Not much longer after Amai woke up, so did Shuichi. "Mmm...." As silly as the thought felt to him, he was honestly happy to see that Amai was still nestled in his arms. They are just.. so warm and soft to hold... softer than any plushie or pillow he's snuggled against him, before. Honestly, he didn't want to get up: he wants to enjoy this feeling, just a little longer... but hearing that it's evening, they must have slept a lot longer than he expected.

("Evening...") Certainly, it did look much darker outside than before.. he doesn't think he's ever napped that long, before! Cuddling with Amai really did feel that great... "Ah-" Snapping out of his thoughts, he smiles down at them. "Good evening, Amai-kun.... yes. I did... I slept very well. One of the best naps I've ever had... with you to thank for that, of course." Despite the darkening blush on his face, his smile is warm, sincere.

"How... about you, Amai-kun? Did the nap feel just as nice for you, too....?"

Shuichi’s rapid heartbeat was certainly helping them drift off to sleep. Why it was so comforting, they didn’t fully understand. Maybe it was just because it was Shuichi’s heartbeat, one of the sweetest people they could ever imagine, but this had to be one of the best naps that they ever had, easily to the point that it would be a little late when they finally did wake up hours later. 

Humming a bit as they wake up, Amai pauses a moment before deciding to not get up. They neither wanted to disturb the sleeping detective nor did they want to leave the comforting warmth that he was so willing to share with them. Though, why their heart was beating so quickly while they waited, they weren’t entirely sure. Amai had slept with countless guys before, but Shuichi? It felt… different somehow. 

When the detective finally did start to wake up, they smile up at him. “Good evening… did you sleep well, Shu-chan?”

"I see..! It definitely looks it. They look so amazing ... I'm happy you could experience such a mesmerizing sight for yourself.." He hopes he can do the same one day in the future.... maybe when Rantaro has found his sisters and can travel solely for fun? That would be nice....

As Rantaro tells him about his favorite places, Shuichi's smile softens as he listens in intrigue.... "That sounds wonderful.... I'm glad you could visit your mother and the Christmas Markets there! I love Christmas Markets, so I can only imagine how nice those must have been.. Oh yeah? I know a storm is probably not the kind of thing most would want to catch, but I bet it must have looked especially pretty....a-ah, but I guess that would make it pretty cold, huh, aha .."

"Ahh, Maryland sounds very pretty, too....yeah! Snowy, but not bad enough where things don't need to shut down, is always the best feeling... I'm glad you managed to avoid the blizzards! I'd hate for you to get sick along your travels..."

While it may be relatively rare to find Rantaro on occasions where he wasn't busy, it wasn't impossible. And during these times, he made an effort to be cordial to his classmates. He may not have considered them friends, per se, but there was nothing wrong with spending a bit of time together. He'd accepted an invitation to visit Shuichi's dorm, and to bring along some travel photos of some of the colder places he'd visited.

He enjoyed the items laid out for him, including a nice tea to warm up with, and some pastries to snack on. While he may have kept clues from his travels close to his vest, he didn't mind sharing photos of places he'd been. They were certainly photogenic, and he would be remiss if he didn't take a momentary pause now and then to observe it while he was out. There were photos of scenic winter tundras, all the way to shots of the Eiffel Tower illuminated by streetlights and snowflakes.

“That was from a visit to Kiruna, Sweden… I think that's the clearest I'd ever seen the northern lights.” It was a wonder to witness, even if he'd been shivering the entire time. He liked to think of himself as having a pretty high temperature tolerance, but being north of the Arctic circle would do that.

Which was his favorite? He hummed. “Going to see my mom in France during Christmas has been fun… They have Christmas Markets over there that really make you feel festive. But it hardly snows there. This was a rare storm I managed to catch. Northern Sweden is a little too cold… I think seeing snow in Maryland was best between these. When I was there, it was just enough to coat everything without shutting the city down. I've heard they get massive blizzards there sometimes, so I'm glad I managed to miss that.”

("Now you understand?!") Which he desperately wanted to say out loud, but decided to keep it to himself, instead just giving a small sigh with a nod of his head. "Y-Yes, good..." Thank goodness he didn't burn anything, at least, and he hopes it stays that way...

"Y-You can't be serious..." Oh, but he's sure he is, much to his concern.... "W... Well you're not entirely wrong... heck, there probably already is an aviary at the school, if it's someone like Gundham-senpai. He takes great care of many of his animals... a-and hey, I don't have anything against them, I-I just can't approve of helping them by committing a crime!! L-Look...just..."

He sighs. Was he really going to entertain this plan...! "B-Before we do anything hasty, how about we see for ourselves if the birds are actually being treated bad, first, okay?"

