One of the most important things I ever did in life was to stop accepting people's opinions of other people, me, ideas, politics, science...everything. The only way to know a thing is to experience and experiment upon it yourself. Want to know a person? Know them. Your experience with them is not anyone else's. How many potential life-changing people do we meet and discard because of a flippant thing some other person said about them? Know for yourself. It takes time. It limits how much you will learn in your time here. But you will know. You will know for yourself and that knowledge is yours. No one else's. And no one can change it or take it away. It becomes a precious thing that you spent time and effort and part of yourself to learn, and in learning, to love or appreciate.

So there's been news floating around that tumblr is "dying" since it's going to be run by a skeleton crew. I have (very minor) surgery tomorrow to repair the last (I hope) of the physical side-effects of 2022. Which means a significant source of chronic pain will be gone, and also, that's one more thing about it all that I never have to think about again.
