Sims 4 Legacy Challenge ROYAL EDITION
Adapted from “The Legacy Challenge Lite”
Welcome to the Sims 4 Legacy Challenge - Royal Edition!
I could never seem to find a challenge that I could use to play out a Royal-themed challenge to my liking. The original Legacy Challenge provided the best guidelines with enough restrictions to make it challenging, not so many that it was overly complicated, and enough relevance that it could be adapted for Royalty.
There are actually two versions of this challenge. I decided to use the “Lite” version, as I was not interested in Scoring (but the link to that, if that’s something that interests you, is below.)
The rules of the original Sims 4 Legacy Challenge Lite follow after the Royal Perks I’ve added to this challenge. I’ve struck out anything I felt like didn’t add to the challenge or made it hard to keep Royal-themed.
If you like this challenge and play along, I’d love to read your stories! Tag your posts with #Sims 4 Royal Legacy #Royal Legacy Challenge or #Keep Calm and Sim On so we can see what everyone’s Royal Families are up to!
Now, the fun part…
Royal Perks
Your founders may begin their lives in a palace as elaborate as you wish! Create the Royal home of your dreams - no budget is necessary! You may only use ‘motherlode’ while building your palace; once the challenge begins, this cheat is no longer allowed. You may use any Lot Traits you like, but think about which would best suit this challenge. The palace may be in any neighbourhood (ie. the Kingdom), and your Royal Family may interact with anyone in the game (ie. all worlds.)
You may create, download and/or move-in commoners, Nobility, other Royal families into your Kingdom but you MUST NOT PLAY THEM. You may only play a Sim once they are moved into your palace (ie. when they are married into the family.)
The challenge begins once your founder(s) move in to the Palace. You must set their money to §50,000. This is the last time you may adjust Simoleons.
Your founder may be male or female (or X, for that matter) and single or married. They must not have any children. (Laws regarding Succession are below.) You may title them appropriately (King/Queen, Duke/Duchess, Prince/Princess.)
You may have as many children as you like! (Keep in mind your home’s capacity of 8. You may not be able to move through the generations as quickly if you have a lot of children.) Butlers and Nannies are allowed - in fact, they are encouraged! This is your chance to live an extravagant life!
Children and teens must attend school as normal. Heirs/spares may also attend University, if they choose. They must pay their tuition in full, without taking a student loan. It can be completed full- or part-time. The heir MAY NOT move into student housing, as they must always remain on the lot. The spares may go away for University, but must return to the Palace.
When your Sim is the head of the family (ie. King/Queen) they MAY NOT hold a job. Their only job is to reign over their land. The heir (and spares) may hold a job while they are in line-to-the-throne, but once they ascend, they must quit. The jobs your Royals may have are limited to:
Freelancer Writer
Painter
Trendsetter
Photographer
Charity Organizer
Internet Personality
Environmental Manager
Botanist
Military
During their lives, each generation must host the following three social events*:
Coronation - the Official crowning of the King/Queen. Plan this as a “Black and White Bash.” A solemn event - may take place on or off Palace grounds (typically, in a cathedral or the like.) The dress code is White Tie. Children are typically not invited.
Royal Wedding - must take place in a church/religious establishment/civic building and have a full reception of 20 guests. Plan this as a “Wedding.” The dress code is Black Tie. You must be engaged first and may not elope. Children may be invited.
State Dinner - this is an occasion for the Royal Family to show off their kingdom! This event must take place at the Palace. Plan this as a “Dinner Party.” The dress code is Black or White tie. The guest list must be full, however, it is limited to other Royals, Nobility and Celebrities. No children allowed.
*Other than your founders, who are only responsible for one State Dinner, and one wedding if they begin unmarried. They have technically already been crowned, and thus do not need to have a Coronation.
The guest list must always be set at the maximum (so make lots of friends quickly!) and you must hire a caterer, mixologist and entertainer. You must achieve at minimum Bronze level to count the party. If it was unsuccessful, you must throw another.
These events may occur in any order - it will depend on your storyline - however, the State Dinner must be thrown by the King/Queen when they are reigning.
Well, that’s all for the Royal Perks! Below are the rest of the rules for the standard Legacy Challenge.
Keep Calm and Sim On!
Legacy Challenge Official Website
https://simslegacychallenge.com/the-legacy-challenge-lite/
Getting Started
Your challenge begins in Create-A-Sim (CAS.) There, you must design your founder. Your founder can be just about anything you want (they can even be an alien!) You can pick whatever aspiration you want for them and give them whatever traits you want. Pick out their gender, wardrobe, body shape and color, and even incorporate any custom content or mods. The ONLY two rules are that they must be of the Young Adult age, and they must be the only person in the household.
Take extra care when giving them their name, especially their last name, as many future Sims will have that as part of their name, so make it a good one!
Gender Law
The first component is Gender. You must pick one of the following options:
Matriarchy: The Founder must be female. Only girls are eligible to be named heir unless there are no female children, at which point boys become eligible for that generation.
Strict Matriarchy: The Founder must be female. Only girls are eligible to be named heir. Male children cannot, under any circumstance, ever be the heir to the next generation.
Patriarchy: The Founder must be male. Only boys are eligible to be named heir unless there are no male children, at which point girls become eligible for that generation.
Strict Patriarchy: The Founder must be male. Only boys are eligible to be named heir. Female children cannot, under any circumstance, ever be the heir to the next generation.
Equality: The Founder may be of either gender. Both boys and girls are eligible for the title of heir.
Strict Equality: The founder may be of either gender. However, only children of the opposite gender to the founder are eligible to be named heir. This repeats itself for the next generation (the next heir must be a different gender than the previous heir) so that each generation will have alternating-genders as heirs.
Bloodline Law
The Second Component is Bloodline law. You must pick from one of these options:
Strict Traditional: To be eligible to be named heir, a child must be naturally born from their previous-generation parents and be able to trace an unbroken bloodline back to the founder. Adopted children may never be named heir.
Traditional: Children who are naturally born from the previous generation are eligible to be named heir. Adopted children are ineligible to be named heir unless there are no naturally born children, at which point they become eligible for that generation.
Modern: Both Naturally born and adopted children are eligible to be named heir.
Foster: Children who are adopted are eligible to be named heir. Naturally born children are not eligible to be named heir unless there are no adopted children, at which point they become eligible for that generation.
Strict Foster: Only Children who are adopted are eligible for the title of heir. Naturally born children may never be heir.
The Gender Law and Bloodline Law serve as a sort of ‘qualifying’ round. If either law names a child as ineligible, then they cannot gain the title of heir. However, just because a child is eligible to be named heir according to Gender and Bloodline laws, doesn’t mean they WILL be the heir. The third category actually picks the heir.
Heir Law
The third Category is the Heir Selection Law. You must choose from the following options:
First Born: The oldest, by order of joining the family, eligible living child is named heir.
Last Born: The youngest, by order of joining the family, eligible living child is named heir.
Living Will: The eligible child with the highest friendly relationship score with their previous-generation’s parent will be named heir.
Merit: The child with the most fully completed aspirations will be named heir. If there is a tie, the child with the highest level in a single skill will become heir from among the children who are tied.
Strength: The first born eligible child becomes heir by default… but the tile can be forcefully taken from them if an eligible sibling beats them in a fight. That sibling may have their title taken (or taken back) if they lose a fight to another eligible sibling.
Random: The title of heir is randomly selected from the pool of all eligible children. Every time the eligible pool changes size, the heir must be re-rolled using the new pool.
Exemplar: At the beginning of the challenge, name a single trait. This trait must be one of your founder’s three traits. Any eligible heir that has this trait will gain the title of heir. If a single generation has no children with this trait follow the First Born rule. If more than one child has the Exemplar trait then the oldest child WITH the trait will be the heir.
Democracy: This rule may be used if you are displaying your Legacy Challenge in some public way. Either via Let’s Play, Livestream, blog or other format where people can leave comment. The heir is chosen by your viewers/readers from among the pool of eligible heirs.
Magical Bloodline: Choose the heir by whoever has the strongest magical bloodline trait. If there is no magical bloodline trait (ie in the earlier generations) then the law defaults to first born until magic is introduced to the family. If multiple potential heirs have the same level of magical trait, choose the oldest one.
Magical Strength: Similar to the Strength law above, this one requires two or more potential heirs to have a magical duel. Whoever wins the duel, is the new heir.
