Contest Update!
Alright, so two weeks have passed and pretty much got the exact number I wanted to do this lol. So that’s good I guess. The contestants are as followed:
bonerbunny:
Selvala, heart of the wilds. Riding a small dinosaur (like allosaurus) towards a mountainside being torn through by a giant dinosaur (like gishath, Galta, etali) as it enters the plane (little dinosaurs and what not in the landscape running away) astgrimoire:
Thousand-Year Storm, but it's on the shard of Grixis raptorinyourcloset:
slimefoot the stowaway and his saprolings actually doing they’re job as deck swabs or as an ixalan type pirate
follower-of-liliana:
archangel of tithes as an Orzhov angel? One that’s beautiful and aloof, so full of herself in her stained-glass gothic cathedral
littledistortion:
queen marchesa as an Eldrazi queen
cold-caller-gisa:
Nissa, Steward of Elements where Nissa is actively weaving leylines of different colours, as she learns on Amonkhet, with the lighting/background elements framing her with the outline of Emrakul. Maybe her eyes are not their usual solid emerald green, but washed through with blue, or Emrakul's signature red/purple
neroxmtg:
Nekusaur, the Mindrazer but from the plane of Alara from Gixis, since it's his color identity, but I just think he could look more lich like in Grixis than just a zombie king.
msvorderofoperations:
Alesha, Who Smiles at Death with two spirits at her back in the moments before she calls an attack. One white, one black to represent the power of rebirth and necromancy she commands.
nemat0n:
I think an Ixalan Muldrotha would look amazing!
naban-dean-of-irritation:
Feather, the redeemed in Mirrodin construct style would be awesome!
wordofcommander:
Kokusho the Evening Star with a Therox/Nyx inspired theme. The enchantment creature partially celestial starscape look. (Kokusho that fits the Mono-Black Devotion archetype)
theotherunicron4000:
I would love Jodah, Archmage Eternal in the Nyx style of the Theros gods. Theros is one of my favorite planes and I think he would be incredible as a God-like figure.
truetranssoulalesha:
puresteel paladin on zendikar
anathema-archlich:
Teneb, the Harvester Moss covered, like a “why is there a dragon in the bog?!” mood. I think it’s terribly unfair that a reanimating dragon has just a head for artwork
top-hat-the-cactus:
This is super cool! I would love to see a Fiora style Krenko Mob Boss. I think a more sneaky style Krenko who skulks around alleyways sowing decent and rousing angry mobs by whispering in rowdy goblin ears would be awesome. Also the idea of a Krenko-Grenzo teamup is a goblin players dream.
mavericosuave:
Phyrexian breya :)
tiochesnaughty:
Angel of Despair but from Amonkhet!
mightygrin
Samurai Bear for Bearshido aka Razorclaw Bear! The winner shall be picked at random and be revealed with a the finished alteration for my next post.

My Jeleva Deck
@anathema-archlich was asking about EDH decks that were your soul. that empowered everything you were as a player. What your beloved deck was. I told them I would post my janky Jeleva in her current state. Sadly the deck editor didn’t want to save anything, so I manually put it all here with the prices on mtg goldfish. When I say ‘vocal minority’ (https://anathema-archlich.tumblr.com/post/177675401430/ubermelon-anathema-archlich)...
They were talking about @counter-target-spell , @pepperstrawberry , @kitsunesfire, @gatherallthemagic , @mtg-hermit , @jolly-ob-saint-nixilis , @curiooftheheart to name a few. Names that mean something in the tumblr MtG community.
While I may not agree with everything they say, to be so dismissive...these people count. They should be heard, and not thrown down with the words ‘entitlement in fandom culture’.

