I've seen a lot of the OSC unanimously say that Mil has sent death threats to the II crew which I believe is true considering their overwhelmingly negative behavior and opinions towards most people who like ii/the crew themselves. I wanna of course start by saying that (as obvious as it should be) DEATH THREATS ARE NEVER OKAY! In some places in the world, even online they can be ILLEGAL!!! Its never okay to tell someone that you are gonna kill them, or that they should kill themselves, no matter how bad you think their YouTube show is, or how true you think your preconceived notions about peoples life or political stances are, death threats of any sort? NEVER OKAY! The fact that they went out of their way and spent that time (and most of their time) blatantly hating on this thing that was never about or for them is really disgusting.

I never will say that I don't think its okay to have negative opinions or state said opinions, but from what I can see from this entire blog, its more than that. Its more than sharing criticism, its spreading hate about something a lot of people hold dear to them for no other reason then the fact that you hold hate in your heart

colin (who is like five years older than me) was very mad at me for having a screenshot of a post he made about me [with url removed] on top of my blog

i was concerned for his mental health (because i told him to stop looking at my blog since he said it triggered him and he said he could't) so i sent a signed ask to nana (because he had replied to one of colin's posts). i didn't know he had me blocked, because of how sideblogs work

i screenshotted nana's posts because, again, he was addressing me by name. i removed the URL. he sent me off-anon asks, to which i replied, let's be honest, with a lot of restraint (considering people were going about triggering my OCD and threatening violence against me). in retrospect, i should have answered the asks privately. i admit answering the asks was a mistake.

i did not ask evie/treat to make that account or do anything she did. you can reference my response to her "confession" post. she admitted to pretending to be my friend to gather information about me.

the reason i asked octo to keep the document private was due to having my URLs visible in the document. it was modified and then i told her she could release it if it became necessary.

A year ago a transwoman I know was banned from Tumblr after she kept following up on the removal of one of her side-blogs. This harassment against transwomen has existed for quite some time.

Okay. I am going to offer some heartfelt advice. This is what I would be doing to Tumblr if I somehow won Powerball and bought Tumblr.

#1. Expand the number of reasons for Reporting a post. Include reasons such as transphobia, racism, anti-LGBTQ sentiments, antisemitism, online bullying.

#2. Set up teams of three mods of the same minority to investigate the report. That means three Jewish people would look into antisemitic posts, three LGBTQ+ people would investigate anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, three black people would investigate racist content.

#3. Set up a punishment for habitual false reports. So if someone keeps flagging posts against LGBTQ+ people, they get a time-out of 24 hours, and also are blocked from viewing the content of the person they reported. Honestly, it should be a Two Strike situation.

#4. Set up a Reward System for successful reports of Porn Bots. Give us a free Crab that we can put in a post. These damn Porn Bots are a far greater threat to the financial viability to this website than all of the transwomen in the world, and your boss should realize that rather than harass transwomen for the crime of existing. Seriously. He wants this site to be financially viable? Then HE SHOULD BE PUTTING SIGNIFICANT EFFORT INTO ELIMINATING PORN BOTS AND THEIR ILK. I am reporting 3+ bots that label themselves Critical Role, Life is Strange, Nature, Science, and more every single day, just about. I also have these Bots showing up and Following me frequently. This is not a nuisance. This is a financial threat to the viability of the website. The Porn Bots are the true enemy of your owner, even if he doesn't acknowledge it.

#4a. Actually remove the Porn Bots.

#5. Post a policy that Tumblr is not and will never sell images found on the site to any AI-iteration site. We do not want our stories or art stolen in training these theft programs. And given that there is the growing trend to protect art using programs that poison the data so that AI cannot effectively use it, so selling the data isn't going to benefit your owner much because the AI programs are going to be fucked over. And if you try to steal stories from us? The legal fees from lawsuits will make any attempt at making money from us will eliminate any financial viability. Do not go this path.

I hope you know, your owner's antics has damaged the financial viability of Tumblr far more than any transwoman has. An increasing number of people are looking into alternatives. This brouhaha has poisoned the site for a number of us, and this Staff post in response is not going to convince anyone that things are going to change.

But if you follow the steps I put forth? It might help with damage control.

