RWBY: Song Analyis
Team JOYRide vs. The Sky is Falling
After rewatching Volumes 1-9, I decided I'm going to be talking about the amazedness that is Rwby Music.
Now to be honest I read many people talk about this song as if it is a Oscar or Ozpin song in some regards, but I think that it suits this one-time only team for the fact that the lyrics serve their purpose.
Of course, that is just pure speculation.
Now most people know what scene is tied to the song "The Sky is Falling", and that is the Oscar gets kidnapped scene.
Where Ren, Jaune, and Yang risk life and limb to get back their fourth teammate, because they don't want to allow him to fall to Salem's hands or get anymore hurt than he did last volume.
Now of course The Sky is Falling is only played for a short time in the scene and than the full album gives us the rest of the song.
And after listening to it to many times to count to get a good gist of it.
Its clear to see why it fits JOYRide, in the fact that they had to handle one of the biggest confrantions of the volume.
Even in the end, this was one of the hardest things to face in the series.
A talking grim that would later on be good by Ruby and the gang, but not before taking its toll on everyone.
But onward to speaking on how the song speaks about this team.
"Here comes another nightmare, another fever dream."
"The horror just won't stop, an endless scream."
The song starts off very bleak, cutting straight to the point, considering that they were facing a challenge that they couldn't just leave alone. A fight that they couldn't quite understand, making it feel like a nightmare, considering that they were losing someone close to them again.
"This is not subconscious, we're not imagining."
"We're wide awake this is reality."
The fact that they started off on a rough note, in facing the talking grim, they knew the closer they got to saving him, the more terrible their situation would become.
A reality they truly didn't think that they were about to face.
"Our world, lost without a soul. We're losing all control."
"Not getting closer."
The first part applies to the gang not having Ozpin there to help guide them, the second part refers to the fact that the world they thought they knew was falling apart.
And of course that they were not any near as close as to defeating any kind of high end villain.
"Everyday is just another source of torture."
Honestly, this one was kind on the noise, considering that since the start of Volume 8, everyone who sits on Team JOYRide, sort of already kind of suffer enough.
I mean they spend the most time actively fighting the force of evil, and getting really close to death several times even before they fight Salem.
"Now we pay the cost, the race is lost. This nightmare's our real life."
Oscar is the payment, because at the end of the attempted resue, Yang, Ren, and Jaune are all feeling defeated, and are feeling the effects of failure.
Yang thinks about Blake.
Jaune can't help but feel guilty about Oscar.
Ren still is trying to come to terms many things in his heart and mind.
Really this part marks the things that the trio face in their minds.
"Better cover up your eyes my friend, the sky is falling."
"Can't out run the ruin of our lives."
To be honest the song line is kind of a oxymoron in a way.
On one hand its telling you to cover your eyes, while on the other telling you that you can't out run what the effects of things you've done.
In other words, its talking about the fact that besides them losing Oscar, they have now brought a closer end to the world, in a way.
"Be prepared the final days are calling. Hold on now."
"The Sky is Falling Down."
This one pretains to Oscar in my opinon, because its really him whose days are numbered, and he wants to hold on to the future that he thinks could have.
But in the end, he still falls.
"A curse that's never ending. A plan with no escape."
"No sudden death, we're trapped in slow decay."
This is line goes to Ozma and all his people. They are cursed, can't escape through death, the slow decay being the merge.
"These words are not symbolic. The torment's all too real."
"Eternal enemy, our fate is sealed."
Back to the full team again, knowing what must be done, and seeing the grim aka Salem's inevitable arrival, they must make haste, knowing that the danger lays right int their paths.
"We slide, further down the hold."
"Damage takes its toll."
Like I said before, each single person in the team is suffering from many different things, and they know that it harms them.
But they can't help thinking this way.
Considering how life treats them in some matters.
"Helpless and Broken, failed to stem the tide of pain."
"The floodgate's open, now its one more sin as evil wins, and misery steals our lives."
The moment that Oscar is in the whale, is life is a joyride of pain and suffering, something that he can't help but take the beating.
While Ren and the rest wish to save Oscar, but Winter tries to fucking blow everyone up.
Goddamn it Ironwood, anyway the fact is that evil was winning and everyone was suffering in the process.
Didn't matter who it was.
"Lost all my hopes and dreams. Watch my life flash by in scenes."
This part is really Ozpin, he had lost everything, and through Jinn he saw all his/Ozma's failure all over again, the fact that there seemed to be nothing that they could do about the future.
"And it seems there's no soul on the video screen."
"But I'm green trying to figure out what all of this means."
