team worked so well together, it was great. I hope we get to see Techno with some of them again.
Sleepy bois got their win, I’m glad Dream team got theirs too (and now everyone can be sad together that their team won’t happen again)
Okay the actual live comments:
Game 1: Hole in the Wall
Hahaha the death message is “Dream! Don’t fall asleep”
What happened to HITW? Why are people so good now? Are the walls too easy?? WHAT??
Crazy how when Pete is not here the point difference between the winning team and the rest is really small.
Game 2: Sky Battle
Techno has a whole plan. This man wants to win. Please let the plan work.
Grian has now added Techno to his kill list; this man is unstoppable.
The 3rd round was so weird: Techno died really early but got many kills, and Quig was focusing Cyan instead of the actual teams that had the most points (but maybe he just spawned next to them so it was opportunity)
Tommy is doing so good. That’s for everyone that said their team would throw.
-
Techno looking for candy in the intermission between games has strong grinch simulator vibes.
Game 3: Rocket Spleef
I know nothing about tf2, but I find it so funny how Techno judges other people based on what role they play (and how he loses all respect when the play heavy, whatever that is)
I want to see Phil’s POV of this. He said he had a great strat, and it seems to work.
Dream? He okay? (A SWAT team, really chat?)
Lime is also doing very well. Of course people that use elytra all the time (hermitcraft and Phil) are amazing at this game.
Techno got 1st overall!!! YEAH!!!! (And he was saying he was average at it in the pre game hahaha)
Cyan is #1!!! GOOO
Tommy’s team is doing well, go them!
Game 4: Ace Race
They trained for Ace Race? How??
Techno is killing it, I feel I’m watching Pete. Incredible. AMAZING. He doesn’t miss anything!!
He is so focused, so quiet with small comments and motivating his team. This is awesome.
“This must be how PeteZahHut feels” YESS TECHNO AND YOU DESTROYED
He finished 30 seconds ahead of everyone!!
I am actually so happy right now, I felt I was watching my favorite team sports, what has happened to me.
Techno made a training guide video for his team! He really wants to win (please let him win)
Techno got 1 to 3rd fastest laps. GO TECHNO
Audience takeover:
OF COURSE Techno has a strat to rig the vote. A-J vote one thing, the rest votes another… “I looked it up, that should be 50% of the population” Okay, Techno. Okay.
Game 5: TGTTOS
1st round: Techno’s evil laugh when watching Dream get 30+ hahaha
2nd round: GO TAPL!!!!!!
3rd: Techno is doing so well this tournament, I really hope it pays off (or that he doesn’t beat himself up if it doesn’t)
4th: “Dream you suck” after Dream punches him. Is it me or is Techno much more vocal about the “rivalry” this stream? (Usually I feel he doesn’t really say anything except in the small rants)
It would be so fun for Lime to get dodgebolt! (I doubt it though)
Game 6: Build Mart
Techno knows recipes? What?
Great team communication!
Techno is multitasking, he is doing incredible.
BBC got so many points
Game 7: Parkour
I hate parkour.
His little “don’t choke Technoblade” is going to kill me.
“It’s the Skeppy parkour”
I hate parkour.
They are blowing up the map and I can’t see anything because Techno is in the void.
Cyan is 3rd. Oh no. Please let them win the last game; please let the last game be battle box. Pleaseee
Game 8: Sands of Time
Oh no. Oh no. Oh no.
Puffy lost 1300 coins but even with those it doesn’t seem like they did too good.
Okay they lost by a lot. I’m actually a little bit sad, Techno tried so hard, his team was awesome.
THEY GOT 6TH PLACE?????? THEY DID SO BAD THE LAST FEW GAMES OH MY GOD 6TH PLACE
Dodgebolt: Dream team vs HBomb team
If H wins a 4th time, I swear.
You know, sleepy bois got their win, and I doubt they will let DTeam win again even if they don’t win. So go DTEAM YOU DESERVE THIS WIN
(but also scott if we can’t have techno-quig or techno-hbomb, we shouldn’t have dream-sapnap are you kidding?? and with george?)
GO DREAM TEAM
hahahahaha Techno has “Dream support” censored in his chat
THEY WON!! Good for them!!!
Karl: “one of us is a champion, the other is Technoblade” hahahaha
Oh no Techno is making cursed dream fanart on stream, I’m going to have nightmares
Currently brainrotting over the concept of crow shifter wilbur
*materializes*
Ok wait does this mean he can like turn into an actual crow? Because if that’s what you mean then poggers. If not I’ll try this again XD.
Phil’s got this kid who he thinks is just human until one day the kid just flipping sneezes too hard and suddenly there’s a baby crow in the gosh dang crib and Phil’s just already ordering tylenol for the upcoming headaches.
Winged Wilbur? Only if he feels like it, which, when he was younger, was all the time! He loved his wings very very much! Took good care of them with help of Dadza.
I know SBI family ain’t canon but hush let me have my fun please
Techno and Tommy know Wilbur has wings but they don’t know he can just literally turn into a crow. They just assume it’s one of Phil’s gazillion crows if they do see him.
Wilbur likes flying a lot, it was something he and Phil did together a good bit, and he used to grab Yommy and just yoink him into the skies as a joke. Tommy screamed but actually liked it.
Hollow bones? Hollow bones. Fragile crow man.
They didn’t realize it until a bit later in life. Spar with Techno gone wrong. Tech got a bit too into the fight and tried a maneuver that would have been,,, relatively fine had Wilbur had normal human bones but since he doesn’t? Snap.
Wilbur didn’t hold any grudges because like hey he didn’t know his bones where like that either! Plus healing potions fixed it up.
Phil does not have hollow bones. He is a confused old man as to why Wilbur has them.
Wilbur absolutely make friends with all of Phil’s crows. They are besties. He can talk to crows, like, even if He’s human form. They just know he is one of them and vibe with him. Some even follow him to Dream’s server.
Dream SMP time now it’s just angst
Wilbur hides his wings when he first arrives because he doesn’t know how obvious differences are handled. He sees the rules about elytra and decides it’s just better to pretend he’s human. Tommy let’s his brother do as he pleases, though he doesn’t think it’s really dangerous or anything.
Wilbur asks the crows if they think he’s being too cautious. They don’t answer him directly, and that’s answer enough for him. It’s part of why he tries to form L’manberg, outside of getting shot and all that police brutality stuff. He doesn’t trust Dream and the others, but he had once been willing to be friends. He doesn’t think that’s possible after they declare war on him and his friends.
Nobody really knows why the L’manbergians have crows everywhere. Where are the crows even coming from? No one knows. They always linger around battles, and no one bothers touching them because SapNap tried to burn a tree they were all on and they just swarmed him.
Wilbur discusses battle plans with the crows. They’re actually very good spies and generals. They didn’t catch the Eret thing, though. Wilbur had trusted his friends, and he didn’t have crows following them. Dream made sure no crows were around when he met up with Eret.
Tubbo swears he sees Wilbur talking to the crows sometimes, but when he asks Tommy if Wilbur talks to birds Tommy is just like “Tubs birds can’t talk” so he doesn’t know what he is seeing.
When they went back to the final control room, there were no bodies, of course, but where Wilbur’s had been several crows were gathered, watching. They followed the people out.
There are a lot of crows for the duel. Two sit on the shoulders of each L’manbergian. They flew off Tommy when he got shot.
During the actual L’manberg times, the crows were just vibing. Wilbur didn’t take care of his wings during the war, too afraid to take them out, especially after Eret’s betrayal. He hid in his house to take care of them now. It was hard, but he managed.
Tommy would’ve offered to help but he didn’t really notice Wilbur still never had his wings out.
Wilbur is very stressed and is more venting to the crows than anything anymore. They offer advice but they don’t know much about politics and taxes. He honestly just wants to turn into a crow and fly off for a little bit keeps stopping himself. The crows are concerned but Wilbur is still writing letters to Phil so they assume if Wilbur needed help he’d ask Phil in the letters. They trust their weird bird human and his not quite bird father.
When Tommy and Wilbur are exiled, the crows are purposefully blocking arrows as best they can by harassing the archers. The one arrow they don’t interfere with hits Wilbur. He dies. The crows give up on the archers and just focus on getting Tommy out of danger.
Wilbur, to escape L’manberg after respawning, turns into an actual crow and flies away. He gets led to Tommy by the other crows. He’s crying to himself a little, surrounded by the quiet birds. Tommy suddenly sees Wilbur appear in the midst of the birds and just hugs him.
During Pogtopia the crows are mostly In Manberg, watching. As Wilbur gets more paranoid the more crows that show up. But like Wilbur might be friends with crows but no one seriously thinks he can talk to them so no one does anything. They’re watching, trying to find something to reassure Wilbur with, but they can’t find anything.
The crows start leaving the closer the 16th gets. Wilbur knows what it means but doesn’t think Phil will actually show up. He’s surprised when he gets to the button room and Phil shows up.
Phil is,,, distressed. Wilbur’s hiding his wings and his crows have been screaming at him to get to his son and he’s been trying but server travel is hard. The crows whisper to Philza that he has one shot.
He fails.
Wilbur intentionally let’s out his wings during the blast to both push Philza out of danger and to let them burn. He doesn’t need them anymore.
Everyone sees Wilbur with wings that are literally burning up and he’s not even screaming. He just hands Phil the sword and begs to die. Phil is too shocked to do anything but comply.
Then Wilbur dies. The crows are loud and they make noise through the wither battle.
Ghostbur has burned wings, and crows follow him protectively. He can still turn into a crow but it’s like a ghostly crow.
Friend exists still and friend becomes friends with the crows.
I’m out of ideas ;-;
Skeppy and Technoblade thief/mercenary idea from @fallingappleshurt
recommended that you listen to bamboleo before or while you read this lol
Word count: 809
tw: none
enjoy :)
It was another day for Techno and Skeppy, running from the cops as they steal and hunt people down for money to survive.
Skeppy was about 7 when he met Technoblade, they’d met when Skeppy’s village was kicked out of his village for his appearance. He had electric blue eyes, and a large amount of his arm and even a few knocked out teeth were replaced with the growth of geodes, diamonds.
When Technoblade found him he was skinny for his age, but fast and durable with those diamonds of him, so Techno decided to have mercy on him and give the kid some food and after that they were connected by the hip, where one was the other was never far.
Technoblade was around 10 or 11 when he met Skeppy. He was shunned for his appearance, like his friend, from his passel in the nether as a baby and left to fend for himself in the overworld where they didn’t treat his much different from his past group. He had naturally peony pink hair that grew too fast for his liking, bright red eyes, pink ears atop his head with one folded and the other sticking up, pig-like legs, and tusks.
Currently it was a few hours after midnight, where most were asleep. Techno and Skeppy hid in the alleyway, gathering their items and putting up their hoods for their ‘job’.
They’d gotten a note, saying that someone needed a person to be “taken care of”. They promised to drop off the money after the job was done, it wasn’t signed with a name which only raised more suspicions. The only thing the writer left was a smiley face and the bottom. Were they gonna do it anyway? yup.
Skeppy put up his dark blue hood and black mask that cover his neck, mouth, and nose. Techno braided his hair and put up his maroon hood, he had no need for a mask thankfully. “lets get this over with” Skeppy groaned, and they were on their way wordlessly.
-
They wandered in the forest for a bit, jumping from one tree branch to the next. “so whats the plan?” Skeppy whisper-yells to his friend. Techno haults, seeing a stone path and a trio of men with horses “oh- nerd spotted” he mumbles lowly. it was still dark and the natural forest ambience was loud so he wasn't too worried about getting caught.
The taller man, or what Techno assumed to be their leader, had massive grey wings. He couldn't make out the one that was on horseback. He wordlessly gestured Skeppy to go on ahead to see the terrain, leaving him alone watching the two men.
He carefully navigated his way back to Skeppy and still followed the people, but unfortunately, lady luck was not on his side.