For those of you working at Tumblr... I feel bad for you. If Tumblr feels increasingly toxic to us transwomen using Tumblr, I cannot help but wonder how any transwomen and LGBTQ+ people working for Tumblr must privately feel. You take care of yourselves.

We want trans people, and LGBTQ+ people broadly, to feel welcome on Tumblr, in part because we as trans people at Tumblr and Automattic want it to be a space where we ourselves feel included. We want to feel like this is a platform that supports us and fights for our safety. Tumblr is made brighter and more vibrant by your presence, and the LGBTQ+ folks who help run it are fighting all the time for this, for you, internally. 

A few days ago, Matt Mullenweg (the CEO of Automattic, Tumblr’s parent company) responded to a user’s ask about an account suspension in a way that negatively affected Tumblr’s LGBTQ+ community. We believe that Matt's response to this ask and his continued commentary has been unwarranted and harmful. Tumblr staff do not comment on moderation decisions as a matter of policy for a variety of reasons—including the privacy of those involved, and the practicalities of moderating thousands of reports a day. The downside of this policy is that it is very easy for rumors and incorrect information about actions taken by our Trust & Safety team to spread unchecked. Given this, we want to clarify a few different pieces of this situation:

The reality of predstrogen's suspension was not accurately conveyed, and made it seem like we were reaching for opportunities to ban trans feminine people on the platform. This is not the case. The example comment shared in the post linked above does not meet our definition of a realistic threat of violence, and was not the deciding factor in the account suspension.

Matt thereafter failed to recognize the harm to the community as a result of this suspension. Matt does not speak on behalf of the LGBTQ+ people who help run Tumblr or Automattic, and we were not consulted in the construction of a response to these events.

Last year, the "mature" and "sexual themes" community labels were erroneously applied to some users' posts. An outside team of contractors tasked with applying community labels to posts were responsible for this larger trend of mislabeling trans-related content. When our Trust & Safety team discovered this issue (thanks largely to reports from the community), we removed the contracted team’s ability to apply community labels and added more oversight to ensure it does not happen again. In the Staff post about this, LGBTQ+ staff pushed to be more transparent but were overruled by leadership. The termination of a contractor mentioned in the original ask response was for an unrelated incident which was incorrectly attributed to this case. We regret that the mislabeling ever happened, and the negative impact it has had on the trans community on Tumblr. 

Transition timelines are not against our community guidelines, and weren’t a factor considered by the moderation team when discussing suspensions and subsequent appeals. We do not take action against content that is related to transitioning or trans bodies unless it includes violations of the Community Guidelines.

When it comes to the experience of trans folks on Tumblr encountering transphobic content, and interacting with bigoted users, we understand and share your frustrations. Tumblr’s policies, and Automattic’s policies, are written to ensure freedom of speech and expression. We prohibit harassment as defined in our Community Guidelines, but we know that this policy falls short of protecting users from the wider scope of harmful speech often used against LGBTQ+ and other marginalized people.

Going forward, Tumblr is taking the following actions:

Prioritizing anti-harassment features that will empower users to more effectively protect themselves from harassment.

Building more internal tooling for us as Staff to proactively identify and mitigate instances of harassment.

Reviewing which of the tags frequently used by the trans community are blocked, and working to make them available next week.

We’re sorry for how this all transpired, and we’re actively fighting to make our voices heard more and prevent something like this from happening again in the future. We know firsthand that having to deal with situations like this as a Tumblr user is difficult, particularly as a member of an already frequently targeted and harassed community. We know it will take time to regain your trust, and we’re going to put in the work to rebuild it.

We appreciate the space we have been given to express our concerns and dissent, and we are thankful that Matt’s (and Automattic’s) strong commitment to freedom of expression has facilitated it.

I've been thinking a lot since first finding out about the MidJourney deal Tumblr is taking. I've been wanting to make this post for just as long. (This sounds ominous, but it's not.) (Cut for a giant wall of text. Massive rambling.)

I don't know what to do. I've made an infinite number of new accounts across all the different social media I can find. I had to make a sheet to keep track of all the different websites I've joined. The thought of trying to post and maintain 20 accounts minimum to cover myself depending on where people flee to is overwhelming. I'm already averse to updating the accounts I have now. It takes too damn long as it is. (I need to set up PostyBird for the love of god. It doesn't work on a lot of mainstream sites, though.)