And we're back to Oscar, who is sickened and scared of his future, the fact that his life was slowing going away from himself to someone clearly new. It seems like a good refernece to fear, which is I consider to be Oscar's song.
"Staring at the casket, hoping to move past it."
"Knowing things will never be the same, and that's it."
This one I can see is in reference to maybe Jaune and Ren, considering that death is a huge part of their lives, and that moving past other people's deaths seems to be something common in the series.
"Cold soaked as I'm standing in rain."
"Feeling nothing, but pain until I see you again."
This goes for the whole gang, since they all are missing someone important to them before the team JOYRide mission even begins.
For Jaune it was worrying about Nora's condition.
For Oscar it was everyone, Ironwood, Ozpin, Ruby, the list kind of goes on.
For Ren it was his anger at Jaune and his hurt about Nora.
Like man someone give these guys a break.
"Feel the waves crash, loud and hard."
"Oh God, lost control, I think I'm going to lose it."
The heavy weight of them facing the whale and grim around them, knowing what the cost was going to be in the end.
Considering that Oscar and Ozpin alike were slowly losing it.
"All my sanity's slipping away, Oh Lord, press record."
"I'll die without the music."
Back to Oscar and Ozpin, the "music" probably talking about the magic that they hold on.
Oscar was feeling worse, and decided to find the little things that would stop him from going crazy.
Talking about Jinn, trying to get someone to listen to him, him reciting the story of "The Girl who fell through the World".
"Each breath is closer to my death, in which is this life."
"There's none left."
This one is Oscar and crew.
Since every breath they took in that whale was close to their death, though sadly Oscar was closer to death than most.
"Let my demons live on through my legacy."
"Study my pedigree, I need therapy."
To be honest this final part, of the outstanding lyrics in this song is the fact that it ties to both Salem and Ozpin.
Because Salems live on with spreading demons.
Ozpin on the other hand feels guilty about helping create such a legacy due to who he is.
==============================================
The final verdict is that team JOYRide's arc of facing each other, facing Salem.
Teaming up with Emerald, all lead to being the most meat of the volume that would help us prepare for the future of these characters and the offical fall of Atlas.
In the end, thank you for listening to my rambles.
Always open for discussion on anything regarding RWBY.
And of course
Thank You Team JOYRide for allowing this post to be possible!

"We found Love in a Hopeless Plate" 🎶 😋 🤗
Travelling isn't only about having fun, it's also about appreciating the surroundings we live in. Some places tends to help us gather different experience and make memories together with our friends, family and special someone. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you, hopefully you leave something good behind. Traveling for food is something we all do, even if we don't consciously think we are. Food is always will be an integral part of traveling. You can experience the culture, learn more about the local traditions and get to know the people through food. One thing's for sure though: travelling brings a range of emotions like joy, excitement, and amazedness which are probably the best things ever we can do in our life.

i didn’t know where to end up posting this fic, here or the psycho blog, but i decided on here because i promised to tag @justwritingscibbles because she’s a doll, a babe, a great writer, and she honestly gave the motivation to write this along with @synodicsean so here it’ll be.
another Damien fic that’ll get lost in the millions out there. also as i was typing this i liked the theory that we were the host before he became the host more and more.
enjoy the show!
The days at university… you remembered that was when you met him. Walking in with zero clue as to where to go after having found your room, you decided to walk around campus. Enjoying the breeze and energy of the rustle and bustle of people all around you. Normally you preferred staying inside, but the library was important. You had to find it. You had to get that new book, read it’s ending, and throw it at the wall after realizing the author just rushed it and did the arc no justice.
That was the plan. Until of course you found yourself at a crossroads. Left or right? You looked at the signs looking for which one said ‘library’ but couldn’t find it. You were about to go for the right and hope for the best. Perhaps that way at least you’d get a horrifying story to tell your kids, teaching them to not be like you. But three taps to your shoulder made you turn around instead of taking that step forward. Behind you was a man, probably a year or two older than you, with neat hair and kind eyes. His eyes…
“Excuse me, miss,” a deep voice seemed to suavely start directing speech to you. “You dropped this.” He handed you a student ID – one that was supposed to be on your lanyard but when you looked down to the lanyard, the ID had fallen off. You took the card gratefully.
“Thank you,” you said. “That’s the last time I put this on the lanyard.” You stuffed the ID into your pocket before looking up at the man with the kind eyes.
“It’s one of the first rules you learn here,” he said. “Are you a freshman?” he put his hands behind his back, possibly to seem respectful. You nodded your head. The man chuckled. “Well welcome to the university! Were you on your way somewhere?” You nodded with a slight smile.