Children
Regardless of your succession law, you may always introduce children into your family via pregnancy or adoption. Bloodline law will determine which are eligible to be heirs. (With the addition of The Sims 4 Get to Work alien babies can also be brought into the family via abduction.) Children may only be adopted as infants. You may not adopt if there are any infants (natural born or adopted) living in the house at the time and must wait for them to grow to toddlers before adopting a new one. You may rename the baby, and it is recommended (but not required) that you change their last name to the Legacy Family’s name.
Regardless of their status, when an infant ages up into a toddler, you must roll for their toddler trait (and later their aspiration and their first trait using the calculator found here when they become a child.) Be sure to put the traits of the two parents (even for adopted children) in the calculator because the algorithm it uses factors those in when generating random traits for the children. When the child grows into a teenager, you consult the calculator again for their adult aspiration and their second trait. Finally the calculator will be used to generate the third trait upon reaching young adulthood.
There is an option here to generate both aspirations and all three traits for a sim at once, though the proper method is to wait until the Sim ages up. And remember- No re-rolling! One of the hallmarks of this challenge is getting randomly generated children so you should keep the good with the bad. Since the traits of the parents have an influence on the traits of their children, you can try to engineer children by selecting spouses with desirable traits, but this is no guarantee.
You are allowed to use fruit and/or music to influence the gender of an unborn child, should you choose to do so.
Gameplay Rules
No cheats/hacks/mods that give you an advantage in the challenge over someone that does not use them (ie. no “motherlode” or “kaching” to get more money.)
No restarting the game after bad events. You must let them play out.
You may not move or merge in other Sims into the Legacy Family with the exception of partners/spouses.
The Legacy Family must remain on the same lot for the duration of the challenge (this does not include vacations.) They are free (and encouraged) to develop their house but they may not move into a new house. Rooms may be imported into the house from the exchange as long as the family pays full price for the construction and items contained within.
A Sim may utilize an anti-aging item ONCE in their lifetime.
You may not change a Sim’s current aspiration. The exception is when they fully complete an aspiration. When that happens, you may choose their new aspiration, as long as it is not one they’ve already completed.
You may not bring a Sim back from the dead once the reaper has taken them. You MAY plead with the reaper in order to save a recently dead Sim.
You may not move/marry out the sim who currently holds the title of “Heir.” All of the other children in that generation (known as ‘spares’) may move or marry out. Once a sim moves out, they are ineligible to be heir, even if conditions change that might make them the rightful heir.
When playing a Legacy Challenge, your legacy family is the ONLY family you may play in that saved game. You MAY move in new families into the neighbourhood during your challenge (keeping in mind that they can be used for friends, but not spouses) but you may not play them.
You must use the Random Trait Generator to get traits and aspirations for all children born/adopted into the family.

Nora Valkyrie is one of the most engaging characters in RWBY, because she’s always engaging with other characters. And as much fun as she has doing so, especially with her hammer, you’d be forgiven for thinking she’s just another boisterous bruiser genki girl hybrid. But when it comes to Dungeoneering, Nora ain’t nobody’s fool.
When coming up with this build, I found out that I had a lot of goals I wanted to kit. Obviously Nora wouldn’t be complete without her Legendary Boomhammer, so I needed a way to let her blow things up and smash things to bits. I also needed to figure out how to represent her skills at scavenging, I don’t think she lost that from her early days. And of course, she needs to be fun but able to lecture people about their emotional constipation at a moment’s notice.
This all led me to an interesting realization: Nora’s highest stat would have to be Wisdom. It’s the ‘notice things’ stat for a reason, so 15 points go into it. And next, after some very careful consideration, I figured 14 points of Dexterity would be good to handle some multiclassing requirements. 13 points in Constitution fits her prodigious appetite quite well, and 12 points in Strength gives her hammer a little extra oomph. Admittedly, 10 points in Charisma doesn’t quite fit with how bold a personality she has, but for all her boldness she’s only pressed her opinion when it absolutely needed to be pressed. And that leaves 8 points for Intelligence, which is booksmarts, which... Nora’s not dumb, but she didn’t really have a formal edumacation.
Variant humans are a bundle of nice little goodies, like two Ability points to even out Wisdom and Constitution, a free skill training so Nora can learn Survival, and a feat of choice--the Fell Handed feat is perfect for a hammer-wielder, giving a +1 to all attack rolls with the hammer, a chance to knock an enemy prone if the attack has advantage, an equal chance to deal Strength damage on a miss if the attack has disadvantage, and the ability to knock away an enemy’s shield if Nora is helping somebody else attack them. I mean not many people use shields on Remnant, but the option is there.
As for background... sigh. The background’s name is Urchin. Sorry, that’s just how it is sometimes. Nora gets proficiency in Stealth, Slight of Hand, Thieves’ Tools, and Disguise Kit. She also gets the City Secrets feature, which means she just knows how cities work and can find shortcuts anywhere. Is it the most useful skillset? No. Is it in character? Mmmyah.
Now, I looked at Barbarian for Nora. I really, really looked at it. At the Rage feature. At all the subclasses. And in the end... I decided we could get what we wanted without having to give up casting, just through careful application of other classes. So no, Nora isn’t a Barbarian. She’s four levels Hunter Ranger, eight levels Zeal Cleric... and first and foremost, 8 levels of Kensei Monk.
Yes. Monk. You heard me. Nora is a Monk. This will make sense shortly.
Monks get proficiency in simple weapons, and also shortswords (but we’ll be multiclassing into Ranger so we get proficiency in all martial weapons anyway). They can also choose one set of Artisan’s Tools or one Instrument to be proficient in; Chibi Nora was apparently good with drums, buuuut realistically I kinda think maybe Nora would be better served with Leatherworker’s Tools. They get Strength and Dexterity saving throws and, oh yeah, two skills--Athletics and Insight would fit pretty well.
At eight levels of Monk, Nora gets a lot of special traits--Unarmored Defense means that if she’s not wearing armor her AC is 10+her Wisdom Mod+her Dexterity Mod, Unarmored Movement means she gets +15 feet of movement on top of that, Slow Fall lets her reduce falling damage by 40 points as a reaction (great landing strategy!), and Evasion means if she has to roll a saving throw to take half damage, she takes half if she fails and none if she succeeds. Also she gets Stillness of Mind, letting her shake off one condition making her Charmed or Frightened; admittedly that’s not a good name for a Nora skill, so maybe she comes at it the other way, having a mind so chaotic that she can just bulldoze through mental effects.
Of course Monk also gives Nora Martial Arts, letting her use Dexterity in place of Strength on attack and damage rolls with unarmed strikes or her monk weapon (Remember that! Remember that!). Unarmed attacks deal 1d6+Dexterity Mod damage, count as magical for purposes of determining resistance, and she can use a bonus action to make an unarmed attack after she takes the Attack action. Nora also gets Ki points to spend, eight in total which recharge on a rest, and she can use them for a Flurry of Blows, Patient Defense, Step of the Wind, Deflecting Missles, or a Stunning Strike, all great in combat. Also she gets an Extra Attack, letting her make two attacks per Attack action.
This all comes together with the Kensei Way, which lets us choose two weapons--one ranged, one melee--that aren’t heavy or special, and make them into Monk weapons. And Warhammers are versatile, not heavy, so they’re a valid option. As are Light Crossbows, which are about the closest thing in the book to a grenade launcher? At eight levels Kensei weapons are considered magical and can be used to make an Agile Parry, giving +2 AC after every turn Nora makes an unarmed attack as part of an attack action, give the ability to give her ranged attack +1d4 damage, and the ability to spend a ki point to do an extra 1d6 damage to attacks with those weapons. Also, Nora gets proficiency with Painter’s Supplies. I’m sure that will be very important.
Multiclassing into Ranger gives us proficiency in Light Armor, Medium Armor, and Shields, but really why would we use any of that with Unarmored Defense? Also we get proficiency with Martial Weapons, but Nora’s already got a really, really good hammer. But we do get an extra skill proficiency, and picking up Perception couldn’t hurt. We’re mostly here for the four levels of ‘I know how to survive in the wild’ this gives us.
Favored Enemy lets a Ranger pick a certain kind of enemy, making them easier to track, and boy howdy are there a lot of Grimm on Remnant! We’re actually going to swap out Natural Explorer for Deft Explorer, a variant feature which lets us pick up the Tireless trait; Nora can regenerate 1d10+her Wisdom mod HP, a number of times equal to her wisdom mod per long rest, and also reduces her exhaustion level by one every short rest. Of the Fighting Styles, I chose Druidic Warrior, giving Nora two Druid cantrips on top of the spells she’s going to get from Cleric and Ranger--there’s a reason for that, but I’ll wait till we get to the spellcasting to explain. The Hunter archetype gives us one of three traits, and Horde Breaker lets us make an extra attack on a creature next to another creature after we hit the first creature with a weapon. And of course Primeval Awareness gives Nora the ability to melt a spell slot so she can sense Grimm in the area. Or jerks. Actually, make her favored enemy “Jerks” if the GM will let you get away with it, she’s partners with Ren and he can spot all the Grimm for her.
