When Shuichi entered the bedroom, Kokichi was sitting on the end of the bed, wearing the outfit of latex and leather that he had been hiding for a week while he worked up the courage to surprise Shuichi with it. Kokichi was not necessarily insecure, but wearing something so intentionally erotic was new to him. He couldn't help but worry what Shuichi might think.
"So. . ." he began, still building up his courage and faintly red in the face, "good sight or great sight?"
Finally, a grin caught his lips, voice dropping an octave as he leaned back on his palms and asked, "Well? Aren't you going to get on your knees and worship me?"
(( kfdhhfdahs i didn't forget abt sending this— ))
Shuichi had just returned from the nearby grocery store, to get a few things they needed, and some extra things like snacks and sweets. He'd usually announce that he's back, but he hadn't seen Kokichi in the living room or kitchen. "He must be in the bedroom..." He thinks to himself as he begins putting away the groceries.
Once he was done, he made his way towards their bedroom. As he was entering it, he was about to say with a smile: "Kokichi...! Hey, I'm-" But the sight he was greeted with, was not something Shuichi expected at all to see. ".....Back.....-!!" A choked gasp left him, and for a moment, he could not help but stare while frozen in place. That was the first time... Shuichi's seen Kokichi wear something like that; something so risque, and bold. Even when Kokichi asked him for his opinion: "O-Oh...um.....ah...it's...."
He couldn't even form a sentence, his mouth was practically agape, along with being deeply red in the face. Oh he knows his eyes were wandering, slowly taking in every inch of Kokichi's body in that outfit. He swallows hard. Yeah, he told himself: he looked great in that. But just standing there and gawking at him wouldn't do: even he could tell Kokichi looked a bit shy. He wants to let him know without a doubt, it was a very pleasant surprise to see. "S...Sorry!! I-I just: I was a loss of words for a moment because, just......wow......" The whispered tone he emphasized that 'wow' in, only heightened how much he loves the sight. "It...is a great sight. You look amazing in that, Kokichi. You pull that outfit off s-so well..."
Then finally, does he step further into the room, taking more of his boyfriend in as he steps closer. He hoped he could help Kokichi feel even more confident wearing that, because he truly meant every praise he gives. And the fact he even wanted to surprise him with such an outfit... makes him happy, if not feeling arousal quickly bubbling up in him. Kokichi's voice dropping an octave certainly didn't help him feel less aroused, with what he asks next- "!!" Making his face especially blow up in a new shade of red.
"Ah-!" And then after a second, quickly nods his head before he slowly gets down on his knees as told. "Y...Yes, of course. Since I am very lucky and honored th-that... I can be the one to see you in such an outfit. It was not a surprise I expected to walk into, but one that... I really did enjoy." A sharp exhale, he crawls a bit closer to one of his boots, so that he can wrap his arm around it, before staring back up at him. Despite his smile looking shy, the heat in his eyes and expression were very apparent. Maybe it was something about that latex outfit Kokichi was wearing, that made him go in a fully submissive mode, already. Leaving a soft peck on the part of Kokichi's thigh that is bare, he then utters: "S...So thank you for blessing me with the lovely sight of you. Tonight, I am all yours....."

“Hmmmm...can you do Nagito, Shuichi, Mikan, and Makoto with a s/o with an abusive household?”
a/n: i added hajime bc I felt like writing for him 🤧 I hope that’s okay !
warnings: yandere, unhealthy relationships, unhealthy mindsets, unhealthy behavior, kidnapping
Komaeda Nagito
☘︎︎ not going to lie, he’ll probably freak out once he finds out that his darling is living in an abusive home. I feel like Nagito worships his darling so much that he forgets that they’re not invincible, so this kind of causes him to snap a little. Nagito most definitely has a breakdown and kidnaps his darling after finding out. I’m not saying he has a savior complex, but Nagito is adamant about saving his darling from their abuse, he feels like he must protect them, so seeing them be hurt, physically or emotionally, would affect Nagito in a very dangerous way. His darling is like God to him, truly, so this does cause him to go into a manic episode, but once he knows his darling is safe away from their abuse he’ll be fine.
Saihara Shuichi
☘︎︎ he’s shocked, scared, and angry at the same time. I’m sure I’ve touched on this before, but Shuichi isn’t a completely harmless yandere to have. He’s completely capable of ruining someone’s life if he feels like it’s necessary. So, once he realizes that his darling is in an abusive situation he’s immediately working on getting them out of it. Shuichi fully intends on obliterating the life of whoever’s causing his darling pain, and much like with Komaeda it doesn’t matter whether they’re going through emotional or physical abuse, because at the end of the day his darling is still suffering. Shuichi is just doing his best to make sure that his darling isn’t going to be suffering any longer than they have to, he cares about them too much to let that happen.
Tsumiki Mikan
☘︎︎ she’s utterly devastated when she finds out that her darling is being abused. Mikan is extremely devoted to her darling, and I’m guessing that she’s seen people suffer from abuse before so she’ll notice the signs almost immediately. She doesn’t tend to pry into her darling's business too much unless she’s jealous, but Mikan can be extremely observant. She’s terrified for her darlings safety after finding out, so much like Komaeda I think she’d be one to kidnap her darling as well, but Mikan is just so very nervous about how her darling was going to react. She’s tending to any bruises (if they have any, that is) her darling has and looking over their entire body to make sure that they’re okay. Mikan is just convinced that she’s the safer option.