I want to share my art, but I don't want that to mean that I'm giving up my rights to it so some fuck can shove it into his dataset to create images and act like they're superior to something made by a real human and the human experience. I've opted out of the 3rd-party sharing option that they gave us, but I know that doesn't mean anything without proof. If they were giving data over that they shouldn't have from private conversations and password-locked blogs, they're not going to give a shit if someone toggled a setting. The whole issue with these datasets is the lack of consent to begin with, so why would they stop Now. I don't even know why they plan to pay Tumblr for the data in the first place because how much of it has already been scraped before they decided to tie it up in a bow for them?

I hate that people just parrot "Nightshade and Glaze!!" as if they're not open-source software that the tech bros can reverse engineer with the available coding. (As well as being easy to remove/get around in the first place.) Not to mention the stupid amount of processing power to use them, if they even work on the type of art you're putting into it in the first place. Even if they worked for your art, they're not accessible to everyone. That's not fair to artists who don't have or can't afford the highest-end PC parts. And even if they Worked to prevent AI it would only be a matter of time before they Didn't, like the constant fight UBlock is having with blocking YouTube's new coding to prevent ad blockers.

I'm just tired. I'm tired of feeling that the modern internet hellscape is just not meant for artists because the algorithms expect you to post as much as possible in order to get seen. I'm tired of artists finding a place to settle only to feel the need to move again and again because they just want their work and themselves to be respected. I miss old DeviantART when it was still a giant hub and community for artists instead of the shell it is today. I still see a lot of people still posting when I check in every now and then.

I don't know what the answer is, because I know data scraping for generative models isn't going away. I can only hope that it cannibalizes itself into hot garbage by taking in generated images that weren't tagged as AI. I would love it if all the wild shit people post on here could make the dataset completely unusable.

At the moment it looks like the only thing I can do is continue to watermark my art heavily and post low-quality versions. I've never had a large enough following to worry about art theft, but I can't control an all-consuming bot scraping everything.

I've been toying with the idea of making my own website and it's seeming more and more appealing. I've seen that you can make your own Patreon-adjacent subscription setup and have a pay-to-access feature. I don't know if that could help prevent scraping or if there are methods to get around that, too. Can bots scrape Patreon itself?

I'll need to update my LinkTree with all the other hundreds of sites that I'm on I guess. I was hoping that this long-ass post would help me come to some sort of conclusion or peace. I think I just gave myself more work to do. I also feel bad that my only other text post here is so hopeful, only to be slapped down immediately in this one.

To start this off, what you've read is my interpretation of the canon, that's my headcanon for my take on Rex. Which as the post even starts stating, it is my biggest divergence from the canon. Also, I fail to see where I mentioned clone/clone ship in that post. Spoiler alert: I really wasn't talking about that, at all. But thanks for twisting my words in that regard, to suit your freaky narrative and skewed perception of me.

Furthermore anon, I have already addressed those points in some older HC posts of mine. Here's my introduction to this terrifying take on Rex, and would you look at that! He cares about the other clones! (this post is also a compliment to them!) He just doesn't view them as brothers, both as a self-preservation method (getting too attached to anyone in a context of war is extremely bad) and also due to the inhibitor's chip doing. Also, when I say that his views on the clones change after the chip's removal, I never said he'd start viewing them as siblings all of the sudden.

It's no different from what I've done with my Plo koon & the Wolfpack, he doesn't view them as his children (as the popular fanons entails) in order to prevent any form of attachment to them. This is my Headcanon, my interpretation.

Listen, I'm new to this RPC, and I'm certain that no one (besides those I got to plot with so far) are familiar with my style of RPing. But I have a huge aversion to any kind of unplotted pre-established relationship, even those that are canon. Because, I don't like enforcing shit that could go against someone's portrayal, and I hate having shit forced upon me. I like plotting & discussing stuff with people, I want to build stuff with my partners. That's what Roleplay is supposed to be.