A tree branch snagged his cloak, causing him to fall with an “oof”. It left him exposed, his sword hilt was visible, along with his face and expressions. The men looked back, the main person walked to the noise and saw him get to his feet with dark eyes. “You okay mate?” the man asks, Techno noticed his appearance, short golden hair, a green bucket hat, and foreign green clothing. Suddenly he knew who the man in green was and who the person behind him was.
He was standing in front of Philza Minecraft, one of the only people to own an elytra and not dying once trying to get ahold of it.
Techno hears a familiar voice calling his name, “TECHNO!” he looks to his right to see Skeppy being chased by several royal guards with no mask. Techno lets out a long drawn out sigh and counts each head. “SKEPPY I LEAVE YOU ALONE TO DO ONE THING AND YOU COME BACK WITH LIKE 10 DUDES WHAT IS THIS-” he runs over to his friend, meeting him half way onto a long stone bridge.
The pair pause, it was clear they were surrounded and backed into a corner. Philza watched curiously as the pair looked at each other with an unclear intent. “You two kids are under arrest for man-slaughter, first degree murder, and theft. come with us, we will not hesitate to kill if you struggle.” Phil’s eyes widened. They were only kids? Surely not.
Techno and Skeppy look at the guards and looked at each other. The guards pointed their weapons at the boys, blades glinting in the now rising sun behind them. The boys backed up, leaning against the railings of the bridge, it seemed as though the rushing water below seemed louder than it did before. Maybe, just maybe, it was because they’d fallen into it with cheshire like grins on their faces.
“Find them! Don’t let them escape!” the men scattered around the riverbend, not finding a single trace of the boys.
#technoblade#Skeppy#fanfic#my writing#mercenary techno and skeppy au#I guess?#sorry I made techno older lol#philza#hope this is good dude :)
c!Dream may have more of a connection to the End than we think (Ranboo and Dream theory /rp)
I’m sure someone has already had this idea but I’ve got to get it down.
One thing that struck me as interesting about Ranboo’s recent stream was the way he reacted to seeing the contracts he’d changed (that is, the contracts from the prison that Sam was angry about). Both books are titled “Ranboo” in Ender (no idea if there’s an official name for that language or something so I’m just calling it that). As for the contents (also in Ender), I got: “I hereby -ssu-e. Signed: Ranboo”. I did what I could to translate, but it was a bit blurry for me so if anyone else has a more complete translation I’d love to see it.
It isn’t much. Really, considering how upset he seemed just from seeing the books, hardly anything at all was inside. In fact, just from these, he seems to figure out why he visited the prison (I’m pretty sure Dream wants Ranboo to break him out, due to the way Ranboo talked about the issue. He said (paraphrased) “I really can’t tell Sam why, he’s the prison warden.”) So what tipped him off? I would argue that it’s the fact that the books were written in Ender.
There’s an interesting pattern when it comes to Ranboo’s enderman half. When he was doing his odd off-camera strip mining, he spoke in chat only in Ender. Multiple server members have spotted him running around in a sort of trance (”sleep walking”), moving grass blocks. Phil managed to snap him out of it one time, and Ranboo had no idea how he’d gotten to where he was, demonstrating that he doesn’t remember these sleep walks. These seem to be the points at which his enderman half is dominant. He’s gone full-on ender, and he doesn’t remember anything from this time afterward. That, combined with the fact that the books being written in Ender seemed to clue him into what happened, leads me to the assumption that Ranboo helps Dream while his ender half is dominant. But why? Decoded Ender messages in chat seem to imply that he’s like the him we know while in this state: he’s talked to Phil and others in a friendly tone, and doesn’t really seem out of the ordinary.
Do you guys remember that Game Theory about the End? I’m gonna be honest, I haven’t actually watched it, but I’ve got the gist, I think: the Ender Dragon controls the endermen in a hive mind. Endermen were Minecraft’s old builders, the ones who made the mineshafts and stronghold and stuff. When Steve kills the Ender Dragon, he literally Frees the End, freeing the endermen from her control. Going off of that theory, then, Dream would be able to control a half-enderman with the power of an Ender Dragon, would he not? Of course, he would only be controlling half of a single complete consciousness, which is why it’s messy and Ranboo is so messed up and confused. His claims that he is “part of Ranboo” I can imagine to be his method of gaslighting him, in a way, trying to convince him that the control he’s exerting is natural and to mesh his will into Ranboo’s own.
So how did Dream get this power? I’m not sure. One option could be that he killed the Ender Dragon and inherited it. This seems unlikely to me: there’s simply not anything of note I can find to back it up.
Another reason could be that he is the/an Ender Dragon, or is part Ender Dragon. We know the Dragon has kids, because she’s got an egg. Depending on how you look at it, this could make a lot of sense. Dream has, after all, claimed that his character is “the protector”. Supposedly, he meant of the SMP, although he did claim this during the conversation Techno and Phil were having while planning the Syndicate (shortly after Dream destroyed the End portal), so maybe he’s referring to the End itself, or something in the End. What exactly the goal of the Ender Dragon is is ambiguous, but killing her unlocks a lot of things. She could be guarding the End Cities, or her egg, or maybe even the portal out. Maybe Dream is protecting one or all of those things, much in the way he’s disallowing shulkers and elytras for non-canon reasons.
My final theory: he’s somehow drawing his power from the Ender Dragon directly. Maybe he made a deal with her, or maybe he’s somehow controlling her? Not sure. Anyway, much like the previous explanation, this affords a canonical reason for why Dream disallows access to the End. This would be a vulnerability, a source of power outside of himself. Not necessarily a sentimental attachment, but a weakness nonetheless. It would be hard to know just how much power Dream draws from the dragon, but it’s probably a lot. Considering the fact that they intend to start a new world at some point in the vaguely near future, this could afford a way to finish the current world- a way to defeat the server’s most consistent villain. Everyone bands together, kills the Dragon, taking Dream’s primary power source, and hops through the portal, ready to start a new dream. I do find this somewhat unlikely, seeing as Dream was ready to permanently destroy the End portal (implying he doesn’t have any lore plans with it), but who knows.
TL:DR, Ranboo’s enderman half is being controlled by Dream to help him. Maybe Dream is doing this using the power of the Ender Dragon (per Game Theory’s Free the End theory).
Dream smp timestamp | Dawn of the 16th
Oh hello
so a friend of mine just started on the mcyt fandom and isn’t that familiar with the lore and i’ve been helping him catch up and we both watched sad-ist’s newest animation and he didn’t understand but still loved it nontheless and i procastinated and didn’t want to do my school work so i made him like timestamps for the animation explaining what’s happening and what’s the context in each scene it’s under the cut and if there are any mistakes pls tell me so i can change it to the correct information pr any info that can be added/any that i missed (also he already knows the charas and a few bits of lore so there’s no explanation on who’s who)
here’s the video by sad-ist: “Dawn of the 16th” | Dream SMP Animation
0:00-0:04 is the talk of tommy and wilbur during exile planning the revolution 0:05-0:07 is the bench that's like the friendship place of tubbo and tommy (their special hangout place) 0:08-0:11 is the caravan ruins of the first war 0:12-0:14 is the sapnap's fish which he had to release due to some fighting with tommy 0:15-0:18 shows the castle eret made (the dream smp team's castle essentially) 0:19-0:27 shows eret (the current king at the time of the dream smp team) and dream talking about respect and backstabing, which i think is funnny cuz he was the first ever traitor of lmanbrg and became king after dream even if dream was supposed to give the crown to george 0:28-0:40 shows tubbo overlooking lmanburg (he is a known traitor to schlatt at this point in time and he's planning the revolution with tommy) and then it pans to quackity (former fiance of schlatt and new traitor to him as well) joining tubbo in overlooking lmanburg 0:40-0:47 the dialogue between eret and dream continue 0:50 shows the declaration of independance of lmanburg made by the first president (wilbur) if u look closely u can see a big SUCK IT GREEN BOY on the side cuz wil did a joke while writing it XD 0:52 shows tommy overlooking the declaration 0:53-0:55 is the founding members of lmanburg before the first war 0:56 are tommy's discs (which started the first war and the current war that takes place after the animation's timeline) which are like aa keypoint to tommys chara 0:57-0:58 - tommy gives tubbo the discs as like a sign of trust and they do this in the bench place shown earlier 1:00 shows the aftermath of the explosion seen later 1:02 is the aftermath of the fight due to the terrorism act done by technoblade 1:03 shows dream and techno side by side with tommy's voice saying "the best pvp players" and then it pans to tommy saying to tubbo that it's basically them against dream (the literal puppet master of the smp) 1:10 dream leaves the palace 1:13 shows the election stand and basically the white house of manburg (lmanburg and manburg are diff due to schlatt being the dictator of lmanburh turing it into manburg also teh structures are diff as well in per era) and then it just zooms out idk what the symbolism of the fallen chair is but i think it's the chair wilbur and tommy sat in when they got exiled 1:19 the first appearance of philza who is the canon dad of techno, wilbur, and tommy (phil's chara is shown to have wings due to his experience in mc with hard mode where he always has the elytra on and also it's always white so the raven transition seems to mean about wilbur having dark wings, i think, not really sure but it's my interpretation to it) 1:20 is where techno shows his underground bunk to pogtopia (the rebelling/revolution party) which literally has so much shit 1:21 -1:30 is the bunker with the stuff needed in a fight, each chest is filled with stacks of one item ex. one chest is full with strength pots and the other with flaming arrows 1:30-1:31 shows techno saying the most iconic line, and also shows how his chara is an anarchist (someone who doesnt like any form of government) sadist seems to like remind people that hes basically chaotic in this scene 1:31-1:32 shows pogtopia getting the loot with an easter egg of tubbo taking all the emeralds of a chest (he actually did this on stream so kudos to sadist for that little detail) 1:37 techno actually gives a powerful enchanted sword to tommy personally and then the awesomme af transition of to tommy leading the pogtopia to kill schlatt 1:42 shows dream preparing 1:43-1:47 shows the all three parties, the first is lmanburg (maburg) party with schlatt and dream takig charge, second being the pogtopia party and if u noticed wilbur is the only one not happy and the only one without armor because at this point he became insane and want to blow up lmanburg but people do not know, the lastly the neutral party which showcases badboyhalo talking about that it doesnt really matter with flames in the bg (i think this references to the egg which is seen later in the future but at this point in time the weird egg is just starting to grow with bbh tending to it which made him go crazy up until the whole skeppy thing (skepp is bbh's best friend so yea)) 1:48 is the buttonn to blow up lmanburg but wilbur hasnt pushed it yet cuz he is still trying to figjt the urge to push it 1:49-1:53 wilbur is losing his mind and is on the verge of destroying everything with his black wings showing to represent his dad which shows up on the next scene 1:54-1:55 phil shows up and wibur doesnt know what to with his dad confronting him and knowing that phil wouldnt approve and would try to stop him 1:57 shows the bridge where pogtopia is running through to get to schlatt and it's iconic due to the fact of the coinicidence it being a sunset 2:00 is the start of the fight with an explosion then the fight sequence between pogtopia and lmanburg happen to get to to schlatt 2:10 happens and u see schlatt on the ground at this point in time hes an alcholic and hes drunk and surroounded by once friends turned enemy due to his tyranny 2:18 fundy explains why he joined pogtopia to schlatt 2:22 schlatt dies losing his last canon life due to a heart attack, tbh im suprised on how sad-ist made this so serious but in teh streams he dies while saying to quackity that his ass his flat or i quote "flatty patty" 2:23 tubbo is made the new president by wilbur 2:24 everyone rejoices but technoblade cuz he joined and helped pogtopia becauase he thought that after they won there would be no more governemnt 2:25-2:45 the act of terrorism of technoblade starts with him explaining his beliefs as an anarchist, he threatens tubbo which is serious because tubbo has only one last canon life left and tommy goes to fight him to save tubbo 2:45 pogtopia fights technoblade 2:47 we go back to wilbur where the button is that will start all the tnt hidden underneath lmanburg 2:48 the fight is still going on outside and people are unaware of what wilbur is going to do 2:51 wilbur quotes the first ever traitor: eret saying "it was never meant to be" and phil is shocked and doesnt do anything to stop wilbur from hitting the button 3:02 he couldnt stop wilbur pressing the button which in turn explodes everything even half the room but phil was able to protect wilbur from the blast 3:04-3:05 teh explosion happens and disrupts the fight between techno and pogtopia 3:06 tommy's closup to his reaction of seeing the land he fought for blowing up 3:07-3:09 wilbur hands philza his sword and says to kill him but phil refuses saying that he cant kill his own son 3:11 the other;s reaction seeing phil and wilbur in the room after the explosion dies down 3:12 tubbo is in shock 3:13 dream is watching in triumph as he sees wilbur blow everything up 3:15 techno prepares the withers //also fun fact when phil killed will he finds out techno is the traitor they were warned about who will bring destruction and chaos during the earlier stages of the revolution, it isnt wilbur as he exploded everything on his own volition rather than teaming up with dream like what techno did 3:16 techno's speech starts alluding to a previous conversation he had with tommy where he warns tommy that being a hero will result in a gruesome death 3:18-3:20 different scenes pop up, the first being tommy's discs being held by someone with armor (i think its dream due to the fact he has the discs later in the timeline to threaten tommy and lmanburg), the second being someone in a lmanburg uniform (not sure if its tommy or tubbo but if its tommy it seems like it'sthe exile), 3rd is the throne room with george on the throne and dream and callahan at his side , then last is the scene of the newest members, captain puffy, connor, and ranboo joining with emphasis on ranboo as he is important to the plot later on the sequence also shows phil holding a now deceased wilbur crying and then techno realeses the withers on everyone (withers are very difficult to kill and cause so mch chaos even if its alone and its hard to summon it as you have to farm for wither skulls which is also hard so the fact techno has enough to make two is a big deal) 3:27 shows the lmanburg tree, it is a tree that represents lmanburg and has been there for both wars and is extremely important to the history of the nation and thats that :3
Through Fire and Ice
(Technoblade x Reader)
Chapter 1
Next Chapter
~~~~~~
They had caused this… An ice age the likes no one had ever seen before. A world thrown out of whack… The party of four, Philza, Technoblade, Tommy, and Tubbo had slain the dragon in the end realm. The final blow dealt to the neck of the dragon; had brought on a chill they had never felt before. Though they didn’t truly recognize what had happened until they got back to the overworld. Tommy and Tubbo had jumped through the portal first. Technoblade had stayed back looking toward his friend Phil.
