can we talk about percy uncovering luke’s true intentions and luke coming clean about wanting to recruit percy as a powerful ally and percy obviously refusing despite sympathizing with the cause because he’s just better than that leading to them dueling, with luke about to strike percy down when annabeth’s blade, the one luke gifted her, the same cursed blade that’ll reap his soul 3 years from now, sealed with the promise of family and new beginnings, knocking into backbiter in luke’s hands, and luke turning to stare at her with the most heartbroken, torn expression on his face and annabeth staring him down with more venom than any pit scorpion could’ve had.

can we talk about annabeth standing in the clearing watching the only man she loves, someone who made a promise to protect her and always have her back, someone she’s known for 5 years, looming over a boy she met mere weeks ago, someone who, despite a godly rivalry getting in the way of their initial friendship, fought for her and saved her and chose her over himself time and time again…can we talk about how the defiance in her gaze made it very clear to luke that the person he’s closest to would choose percy over him every time

arthur and john's relationship is built on codependence and working together because there's no other choice, but it's also a lot about arthur projecting onto john. arthur considers himself a failure as a person, but now he has a chance to prove that someone evil can actively choose to be better. he believes that if john can be saved, so can he. if john can be redeemed, so can he. that's why he tries, at every possible turn, to push john to be better. that's also why, whenever john takes a few steps back in progress, it has such an intense effect on arthur. because he wants to save john.

because if he can save john, he'll finally have proven to himself that he can be saved too.

The end of all things has been coming for years. It has not come yet. To Despair is to invite it to come now. For you personally. For the people around you that you could have lifted up.

The end has not come yet. The end is not coming for a long time yet. The end has come and gone so many times over. You have lived through so many ends of the world. And you keep finding a way to make a home in the new one. For you and those you love. Those you will yet love. Those you still love and must find new ways to love.

Do not let fear divide you. Do not let it make you fear and then hate those who would be your friends. Do not let it divide you or box you in. Do not let fear make your world, your heart, smaller.

Do not let despair in. Do not let it bring you to the final end. Do not let it cause you to live in death.

Be sad, be angry, be disappointed.

I understand why it wasn't possible, but it's such a shame we couldn't get Jenny back for The Wish. She and Giles fighting a losing battle side by side and being hardened from it, but remaining each other's solace. Them piecing together the puzzle Cordelia presents to them and having faith in a world better than this, only for Anyanka to try and throw them by hinting at Jenny's death should they return. Giles faltering at the thought of losing her and Jenny, once again, sacrificing herself and destroying the necklace. The way she sees it: she'll either be dead by The Master's hand or by her own, and only one of those inevitabilities gives the man she loves a chance of survival. She kisses him as she plunges herself into the abyss, wanting the last thing she experiences to be his love.

Giles waking up the following morning, the pang in his heart he always feels whenever he remembers Jenny accompanied by a newfound feeling of emptiness, and he's not quite sure why.

More and more often, since the Musk takeover of twitter, I've found myself in the situation of reading a fic in AO3, the author's notes reads "an artist did a wonderful piece of art to accompany this! go check it out!!" and then the link leads... nowhere. to an X error page, or whatever.

it's not the end of the world. but it feels a little melancholy, a little bleak. A reminder of how ephemeral things -- especially internet things, especially fandom things -- really are. they can go away at any moment; not only if the creator decides to scotch them, but just through the shifts in architecture. There was art, and now it's gone.
