Shal, I hope you are feeling better! I wanted to add something to your Silvia-Amara meta if you don't mind me putting something into the mix as a long shot. Carmen from the djinn dream in What is and Should Never Be looks a lot like both of them. That seems like something!
Thank you. I'm feeling some better, but veeery sore and sleepless for the pain. (On the flipside, I can breathe better and already have more energy.)
This is so iiiiiiiinteresting, thank you!
I'll be honest...I had to go back to remind myself what Carmen even looked like. But yes! Carmen from the El Sol ad! Carmen the nurse! (I always thought she was a nod to one of Dean's psychosexual fixations, too; that is, films with hot men who dance like Swayze (Carmen 1983). I mean, hello Antonio Gades.
Plus, you know his thing for Spanish soap operas... ("Mi amor! Mi amor! Por favor despierta!" Poor Ricardo.)
Tumblr media
And Dean's love for soaps from 7x03 The Girl Next-door. (Yes, the "My love, my love, please wake up!" one.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
//
Ahem. Anyway. Back to our Carmen. *points* Oh, my God. Yeah, it's El Sol, but it's also the specter of the beach. I am choking on my own spit here.
Tumblr media
There's definitely something analogous in Sylvia (from season 15's Gimme Shelter) being an idealized something that Connor maybe thought he wanted, felt comfort going after, or tried to make himself want.
For that matter, I think there's something parallel here in how Amara views her love for Dean, too. Amara's view of Dean is idealized, draped in always-or-never statements, and impersonal. Meanwhile, the Dean of season 11 has grown immensely since the djinn dream in season 2. His conceptualization of love has become less romanticized:
DEAN: I can’t explain it, but to call it desire or love…it’s not that.
Carmen was an ideal, and Amara was perhaps the network's ideal, but Sylvia is actually not quite as one-to-one to either of them here. Sylvia was a real relationship with Connor, even if was perhaps a tragic childhood misstep for Connor while he was trying to figure himself out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, Carmen Porter's own words come back to haunt the Dean & Amara and Dean & Carmen relationships. Even our idealized romantic relationships falter, and they too become as baggage-ridden as our family, and our family is imperfect.
CARMEN: Well, you don't really spend a lot of time together. I mean, I just think you don't know each other all that well.
In early days, Dean's conceptualization of Carmen is adorably immature, like a teenager's dream: someone who accepts my eating habits n' idiosyncrasies, listens to me, and loves me. Someone who is "respectable" and stable. (In season 2, Dean is still, like Amara, dealing with the core wound of his nursery.)
Sylvia and Connor seemed to know each other quite well and were "a couple." He genuinely loved her, in his own way. Their connection just wasn't exactly what Sylvia thought it was, or wanted it to be. She became angry with Connor and called him a LIAR, and then she murdered him.
Dean has carried healthy relationships with dark-eyed beauties as well, like Lisa Braeden and "I-thought-we-had-a-connection" Risa from season 5's The End.
Hmmm. Okay, yes. I think your point is a good point. And it has branching points, too. There's a lot tangled up in here! Season 15's Sylvia Jones has some uncomfortable similarities to season 5's Risa, especially.

🎶✨️when u get this u have to put 5 songs u actually listen to, publish, then send this ask to 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool)🎶✨️
Thank you for mentioning me!
Right now...
--Nek: Laura non c'e: Recently, I listened through the songs of Sanremo 1997, and I've heard this one was a hit. It didn't instantly grab me other than with the lyrics, but I find myself playing this quite often!
--Savage Garden: Universe -- I love Savage Garden's debut; all of their songs are awesome and I always go back to them. Universe inspired one of my poems, and I like the mix of sensuality and doubt in the lyrics.
--Tamino: The First Disciple -- I've gotten to really love Tamino's discography recently, and this stands out in particular, because of its introspective feel. I like the meditation on the rise to fame, and the oud helps it wonderfully.
--Teya Dora: Dzanum -- I found out about this recently, because it was trending on LyricsTranslate. And it's so beautifully melancholic, with a dark soundscape and haunting lyrics. Expect a few works inspired by this song.
--Luna Amara: Roşu aprins -- Super touching and beautiful.
How do these songs make you feel?