Naegi Makoto
☘︎︎ he’s scared when he finds out that his darling is in an abusive situation. Makoto is absolutely a harmless yandere, but I feel like he’d be kind of lost after finding out his darling was being abused. He thinks about kidnapping them, but Makoto has a serious fear of his darling potentially hating him, so his next option is to get them out of the situation the harder way. What I mean is that he tries to get the people abusing his darling taken care of with the help of Kirigiri. All Makoto wants is for his darling to be safe, so as long as he knows they can get out of their situation he’d be satisfied. He’d ask his darling if they wanted to stay with him, too, and if they refused he’d pressure them into it. He doesn’t feel bad... it’s for their wellbeing!
Hinata Hajime
☘︎︎ might act a little violently when he finds out that his darling is being abused, seriously he’s angry. Hajime can be a bit difficult when it comes to how he feels about his darling, but at the end of the day he’s still very much infatuated with them and he deals with all threats the same way, by getting rid of them. Hajime doesn’t kill anyone, of course, but he’s studious. He’s intelligent for the most part and knows how to get rid of anyone he sees as a threat without getting in trouble. They won’t die, but he, much like Saihara, works on ruining their lives. Whoever’s abusing his darling is automatically on Hajime’s list of people he hates, so he isn’t planning on giving them any mercy. He’d most likely kidnap his darling as well if things weren’t going his way.

Ship meme for Tenmiko
Another girl/girl ship that hits me right in the feels. This one feels pretty special.
Who confessed first?
Most of their relationship would range from roundabout, but very obvious flirting from Tenko’s side for a long time. However, after being prompted by Angie, Tenko would confess her feelings straightforwardly.
Who initiated the first kiss?
Himiko. It happens out of nowhere, and Tenko faints.
Who asks the other out on dates?
Himiko thinks that whenever Tenko asks her out, she does so for the purpose of helping her get out more often. This ins’t true. Tenko just wants to be with Himiko 24/7.
Who is the bigger cuddler?
Tenko. Her hugs can get a little too tight though.
Who initiates holding hands more often?
Himiko. Tenko gets really flustered and hyperactive whenever Himiko takes her hand.
Who remembers anniversaries?
Tenko makes a mental calendar of every date she’s been on with Himiko. Himiko tends to forget them sometimes, but Tenko doesn’t care.
Who is more possessive?
I don’t even need to explain why Tenko is the answer to this. Although it SHOULD be noted that Himiko is similarly possessive, but does a much better job of hiding it.
Who gets more jealous?
Tenko. She’s stated before that she’s jealous of magical girls and performers because she wants to be one.
Who is the most protective?
Again, obviously Tenko. However, while she’d never say it, Himiko would willingly pick a fight with someone despite her size, if Tenko was hurt.
Who initiates sexy time the most?
Hm...this one is difficult. I’d probably say Himiko. To put this in the most SFW way I can, she’d be turned on by something Tenko does, and things would escalate from there.
Who dislikes PDA (Public Display of Affection)?
Tenko had to learn to give Himiko her space in public. Himiko doesn’t mind being petted, but there’s a time and a place for her. It’s embarrassing when Tenko hugs or kisses her out of nowhere.
Who kills the spider?
Tenko obliterates the spider when it scares Himiko.
Who asks the other to marry them?
Tenko. She would wait until a good opportunity and would get most of the girls and Shuichi to help her out with it. They’d create a whole setup, that would be a bit too extravagant for Himiko to handle, but she’d realise Tenko’s good intentions and accept her proposal with almost no hesitation.
Who buys the other gifts?
Himiko actually buys Tenko little things from time to time. She enjoys thinking about what Tenko would like, but Tenko will accept anything so long as it’s from Himiko, because she’s a useless gay.
Who would first bring up the idea of having kids?
Surprisingly enough, Himiko. I think she’d realise that in spite of how she’s weird, loud and is a bit intense sometimes, Himiko would realise that Tenko should be the mother...sorry, OTHER mother of her child. Tenko would have a panic attack when Himiko tells her that she might want to adopt and raise a kid with her, but at no point would she ever object to the idea. In fact, she’s so into it, that she says she wouldn’t mind if the child they adopted was a male.
Who is more nervous to meet the others parents?
I think Tenko. She’d spend a few days before meeting them trying to make herself look presentable, and also thinking of every possible topic of conversation as to not have any chance of an awkward silence. She’d also restrain herself from making any degenerate male comments if possible.
Who sleeps on the sofa/couch when the other is angry?
Like some of the other couples I’ve talked about, Tenko refuses to allow Himiko to sleep on the couch.
Who tries to make up first after arguments?
Himiko actually. Most of the time, even if the argument is technically Tenko’s fault, she sadly apologises for it, and the two of them hug while they break down into tears.
Who tells the other they love them more often?
Tenko, obviously!
Who accidentally pushes a door instead of pulling it or vice versa?
Both of them, but Himiko more often.
Who doodles little hearts over the desk with their initials inside?
Tenko.
Who starts the tickle fights?
Tenko starts the tickle fights, but only when Himiko is feeling down. It makes her feel better, despite how it annoys her.
Who starts the pillow fights?
Himiko does. They’re pretty fun, even though she rarely has the energy to bother.
Who is the last to fall asleep while watching the other with a warm smile?
Himiko.
Who kisses the other awake in the morning?
Tenko.
Who mistakes salt for sugar?
Tenko gets so excited that she makes this mistake a few times.
Who let’s the microwave play the loud beeping sound at 1am in the morning?
Himiko, for sure.
Who comes up with the cheesy pickup lines?
Tenko can’t even land a cheesy pickup line correctly.
Who rearranges the books in Alphabetical Order?
Only Himiko’s magic books get this treatment for her. Tenko, kind of surprisingly, actually is pretty organised.
Who licks the spoon when baking?
Tenko does it on instinct. Himiko doesn’t lick the spoon, she puts the spoon in her mouth.