“Trying to find the library, actually,” You said. “Wanted to see if they had this new book yet.” The man tilted his head.
“Are you an English major?” he asked. Your smile widened some more before nodding again.
“Literature,” you clarified. “Before I go to law school.” The man let out an ‘ah’ of understanding.
“I’m in the business area,” he countered. “But I absolutely love literature. I wanted to double in it, but was only allowed the minor.” You tilted your head in amusement. Whoever this man was, he was incredibly nice. You were glad to have met him. “I can take you to the library if you like? It isn’t too far from here.” You let out a reluctant huff. You didn’t even know this man’s name.
“Oh! I’m sorry, my manners seem to have wandered off.” He held out a hand for you to shake. “My name is Damien.” His eyes were so full of sincerity. They were gentle, kind-looking, looked at your own eyes with great care.
“I'm Y/N,” You answered before shaking his hand again. “That’s a lovely name. Come on! I know a shortcut to the library. I find myself there often enough as well.” Damien led you neither left nor right on the fork you had been at a moment before. Instead he took a sharp turn towards the line of trees and bushes. It scared you, but the other side led you to the back of another building.
“Consider this your first lesson,” Damien smiled excitedly. “Never go in the front. Only a few people know about the back, and it’s the best way in.” He walked you up a few steps before getting to a metal door. Once he twisted the handle and opened the door to reveal a stair case leading up and down.
“Are you kidding me?” You said softly.
“I know,” he said. “looks terrifying. But come on, trust me.” He offered you his hand after stepping passed the doorway. You looked briefly at the hand. Taking it seemed… intimate to you. You didn’t just hold anyone’s hand. You seemed to trust him though. That could either be extremely good or extremely bad. Once you took his hand, he led you up the stairs. At least it wasn’t down, you thought to yourself.
“You’re going to love this,” Damien said excitedly with a brilliant smile on his face. “It’s the best place to have some quiet time or enjoy a cup of tea with a book on a late night. I assume it would also serve well with other situations.”
“It’s the make out spot?” You asked incredulously. Damien laughed.
“It definitely could serve as a make out spot. People rarely go in there. But it isn’t really used for that.” Damien led you to the door and pushed it open, leading you in like the gentleman he was. You looked around with wide eyes. It was a maze of book shelves filled with discontinued books or books on reserve that the library had but no one borrowed much. It was a lot to take in. There was a table in the corner of the room. It smelled a bit dusty considering how rarely the place was used, but it was cozy all the same.
“Do you like it?” Damien asked gently. He enjoyed the expression of something almost like wonder or amazedness on your face.
“It’s so cool,” you started. “That no one comes up here. It’s like… a little home.” You noticed the couch in the other corner along with a bean bag chair.
“Good!” Damien seemed to be please with you liking it. “I have a feeling we’ll get along splendidly then.” You looked over to him and laughed lightly before letting go of his hand and running to plop on the couch, ignoring the dust accumulated over the summer.
And splendidly you did get along. Damien hung around you nearly every chance he could get. If there was a party, he invited you along with him. If both of you had the time, you ate meals together. Albeit, each of you had your own friends as well that were fine with either of you tagging along for some things such as lunch in the dining hall with the terrible food. The girl friends you made seemed to have a thing for him. You didn’t relate and they couldn’t believe it.
At least, not until your birthday rolled along. You had never even told Damien of your birthday – or anyone for that matter. At this point the two of you were nearly inseparable, such close friends, your ‘alone time’ together was doing homework or simply hanging out – both in the upper part of the library.
The day after your birthday you both were lounging on the couch having a cup of tea. He was telling you about his plans when he graduated, how he wanted to start a great business and help people in the community with the money he made. He absolutely seemed to despise the corruption caused by those at the top and wanted to be part of a counter to it. It was at that moment that the way you saw him seemed to change.
Damien was talking so passionately about wanting to help people, about how much he cared about his friend that went off to war instead of going to school, about this Mark character you had met a few times when Damien had taken you to hang outside of the school. The way he seemed to love the people around him, it started something in you. And before you realized what was happening, the light around Damien seemed to morph to glow around him, blinging you to everything else in the area, making you only able to focus on him.
You didn’t exactly realize what that meant. You just took it as admiration for the man who had taken you under his wing on your first day after dropping a damn ID – that you managed to lose a few times after that and he still helped you out.
“Get me a job,” you joked. “When you’re rich from the business you’re gonna have don’t forget to hire me.” Damien chuckled and smiled at you. His eyes…
“Of course I will!” He cried matter of factly. “I’d never forget to hire on the eighteen year old little snip that loses everything but food.”