Neptune was munching on chips, giving another grateful nod to the owner when they dropped off waters. He eyed the usb stick curiously but didn't reach for it, never knew when there was more or a catch.
"I'm not really the tech guy but we got an expert back in the office," he said after taking a sip. "You hoping to leak this or want our help to find even more?" He took a chance to eat another chip, "Also just so I know where we at, this a personal matter or you just working to get some truth out there. Got plenty of folks like that back in the office."
"Sounds good," she snorted, before following after him. Even if it made no goddamn sense for Neptune to have a trap ready for her, her eyes still flitted around like she was expecting one while they made their way down the alleyways.
The tall woman didn't really relax when they sat down. She did relax somewhat when food was placed in front of her face and she eagerly took a chip with some of the green stuff.
"Got a lead," she answered after swallowing, before grabbing another chip.
She rummaged through her pocket as she chewed on that one, before placing her fist, clenched around a usb stick, on the table.
"Or, dirt's a better word for it," she leaned back in her booth.

Meet me at the cabin. Please.
You weren’t sure what to make of it. A cryptic late night text sent from your younger sibling, begging you to meet up at your family’s old lake home. The plea for help was as concerning as it was confusing. As far as you knew, neither of you had set foot in the cabin in a decade. You had your hesitations, but Willow seemed desperate. You couldn’t help but oblige.
Everything goes downhill fast when Willow's research into childhood ghost stories lands you in a town that doesn't exist. A town where people go missing at an alarming rate, where things that aren't quite human run businesses with hungry eyes, where time runs differently.
A town you can't leave.
Something about Easthaven is wrong. A supernatural fog permeates the town, so thick you could choke…but you’re one of the only people who seems to notice it. You’re quick to realize the fog keeps the residents ignorant, keeps them passive, keeps them trapped. When people who have long since gone missing start coming back home, you realize Easthaven’s mysteries go deeper than you could have ever imagined.
Explore the magic and the horrors of the small town of Easthaven, team up with the few others who can see through the fog, and do everything you can to make your way back home.
The Lonely Shore is an 18+ supernatural horror story (and mystery) inspired by works such as Midnight Mass, The Mist, Scarlet Hollow, and Gravity Falls. A story about how sometimes places can feel like people, how easy it is to do terrible things for those we love, and how small towns have a way of eating you alive.
Tumblr media
FEATURES:
Play as male, female, or nonbinary; trans or cis. Choose up to two sets of pronouns or input your own. Customize your appearance and develop your personality throughout the game.
Romance or befriend a cast of characters. Options for ace and aro routes, as well as three polyamorous paths.
Customize Willow, your younger sibling. Select their gender and determine what your relationship with them is. Will you rebuild a broken relationship? Or let a good one go down in flames?
Explore the world of Easthaven, a town that exists outside of time, separated completely from the rest of the world. A place where tragedy is mundane and death is around every corner. Encounter the Fog, the source of all of Easthaven’s horrors.
Build up to one of five distinct magic styles as your character comes to life; including necromancy, clairvoyance, manipulating the Fog, becoming something monstrous–or suppressing your magic instead, having it come out in uncontrollable bursts.
Solve the mystery of the Returned: citizens who have been missing for months, years, decades but who have recently started coming back home.
Tumblr media
CHARACTERS:
Jaylen 'Jay' Jones (M/F)
A veterinarian-in-training and member of the town's Search & Rescue team who has seen Easthaven's horrors firsthand. A kindhearted but wary person who cares more about keeping people safe than they do about solving the town's mysteries. They're tired of losing people.
Yasmin Bakir-King (F)
The local librarian, a fiercely clever widow with very little patience for nonsense. Very outgoing, she's one of the most well-known figures in town. She starts the story unaware of Easthaven's dangers but very quickly gets thrust into the middle of the town's latest mystery.
Amir/Amara "Croft" (M/F)
A reclusive, ill-tempered horror author who just so happens to be the town's latest newcomer…until you show up. Croft came to town with their share of secrets, and there's nothing in the world they want more than to escape Easthaven.
Beck Dawn (genderfluid)
Fun-loving and reckless, Beck is an adrenaline junkie who can't seem to stay out of danger…despite being completely unaware of the town's secrets. A magnet for trouble, it's no surprise Beck lands right in the middle of Easthaven's latest mystery.
Ravi Singh (M)
Easthaven's local mortician. Ravi is easygoing and quick to laugh; though sometimes his humor leans towards the macabre. But his easy smiles don't cover up his almost chilling comfort with the Fog; nor do they get rid of the pile of skeletons in his closet.
Perri Loveless (M/F/NB)
Runs one of Easthaven's three radio stations. In the day they play music, and at night they host a supernatural-themed call in radio show, The Lonely Shore. Perri is an enthusiastic (if a bit awkward) person whose theories tend towards the unbelievable. It's unfortunate that, despite all of their theories, Perri has no idea what's actually going on in Easthaven.
And…
"Willow" (M/F/NB)
Your little sibling. Flighty, impulsive, and outgoing; their fascination with the occult is what lands you in Easthaven. Your relationship can range from best friends to sworn enemies. Will they be able to save you from the mess they've made?