Every breath they took could be seen due to the cold, but Phil was not bothered too much by it. He had read many scriptures leading up to this moment. As he excitedly looked out into the void, his hands on his hips. The pink haired man walked to Phil’s side. Phil’s eyes shined as he looked over at Techno, a smile gracing his lips.
“Hey mate.” Phil greeted Technoblade, “We did it!” Philza beamed putting his hand out as if to grasp onto something that just wasn’t there. “Do you know what lies just beyond that void?” Techno cocked his head to the side.
“Uuuuuuhhhh” Techno said in a monotone voice, thinking but nothing came to him. “I have absolutely no clue.” Techno shrugged his shoulders crossing his arms, hoping that would help warm him up somehow.
“There are cities out there, Techno,” Philza mused, “Filled with exceedingly rare items, just ripe for the taking!”
“Heh?” Techno looked through the pig skull he wore as a mask, at Phil bewildered looking out into the void. There was nothing but an inky blackness, the thought of it made his head spin. “Who do you think made those cities? Are they still there? Do you think they’ll let us just run off with their items?” Philza just shook his head.
“The scriptures read, that these cities are abandoned, I’m almost certain of it.” Philza pulled out a scroll from his robes, unraveling it to read it. “They do have some very… interesting defenses, so do be careful.” Phil added after a moment of reading.
“Uh huh…” Techno looked over the edge slightly leaning over it kicking a rock with his shoe into the void. “Theres just one flaw to your plan…” Techno looked back to Phil, “How do you plan to get over there?” Phil donned a playful smirk, handing Techno building materials.
“How ‘bout a race old friend?” Phil had challenged, watching the smile widen on Techno’s face.
“Perhaps…” Techno was already getting into position to start the race and they once they both were ready, they started building out toward the void, starting their search for the valuables the scriptures had promised them.
-
In the overworld, Tommy and Tubbo were chattering talking about how cool that fight with the dragon was. Tommy was boasting about how cool he was.
“I am massive Tubbo, that dragon has never seen the likes of me before!” Tommy proclaimed jerked a thumb toward his chest. Tubbo gave a confused look tilting his head, his hand coming up in a questioning gesture.
“Didn’t Techno have to help get a hoard of endermen off of you?” Tubbo innocently inquired, causing Tommy to bust up in nervous laughter.
“Listen- Tub-Tubbo,” Tommy feigned his confidence, “It’s all a part of the plan!” Tommy gave a wide smile to his best friend, “I had to help get them off Philza, Big Man.” Tubbo still looked confused as they walked up the stairs to exit the stronghold.
“Mmmm, but weren’t you screaming for both Phil and Techno to help you?” Tubbo asked, and he was immediately hushed by tommy.
“Listen, that was just me stroking Technoblades ego, it’s very fragile you know!” Tommy declared and he finally had a sigh of relief when Tubbo shrugged and didn’t press further on the subject. “You were great too big man!” Tommy nudged Tubbo in the arm. “It wasn’t easy breaking those crystals.” Tubbo nodded in response but started rubbing down his arms trying to get warm, his breath coming out in puffs of steam.
“Aren’t we in a desert?” Tubbo asked his teeth started to chatter. As they got closer to the surface, the colder it got. Tommy rubbed his hands together trying to use his breath to warm up his fingers. Tommy nodded, just as confused as Tubbo.
When they had reached the entrance of the stronghold and they were at the surface and their eyes widened at the snowy sight before them.
“Snow!” Tubbo squealed out happily, there wasn’t too much snow sticking to the sandy ground, but they could definitely start to catch the snowflakes on their tongues. The two boys ran forward laughing and playing in the ever-growing winter wonderland.
-
You found yourself sitting below a tree reading your book in the shade, it was a normal day. The day was warm, and you found yourself enjoying the occasional breeze that would roll through. You often came to this spot to read whatever book took your fancy, sighing contentedly you let your fingers stroke over the pages of the book. Opening the book to where your bookmark was, you started reading.
The rustle of the leaves in the tree calmed you as the branches swayed with the wind. You could even hear distant clucking from a nearby chicken. Stretching out in the shade of your tree, your eyes scanned over the words of your book. There was no other place you would rather be right now.
You had lost track of time, and the thing that was able to knock you out of your trance was a sound… You didn’t know how to describe it, but the sound came from a distant land it seemed. It was… discomforting. Something was happening and you didn’t know exactly what. Looking around everything seemed normal. You were in the forest, with no one around. It sounded extremely far off… But you didn’t know if it was a good sound or not. Nothing else happened after that so you shrug it off.
Before too long, you had forgotten about the sound, putting your nose right back into that book again. But this time around twenty minutes later, you had gotten cold, and that was what tore you away from the book. Looking around once more you were able to catch the first few snowflakes to fall to the ground. Unbeknownst to you a thick fog had rolled in around you as well.
“Wha-?” You whispered to yourself quietly. You slowly got up feeling your bones give off a crack sound from the movement. Stretching you put your book in your book bag and left in the direction of your home. You were a little annoyed being that you were almost done with your book, but it was time that you got a move on with your day at this point. You had to get home and get a fire started in your cottage so that you wouldn’t be cold.
It was weird how fast the chill had crept up on the day in summer, and you had a worrying thought about the sound that you heard from the distance. Maybe the two had correlated… But you couldn’t be too sure, you had never heard that noise before.
The fog rolled in heavily as minutes passed by and you couldn’t see a foot past your face. This was worrying… One wrong turn and you would be heading the opposite direction from your house. That thought terrified you. Considering the closest village was miles away from you, and that was if you were heading in the right direction. You hadn’t scouted the other directions yet. You were still new to the area…
Feeling a twinge of annoyance at your now runny nose, you stopped and looked around hoping there was something that you could identify. Nothing but the nearby trees caught your attention in the haze. The snowflakes seemingly got much larger in the passing minutes and they had no trouble sticking to the ground. You decided to just keep going. You had to keep moving so you wouldn’t freeze.
You had willed yourself to go just a bit more through what was becoming a fully-fledged snowstorm. Fingers and toes were starting to ache. Had you known that it was going to snow today, you wouldn’t have opted to wear summer clothing, the shorts and tank top were not helping in any case. One thing was for sure, you were going to find somewhere to get out of this snowstorm, be it your own cottage or someone else’s, you were going to get there.
-
Philza and Techno were back at the end portal their inventories filled to the brim with treasures. Winglike contraptions strapped to their backs, made it possible for them to fly, or at least glide through the air. This was the main item Philza had been looking for, and Techno was glad to be here for the expedition. Techno had even let out a high pitch gasp in delight when they had found a second, as Phil called it, Elytra for Techno.
“Aye mate,” Philza tapped Techno on the shoulder, “Ya think we should take the egg?” He pointed to the egg on top of the bedrock pillar.
“Does it count as an orphan?” Techno grinned amused as Phil busted up laughing.
“I suppose so,” Phil chuckled as he quickly built up to the egg, careful not to fall into the portal below.
“This is going to be the ultimate orphan trophy,” Techno mused as he watched Phil reach out to take the egg. But before Phil could get a finger on the egg… It was gone.
Phil let out a very confused and loud “What!?” before looking around for the egg further, it had teleported just few feet away, untouched. Techno laughed at Phil who climbed down from the pillar.
“You just got denied!” Techno taunted, wafting away some stray hair from his face. Phil puffed out a sigh and pulled out his scrolls to see if he had missed anything about the egg. Techno looked over the man’s shoulder. He couldn’t read anything on the scroll, that was Philza’s department… Even so… That wasn’t the language villagers usually spoke.
“Mmmm, seems like we can’t interact with it ourselves mate.” Philza’s hand covered his mouth in thought. “I have a plan,” Philza grabbed his bag and walked over to the egg. “Techno, dig out just enough for the egg to fall into the bag.”
“Alright.” Grabbing his pickaxe, he dug out just enough of the end stone for the egg to topple over safely into Philza’s bag.
“There we go!” Philza beamed holding the bag up. The top of the egg could barely be seen. He closed up the bag and strapped it over his shoulder. “Let’s get back to the boys, I’m tired of this chill in the air.”
“We gotta pack extra clothes when we come back for the other cities,” Techno mused pulling his blue cloak around him to help stave off the chill. Phil grunted in agreement and he made his way back to the portal. With one step into the portal, he was gone.
Techno lingered for a moment, his eyes searching the darkness. Had the dragon killed the inhabitants of the cities? Or… Was it something else? This realm was lonely, he wasn’t sure he wanted to come back here. The deafening silence was eerie. Shaking his head, he jumped through the portal. His eyes closed; he felt his stomach turn into knots. His body flew out of the other side of the portal and he orientated himself to land on his feet, though he kneeled when he felt his feet touch the floor to keep his balance.
“Everything good mate?” Phil asked extending his hand to Techno, who took it nodding his thanks. “Good.” Making sure they had everything, they opt to go up the stairs. At a certain point they could hear the boys outside playing and laughing.
“Am I missing something here? Why is it cold in the middle of the desert?” Techno asked with an edge to his voice. Something definitely wasn’t right. Phil shrugged looking on with an equally worried expression. The entrance they had dug had flurries of snow covering the first few steps.
