so we all know that everyone in nevermore has to follow a specific set of requirements to be placed in THAT specific nevermore. speak english, be dead, be between 18-25…and something else that we don’t know

could it be you had to have died in a specific time range? perhaps

but MY theory is that you had to have been MURDERED. So far, that’s what we’ve seen.

Annabel - shot in the heart

Pluto - potentially strangled/something neck related

Duke - maliciously drowned

Berenice - accidental vehicular manslaughter (or maybe it really was on purpose?! it’s still murder)

Eulalie - remember the child said there were people yelling outside and asked if someone INTENTIONALLY started the fire. Following the ‘murdered’ pattern, this fits.

Ada - literally murdered by that asshole

Monty - tied to the train tracks

Lenore - definitely shot by SOMEONE

And then we can hopefully use this requirement to fill us in on the people we don’t know at all: Will, Morella, Prospero

Morella died protecting someone. Was there a war, a conflict between two sides that ended in violence?

Will could’ve died pretending to be someone he wasn’t, taking the fall for someone else’s crime or mistake. Killed before he could truly live. I want so many details on him it’s not even funny.

Prospero is a special case to me. It’s easy to think he died of disease because of his career, his disgust seeing his own blood, him telling us he manifested when he felt queasy- but let’s put murder into that and see what we get.

I want in on talking about Annabel and Prospero.

Since most posts I've seen are about how nice it is to watch them being healthy for one another (it really is, I adore their dynamic) I decided to talk about how neither of them would hesitate to kill one another eventually.

First of all both Annabel Lee and Prospero are calculative people. Both of them care for only the outcome and how to get there. I have seen people call Annabel a hypocrite for protecting Prospero because he's important to her after what she did to Duke and I entirely disagree, more on the rescue from Ada later. We have established that Annabel really doesn't care that everyone in the academy (except one, if the Deans can be trusted) is doomed.

I don't think Annabel's general willingness to sacrifice people needs to be discussed.

Now, I'm leaning a bit far out the window here, but take a good look at Prospero in the left picture above, he looks more frustrated than anything. His chances just got a lot worse, he needs to rethink his strategy and on top of all that Ada is invading his personal space again.

Moving forward to what I think makes their mutual betrayal inevitable, the episodes after the Mansion Arc (this is were it gets interesting):

Until now we have seen Prospero mostly be mildly bothered by whatever is happening. When everything fell apart during the Lesson and everyone except for him apperently just did not do their job, he seemed like he was about to explode and seriously questioning his choice of team. Everyone else appeared to just want to go on with the day, Prospero however demanded answers, proving that he cares to win this entire game without getting side tracked.

Further his behaviour during the lesson shows that he actually doesn't get how anyone else would still be reluctant to kill their friends here. He was genuinely not expecting anyone to act out of empathy anymore.

And after the widow's watch affair and him witnessing Annabel freaking out after the labyrinth and smoothly asking about Pluto instead of giving an explanation, he is surely just one big-ish failure or unwillingness to take action away from openly confronting Annabel how it can be that whenever she is alone with Lenore, things go south ways, how whenever people want to act against Lenore, she calls it a waste of time despite the growingly obvious threat that Lenore poses.

I think Annabel actually does matter to him, and I think he matters to Annabel as well, but both of them expect something really specific from one another and sympathy alone means little to them.

Now about Annabel saving Prospero.

In chess, most gambits are about giving away a pawn. Why? Because a pawn has very little value on its own and sacrificing a pawn in order to get a slightly more profitable structure on the board can actually be worth it.

Sacrificing a queen? If you do something like that, you better be 100% sure you're seeing a forced checkmate.

Not only is Prospero's spector really powerful, Prospero is also the only thing keeping Annabel in control of her own team right now. Other than Prospero who's supporting her as long as she keeps bringing results, she is stuck with Ada who is a complete wild card and useless most of the time, Morella who is only half on her team, Will who is loyal mostly to Montresor and Montresor who constantly challenges her leadership.

The way things are standing right now, everything she has build would fall apart the very moment Prospero is gone.

Also, what if Annabel and Lenore have to stay long enough for their teams to start falling apart? Whom does Annabel want to face in a one on one? Someone like Montresor who's spector can very much use brute force against her or someone like Prospero who's spector is similarly unforceful as hers?

We even saw, that Annabel can just simply neutralise Prospero's rats with her fog, leaving him with no real attack on her. While he applies her with status conditions she can use her blossoms to attack him after she used her fog to make his rats disappear like she did on the widow's watch

Annabel did not safe him because she likes him, which she does. She saved him because he is a very important piece for her game and no real threat to her in the long run.