“Nineteen now, actually,” you corrected. “But in my defense, food is best.” Damien looked at you incredulously.
“Nineteen?” He repeated in a question. “Since when did you have a birthday?” You shifted uncomfortably at the accusatory glare directed at you.
“Uhm…” you stammered. “Yesterday. It’s just a birthday, Damien. Another day of the year.” Damien blinked not understanding. Apparently, he didn’t agree with that belief. A birthday was supposed to be special, and he missed the chance to shower you with attention and a gift. So instead Damien did something he had never done.
He pulled you into an embrace.
It wasn’t that you were opposed to touch. It’s just that you and Damien were much a more… company based friendship than a physical one. But this… this was a lot to take in. Especially when you just started… falling for him.
“I’m sorry I missed it,” he said gently. Your heart hammered in your chest.
“I-it’s okay,” you managed to reply an assurance. Damien pulled away. The light around him was so blinding now that he was the only visible part. It was most definitely a bad sign.
“I’ll make it up to you,” he said. “We’ll go to town today and you can go on a little shopping spree. Anything you like, it’s on me.” You swallowed as inconspicuously as you could.
“Say I asked for food?” You asked.
“Then we get dinner,” he promised. “But I still get you a proper gift.” He placed a hand on your shoulder. You could tell he really cared about you then, as much as he did his friends William and Mark. And you could tell you had already fallen in love with your best friend.
As time passed, your friendship with Damien never faltered. Though, neither did your feelings. Damien did well for himself. With what was left from his inheritance he started a business before graduating and it did so well that by the time you graduated law school your best friend was filthy rich and such an important figure in the city that he was basically the voice of reason.
After you graduated and had made a name for yourself after putting a corrupt politician in prison as a prosecutor, Damien was running for Mayor, won, and appointed you the new district attorney.
That was when you got the invitation from Damien’s friend Mark. Mark had become a friend of yours as well, though not nearly as close as you could have been. Upon arriving at the manor, you realized you knew no one but Damien and sort of Mark. That was fine with you, though. You finally got to meet William, who was such a fun man – if not a little unstable.
And then Mark just… died. He died and you saw Damien, for the first time, truly saddened. So sad it seemed he didn’t know what to do with himself. His best friend – although it hurt when he said that – had just been murdered. And it seemed that although the detective was a bit of a… necrophiliac and a creep, you were determined to do your job as both the DA and the person who wished Damien would love in return and find who did this.
Until Celene came in, and you saw Damien talk to her in a way he did you once upon a time. It hurt, so much, to see him care more for her safety than your own. Perhaps he thought you could take care of yourself. Perhaps he loved Celene. You didn’t know, and despite the pure pain it brought you to see him lock himself in a room with this woman who got you to see visions of things that had happened and would happen, you loved Damien still, and would do anything for him.
Even let him in.
You didn’t do this on a whim, you really had no choice. You were dead by William’s hands. It was purely accidental and had forgiven him for it, but you were dead and stuck in a void where you found Damien and Celene, angry and betrayed and hurt over what Mark had done to them. It was either let him in, or be stuck there forever. It was either let him in and try to make him happy, or stay in that empty, cold void and watch Damien worry over William and what Mark would do for eternity.
Your hands were tied. So you let him in.
And he broke your heart.
It was already cracked and splintering from the hurt of what had happened the past two days. Especially when William went completely insane, looking for Celene – the love of his life – and Damien – the best friend he’d ever have. He may not ever know the lengths Damien went to protect him. And that hurt.
But that was nothing compared to the next part. When you grabbed hold of Damien’s cane and watched as your body changed into something that wasn’t you. Into a body that was alike to Damien’s in every way, but wasn’t completely him either. This person in the mirror was hurt, angry, betrayed. And he was going to pass the gift of this down to you. You had already lost control of moving your body. You knew that when Not Damien turned to look at his cane and your vision didn’t shift with it. You were stuck, shocked.
And with a crack of Not Damien’s neck, you were completely shut out. No apology. No look of care. His eyes… the eyes that once were so kind and gentle now filled with rage and betrayal. And he had given you a dose of exactly that. Betrayal. And then he left you there. Locked away in a void of reality, left to figure out if you could ever leave the mirror, broken like your heart.

Rebecca’s mission to inspire the next generation of STEM rockstars
In July this year, Swinburne astronomer Dr Rebecca Allen had the opportunity to travel to California to be trained in working with the next generation of STEM rockstars.
Rebecca travelled from the USA to Australia to undertake her PhD at Swinburne. Now, she is Swinburne’s Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology School Engagement Coordinator.