Eight Levels in a Cleric of Zeal is mostly good for spells, but there are some side perks. Proficiency in Heavy Armor is one of them, and Priest of Zeal is another, letting Nora make a bonus attack when she hits something with a weapon attack a number of times equal to her wisdom modifier per long rest. Resounding Strike lets her shove something back ten feet every time she does Thunder damage, and Divine Strike gives her an extra 1d8 damage to one weapon attack per turn. And then there’s Channel Divinity, which she can use twice per rest; either to Turn Undead, making them scared of her and any less than CR 1 just flat out die, or engaging in Consuming Fervor, letting her max out any Fire or Thnder damage she does on an attack.
Now that all has stunning implications for Nora’s spells, but before we can figure out what spells she has I think we should talk about the 5 Ability Improvements this build gives us. That’s ten points to spend on abilities, which is just enough to max out Wisdom and Dexterity at 20 each. If you’ve been paying attention, that really adds extra oomph across the board for the girl.
And now, the spells. The Zeal Domain means Nora automatically knows a few spells, and Fireball works great for her grenades, but for the rest I aimed mostly on either mimicking her semblance or giving her new and creative ways to smash with her hammer. There’s a lot of thunder spells. A lot. So in total Nora has four cleric cantrips and two druid cantrips, and she knows three ranger spells up to level one and all the level 1-4 Domain of Zeal spells, and... huh, I miscalculated, I thought it was half her cleric level plus her wisdom mod, but it’s her total cleric level plus her wisdom mod cleric spells she can prepare. Oh well, it’s almost midnight, just add four more cleric spells up to level 4 that you like. And here’s the list:
Cantrips:
Gust (Druidic Warrior)
Mending (Cleric)
Sacred Flame (Cleric)
Thaumaturgy (Cleric)
Thunderclap (Druidic Warrior)
Toll the Dead (Cleric)
L1 (four slots):
Absorb Elements (Ranger)
Guiding Bolt (Cleric) (Concentration)
Hunter's Mark (Ranger) (Concentration)
Inflict Wounds (Cleric)
Sanctuary (Cleric)
Searing Smite (Zeal Domain) (Concentration)
Thunderous Smite (Zeal Domain) (Concentration)
Wild Cunning (Ranger)
L2 (three slots):
Deafness (Cleric)
Locate Object (Cleric)
Magic Weapon (Zeal Domain) (Concentration)
Shatter (Zeal Domain)
Silence (Cleric)
L3 (three slots):
Haste (Zeal Domain) (Concentration)
Fireball (Zeal Domain)
Remove Curse (Cleric)
L4 (three slots):
Banishment (Cleric) (Concentration)
Fire Shield (Zeal Domain) (Warm Only)
Freedom of Movement (Zeal Domain)
Stone Shape (Cleric)
L5 (two slots):
Two slots, no spells
Lots of fun and interesting variations on ‘hit it with your hammer’ here. Mostly based on causing a lot of noise, moving things around, or pulling out a grenade and using a touch of flamey booms when she needs it. Plus a few utility spells to make life on the road easier.
So yeah, that’s Nora.

Current Activities in Sims 4 #6
So here, I’m going to do a sort of character spotlight. After a little blurb, and a Read More break because there’s a LOT of images in this.
Around the time the Star Wars patch came out and killed several mods, I decided to create a new world. My first and original one after ~90 hours was becoming a bit cramped (I had about 12 custom households spread around. Still plenty of lots to move into but still). The ‘big’ ones updated quick and I just took it as a sign to start anew, with some makeovers. My first world also had sims and families that didn’t have the luxury of all the clothing options I do now, so there’s also that.
So my first madeover family is Relmyna and Ameel.
Their narrative is that they are two artists helping each other out. Relmyna is a magic’d bloodline but mostly human artist who funds most of the household. She has a legit job as a painter. Ameel is... an alien. She’s all about the music, and so far has remained unemployed as she builds up her fame by DJing at certain hotspots. She avoids her disguise because she thinks that helps her get famous faster. On a narrative basis, she’s right. Mechanically, this means nothing. Just gotta deal with that “embarassed” moodlet every so often. Their main gameplay loop is Relmyna getting a shitton of money and upgrading their household. Which right now is about two or three satellite buildings.
They barely enter the main house, by the way. Anyway, Ameel spends most of her time practicing instruments. She’s maxed out on DJing and Guitar, and pretty high in singing. Like 9 or something. She’ll work on Violin next, and maybe Piano. I’m not sure what any of that will really do for her, it just suits her narrative. Here’s some proper headshots. I won’t be following this same format with every Sim, just kind of figuring this out as I go.
So here’s one of my newest concepts, Kassandra Sun. She was originally darker skinned. She started as a Dark Elf/Dunmer from TES like thing but that ashy black skintone doesn’t really ‘work’ with the animations. They look a bit blobby, and that’s probably why the community is complaining about some of the darker skintones in the game. I made her more human-dark and realized she looked like three of my other characters (very close to Relmyna with different hair) so I just Caucasian’d her up.
She’s my first foray into the acting career and so far I’m enjoying it, though it’s hard to tell how much fame I’m actually getting out of it. She’s a B-lister right now and that’s a pretty good place to be, some of the 3 star perks are very useful. Like how you can skip auditions and costuming and go straight to the role. So that’s cool. I’ve also clearly given her some elven/magical descent because I’m a slut for those Plentiful needs potions. Her current house is an upgrade from a starter but is mostly just a full prefab with an extension to put her relevant stuff. She paints on the side because I’m a slut for that painter money. She adopted a kitten named Kelly, whom I will manually age up in a season or two (I have aging disabled because some of my technically immortal character concepts were becoming elders without me noticing).
Now here comes my self insert, a trans girl named Livia Jones. I’ve talked about her in previous posts but nothing has really changed except her wardrobe. Even her default outfit has remained the same because I LOVE it and want it in real life. Pretty sure I have the pants at least.
She has a pet cat named Jailbird.
Interestingly, she does not have the “mischievous” trait... that I can remember. I just liked the outfit. I will say this version of Livia slightly differs from my first world’s Livia, but probably not for very long. Right now she’s a writer and with a writer’s job. In the previous world, writing was a side gig (like it is IRL) but was a professional gamer as her actual job. I might actually be going back to that eventually but I’ll go down the Author career for a small while. Her royalties are up to ~3500 right now and that’s not bad, but I also liked the idea of streaming and I want to get back to that. It’d be closer to RL, but without all the money, fame, and success. Which is why I love this game. This is Malia Tilo.
My attempt at an islander and mermaid, and eventually I want to delve into the eco mechanic of the island. She has a cat named Moana. I’ve tried a couple different things with her, like living off the grid but there’s something generating 2 units of power and I can’t fucking find it. I also experimented with the Naturalist thing from Wicked Whims but they tend to keep dressed when you’re on other Sims so it doesn’t really amount to much beyond some basic level titillation. I dress her fairly skimpily (given that the island is naturally hot) so she gets some Naturist skill over time anyway. I haven’t played her much, even in my first world, because there’s not a lot going for her to interest me. Healing the island is a slow endeavor, and being a mermaid means I can’t farm up all those Plentiful Needs potions unless I get a spellcaster to move in with her, so in turn it makes running around the whole island an irritating affair. She has 583$ to her name and an easel at the ready but... Just not really in the mood to play her. So here comes The Matriarch.
She should have a cat named Lazarus as well, which is an oversight on my part. I’ll work on it. Lorewise, she’s one of my oldest and most complex characters. Not much has changed for her in World 2, so I’ll just take some screenshots I already have:
She’s much nicer than she looks. She has -some- extra outfits and accessories now but that’s her main look in general. I also found a lighting-type tattoo over her body which simulates part of her curse. The idea is that she was overcharged with some chaos magic a long time ago in her plotline, thus the fucked up face and bad teeth. The stuff you see on her face (typically a vampire thing) also goes through her entire body. I couldn’t find anything that does quite what I have in my head but... it’ll do.
I haven’t done much on her in World 2 yet, but I plan on downloading some type of black magic job mod so she can get to work proper. None of the odd jobs or anything suit her concept so I need something reclusive...
...like painting. Don’t judge me. That’s all for now. I still want to make a university student and engineer. I’ll get there eventually.