Prospero follows Annabel not because he likes her, which he does, but because she keeps bringing results. Or at least she did until rather recently.

There were times when you made Lenore saner and others where you drived her crazy. But it all broke down on the day she kidnapped you, taking you away from your arranged marriage until lightning struck twice and killed you both.

Annabel Lee was absolutely whipped with you. She learned the news of your death the day of her unhappy wedding, as the knife of her fiancé struck through her heart. But now that she found you again, she’ll use all of her power to make sure you’ll stay by her side.

It was common knowledge that Morella had nothing else than good intentions. It was those intentions that drove away all of the people she considered a “bad influence”, even if they were your friends. You were left isolated, turning to her and only her for support.

Duke was a trickster: one second he was there, the next he was nowhere to be seen. You were also a troublemaker, a quality not unseen by him. Using nothing but his wits, he tricked you into more trouble than you thought, with only him able to be your knight in shining armor against the Dean’s wrath.

Pluto worshipped the very ground you walked on and celebrated every breath you took. Everywhere you went, he was there, following you like a shadow. He hated everyone you talked with as they were not worthy of your smile and your kindness. He would make sure they’d disappear.

Berenice was not one to hide her affections, and god forbid a man would even look at you in the wrong way. But it was no use to try and get away: everytime you manifested your uncertainty, she would still smile, but her claws would dug deep into your arm as a warning.

Eulalie was strange, to say the least, but you gained quite a liking to her as she stuck around. To this day, you still have no idea of the horrors she has done to keep her for herself thanks to her seemingly harmless nature.

Dignity was a bizarre concept to Ada, as she would throw away every last shred of her own to satisfy you. For you, it was privacy you lacked: no matter how many times you tried to avoid her, she would pop up beside you like an unwanted weed.

Prospero may be cold, but he is also entitled. As your fiancé in your past life, he believes you belong to him. He doesn’t hesitate to punish you harshly if you fail the duties he assigns you to be what he calls a “good partner”.

Montresor was anything but a good man: selfish, greedy, cruel and a hypocrite. While he was busy sleeping around as he pleased, you were forbidden of showing even the slightest glimpse of your neck to one of these peasants. You were his and his alone.

Do not underestimate Will. Like Pluto, he is similar to a lost puppy, sticking by anyone who is stronger and will “guide” him. His instinct is to serve, even if his last act of service would be to die in your name.

You don’t remember when or how you died, or how long it has been. All that mathered is that you woke up in Merry and Mourn’s arms as their new little doll, a plaything to use until bore.

Since I can't contain my thoughts here's all the "Mirage" logicistics. Basically they either swap or enhance ones personality, heres a few examples:

Mirage Lenore is way more looney and impulsive, with a practically nonexistant off switch having to be dragged off screaming before she sets anything on fire, her group mainly sticks with her for fear of their own lives and she and Annabel are ALLOWED TO BE GAY!!! HOORAY!!! They still have the pretend to hate each other thing but thats mainly due to Annabel's paranoia

Mirage Duke is a shit magician who constantly looses parts of his tricks, he's also like WAYYY too overdramatic, the kinda mf to fall over if you steal his chip,

"I WAS GOING TO EAT THAT!"

"Oh my god..."

So yeah, pathetic cringefail looser LMFAO, but he is the kinda person to pull a "OMG MY BEST FRIEND! MOVE!" And shove whoever out of his way

Mirage Pluto is if you took a wet cat and made him a golden retriever. He's very hyperactive, social, easily distracted. Mf is like "wanna hear abt my hyperfixations?!" Talks and doesn't wait for an answer a neat thing i did with some characters Mirage's is i inverted stuff abt them like hair, emblems, all that. He still thinks M! Duke's magic is cool

Mirage Berenice is a feral little creature, constantly biting or nibbling on things (mainly Eulalies arm, or her own. I dont think chewlery exists in the victorian era). She's also the queen of being unhinged, in spectre form shes somewhat normal at least. For the most part she's in her own world

Mirage Eulalie is the mean autistic, less into creepy/old things n thinks their lame and/or weird. She's the one dragging Berenice around and keeping the gang from falling apart. Her and M! Morella really out here sharing the only group braincell, shes also blunt as fuck and wont hesitate to tell you you look bad. I wanted to lean more into the japanese part of her character so she just kinda- speaks more of it now (lol idk how else to explain it)

Mirage Morella, like M! Eulalie, is a mean autistic. She's less emotional, and more of "I dont give a damn just get me out of here.", sticks with whatever group she's feelin that day tbh. Won't tell you you look bad, will probably just call you a dumbass and leave

Mirage Annabel is kinda like regular Annabel but without the "Life is like chess" mentality. So more jumpy, kinda a walking talking mental breakdown waiting to happen. Excess paranoia and increase of hallucinations cus pookie and I decided we aren't giving her a break

Mirage Prospero is no longer fancy and polite, he is sopping wet germaphobic wet cat. He will go through great lengths to avoid disease, faints around blood and puke, screams at the sight of his own rats (or just rats/bugs in general), actively raising his and Annabel's blood pressure with how scardy he is.