Who buys candles for dinner, even when there’s no special occasion?
Himiko.
Who draws little tattoos on one another with a pen?
Himiko actually draws on Tenko. Tenko enjoys the sensation.
Who comes home with a souvenir/fridge magnet whenever they go on holiday?
Both of them get one for the other.
Who convinces the other to fill out those couple surveys that you usually find on the back of magazines?
Tenko, but Himiko thinks they’re a pain.
Who has the other as their phone background?
Definitely Tenko.
Who leaves notes written in fog on the bathroom mirror?
Again, almost certainly Tenko.
Who asks if they can join the other in the shower?
Tenko asks Himiko if she can help her wash her back. Himiko agrees and also helps Tenko wash HER back. Tenko also loves washing Himiko’s hair.
Who loudly proclaims their love while drunk?
Himiko. It’s the only time she ever really does this, whilst Tenko does it naturally.

Dangan Ronpa V3: Chapter 5 Class Trial
Last time, someone died. Either Kokichi or Kaito. Or maybe they’re both dead? Anyways, we gotta find out who both the victim and blackened are.
We know the trial’s rules, but we also know that graduation is a sham. How can we go to the outside world when it’s been obliterated?
Neither Kaito nor Kokichi are here because that would give away the answer to our question, “who is the victim”.
Whoever is still alive is present, but hidden out of sight until we figure out who it isn’t.
Shuichi’s a good detective. Just because there’s an obvious answer doesn’t mean you can rest on your laurels without confirming it. Maki’s insistence that the victim is Kaito needs to proven true or false before we can figure anything else out. This starts with Kokichi’s clothes.
Only Kaito’s sleeve was sticking out of the hydraulic press. There wasn’t any flesh inside that would suggest it was on an arm at the time.
Kaito didn’t wear his arm through his sleeve, but that was his right arm. His left coat sleeve was hanging out from the press.
Despite our arguments, Maki is convinced Kokichi killed Kaito. She tells Monokuma to bring out the suspect, and so the suspect appears, piloting Monotaro’s Exisal. As everyone starts to panic, a voice issues forth from the Exisal’s cockpit. It’s Kaito’s voice. Which can only mean that the victim is Kokichi.
As we start to get very confused, Kaito’s voice is suddenly replaced with Kokichi’s, also coming from inside the Exisal. What?
Hmmm. Kokichi in the Exisal…if he could find a way to impersonate Kaito’s voice, it could be. Still, it’s weird that whoever’s in there isn’t coming out.
Kokichi claims to have evidence to prove that he’s Kokichi. A video of the moment of Kaito’s death…
But…the fact that Kaito was successfully crushed meant that video isn’t what it claims to be. Because he must have already been dead for the press to not activate it’s safety measure.
The video wasn’t doctored in any way. Kokichi tells Monokuma to back him up on that. Strangely, Monokuma is silent, and only speaks when Kokichi tells him it’s fine for him to. Monokuma must be an AI after all, right? Not controlled by Kokichi, but working with him? That’s the only thing that makes sense.
So editing the video was supposedly impossible.
Still, something is strange. If Kokichi killed Kaito, what did he hope to get out of it?
Kokichi filmed the moment of Kaito’s death, which makes him the obvious suspect. And Kokichi confirms. He’s the culprit.
Obviously he isn’t the actual culprit, though.
Everyone else, bar Maki, has their doubts as well. This feels too easy.
Maki says that not only did Kokichi kill Kaito, he violated the rules as well. He violated the spirit of the game that Junko came up with, the killing game.
Kokichi repeats the name “Junko” in a confused fashion. Does he not know who Junko is? I know he wasn’t there when we used that final flashback light, but wouldn’t he already have used it on himself? Or not needed the lights in the first place? Something’s very wrong here.
If the mastermind were really tired of their game, why go through the effort of making that video of Kaito in the press?
But if it isn’t Kokichi, then the only one who can be the culprit is one of us. Can that really be true?
Kokichi admits he was lying about being the culprit. The real culprit of this case is someone super bad at hiding themselves.
Maki is still hell bent on Kokichi being the culprit. But we bring up the safety function to counter that.
Which means, he was dead by the time the video was taken.
The infrared sensor could be disabled with an electrobomb, but that would have affected the alarm system and Exisal remote control, so it’s unlikely that’s what happened.
Besides, if Kaito was crushed to death, what was dragged from the bathroom that made that bloodstain on the floor? Maki suggests that the bloodstain wasn’t Kaito’s in the first place. But we know Kaito sustained injuries beforehand. His coat had a blood-soaked hole in the sleeve.
Upon us mentioning this, Himiko gets very nervous. Even moreso upon us bringing up the crossbow.
Kokichi asks us who shot Kaito with the crossbow. It’s the blackened, right?
Kokichi keeps sounding somewhat confused whenever stuff related to previous games comes up. Hmmmm.
The culprit killed Kaito from outside using the crossbow. Perhaps everything that happened after that was Kokichi’s doing? Everything but the actual murder?
Hmmm. Did the arrows kill Kaito, though? If they were tipped with the poison, all the culprit would need to do would be to land one in his arm, and even if it wasn’t fatal on its own, it would become fatal thanks to the poison.
Maki continues to insist that Kokichi must be the suspect, and tries to emotionally manipulate us by pointing out how we keep suspecting our friends. As she vows to not let despair escape, Kokichi sets the trial back on track.
For some reason, Himiko is still freaking out over the phrase “small hole”. I’m not sure this is her pulling a Miu. I think there’s deeper meaning than that.
The blackened is whoever knew about the crossbow…Me or Maki?