As someone who has been on CF, had to use it longer than I wanted to due to extreme financial difficulties, subsequently stopped using CF, and fully supports boycott efforts... this post brought up some interesting thoughts for me.

(I go extremely off topic and rant for far too long for no reason, so feel free to ignore lol)

For perspective: CF was monumentally helpful for me during the time I used it. I didn't make a large amount of money, around $50-100 in the months I was active, but for someone who has a job yet is always in the red- the benefit of that couldn't be understated. CF helped keep me on my meds and without it I probably would be in a way worse state right about now. But at the same time, the way I was treated when I did use it was... pretty terrible. Getting told you support the genocide & torture of children, and feeling like you, personally, are the reason they are suffering because you're trying to survive yourself is fucking awful. (Not to mention the odd ducks straight up lying that I didn't support the boycott because I criticized the methods and pointed out misinfo, but that's another story) Which- mind- feeling bad doesn't compare to the suffering of Palestinian people by any stretch of the imagination. But I feel like people here don't really realize how normalized that was a few months ago, how disproportionate the reaction was compared to the "crime", and... frankly, how little it did to change anything. In fact, it actually kind of hurt the cause, because Overwolf got to put out that bullshit statement about how the boycott was full of bullying/harassment and misinformation. Which... it kind of was, so that wound up overshadowing the actual criticism. And they used that as a shield, and some people that left CF went *back* to it after everything was "cleared up". The impact of that effort was... minimal at best.

Some smaller (relatively) creators like myself stopped using CF or put alt links, either because the impact to income wasn't large or because of the obvious moral issue. But that is not the norm. All of the biggest creators on CF then, including the mod squad, are still there. They've been making money throughout. They haven't acknowledged shit so far, and they likely won't in the future. Them speaking out about this will do nothing (from their perspective) except attract negative attention to them, and they'll need to give up their sizeable income. They absolutely will not let that happen just because people on tumblr are putting them in lists and sending angry asks. They will block you, remove your reblogs, and move on. The age of anonymous blogs actually having the power to run people out of the community at a whim is over. Tumblr simply does not have the influence.

Shame can be a powerful tool, yes. But shame only works if you're invested in the community you're in- which most paywall creators are not, and have not been, for years. Especially not on tumblr. You have to actually care about the reaction of others to be ashamed, and if you're not even looking at it, how can you be? They also generally tend to have such reputations in the community- such as big script modders, creators that have been creating/popular a very long time like ah00b, etc- that they're a bit too big to fall. (Mostly because simmers are terrible at actually stopping using cc of problematic people, even scammers and doxxers, but I digress.) They've learned that they can weather any scandal simply by being quiet and collecting their checks. Which has, sadly, kneecapped most of the boycott efforts so far.

So what can we do? I think raising awareness about what the boycott is, why it exists, and who is using CF, isn't a bad thing. That's not what I'm saying. But I don't think it's solving the problem. Simblr, again, is very niche. We're a very small minority of even PC simmers now. There are people that only engage with cc through CF, patreon, and other sites. The continued posts here are mostly moving through the same circles of people that already agree with them. And... sadly, mostly funneling hate to smaller creators that depend on that income far more than the ones actually making bank & contributing the most to Overwolf. Those are the only people caring enough to stop using CF, and overall, I think more harm is being caused to those creators than Overwolf, income wise. The current method of boycott is messy, kind of confusing, and ultimately not hitting the targets that it should be. It's... well, it's very simblr, I'll say that much.

I think that the scope needs to be narrowed a little bit, and that that would actually widen the reach. Instead of making a wide list of everyone that uses CF, for the purpose of sending them messages until they stop using it, I think it should be more focused and easier to consume. And I believe EA should be at the very center. Let's not forget that the partnership with Overwolf wouldn't even exist without EA, and that they make more money from this than anyone else, cc creators included. And yet I see very little ire towards them for this compared to, I don't know, releasing hollow expansion packs or buggy patches. Why are there no posts about an EA focused boycott, possibly including/reaching out to sims influencers, youtubers, streamers, the biggest cc creator collaborators, etc? Why is it always just the occasional paragraph about how CF users are the worst human beings to exist on the planet ever, a half-assed list of tumblr cc creators, floods of asks, back and forth reblog spats, and an air of moral superiority? Is that still all tumblr can do in the year 2024? The best and most useful thing I've seen so far is the blog that re-uploads the files from CF. That was good work and I'm sure it's a lot of effort to maintain. The only limiter is that the reach is probably small, and it'd probably be handy to continue to encourage creators themselves to add alt links too.