The future of #CustomCommanderChallenge
As you might know, or maybe not, #CCC was born as a way to get custom cards made for a 100% proxy EDH cube. This means that the winners of the challenges are added to a list for a cube.
However, so far I have just being creating fun challenges and not considering the cube as a whole. For this reason, I don't know if the cards you guys have been creating have a good place in it or not.
So, what happens with this?
I will use some time to analyze and create a whole list of cards I need for the proxy cube. I'm aiming for 960 cards so far, and I need to study it and make all the cards balanced. For this reason, next week we won't have a challenge, hoping to use my time to research for that instead of checking entried and so.
After I have studied the cards we have so far, and the cards I have made so far, I'll come up with a different way to present you the challenges. This means that the cards are going to be designed more in relationship with cards already created by you, or custom cards I have made, instead of existing cards from Wizards.
For this reason, I have to slow things a little.
Besides, it's not a secret for anybody that I'm super delayed delivering the cards that have already won. I have barely 2 or 3 hours per day to do all my stuff, this include my game design stuff, my writing work, eating... All that stuff, and that has to include time to create the cards, which most of the time consists in searching the right art (I don't lie if I tell you i can spend 3 hours in artstation sesrching for an specific art). But yeah, I still need a little more time with those. Just have a some patience with me with that...
But that will be it. Stuff will be basically the same, but more directed to build a rich balanced cube. Hope that is okay with all of you.

cEDH Shimmer Zur Slim
For all that are interested I am going to quickly showcase my cEDH (competitive EDH) deck, Shimmer Zur Slim.
*DISCLAIMER* this deck is cEDH, it’s not meant for normal or casual games of commander. Don’t be that “guy”.
I am going to credit two people before I get started. Bolsheviktory for coming up with the Shimmer Zur deck idea, and then Reversemermaid for the inspiration from his jeleva slim list, streamlining the deck to work more efficiently with Ad Nauseam.
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/shimmer-zur-slim/
This is my current version of Shimmer Zur, which I call Shimmer Zur Slim.
The main differences between this list and the original list is that we are running Isochron scepter instead of Candelabra, even though we do run high tide, I prefer the reversal scepter combo at the moment. Plus it lets us go infinite on the end step on shimmer lines.
The second major change is that we cut Time Spiral, I just felt like it was too clunky most of the times that I saw it in hand, plus it hurts when you hit a Time Spiral off of an Ad Naus. We are already running timetwister and windfall, so we have wheels covered. Currently we are running Opt in it’s place, cantrips are good, instant speed cantrips are great.
Now this isn’t your Grandad’s Zur the Enchanter deck, we are not using him to
cheat a bunch of enchantments into play to bog down the board. In fact we currently only run three enchantments in the deck. Shimmer Zur Slim is a combo deck, utilizing Laboratory Maniac and Aetherflux Reservoir as our primary win cons.
Now we have multiple ways to get there, the first being Doomsday, which lets us make a pile of 5 cards that gets us Lab Man in play and allows us to draw our deck out. I wont get too much into Doomsday piles here, mostly because I am no expect on them myself.
The second is Ad Nauseam, this deck is made to abuse this card, we only have a avg. cmc of 1.8, so it’s not uncommon to draw 30+ cards off your Ad Nauseam. With 30+ cards in hand it can be pretty hard to lose, the lines are pretty open after a big Ad Naus.
Our third main path to victory is the name sake of the deck, Shimmer Myr. The idea is to cheat a nercopotence into play with Zur, or any other way you want to play it, then exile 30+ cards off of it, once you go to end step and draw those cards you flash in shimmer myr along with all of your free mana rocks to storm off into an aetherflux reservoir, all on the end step, all at instant speed, and all before you have to discard down to seven. With your large hand size it’s pretty easy to protect yourself with cards like Silence, angel’s grace, and counter magic.
Shimmer Zur Slim is a very fun deck to play, it’s consistent in getting to it’s win cons, having a nercopotence basically sit in your command zone thanks to Zur is amazing. Winning late game is not a problem thanks to cards like Angel’s Grace, which let you Ad Naus your entire library at any life total.
A fantastic deck, which I 100% encourage anyone to try.

Yes! @anathema-archlich those are awesome questions!
Soul of New Phyrexia should almost certainly just be a Duplicant but I've had a game or two where I've set up some pretty un-fuckwithable boardstate when SNP is involved. Especially when preceded by a Seedborn in the tutor line.
Now Masticore... He's a little more problematic. That's a good old fashion win con right there. The Tutor line is pretty straightforward.
Quirion Ranger, Priest of Titania, Elvish Archdruid, Masticore, Seedborn and top it off with
Kamahl, Fist of Krosa. Then it's 3 Mana stone rains until everyone picks up the rest of their cards. (1G from Kamahl turns lands into elves, and 2 colorless pings em w Masticore) Total fucking bummertown. A lot of times I'll have a tutor in hand and look for more Mana. Either via Karametra's Acolyte or a Cradle if I'm lucky. Either way, I can usually zorch about 4-5 lands each turn thanks to Seedborn, and then no one wants to play anymore.
Also, @bunderthuns you ever make yours?
Animaniacs Reunion.