Hi Tumblr! I'm Amara, I'm Romillacect's daughter...yeah, I know, not the best reputation. But I swear on my life, Mom and I are nothing alike, I mean I barely even know her due to being in a pocket dimension almost my entire life. Ahem, anyways, little info about me: My pronouns are she/her, I like sewing, journaling, and...oh, I'm pretty good at sword fighting if anyone wants to spare with me.

I always thought that Connor and Silvia were a parallel for the incompatible love between Cas and Dean. It's right there in how the episode says they used to date by watching old movies together, and how Dean says that Cas was always there for him in season 11.
I mean, you're not wrong in noting the similarities. Sylvia does lament that she and Connor "used to date, kinda," that they "watched old movies together," that they were "just kids," and "he was always there for her." She is domineering and bosses him to do her dirty work, like Dean bosses Cas to go to Hell with Belphegor in 15x03.
It's simply another slice of Gimme Shelter you can pull out and shine a light on, with Sylvia as a dark Dean and Connor as an unsuspecting, queer-oriented Castiel. I still think Sylvia represents Amara's place in the paradigm much better, though. Amara is like a dark Dean, after all, clinging to the safety and security of the idealized childhood.
And I think your approach, should we accept it as such, would actually constitute a direct, dramatic reversal of those assumptions. It would be steeped in irony. Sylvia, the "dark Dean" in your analogy, thinks that Connor doesn't love her like that.
But we see a few episodes later (15x18) that this is not the truth for the Dean-and-Cas unit, and that Cas actually wants to live side-by-side with Dean as a pair of individuals. Dean-and-Cas get the acknowledged date motif...but they also get the full-circle, romantic, spousal love motif, because Cas returned Dean's feelings all along.

Friends don't look at friends that way (Ongoing series on AO3)
In the aftermath of a harrowing incident, trauma surgeon Amara Jones finds herself unexpectedly intertwined with the lives of the heroic firefighters from Station 118. As Evan "Buck" Buckley's primary surgeon after a life-threatening injury, an unexpected bond forms between them, which deepens when they realise they're new neighbours.
As Amara becomes the go-to caretaker for the close-knit crew, her relationships with Buck and his best friend Eddie Diaz intensify. What begins as a casual friends-with-benefits arrangement with Buck evolves into much more as Amara finds herself falling for both men. Buck and Eddie, too, begin to develop feelings for the compassionate surgeon who's become an integral part of their lives.
Navigating the complexities of polyamory, they embark on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, forging an unbreakable bond.