Mirage Montresor is imo the funniest one cuz he's just a polite little gentleman, doin all the chivalry shit like opening doors, pushing chairs in and out, saying his pleases/thank yous/welcomes, he's even calling everyone "Sir" and "Ma'am". He's still an asshole, but you really gotta provoke him to see that

Tbh, I didn't think much abt Mirage Will since Will to me is kinda just there as Monty's lackey who gets kicked around. SO he's less of a pushover, more demanding, up and refuses what people tell him, bullies M! Monty, he tried bullying M! Ada and M! Morella but bro got his ass kicked. On top of it, he's unfortunately more sexist and stubborn. No more people pleasing ig 🤷‍♀️

Finally, Mirage Ada. What I wanted to do for her is have her be an absolute girlboss who is always serving 100% of the time. Everything she does is her choice and for her and her friends, and and and shes Aroace too, pretty chill when she has to reject someone just like:

Okay so I completely forgot to mention this, it was brought up in the doodle stream a couple days ago

Nevermore is the worlds largest renowned police station, best know for their breaks in crime busts

Deans run it, obviously. They own it actually as it was handed to them on a silver platter

Annabel’s father is the commissioner

High up there, Annabel is being trained to take over his position so she’s also a detective there. She strategically plans out the busts and best ways to take down any crime ring. As much as her father hates it, she deals in homicide cases most of the time

Prospero is her partner, helping her out when he can and since they’re both quite the observant type, they tend to get things done quickly. He and Annabel trust each other to their fullest (at least to him, that’s what he thinks…)

Ada is the newbie wannabe that no one knows how she got the job as detective because she had no clue what to do half the time, if not most. But some think that it’s because Morella convinced Annabel’s father to give her a chance but Morella was responsible for whatever Ada does. And Morella took that burden bc she likes Ada and sees potential.

Montresor was ..a criminal, but he persuaded someone, no one knows who, that he could turn a better leaf for the eyes of God (ew) and show them he’s a better person.

Will followed, he always follows him. But there’s something off about him, everyone treats Will better than Montresor but still pretty bad bc of how he acts..

That’s for their lil fucked up group

But..

They have competition, and no not from another Detective unit.

The misfits are a group of highly trained lil…well, misfits.

Criminals.

And they aren’t caught

It’s impossible to catch them

Because who else but Lenore snagging her family wealth every once in a while for a “business investment” to help the misfits out?

Yeah, lenore has no regrets

Lenore was born into a higher up and was supposed to be by her fathers side to help the Detective unit of Nevermore. Obviously ,,, she had other plans. When she lost her brother she lost complete interest and told her father she’d rather go into business, investing and profiting off of high end businesses.

Whenever she gets caught, she’s very VERY persuasive, and is let go. Because who else but a powerful daughter of a powerful man? Once Lenore’s father get wind of her getting in trouble it’s bad for both them both.

Duke is her right hand, and behind every lock and pick, Duke is the one who is able to get past any and all closed doors. From either dressing up as an employee or squeezing his way through tint cracks and dents, if you want in somewhere, Duke is there for you.

Pluto helps duke out but only to an extent of his knowledge. Pluto can gather any intel anywhere, maps to places, who’s working wheee, how long they worked there. He can get plans digital or on paper. Take your pick he’ll get it for you either way.

Eulalie is with Berenice, they go undercover at whatever places, mostly high end bars or restaurants. Doesn’t matter, they can get in and if they’re questioned, Lenore convinces said person that caught them that they just started..

And on their plans go.

Morella..used to be a part of it, but since she left Lenore has her tracks covered and had duke and Pluto erase any evidence she was apart of their group.

When to comes to the ‘everyone at Nevermore was murdered’ theory, there is a lot I like about it and quite a bit going for it. It provides solid reasoning to why all the Nevermore students would appear in Nevermore and why, for whatever their true intentions are, the Deans would be able to draw students into the academy with the promise of a second chance at life. Groups of of young adults taken in their prime, before they could truly blossom into adulthood. Their lives cruelly ripped away from them by spiteful individuals who murdered them. Of course they would especially jump at a second chance at life and would be given that opportunity.