And then there’s Himiko going to the hangar last night. Once that’s brought up, Himiko goes full panic mode and points out that the crossbow came from Maki’s lab. Well, if you never knew about the crossbow, how do you know that? (Other than an educated guess.) Anyways, Maki’s lab has no lock, anyone could’ve grabbed the crossbow.
Mass Panic Talk! Himiko claims to have gone to the hanger empty-handed, and left empty-handed. But Keebo said he saw her go in with something, and not come out with it. The black bag. The crossbow case.
Himiko pleads with us to believe her about the bag. She says she bought it there, but didn’t fire the crossbow inside. Well, I can believe that. She didn’t know how to assemble it. But that means it was either me or Maki, right?
Maki is strangely silent. But she finally says she didn’t teach Himiko how to assemble the crossbow. Himiko says she only brought the crossbow to the hangar on someone else’s request. In all likelihood, it was Kaito, and he was planning to kill Kokichi with it.
Kaito asked Himiko not to tell anyone. Huh?
Around evening time, Himiko was restless and walked near the hangar at some point in her roamings. Kaito called out to her. He asked for a crossbow and told Himiko he planned to disable Kokichi. She delivered it and left.
So, it sounds like Kaito attacked Kokichi with the crossbow, was disarmed, Kokichi grabbed the crossbow and shot Kaito, and that’s what happened. I don’t believe it for a second, though.
Shuichi says both of them shot the crossbow. Both of them had the same type of holes in their clothes.
Kokichi says he doesn’t remember whether or not he was shot. Maki dismisses the whole topic altogether – it leads the same conclusion no matter how you look at it. Kokichi killed Kaito.
Maki is awfully eager to get the vote on. But as she says, once again, that Kokichi is the culprit, Monokuma speaks up. Is she COMPLETELY sure about that?
Not all mysteries have been solved, and there’s definitely some suspicious things that we don’t know the truth behind. Such as, why hasn’t Kokichi left the Exisal at all? Is he even in there in the first place? We heard the Exisal speak in Kaito’s voice earlier, so whose voice comes from it isn’t conclusive proof. Kokichi tells us the Exisal has a voice changer, and he tells us that in Kaito’s voice. In fact, he’s now pretending to have been Kaito the entire time. Something is weird about this Exisal in the courtroom.
Kaito? says there’s a bit of a situation and that’s why he had to trick us. I wonder if anyone is in there at all?
Kaito claims to be in the Exisal because of a grievous injury that’s left him unable to stand. An injury that Kokichi gave him. Either way, the Exisal is clearly suspicious.
Most of the evidence we have points to Kaito being dead. Which means this is Kokichi, right?
When we try to say so, Monokuma gets us going on a scrum debate instead.
We can’t turn away from the truth. The truth of Kaito’s death.
Kokichi reveals himself again, but still doesn’t come out of the Exisal.
We need to look at the crossbow again. Maki gives us her permission.
If Kokichi and Kaito shot each other with the crossbow, that would explain why there’s three arrows in the bathroom instead of one. It’s awfully strange though, because Himiko only gave Kaito one arrow. All three arrows were stained with blood. And there were three perforations in their combined clothes. So who brought the two extra arrows? How did they even get inside the hangar?
They were inside the Exisal when it entered the hangar…Keebo did say he saw an Exisal enter the hangar last night. But how did they pilot it? Did they get Kokichi’s remote control?
Maki questions how anyone could get inside an Exisal while it was moving. Keebo says that even if you could use an electrohammer to make an Exisal stop, everyone’s hammers were charging. But then there’s the hammer we found near where the Exisals were parading. And who didn’t have their hammer with them when they showed up for breakfast? Maki Harukawa, that’s who.
I’ve got an idea as to her motive, too. We haven’t had an intermission to this trial, so I doubt she’s the actual culprit. But, if everyone guesses wrong, then all the students get executed, including Kokichi. A suicide attack, you could call it. That’s why she said she’d defeat despair, no matter what she had to sacrifice.
Maki admits to being the person who infiltrated the hangar with an Exisal, bringing two arrows with them. She shot the crossbow, but didn’t kill anyone?
Maki says that the arrow wounds wouldn’t kill anyone. But we remember the poison bottle.
Hmmm. Maybe the intermission doesn’t happen without the Monokubs? In which case, we could be near the end of the case, and Maki could be the true culprit. Either way, it’s clear she was trying to get everyone here killed, because that would include Kokichi.
All evidence points to Maki…but, Shuichi declares that they don’t need to follow that evidence. Everyone is shocked. Could we end this, taking Kokichi down with us? We could, but that’s not what we SHOULD do, right?
Shuichi doesn’t think Maki’s the culprit. He begs Maki to tell the truth. The truth only she knows.
Oh, here’s our intermission.
That was short. No Kubs, after all.
Maki says the motive for the murder was the flashback light. Specifically, realizing that Kokichi was a Remnant of Despair, Maki wanted to kill him. So she snuck into the hangar to kill Kokichi. Upon getting out of the Exisal cockpit, she saw Kaito and Kokichi fighting each other. Kokichi had an arrow in his arm, probably from Kaito. Kokichi took out the remote for the Exisal, so Maki hopped off of it, and shot him in the back with an arrow. Maki chose a poison for the arrow that wasn’t immediately lethal, so that she could make Kokichi confess what he was up to before he died. Maki believes something is strange about Kokichi’s behavior…and she suspects he isn’t the mastermind. His actions are very strange for someone claiming to be the mastermind.
Kokichi claimed to not know anything about the remnants of despair. As much as I suspect this is the truth in some manner, Maki thought he was being usual Kokichi, the liar. So she shot him one final time. And Kaito dove into the line of fire.