@anathema-archlich and Blue is the color of knowledge and self discovery. Also, being a Shaman (kinda) they gave him the three "nature" colors to represent this new "status". If I didn't enjoy the Temur lore and aesthetic (which I totally love) I'd agree with you, Sarkhan getting blue is pretty silly
The time is right
I’m bringing back a theory of mine:
When Sarkhan speaks to Ugin about his own presence on Tarkir (Sarkhan’s, not Ugin’s) and that no one in any Clan knows him, Ugin says something like:
“This leaves space to only one possible explanation”
Everyone, including Sarkhan himself, seems to suppose his an anomaly.
A time anomaly.
But wait. My thought at the time was:
“well, he’s not born, he spawned from a dragonstorm”
What do you all think, it works for me if you consider the strong connection between Dragon Boi and actual dragons, and. Sarkhan being referred to “dragon man planeswalker”

@askkrenko (also going to tag @anathema-archlich cause I see him in this as well) just moving to as to not spam long posts.
-As to why I would not want wotc in charge of any of the edh format banlists, the answer for me is simple. Wotc first and foremost is a company, @anathema-archlich also touched on some of these points, that regardless of the good intentions their main goal will always be product sales. There have been lots of theories to as what their motives for certain banes in the past, the whole “eldrazi winter” thing in modern I think stands as testament to this, also the fact that they waited tell after AR came out to ban copter, wotc didn’t want to make banes that could affect sales of their newest sets at the time. That is just a theory cause we will never know for sure. But my main point is that what motivates wotc and what motivates an outside group are different things, I would never want me format changed because of a big company’s hidden agenda.
-As to what resources the rules committee could gain to help do their job better, well simply put if they got the same data and research that wotc uses to makes their changes, but without the influence of a parent company like Hasbro.
-If the question is confusing players by having the rules for each format listed in different places, just have the banlists and rules for EDH(which I thought they already did) and for dual commander posted on the mother site.
-I will have to disagree with the comparison to bannings in standard and ones in EDH. Banning cards in standard are VERY rare almost unheard of, it’s been years since we have seen a standard ban. They are also made for different reasons, standard bans are there so that not every deck at a GP, PT, or FNM is the same, cause those are boring to watch and those big events are how wotc sells product. Bans in EDH are because typically those single cards warp games when they come out, in an almost single handed fashion. Cyclonic rift is very possibly one of the strongest cards in the format, but it doesn’t out right set up a win unless you have a stacked board state, and using it in a defensive manner is completely fair. If every time a cyclonic rift was cast it ended games, I’m sure it would be banned, but that’s just not the case. That’s at least my opinion on the differences between the banlists.
-Also that ties in with when I said “competitive player wouldn’t want anything banned” that is solely in regards to EDH. In other formats they do not have the sheer amount of resources to deal with threats like we do in EDH. In standard they only have the resources from that current standard given to them by WOTC. That is not true for us EDH players. In my opinion our current ban list represents pretty much the most busted of busted, I can not think of a single card not on the current ban list that needs to be banned. We have the tools available to use to deal with just about any threat not already on our banlist. As far as competitive play goes, no one is my cEDH group thinks anything needs to be banned, the whole point of cEDH is to win as fast as possible. 90% of the times the games are over well before turn 5 or so and a card like cyclonic rift just hits one target.
-I think having Dual Commander and Commander (with the sub group of cEDH as a reference list) is a very strong balance. One that was created outside of wotc and one that should remain that way.
-I will agree the current rules committee needs to be more open with the player base and more active in it, but the answer isn't to give control over to a big company.
-if we are still having an error in communication, give me a few examples as to what you think should happen so I can get an idea of what you are getting at.

Sydri’s Workshop EDH: First Draft
As the title implies this is my first draft for my Sydri EDH Deck. I’m going for a stax/control/pillow fort thing here....to be honest I’m not sure exactly what I’m trying to build here yet. I’m trying to stay away from being 100% degenerate, so no Mycosynth Lattice. I’m already running one of my new favorite cards Aetherflux Reservoir which is pretty dirty when combined with Sydri, so it’s not like it’s a casual deck. I’m sure the list will change many times over through out the brewing process, feel free to leave ideas down below.
The list:
