The short answer is no. Humble was grudgingly tolerated at best by his relatives and at times treated with outright cruelty. There were other adults in his clan that were kinder to him, but Hellsguard are superstitious and it was all too easy for many to believe that he was indeed a jinx, especially given the strange trances to which he was prone.

Although not technically a figure he could rely upon, Humble did experience the voice of Hydaelyn as a child, which provided him with a measure of comfort and guidance (which is something I want to explore in response to a previous ask at some point).

Generally Humble managed his childhood mistreatment with the stoic resilience that would come to typify him as a grown man, but it wouldn't be true to say that he was entirely unaffected by it.

💗 for a moodboard about another significant relationship in my muse’s life

This is a fairly new ship. Umari and Hex were business associates for six years. Hex never shied away from her in his home and had her move in after a string of events turned up, resulting in an attempted assassination by his personal cook and their apprentice.

After she moved in, things slowly began to progress with their relationship. Hex would occasionally pull her into a kiss, and they'd share drinks, but he never turned her away. Umari became his personal cook since his closest assistant had fallen injured and is recovering. He trusts her, and he's slowly opening up about his past.

His feelings felt raw because of what happened to the Left Hand (his closest assistant) and the anniversary of his death date. Umari didn't run away and didn't press him about his past, allowing him to tell her at his own pace.

Again, this is still very new. They're still testing the waters and just being flirty with one another.

💛 What is your personal opinion of this OC? Do you love them or are they your trash child? Are they your baby?

Lol yes, she is very much my trash child and equally my baby. She's one of my favorite characters to write and just as difficult since I have to put myself in Vahalia's mindset in some situations to sit and think on how she would react, act or reply given circumstances she's faced with. It's a challenge for sure but I thoroughly enjoy playing a character who has darker, more villain-esque qualities.

Safrona absolutely is delighted by little postcards, letters or love notes from people that sincerely appreciate her, and ask nothing of her and do not allude to some sort of business. She keeps particularly feel-good correspondence in her own office drawer in Stormwind, and she might go back to review a few in slow moments when she is feeling low, and some specific notes are kept on her person for those days when she is a little done with the world.

Sori’s mom isn’t a light topic in the Duskhaven household. For Sori herself, Nelah is the embodiment of all things good and pure, an unshakable will that always sought to see better in others. A larger then life pair of shoes she is constantly questioning if she’s living up to, wanting nothing more than to be the type of person her mom would be proud of.

It’s kind of sad when I put it like that because frankly? I think Soriya would have exceeded any expectations her mother had by miles. Nor is it a lip service whenever her father states how much Soriya reminds him of Nelah. Soriya has her mom’s DNA ingrained into her, which is almost like a testament to what her father says since neither Kiro nor Nelah had raised her.

That’s kind of how it all shook out though. Unfortunately for everyone involved Nelah was murdered shortly after Soriya was born, meaning that Soriya never actually had the chance to meet her and learn from her. To be honest, Sori does absolutely romanticize her mother, and to be even more honest I think Nelah has been put on a pedestal, both by Kirollis and Soriya— though interestingly, Soriya has only ever heard about her mom via Kiro, so his rose tinted glasses regarding his soulmate are pretty clearly in effect (regardless if he’s fairly spot on). That in and of itself has put a lot of pressure on Soriya to live up to this shadow, and that mixes a lot with her desire to know more about where she comes from and connect with her family. It’s a bit of a catch-22 how their differing feelings about a person immensely important to both of them plays out, and I’d say it’s almost negative, but it probably reads a little more neutral then anything.

To answer the nitty gritty question though. Soriya has nothing but love for her mother, and believes she was a very good person at heart. Almost to the point where the pure hearted Sori feels like she won’t achieve that same level of saintly (even though she more or less has). She does a lot for the memory of her mom and keeping it alive. Most recently she started using her mother’s maiden name as an alias while she trains to be a rogue in Stormwind, her reason for choosing such essentially being that it was a small way of honoring her memory.

But to simplify this word salad; there is a meteor sized indent on her soul that her mother left. It affects her in ways big and small. Though in true Sori and Nelah fashion- instead of a crater, it became a lake.

👄 : A kiss headcanon (and a confessing headcanon, since mobile won’t let me copy and paste more than one)

Kiss- Cordelia isn’t one for a lot of public displays of affection and she isn’t the most affectionate in general, but there’s nothing really in between either a kiss on the cheek in greeting or a deepened kiss behind closed doors.

Confessing- It takes a lot for Cordelia to confess things, be it admitting wrongdoing or admitting a lie she’s been caught in. She’s essentially very good at gaslighting and if she does confess something to you, you’re likely held in a higher regard to her and have earned enough of her trust.

🤷 - did they ever ruin something they couldn’t have out of spite?

I would not say that Marlowe ruins something she cannot have out of spite, but she does ruin things in general out of spite. Being the emotional thing that she is, she can be a bit destructive when her mood gets the best of her. This could be anything from tearing things down from a shelf or counter, throwing something against a wall, lashing out against someone physically etc. Really any sort of destruction of property, especially if it belongs to the person she is directing her foul behaviour towards.

With Companions in particular she can also become possessive regardless of the established relationship. This can lead her to be toxically domineering, claiming her Companion as 'hers' and finding great distaste in anyone who shows them too much attention, affection, or aggression. This can sometimes ruin her relationship with them, but by that point usually she has them in a bond/agreement so it is hard for them to wiggle out until it is fulfilled.