Maki panicked and rushed to Shuichi’s research lab in search of an antidote. But by the time she got back, the hangar had been closed off. Maki threw the antidote through the bathroom window, where Kaito managed to grab it. And then Kokichi overpowered Kaito and stole it from him, and Kaito died. Kokichi drank the antidote, curing his own poison, and leaving Kaito to die, with Maki as the blackened.
Kaito told Maki that he protected Kokichi because he didn’t want her to kill anybody. I have an idea of where this is going. Did Kaito kill himself so that Maki wouldn’t be the blackened?
Kaito told Maki to run away and live, but Maki simply charged to the front of the hangar. She tried to break the control panel preventing access with her knife. But she failed.
And that’s when she decided to kill Kokichi, even if it meant everyone else’s life.
Kokichi mocks Maki. Even when she draws a knife, it’s not like she can fight him when he’s in an Exisal.
Kokichi urges everyone to vote. Maki dies, or everyone else dies. Whichever option people want is what they should vote for.
Shuichi stops the vote from happening. Not until all the mysteries have been solved. There’s more to Maki’s testimony than what she told us. How did she not set off the alarm system when trying to break into the hangar? She only had one electrobomb, so did Kokichi use the bomb? He must have used it to do something besides deactivate the alarm, though. Why would he deactivate his own alarm? He had the remote, after all.
So, the only other reason he could’ve detonated it was to deactivate the hydraulic press. Or more specifically, it’s sensor. And if Kokichi did that, it must not have been working otherwise. Which means Kaito wasn’t dead. Does this mean Kokichi’s the blackened after all?
It sure seems like it.
We can’t tell if Maki or Kokichi is the blackened. Kaito could’ve died from either the press or from the arrow. What do we do, then? Have half of us vote for one and half vote for the other, and whoever the true blackened is gets executed? Seems reasonable. Someone in-game needs to suggest this, then.
Oh. Kokichi planned things so that the only one who knows the truth is himself. A murder mystery that can’t be solved. At first, we didn’t know who the victim was. But that was solvable. The identity of the culprit, however, isn’t.
We end up being forced directly into a vote! But thankfully it doesn’t count.
Kokichi says that Monokuma knows who the culprit is, just like he always does. But Monokuma doesn’t look too happy about that question. Does Monokuma NOT know?
He doesn’t. Huh. HUH.
If Monokuma doesn’t know, then…Kokichi was trying to commit a strange crime indeed. Not just a crime we couldn’t solve, but a crime Monokuma couldn’t solve either. Does this mean he was lying about being the mastermind?
Monokuma has previously known every detail of every case. We might not see them, but there might be hidden cameras watching us, right? Whatever it is, it was electronic. THAT is the real reason Kokichi used the electrobomb.
In that case, Monokuma told the truth. The Exisals in the courtyard of the cyber plaza were observing him. But not on his own command. Kokichi having the Exisals isn’t part of Monokumas plan, then?
Maki stole one of the Exisals, but the other three Exisals didn’t chase after her. They were set to only watch Monokuma.
Yeah, Kokichi probably isn’t the mastermind after all. But then, who is? And if Kokichi isn’t, then the reason he has no idea what the remnants of despair are is because he’s not a member, much let alone the leader?
Monokuma refuses to tell us if Kokichi is the mastermind, but Shuichi points out that Monokuma would be an accomplice to Kokichi by not saying anything on the subject. After a bit, Monokuma reveals to us that Kokichi is neither controlling Monokuma or being the mastermind. Kokichi only knows so much because he got the card key last chapter and learned the truth from Monokuma’s secret room. And what he didn’t know for sure, he guessed. Which means not all of the things we learned from Kokichi are necessarily true.
Still, there’s the matter of the Exisals. Maybe the remote control wasn’t Kokichi’s. Maybe it was made by Miu.
Yup, there it is! Miu made the remote. It doesn’t directly control the Exisals, actually. It just hijacks the controls. It’s a remote that can hijack any electronic device.
Kokichi wanted to take over the game and become the new mastermind, but he wasn’t the mastermind behind Monokuma.
Monokuma once again hints that there might not be a mastermind at all. Could Monokuma really be just his own AI, like I initially suspected?
The mastermind isn’t Kokichi Oma. It isn’t Junko Enoshima. Then who, if anyone?
Kokichi uses Monokuma’s ignorance of who the culprit is to force him to be part of the class trial. Before, he sat in his chair and watched us debate. Now, he no longer has that luxury.
So that’s what Kokichi is after. He doesn’t want us to survive. He doesn’t want Monokuma to triumph. All that he wants, is to be the winner. He’ll beat everyone else here to do that, including Monokuma himself. In fact, not killing us other participants will help him achieve an even greater victory over Monokuma.
If Kokichi can keep Monokuma in the dark until the trial ends, he will have won this game.
Once again, Kokichi has no idea what we mean when we say a term related to previous games. He really doesn’t remember.
Monokuma surprisingly vouches for us. We’re Ultimates from Hope’s Peak. We won’t go down easy. And with that, Monokuma allies with us for this trial.
Monokuma says that when we learn a new fact, we learn something along with it. In this case, we need to re-examine the video Kokichi showed us of the hydraulic press killing Kaito. There’s a reason he showed us the video. He wanted us to see Kaito’s body. Because the truth of this case is…
…that Kaito isn’t the victim? Huh? But, that IS Kokichi inside the Exisal, right? Who else besides those two could have possible died?