...I also believe that bringing EA to the forefront will help unite a lot of people in the community. Everyone knows they're dog shit, and efforts towards a company are a lot easier to sell than individual creators- which may be tied to memories, parasocial relationships, financial difficulties, and who knows what else. Trying to get people to stop using cc, again, even by the worst of freaking humanity is like impossible for some reason. Especially if you try to get them to stop using ALL of their favorite stuff, which let's be frank, usually includes most of the people using CF. They MIGHT use an alt link (like from the aforementioned blog), but most people aren't going to bother when they're cc shopping, especially not for pretty much every single thing they're downloading from various creators. That's why I think the boycott should be focused on EA and a small list of cc creators- the mod squad, and/or the top five to ten earners/downloaded or something- and then maybe sprinkle in some of EA's largest collaborators across platforms, such as the highest earner youtuber, streamer, etc. Add in that not downloading from/using CF in general is *preferred*, but not a rule, and continue encouraging creators to add alt links rather than requiring them to move off the platform completely, and compliance will probably go way higher. If you let them add alt links, there's a much higher chance that the revenue will be split that way, to at least impact Overwolf some, than of the creator just removing all their content (spoiler: they're not gonna do it).

The general public likes clear goals that are easy to follow, not near impossible tasks like boycotting nearly every creator *and* EA *and* numerous other companies in their everyday life (as, let's remember, Overwolf isn't the only target nor the main target of any boycott list). I know it's tempting to just say "fuck it, comply with everything perfectly the way I want or nothing", but that's not realistic- and chances are, if you play it like that, you're gonna get the nothing. We gotta work smarter here, not harder. And like the OP says, focus our energy in alternative ways. Give people different options than just cutting off income completely, cos they ain't gonna do it. Or they simply can't do it. Will people contribute to causes like this, through donations and awareness, and even boycotting some companies? Sure. Will they do a complete boycott of everything they like, or sacrifice their entire (or a big portion of) income for it? No. No, they won't. That's not realistic and simply will not happen, no matter how much anyone wants it. And I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most of you wouldn't quit your job either, putting yourself in threat of homelessness or denying yourself medical care because of it, no matter what you say on the internet. (Y'all can't even stop downloading cc from bigots and doxxers, much less quit your jobs... but anyway) Whether that's the right or wrong thing for anyone to do, that's kinda just the reality of the situation. So, you have to change your expectations, your goals, your demands, to be closer to reality. Raise awareness, encourage alt links, download from other platforms, and lift up creators that don't use CF. And whatever amount of energy you spend doing that, put double into assisting in spaces outside of sims tumblr or other niche fandom spaces. It isn't that I think efforts here are pointless or not worth doing... just that, you'll probably have a lot more success making a difference that way.

I want to be clear re: Curseforge:

I am not justifying support for the IDF.

I am not here to flame/call out/cause hate or harassment to anyone.

I am not saying that anyone who has content on Curseforge is intentionally and actively supporting the IDF.

And I also believe that last part is vital for our community to consider.

My point to all this is... In this world in which we live, it's only going to get more and more difficult to ask people to part with what sources of income they can get their hands on. I want to urge our community to continue to put energy toward assisting people in need, and organizing IRL, as much as we are able; rather than putting energy toward future shame campaigns online that ultimately accomplish nothing.*

If someone chooses to stay on Curseforge, move on. Put their content on alternative sites. Focus your energy on spreading information and resources to help the people who need it.

Spend your energy on the people who need and deserve that focus.

*- listing creators that are on Curseforge and including alt links to their content is fine imo, as long as we encourage people not to go send hate. We can only hope that people will change their minds eventually, BUT, they are FAR LESS LIKELY TO DO SO if people demand immediate moral purity at the end of a torch and pitchfork. Those people are not the ones we should be angry at.