She uses this to her advantage, of course.

Ok so… I have really had to think about this one. Phoebe is not one for large gestures or putting on a show for recognition. She tends to exist in a gray area, not wanting to draw too much attention to herself. She does not go out of her way often for others, at least not for free.

She believes in the little things make the difference. In her early years living in Eorzea, she was a Robin Hood type figure living in Ul’Dah. She often would give a portion of what she could steal to the homeless Ala Mhigans or to the children’s hospital. She has a soft spot for the downtrodden and refugees, since she was once there herself.

25. senseless

"This is senseless!" I protest as the dark-haired Miqo'te I foolishly employ from time to time grabs my hand and pulls me down a Limsan street. Overhead, the sky is as close to pitch black as it can get without completely committing to the endeavor. Big, thick clouds blanket the canvas blotting out any sign of stars above. There's a faint ring of silver gray where the moon tries to peek through, not yet defeated but still clearly struggling against the clouds.

Lia, or Malika as I've heard some call her, doesn't seem bothered. She and I have worked together long enough that I have to accept that the more senseless something is, the more likely she is to do it.

"Senseless?" She asks with a laugh. "Birdy,"

My name is Sibert. She refuses to call me that- specifically because it annoys me that she won't. I wonder not for the first and certainly not for the last time why I put up with her annoying and disrespectful behavior at all.

She continues after giving me a chance to grimace at this new nickname. "What's senseless is that you hadn't asked that girl out for so long because you were afraid of looking stupid and when you finally did ask her out- you asked her to go dancing with you. When you've never danced before!"

I've no argument here. She's right, of course. The girl in question is a long time customer of my business. Well, my legitimate business, the home goods store. Not the crime one that she hopefully does not know about and hopefully does not ever know about.

"I wasn't thinking," I admit. "It just came out." I mock myself. "Do you want to go dancing this weekend? Perhaps after that we can go rock climbing? Or maybe walk a tightrope together over a volcano? Or any other stupid activities I don't know how to do and that terrify me?"

"Wow, Sibs! Great imagination! I'd take you up on those for what it's worth."

"But you're crazy."

"Fair point." Malika stops so I stop. I only now register where we've ended up. Lower deck near the water.

"No," I hear myself protest. Gods, my voice is so whiny. Who would honestly want to dance with me? It's a miracle she said yes. Or a curse. I can't dance so I'm leaning towards curse. "This is too dangerous. I can't swim. Let's go somewhere else."

Malika raises her eyebrows and grins. It's never good when she does that. "And you call me crazy! You live near a beautiful ocean and you've never wanted to swim in it? Doesn't swim, doesn't dance, doesn't rock climb, doesn't tightrope over active volcanoes…" She chuckles. "What does he do?"

"Fret mostly," I admit. "Make wooden chairs. Do math. Fret some more."

Her grin grows wider. "After this dance lesson- which is taking place right here- broaden your ambitions, Bert. Make small wooden boats. Then get in them. Stop ignoring the ocean just because she scares you. Ask her to dance next."

"That's highly unlikely," I answer. I let Malika maneuver my hands to prepare for this dance near water's edge. She's often a horrible thorn in my side- complicating just as many jobs as she completes- and I frequently think about cutting her from my business entirely. But out here in the dark she laughs, not unkindly, at my clumsy footing as she carefully counts the dance steps for me. She even does her best to protect me from falling into the water when I stumble and doesn’t make a big deal out of the effort or mock me when I’m visibly shaken.

It's a rare and surprisingly gentle side of her I see out here illuminated in the faint glow of Limsa's lamps and the sliver of the silver moon as together they fight against the darkness she has us dancing in. And I find myself thinking, just for a moment, that all the worrying, fretting, and angsting I do- and all the time I’d spent not learning to dance… well…

Maybe that's what's been senseless.

Why do they loathe this person so?

Fio’s favorite person has always been, and likely will always be, Pyraelia. That’s her little sister! She’s absolutely amazing. They spent so much time together growing up and were impossibly close as a result. Things have been a little odd for them the last five years, but they’re getting better. 

She absolutely hates all the Windrunner sisters. They were always a little uppity and have all gotten themselves into some weird situations. They no longer are representative of their people, she feels, and are absolutely worth having disdain for.

🍷 a character i want to write but never made a blog for

Duncan Waycrest or Duncrest for sure.

He's a vampire I came up with randomly to use as a Regis like character for Eld in my Order of Embers stuff and later when I transitioned into writing Witcher stuff for a bit. He's got a lot to him story wise and I feel makes a great ally to my hunters as he has so much knowledge and power but is so damn melancholy.

I'm still thinking of using him again as a lot of people recently found him and have liked what I was doing with him. I liked what I was doing with him and maybe should, but my brain is all over the place with characters. We'll see with the upcoming DWC if I'll jump back into him.

🍑 Where is your OC’s favourite place to relax or calm down? Recount a story of their time spent in this place! What makes it so special to them?

“Oh, definitely my garden behind my little house. I got to pick all the plants that I wanted -- the Estate gardens were all Fiorenze’s design that I inherited. The specialness of it really comes from it being mine. It’s mostly vegetables that my cook uses to make my food, but there’s some flowers too!

Of late it’s been nice to sit out there with a heddle loom and a cold glass of wine, watching the animals drift by the pasture fence at the back. Or, in the mornings, loitering out there with a good book and a pot of tea to keep me company before I figure out what I’m doing for the day.”
