These sketches for a fic I'm writing set in a ST:TNG AU are particularly special to me as they almost didn't happen. Earlier today returning from a trip to buy gluten free food at a specialist supermarket I got off the bus and my (older but much fitter) OH dashed across a busy road expecting me to do the same. Unfortunately, as I did so I tripped and fell in the path of an oncoming car. I was bruised and hurt but couldn't move. And I was terrified. Luckily the car stopped for my OH to help me up and carry me to our house. The driver even asked him if was OK (I wasn't lol). I have since had minor medical attention for a sprained ankle and severe contusions to my left knee and elbow. I'm taking painkillers and sedatives for shock. But what is going through my head is that if that driver had been a boy racer in a supermini and not a middle aged lady driving at 20 mph I might not be here now to tell the tale and these drawings would not exist...

Just found out that Patti Yatusake who played Nurse Ogawa has died. It is strange as I was writing a segment of a fic which includes her last night. Such a tragic loss...as so many people I know and love have been taken by this wicked disease. May she forever rest among the stars 💙😭
