"Well... as 'comfortable' as a person can even get in a place like this, I suppose..." Despite how that might have sounded, Shuichi didn't particularly mean that in a bad way. Frankly, he didn't expect to ever get comfortable in this giant place... but as he sat in his room, having been looking out the window before she came: he didn't feel... as on edge like he always used to. Elise and her guys haven't done anything to harm him so far... Mostly because he's been on good behavior and not doing anything to warrant him getting hurt. He's even been casually talking with Elise more and more; almost as if they were just regular people, rather than a mafia boss and detective..

"So I guess I'm alright. I will say: the hospitality you have been providing me, I am grateful for. That being said, was there.... something you wanted to talk about, today?"

He asks out of curiosity, really. He knew she was a very busy woman otherwise, after all.

...Well. That looked like it had to hurt. At least Shuichi's moaning sounded more like embarrassed whining than actual serious pain. "If it helps you feel any better, the same thing's happened to me more than once before." Makoto chuckled, crouching down and holding out his hand for the other to grab.

"Ouuughhhhhggghghgh......." And muffled moans in his hands as he covers his face, of embarrassed whining far more than the pain of having fell out of a tree, it was! It probably wouldn't had been so bad if no one saw him laying on the ground so pathetically like this. Even worse because it was Makoto that encountered him! Thank god he's too kind to ever laugh at him...

"I-I guess that's true..." That was true... for Makoto, these kinds of accidents happen on the daily for him. So he'd understand his pain... or was it more like Shuichi understands Makoto's pain? Either way, he finally moves his hands away from his face and gives a sheepish smile of his own, as he grabs Makoto's hand so he can be helped up, shakily getting back on his feet.

"Th-Thank you, Makoto-kun... I'll be okay. Y.. Yeah, I'm going to be avoiding climbing trees for a while. H-Hahaha...."

Shuichi has only done it a couple of times before in the past, and each time, he remembered how fun it was and his own delighted surprise when he received a nice gift.

"I'm sure they would be for the idea, too. I know it's a small possibility I'd pull your name, but I hope I'll be your Secret Santa."

"... Your cat-like tendencies are getting out of hand, Shuichi. Climbing trees and perching yourself on them? What's next, knocking over various breakable items for attention?"

"...Ah-" The screaming he had been doing just a few seconds ago when he was falling, comes to an abrupt stop when Izuru thankfully catches him before he could hit the ground! "I-Izuru...." The relieved smile he gives would probably look a lot more grateful... if he wasn't extremely embarrassed being held up by the back of his jacket! Like holding up a naughty cat from doing something reckless and hurting itself....

"Th...Thank you.... a-and listen!! It wasn't me trying to be a cat this time, I-I swear!! N-Nor would I do that just for attention...!!! A-Anyway, I um... saw this stray cat on top the tree a-and thought it needed rescuing! So I climbed it and was inching closer until the branch broke... and the cat immediately jumped off and landed safely before scurrying off.... guess it didn't need saving after all, huh! Ahaha! h-haha....."

A long pause, and now he's hanging his head low. His face is so red from embarrassment, he could die...!!! "Please erase this from your memoryyyy...."

Maki says nothing, simply looking between the broken tree branch and the detective on the ground. Her look of disappointment/disbelief says it all.

As he stares up at the sky, sprawled out on the grass from the tree he just fell out of; the worst part, funnily enough, wasn't the very fact he fell, made an embarrassing shriek as he rocketed towards the ground, smacking his back against the grass with a very hard thud.. or the way his whole body, especially his back and the back of his head, was throbbing and sore; no.... The worst pain, greater than all that..

...Was the fact that Maki witnessed all of it, and giving him such a look...!!!! Oh she could not have picked a worse time to find him....

"D-Don't look at me like thaaat....." He's so embarrassed, he can't even look at her. He's hiding his face in his hands, whining. He can never face Maki ever again after this. "Just kill me, please...."

"Ah, I see. That's good to hear... okay! I'll continue taking it easy, then. Yes.... even if I had to so to recover faster, it really is..."

As he takes another bite, he listens in intrigue. "Ohhh...! I see I see! How wonderful to be able to get such nice treats like this by your school. Even if it did melt, I would still eat it. Especially since you got it for me! Thank you so much again...and I see you got your cannolis." He smiles, knowing how much Chihiro loves those things.

