Decided to upload more Danny Phantom content! This time it’s just sketches though. I might add color to the others, but for now I kinda just like them as sketches. Also is it just me, or did Jack and Maddie kind of turn out Ghibli-esque? I had a real fun time drawing everyone’s hair, especially Vlad, Sam, and Maddie’s.

Also I wanna thank y’all so much for the comments you left in the tags on my Danny and Vlad arts! They all mean so much to me and really motivate me to keep drawing. I really appreciate it!

Regarding Ecto-Acne...

I was going through some of my likes on tumblr and I can’t remember which Danny Phantom related post got me thinking about this, but it suddenly hit me just what this line from the show implies from the episode “Masters of All Time”...

Maddie: We have an outbreak of ecto-acne. And there's only one place on Earth that knows how to treat ecto-acne.

Think about that for a sec. Vlad was in the hospital for YEARS, and while we don’t know exactly how many years or what treatments he was given one thing I always wondered is why Jack and Maddie never tried to visit him once in all that time before their college reunion if they were really his friends. I talked about it a briefly on my discord once before about how Vlad was probably kept in isolation due to the seemingly radioactive nature of his condition since he’s also patient zero as far as Ecto-Acne is concerned because up until that point no one had had it before (that we know of.) So by the time Vlad was probably allowed to have visitors he had already developed that huge grudge against Jack for ‘ruining his life’ and assumed his best friend had abandoned him and stolen Maddie too...

However, because of this particular line of dialogue Maddie says in “Masters of All Time” I just suddenly got this feeling that she and Jack buried themselves in their ghost research at first specifically to HELP Vlad. To put it simply, after the accident with the proto-portal, Jack and Maddie began SEARCHING FOR A WAY TO CURE VLAD OF HIS ECTO-ACNE THE WHOLE TIME!

@muku-gc drew this precious Good Vlad pouty face too to go along with some ideas we came up with @ghost-pasta on the Danny Phantom artist server we’re on and like the other one I just love it so much! Here are some funny little snippets they came up with for the trouble my au Vlad gets into around Danny since he’s only used to hiding his powers from the rest of the world, not at home in his personal life. I’m going to share the other one they did too since it goes along with the first idea! Also I get some of these might not make much sense out of context but don’t worry, I’m putting together a Good Vlad AU outline to help put aspects of his au story together! Oh and whenever Vlad pouts, just imagine the drawing above!

@muku-gc​ drew a sketch of my good Vlad’s reaction to meeting Danny during Bitter Reunions on the Danny Phantom artist discord and I’m so happy right now you don’t even know! This is a version of Vlad I designed based on how he looked right after the accident. In this au he reconciled with Jack much sooner and only deeply admires Maddie so he’s not creepily obsessed with her...

So after clearing up a misunderstanding that I can imagine went a lot like this where Danny tries to fight him the night before the reunion, as soon as Vlad discovers Danny’s a halfa too I bet he's ecstatic about the idea of possibly helping someone who’s just like him, especially since it’s Jack’s son and he’s been waiting for a chance to reconnect with his old college friend which is why he offered to host the reunion in his castle. Although first I suppose Vlad had to worry about carrying Danny back to his room after accidentally knocking out during their fight since Danny most likely thought Vlad was out to get him like every other ghost so far and wouldn’t listen to reason being the stubborn kid he can be. So Vlad had no choice but to defend himself and well, you can imagine the rest.

As for Vlad’s past, just like Danny he’s kept his powers a secret too over the years but planned to tell Jack and Maddie the truth during the reunion as soon as they’re alone since it’s the first time he’s seen them since then for one reason or another and he was afraid to before. But then, after meeting Danny Vlad changes his mind since their own son doesn’t feel comfortable enough to tell his parents the truth about himself and if Vlad revealed his secret it would expose them both. So instead Vlad just offers to help Danny and that’s how Danny not only gets a mentor after all, but Vlad gets to be a part of his life as a friend of the family and doesn’t have to feel alone anymore either so it’s a win win!

1. first things first, did you have a good year?

this one is honestly kind of difficult to answer. i had a weird year: i finished school in february and have spent the rest of the year living at home and trying to get a job. i kept getting a job, but then it would fizzle after a few months so i’d have to start over. i did a lot of puttering around the house this year – and a lot of writing. in terms of my anxiety, this has been the best year of my life. in terms of everything else … it feels like this is a transition year. or a stand-in year until i can get the rest of my life together. 

10. what song sums up this year for you?

oof what a question. i can’t go by lyrics or what the song is about to sum up my year, but in terms of the emotion of the song, i think maybe “green light” by lorde for the sheer emotional overwroughtness of it (i Felt A Lot Of Things this year) or maybe “villians pt II” by emma blackery for the naked self-blame and hatred becayse i also did that a lot this year. and maybe also “the things i say” by joanna newsom for its quiet nostalgia and vague sadness and also because joanna was so important to me this year it feels wrong not to pick a song by her.

idk though, honestly it’s really hard to choose. 

13. did an actor / actress catch your attention for the first time this year?

i’m gonna answer this question with media creators (actors, musicians, youtubers, etc.) in general because i spent a lot of time this year discovering new super cool and talented people. here’re the first few that come to mind:

king princess, amy adams, dar williams, danny gonzalez, drew gooden, jenny nicholson, cristin militoli, lindsay ellis, letitia wright, margot robbie, amandla stenberg, idk so many more?? this is all from the top of my head and i know i’m late to the party with a ton of them lol whoops

(also just for fun, some movies, tv shows, albums, and miscellaneous shit i loved this year in no particular order: everything by joanna newsom, mortal city and the honesty room by dar williams, wynonna earp, i rewatched buffy and it was great as always, i’m currently rewatching veronica and it’s also awesome as always, one day at a time, arrival, loving vincent, @marshmallow-the-vampire-slayer ‘s recaps (i went through and reread all the buffy ones they were amazing oh my god), buzzfeed unsolved, i tonya, make my bed by king princess, venice bitch by lana del rey, one day at a time, b99, parks and rec, the office, celeste and jessee forever, to all the boys i’ve loved before, set it up, disobedience, expectations by hayler kiyoko, all our wrong todays by elan mastai, boys for pele by tori amos, @kleineleopardin ‘s blog in general, new girl, jenna marbles, @honeyy-honeyy ‘s cat content, and now my laptops about to die i have to stop listing people rip)   

34. did you have to cut ties with someone this year?

nope not in the slightest. i actually made a ton of friends this year! (i’m talking about u @honeyy-honeyy love u) 

45. did your opinion of anyone change for the worse?

none that i can think of, honestly. maybe a few celebrities but i can’t think of any names right now

47. if you make any resolutions, what will your resolutions be for the coming year?

i really really want to spend less time on my phone on social media. i want to be able to spend more time in just my head without the whole world’s thoughts and ideas and opinions and tragedies and scandals constantly tumbling around in there. i want to have more room in my brain for words because i really want to keep working on my writing. 

i mean in a perfect world, i really want to fall in love but that’s not the sort of thing you can resolve to do.