Despite this, I just can’t bring myself to fully jump on the theory, because in my eyes, there is one big hole in this theory that I can’t draw my eyes away from. Someone that rebuts the idea that every Nevermore student was murdered not even 10 episodes into the series.

Theo.

In episode 32, we got confirmation about an idea that has been floating around since episode 8 was released: that Theo was a student at Nevermore Academy. An excellent one too. Top of his class, sharing the same magnetism as his sister. As a result, this would make his death the first instance we saw the death of a Nevermore student before they arrived at the academy, and it is Theo’s death that throws a massive wrench in this theory. Theo died because of a tree collapsing on him in the middle of a storm. A tragic loss, a horrible accident to be sure, but murder? It quite simply isn’t. The tree falling wasn’t due to the deliberate effort of a third party having it out for Theo, it was just an unfortunate result of the storm, almost certainly due to the strike of lightning near the area.

If we were going to try and fit Theo’s death into the murder theory, you could make an argument around Lenore’s reaction to Theo’s death. In episode 8, once Lenore realised Theo is dead, we see Lenore’s interdialogue saying how she killed her own brother, harboring a massive amount of guilt around Theo’s death since he went out into the storm to find her after she ran off after finding out her father found her a suitor. It could be argued that Lenore’s feelings in this moment might have allowed Theo to meet the murder requirement, however, this reading is undoubtedly a big stretch and solely relies on Lenore’s feelings of guilt and sense of responsibility for Theo’s death being enough for him to meet the requirement to appear in Nevermore. The stretch is only made even more apparent when compared to Nevermore students who were actually murdered, like Annabel and Ada. It feels as if we’re trying to fit a circular shape into a triangular space, it just doesn’t fit.

Like I said before, there is a lot to like about this theory, and despite Theo’s death standing as a strong contradiction to the murder theory, that doesn’t take away from the fact that every other death that we have confirmation for was caused by a third party:

-Annabel was murdered by ‘the one who loved her above all else’

-Ada was murdered by an upper classman who she was in love with and possibly had a relationship with (big theory I’ve seen is that this guy got Ada pregnant since he swung the axe at her stomach)

-Duke drowned because his escape trick was sabotaged by his assistant

-Monstresor was dragged to the train tracks by a group of men so the incoming train would run him over

-Berenice got hit and trapped under a police car because she was trying to escape from a guy that was harassing her

-and Eulalie died in a burning building, with it being suggested by a boy in her flashback that the fire was set on purpose by people outside (theory I’m on is that Eulalie was the victim of a hatecrime during WWII)

At the moment, the remain students who we don’t have confirmations on how exactly they died are Pluto, Morella, Prospero and Will. Out of the four, we have the strongest idea on how Pluto could have died due to how he manifested and his first flashback, giving us an idea on how strongly the Black Cat is influencing his backstory. The way Pluto first manifested highly suggests that, like the Black Cat in the short story he’s inspired from, Pluto was hung. This has lead to the continuing discussion on whether Pluto committed suicide or whether he was killed by his father, with the narrator in the Black Cat having hung the first cat soon after he cut out it’s eye while intoxicated. Overall though, both option would end with a similar conclusion, with Pluto’s death being caused by a third party: either being pushed to suicide by his father or his father killing him.

With Morella, she died with the feeling of wanting to save someone, not caring if anything bad happened to her. Once again, these feelings can link to the idea that Morella’s death was caused by a third party, with someone having put someone Morella cared about in harm’s way.

With Prospero, he said he felt queasy, like something was crawling under his skin, making it very likely he died from an illness. While this cause of death can also put a damper on the murder theory, it could still be open to being caused by a third party. The more recent free episodes have been giving us more evidence that Prospero worked in the medical field, so it’s possible he became ill due to his work. Another possible root is, taking into account his greatest fear hallucination in episode 70, Prospero could have been victim to poor medical treatment and practices that lead to his death. At the moment, it’s hard to say with Prospero, but the possibility of his death being caused by a third party is there.

Finally with Will…we basically have nothing to go on with Will, and the short story he’s from being rather odd and not as easy to draw a reasonable cause of death from compared to Pluto for example.

With all this considered, I think a key factor holding back this theory is the specific wording that all the students were murdered. Murder leaves a limited definition to work with, which while would fit how only certain people appear in Nevermore, would need us to stretch the details we already have around students’ deaths. If we were to change the wording to something along the lines of ‘all the Nevermore students died because of the actions of a third party’, that gives us a lot more room to breath with, allowing the deaths we do have confirmation for to slide into this idea very easily and still giving us a reason while only certain people would arrive at Nevermore.

