favourite colour: all of them? if i had to choose, probably that lush shade of green the world turns after a summer rain

last song: hunger by florence + the machine

last movie: the ballad of little joe. it was good but a bit of a disservice to the real little joe imo

last tv show: brooklyn nine-nine. i started rewatching it for the first time in years and i'm having a great time

sweet, spicy, or savoury: honestly probably savoury? but i've been getting through my last semester of uni by buying cheap (non american as possible) chocolate so i guess sweet is up there too

relationship status: painfully single

last google search: "brakhage anticipation of the night" for a paper

current obsession: bright future by adrianne lenker! the hopeful melancholy is the perfect vibe for the current place i'm in

looking forward to: the new samia record, the new ophelias record, getting around to listening to the new japanese breakfast record, the leaves to come out, but most importantly: FINISHING UNIVERSITY!!!!

Crossing the Boardwalk on a Good Day

I wake up sweating; the window is open; a cold westerly wind rushes in and in and in and in— I thought I could see beyond the horizon, but it was just an illusion of the curve.

If I love you, what have I done for it? There is no such thing as forward, and there is no such thing as back. You laugh with a muddy grin, and I sleep through it as though moments are eternal. I said moments are eternal— with a billowing chest and an infant eye, I used to know how to hold the sky.

And the crocuses in my garden peer up from last year’s leaves— you were a given until spring came riding in like a pleasant reaper, like any other. If I kiss you softly and call you mine, will you keep me? Crossing the boardwalk on a good day. The cormorant and the sycamore on a good day.

You know I’m too sincere for my own good— tap me, honey, and I bleed sugar. I bought chocolate just to break a twenty and give some to the kid playing his guitar by the liquor store. The bells and the tulip sprouts, the early spring clouds, and the rain turns to snow turns to light turns to rain—

I love you. I’m southbound. You remain sprawling concrete among the fields where the century houses stood, half-broken and tall. The old willow at the bus stop stoops, half-dead, and I watch as it blooms every goddamn spring. The ghosts are tapping at my walls—