“It’s the middle of summer at that…” Phil hurried his step, when the two men had gotten to the surface they were met with the sight of Tommy and Tubbo having a snowball fight. The boys peered over at them excitedly. They both ran up to Phil and Techno sizing up their new gear.
“So that’s what you’ve been up to,” Tommy pouted his eyes wandering over the elytras on Phil and Techno’s backs. “Why didn’t take us,” Tommy whined motioning to himself and Tubbo. “I want… Whatever that thing is.”
“Tommy, I hear you, but I really don’t think it’s the time for that,” Phil put his hand on Tommy’s shoulder, as he looked around the snowy area. “We need to get back home.” Tommy scoffed but before he could retort Techno chimed in.
“We don’t want to hear it Tommy, something is going on and we need to figure out what.” Techno looked toward Phil. Ignoring Tommy muttering to himself about how it was unfair that they got all the cool loot, and he didn’t. “We need to talk to the others and make a plan of action if this storm doesn’t stop,” Phil nodded, “I’m going to get some supplies, take them home and call the others for a meetin’.” The plan was set, and everyone headed off on their journeys.
~~
Techno was in a bit of a bind. He was stuck in fog, and there were strays shooting at him from all directions. He didn’t know where an arrow would come from next. Some even got close enough to hit him using melee. Their ability to slow their enemies was annoying but Techno made quick work of them for the most part. He knew he was on the right path to his cottage.
An agonized scream echoed out, making Techno’s head snap up, his heart dropped, and he trudged further. His steps taking their sweet time as he was still affected with slowness. He listened for anything but didn’t hear another noise other than the crunching snow under his feet, but he soon found red droplets in the snow. Someone out here was injured… Following the trail of blood, he eventually found a body in the snow.
You were riddled in arrows, breathing shallowly, lying face down in the snow. Unfastening his cloak, he wrapped you in the clothing and lifted your body with ease. You made some sounds of protest, which caused him to believe you were awake.
“Stay with me okay?” His deep voice called to you, causing your eyes to flutter open and meet his. You were having trouble keeping focus. Your eyes skimming over the mask he wore on his face. Fear courses through you. “You will be okay.” He reassures you; he can see your fear. He doesn’t blame you; it would be off-putting to be hurt, and to suddenly be carried by a man you didn’t know who was wearing a boar skull as a mask. You let out a little sigh, your body going limp in his arms.
Techno looked around, this had brought him off course, but he kept his compass on him, pointing to a lodestone he had in his house. Reading the compass, he trudges on, with you in his arms, still dodging arrows. It wasn’t too long of a walk before he suddenly had the cottage in his view, and he kicks the door open. Hurriedly he sets you down onto the floor next to the fireplace. Quickly lighting a fire, he searches his chests for any and all health potions.
He was going to have to pull all those arrows out of you, one by one. He wasn’t looking forward to it. He peeled the bloody cloak off your body, examining your wounds. He sighed in relief. Your wounds could be easily healed with his potions. He counted three arrows stuck in your legs in all directions and two in your back. Your skin was frostbitten, and your lips were blue.
Clipping the arrows shorter he made quick work, of the ones in your back. If they had hit any deeper, he would have been worried. Even so, your blood started to pool on his cloak that lie beneath you. Splashing a health potion on your back closed the wounds but they left definite scars. Now he was onto the arrows in your legs. He tended to the wounds in your legs just as he did with the ones in your back.
Looking down at his handy work, blood all over his hands, he pushed back thoughts, the voices that liked to plague his mind coming back for a split second. Hands shaking, he got up to wash his hands, only to find that the pipes had been frozen. With an irritated sigh he grabbed a bucket and started filling the cauldron above his fire with snow.
You were caked in blood and he wanted to have a bath ready for you when you woke up, he didn’t like seeing blood smeared on anyone, not even himself, as it just made the voices in his head stronger. He had tended to Tommy like this once upon a time when Tommy had overestimated himself and he fell from a cliff. Back then he didn’t have control over the voices like he did now. The memory made him shudder.
Sighing he searched his fridge; you both were going to be here for a while, and you were going to need to regain your strength. He had a good supply of potatoes, steak and carrots, that could keep the two of you going for a few days. To Techno, you didn’t seem like a fighter, so he wasn’t too worried you were going to stab him in the back but who knew, maybe he was wrong. If he was… Then he would be ready.
Either way, the both of you had time to get to know each other.

Chapter three for Surprisingly Familiar. It’s time to get to the real plot of this thing!
@petrichormeraki is the maker of the hermit Tommy au, @helleborusangel likes to read these and give me their rambles which are my beloved, and then check my tumblr for my masterpost of things I’ve made.
“Hey Paul, you’re done talking with X, right?” Bdubs asked as he noticed Paul walking by.
“Uh, yeah. He said he could let a guest in for a little bit because he needs to talk with Phil and Phil’d rather stay here instead of coming to the castle.”
“Yeah yeah, sounds great.” Bdubs sad, waving it off. “Hey, new question. Paul what the heck was that back there?!” He shouted, making a number of hermits look over.
“Hey, calm down, keep things off tap.” Paul tried to calm the hermit down, but it didn’t work that much.
“Oh this is Hermitcraft. We don’t do things on tap. Except Tommy but that’s different. Now, what were you doing back there?” And Bdubs pointed towards the room Paul and Phil had talked in. From the crowd, Jrum felt a little nervous, wondering if it was something he did, but the answer calmed the bot.
“Calm down. It was something Hoodie taught me. I’m sure Zedaph can back me up.”
Behind Bdubs, Zed stopped slurping from a coffee cup that was actually filled with a slushie. “Yeah, don’t worry he’s fine. No necromancy.”
“See? I just wanted a private conversation.” Paul replied, though Bdubs still looked grumpy.
“Alright, don’t make me call in Genny.” And Bdubs signalled that he was watching Paul before walking off. As he left, Scar took his place, seeming pretty confused.
“So, what’s with him?”
Paul sighed. “He’s not a fan of certain types of magic. I did a bit of necromancy for a time and there was someone else in the world who essentially became a dark lord, so Bdubs and some others became witch hunters.”
“Huh, That’s not something I would have guessed.” Scar said. “I mean, I’m a wizard and he’s been fine with me.”
Paul looked a little stunned. “Oh really? Didn’t realize. What style are you? My friend Hoodie is coming in for a quick visit. He’s ars based.”
Scar laughed a little. “Is that so? Haven’t seen many of those. I’ve got a mix. Vex magic and crystalline. Cub’s also a user of vex magic.”
Paul nodded. “That’s nice. How many magic users you got around here?”
The hermit mayor started to count on his fingers. “So there’s me and Cub. Pretty sure Stress has some. Cleo’s definitely got some magic. Grian of course. Uh, not sure if Joe does or not. I think Xisuma’s just-”
“Xel- er, Grian’s got some magic?”
“Yeah. And I guess the kids probably do too. Not sure right now.” Scar said, before looking Paul in the eye. “You're not going to freak out about Grian having magic, right? You’ve already got him upset which gets us upset.”
“Yeah, I know.” Paul sighed. “Just been through a lot. I get overly worried sometimes, and to me, I suddenly hear that ‘kid involved in murders is now causing wars in the world my friends are in.’ So yeah, sort of thought the worst.”
Scar inhaled sharply. “Okay, yeah. I can see what made you freak out. But Grian’s fine. He’s been through a lot and while technically he’s caused chaos, it’s never something we hate and normally we’re all in on it somehow.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah, you should hear about the sewer cats.”
“Can’t wait to hear about it. Haven’t seen any letters about it.”
Scar nodded, before being just a little confused. “So, is there a reason you’re always using letters instead of other stuff? I’m sure some of the others could make you something that would work.”
Paul nodded. “I don’t doubt that they could for the most part. I just deal with a lot of factors and have always preferred the tried and true method. I’m all over the place and sometimes I can only really bring along paper.”
“What do you do?” Scar asked, interest piqued.
“Let’s see. Not sure if Phil’s told you, but he used to be king.” Scar nodded. It wasn’t Phil, but Grian had mentioned it. “Well, I’m one as well. Hoodie’s my right hand man and royal mage.”
“Ah, and you said he’s the one visiting?”
“Yeah. So I end up busy there a lot. I also spend a lot of my time visiting my kids so I’m going from world to world. Then, there’s also my wife and she’s in the world we raised the kids in which is essentially my main home.”
“And that’s what?”
“Uh, the same one I found Xe- sorry, Grian in ages ago.” Paul answered. “And I’ve got a job there that doesn’t really work with comms sometimes, but paper is easy enough to have on hand, especially enchanted paper.” And Paul took out a sheet of paper, handing it to Scar.
Scar took the paper and looked it over. As he moved it, he could see how the light caught the slightly physical aspect of the magic, much like how enchantments could be seen. “This looks good. You can hardly see the magic but I can tell it’s there. What all is on here?”
“Mostly stuff to get it to the right recipient and make it illegible if you’re trying to read it and it’s not for you.”
“Ah. That’s a commonly known one for ars mages, right?” Scar asked. “I haven’t heard much about them.”
Paul nodded. “Yeah. That’s due to the mage wars. They happened a number of years back before Hoodie was alive. He’s the main reason things are sort of getting back to normal for those guys.” Paull pulled out an old communicator which looked like it was being held together with duct tape and prayers. “He should be here pretty soon. He said he was only going to get a few books and amulets. And your admin said he would be able to get in.”
Almost as soon as Paul had said something, a message went out that someone new had joined the world. Xisuma sent a message that he would go to help the guest to Aque Town and from there Paul and Scar just waited for the two others to arrive. Xisuma was the first to arrive, gliding down on his elytra. The other person wore a royal purple hooded robe and seemed to arrive with the use of an ender pearl, but Scar didn’t see them use one.
Paul was the first to move, going over to the other person. “Hoodie! You made it!”
With the confirmation that this was the mage coming in, Scar followed along, a bit excited to meet someone new with magic. “Of course Sir. You did ask for my presence.”
Scar watched as Paul put an arm around Hoodie’s shoulder. “You don’t need to be so formal here. In fact, here. This is Scar. He’s the mayor, and based on the kind of place this is, I’d say he’s the local hedgewizard.”
“Ah, I see. It is nice to meet you. My name is Hoodie. I am King Soares’ right hand man and royal mage.”
Scar shook Hoodie’s hand, getting a slight shock. “It’s nice to meet you too. Paul already said I’m Scar. I’m guessing you’re a lightning mage or something?”
Hoodie took his hand back. “Ah, sorry about that. Yes I am. Or at least I specialize in it. Same as my father lest he’s recently changed his affinity.”
“Well I don’t know enough about your kind of magic to know what that really means.”
Paul walked away as the two magic users started to discuss their various forms of magic and wizardry. He needed to find Phil again since the main reason Hoodie was even there was so that Phil could get more of the enchanted paper. Not wanting to drag the mage away, Paul was instead going after his brother since he was the one insisting he wouldn’t take any of it without knowing for sure it was enchanted by Hoodie. After that, Hoodie would help out a bit around the world as repayment for Xisuma letting him on, then the two of them would head back home. At least, that was the plan.
. .
.
Drawing him away from the nest was almost laughably easy. Grian and Mumbo were both asleep and the chicken was theoretically trapped. At least trapped enough it wasn’t going to escape into the room itself. And then it could only see out the window and not into the room which was a big plus. Because of that, it was simple enough to have viridian magic surround the prison and really ensure the chicken wouldn’t be getting out.
“You know.” The person spoke in a whisper, making Grian twitch ever so slightly in his sleep, but not wake up. “You’re really making this far too easy. I thought it would be difficult with those guests of yours here, but it turns out everyone’s distracted by them. And they put you in such a perfect position. Let’s just move you to somewhere a bit more private, hmm?”
Grian of course didn’t wake up, but as the person left, a bit more magic appeared around Grian, and then a few moments later, he woke up with a start. Grian looked around, glad to see there was only Mumbo and a box in the corner. For a moment he was confused about it, but faint clucking from inside helped him figure out what it was. But something still felt off.