How to completely break a game economy and balance whilst still enjoying it (Feat: Fallout New Vegas)
Now in this thesis I shall give you a detailed run down on how to fuck the entire in game economy of New Vegas with no mods, so this is CONSOLE FRIENDLY! Or at least, PS3 friendly. DLCs don’t hurt and chances are they can help with a few steps. This “strat” uses all 4 title DLC and Couriers Stash.
Wake up after being shot in the head by Chandler.
Make yourself beautiful in your own Fallout 3 engine way.
Walk over to the not-love-tester and set your skills. This is the important part. Endurance needs to be 10 and Luck needs to be more than 7. Preferably try and get luck as close to ten as you want. Then you want to spec the rest of your stats as you do please. You’ll be adding +1 to all of these later anyways. Plus however many times you pick the +1 special perk.
Go and describe some images and reveal to Doc Mitchel that you’re a psycho or whatever.
Your tag skills and traits are not important to this run, so go nuts and choose whatever you want. I tend to go for “skilled” and some other trait and whatever tag skills I feel like. You could go for a survival, barter and science tag set with WW and Logan’s Loophole. Pick your poison really.
Tell the good doctor to go fuck himself or whatever. Go and proceedingly pilfer whatever the fuck isn’t nailed down that could be valuable. Fix the sub machine gun/make stimpaks/both and leave. The stimpaks will probably be useful.
Pick up the good springs snow globe. This is gonna be useful for the caps later.
Head to Yangtze Memorial and find the duffel bag and pick up whatever is useful from that.
This is the first fun part. You need to B-Line it to Camp Macarren. This means going past Quarry Junction. These Deathclaws will come out of no-where and fuck you up so save regularly. Good saving points are at the memorial, when you get to Sloan, when you get near Neil’s shack and once you get to Repcon(Reppcon?) HQ you are safe. What you need to do is give QJ as wide a berth as you can. If you didn’t spec into perception much then you’re gonna be a bit on edge here. Just keep looking around and stick to jumping up the terrain to get to places the Deathclaws can’t. Crouch and squat walk across the desert wasteland of Nevada
Once you’ve been harassed by some Fiends and kindly either shown them to the nearest NCR profligate soldier or introduced them to your big iron of choice, you may opt to optionally kill/loot the corpse of an NCR soldier. This isn’t needed, but saves you a modicum of time.
Head to the Camp Macarren terminal building. If you haven’t already, you can equip your soldier disguise.
Go towards the monorail and take it to Vegas. If the guards are there then you need to wait until the guards leave. Or just run past them and yell “fuck it” as loud as you can while doing so.
Take the monorail to New Vegas. Make sure you do this.
Leave the monorail building and get greeted by Yes Man. Tell him you’ll head right over to the Vegas Space Needle.
Head up the Vegas space needle.
Go to the bar level and pick up the test site snow globe. Head up to the penthouse and talk to the “lady sex bot” and cash in your snow gloves for cash money.
Go talk to house and say you’ll deal with Chandler and get the shiny circle thing that he stole when he fucked up 2 point blank headshots.
Leave the Space Needle but Gambling.
Now, the order you do this in is up to you but you should probably work your way around. You need to get 33000 caps. This means you need to exploit high luck and blackjack tables. I would recommend going to the Robot Fetishist’s casino in Freeside first and breaking its bank first. It has the worst blackjack payout and is frankly just a bit shit. But you don’t get some guy coming over and telling you you’re so amazing and to keep going while you’re there so it’s not so bad. Then go to Gomorrah, Topps and Ultraluxe in that order. Killing Benny is optional while in Topps.
Once you have broken the bank in all 4 casinos, plus whatever caps you had already you should have 33000 caps.
Go to Ultraluxe and get around 33000 chips. This’ll probably take a moment to spam the dialogue for it. Feel free to put on Johnny Guitar or Jingle Jangle Jingle or Big Iron. This’ll be a few minutes.
Save. Go to the table at the other side of the room and jump on it, looking down. Drop the chips. All of them.
STACK OVERFLOW ERROR HAS OCCURRED!
Pick up the chips again. They will say a negative number. This is good. It should be around -32000. Your mileage may vary depending on how far over 32217(ish) you were when you dropped the chips.
Go over to the exchange.
Proceed to get infinite money. I repeat, you can infinitely get cash money to your heart’s desire.
Once you have milked your human greed to the point where your courier is now more cap than weird homonculus person, leave Vegas. Maybe save again, if you want.
Now you have two options, but you should go to both regardless. My method has me:
Go to Gun Runners and milk them for all their ammo, mods and whatever firearms you desire. You’ll have got some combat armour from Gomorrah but it’s time for an upgrade so while you’re there pick up Combat Armour MK2.
Go to New Vegas Medical Clinic. Proceed to get every implant. If you went for the max luck option at the start you’ll get told you don’t need the luck implant. Proceed to buy up all the stimpaks and superstimpaks and all the chems you want.
Well Done. You can now break every fight you come across because you now have 100% condition armour and weapons and enough ammo to hold out against an entire battalion of profligate soldiers.
And as you level up from cheesing through quests/locations/enemies you can head back to Gun Runners and just buy new gear when it breaks.
(If you have the DLC [Which you should get it’s all amazing in unique ways])
Go to Lonesome Road first because the commissary you unlock in the starting bunker gives you a shit tonne of good loot and ammo.
Old World Blues is a good way to get 100% repairs and to become overpowered as fuck on top of your already overpowered as fuck build. The implants you get here are also all good bets.
Dead Money is a lot more fun when you have managed to become ridicously overlevelled/overpowered because you have so much big iron energy that enemies die in your mere presence. Too bad a radio will do you in harder than a deathclaw alpha.
Honest Hearts is also a lot more fun when you rock up with a modded grenade machine gun a 100% condition and HE grenades
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

General Rules
1. The entire challenge will take place in the same house. -At the end of each generation everyone will move out except for the Heir. -That means that if the heir has siblings not of age to live alone then they will need to move out with their parents to a new home. -The moving-out rule also applies to pets when the following generation does not allow pets.
2. The house can have additions (rooms) built into it but none subtracted from it -This does not include removal of walls to make bigger rooms or to re-arrange the layout, such as to add stairs for a second level. -It's not recommended to sell objects as you upgrade and grow. You never know what ancestral items may be useful in the future
3. Vampires, Aliens, Sims, Plant Sims... Anything goes
4. If you do not have the Cats & Dogs game pack then you can ignore any points related to pets. -”Pets” refers” refers to cats, dogs, and any other kind of animal that can be made from their bases. -“Pets” does not include “small pets” which were introduced with the “My First Pet” stuff pack, in-game collectible frogs or bugs, or CC fake pets. -If you wish to have small pets, frogs, bugs, or fake pets throughout the challenge, however, that is permitted.
You've always had the mind to help others. You've been good with taking care of people in the past and decided that being a doctor was the only career for you. You moved to a new town to follow your passion, but among the bars and nightclubs you've discovered another passion, a lust that cannot be tamed... Though that passion will likely come with at least one unexpected surprise. It will be up to you to figure up what kind of balance your life needs.

They were always busy with this or that, usually work or their other affairs, and you found entertainment and excitement for yourself. This usually meant helping yourself to other peoples' possessions. It wasn't as though you needed them, and you still don't. You have a mind like your parent and can achieve great things for great reward. You just... want them. And perhaps the money you can get for them isn't so bad, either... Money does provide many things, though the one thing it doesn't provide is a real parent. You're determine to do right by one child what your parent failed to do by you.

7. SKILLS: Logic, Fitness, and Parenting (PH) skills must be maxed out
8. ASPIRATION: Fabulously Wealthy, must be completed
You were the doted-upon only child of a famous and wealthy Space Ranger. When your parent was on Earth you were the center of their universe. When they were away your other parent only had eyes for you. Even your pet, specially chosen for you, saw you as their whole world. It's only natural that you would want that in your soulmate! Of course, your soulmate can't be your whole world. Your parent opened the universe to you every time they returned from space. It's only natural that you want to learn everything there is to know! Sure, you could go up there and study it, yourself, but then who knows what would happen to your soulmate while you're away...

8. ASPIRATION: Soul Mate, must be completed
You had a good childhood. Your parents were good to you, especially your parent who spent so much time working on their science things. They tried to encourage you to follow in their shoes, but that just wasn't you. You're no goody-two-shoes. When the parents weren't looking you were making your own way. You're good with people and how to read them. Whether your goal is to play nice to get what you want or rile them up for a fight, you can get it done. That's why you're the Boss. You're no-nonsense, even off working hours. Romance isn't your thing, though, and neither are pets; You never really understood either and from watching your parents they both just seemed like a bother. You loved your younger sibling(s), though, and enjoyed taking care of them. You just hope that you can balance your working empire with kids.