"Ahh how nice it would be if we could be able to buy such luxuries in this world, too... then again, I'm not I would trust most demons to make anything for us unless they're our friends... or, if there was a workable kitchen somewhere and I could just make them, myself! I'd happily make desserts for us.... While I know I truly only need to drink blood for 'food': human foods are so much more fascinating and fun to eat. Especially being able to enjoy food together with others... Hehe, being a human must be so fun...."

It sometimes makes him wish he was one... but he knows he shouldn't say such things. If he was one, he wouldn't be able to help Chihiro with his powers... Or a possibility he would have never met him. He wouldn't want a reality he didn't know him..

"Take all the time you need to heal up. Nothing serious has come up-- So relaxing like this is always a treat."

Chihiro had unfused with Aogami for a bit-- Allowing the Protofiend to use his own body again. So the party would rest until the next few major events. Any moment like this was always relaxing... Even just running simple errands was relaxing. Everything to collecting gems, demon parts, and even retrieving something as simple as a dessert for a vampire with human-like tastes. If there was a thing Chihiro learned about Shuichi... He had expensive tastes regarding foods and drink-- Much like the Nahobino himself... Listen if the world was at war, why not indulge in something as superficial as luxurious as fancy desserts?

"I'm glad you like it. I picked at random-- There's a European-style patisserie near campus so I picked up something before heading into Da'at. Lucky it didn't melt before I gave it to you." Chihiro on the other hand had a treat for himself; a cannoli. He could never get enough of these things, crunchy, sweet, and delicious! He could eat an entire box if he wanted but he had to hold off-- Especially now that he was fighting all the time.

"O...Oh, is that s-so? E-Ehehee.." He rubs the back of his head with a darkening blush on his cheeks. No matter how often Amai calls him cute or flirts with him, it manages to fluster him each time. Not that he minds... Amai is a very cute guy. Plus, with how delicious their sweets are, he can't help but react excitedly to them every time!

A shy giggle at that 'as sweet as him' part, he nods his head as he replies: "Don't worry, Amai-kun: as great as a baker that you are, I know you'll implement the flavors just right. I already know to expect to enjoy them, just like everything else you've made for me."

For a minute, he almost took that seriously, eyes going wide with an even darker blush on his face before Amai says they were just kidding. ..Not that he would have had a problem with doing that, flustered as it just made him.. "O-Oh, a-ahaha, I see, I-I see!! And you call me the sweet one... you're truly too kind, Amai-kun. Thank you... I'll always be happy with the things that you make!" He gives them a brighter smile, showing he truly means that. Still, he hopes to be able to do something for Amai, to fully show his gratitude for all the delicious sweets they treat him to.

“Hehe, it’s hard for Amai to not spoil you when you always have suuuuch a cute reaction whenever Amai shares sweets with you! It’s so cute! Amai could just eat you up, you know?” Or you could eat me up, they think, but don’t say. While they wouldn’t mind, they didn’t want to risk making someone as shy as Shuichi uncomfortable, especially since they enjoy his company so much. 

“Doesn’t it? Hehe, it would really really cut through the bitterness, waaaay more than white chocolate… hm… but if Amai is going to try to put those flavors in a macaron that suits Shu-chan the most…. Amai has to be careful… things that are as sweet as Shu-chan might be too intense of a flavor and take away the coffee taste.

“You don’t gotta, though, if you want, you can give me a kiss to repay it all~...kidding. Amai is just super super happy to see Shu-chan happy with what Amai is making!” They didn’t need repayment, really. His friendship was something that Amai deeply cherished so just getting that was enough for them.

"Huh....?" Shuichi blinks, looking taken aback for a moment. Did he overstep, he wonders? He wasn't sure why else he would say that... Unless Rantaro did not personally consider him a friend. He hopes that wasn't the case... "Wh... What makes you say that? Is it wrong to refer to you as such? U... Unless you're uncomfortable with me calling you one. I'm sorry if so... but I don't see why I should be cautious. I don't think you're a bad person or anything..."

Maybe he seemed naive to say this... but he didn't care. Rantaro is his friend and even with his warning, he wasn't going to think of him otherwise. He just hopes that Rantaro will come around and feel the same way, someday: feeling okay with Shuichi calling him one...

"Ah..." He expected him to say no, but he still couldn't help the disappointed lowering of his head. Though hearing that he can come along next time makes him a bit more hopeful. "If you would be okay with that, then I would be happy to. Hm?" Though hearing that Rantaro would rather ask him as a client, makes a look of surprise cross his face for a moment.