Grian went to shake Mumbo awake, but he hesitated a moment before actually waking him up. “Mumbo. Mumbo!” And Mumbo woke up from his name being shouted, looking around to see what was going on. “Mumbo, I think we’ve been up here too long. Something feels wrong.”
Mumbo pulled out his communicator to look at the time. “Oh dear! It does look like we have been here a while. It also looks like someone else has shown up.”
“Really?” Grian asked, pulling his own comm out to look at the message. “There’s no way this person would just happen to show up today of all days for no reason. What if they’re someone else with… I want to check on the kids.”
Mumbo stood up and then helped Grian to his feet. “Don’t worry. I’m sure if anything happened, the other hermits would be taking care of the boys. We can of course check on them, but you don’t want your panic to make them panic.”
Grian nodded and from there the two of them went back down to the ground floor, leaving Kokatori behind. Finding the new person was rather easy as he and Scar were both standing on the street of Aque Town facing each other. Scar was currently donning his wizard robe over his Aque Town outfit. In his hands, he held a number of crystals that Grian thought he was never going to see again.
The other person was wearing a purple robe and held a wand in one hand and a book with a yellow cover in the other. His hood had fallen back slightly, so Grian was able to see as the other person glanced over at him when he got closer. Normally the avian would assume it was just because he was getting close and was noticed, but there was some sort of emotion in the eyes that made Grian worry.
Both of them had their attention pulled away from each other as Scar moved, a yellow glow around him as he moved like he had a speed effect. When he reached the other person, Grian watched as the Scar’s netherite sword struck them, and then a ring of white magic appeared around them, acting as a shield against further attacks.
Realizing at this point that the two were fighting, Grian moved to try and stop them, but then out of nowhere, lightning struck the ground in front of him, making him stop. When Grian looked back up, both mages were looking over to him and then Scar called out. “Hey, don’t worry! We’re just doing some sparring! It was my idea!”
“Are you sure? Who even is this?”
“His name’s Hoodie. Royal mage of Paul it looks like.”
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Grian asked, concerned.
“Yeah, it just sounds like he was jumping to conclusions when he saw you. I’m sure it’s going to be fine if you talk to him again.”
Grian wasn’t completely convinced, but pretended enough for Scar to look back at Hoodie and then continue their sparring. Slowly, the avian started moving to where everyone else probably was, still in the party building. Mumbo followed him along, but eventually he passed Grian when the builder decided to actually watch the magic battle.
Scar seemed to mainly be using regular combat, but enhanced by his crystals which actually seemed to be doing something. Hoodie, on the other hand, was using his wand and casting a number of spells from his book. At one point, Grian watched the mage fumble a little bit to pull out a book with a green cover before casting a new spell that he hadn’t used yet.
Grian didn’t realize he was just standing there alone, and the magicians weren’t really paying much attention to him, but in the span of a few seconds, that all changed. To anyone watching, it would seem like it happened all at once, but really it was just one thing after the other.
Grian was barely aware of the space around him getting the slightest tint of green to it. As soon as that had happened, Hoodie turned away from Scar and instead faced Grian, pulling out a new red spell book. Scar was the next to react, still under the effects of his yellow crystal. He started to pull out a red crystal, accidentally pulling a pink one out at the same time. He threw them towards Grian just as Hoodie began to cast some magic aimed at Grian, but also in the direction of what would be in the path of the crystals.
Seeing multiple things coming his way, Grian started to panic, wings moving to act as a shield since he currently wasn’t holding one. As they moved, the tips of his wings started to change from red to purple, the shift in color working its way to the base of the wings. He couldn’t react fast enough to block everything, but the magic hit both of the crystals, making them shatter into dust. The pink and red dust didn’t completely stay their original colors, some of them charred by the magic attack that hit them, but each tiny piece seemed to glow with its own energy, and even with the, being broken so small, when the cluster hit Grian, there was enough force to make him crash to the ground.
For everyone not watching at that moment in time, they simply heard a large crack of thunder at the same time there was shattering glass, followed by screaming from Grian. Within a matter of seconds, people were racing out of the nearby building, there to see what had happened.
When people got out onto the street, Scar was yelling at Hoodie. “What was that?! Grian wasn’t involved! I thought I could actually- I can’t see why Bdubs actually trusted- I’m guessing he’s changed a lot since-”
“Please, I was just trying to defend myself. He was about to attack me. Didn’t you see it?”
“He was just watching us!”
“No. Your back was turned so you maybe didn’t see it.”
“I should have used a brown crystal too. What kind of spell was that?!” As they yelled, Xisuma was the first to get over to the pair to try and figure out what was going on, getting an answer from Scar. “That Paul guy’s mage just attacked Grian! If I hadn’t done something, it might have killed him!”
“What?” Paul asked, coming over. “Hoodie what just happened?”
The mage looked over to Paul, ignoring Scar and X. “Sir, the hedgewizard and I were simply having a duel to see each other's magic skills. As we battled, this avian mage came by and tried to stop us once. Of course Scar was able to prevent that the first time, but then the mage tried to cast a spell of attack. I was already using a spell to help my reaction time, as was the wizard here, so I began to cast a counterspell. At first I thought Scar was also about to assist me, but instead he seemed to try and stop my spell, causing our magic to collide. It seems to have still-” Hoodie tried to continue, but Paul held up a hand to stop him.
Paul then tried to speak himself, but then his shoulder was ground and he was whirled around by Phil. “Paul, what the fuck? Did you just have your wizard attack Grian?”
“What? No, of course I wouldn’t! It sounds like Grian was trying to attack Hoodie and he defended himself.”
“Yeah sure. Mate, just tell me the truth.”
“I’m just telling you what Hoodie told me. I know just as much as you do at this point other than what he told me.”
Again, the conversation was cut off by Mumbo speaking up, having joined the group. “Grian’s really hurt. His breathing is off and it looks like his wings were hurt enough for them to shift away. There’s also something else, but I can’t place it. Xisuma, can you look at him?”
Everyone moved out of the way for the admin to head towards Grian, but as soon as he took a step, everyone had their comms buzz with two messages. Xisuma peeked over the crowd to look where Grian had been a minute ago. He wasn’t currently lying there, but neither were any items that signified him having died and respawned. That could have been because he had nothing on him at the point, which was unlikely, but could have been what happened.
That being said, the shocked gasps from people who were looking at their comms didn’t assure Xisuma, so the admin pulled up the chat logs on his helmet. Instead of there being a death message for Grian, there were two messages of people leaving the world.
The_Grifter left the world Xelqua left the world.

no, you know what, next chapter now! remember this is chapter 3 of this war arc thing so if you didn’t read chapter 2 since i posted it like 5ish hours ago, go read that first. look! here’s some links!
Chap 1 Chap 2
Hey, can you tell I like grian? cause today i’m using Avian!Grian, Watcher!Grian and Triplet!Grian all together.
Next chapter is gonna be a flashback based loosely on the fic @strawberrylemonz wrote of the triplets in the Antarctic empire.
but for now, have a sprinkling of angst. or maybe more than just a sprinkling.
When Tommy opened his eyes again, he found himself with all the Hermits in the town hall. A few Hermits that were already there like Zedaph brought out potions and food and other items for everyone to recover. Nearby Grian was shaking out the water that got on his wings from the emergency button being used.
“How’re ya doing Big G?” Tommy asked as he walked over, grabbing another mask of his own face from the table.
“Fine, what about you Tommy?”
“Dream kinda saw me right before the button got pressed. But he didn’t get a chance to hit me.” Immediately Grian was acting like a mother hen towards him and Tommy had to push the avian away. “Grian! I’m fine!”
“Are you sure? Because Techno and d- Philza were also there.”
“Yeah, I heard you confronted them.” Tommy softened his voice, noticing the look of pain on Grian’s face.
“Neither of them recognized me. I mean, it makes sense since it’s been so long for me and I look so… different.”
Tommy hugged Grian. He didn’t believe it when he learned that this was his missing older brother, but when Grian used his real name, something he shouldn’t have known, Tommy changed his mind. “Hey, c’mon, once this is all over you can brag about being the oldest now.”
Grian laughed and ruffled Tommy’s hair. “Yeah, and you look as old as Techno did out there.”
“No I don’t, he’s an old fart!” Tommy complained. “I’m still a teen!”
“You’re twenty-one!”
“I’m a child!”
Grian laughed. When Tommy had first shown up, he did everything to seem older than he was, now he refused to admit he’d grown up. “C’mon, let’s just-” He was cut off by a buzzing from their communicators. The two of them looked around and noticed the other hermits were doing the same. Everyone was here, so it couldn’t be a death message.
Xisuma tapped his helmet and everyone saw the glow of him looking at the communications chat. “Iskall, someone named Fundy is saying they’re at your tree.”
The redstoner immediately messed with his robotic eye to look at his own chat. His other eye widened and he equipped his elytra. “I’m going to go after him. I doubt it would be an ambush, there’s no way they could have gotten a whole group there while we were fighting.”
Rendog also put his elytra on. He said he would go with Iskall as some extra muscle just to be safe. The two of them flew off, careful to stay out of range of anyone in Dream’s army before heading toward the Omega Tree.
“Hey, now that they know I’m here, should we use me more as bait?” Tommy spoke up, causing Grian to pull him closer.
“Absolutely not. Any mistake and you could be captured!”
Before Tommy could complain, False spoke up. “Actually, it’s a good plan. You helped him learn to fly so he’s great at it. He’ll have no trouble escaping into the air. And he can also set up another pearl if they do capture him. Someone can watch in the sky and send word if he needs rescue.”
“But what if he-” Grian tried to speak up, but Tommy stopped him.
“Grian, I know these people. It would work. And I know how to get out of tough situations. And I’m not going to be the only one down there. Doesn’t make sense to send me there alone.
Reluctantly, Grian let Tommy go. The blond smiled and then gave his brother one last hug before pulling his mask on and leaving with a group of Hermits. All of them placed ender pearls in the emergency button and then left the town hall through bubble columns. Grian watched them go before following behind to be their eyes in the sky. Cub came with him, his vex wings still there from his earlier confrontation with Dream.
When the Hermits suddenly reappeared, Dream was ready for them. Instead of an axe, he held a sword. Whenever a Hermit got close, he would injure them and then use the long blade to pull off or break their mask. Tommy was going to be there, under one of those masks. And when Dream saw his sorry face next, he would drag the teen back home.
Dream heard a grunt from behind him and glanced back to see Philza with his weapon clashing with a hermit’s sword. Even with the mask, Dream could see the silver hair of said hermit. Dream may not have been familiar with their enemy as much as he wished, but there was one well known name he recognized. Etho. While Philza was a man who had lived years on hardcore, Etho had been living on a single world for longer. Both were very experienced men.
In his distraction, a hermit attacked Dream. He deflected their attack but in the process managed to hinder his teammate and suddenly Philza was killed. Dream attacked back, and while the Hermit who attacked him got away, Etho did not, having been left on a single heart when Phil died, only being alive from Dream’s mistake.
But he didn’t have time to dwell as more attacks came from the hermits. Once they had defeated these people, he could take over as admin and bring them back.
Philza gasped as he woke up on the bed, energy flowing through him from respawning. It wasn’t something he was used to, and before he almost didn’t link with the bed. When he started to get up, he heard rustling and immediately turned to fight. But no one was there, which was fine as his death had left him with no gear. Phil could hear fighting from outside the building and he quickly looked in the various chests for anything.
Philza ended up breaking part of the building for sticks and made himself a sword with the diamonds they found earlier, even finding more of the gem in chests they hadn’t bothered to check before. It wasn’t enough for a full set of gear, but it was enough. The only problem was trying to put on his chestplate, Phil finally noticed what happened.
It was impossible. They had been too damaged and the last time he had to respawn, nothing had happened. But there, right on his back were his wings, undamaged. Not a single feather was harmed or scorched or missing.
