#Ame-no-Koyane

I found some information that I want to share about Amenokoyane and the clans that he is the ancestor of; so, I am going to translate two of the paragraphs.

Who is Amenokoyane?

This is the god who performed a special prayer in front of Ama-no-Iwato Cave, and is the god of prayers. He also accompanied Ninigi's descent from Heaven. His descendants became the Nakatomi clan, and Nakatomi no Kamatari (later Fujiwara no Kamatari), the Fujiwara clan reached its peak of prosperity. The Onakatomi Clan, head priests of Ise Grand Shrine's inner shrine, are also descendants of Amenokoyane. The Nakatomi clan is a family whose job is to mediate between the and people. It is also believed that they became the Nakatomi because they act as an intermediary between the gods.

Kotodama Faith

The scene where Amenokoyane offers prayers in front of Ama no Iwato is said to be the root of Kotodama belief. Kotodama is a divine spirit that resides in the mysterious power and function of words. You say, ``Words helped me.'' Words that act on our hearts in various ways have an impact on our hearts, for better or for worse. Kotodama belief is based on the idea that ``words have a soul and have great power,'' and it is said that words such as prayers are said to be the strongest kotodama. In that sense, chanting prayers can be thought of as an event that uses the power of words to bring good fortune and ward off misfortune. It may sound exaggerated, but it may be possible to move the world through the power of words. Amenokoyane, who has the power of words, may be the strongest god.

The Urabe Clan were descendants of Amenokoyane two, but the page doesn't mention them.

they were all fakers huh. not just koyan but all the alter egos of the foreign god even the foreign god itself with its quest for dominance they were all fakers who tried to surpass the original and who all had no true place among humans. koyan and limbo are obvious examples but it also applies to muramasa and rasputin (noted freaks and outcasts of their era and inhabiting individuals that reflect this accordingly) and holmes himself as a hidden traitor and reflection to moriarty.

koyanskaya wanted to emulate the monster that tamamo no mae once was, something that could freely torment and destroy humans, but tamamo was a being who had always strived for understanding yet was never shown compassion. shes so committed to the good wife role because its something that will have her accepted by other humans, and more specifically something that will help her understand human love. tamamo had always wanted love and acceptance by humanity, but koyanskaya already holds human love within her whether she likes it or not, not only because of her status as a beast but also because she's representative of the animals that have walked alongside humanity from the beginning. its why tamamo is her mirror, why koyanskaya was even classified as an alter ego of tamamo in the first place, and it's also why there's even a koyanskaya of the Light and a koyanskaya Go In The Dark: they not only represent the death and life zones of her reality marble, they're another emulation of tamamo having split herself apart into the tamamo nine (the bnuuy two?). koyanskaya isnt the tamamo no mae or a part of the nine, nor is she daji as well, but she is a being similar to them because she exists with the same natural dichotimatic feelings towards humans. they hold a love for humanity that is fundamentally at odds with their own nature as natural enemies of humanity.

I feel like this is in part why ibuki douji was the only servant that could be brought in from the outside: She's also a living calamity towards humans, a literal force of nature with a will of its own. she had amnesia entering tunguska because it was a world antithetical to humans, reflective of koyanskayas mindset but also her ideal vision of a world, full of beings removed from humans and defense mechanisms celebrating the murder humans are capable of. if you took her history with humanity away, the ibuki douji that's left is quite literally just a happy go lucky free spirit of nature in a world made for herself, no longer a venerated god or feared calamity.

deep down, it's what koyanskaya wanted for herself.

taigong knew that the fair faced golden fox was a being that couldn't help its nature, it was specifically born as a monster that was meant to torment and destroy humans, but he still fell in love with her not in spite of her nature but because of it. he knew that she was a monster that would only terrorize humans but as he sees her struggling to survive he can't help but empathize with that as a fellow human, and more than anything taigong follows through on dajis curse of immortality because that's what it meant to love her, to achieve her final dream. to carry the memory of someone you love

taigong and nikitich were the only servants able to be summoned into tunguska because they were the only ones who would have compassion for koyanskaya, and compassion, understanding is what's needed to defeat beasts of humanity. it's never about defeating the big enemy, its about reaching an understanding.

anyways they just needed like 1 extra tidbit to foreshadow this beforehand so that tunguska wouldnt have been so poorly received 2ish years ago (and i mean. we do have that moment in SIN with QSH thats even called out in koyanskayas profile) + proper scheduling to not have this critical story piece be a time limited raid event (lol epic of remnant gudaguda moment) but hey they're funny

Heh, and he gets summoned to take care of a kid. And not just any kid... It's Koyanskaya.

And the (what feels like a last second) reason why she looks like Tamamo: Amaterasu came by (Why? Who tf knows) and granted her a life.

Anyway, this is now done. It's... not as awful as many make it out to be, but this chapter definitely has problems. It feels just so rushed. I know that story chapters and event stories usually have months to "wait in the oven", so to speak, but Tunguska felt like it only had weeks to prepare.