---RULES--
1. The color RED must be incorporated as the primary color for either the sim's clothing or furniture
2. REQUIRED TRAITS: Outgoing, Unflirty, Self-Assured (Choose two out of three)

7. SKILLS: Handiness and Mischief must be maxed out.
8. ASPIRATION: Public Enemy, must be completed
Everyone always said that you were fortunate to be the youngest. You were always told that being the youngest had it's perks. You begged to differ. You hated it because you wanted to be the one in charge. You've always had a mind of your own and a voice to go with it. Now that you've found your place in the world of politics you plan to go nowhere but up. Of course, you are prepared to do whatever necessary to get there. You learned a thing or two as a kid about doing underhanded things to achieve your goals. Schmooze with the right people parties, and keep your ears open, and the world is your oyster. Oh, and keep up the family appearance. The people love a good-looking family, not to mention a loyal family. Your family has been around for several generations now. Keep the good history in the press, and keep the shadier things in your back pocket: They may come in handy.
---RULES--
1. The color TEAL must be incorporated as the primary color for either the sim's clothing or furniture
2. REQUIRED TRAITS: Hates Children, Snob, Foodie (Choose two out of three)
3. SPOUSE: Someone very good-looking who will look good next to you for the press
4. KIDS: One child; Any more would be too much trouble. In fact, better get a nanny on the payroll for the one you have since you and your spouse will be far too busy with parties and campaigning.
5. PETS: None; They're too much trouble
6. CAREER: Politics, take the Politician path, and reach level 10 (CL) -(BG) Business, Investor path, reach level 10; Big business and big investments have nothing on you.
7. SKILLS: Charisma and Comedy must be maxed out
8. ASPIRATION: Party Animal, must be completed
You were a neglected child. You knew more of the nanny than your own parents. One parent was always busy with work, their face before the public, or at parties, padding their social life for work. Your other parent was always loyally at their side. You're not sure if they were actually in love or not. You learned a lot from listening and watching them, though. You knew your parent's political gains had some shady hands and from their research into your family history you knew that your family didn't have such a sterling life. Heinous affairs, thieving, rabid jealousy, a whole lot of bad from your grandparent, and then your parent... It seemed destined that you would fall prey to something, too. Yet, you refused to let your family's negative history or your neglected childhood define you. After peaking in your career as a team mascot you decide to do everything you could to make up for your family's past by upholding the law and loving your family as they were meant to be.
---RULES--
1. The color GREEN must be incorporated as the primary color for either the sim's clothing or furniture
2. REQUIRED TRAITS: Family-Oriented, Squeamish (CANNOT have the following traits: Evil, Noncommittal, Kleptomaniac, Materialistic, Hates Children, Jealous, Snob, or Mean)
3. SPOUSE: Has the same trait restrictions as listed above
4. KIDS: Your first child must be adopted and can only be after you’ve reached level 2 of the detective career (GTW). You can then have as many children as you want, any way you want, once you’ve begun your new career as a Secret Agent. -(BG) First child can be adopted after reaching level 5 of Athletic career.
5. PETS: Only one pet is allowed
6. CAREER: Join the Athletic career until level three. Then join the Detective profession (GTW) until at least level 3. Finally, join the Secret Agent career, Diamond Agent path, and reach level 10. -(BG) Remain in Athletic career until level 6, then proceed to Secret Agent as normal
7. SKILLS: Logic, Fitness, and Charisma must be maxed out
8. ASPIRATION: Renaissance Sim, must complete

Chinese Zodiac Legacy Challenge
Thanks to the idea from an anon on tumblr, I’ve decided to make a second version of my zodiac challenge that focuses on the Chinese Zodiacs.
For those who don’t know, the Chinese Zodiacs are representative of an entire year, not a month. So, for example, I was born in 1997 and I am born in the year of the Ox. Twelve years in the future (2009) was the next year of the Ox. The zodiacs are similar in the way that they each have certain personalities and whatnot, but unlike the Western Zodiac, the Chinese Zodiac uses animals to represent each of the twelve main personalities, rather than planets.
As far as I’m aware, I don’t think this challenge has been made, and I’m thankful for the anon’s suggestion to make this! The original was really fun to make, and I hope that everyone enjoys this challenge as well. This is also going to be a 12-generation legacy, with each generation representing one of the different Chinese Zodiacs.
Side note: This legacy is not meant to misrepresent or offend anyone. The generations are being based off of descriptions of the zodiacs from this website. Feel free to read up more about each zodiac to get a better sense of your sim’s personality! I greatly encourage you to research the signs more because they are very interesting.
Starting out:
Feel free to make your founder however you’d like. Traits for each heir will be listed in their section, but their looks are up to you so feel free to get creative! You’ll start out like a traditional legacy on one of the 50x50 lots (or 64x64 if you’d like). Here is a link to Pinstar’s legacy rules.
General Challenge Rules:
No money cheats
Mods such as MC Command Center is allowed (and encouraged) but not necessary
No mods that give you a clear advantage over people who don’t use it
CC is allowed
Although you have to start out on a 50x50 lot, you will be moving in certain generations.
If you don’t complete one of the goals for the generation, you lose the challenge.
Honestly this is the only way to fail the challenge, other than not producing an heir.
Generation One: Rat
“With strong intuition and quick response, those born in the year of the Rat always easily adapt themselves to a new environment. With rich imaginations and sharp observation, Rats can take advantage of various opportunities well. Rats have strong curiosity, so they tend to try their hands at anything, and they can deal with it skillfully. A lack of courage, as well as good command skills, Rats are not capable as leaders. Opportunistic and picky as Rats are, they do not have broad minds, but a narrow view. Rats are kind, but sometimes impolite to others. People of the Rat zodiac sign usually sleep late, for mice are nocturnal animals.”
You can say you’ve never really been the time of person to commit yourself to a certain thing. Whether it be a romance, a job, a hobby, whatever; point is, you get bogged down if you’re forced into doing the same thing too often. You are intelligent and talented, but you bore easily and like to learn and experience many things at once, despite how overwhelmed you get. You can be kind of insensitive sometimes and can come across as rude or that you think you are better than others, but in all reality you are a bit of a coward and are just shy and prefer to avoid confrontation. You’ve always wanted a family, but can you handle it?
Traits: Noncommittal, Genius, Loner Aspiration: Renaissance Sim Career: Due to your aspiration, you’ll be changing your job a lot, so you can pick.
Goals:
Complete your aspiration
Max four skills of your choice
Don’t get married, have at least two children with different partners.
Date around a lot, go on at least one date a week. Each date can be with the same person or different people, up to you!
Feel free to have a hobby that can make money (painting, writing, gardening); you won’t be making much money at the beginning of this generation due to needed to job hop
Generation Two: Ox
“Oxes are known for diligence, dependability, strength and determination. Having an honest nature, Oxes have a strong patriotism for their country, have ideals and ambitions for life, and attach importance to family and work. Having a desire to advance and great patience, Oxes can achieve their goals by consistent efforts. They are not influenced by others or the environment, but persist to do things in accordance with their ideas and capabilities. Before taking action, they will have a definite plan with detailed steps and add their strong faith and physical strength. So people of the Ox zodiac sign enjoy great success as a result. The most disadvantageous trait in Oxes is poor communication skills. They are not good at communicating with others, and even think it not worthwhile exchanging ideas with others. They are stubborn and stick to their own ways.”
Stubborn, persistent, overbearing. Many of your classmates would have described you that way, but you personally like the words ambitious, overachieving, and powerful to use for yourself. You can be a bit of a know it all and tend to stick to your beliefs, even when they’ve been proven wrong. However, you have grown to learn how to convince others to believe what you say (even bordering on manipulation at times). Outside of convincing people of things, however, you loathe conversing with others and would much rather spend time doing the things you enjoy, which includes working hard at your career. You grew up in a family that didn’t have the greatest time with careers, as your single parent had several careers throughout your childhood. You don’t want that. You want better for your children; to have enough money to see them succeed. But although you do truly love your children, you don’t get attached to others easily and they are no exception. You want them to succeed and do well, but you aren’t there for them when they need you because you are working. How will this affect the white picket fence family that you wanted?
Traits: Ambitious, Self-Assured, Loner Aspiration: Successful Lineage Career: Critic
Goals:
Complete your aspiration
Max your career (either branch)
Max the Logic skill and one creative skill (painting, cooking, guitar, whatever you’d like)
Get married at a young age to your high school sweetheart. Start having kids immediately, four in total. You don’t get along with your spouse and fight a lot, but you’re not allowed to divorce them. It would ruin your white picket fence fever dream.