A shout from outside drew Philza’s attention back to the battle. He nearly put his wings away to put on his chest plate when he remembered how their enemy had elytra. He was the only one on their side who could fly. Phil stored the chest plate in a nearby barrel for later and left the building through the open roof. None of the hermits seemed to notice him until it was too late and his weapon cut into them. There were one or two of those from the smp who attacked him before realizing who exactly they were seeing, but otherwise, the reappearance of his wings was appreciated.
When Tommy saw his dad in the air, he couldn’t help but stare for a moment. He had told Xisuma about the situation of his dad. At first he thought that Philza had completely lost his wings, which would make sense why a respawn couldn’t help. But since he still had them, the admin was able to set a trigger for the avian’s wings to heal when he respawned. It was a risk that could help Dream, but Tommy hoped that the return of Phil’s wings would help him switch sides.
The sight invigorated Tommy and he was slashing at his old friends left and right. He managed to catch sight of False nearby and Techno fighting so he moved over to assist her. It was perfect timing as False managed to be cornered and Techno proclaimed the kill for the blood god just before Tommy could manage to remove the weapon from his brother’s hand.
“Leave her alone.” Tommy said as Techno glared up at him. He had hit a growth spurt while in hermitcraft and his voice deepened, so Tommy wasn’t surprised that his brother didn’t recognise him. Behind him False got up and ate a gold apple as well as splashing a potion over her own head, a bit of the liquid managing to splash onto Tommy, giving him a few seconds of healing.
But as Tommy stood to cover his head, Dream joined next to Techo and sliced the mask off Tommy’s face. When it fell, Tommy could clearly see the slight surprise on Techno’s face. While the warrior wasn’t that expressive, growing up with him made it easier for Tommy to read his face. Dream on the other hand grinned so large his smile could be seen out the sides of his mask.
Before Tommy could react, his arm was grabbed in a crushing grip from Dream. False in a panic simply yelled Tommy’s name, which ended up bringing the attention of the rest of the SMP members.
False swung her sword at Dream, giving Tommy just enough of a gap to use a firework and launch himself into the air. Dream called for the smp members to focus on Tommy and suddenly arrows were flying at him. With another rocket he flew further into the air. Looking down, Tommy saw an arrow coming towards him. He attempted to dodge, but it clipped his elytra, leaving a small tear in one wing.
A few more arrows also managed to reach him. When he wasn’t sure he could dodge them, the blond tried to make sure they directly hit him. Tommy had plenty of healing items and had nice armor, but if his elytra were too damaged, no amount of armor would help a fall like that.
Then, the thing he feared most happened. As he flew, rain started to fall. A few moments later there was the sound of a riptide trident being used. He turned to see Punz, having used his trident to get just close enough then he pulled out a crossbow and shot it. There was no time for Tommy to react and it went through one wing of his elytra. As Punz descended, Tommy tried to use fireworks to push him towards the ocean, but in his panic, all he did was push himself further up into the air. And then the elytra gave up on him and Tommy started to fall.
Philza heard the noise of a trident as the rain started to fall. He looked around in the air just in time to see Punz’s arrow destroy Tommy’s elytra followed by what sounded like Tommy calling for help. While he had trouble getting used to flying again after months of being grounded, Phil immediately flapped his wings as hard and as fast as he could. He refused to lose another child. So he pushed himself to get to Tommy before the worst could happen.
Grian wasn’t sure how he missed Tommy flying into the air, but he didn’t miss his brother screaming his name. He looked down to see Tommy falling, his elytra in shreds. He saw another avian flying towards his fallen brother. Grian knew that he was the only avian of the hermits so this other person had to be working with Dream.
As Grian pulled his wings in to dive towards Tommy, he realized he wouldn’t be able to make it. Sure there was enough time to reach Tommy before he hit the ground, but not enough before Tommy was grabbed by the other avian. As he continued to fall, Grian closed his eyes. He searched for something he buried deep inside himself. The red, yellow and blue feathers on his wings changed to purple, black and salt & pepper. When he next opened his eyes, there were 6 of them, all glowing a purple color. He opened his wings once more and gave a mighty flap, sending magical energy out through them and creating what sounded like thunder as the expelled energy propelled him faster towards Tommy.
Just before the other avian could reach his brother, Grian’s arms wrapped around Tommy and the wings wrapped around both of them. He didn’t have enough time to use more energy and teleport them away or slow them down, so he just braced himself. Then they hit the ground, all the force going into Grian’s wings. It was painful, but right now he didn’t care. The adrenalin from nearly losing Tommy was kicking in and the pain made his mind hazy.
The powers he had gained from being a watcher were dangerous and something he usually kept blocked off so he wouldn’t lose himself in it, but right now, with his current state, he wasn’t thinking of that, and slowly the previously locked away powers grew more dangerous and tempting.
Dream held his breath as Tommy fell. He didn’t want them to have come all this way for Tommy to lose his last life here. Luckily Phil was in the air, racing towards his son. He was sure that the Avian would reach Tommy until there was the sound of thunder and the sky lit up with a purple light. The figure that was lit up made his blood run cold. No. It wasn’t possible. A watcher. And not just any watcher. The Dreamslayer himself was a watcher. In a way it made sense how this would be the one person who seemed to be able to kill him, but knowing the full power he held was not a happy thought.
Dream managed to get his army to retreat just far enough in time that no one ended up in the destruction of Grian crash landing. Everyone stared, no one moved. Even the Hermits looked terrified of their own ally. Phil landed safely and tried to move to the crater, but Dream grabbed him. Techno was the next to move as The wings parted revealing Tommy hidden beneath them. Again, Dream tried to stop him, but Techno was further than Phil had been. While Techno had recently been staying out of things, Dream didn’t want to lose someone who was so good at making his stories perfect.
Techno held out his axe, ready to strike Grian, but the avian watcher just grabbed the blade of the axe. His head looked up and all six eyes focused on the weapon, each of them blinking out of sync. He only stopped looking when Tommy groaned, while he was physically uninjured, the rush of falling and the rapid pressure changes as well as the energy from Grian had caused him to pass out.
Techno pulled his weapon back, unsure if he should strike again. Half of the voices were telling him to attack and kill this person who took his brother, but the other half seemed to actually want him to stop. But the first half was louder and he swung the axe down again. Time seemed to slow down as he saw the supposed avian look back up and smile hauntingly. He resolved himself and cried out, “Blood for the Blood God!” as he put more force into the swing.
The moment the axe blade hit Grian’s skull, it shattered. Around them people started moving. A quick glance let Techno see the Hermits moving the smp army away, trying to protect their enemies. Looking back at his own enemy, Techno was met with Grian standing up. He spoke, but instead of his own voice, Grian spoke in Techno’s voice. He parroted the line the pvper had just spoken, only saying it louder and louder.
“Blood for the Blood God! Blood for the Blood God!!! Blood for the Blood God!!!” And then, in his normal voice, he shouted once more. “BLOOD FOR ME!!!”

john mulaney voice: Hey... What's [this story] is a lot LONGER than I first thought. that being said, this chapter itself is shorter than the others.
Before Tubbo could say anything, Tommy was in the air, a trail of smoke from his firework left behind. He held a sword in hand and flew towards where the summoned monsters were. As he reached them, Tommy saw another Hermit also in the air. “Scar? Did you summon these?”
“What?! I would never. I thought it was you or Grian!” The mayor responded, offended that Tommy would think such a thing of him.
“No way. How about we take care of them before we figure out who made them.” Tommy suggested and Scar nodded, the two of them diving at the withers, getting their attention and drawing their fire. It went well. Though there were three withers firing at the two of them, Scar and Tommy focused on damaging one of the three while dodging the rest of the attacks. When they killed the first one, Tommy dove to grab the nether star. He caught it before it reached the ground, but it was close enough he could see the damaged terrain. Another hermit was below, sword out as they fought someone with an axe. Someone Tommy recognized.
The wither sounds above filtered into Tommy’s mind as he remembered before. Back on the SMP. “You want to be a hero Tommy? Then die like one!” He didn’t realize his grip on the nether star loosen, or the fact that he was currently plummeting to the ground. “Chaos!” He was trying to find everyone. Where had they- “TOMMY!”
Tommy snapped out of it, looking for wherever Tubbo was, why he had shouted, and then he saw the ground. The island rushing closer towards him. He fumbled with his items before grabbing his fireworks just in time to launch himself back into the air. He stared down at the ground once more, trying to find Tubbo, before items started raining from above. “No! Scar!” And he flew back up towards the withers.
One of the withers was slowly falling back down to the ground, Scar having gotten it to half its health on his own. And that was with him not being a fighter like Tommy. He slashed at the wither until it died before flying further up and attacking the final of the monsters. It got a number of attacks to hit Tommy and the teen quickly flew higher, far enough away to quickly down some golden carrots and make sure he wasn’t killed as well. After a few more attacks, the final wither was also killed and Tommy started back down to the ground. He quickly pulled out his comm and read the death messages that were reported.
GoodtimeswithScar was shot by a skull from Wither
Keralis was slain by Technoblade
GoodtimeswithScar was slain by Technoblade
GoodtimeswithScar was slain by Technoblade
GoodtimeswithScar went off with a bang
BdoubleO100 went off with a bang
Renthedog went off with a bang
Jrumbot went off with a bang
Looking back at the ground as he put the comm away again, Tommy could see the fading colors of fireworks being launched. He dove down, even using a firework of his own to get there quicker, but as the smoke cleared, he pulled back to slow his descent. On the ground Grian was fighting Technoblade and holding his own, sword parrying the blows from Techno’s axe.
Tommy scanned the rest of the area. Tubbo was on the ground a number of blocks away, coughing from the smoke. Phil was nearby, but couldn’t move due to some of the debris managing to have landed on one of his wings. While Tommy wanted to help Grian out, he didn’t look like he needed it as much as Tubbo and Philza did, so he changed his path to go in their direction.
“Tubbo, are you okay?!” Tommy asked as he landed, quickly helping his friend up. Tubbo tried to speak, but instead it all came out as coughing. “Just go to town hall.” Tommy pointed at the large building on a nearby hill. “I know it’s gonna sound weird, but find the cat there and hold onto her for dear life! Got it?” Tubbo was hesitant at first, but then nodded and ran towards the building.
Tommy ran the opposite way over to Phil and helped him out of the rubble. He had to be a little careful with breaking everything so he didn’t hurt his dad, but it wasn’t the hardest material to deal with, so freeing the avian wasn’t too difficult of a task. “Was that Techno? How’d he get here?”
“Dunno.” Tommy answered, helping his dad to his feet. “He’s fighting Grian right now, so we better stop them.”
Phil nodded and the two of them ran towards where Grian and Techno were still fighting. Grian was looking very angry, to the point where he seemed to be using some Watcher magic at least slightly as his wings were their alternate colors and he had more than just one pair of eyes.
“It won’t matter once you’re dead!” Were the first words Tommy could make out, the sentence coming from Techno.
“I don’t plan on dying for good anytime soon. You, on the other hand, will probably wish you could die.”
“Grian!” Tommy shouted, and the Watcher looked away from Techno and up at Tommy. The piglin hybrid tried at use that as an opening to attack, but Grian hadn’t completely looked away since he could control his various eyes independently. “Techno! Stop fighting him! Even if you win it’s not going to end well!”
But Techno ignored Tommy and attacked once more. Grian pulled his shield up to block the attack, but the axe didn’t connect. In all of the commotion, no one saw someone new enter the area until now. All eyes were on Grumbot as he had stopped the axe with a hand and then pulled it out of Techno’s hands. “Hello Uncle Technoblade.”
Everything was quiet. Tommy was pretty sure the robot was doing the same thing as when Grian and Phil had been fighting, shocking them into doing nothing. But Techno wasn’t Phil. He pulled out another crossbow and aimed it at Grum. Tommy shouted as he watched as the trigger was pulled.