I'm not sure if it's because:

1) Sakurai also wrote the Christmas event and also this one, therefore writing two things back-to-back

2) Covid still causing some amount of trouble (remember, this originally came out two years ago on JP)

3) Sakurai was beginning to write Fate: Lost Einherjar and possibly being roped to be one of the writers for Samurai Remnant, and also possibly beginning to write the story for Summer 7

4) Some sort of combination to the above or some other reason

Like. I'm way more curious to what went on behind the scenes for Tunguska than I am for any of the other story chapters. Give me the goddamn tea.

Any positives? Beyond that it does end (albeit not in a satisfying way), Taigong Wang's nice, and the soundtrack introduced here is good too. And that's kinda it. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

And besides how rushed it feels, where do I begin with the negatives? The way Ibuki is given semi-amnesia, but the only characterization is "the party girl who is also the brute"? The two mounts who add nothing to the story? Why are there two halves of Koyanskaya now running around in Chaldea? Several characters repeating themselves ad nauseum- scratch that, that's sadly a Sakurai writing tick.

And oh man, Dobrynya and how Koyan came to be. I absolutely despise FGO's take on Dobrynya. Not only because it's yet another case of "it's this person, but it's actually that person!" (this case being the wife Natasha), but her design holds nothing to either of them - and what I mean by that is that her design is almost literally a recolor of her illustrator's FF14 OC. I am not kidding with that. And while that isn't particularly new, Raita did that before with Raikou. But here's the thing, Raikou - even with her "I can't take this character seriously because of her assets" design, she still fits in with where she came from in a more fantasy way. Dobrynya doesn't. And don't get me started with her coloration (oh yes, I want to be snow-blinded by a character's art /s).

And Koyanskaya's backstory... On one hand, being the embodiment of many animal souls because of a natural event (the Tunguska explosion) is a really interesting concept for a Servant, and I kinda want to see other kinds of concepts in the future. On the other hand, how it connects to her love/hate relationship with humanity is a load of crap. "Oh, the animals mistook the sound of the explosion for gunfire-" let me tell you how bullshit that sounds. Animals can be damn intelligent. They know what humans are. Several of them know in what way we do. They also can tell before any of us know when something is wrong, whether it be reacting to something that we don't see or when something like a volcano is going to go off. I don't know if the whole "animals mistook the explosion for gunfire" is something Sakurai herself wrote, or is something that Nasu wrote who just passed it onto her, but it really is just a bullshit reasoning for why Koyanskaya hates humanity. You could've made her the embodiment of something that humanity actually was responsible for, like Chernobyl for example. Just. Why.

I plan to get through Traum later this year, and then after that I'll be waiting for... LB7... Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay...

It might be the brainrot speaking, but I really, REALLY want to believe that Koyan has it in her to really, genuinely care about others, but she just... self-sabotages because every time someone has made any kind of positive impact in her life, they disappear just as quickly as they came into it. Like with the actual Servant Dobrynya Nikitich and not just his wife using his name because reasons giving her a name so that she wouldn't simply vanish from the world as a nameless Spirit when she was born, to losing her first true friend, Murian... Koyan has it hard, sometimes.

i agree!!! i feel koyan is entirely capable of feeling genuine love and compassion towards others, something she's demonstrated on multiple occassions, but her own twisted nature often gets in the way. in the Not-Butchered version of her character arc, a major facet of her story would have been her conflicting feelings of hatred and sympathy towards humanity. we get a bit of it in LB3, where she hates the sight of humans being treated like cattle, despite her hatred.

of course, all of this was swept away as if it never happened, because i am Lasengle's least favorite child.

Because I can't sleep, I want to give my opinion on LB7 so far (I've gotten like a 1/3 of the way through):

- It's not as good as LB6, though honestly I didn't expect it to be lol. I haven't played Traum or Tunguska yet (too much effort) so I can't comment on any references to them made.

- I kinda feel like the whole dinosaur society lacking, it just doesn't feel as lively as LB6's fairy society or Antlatis' (iirc) whole cyborg thing. But I am on the early stages so probably expect my opinion to change.

- FUCK IZCALLI. FUCK TEZ. Haha I was on fucking smoke when I saw this, I was so ready to 2T Izacalli when we got to fight him but OFC the battle ended after the first bar was broken. My POOR MARINE AND TEPEU DAD AND SON DUO. BROKEN!!! U OLGA AND MARINE. MARINEEE!!!!

- Kukulkan is alright but I noticed her NP when we began so I spoilt myself by using my friend's supports :"( Wonder why she knocked us down though. Wtf did we do to her man :((

- I love Gordolf's and Koyanskaya's little scuffles. I don't even blame him if a hot woman like Koya told me to do something like YES MA'AM . Also Rasputin and Koyan are funny.

Your last post about how Koyan is dumb mentioned Amaterasu being Nasu's OC lore and it just reminds me how much the Amaterasu-Tamamo syncretism bugs me.

The syncretism chain that I am usually given when I ask about it feels like a LOT of BS hoops to jump through to justify the connection. Like, how many other Servants could you wank to be OP with similar logic?