Never become more than “friends” with your children (i.e. good or best friends).
Make your children do their homework every night and all school projects; children must have A’s in school before they can age up to teen.
Teens must have a job and at least a B grade in school before they can age up to YA.
Become good friends with all of your grandchildren.
Generation Three: Tiger
“People born in the year of the Tiger are brave, competitive, unpredictable, and self-confident. They are very charming and well-liked by others. But sometimes they are likely to be impetuous, irritable, and overindulged. With stubborn personalities and tough judgment, tigers work actively and boldly express themselves, and do things with a high-handed manner. They are authoritative and never go back on what they have said. With great confidence and indomitable fortitude, they can be competent leaders. They will not make preparations for anything, but they can handle anything that comes along.”
Even though you don’t want to admit it, you grew up a lot like your parent. You’re stubborn and confident as well, but you tend to want to work with others and crave social interaction. You want to be the best, but not in the same way as your parents; you want to have it all: a good career, a loving spouse and children, and a great social life. You enjoy get togethers and parties, and you are very popular amongst your coworkers and friends. Some would even say you were the leader of the pack.
Traits: Outgoing, Self-Assured, Hot-headed Aspiration: Party Animal Career: Detective. Once you reach level five of the career, quit your job and become a politician.
Goals:
Complete your aspiration
Max the Politician Career
Have at least a silver medal on each kind of party
Get married, have a kid, then get remarried and have more kids (number is up to you.)
Have 1 BFF and three Good Friends
Be the leader of a club with eight sims and buy all of the Clothing and Decor perks, display them around your house
Generation Four: Rabbit
“Rabbits tend to be gentle, quiet, elegant, and alert; quick, skillful, kind, and patient; and particularly responsible. However, they might be superficial, stubborn, melancholy, and overly-discreet. Generally speaking, people who belong to the Rabbit zodiac sign have likable characters. When meeting trouble, Rabbits can handle it in an orderly way; when encountering tough difficulties they are never discouraged, but are persistent to seek solutions. So they eventually achieve enviable success. Rabbits are faithful to those around them, but reluctant to reveal their minds to others, and have a tendency to escape reality. They are too cautious and conservative, which means they miss good opportunities.”
If there was ballet, you would have done ballet since you were a child. You are graceful and calm, but you have your moments where your insecurities take over you and you can become a bit gloomy. You love the arts and are more of a homebody than your parent, and love spending hours reading and writing stories and poetry. You are generally a positive person and enjoy having a small group of friends that you can go get coffee with and discuss books, rather than attending parties. You can be a bit skittish, though, and you like the finer things in life. There’s a side of you that you hide from the people you know, however; you may just not be as sweet and innocent as you seem.
Traits: Bookworm, Gloomy, Materialistic Aspiration: Mansion Baron Career: Criminal
Goals:
Complete your aspiration
Max the your career (either branch)
Have two good friends
Marry and have five children with the same spouse
Do not let anyone find out about your career. If they do, you need to get rid of them. Threaten them, erase their memory (if you are an alien), or kill them off. No one can know who you truly are.
Buy something new (worth at least 500 simoleons) every week
Generation Five: Dragon
“Among Chinese zodiac animals, the Dragon is the sole imaginary animal. The Dragon is the most vital and powerful beast in the Chinese zodiac, although with an infamous reputation for being a hothead and possessing a sharp tongue. In ancient times, people thought that Dragons could control everything in the world with their character traits of dominance and ambition. Gifted with innate courage, tenacity and intelligence, dragons are enthusiastic and confident. They are not afraid of challenges, and willing to take risks. However, the dragon is sometimes regarded as aggressive, and angry dragons are not open to criticism. They don't consider themselves irritating and arrogant. Instead of following tradition, they strive for a smooth future.”
Your parent made you sick. Being a criminal and being so materialistic was not how you wanted to be like, so you rebelled at a young age and, as a teen, ran away to start your life anew. The only things you took with you were a few photographs of you and your siblings, and some things of your parent’s that you could sell for cash. You can be a bit reckless and impulsive, and you don’t like thinking things through, tending to follow your gut rather than your brain. You want a big family like what you came from, but you were going to make the money to raise your kids honestly.
Traits: Hot-Headed, Good, Outgoing Aspiration: Big Happy Family Career: Retail Store Owner
Goals:
Complete your aspiration
Max the your career (either branch)
Max Charisma skill
Run away as a teen, starting over. (You don’t have to bring family photos with you, but you do have to bring the Knight of the Octagon Table and other things with you that you can sell. Do not sell the Knight of the Octagon Table.)
Cannot go to school except on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Must do homework every night, however, and remain at least a C grade in school.
Open a retail shop once a YA (can sell whatever you’d like)
Get married halfway through young adulthood to a friend from high school
Have four kids
Have a garden with at least four perfect Dragonfruit plants
Generation Six: Snake
“In Chinese culture, the Snake is the most enigmatic animal among the twelve zodiac animals. People born in a year of the Snake are supposed to be the most intuitive. Snakes tend to act according to their own judgments, even while remaining the most private and reticent. They are determined to accomplish their goals and hate to fail. Snakes represent the symbol of wisdom. They are intelligent and wise. They are good at communication but say little. Snakes are usually regarded as great thinkers. Snakes are materialistic and love keeping up with the Joneses. They love to posses the best of everything, but they have no patience for shopping. Snake people prefer to work alone, therefore they are easily stressed. If they seem unusually stressed, it is best to allow them their own space and time to return to normal.”
You grew up to be a very laid back and easygoing person. You love nature and you know the value of a dollar, which can sometimes lead you to being a bit frugal. You are also a bit of a hoarder and love collecting things, and if someone even brings up getting rid of something, you aren’t too pleased with them. You are seen by many as wise and intelligent, and you definitely are. You are in tune with yourself and the natural world around you. You are very mysterious and a private person however, so while people spill their problems out to you and you help them, you don’t tell anyone about yourself.
Traits: Vegetarian, Materialistic, Loves Outdoors Aspiration: The Curator Career: None
Goals:
Complete your aspiration
Max Wellness skill
Keep all of the plants from the last generation and expand the garden to include at least four perfect orchid plants
Do not hire any services; everything must be done by your sims. (Exception: babies can be sent to daycare while your sims are at work/school or on another lot.)
Complete any collection.
You must be BFFs and know all of your partner’s traits before you can be romantic with them.
Have two kids.
Generation Seven: Horse
“People born in a year of the Horse are extremely animated, active and energetic. Horses love to be in a crowd, and they can usually be seen on such occasions as concerts, theater performances, meetings, sporting events, and parties. With a deft sense of humor, Horses are masters of repartee. They love to take center stage and delight audiences everywhere. Sometimes, the Horse is a little self-centered, but it doesn't mean that s/he can not be interested in others' problems. Horses are really more cunning than intelligent, and that is probably why most Horse people lack real confidence.”
You were that kid in school. You know, the one obsessed with horses. Your favorite toy was a horse, and you carried it around with you everywhere. Eventually you grew out of this horse phase (thank god) but you still loved the roots that the past few generations had of living off the land and running a farm. You are energetic and fun to be around, and you love to joke around and make people laugh. You found out by the time that you were a teenager that the farm life wasn’t for you, and you decided to focus on something that you were good at: bringing joy to other people through witty jokes and karaoke fails. You love seeing others happy, but at what expense?
Traits: Goofball, Gloomy, Active Aspiration: Joke Star Career: Entertainer
Goals:
Complete your aspiration
Max your career (either branch)
Never get married, have a one night stand that results in pregnancy
You can have a live-in datemate, however, but you two can never actually get married
Write in a journal every night
Go jogging for an hour every day
Max comedy and charisma skills
Pass down your favorite horse toy to your only child
Generation Eight: Goat
“People born in a year of the Goat are generally believed to be gentle, mild-mannered, shy, stable, sympathetic, amicable, and brimming with a strong sense of kindheartedness and justice. They have very delicate thoughts, strong creativity, and perseverance, and acquire professional skills well. Although they look gentle on the surface, they are tough on the inside, always insisting on their own opinions in their minds. They have strong inner resilience and excellent defensive instincts. Though they prefer to be in groups, they do not want to be the center of attention. They are reserved and quiet, most likely because they like spending much time in their thoughts. Goats like to spend money on fashionable things that give them a first class appearance. Although goats enjoy spending money on the finer things in life, they are not snobbish.”