Rebecca’s story
Who hasn’t dreamed of going to space? Perhaps we don’t all dream of being astronauts, but there is something captivating about the idea of leaving our comfortable planet Earth to explore the vast beyond.
However, as humans, we evolved to live on this planet. Once we get far enough away from Earth, strange things start to happen to the human body and physics gets weird. The condition known as microgravity is a reality for any astronaut that wants to live in space for a prolonged period of time.
NASA has been part of the team working to crack this case by supporting astronauts on the International Space Station. What better laboratory to study the effects of space, than one that is literally out of this world?
Recently, I was given the opportunity to mentor Haileybury College and Swinburne students as they design, build, and program their very own experiment destined for the International Space Station.
As an astronomer, and life-long space nerd, you can imagine my slack-jawed amazedness when I learned that I could help create cutting-edge research to understand just what happens in microgravity.
More importantly, I was going to be part of a program that would enable the next generation to be involved in STEM in a hands-on way not even NASA scientists were privileged to!
To prepare, I had to fly to California (where it’s still summer time!) for an intensive workshop, it was an easy sell.
The moment we arrived, we were introduced to the team that would guide us through the workshop. One of the pillars of the program, Dan Saldana, was mentored by aerospace engineer Wernher von Braun himself and went on to work at NASA for over 30 years.
The other programming wizards introduced themselves, and their humble introductions left us all with our jaws on the floor. (STEM rock stars would be an understatement!)
The first few days were a whirlwind of challenges and powerful moments. The workshop was hosted at Valley Christen High School, who founded Quest – a program assisted by NASA that enables high school students to create experiments for the International Space Station.
After they gave us a general program orientation, we were introduced to the apparatus that they custom designed to host our future experiment, called a microlab. Sending things to space is expensive, and each capsule that holds an experiment is less than 20 cm long!
We quickly learned a myriad of skills that included designing printed circuit boards, soldering, assembling the tiniest water pump you have ever seen, and programming a complex flight program for the experiment.
The week was full of long days and complex topics, but it wasn’t all work. We met astronaut Yvonne Cagle who is training to go to Mars. She spoke to us about her passion for outreach and the importance of these microgravity experiments that will be crucial for the success of any long-term space travel.
We were also treated to the amazing in-house telescope facilities of the school, and got to do a little solar observing during lunch.
Before we knew it, it was time to head back to Melbourne. While we were sad to leave our new friends, we couldn’t wait to get back to Swinburne and start our own collaboration with Hailebury students!
Written by Dr Rebecca Allen, Swinburne University of Technology.

I really liked the scenario with the Samonji brothers reacting to saniwa's baby and I was wondering if you could do something similar with Kashuu, Yasusada, Yamanbagiri, and Ishikirimaru?
Thank you! I was quite happy with that one, its good to be able to write another request answer off that. Sword boys reacting to new mother Saniwa asking then if they want to hold the baby. Kashuu• Almost goes to turn the Saniwa down out of worry since he's never held a child before but does anyway. • He just kind of has this quiet amazedness take over him until the baby wakes and cries making him panic and give them back. Yasusada• Eagerly accepts. He has to be careful about keeping his voice down and his movements less energetic holding something so gentle. • It makes him smile and he tells them he looks forward to them growing into an amazing person like their mother. Yamanbagiri• Refuses. Straight up. He does not feel comfortable or confident enough to hold a baby. • He does, however, hover over your shoulder and look down at the baby with a soft expression. Ishikirimaru• Accepts happily and hold the baby gingerly revealing he was a bit more nervous about the permission than his face showed. • The baby looks even smaller in the arms of someone large like him he is confused as you laugh slightly. Still, he eases up quickly and has a warm smile on his face.

My worst fear? Forgetting.
my worst fear? forgetting. forgetting about you and all the memories we shared. because you're not there anymore to remind me. i am responsible to keep our memories in mind. and once something is lost, a thought, a feeling, there is nothing left than an empty little space. you don't even know that you forgot something, it's just not there anymore. only from time to time there's a little bit of fear coming up to your throat, climbing through your body, letting you know that something's pretty wrong. so tell me what i'm supposed to do, facing the fact that i will slowly forget our conversations, our nights, our thoughts, our young faces laughing at each other, hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder. sometimes in the middle of the night i wake up, my heart's beating fast, because in my dream i remembered something of us i already forgot. i cannot describe the feeling of amazedness i have in these moments but it's always attended by the sad truth: i keep forgetting us. and it's scaring me. so please don't judge, please don't laugh or make fun of me if i'm trying to capture every little moment of the future. you can never have enough memories and time passes too quickly for everyone of us, believe me