“I’m just glad I didn’t set anything on fire, honestly.” He admitted with a sigh. He did absolutely burn his chicken nuggets however, so not only was his suffering was for nothing, but he ruined the pan and his sister was pissed. “I now understand why oven mitts exist too.” How could one not understand that?

“That’s only if I get caught! And well, … I guess it depends on the bird if I release it or not... but, we could always make an aviary at the school and put them there. I’m sure it would be useful for any students with a connection to animals. It would be an overall net positive, actually. What do you have against birds?” Now that he’s defended his ludicrous idea it was time to turn the table. Hopefully, he would come around and see the ingenious of his half-baked idea. At the very least, it would let him know if he should go to someone else for help with his plan or not.

"O-Okay...." Oh how relieved he was that Akira wasn't mad at him for grabbing his hand like that. Even if he did manage to fluster him, too.. an expression Shuichi is not sure he's actually seen from him, before.

Under better context, seeing a blush on his face like that again... would be nice... ("Ahhh what am I even thinking?!") Before he makes his own self even more flustered, he stuffs that thought, giving a more relaxed smile when he allows him to finish the job.

"Thank you..! I like helping you, so I'm glad you don't mind. Yes, good.... do that and your hand will feel much better in no time; and I'm sureca band-aid should do just the trick, yes...." He just gives a small chuckle when he says the water feels nice, not finding that weird at all. "I'm glad it's helping..."

With that, as Akira tends to his hand, Shuichi heads over to the pot and opens the lid, giving the meat and veggies a gentle stir. It was about time to start adding the curry blocks. So he does just that, breaking the needed amount into the pot and begins stirring some more to slowly start incorporating it. The more he cooked curry together with Akira, the more of of a natural he was at it. At this point, he could probably make the entire recipe by himself, he jokingly thinks to himself.

"R-right..." Goodness, he has gone as red as the tomatoes he used in curry. His embarrassment over holding his hand for so long was obvious, and Akira found it cute, deep down, yet he said nothing. Not wanting to make it even worse for him.

"No no, it's okay. Please don't worry about it. It's fine!" He reassured him upon hearing him stammer and placed his hand under the tap's running water after turning the handle. He visibly cringed a little, however, it helped with the burning sensation, like he said.

Then another chuckle left his lips at his offer, looking over at him. "Sure, I'd like that if you're so eager to help. Don't worry, I'll take care of my hand here. Maybe a band-aid will do... I'll get it later. The water feels nice..." Just a few more seconds of pain relief will do just fine.

He hoped that wasn't a weird thing to say.

"I see, I see..." He listens with intrigue. In a way, he could understand what Chihiro means. Before he met him and Naoki, his 'daily life's as a vampire was relatively doing the same things everyday; spending time at his mansion with his bats and fellow supernatural/vampiric demons, never really straying too far from his domain and never saw the human world when the barrier first broke... While it was nice, he never realized just how...fun it can be to travel the different regions, fighting alongside the god and demon king, back when he first joined Naoki's demon army.

"I understand that feeling quite well... the life of a human does sound fascinating, but I suppose even for you, it may not always be fun if it's not super eventful... so, I am glad you enjoy being a nahobino! I feel the same: traveling with you and everyone, has been very exciting for me, too!" And in turn, Shuichi could learn just how fascinating humans are! He's happy he could meet such a kind one like Chihiro... and why he will never allow anyone to harm him if he can help it. He's never even tried to drink his blood before; in fact, he would starve himself before he would ever even think about it...!

Then Chihiro says he can visit his school if he'd like-"!" And his eyes widen, gasping. "Th... That is okay with you? I can do that...?!"

Well, as long as he visits during the night and hangs on his dorm, that is. And he was around Chihiro's size, so he could easily wear one of his uniforms to further pass as a student! After all, it wouldn't be good if he strolled around wearing the formal clothes that he does... "I-I would love to!! Yes, I'd visit only at night and stay in your dorm room. And I can stay in my human disguise as long as I wish, too...! Hehe, and is that so? Yep, sounds exactly like Master Naoki!" He chuckles, in regards to the "freeloading" part. Though his smile warms at that last part...

"I'm glad... Master Naoki deserves to rediscover his humanity. Even if he is the demon king, I can see..he is still human, deep down... And now, I can get even more of a taste of what that feels like, spending time with you two in your dorm! Oh, I can't wait..." It'd be like hanging with your friends after school: that truly sounded nice....

"Being human has its ups and downs., there's times where human life can be kind of a drag. I guess, despite the situation we're currently in-- Being a Nahobino is worth it. Every day as one has certainly been pretty exciting."