We've all been conditioned in a world where resources are precious. People choosing to stay on Curseforge is a SYMPTOM, not the CAUSE. Focus on actual lives that need our help, and on our IRL political and community movements.

look. im going off anon for this, which is something i never do tbh. i ship sk. i ship it like hell. but i like kl too, and when i saw that post, i laughed. it was a good joke, and tbh i was like "wtf why cant u see keiths hand maybe he IS holding lances hand". people go on and on about klantis, but there are sheith shippers who take it way too fucking far sometimes. you don't deserve hate or problems for that. you seem like a genuinely nice person who doesn't deserve crap for what you ship. ¡you deserve as much happiness with your ship as we get with ours. as much as id like things to be canon, i realize that it might not be, and no matter what, no one deserves to be hated on or pestered because of what they ship. klance is a damn beautiful ship, and some sk shippers need to realize that by harrassing people over ships, they have sunk to @ntis levels. so you keep on shipping your great ship and dont listen to what anybody has to say about it. youre doing amazing sweetie. ALSO another thing that some sk shippers need to realize is that kl shipper =/= anti!! sure, it's definitely a thing (oh boy is it a thing) but just because someone ships kl doesnt mean theyre an anti! sometimes the sk side of the fandom can be pretty damn hypocritical too, and it pisses me off. sk is a good ship. kl is a good ship. one ship is not inherently better than another, even in regards to whether or not itll be "canon". just let people enjoy what they want! sorry for venting a bit. i’m gonna start of by saying that i don’t think this is actually an s/k vs k/l situation? because this behavior is NOT a thing reserved to s/k shippers, it’s just that as that ship has exploded in the past year so has the number of people who are s/k shippers doing this so it just feels like it, but i see it across the board. it’s not s/k thing and i don’t want it to be labeled as such. it’s just that because s/k has become so big you can find more examples of it than if you went searching in s/l, a/l, p/l, etc. could some of that behavior be s/k vs k/l? i’m sure you’d be hard pressed not to find at least one person like that out there, but i actually believe this stems from more of a non-k/l shipping fandom issue than anything else.

i feel like i should address what counts as ant¡ behavior, especially as an ex-ant¡ myself. but that’s probably a post i’ll make separately from this one though as i want to be able to word it correctly and make it so that people don’t feel like i’m coming for them or their ship. the fact is that some people genuinely don’t recognize their behavior for what it is because it’s almost been reinforced that they’re doing the right thing by so many for so long they’ve let themselves go unchecked and because of that it’s just spiraled out of control.

but yeah, just because someone ships k/l doesn’t mean they’re an anti! i think that sometimes people just jump the gun, and honestly i’m not going to make excuses for them anymore. the thing is it’s not even that every sha/adin shipper has been personally harassed for their ship, because statistically that’s just not possible. i really don’t think people are writing anons, @ ing in posts, etc to every single sha/adin out there. and before you come for me saying i could never know what it’s like, i have had my inbox flooded by both sides, i have been vagued about by both sides, i have had call out posts, sha/adin twitter memed me (briefly, but tbh im not mad about that IT WAS FUNNY), i was on vld.flops, and at one point i’ve had law enforcement involvement (to be fair, that was for ant¡s coming after me, not sha/adins) like i’ve been through that. that’s personal harassment. and yeah, seeing ant¡s post mean stuff in the tags, seeing them go after your favorite blogs or your friends, and in general just... their overall disrespect towards people in general is pretty bad, but none of that warrants you walking around with a chip on your shoulder or being able to just ‘go off’ at any and all times. even if you have been personally harassed once or even multiple times, you don’t get to do it back. that’s not how you enact change.

Why are Cannibalism, Food Control and Intoxication asterisked?

They require a bit more explaination. Mostly because Cannibalism and intoxication often have themes of non-consent, and that's not my thing.

Cannibalism as an act of making someone part of yourself, and consentual. Honestly it's something I would consider irl in extremely niche circumstances were it legal. Intoxication as in getting drunk or high to increase sensation and make oneself pliant- going into it fully soberly consenting, not someone spiking a drink or something.

For food control, that's more specific. I have an eating disorder. I cope by sexualizing it. If you find this post from the ED community, don't lie to yourself and pretend half the community doesn't also do it, even if they keep it to themselves.