MEA liveblog #6
Spoilers!
Kadara
Alright, let's hope this virus sample is as harmless as SAM said... Why doesn't this scene have an interrupt? Why does Andromeda have so few?
Oh, right, there's still a quest with Reyes and Drack's story about Spender
I think I should also try the monolith again. Regardless of politics, activating the vaults for Ryder is like closing rifts for the Inquisitor.
Thank you internet for telling me how to activate the southernmost monolith! There's a cave entrance at the base of the mountain, on the road to the east of the monolith and north-east of the forward station.
Ugh, navigating this vault and trying not to die took a long time...
Why do I get flirt options with Reyes in 90% of dialogue wheels?
Okay, I finally crafted something. Chest and legs for armor. Iitiative V. Together they give +11% XP instead of +15 I had on the pre-order set, but I could put lots of bonuses onto them. Used "25% shields on kill" as enhancement and "+50% recharge speed, -30% weapon damage" as a mod.
Yikes! It looks so ugly! Here I thought Deep Space looked mediocre compared to Scavenger, but this...
My adept profile is now rank 4!
Zia's voice sounds terribly familiar.
I literally met murderers disposing of a body, why can't I interact with them?
Two Hydras, more like "run around the entire time". Ugh, why are biotics in this game so weak against armor? And where's the fall damage? The entire point of biotics is killing enemies with physics! Why does a combo, on normal difficulty, not kill a mook, but throw him somewhere I can't see him with a sliver of health so he continues to shoot at me? This is ridiculous!
Me: Ugh I don't wanna do Kadara Also me: *does every single sidequest in the Badlands, raises viability to 70%*
Tempest
Peebee: idk why I wanted to write to you -- Aww :D
Yay, finally I can make my inventory bigger!
"I like it when you flirt" is still an option smh. Clicked it because I think someone mentioned that the zero-g scene is repeatable, but nope.
Alright, time to finally move on to the loyalty missions!
Cora's LM
Convenient when you can reuse an entire map huh :D
TBH most of the things people are saying are flying right past me. I'm just following the quest markers. So, is the arc pretty much empty now?
Asari sword V!!! Something I wanted to craft or find a long time ago.
This ascendant wasn't even dangerous. Just a boring bullet sponge. I need to get more weight capacity so I could always carry a sniper rifle just for those guys...
I'm a biotic too!!! I walked through this entire mission as an adept! Why am I not helping with the shield?
Revealed the truth, then said Sarissa should stay as the Pathfinder. Not a difficult decision.
Tempest
"Outcast HQ" sounds ridiculous...
Meanwhile, my Bronze/Silver strike team has five positive traits and no negatives...
Nexus
Good thing I went here before moving on to Vetra's mission! There's a follow-up scene. And apparently, there were a lot of asari still in cryo?
Is this the guy who already sent me a grateful email? This game really fails at continuity sometimes.
Fuck! Jien Garson "died alone"?! All this time I was suspicious about her absence, but people talked about her death so confidently I was sure there were witnesses!
lmao a burned body in an unexpected place. suuuuure
Oh, so she is dead :(
Okay, this is simpler than I thought. The Initiative was about escaping the Reapers. And I thought they were looking for something in Andromeda...
If there's really nothing more to it -- I'd actually be disappointed. The game just continues to subvert its own most ridiculous statements. Pretty much everyone assumed that building something called Arcs and moving to another galaxy right before the Reaper invasion is an attempt to preserve people and culture. The game insisted that wasn't the case, except of course it is. There were only two new races, suspiciously alike -- are they related? Nobody even mentioned the possibility in the game until it was confirmed. On the one hand, it's a relief that the game doesn't believe its own bullshit. On the other, I'd like not to be treated like an idiot. I'd like a story with a premise that makes sense by itself, and with reveals that are genuinely surprising. What's next on the list of predictable "plot twists"? Is Alec alive? Is Reyes the Charlatan?
Tempest
What, I got a bunch of AVP just for promising to do Drack's mission?
Fuck yeah vanadium
H-047c
When you land, the subtitles just disappear...
I almost fell off a cliff and Liam shouted "Ryder!!" in a very startled voice
Whoa, a Reegar!
Took the interrupt, of course.
After Liam's mission, the other two seemed bland...
Havarl
Thanks to the internet, finally found the Fusion Mod of Adrenaline. How can anyone find that by themselves?!
Archon's ship
I'm tired of messing around, let's get on with the plot
Let me guess, I'll have to choose between the map to the Meridian and the salarian arc's survival?
This Pathfinder actually sounds like a Salarian!
A new carfalon, nice
this fight didn't go well lmao
Oh great, now we wiped everything but the ascendant and then he killed me
Ughh, on the third try...
Poor Ryder
Yeah, yeah, we've already heard all that from Harbinger...
Archon's chamber, health and ammo packs... Annoying boss battle, here we go
oh great, it's the Krogett
ah, so it's a mix of Virmire and Priority: Tuchanka
Ouch, I wish I didn't take Drack on this mission...
Well thanks I feel like a monster now
And of course, the autosave is after the choice. I've long suspected that the lack of saving in priority mission is designed to make us live with our decisions...
Honestly when I was making a choice it seemed simply whether a bunch of krogan or salarians are saved from exaltation, the krogan are connected to your friend but the salarians have a Pathfinder. But then the game seems to present it as "many krogans, your friend's friends, vs one Pathfinder"?
So, where to now? After the Nexus.
I have 3 loyalty missions in progress, Peebee, Jaal and Drack, and the last one seems pretty urgent.
I need to go to Elaaden, especially because after this I need to restore my relationship with the krogan.
I need to activate the vault on Voeld, people in my outpost and my angaran allies has been freezing their limbs of for a long time.
Kadara is the only place where nothing important is happening, but I need to get it to 90% asap to unlock the fusion mod perk.
Tempest
Poured some more points into combat to decrease the weight of sniper rifles, and crafted a Vintage Isharay V. Now I can carry it along with the Hornet and a shotgun of my choice. Some power user I am... :D
No, Gil, I don't really want to meet your friend. Though on second thought, maybe if the Pathfinder tells her we're not here just to breed, maybe she'd believe...
"My mother created the implant in my head, and my father created the AI that uses it. I haven't lost them either" ;_;
Suvi organized a comparative religion seminar, and Jaal and Kallo signed up!
Got myself a bald space mouse
"Okay, I'll learn a new party trick" :D
"You are daring. I had to up my game" It's just a casual option, but sure sounds like flirting... :D
"Just don't get yourself exalted" -> "Just don't relax too much" The translation is getting worse and worse... There's some nonsense in almost every conversation.
Aw, Vetra!
Nexus
Thanks, Tann! Now I have time to do sidequests and loyalty missions without guilt!
No thanks to other Pathfinders, seems like I have to rush the main plot after all :(
Scott!!!
Why is Ryder asking him about things she must know just as well?
Honestly, this game design is super stupid! Kadara opens up a lot of new quests, but also the rushes the main plot like hell! Am I supposed to do the loyalty missions and shit after the end of the story??
Wait, how exactly did Keri scare people? Why was she arrested? I don't understand.
Tempest
Aw, Liam is worried about how I'm coping with my clinical death! *Shepard sighs with envy from another galaxy*
Kadara
Why does the game shower me with shippy Reyes material even when I'm not trying to romance him?
Finally another interrupt lol
"Try to settle here, and I'll consider it an act of war" If I took the story seriously and roleplayed honestly, this would be the point I'd abandon this planet forever, even if I didn't do it far earlier. There's no reason for Ryder to plan for an outpost here -- and I only do because of the queat description. Ughh, the writing in this game is killing me.
How do you take a recipe anyway? How do you make sure there isn't a copy left on the person's computer? Anyway, took it from the asari because I assumed I could destroy the info instead of giving it to the doctor, but had to give it back anyway.
Whoa, the date with Vetra is incredibly romantic
Was it really necessary for two freaking eirochs to greet us as we exit the cave?!
People who lit Sloane from behind so that every time there's a closeup on her, the camera adjusts to that bright light and her face becomes a pitch black blob: please don't ever stage anything again
Travel from the Badlands to the Port, meet Sloane, immediately travel back to almost the same place in the Badlands. Is the game intentionally trying to waste as much of our time as possible?
I think my game ran out of save slots... Without any warning. When you try to write in a new slot everything seems normal but the save just doesn't appear.
Whoa! Ryder WASN'T surprised that Reyes is the Charlatan! I didn't expect her to figure that out...
I'm not sure how Reyes's actions were supposed to weaken Sloane but whatever
First I shot him because I use interrupts instinctively, then replayed and didn't. I don't give enough fucks about this petty war.