It’s strange that in the murder video, the hydraulic press stopped for a second before crushing Kaito. Someone must have pressed the force stop button. Still, how do you switch one body out for another in a mere second? By making the time longer than a second. The video has that weird pause for one reason only. The press stopped at the same time as the camera, and resumed at the same time as the camera. Still, who’s the blackened? I don’t think Kaito is in that Exisal, but I could be wrong.
The camera was set up near the control panel for the press, so that they could be started and stopped at the same time. Hence the strange camera angle.
With the camera angle, we also couldn’t confirm that the body was still Kaito after the second-long pause.
If Kokichi was the mastermind, then he could take one of the dead Ultimate’s bodies and switch it with Kaito. But he wasn’t the mastermind.
Monokuma has already disposed of all the dead bodies. So it isn’t possible at all. Doesn’t that mean the only one Kaito could have switched places with was Kokichi? But Kaito’s pulled off a really convincing Kokichi impression if he’s in the Exisal. And Kaito used the flashback light, so he’d know about the remnants of despair, and Junko Enoshima, and the whole shebang.
If only Kokichi and Kaito were in the hangar…and everything we’ve said is true…they had to have been working together. But…what…how, why?
And if the victim wasn’t Kaito, and therefore was Kokichi…Does this mean that Kaito is in the Exisal after all? I don’t understand anything?
If Kaito is really in that Exisal, then-
Huh?
Maki isn’t convinced at all. She thinks she killed Kaito. But that can’t be true. Perhaps what Maki is after right now, is a way to save Kaito from being executed. But we can’t let that happen, because everyone else will die. If we can figure out how Kokichi could have drank the antidote without actually doing so, we might arrive at the truth. The truth that Kokichi raised a bottle of antidote to his lips, pretended to drink it, and once Maki was gone, gave the antidote, still in its bottle, to Kaito. In exchange, Kaito had to agree to work with Kokichi, and kill him.
Did Kokichi plan his own murder just to confuse us?
“Only Kokichi could think of something so nefarious.” *looks at Dangan Ronpa 2 chapter 5*
“Kokichi” calls us mere extras, side characters to the battle between him and Monokuma. Himiko is fine with that. Extras won’t get executed if we get things wrong. Monokuma swiftly tells her otherwise.
Shuichi decides to forget what he said about the antidote being the reason for Kaito’s co-operation. No. If Kaito is going along with this plan, there must be a good reason. And we need to figure that reason out.
The person inside the Exisal refuses to give up. They keep claiming there’s no evidence that the body switch happened. Whoever is in there wants to ruin the killing game by making Monokuma make a mistake. Monokuma believes our argument…so if we convince people to vote for someone, and Monokuma says we’re right, and then it turns out we weren’t, he can’t execute anyone.
It’s time for perjury.
Shuichi tells everyone he’s sorry. All this time, he’s been lying, to defend Kokichi. He’s even seen Kokichi since they discovered the crime scene. Which means that Kokichi is alive and killed Kaito. Or so we say, but in truth, we know it’s the other way around. Monokuma doesn’t know that, though.
Time to gamble everything on Kokichi and Kaito’s plan.
But as we try to do so, someone steps in to tell us the risk is too great.
Kaito stands up and leaves the Exisal cockpit.
And with that, the trial is over. Kaito tells all of us to vote for him.
We have no choice now. We have to believe in Kaito, even if it means he dies.
So that’s that. The vote is over. Monokuma confirms that Kaito is the blackened.
Ah, so the reason Kaito mimicked Kokichi so well was because Kokichi gave him an entire script, applicable to most trial situations.
Everyone’s heartbroken over what they know is gonna happen. Maki is also upset that Kaito killed, despite saying he wouldn’t. Kaito starts to explain…
The message in the courtyard. Using Gonta for murder. The remote control. All of that was done in an attempt to make people believe that Kokichi was the mastermind. Kokichi tried to act like the mastermind so that the killing game would end. But even after he showed us the truth of the outside world, it didn’t stop. Because of Maki. Because there was only one bottle of antidote. Because Kokichi played his part a little too well. And because the real mastermind among us made sure that Maki would reach this point, where she felt she had to kill Kokichi.
So that’s it. The flashback light gave us the will to live. But it also contained a trap. If we thought Kokichi was a Remnant of Despair, of course we’d want him dead. And one of us had the means to do so. Maki…
It IS awfully convenient that Kokichi is a Remnant of Despair. Too convenient.
Kaito doesn’t know about the flashback light? Why not? Wasn’t he there?
Kokichi told Kaito about his plan. The plan to throw the true mastermind off balance. A plan that involved Kaito killing Kokichi. And the plan would have worked, if Kaito had just stayed in the Exisal.
As for why Monokuma wouldn’t break his own rules…despair entertainment. Someone, somewhere, is an audience for this game. Which raises the question of who that could be. Aren’t we the only humans left alive? What, are aliens watching? Is it us, the player? I mean, we already did the meta “we’re in a video game” in DR2, so this would be one step beyond.
Monokuma refuses to tell us what kind of person the true mastermind is.
Just as I thought. Kaito agreed to Kokichi’s plan so that Maki would avoid becoming the blackened.
Kokichi went out glad he wasn’t boring. Well, he wasn’t. Success! Kaito got to go to space and Kokichi got to be entertaining and entertained.
Maki is none too happy about being used as blackmail material. Kaito tells her that he was in when he heard that the killing game would be ruined. No need to feel guilty.
And Kaito is almost out of time anyways. He doesn’t mind dying. He fulfilled his dream…and, the truth is, he was gonna die soon anyways.
But, it’s odd. Kaito remember passing the medical exam for being an astronaut just fine. So when did he get sick? Could it be…the virus that drove humanity into extinction? But, aren’t we immune to it for some reason? Monokuma suggests that the virus was still dormant when Kaito was selected for the Gofer Project.