Chihiro decides to save his Kamen rider rambling for another time. Sure, Da'at was quite dangerous... Each location he went for a mission felt like his own hero story. It certainly beat the boring mundane life he had outside of being one... It was his own escape, but... also harsh reality. It was moments like these that Chihiro liked-- Bondng with his team, getting to know them, and learning how they go on about their lives.

"You know, you could pass as a student at my school if you wanted to visit. Just come out during the night and hang around my dorm. I mean, a certain boss of yours freeloads most of the time but even he wants to experience being human again."

While it was considered a risk for demons travelling to the human world, Shuichi wasn't exactly.... demon-like. If anything, the way he acted was more human! Especially with his human-like tastes in... rather expensive foods.

"Y-Yes!! As you guy's sidekick, I promise to do my absolute best more than ever!" Naturally, as his sidekick, he has to play along with a smile! Shuichi really does mean it, though: with the ability to protect himself and fight back with the gems and the demons that are in his compendium, it made him feel even more capable of bracing the brutal world of Da'at. Like the sole support role, with some actual fighting moves!

It was, really. Had Chihiro not saved him that day.. Shuichi was almost positive he could have died. He will always be grateful to him for that... and if studying demons as relentlessly as he does was the best way to thank him, then he will gladly continue to do it. Of course, not that he was solely doing all this out of gratitude; he was willingly throwing himself into all this. Scary things he never imagined he would, what with the war between demons and divine beings running rampant. But no matter what happens, one thing is for certain: he will never abandon Chihiro and Naoki. Those two are just as much of his precious friends, too... and his demon friends. They were willing to allow him, a regular human, to join them in their adventures, after all; and being apart of this team.. feeling useful, being useful.. it makes him happy!

At his order, he gives a determined nod. "Got it! I promise to only use it when I absolutely need to. Thank you!"

After all, he'd hate to accidentally overwork his demon partners if he used them carelessly... but if the time ever does come where he will need them, then he'll make sure to use them efficiently.

"Now, my Kamen Rider arc is coming to fruition! Our sidekick finally gains his powers!" Of course, with Shuichi constantly coming with them on adventures-- he needed to be protected too! Even if he didn't have a transformation he had a way to fight! So it was close enough! God forbid he participates in this war-- but some reassurance that his close friend is safe is all that matters. As they adventure through Da'at, Shuichi has grown accustomed to studying demons and their habits.

Perhaps his studying in demons and wanting to aid in Chihiro's fight.. Was a way of saying thank you for saving his life the first time they met. Now that he was seriously getting involved with the world of Da'at... It would only make sense for Shuichi to have his own way of defending himself.

"Either way, make sure you only use it when you're in immense danger-- Don't use your demon's powers all crazy, okay? They need to conserve power too!"

"Of course! Always happy to help if I can." His smile softens. Helping people, no matter if it had to do with detective work or not, was something Shuichi always liked to do. Then at Wolfgang's answer, he nods in understanding. "I see... then ah, let me properly welcome you to our school! I will admit, there are a lot of.... rather eccentric people here, ahaha, but I like this place. I hope you will enjoy your time here, too. Alright, so for a starting point... hmm, I suppose traversing through the main halls could be a nice start, and work our way up to the top floor? That way I can show you the different rooms and facilities inside the building, and perhaps cold across some talent labs.. Yeah, I think that's the easiest way I can try guiding you."

".. Ah-!" Realizing he didn't give the other his name yet, he quickly nods. "Yes, of course!! My name is Shuichi Saihara, and I'm an Ultimate Detective. It's very nice to meet you. May I ask what your name is?"

when asked where he's specifically trying to go, the man just simply shrugs, his polite smile never leaving his face. he would be happy to just take a tour of the grounds as a whole; he had no particular destination in mind.

❝ please, wherever you think is a good first stop is fine by me. i'm just here to learn what this school is like firsthand. this is my first time seeing the school that started the ultimate talent plan, and i'd like to experience all it has to offer. i'll follow your lead. ❞

of course, there was one more thing for them to settle before this impromptu trip could begin. after all, he was asking so much of this boy, and didn't even know his name!

"You think so...?" Because at this point, Shuichi was certain he wasn't going to be coming up with anything anytime soon, much to his dismay. Recently, Shuichi had found a small family of strays that often wonders around the local park he likes strolling through... with how cold it's been, he worries about their health, but the cats are very skittish and always runs off when Shuichi gets too close. Nothing he's not used to, since he often has to win the trust of an animal he's finding, first, when doing missing pet cases, but these cats were especially difficult!

None of his usual methods were working... but he couldn't just give up! He wants to help those cats, so he can bring them to an adoption shelter where they could find their potential forever homes... He probably would have been mulling over this even longer than he already has, had Wolfgang not suggested getting some fresh air after telling the lawyer about his dilemma. Which he needed, he's been cooped up in his 'office' all day...