100%! Now I can finally leave this snake pit.
BTW, re: the choice: Sloane is almost as bad as Aria at this point, the only redeeming quality is her backstory. And she's proven herself a bad leader, while Reyes could turn out to be better. But deciding to let her die within a split second -- that's not something I or my idealistic character could do. And now Reyes has a potential for a cool comeback story, and Sloane -- for a redemption arc. We have both characters alive and active, while the other option kills one off. (Which, I realize, is a reason that we might never see an interesting follow-up.)
Tempest
Reyes bothered to send a letter! I hope we'll see his dramatic return in a sequel or a DLC. Imagine if you romance him and then save Sloane -- that's a good story! Also, glad I didn't shoot, because the internet says the letter is very bitter and ominous in that case.
Aaand what some people on the internet were saying is true. Fusion Mod Support, which was the sole reason I went to complete Kadara, is broken and deprives you of all buffs. Well, whatever.
Drack doesn't tell me to fuck off anymore. Does this mean I don't need to "give him space" anymore and can plausibly do his loyalty mission? It's weird that the game just ignores all that's happened -- it's not like he tells me he forgave or anything. Consequences my ass. Just lazy writing.
And Lexi just repeats her first description of Drack -- that he's "always good". Ugh. No, he's not!
NOW you want to talk about my death, Cora! Not when I approached you after that mission!
Elaaden
The krogan have a nice flag!
Logical: "Don't make me headbutt you. I absolutely will" Ha! The emotional option was some shit about friendship...
The worm? That thing from the promo pictures, right? Is it the same thing as the Architects people on the internet are mentioning?
Aww, is this a letter from multiplayer's krogan engineer?
A krogan LARP!
The krogan are literally the only people whom I can understand and support in a decision to jump galaxies
Drack's LM
I don't understand how Vorn got here...
For once I'm not the one with a dilemma lol
"There's only one thing getting destroyed today (...) So there are a lot of things getting destroyed today, actually"
Drack please don't talk during fights, I don't hear a single word, too busy charging people and slashing them with my sword
I still don't understand what all of this has to do with Spender, and don't remember Drack ever mentioning before that the botanist is so important and irreplaceable.
I love being a vanguard on normal because even with an incomplete build you can tank two hydras. To be fair I was standing right on top of a health box...
That's all?? So short...
At least Drack hasn't forgotten my choice...
Ah, so the botanist who sent us on this mission and the botanist we rescued are two different people? Okay, one question answered.
Elaaden
Hmm, this puzzle seems more difficult...
The second monolith has a console puzzle instead of sudoku. I spent a pretty long time on it before realizing there were three consoles, not two...
WHy am I breaking into this base and slaughtering everyone inside??
Couldn't solve the console puzzle in the vault, looked it up, didn't understand the explanation, clicked some more and activated it by accident.
Shit, is this the same puzzle but on pillars?
I fell into the water and the game respawned me into the same fall -- but in the Nomad.
Jumped around and activated the bridge somehow, but the door behind it is still closed
How am I supposed not to fall from the pillars? It's impossible to know if you're jumping not far enough, too far, or not high enough.
Oh, here's that difficult sudoku. I spent like 15 minutes on it and still can't solve it...
Holy crap, I solved it! Took me about 25 minutes...
The purification field was already in the room when I closed the door on it...
Lmao apparently the main krogan on this planet is right in the starting zone... I searched the entire colony for him! And now, with the planet at 83% viability, I finally meet the guy I came here for :D
I clearly was meant to do all of this right in the beginning lmao. But I was in a rush to do Drack's mission...
Pressuring women into childbirth is bad enough in normal circumstances, but when children have about 1% chance of surviving? Back the fuck off.
Messages on the terminal are interesting. I don't like the confirmation of too-earthlike misogyny on Tuchanka, but at least things are getting better here. And I'm still impressed by the letters from the krogan engineer -- do other multiplayer character have presence in the main game too?
And here's the deal with the Remnant ship! I was waiting for the reason to visit it...
I like Morda. I hope I won't have to fight or depose her.
(Btw she's Norda in translation because "morda" means "face, mug")
It'd be much more fun to fight fiends if they weren't sync-killers. I can't even use a shotgun -- the entire fight consists of running away, throwing powers at them when at safe distance, turning around to run again, and if I'm very lucky, finding a moment for a sniper rifle shot a couple of times.
Btw this entire time I thought fiends were exalted eirochs -- but they're just a normal local species? What?
Lmao the viability is at 99% now
The Remnant Ship is a lovechild of the Collector ship/Derelict Reaper and all those veilfire dungeons from DAI
The Nomad looks bad in this planet's lighting... Or is it because I raised texture quality? On Eos and Voeld the entire hull looked the same, now I can see the difference between two areas.
Oh. Is this why I was supposed to break into the scavenger base lol
Well, this was a good planet to bring Drack and Peebee with you everywhere! Sorry Peebs, but even you didn't feel joy when we finally found that drive core after all the bloodshed; plus it's your own philisophy to look into the future instead of the past; plus we might find other Remnant ships but this diplomatic opportunity is huge and unique. It's a laughably small price to pay for so many good things -- not just the outpost, but paying our debts and renewing friendship with a good ally led by an admirable woman. This makes me feel really good, unlike Kadara. New Tuchanka in generally is a feel-good place. The krogan look more real with their occupations and interests, their reason for being here makes perfect sense unlike the rest of the Initiative, and they're happier than in the Milky Way (at least until the end of ME3. Yeah, they have the genophage here, but also the Reapers aren't killing and harvesting them, so I'll call it a draw).
Oh my god, the translators misread "fiends" as "friends"! "Even if it means taking out three friends at once"! L M A O
"We're all a little krogan in here" That sounds pretty racist, Ryder
Nexus
Wait, how is exile harsher sentence for Spender than jail? In exile he'd just be free to continue his racist criminal activities.
"It is the will to continue living" Ugh, don't give me that Padme bullshit
Eos
That's all? This short rude conversation is why Gil called me to meet his shitty friend?
Aw, Cora started a garden! Right on a nest of poison-spitting bugs, but still cute.
Just as I switch from Flamethrower to Annihilation, I get attacked by two fiends -_- Where's my biotic armor damage, Bioware?!
Btw the Nomad now looks plastic on Eos too :(
And here's the Architect! I avoided looking up videos because I wanted to find out how this fight goes by myself.
And of course, when I died the autosave was glitched and froze my entire game -_-
And it happened again -_- The cutscene doesn't start and I can't do anything
For fuck's sake, on its leg WHERE?
Managed to shot down a leg, got killed trying to shoot its head
Whoa, I won! Ate like 20 shield boosters, though. What a bullet sponge, I felt like I was doing no damage at all. And in the final section of the fight it spent like 5 minutes just shooting and throwing grenades at me without ever exposing the vulnerable spot, I thought that maybe the game just forgot to indicate it. I used Vanguard, Charge/melee/Lance for adds, gun/Lance/Charge for the Architect itself. For some reason it didn't occur to me to switch to Infiltrator or Soldier or even Explorer for sniping lol
Now that I finally leveled up Lance today, I tried a lot of setups... Flamethrower/Energy Drain/Lance (Sentinel), Annihilation/Energy Drain/Lance (Sentinel), Annihilation/Charge/Lance (Vanguard), Pull/Charge/Lance (Vanguard). Next time I'll try Singularity as the first primer. I don't have the final evolution of Annihilation yet, so it's not at full synergy. I really don't know what I like better -- ED/Sentinel or Charge/Vanguard. The latter is novaguard reborn, basically, but I already have one Vanguard profile, which is melee/tank oriented, and I don't want to remove Backlash, especially to replace it with a power that slows down Charge. Four favorites are not enough, Bioware! At least seven -- one for each profile. I still don't have a build for Remnant VI and I really want to use it! Btw, my final blow to the Architect was with Lance -- ending the testing session with style!
I can craft N7 armor X already! Wow. Why no level requirement? I'll replace my chestpiece -- massive buffs to biotics >> 4% XP. Don't know if I should disassemble my old armor or just buy more enhancements...
I just (re-)realized that Charge/Lance/asari sword is basically N7 Slayer... I definitely need that N7 armor!
I'm watching other people's Architect fights -- and turns out, Backlash can deflect its attacks! That's what I should have used as the third skill.
Not related at all, but I hate how people put spoilers in thread titles on Reddit :/ I guess the most obvious ones get filtered out, but indirect spoilers stay. "What are your theories about [thing]?" -- thanks a lot for telling me it won't be explained in the game, dude!! >:[