Kaito was able to convince himself to go along with Kokichi’s plan because he knew Shuichi would figure everything out in the end. Even if the part where the trial would get declared invalid didn’t work, though, the plan wasn’t a failure. It let Kaito get closer to the mastermind’s lair. Behind the truth we uncovered, there’s another truth. A real truth.
As for his last words, Kokichi says he lied to us about enjoying the killing game. And not just to us. To himself, to. In order to survive, he pretended to enjoy the killing game. But in the end, he was willing to give his life to stop it. We’ll never know whether that final statement is a lie itself, though.
Kaito finishes off by apologizing to Shuichi. The truth is, Kaito was jealous of him. Kaito Momota, Luminary of the Stars, Bona Fide Hero, and yet, he says, the true hero was Shuichi. Shuichi tries explaining to Kaito how he’s only been able to save everyone with Kaito’s support, but Kaito starts to succumb to the virus. Even with him about to die anyways…Maki won’t let him die via execution. Keebo and Shuichi also decide to defend Kaito and fight Monokuma. Monokuma…
…laughs?
When a life ends, everyone is sad. It sure would be nice if you could recycle that life. Huh?
If we could recycle life, the world would be filled with hope. But why is Monokuma saying this? It’s not like he wants hope, right?
Kids? Grand re-entrance? Is he gonna revive the Monokubs and have them use the Exisals to keep is in line?
Sure enough, the Monokubs all appear. The latest model Monokubs. Factory-new, so no memories of their previous models. And they’re not the only ones who are replaceable. Monokuma says that it isn’t as hard as we might think to find other people to participate in the killing game. Anyways, the Exisals are operable by the Kubs now, so no matter what we do, Kaito’s toast.
Maki doesn’t give a shit about the Exisals. She’ll fight to the bitter end if necessary, even if it’s to protect a guy who’s about to fall dead anyways. Kaito tells her to stop. He’s going to die, and he’ll be damned if Maki goes with him. Besides, the remote control and the last electrobomb were in Kokichi’s possession. So they would have gotten destroyed when Kokichi was killed.
But even with all that, Maki refuses to give up. She’s an assassin, always fighting to kill. But she’s found someone who she can fight to protect. Someone stubborn, annoying, and…wonderful. A true friend. Hell, forget friend, she’s flat-out fallen in love with him.
Kaito says defending him isn’t an option. He’s almost dead anyways. It’s all he can do to stay standing here and now.
At first, he says, Maki trained with him so she could fight her enemy. The one she hated more than anything else. Herself. But now, she’ll be fine. Because she’s learned to care about herself. To have friends.
Kaito says it’s time. Monokuma can start the punishment now. But as he prepares to die, Kaito tells Monokuma that he better watch out. Because Kaito believes in his friends, and those friends will NOT lose to him.
After some final goodbyes, Kaito says he’s gonna end things on his own terms. He’s going to die in a way that isn’t part of the execution script.
Ultimate Astronaut Execution: Blast Off, Second Ignition
The execution starts off the same as Blast Off from DR1, but then the capsule turns upside down, burrows it’s way through the planet, comes out the other side, and as it is about to fall, Kaito dies of his sickness. True to Kaito’s words, the execution failed to kill him in the scripted way. The capsule falls back to Earth, crashing into the courtroom. The rubble from the capsule hitting the ground knocks Keebo’s ahoge right off his head. The capsule opens, Kaito’s body falls out, and Monokuma looks hella pissed off.
Keebo says he’s fine. Monokuma mutters under his breath. Shuichi and Maki tell Monokuma that since Kaito died before the end of the punishment, Kaito won. He beat Monokuma.
Monokuma says it doesn’t matter. The killing game will continue until there are only two students left, per the regulations. Shuichi notes that if Monokuma’s following the regulations to the letter, then the killing game is definitely being shown to someone.
The new Kubs leave. Monokuma stays behind to give us a prize for working so hard. Yeah, like we’d accept a prize from you ever again.
Monokuma also says there’s nothing a participant can do to end the killing game. Emphasis on participant. Interesting.
Anyways, Monokuma’s prize is yet another flashback light. Without warning, he whips it out and exposes us to it. Strangely enough, it doesn’t seem to do anything. Monokuma promises us we’ll remember what’s in it soon enough, though. And that memory will make us realize that we have but one choice. Despair. Hope doesn’t exist in this place at all. The killing game will continue. And then Monokuma leaves.
Kaito is dead. But, we’re ever closer to finding out the identity of the true mastermind.
And right on queue, we cut away from Shuichi and gang to an unknown location. Inside a giant glass case is a Monokuma head. The white half has been stripped off, revealing the wires and ropes underneath. And standing in front of it is a silhouette of a girl. A silhouette we know very well. The silhouette of the Ultimate Despair, Junko Enoshima.
Junko declares that as long as she’s around, the killing game will never end. After all, it’s so much fun. Hey, quick question, how the fuck are you alive, what form have you taken to still exist? Like seriously, I know I predicted Junko being the mastermind, but that was at least 50% a joke. I just...I cannot believe that Junko’s the mastermind yet a-fucking-gain. Will there ever be a Dangan Ronpa game without Mastermind Junko? Unlikely, IMHO.
After the trial ended, later that night, Shuichi wanders outside the dorm. He finds himself standing in the spot in the courtyard where he, Maki, and Kaito trained. As we stand there, silently, Maki approaches us.
Shuichi feels like he drove Kaito into a corner. Kaede, Kaito…he feels responsible for their deaths. And he feels so…lonely. Lonely, sad, lost.