Tommy ran toward where they had stood. His comm buzzing in his pocket. He couldn’t see the messages, but he knew what they were.
Grumbot went off with a bang
Grian went off with a bang
Technoblade was slain by Tommyinnit
Tommy panted, unmoving as he just held his sword in place, the blade left where Techno had been standing moments before. For a moment he was glad, but then he panicked. Had Techno gone back to the SMP when he was killed? Was he back at spawn? Was he nowhere and gone from existence? His comm buzzed again and Tommy immediately pulled it out.
Xisuma was slain by Technoblade
Okay, at the very least now he knew Techno had respawned. The question is where Xisuma was. His best guess was the spawn island since at least with Tubbo, Phil and himself, they were brought by Grian. Tommy took a moment to catch his breath slightly before rocketing back up into the air and heading to spawn. On his way there, he saw a boat heading towards the main island, so Tommy dove down towards it. “Technoblade!”
The hybrid looked up just in time to see Tommy land into the boat with a ‘thunk’ making it shake and letting a little bit of water come over the sides. “Tommy.”
“Oh my god is that Xisuma’s gear?”
Techno looked down at himself before looking back to the main spawn area. “If you mean the guy that was over there when I respawned, yeah.” Techno huffed. “Now I think you should get out of this boat before I make you.”
“No. You need to hear me out first.”
“No I don’t. You were helping the guys that kidnapped you and Phil. He said that guy was a Watcher. Phil told us stories about them growing up.”
Tommy crossed his arms. “He told you and Wil those stories. He never told me any of those. Plus, they were wrong.”
“You honestly expect me to believe you after you’ve been living with them for months?” Techno growled, moving his stolen weapon closer to Tommy.
“I believe them because they’re family.”
“We’re your family Tommy.”
“So’s Xelqua.”
Techno’s eyes widened and the sword lowered just enough from his shock that Tommy quickly stole it away before showing it into the water. “Did you just say that to-”
Tommy shook his head. “No! Of course not! It’s a plus, but I’m telling the truth. Dad knows too. None of use were sure at first, not even him. Like you said, I’ve been living with them for months, but until yesterday we didn’t know.”
“Then for all we know he’s lying. Or maybe he’s not really someone to trust.”
Tommy just sighed. “Can we just fucking go back to the spawn area so X can get his shit back? While we’re there I can tell everyone else what’s going on.”
Reluctantly Techno agreed and turned the boat around just as Xisuma was arriving with his emergency bee elytra out from his suit.
“Alright, give him his fucking stuff back.” Tommy said as he pushed Techno out of the boat, making the hybrid grumble and take off the pilfered armor and other gear. “Alright then. Techno, this is Xisuma. He’s the admin of the server. He’s not like Dream but can be so much worse if you give him any reason to.”
Xisuma tilted his head slightly at the unfamiliar name, but mostly ignored it to take his items back. “I would welcome you to the server, but it seems you’ve already made yourself known.”
Techno huffed. “Yeah, just tell me where Phil is and I’ll be on my way.”
“Bitch what about Xel?”
“I doubt he wants to go back with us.”
“Hey I’m not fucking leaving. And I’m not sure Phil is either.”
“Why wouldn’t he?”
“He’ll want to stay with Grian for a bit probably.” Techno raised an eyebrow at Tommy. “He changed his name to Grian ages ago. Don’t know the full details though. He only really ever said he got bullied for it growing up and changed it in highschool or some shit.”
“Fine, I guess we’re staying here a bit.” Techno crossed his arms before getting back in the boat.
“Um, I seem to be missing my sword still.” Xisuma piped up, and Tommy jabbed his finger in the direction they came from. X nodded when he saw it floating on the surface of the water and flew over to grab the weapon.
While he did that, Tommy jumped back in the boat and rowed with Techno back to the island, going right up to Tommy’s beach area. Phil and Tubbo were both there, Tubbo with a certain gray striped cat in their lap.
The moment they reached land, Techno got out of the boat and walked over to Philza, who handed him the gear he lost when Tommy managed to kill him. “Is what Tommy said true? About Xel?”
Phil nodded. “Yeah. In fact he’s the Watcher that showed up. He’s gone through a lot since we last saw him.”
“How do we know we can trust him.”
Phil looked off to the side. “Well, he’s done better for Tommy than we did.”
The two of them were quiet to the point where Tommy broke the silence by going over to Tubbo. “Ey Tubzo, looks like you and Jellie are getting along. Very cool, very cool. She’s not upset at you bringing her along?”
Tubbo shook their head. “No, I tried to leave her back in that big building but she followed behind me.”
“Yeah, she sort of has a mind of her own. Grian’s not even completely sure she’s really a cat.” Tommy then looked up as he noticed something in the sky. “Speaking of which, looks like that’s him.”
The others also looked skyward and saw the bright red wings of Grian spread out as he was gliding. The avian noticed the group and pulled them in, diving down. However, shortly after doing that, Tommy watched as Grian pulled out a sword. The moment he landed on the ground, the blade was against Techno’s throat, Grian glaring up at his taller brother, his eyes red and puffy.
“Grian! Stop stop stop stop! That’s Technoblade, that’s Technoblade!” Tommy rushed over and tried to stop Grian but the avian pushed Tommy to the side.
“I don’t care who he is! He killed them and they’re not respawning!” Grian shouted, pressing the blade further, drawing a few drops of blood.
Tommy took a slight step back. “Wait, who? What do you mean? What happened?” But he was pretty sure he knew. Tommy saw the death messages. Scar was obviously respawning, and the other hermits would too. But two of those on the list wouldn’t.
“What are you talking about?” Techno looked down, showing no emotion to Grian.
“You killed my kids!” Grian yelled at him. “They’re dead and they’re not coming back! And it’s all your fault!”
It looked like Grian wanted to yell even more, but Philza grabbed him in a hug and the younger avian just dissolved into crying. Tommy and Techno met eyes, and even the powerful Technoblade flinched at the glare he received from his youngest brother.
Back on the SMP, Ghostbur kept floating around where the people had been before. He couldn’t quite remember why they had disappeared. He remembered something big with wings. He was pretty sure it was a giant bird. It looked kind of like his dad! And Tommy had been there too, but then everyone but Technoblade left. And then even Techno had left. Ghostbur was pretty sure he was supposed to stay there, but he wasn’t sure.
Then suddenly he felt something. As a ghost, he didn’t have access to a communicator, so the supernatural powers that allowed him to exist as a ghost also allowed him to interact with what would be the chat. So he was very aware when some people showed up. And since his friends and family had left, that had to be them coming back! It was a little strange they weren’t right there, but maybe they were just back where everyone else appears. Yeah, that was probably it!
Ghostbur went back towards spawn, ready to see Phil and Technoblade and Tommy. And he was happy to see there was someone right where there should be. Two someones in fact. But they seemed a little short. Techno and Tommy were tall, so it couldn’t be them, and Philza was short, but not that short. So that must mean it was someone completely different.
“Hello there! I’m Ghostbur!”
The two new people jumped slightly before turning to look at him. “Oh! H-Hi!”
“Who are you two? Unless we’ve already met. I don’t think we have, but I also have trouble remembering so maybe we have!”
“No, we have not met you before. I do not believe the two of us have even been to this world before. Can you tell us where we are?”
“Oh! You’re in the Dream SMP!” Ghostbur answered, just as one of the two newcomers checked what they had in place of a communicator.

Well, so far Grifter’s just been playing around. Now he’s going to start showing just what he can do and why he was locked up by the helsmits. ‘spoiler’: it involves tearing up the DSMP
@petrichormeraki and @helleborusangel (plz it’s been a week and a half, where are youuuuuu i worry)
“Where are you going?” Techno asked as Tommy put on his borrowed gear. It had still been left in a nearby chest when it was taken off, so it was easy to find.
“I’m going to help Grian.” Tommy answered, adjusting his elytra. “The more help he gets, the better.”
“What makes you think you can help? Or at least help out better than me.”
Tommy half shrugged, more focused on getting ready. “I probably can’t help better than you, but Grian’s out there so he can’t make a portal back to Hermitcraft. Meanwhile you managed to get there on your own. If Grifter is as bad as he sounds, we’ll need more help. I mean, we had some trouble taking you down, and he’s apparently worse.”
“So I’m just supposed to leave and get help?”
Tommy stood up, all his gear ready. “Yeah. One thing I learned from the hermits is that even if you’re good at one thing, you should try other shit. You’re good at combat, so now it’s time to try something else.”
“That’s stupid.” Techno huffed.
“Yeah, but it’s still a good lesson.”
Grum wriggled and escaped Techno’s arms. “I’m helping to!”
“No, you’re still damaged and also a fucking kid.” Tommy argued, but that just made Grum cross his arms.
“I have an advanced combat program plus a ‘chat’ that should be able to assist me. If Techno is getting help, he doesn’t need help getting help. So I’m helping my dad!”
Tommy tried to complain, but Techno stopped him. “I saw him in action. I’m pretty sure he’s better than you. Besides, you’re still technically a kid too.”
“”Hey! I’m a big man!”
“Sure, sure. Here.” Techno pulled out a netherite sword and axe, then handed them to Grum. “I’d give you my armor too, but I doubt it fits.”
“Someone’s got a favorite nephew~”
“Oh shut up.”
“We’ve got a plan! Let’s go!” Grum grabbed Tommy’s arm and started dragging him away in the direction Grian had gone. They only got a few steps before the ground shook from a large explosion. It made Tommy freeze before making sure Grum and Techno were okay, glad to see they were fine. At least, as fine as they had been.
“Okay maybe this is a bad idea.” Tommy tried once more to stop Grum, but the bot just pushed forward.
“Then I’ll just ask for an upper hand on the way there. But you are not changing my mind.” The bot crossed his arms, making Tommy sigh.
“Fine, but try not to get killed. You’re the one that can revive people.”
“If that is a concern, then here.” Grum tossed the revival book to Techno. “Keep that with you, and should I die and not be able to respawn, it can be used on me. The same goes for anyone else who may end up with the same problem.”
Techno hesitated before answering. “Alright fine, just don’t get Phil killed.”
“Not planning on it.” Tommy replied for Grum, and then the two of them were off.
.
.
.
Grifter twirled a finger and a spike of bedrock erupted from the ground, joining the others he had created. He frowned at how much energy it was taking, but at the very least, though it was slow, he was making a wall around the place. “There’s no way he can ignore this, right? Ugh, who am I kidding, I need Tommy first. Well, that should at least draw everyone else nearby so I should start to divide and conquer.”
Grifter pulled his wings in close, letting him start diving towards the ground. He kept his eyes out for anyone and then smiled as something caught his eye. Double checking that he still had enough magic disguising himself, Grifter changed his course and aimed for the elder avian he had spotted.
“Now let’s see, would he call him Dadza? Hmm, unlikely. Just Dad? Or maybe Phil? Nah, let’s just go with… Dad!” Grifter landed, making sure to be panting. “Are you alright? I saw those spikes appearing, and then saw you and-”
“I’m fine, just got split up from everyone else when one showed up underneath us. Tommy and Techno are with your kid, so you should probably go after them.”
Grifter held in a smile. Now he could find Tommy. “Where are they?”
“Bad’s mansion. At least assuming the place is still standing. It doesn’t look like these things have gotten that far but-”
“They haven’t, don’t worry!” Grifter smiled sweetly. “And thank you very much for the information! I’ll come back for you later I think!”
Before Phil could react, Grifter’s illusion disappeared as he used the magic to make a sphere of bedrock, trapping the avian within it. The Listener almost flew away right then, but then snapped his fingers. “There, now you shouldn’t try to get out.”
Inside the sphere, four end crystals had appeared. With the close quarters, Phil could barely move without setting one of them off, so he hugged the wall of his new prison, doing his best not to move.