"As a... client?" Finding missing people was one of his specialties, so he can understand why Rantaro wanted his assistance as a detective. He just felt he didn't have to do all that... But maybe like this, Rantaro would feel more comfortable being vulnerable with Shuichi if he does it like this...

"Th...That makes sense, yes. If that's what you would prefer, Rantaro... but in that case, why not just ask me as a client for this trip you're about to go on? Is there....a specific reason why you'd rather me just come along on the next one instead of this one...?"

For a detective, Shuichi could be surprisingly easy to read. Granted, there was no rule stating that detectives had to have perfect poker faces, but it wasn't hard to imagine how that might cause problems in a case. Since he'd picked up on it, he didn't figure there would be any problem in pressing on it. It was a simple curiosity, something he just couldn't help but press on in the expression he was met with. Even so, the answer managed to surprise him.

So the detective wanted to come along with him to help? Cases must have been slow, then. He couldn't think of any other reason why this sort of offer would be extended to him. At least, not until that last part. This was an offer being made to him as a friend? That was how Shuichi saw it?

“Ah, Shuichi… I appreciate it, really, but…” How should he put this, exactly? There was probably no way to say it without coming off as a bit severe. “I think you should be more careful with who you call a friend.” This wasn't intended as a threat of violence, despite his awareness that it may sound that way. It just felt unwise to refer to him as a friend. Shuichi wasn't aware of the full extent of things. He didn't know just how many sisters he'd lost, nor just how much blame for it fell to him. If people at Hope's Peak were aware of all of that, Rantaro felt certain that they wouldn't be as patient or welcoming with him as they were. There was little doubt in his mind about that.

That being said, he was also aware that it may just help his case. If bringing Saihara along one of these times could ensure even one of his sisters was safe, he owed it to them to do so, didn't he? “Maybe on my next trip, you could come along and scope things out with me? But I wouldn't want you to do it as a friend.” That title could be too easily rescinded with whatever he may discover while they were away. “I'd rather be a client. I hope that makes sense.”

"I see.... a-and now, now, be nice... Chihiro-kun is very smart!" As his classmate, Shuichi knows that all too well! Even as a fellow honors student, he's always amazed at how well Chihiro does on his academics... despite being surprisingly air-headed, sometimes...

"E-mail? Oh, u-um: nowadays, it's much more common and convenient to message people via texting. That's why this app, LINE, is very popular and widely used by pretty much everyone; I use it on my phone, too. It's actually pretty easy to use! You just..waaagh!! I'm sorry!!! I didn't mean tooo!!!" ("How did he know I was thinking that?! Am I that obvious?!?")

Shrieking, he is immediately turning his head away from him. He does not like the way his eyes turned red just now!! "A-Anyway!!" He is looking back towards him! "H-How about you do not look like you want to kill me and I continue teaching you how to use this phone, okay? Okay! Um, first, let's add each other's contacts! Then from there, we can message each other on the app. Here, I'll send you my number and then you can add me like that, to make it easier..."

After a minute, Naoki'll get a notification saying: 'This is me.' "You got it? Then next...." He makes sure Naoki adds his contact under his name by watching and helping with anything he might need with it, and guides him how to then add his contact on the app. "Alright...there you go...okay, now just type into this part right here." He points to the part where you type in your message. "And just type anything and I'll get it right away!"

"The most I can do is call that idiot...Hard to believe he's an honors student too." Someone that clueless? There was no way in hell Chihiro was considered one of the top students in his class... All while being part of certain sports clubs for extra credit. Whatever, with Chihiro out of the picture to teach him-- Shuichi was his best bet for now.

"... He told me to message him back. But not E-mail him? How am I supposed to message him?" 20 years ago, his way of IM someone was emailing them. It was practically the norm. And what he was getting at was... the LINE messaging app. Which was pre-installed when Chihiro had this phone-- he simply made another account using Naoki's email from... you know, 20 years ago! Hard to believe it still exists.

"Quit starin' at me like that too." His eyes flash a bright yellow colour to red.

It seems like Naoki caught on to Shuichi's thoughts of him being older. Listen he stopped aging when he gained immortality! Can you really blame him for not keeping up with the times!? He lived in hell for two decades! And with multiverse and timeline shenanigans... This was bound to happen!