However, while I have suggested this alternative, I still don’t think it really suits Theo’s death. While you could say that Lenore’s actions lead Theo to go out into the storm, leading to his death, it still feels too far removed from how Theo actually died, especially when compared to the others. It’s again a very harsh and unfair reading of the events that happened. Until we get confirmation on our last four students’ deaths, it’s hard to say just how much of an outlier Theo’s death is. There’s a lot to the relam of Nevermore that we don’t fully understand. Though the Ravens stated that the Deans are relatively new to Nevermore, they have a lot of control over the students arriving at Nevermore: knowing about their history, having pictures of them in life, students already being in uniform, etc. I am very curious to see them talk about the requirements to be a student at Nevermore Academy.

theory time: what unites all the students at nevermore academy?

tw: death, violence, blood, all the bad & sad stuff.

considering that nevermore academy is a kind of purgatory, there has to be a reason why it holds such a small number of people. in this realm must be plenty of places where different people, united by one characteristic, end up after death. this was also confirmed by the authors.

for a long time now I've been following the theory that all the characters of "nevermore" are united by the way they died. namely, they all were murdered.

almost from the very beginning of the story we were aware that annabel lee was murdered. the same thing was stated in the latest chapters too.

ada was clearly also brutally murdered by the nobleman she loved. the poor girl's body was probably never found. I'm afraid no one really looked for it though.

recently we also learned that duke didn’t just drown. his magical performance was sabotaged by a person unknown to us.

the cause of pluto's death was not specified in detail, but I'm inclined to believe that he was strangled by his tyrant father (and my baby felt a huge relief, I'm crying).

berenice was hit by a car, but I'm pretty convinced that it counts (?), because she was running away from a bad person. especially if we take into account the story of the poe's character with the same name.

oh, and I almost forgot about montresor, although there have been a lot (too much) of him lately. well, he was thrown under a train. not much to add.

the only people who stand out from the general pattern so far are prospero and eulalie. eulalie died in a fire. the exact cause of prospero's death is unknown to us, but with a high probability it was caused by some kind of disease, presumably the plague. however, I wouldn't rush to write these two off. the fire could have been the result of arson. not necessarily for the sake of killing poor eulalie. but in any case it's a deliberately arranged action. remember, in the eyes of the public, duke's death also seemed like an accident.

and the final chord of prospero’s life could have been, for example, not the disease itself, but a medical “mistake” during the surgery or something like that.

The last in this series of Poe character sheets, here's Morella!!  I'm in love with her entire design.  I love drawing curly hair so much.  Morella is pretty similar to Ligeia in that she's mysterious and educated and intelligent.  In the original story, her husband is obsessed with her, but he also hates her for some reason.  Then, in true Poe fashion, she gets sick and dies.  But before she dies, she gives birth to a child that looks exactly like her.  And the husband hates her too.  Because he sucks.  And it's implied that the baby dies. 

BUT! I've changed it so that Morella recovers from her illness, takes the baby, and leaves.  Also she's best friends with Ligeia and goes to live with her.  I've named her little daughter Minnie!  As in "mini-me".  And it's short for "Minerva". 

Also, Minnie is such a blessing to have in this story (if I can call it that) because I get to see how the other characters behave around small children.  I feel like Lenore is awkward and doesn't have much experience with kids, Pluto's really curious and a little freaked out because he's a cat, Red hates Minnie less than she hates everyone else, Ligeia is basically a doting aunt, and Frederick is weirdly good with kids and it shocks everyone.  He's allowed to babysit as long as someone is there to make sure he doesn't vandalize the chairs or something.

nevermore headcanons again: preferred weather

lenore: cloudy days. when the sun is barely seen through the clouds, but you can still somewhat find it if you squint. she’s stuck by the window, watching the clouds and swearing they twist intk familiar curls.

annabel lee: sunny, but not hot. a very light breeze in the trees and enough sun to illuminate any beautiful colored windows. the perfect day, many would say in passing.

duke: light drizzle of rain as the sun struggles to peek out of the clouds. the start of a potential downpour. he uses this to his advantage, of course, leading people to his entertainment as the closest place to stay dry.

pluto: pouring rain. No wind, just a dark sky and rain coming straight down against the ceilings. the sound puts him to sleep.

eulalie: very windy, sunny days. the sun is bright, but the wind whips through your hair and clothes. children laugh as hair gets in their faces and others panic while trying to chase their jackets. the laughter makes it all warmer.

berenice: cloudy skies with thunder rumbling in the distance, a sign of what’s to come. The thrill of finding somewhere to go before the storm is exciting and fun. the wind is starting to pick up slowly.

morella: crisp air and a bright sun, specifically in the early morning when the grass is still damp with dew. for a girl who should not stay in the sun for too long, she loves being outside.