"Y-Yeah, you're probably right. Thank you... I always stress myself out by thinking too hard. A walk... should help. Do you, want to join me if you're not busy...? Since you were nice enough to check up on me, heh heh..."

Shuichi has a pretty high tolerance level for people's rudeness... for the most part. Most stuff, he just lets slide off his back. Though while he was at the fish market, he has an encounter with this one particularly rude person. Not only did he rudely tell Shuichi could he 'get out of the way' of certain display of fish he was trying to look at, but even had the nerve to ask Shuichi 'who is he looking at like that' when the detective glared at him. His attitude pissed him off, but Shuichi wasn't the confrontational type. He hates causing a scene or when too much attention is on him. So... as much as he wanted to talk back... Shuichi just utters 'nothing' and decides to just walk away, huffing.

"Stupid jerk..." Oh, that tanked his mood badly. He despises unnecessarily rude people like that, who then cry with someone is "rude back" to them. That is why when he approaches Russell, his face and tone are a lot more sour than he would normally ever greet someone with. "Excuse me." He says, to get the other's attention. "I was interested in buying a few things, please..."

"Ah.... n...n-no, I can go on a bit longer, it's fine!! I'm almost done...!" As if Shuichi hasn't already been working for two hours straight! Much as he would love to-needs to-take a break, the boy wanted to finish today's work, first. Afraid that if he takes a break now, he won't immediately his train of focus back...

So as he continues typing away at his laptop, he tells her: "I appreciate you checking up on me, Kaede. But I'm still doing alright, don't worry! I promise to take a break soon."

"I see..." Shuichi nods in understanding as he looks at the map with the man. Not that he blames him for getting lost: even with how familiar Shuichi has gotten with the different areas of the school by now, he still might need a second to remember where certain places are if he hasn't been there often enough.

"Yes, it is a very big school... very understandable to get lost if you're not too familiar with the interior of the building, yet. Ah, yeah I do! If you'd like, I would be more than happy to help take you to wherever you were trying to go. If you had a specific place or area in the school that you were trying to get to, that is...?"

the man nervously laughs as he looks at the large map of hope's peak that stretches on the wall in front of him. he was just trying to explore this school, to see where the ultimate talent program all started.

well, a school that prestigious being this big would make sense...

Shuichi, the big animal lover he is, naturally couldn't help but look with surprise and awe when seeing a live horse! He was honestly just fine with looking, as he'd feel bad if he accidentally startled the horse if he got too close... but to his surprise, the horse walks up to him and starts sniffing him!

"Oh-!" He gasps softly, before he emits a small giggle. "Hehe... hello to you, too." Hesitantly, he reaches a hand out to softly pat him. When Colt then walks over, he gives a small nod of his head in greeting as he says: "Oh, is that so? You think so...?" He was surprised... he wondered what about him made Flicker comfortable to approach him... but it was a happy surprise, nonetheless. "I'm glad he feels comfortable with me, then... he's such a pretty horse. Ah, I hope it was okay to pat him...! He was just so cute, I couldn't help it, hehe."

Then at the offer to join the cowboy on a ride, his eyes widen. "Ah! I-Is that okay? Th..Then I would be happy to, th-thank you!" Seeing Flicker confirm as well that he does like him, makes his smile widen all the more. "Hehe, I like Flicker, too. Thank you for the invitation...! I-I promise to sit still and be careful!"

Colt was used to stares, even when he was back home on the farm. He might not dress like a spectacle among his home grown kin, but there was no question that he was large enough that he'd be more surprised if he didn't draw someone's eye no matter where he was. Some people tried to be discreet in their stares, but not even the most stoic of faces could hope to hide their interest when the animals came out. Animals always had that effect on people, bringing even the most shy out of their shells, both in terms of the person and the animal at times. Flicker was one of those horses that was a bit more skittish of strangers thanks to an incident when he was still a colt, but it always seemed he was more willinging to let those of calmer disposition near when such people came around.

Saddling his horse always came with onlookers; some would outright ask for rides, and others needed a little nudge from the cowboy to step out of their comfort zone. Or in this case, Flicker was the one to nudge, much to Colt's surprise. He'd turned around for just a moment to grab the last set of straps, and when he turned back Flicker had wandered over to the fenceline to sniff at the onlooking detective.

"Well, I'll be a suck-egg mule. He don't take t' strangers too well, you must be somethin' specical, fella." Said with a warm smile as he stepped over to the pair to finish with the saddle, Colt not even needing to look at his hands to settle everything securely in it's place. "I'm about t' head out on a ride, if ya wanna tag along, since Flicker here seems t' like ya so much." A pat to the brown Appaloosa's neck, sentiment confirmed with a huff and gentle shake of it's head.