Grifter flew up into the air and started looking around. “Mansion, mansion. Ugh, nothing looks mansion-y enough. Why can’t they make things bigger h- oh hello~” Grifter spotted the bright pink metal of Tommy’s sword from a mile away. Looking around more, it didn’t look like Grian was anywhere nearby, but he didn’t quite have the magic to spend yet. Instead, he circled high in the sky, watching the pair below him until he could disguise himself again.
It took a could of minutes, but finally Grifter had enough magic. The act he would put on would be easy of course, he just needed to act like a concerned parent, and he had seen Wile do that plenty. “What are you two doing?!”
“We came to help you out G.” Tommy replied, having nearly fallen over at the avian’s sudden arrival. “I would've thought you’d have gotten further.”
“He’s been using a lot of magic. There are these giant spikes of bedrock everywhere. I can’t get around safely with them showing up.” Grifter turned to look at Grum. “And what about you? You’re still hurt. You-” He didn’t have time to react as a sword sliced into him, hitting his arm.
“You’ll have to try better than that.” Grumbot looked up, revealing his screen which was picturing the symbol of the watchers, making Grifter take a step back. “You’ve still got scarlet wings. They’d be purple at this point.”
Grifter glanced back. His wings looked like Grian’s but he hadn’t realized that he ever changed how they look. Well, now that he needed the extra magic, Grifter let the illusion fade away. “Hmm, good eye. Well, I’ll just have to make this quick.”
The ground rumbled, and while he couldn’t make another spike, a sheet of bedrock divided Tommy and Eyes, splitting them up. Grifter grabbed Tommy’s arm and pulled him closer, ready to fly away with him when the bedrock broke. “Tsk, right. Watchers use bedrock too.”
“Watchers? So then-” Tommy started looking around for Grian, but instead, all he saw was Grumbot. “Wait, but- And he-? But how?”
“Who cares! I don’t need him.” Grifter shrugged, putting a sword to Tommy’s neck. “Let me leave and he won’t d-”
Eyes just threw a piece of bedrock at Grifter. “You want him alive, you’re not gonna kill him.”
Grifter frowned for a moment before smiling. “And you either don’t have magic or can’t use it. Hah, I didn’t even need to threaten him.” He spread his wings and held onto Tommy, Eyes running to try and grab them. But before the bot could reach them, Grifter was back in the air.
“Holy fuck! No no no no! This is so much worse than when Grian does it!”
“Oh shut up, I’m not going to drop you. Unless you keep struggling that is.” After Grifter had said that, Tommy froze up, leaving the Listener laughing. “Sooo… I’m hoping Nightmare will want to come after you, but others might as well. Who should I be looking out for?”
“Like I’d fucking tell yo- AHHHH!” Tommy started to say before he was falling, Grifter having let go of him. He was getting close to the ground when he was caught again, Grifter giving a chirping laugh. “Don’t fucking do that!”
“Then tell me what I want to know. It’s not that hard to comply, is it?” Grifter asked, threatening to drop Tommy again. “Oh, but that does remind me, I already took care of Dadza, or at least the one here.”
“You killed Phil?!” Tommy shouted. He would attack Grifter if he didn’t want to fall again.”
“Oh no, if he dies, it’s his own fault. I just trapped him for a bit.” Grifter explained, dipping just enough in their flight for the point of a bedrock spike to hit Tommy’s leg, making it bleed and Grifter laugh. “There, now you won’t be running away.”
“You’re a goddamn fucking bitch.”
“I know!” Grifter replied cheerily, a big smile on his face. “Oh look, we’re here!”
Tommy looked down to see Eret’s castle which was in the middle of the wall of bedrock spikes. The flag on top had been torn down and in place of the flagpole was some sort of giant redstone machine.
They landed nearby, Tommy being dropped before they touched down. It wasn’t enough of a fall to kill him, but it still hurt. Getting up also wasn’t the best because he couldn’t put much pressure on his leg, and even though he should be regening health, nothing was healing.
“You look tired.” Tommy recognized what was almost Mumbo’s voice. “Do you need help down to the throne?”
“I think your arms are the best throne for me~” Tommy tried not to gag at the flirting. “But I wouldn’t mind it. He’ll probably only believe what he sees with his own eyes and Tommy is definitely not Theseus. And I used so much magic making the wall.” Grifter pouted before Sense picked him up.
“Spare a little bit for a cuff for him and I can carry you down. The former king is currently occupying the cell I made. He’s much tougher than he looks. Related to Jhost of all people, or whatever he’s called here.”
Grifter frowned. “Aww, but that means we can’t kill him. That’s not fair.” He crossed his arms. “Okay, fine. I can still do that.” And then with a quick wave of his hand, some chains appeared and Tommy's good leg was trapped. He watched as the hels pair left, leaving him to try and break the metal, but he had no luck.

As soon as Grifter had gotten into the air with Tommy, Eyes started running behind them. They were slowly losing ground due to the uneven terrain tripping them up and the fact that Grifter had a clear path from flying. Eventually they lost the pair when they tripped and fell into a large crater, likely a creeper hole.
Eyes winced, holding the new crack on their body. It had formed right over the trident holes since they were already a weak point, and now that place was even more vulnerable. “Ah crap. Oh buzz off, last I checked it wasn’t a-” Eyes sharply inhaled as they stood up. “Fine, if you want to complain, you can come out here. Who cares if it isn’t healthy? We are currently in a life or death situation.” Eyes pulled themselves out of the hole, looking around. “He made a backup of the world, and those spikes in the distance definitely weren’t there a week ago. Grifter’s gonna destroy this place. We need to get Tommy and everyone else out of here before that happens. ...Oh shut up! I’m the one in charge of the Watcher powers. Well now I do know!!!”
Eyes huffed and kept walking towards the spikes. They were still a good number of chunks away, but at the very least they were good landmarks. They still had some redstone and quartz in their pockets to snack on, so running for a while wouldn’t be too much of an issue. It was still a little tough to get through the terrain. The closer they got to the spikes, the rougher it was. The place was already littered with bits of destruction, but there was more debris from the spikes bursting out of the ground, scattering dirt and rocks around the landscape. It also didn’t help that the spikes were casting large shadows. While the darkness didn’t reach them at this point, Eyes still had to be wary of creepers or any mobs that spawned with helmets.
They slowed down to munch on some quartz, using that as an opportunity to look at their surrounding. They were getting closer to the spikes, likely close enough they wouldn’t need to stop again before reaching them. Looking for a way through the spikes would be difficult though. Theoretically they could be climbed or have a gap between them, but that could still be difficult. And then breaking through wouldn’t be an option. The wall that split them from Tommy hadn’t even been a full block thick and had been tough to break. There was no way they could get through that much.
When Eyes got to the shadows, they froze from seeing just how many monsters were around. There was a larger group than should be normal. Normally the natural world magic that spawned monsters split equally around occupants of the world. If there were so many here, that meant plenty of people had died and didn’t respawn, which was unlikely, the only death message they had seen so far was for Eret. The other option was there were more people around, and likely people who could help get Tommy back.
Fighting through the monsters, Eyes looked around for who else could be around. When moving in one direction there were less monsters around, so they moved in the opposite direction, glad to see it was closer to the spikes and closer to their destination.
After a bit of searching, Eyes finally spotted someone. They sliced down a nearby skeleton before shouting to the other person and running towards them. “Heeeeey! Over here! Do you need some-” Eyes tried to jump over something, but midway through the jump, they started buffering, causing them to fall on their face as they landed.
The person they called out to immediately came over, fighting off the nearby mobs. “Oh my gosh, are you okay?”
“Uh… yeah.” Grum took the person’s hand and got up. “Um, I need some help. It’s about Tommy.”

Grian carefully snuck through the castle that was the center of all the magic. He was pretty sure it was a trap, there was no way someone like him would make something so obvious and not make it a trap, but it wasn’t like he had a better place to look.
There was also the problem of not knowing where he was going. Technically he could use some Watcher magic for the answer, but that wasn’t really an option. He hadn’t been a Watcher long before joining Hermitcraft, meaning he was inexperienced. It was why using his magic often left him with side effects other than just being tired. But his hels copy was using so much, it was obvious he was better trained.
Grian took a few more hesitant steps forward before stopping from a sound. It didn’t sound like someone walking or flying, but it did at the very least sound like someone was moving around. He took out a sword and slowly moved towards the noise, ready to attack whoever was there, when a head popped out of a newly made hole in the wall with a small oink.
The avian was stunned, not really moving as the baby ziglin pulled himself the rest of the way out of the hole before turning to look back inside it. A few minutes later, another head popped out as someone squeezed their way through the hole.
Grian ducked back when they started looking around. He of course recognized Tubbo since he was Tommy’s friend, but he wasn’t sure if Grifter had done anything to them. He had already seen what happened to Grum as well as that enderman hybrid. What was his name?
“Okay Ranboo, the coast is clear. Send it through.” Tubbo spoke into the hole, and a moment later, an ender pearl was thrown through, teleporting the enderman hybrid inside. Once he was in, Tubbo reached his arm through. “Okay, we’re through, take my hand and I’ll pull you in.”
Grian’s eyes widened as he watched Grum get pulled through the hole. His grip on his sword tightened as he could immediately tell the bot was in a worse condition than the last time he had seen him. He wanted to rush in there, but Grum was too close to the others as well as the ziglin, so he couldn’t really attack without harming the kids.
“Okay, so, I’m not sure where he’s gonna be. Does this place have a prison or something?” Grum asked, looking between Tubbo and Ranboo.
“Not as far as I’m aware.” Tubbo answered. “You probably would know better than me. I mean, I’ve technically been gone a month or something.”
“And my memory is too bad.” Ranboo replied with a shrug.
“Alright, I guess we’re going in blind…” Grum spoke timidly. “Do you at least sort of know what the place is like? I never really even got a chance to visit it.”
Tubbo looked around before pointing in Grian’s direction. “I think maybe we go this way?”
“No, entrance is that way.” Grian spoke up. He was almost completely sure that the group was safe, though he was still concerned about Grum having more injuries. That being said, the bot quickly ran over and gave him a hug when he showed himself. “Are you doing okay Grum?”
“Well, I got a little more hurt on the way here while fighting monsters, but I’m okay.”
“Yeah, none of us are regenerating health naturally.” Ranboo spoke up. “And I’ve tried to give him a golden apple, but he’s refused them.”
“Because I can’t eat them! I’m a robot, not a person.”
Grian frowned. “You are too a person. Just a robotic one. Doc and Biffa are people too.”
“I guess you’re right. It’s just different…”
Grian picked Grum up in his arms. “Well, we can talk about that more when you’re not in danger.” Then he looked up at the rest of the group. “Now, why are you all here?”
“Apparently Grum and Tommy were on their way to find and help you, but the fake you kidnapped him.” Tubbo explained, which made Grian angry.
“That’s going to make things tougher if he’s got a hostage. Especially if it’s Tommy.” Grian ruffled his wings and shifted Grum so he could rub his chin. “I would say split up to cover more ground, but Grifter seems to be a powerful magic user. I mean, he’s the one who summoned those spikes. It also looks like he brought Sense along and from what Jrum’s told me, he’s almost as dangerous with his redstone. If any of us ran into even one of them alone, it would be bad news, so we’ll have to stick together.”
The rest of the group nodded and Grian started to lead them down the hall. With a whole group, he could probably use a little bit of magic, at least to see where Tommy was. It wouldn’t tell him how to get there, but a general idea of which direction to go would help. For a moment, another pair of eyes appeared, and then the world faded slightly, only the outlines of objects showing themselves. Grian looked around, not seeing Tommy, but then he looked up.
“It looks like Tommy’s on the roof or the floor below it. It looks like Sense is nearby while Grifter is elsewhere. There’s also a fourth person around, but they’re not someone I recognize.”
“Well then, let’s start heading up.” Ranboo said, Tubbo nodding as he picked up Michael, and then the group continued on to find Tommy.