prospero: very light snow. Not being in it of course, but watching it fall out of the corner of his eye as he sits by candlelight. it makes him feel a sense of security, knowing that he is indoors and safe from the growing cold. he watches it dust over the outside, thinking that the world looks cleaner than it usually does in that split moment.

ada: thunderstorms. Nobody can leave as long as the weather is strong, giving her more time to not be alone with her thoughts. the lightning flashes through the window, making her smile. her companion cannot leave, and she hopes it stays this way a bit longer.

montresor: extremely hot, humid days with warm wind and dark clouds. it hasn’t rained yet, and nobody is sure if it will…but it looks like a very bad storm coming. It’s humid and muggy, leaving everyone melting and fabric clinging to sweaty skin. the clouds are a faint green, a sign of a potential tornado on the horizon.

will: heavy, heavy snowfall. blizzards. from indoors, he feels as if he were trapped. he may be warm and comfortable out of the cold, but he wonders if he were buried in the snow- if he would feel more than he does now. would anyone notice if he were buried in it? would anyone find him? would freezing to a shade of blue be enough to be something that isn’t someone else?

how do you think the misfits would meet each other in a modern au?

this is a tough one. this could go in so many ways you know? like so many different ideas. in my fic the idea is that lenore and duke met because he put up a shitty “looking for roommate” ad online

ok let’s try this. lenore leaves home with the bare minimum cash she was able to steal from her father. she’s in a really shitty apartment, about to run out of money and knows shes kinda fucked. she swears she sees or hears something, proceeds to climb out the window because she’s lenore and she does that. while she’s struggling, someone a few buildings down who was looking out the window calls out to ask what the hell she’s doing. it’s duke!!

lenore and duke end up clicking immediately, yelling to each other across the street. after some light banter, the two decide to actually have a proper conversation in duke’s building

time skip like a month. lenore is living with duke now and he knows her full situation. they need another roommate because lenore is still looking for a job, and duke’s job isn’t paying enough (he’s definitely at one of those performance restaurants with the entertaining waiters. every staff member has like a different character/archetype to play every week, and he’s just really damn good at it.)

they put up an ad for it but everyone that’s responded so far is kinda creepy or boring.

the two go out one night and they see a confrontation by the train station. a short british man is being physically intimidated by some guy. and the shorter is trying to bite back despite his height and clear disadvantage. and of course, lenore doesn’t hesitate to get involved and get this settled. after being reckless and throwing some insults, they add: pluto to their party

pluto JUST arrived to the states. he literally just stepped off the train he took from the airport and not even a minute later was nearly being robbed. lenore and duke, having no sense of caution, tell pluto that he can come with them until he figures something else out

(spoiler alert: that doesn’t happen. pluto stays with them. they’re all together and happy)

more time skip. morella texts lenore and asks to catch up. morella is the one who helped lenore get that really really shitty apartment when she first ran away from home. she’s introduced to duke and pluto and everything is perfect. she visits a lot when she isn’t at work (she works at a local cafe)

morella ends up introducing them to eulalie. morella frequents the bookstore eulalie works in, as does pluto. and with that connection, eulalie introduces them all to her roomie berenice. and now they’re all besties!!

Nevermore characters have the powers & some looks of their spectres in their human form.(ex, Monty has horns. Duke has a diamond pattern on some parts of his body)

They get more & more like their spectres the more power they use.

If they use too much of that power or become power hungry, they fully turn into their spectres & become lost creatures. Having to preform a very dangerous ritual to turn them back & even at that they look like their spectre only having few human features left.

what do you think the main cast's mbti are? i don't really agree with personality database's assigned mbti, like I don't think Lenore is an ISFP, and I think Eulalie is rather extroverted to be an infp 😔

oh i’m so ass at these. Tbh the only way Id be able to confidently answer is if i took the quiz as all of them, and i’m not doing that because not only would that take ages, but it would be a pain in the ass to read for you too LOL

so let’s discuss each letter and maybe think about who fits where!

Extroversion (E) vs Introversion (I) So my definition of this is how you get your energy. Do you thrive more doing solitary activities, or do you recharge by being with people? I can see Eulalie being both, or an ambivert. She likes social gatherings/spending time with friends, but doesn't mind doing things on her own either. People like Duke thrive off other people, getting their energy from social interaction. Montresor may be a very "social", outward person, but definitely prefers leisure time on his own with nobody bothering him. So using these as examples, I'd do this: E - Duke, Berenice, Morella, Eulalie, Lenore, Ada I - Pluto, Prospero, Annabel, Montresor, Eulalie again Will is a wild card because I think he craves social interaction, but it doesn't really "energize" him. And being alone means being alone with his thoughts/feelings that he can't understand. Next: Sensing (S) vs Intuition (N)

So I’m using the MBTI website for reference here. “S is for the Sensing preference. People who have the letter S in your MBTI type tend to process things in a step-by-step linear sequence and observe and remember specific information. They also tend to focus on the facts and what can be observed via their five senses.”