When I see Tamamo-no-Mae as a servant, I want to see Tamamo-no-Mae and everything cool/interesting about her legend, but this feels like Amaterasu wearing Tamamo-no-Mae cosplay. Why haven't we gotten a version that uses the (Sessho-seki) "Killing Stone" as her NP? Why is Tamamo using a mirror she has NO connection to.

fucking bingo. Tamamo No Mae, regardless of the quality of her character, is 10% Tamamo and 90% Amaterasu Shrine Maiden.

also, as someone who LOVES syncretism and tracing how legends and myths have evolved and intertwined across history (hence my Georgios-Ogun focus in lb7r) the level of hoop jumping also goes beyond syncretism into making shit up

Era Era

This work expresses the theme, ‘to shine,’ and the motif I chose is based on the legend of ‘Ama-no-Iwato’ from japanese mythology. The title, Era Era is classical Japanese meaning ‘to laugh and enjoy.’

Amaterasu Omikami, the sun goddess, hid in a cave to escape her brother Susanoo-no-mikoto’s violent behavior. This resulted in the world becoming shrouded in darkness so the other gods decided to hold a feast in the hope of luring Amaterasu out. With the help of Futodama, Ame-no-Koyane and various other gods, Ama-no-uzume, who was the goddess of revelry and the arts, began to perform a dance. Intrigued by the sounds of merriment, Amaterasu poked her head out from the cave where she saw her own radiance reflected in a mirror that had been placed there and stepped outside.

I think that her story of solving problems while enjoying yourself with song and dance expresses the wonderful role played by art. In addiction to the shining brightness of Amaterasu’s light, this work also expresses the shining beauty of art.

I am so happy I got Koyanskaya of the Light, as was according the keikaku, and now I am planning for Koyanskaya of the Dark and her kit is going to be much more tricky for me to fully utilize

As a general support, K-Light is excellent because of her np charge and skill cooldown skill, and c-star dump skill. As a buster-support K-Light absolutely destroys because of her buster up skill, buster looping capabilities, and buster chain compatibility

K-Dark is more confusing but here is how I understand her

Skill 1 is straight forward, 30% buster+ and 30% NP gauge while giving hominidae-sevants c-star absorption down. It's actually easier to show which servants are NOT hominidae

Skill 2 throws in a curve ball, it improves NP level and provides another on-hit buster buff (K-Dark's buff supplies c-stars while K-Lights is np). But it provides an additional attack and defense buff for 'animal characteristic' servants- at lvl 10 it's a max 30% buff each

This improves Koyanskaya's lifespan on the battle field and can lend itself to her wave clearing abilities.

Skill 3 turns K-Dark into D-Day, it gives her +crit damage buff, ignore invincibility, and the ability to inflict curse, poison, and fire when she hits. To top it off she even inflicts the damage up for each individual debuff.

Her NP is the most straight forward part of her kit, a buster aoe that removes all offensive buffs from enemies and then inflicts buster resist down

I plan on using her three different ways

crit star supplier and buster support, not because she will be uniquely effective but because i love her and want to take her out on a slaughter date

buff support for extra-class non-hominidae servants. Specifically Douman because this would allow him him to absorb more stars to loop with Skadi and his curse would do more damage with K-Darks third skill. She is monsterous when paired with non-hominidae, animalistic, buster servants- such as Ibuki Douji, Barghest, any Tamamo, KingProtea, Kijyo, Paul Bunyan, and Gorgon.

K-Dark as dps. Her kit is quite selfish when you consider that all her little bonus traits apply to herself as well. Koyan wants to beat things to death, she clearly craves violence. Her third skill provides a 50% crit damage buff, paired with the 30% attack and buster buffs she may be a good finisher who doesn't need external support. Her stacking debuffs would also pair well with Van Gogh, whos NP would buff K-Dark.

K-Dark isn't a straight forward support but I think that makes a lot of sense given how sexy and evil she is <3

My comments on Jikokuten About Seimei

I going to assume that Jikokuten was trapped in the Six Realms since prehistoric times because of his remark about Seimei not being a kin to Susanoo or the other deities. Even if Susanoo and Amaterasu are not siblings in the Onmyoji Mobile Game, Orochi just said in the Millenial Guardian Event that Amaterasu was Seimei's ancestor and depending on what version of the myths you go by Seimei is a descendent of one of Susanoo's offspring although the Onmyoji Mobile Game might not follow either one of them. Also, the clans that appeared in the mobile game were said to be descendents of deities in the myths. The Minamoto Clan were descendents of Amaterasu just like the Abe Clan and the Fujiwara and Kamo Clans were descendents of Ame-no-Koyane and Kamotaketsunumi no Mikoto respectively; however, that information is so vague in the game. My point is descendants are kins even if they are mortals.

Also, in some versions of the myths Ame-no-oshihomimi is both Amaterasu's and Susanoo's son

i have jeanne, jack, batty, nightingale, ana, achilles, and drake. i got jack with the last ticket specifically bc i was stuck on the koyanskaya beast fight

i don't have a ton of aoe sabers so altera was a knee jerk first want, but i would also benefit from el melloi as a battery... but then there's arjuna and karna... i already have so many powerful aoe lancers and archers *sobs*

usually i am a waifu over meta proponent (or a valentines scene over meta for FGO), i guess in this example karna and arjuna are both waifus & altera and waver are the meta here