Shuichi knows he owes his life to Kaito. Maki says she does too. And Maki is grateful to Kaito for what he did for her, so she won’t cry anymore.
Tsumugi and Himiko also arrive. They also want to train in Kaito’s memory. And so, we train, while Shuichi reflects on how his friends are his hope. As long as he has his friends, he will always have hope, even in this place. And he will keep living, even if there’s nowhere to return to, to honor the memories of those that wanted to live and couldn’t.
So we’re gathered here. Except Keebo. Where is he, fixing his broken ahoge?
Ah. His broken ahoge was where his inner voice was located. And now, all that he can hear is silence. But, that just means his will is his and his alone. And he will never give in to despair. He will force this killing game to end. And he plans to do that by destroying the Ultimate Academy. Hmmm. Maybe don’t do that.
Too late. He must have broken the End Wall, because meteorites start bombarding the school grounds.
Well, this ain’t good.
And as a prize for clearing the chapter, we get Kaito’s jacket.
Next time, the fuckery continues in chapter 6.

Question: Some headcanons on the difference in behavior from Amuro/Rei/Bourbon? Like, for example: Who is more Arrogant? Silly? Flirty? Loud? Sarcastic? Idk, what ever you can think off xD Because I have the feeling all his personas are so different from each other. And I love HC ❤ [I'm sorry, I will send this ask to 2 more people, I need more hc in my live and couldn't decide to who of you three I should send it too ;^; and I call him Amuro even when Rei is his true name, I'm so used to Amuro]
Ahahahaha awwww thank you for the ask anon
Also SORRY anon because I’m fairly certain you wanted headcanons of Rei in different specific situations that were probably meant to be mostly silly. I am not terribly good at being silly sometimes so instead I wrote a 800 word summary of my disorganized thoughts on how I interpret Rei and his different personas. I apologize for being a Mood Killer in this case and I hope you will accept this offering as an apology.
Hmmm… To be honest, I think Amuro and Rei as personas are fairly similar to one another in terms of their speech patterns and everyday demeanor; it’s really difficult to maintain a persona completely different than your normal demeanor for long periods of time. With Amuro, he has to go to work most days with Azusa, and he’s keeping a constant eye on Conan and company, so he’d pick something that’s more on the affable side to seem less suspicious, but also something that’s difficult for him to slip up on.
Date calls him a gentleman, and I don’t think he’s acting in that case, so I’d probably conclude that Rei is like Amuro, but with a much harder slant to his character. One of the ways you can catch when Rei is acting is when he does something more characteristic of his true self as Amuro before realizing it and pulling back. The two examples I’m thinking of are his intro case and the rock star case: in the former, the part where he dodges the husband’s fist before stepping back and pretending he’s afraid of violence, and in the latter, the one part where he makes excellent deductions before just stepping back like “Well I’m still learning to be a detective!!”
Rei is determined, calculating, and probably fairly arrogant–I say “probably” because I peg the whole case with him and the FBI agents as exaggerated acting, not false in how he feels but definitely scaled up to prepare for Vermouth’s gig. He’s definitely confident in himself and his own abilities, and he’s willing to take great risks based on them. He does what he thinks is right, and sometimes that means taking judgments on whether the ends justify the means (see: again, the case right before he confronts Subaru).
Amuro, naturally then, is him more laidback and polite–he pretends to be opposed to violence, and he keeps his personality nontheatening and easy to overlook. He defers a lot to his supposed superiors (like Kogoro), too, and he generally follows the path of least resistance. I also doubt he’d ever talk badly about anyone who wasn’t Shuichi, haha. So, if you ask me, he’s most likely to be intentionally silly as Amuro. (See: calling Kogoro Mouri-sensei. I’m pretty sure Rei likes messing with Kogoro a little bit.)
Bourbon strikes me as an aspect of Rei’s personality that’s been magnified and intensified–Rei acts a lot like Bourbon when he thinks he’s around Shuichi, like the rock star case, in which he has no incentive to be acting like Bourbon specifically. Which leads me to think that the murderousness at Shuichi there is all Rei.
In general, Bourbon’s speech patterns also match Rei’s in my mind, but he adds in a lot of venom behind his delivery (affably evil, if you would). He’s trying to embody a manipulative, cunning villain who just happens to talk politely–and his personality as Rei is far from that, but not too far. Generally speaking, undercover agents need to understand the people they’re pretending to be, and Rei has to be the same way–so rather than shying away from Bad People And Things, I see him as more of a person who understands them and how they work, and Bourbon is mostly pretending to embrace that understanding. (Possibly because he’s had a past with them? Who knows what his relationship with Elena was all about?) And actually embracing it, in many ways. See: his original decision to hand Shuichi over to the BO to get into their inner circle.
That being said, most undercover agents also need something concrete to ground them, usually some sort of morality-related thing, and it’s usually religion, or their family, or something like that. He’s got none of that in any persona, the closest thing being his own sense of justice and determination to see the BO obliterated off the face of Japan. So perhaps that’s why he’s so prone to slippage and forgetting his real targets, as Shuichi puts it.
Honestly, I think Rei has a lot of honor too–he’s mad in movie 20 when Shuichi seems to be implying that he doesn’t trust Japan’s police, and he’s mad at the FBI for figuratively stepping on the PSB’s toes. A lot of his strongest motivations are extremely personal in nature. (Cough, cough, Akaaaaaaaaaaaai!!!)
ANYWAYS, I probably have more to say on this subject, but I can’t really think of anything right now, haha :’D That’s most of my thoughts about Rei! If we’re not talking about Gundam crossovers and parallels anyways because I could write entire essays on that. But this is kind of way too long as is. It’s basically my personal interpretation of Rei!