“N is for the Intuition (because we already used the letter I for Introversion) and people who have a preference for Intuition generally learn by seeing the big picture and themes, and thinking about how specific information is connected.”

Using these definitions, here’s the people I think might fit with each.

Not to say that these people are incapable of intuition, it’s just how I categorize them based on how I think they naturally…well, think. Of course, everyone’s capable of doing the opposite one that I put them in. It’s not so black and white.

S - Berenice, Lenore, Eulalie, Prospero, Morella, Ada, Duke

N - Annabel, Pluto, Will, Montresor

Berenice and Lenore are more straightforward. I think they’re very similar in terms of how they carry themselves. They want to rely on their bodies and senses to perceive information. What they see, hear, taste, etc. Eulalie is the type to observe things in order and pick out specific things to focus on. Prospero is the same. Morella also likes to use her own senses to perceive, wanting to be able to connect to whatever it is using her own body. Ada does something similar to Morella, aching to connect with whatever she is perceiving and therefore by using her own senses, feels smarter. And Duke, as a performer, uses all of his senses ALL THE TIME. When on stage, he has to be aware of every single thing to avoid a mistake. The big picture is the show- he cannot afford to hyper focus on one little thing, because everything else will suffer in quality.

Annabel I put in N because she tends to overanalyze- she will look at EVERYTHING to come to a proper conclusion. Will because he has to look at every single factor in terms of studying others- he has to maneuver very carefully in general to avoid being tossed aside. Pluto is vibes tbh. Montresor I put because he’s chaos. He isn’t gonna look at something in a linear way and come to a conclusion based on facts. He’s going to jump around and pick out what interests him.

Next: Thinking (T) vs Feeling (F)

Pretty self explanatory. Decisions based on logic vs feelings.

T - Prospero, Annabel, Eulalie, Will, Duke

F - Lenore, Berenice, Pluto, Morella, Montresor, Ada

Prospero and Annabel are self explanatory. Eulalie because I think she is more of a blunt thinker. Like she’s more inclined to say something because it’s true, not because of a feeling. Will is an over thinker; his feelings don’t matter. And I think Duke is honestly a mix of both but I put him in Thinking because of his tendency to want to be perceived as someone who isn’t bothered/consistently charismatic. So he might disregard his own feelings to make a decision.

Honestly I think everyone else is self explanatory. Montresor in Feeling because he makes his decisions based on what HE wants.

And lastly, Judging (J) vs Perceiving (P)

Using the website definitions again. Judging = people who have preferences for plans, lists, structure.

Perceiving = They crave flexibility, more open minded to spontaneous decisions, make sudden decisions, more likely to do things last minute.

J - Annabel, Prospero, Pluto, Morella (but wants to be P), Will

P - Lenore, Eulalie, Berenice, Duke, Montresor, Ada

Now a lot of these are self explanatory again but I’ll explain Will’s. I think having a strict plan/everything set out in front of him puts him at ease because he knows he’s prone to messing up.

So mix and match these and I guess you get what I’d think their types are? Maybe!! This was honestly so fun so thank you!!

Hello Hayley! I've been binge reading your Nevermore headcanons and I LOVE every single one. If you're taking requests, may I ask for some Montresor and Morella friendship headcanons please? I feel like they would tease each other, but be able to bond over a shared love of food. Thank you for all of your work :D

YES!!! I was so inspired by pluto’s morella and monty platonic art in the server. i love the idea of them getting along. but to start, i’m gonna be evil

- Obviously things wouldn’t go so great. Morella doesn’t like him and actively stands up against his nonsense. Montresor probably only sees her spectre, really. He understands that her defense skills are necessary. Probably thinks she’s too kind hearted. Probably also thinks she’s stupid to some degree, but not entirely because of how she stood up to him.

- I can only imagine their relationship changing if Morella just kinda forced herself to tolerate him to keep the peace as much as possible. She doesn’t want unnecessary problems to arise (like the wall thing) nor does she want to feed into what he wants (her to snap/react)

- So her method is to attempt to treat him the way she treats everyone else. Montresor finds it amusing, using her kindness against her and purposely being worse to get her to break.

- That backfires. He’s trying to put her on a Will/Ada level, but Morella is too headstrong to be fooled. She’s kind to be kind, and his pleasantries don’t work on her. If anything, she’s more responsive when he drops the whole charisma thing- because he’s being REAL.

- With this dynamic established. Imagine. She’s a great cook. She ends up making a big meal for the misfits and is oh so kind enough to save a bowl for him. She knows damn well he doesn’t deserve it, but her continuing to be nice to him despite how horrible he is…it’s kinda like a game between them now. She’s trying to say she’s better than him with every kind act. And he’s not only entertained/mildly pissed, but he’s stubborn and wants her to snap and drop the act so he plays along.

- “Lemme guess, doll. Poison’s in here. Naw…maybe dirt.”

“Just spices and care, Montresor. Try it!”

And of course, it tastes fantastic. He says it tastes like shit and slams the door in her face. He eats the entire bowl.

- As time goes on, Montresor doesn’t realize it but he’s starting to see her as less of a game like his lackeys and more of a neutral company that he doesn’t really necessarily hate. And he can tell that their ‘game’ goes more and more stagnant as Morella becomes less faux-kind, allowing herself to pout or scold him. It’s become less of a “try to get the other to back off” and more of a natural sort of interaction.

- She genuinely asks him if he’s ever brushed his hair in his life. He proceeds to answer by running his fingers through his hair, only to cuss when he hits a particularly nasty knot.

- She just kinda tosses a spare hair brush at him. She’s not willing enough to touch him/comb his greasy ass hair for him, but at least gives him the means to do it himself.

- I do agree that they bond over food. They have big stomachs and Morella is just so good at cooking.

- Ada invites Morella to sit with her and Monty in the common area once. She was hesitant, but agrees after she’s encouraged by the misfits to go for some strange reason.

- But once the interaction starts, Morella can tell that Ada doesn’t really want her there. She keeps glaring and tugging Montresor’s sleeve, as she always does.

- It doesn’t dawn on her why she was invited until Ada spills it.

“Why did you want her here so bad, dear? I wanted my alone time with you…” Ada would whine. Ada doesn’t HATE Morella, but she’s still not very happy about their argument in the cellar.

Morella can’t believe what she’s hearing. It wasn’t Ada that wanted her here- but Montresor

- She grins. She has no idea what their relationship really is or if it can be anything other than a okayish neutral, but perhaps this moment right here is proof that Monty can feel something that isn’t cruel or unnecessary.

- And Montresor? Refuses to look her in the eye. She’s not terrible. But don’t get him wrong, it’s only because she’s in the middle. Not smart enough to be on Annabel or Prospero’s strategy levels, but not pushover-y enough to be of any use to him. That’s it.

oh i’m so on board. i got you anon. modern au time.

- morella and eulalie play a lot of minecraft together. morella only uses the cherry blossom wood and eulalie likes to make exact replicas of everyone’s houses. it’s mildly concerning how accurate she gets them, even the colors of the closet walls.

- berenice can and will jumpscare children on halloween. lenore joins her. they accidentally get pluto at some point and he screams so loud that duke continues to make fun of him a month later

- morella encourages all of them to use her makeup whenever they want. she also loves doing eyeshadow on pluto. it took him a while to get comfortable with it but now he finds it relaxing

- berenice and duke are the ones to come up with stupid ideas for tiktoks that usually involve at least one person getting a stupid injury

- eulalie starts a pillow fort hierarchy. cats rule the land, and of course pluto is king.

- whenever lenore is playing piano, the others start roleplaying a royal ball sort of deal by slow dancing with each other and speaking in posh accents. it’s absolutely ridiculous

- they go to glow in the dark mini golf and make it a competition. whoever comes in dead last pays for doordash that night (it’s usually pluto. dude doesn’t have depth perception. but someone always slips him an extra few dollars into his pocket.)

- eulalie tried to summon a spirit in lenore, duke, and pluto’s apartment. she says she didn’t succeed, but duke insists there’s something. but he is very dramatic, so maybe it’s nothing!

- pluto will sleep until noon if nobody wakes him. the methods to get him up have gotten more and more creative as time goes on. currently, it’s blasting Malice Mizer on a bluetooth speaker

- berenice and lenore do that zip line thing that drops you a million feet on a harness. eulalie wanted to go too but she had work :( everyone else flat out refused to try. yes even duke

- duke insisted it was because he didn’t want to because of a ‘mild stomach ache’ but he’s a fucking liar

- they’ve definitely done that trend where they all buy each other really stupid t shirts and then go to a restaurant wearing them

- eulalie is really bad at keeping surprises a secret. she’s usually not let in on it until the very end because she’s just. bad.

- eulalie and duke try too hard during karaoke. and they always do duets. anything from frozen usually-
