I’m so tired of my physics lab group because it’s me and then a bunch of guys who went to the same Christian high school in the same town as my university and they just talk about guns all the time.

Today one guy was telling a story about his cousin who’s in Communications so the professors are more liberal so she has to deal with them “talking about pronouns and crap.” Same guy has a sticker on his phone that says “I support FREE SPEECH not ~POLITICAL CORRECTNESS~”

But it gets a little bit harder to feel that way when I keep hearing about how much better the comics seem to be in comparison to 😬 like yes absolutely create new evolved versions of these characters! But um also maybe not do it the way you did…

Yes, I understand things look awful, but I need people to understand we don’t know what the hell is truly going on and I say that because it’s clear as day that something is off.

Look if Chris were selling this and acting like nothing was wrong then everyone would be losing their minds, and she would have ammo, but enough stuff has happened where you can see he doesn’t like her, he’s performing and that’s probably why he’s acting has switched up (having to horribly act in real life is affecting his actual craft) there are numerous holes in the cheese 🧀 of course the question stems…..then why marry the girl especially knowing she has racist friends…….please go back and refer to the previous and third red paragraphs.

Chris does need to be called out and if this shitshow goes public public to the point the general population learns what fans know and it becomes a big deal, you’d better believe we’d end up getting a BUA and then some within mere hours or days (remember his response to the bomb pic)……do i believe any of that will happen…..nope. What are your opinions on both Book!Rhaenyra and Show!Rhaenyra.

😬 Welp obviously unpopular opinions coming through:

Book!Rhaenyra is incredibly entitled, self-centered, and narcissistic. She literally is what happens when you are never told no and essentially every whim is indulged and handed to you on a silver tray.

I know some people have said that her depiction is borderline misogynistic in the books(Maegor with tits), but if you look at real-life monarchs(who come from empires built on colonialism and slavery), even to this day, they are not nice people so I’d say her characterization isn't exactly an unfair depiction.

Of course, people always like to point out that Rhaenyra did not start off bad(she was the realms Delight and beloved by the people). She was just stressed from losing nearly all of her kids. She snapped like any of us would do. She’s actually the true victim of the Dance.

I’ll grant her supporters the first part, but the subsequent arguments🙃 Rhaenyra started acting, um how should I say, in a questionable manner long before she started losing her children. People always leave out how she ordered Daemon to chop off Ser Vaemond’s head and feed it to her piss-colored dragon for daring to speak the truth. Unlike in the show, this happened three years before the events of the Dance when she was mentally sound.

Yes, you could make the point that it was technically done to protect her children(and herself), but then you can also argue that if she really wanted to protect her children she would not have had such obvious bastards(I’ve seen people try to argue that they aren’t bastards in the books because they’ve got Baratheon and Arryn ancestry, which is dumb as hell because they have features that don’t come from either house) in the first place.

Plus it’s not as if her children would be killed if they were acknowledged as bastards. They’d still be alive albeit out of the running for the Iron Throne. Of course that would have probably taken her out of the running as well so murder and cutting out the tongues to silence those who state the obvious to be queen someday it is😄

Honestly, I feel like she’s a dumber duller version of Cersei(and that’s saying something because while entertaining she is pretty idiotic). Rhaenyra is not very charismatic and she’s a hypocrite(bastard hater while having bastards herself) and a racist(and once again stress isn’t a “good” reason for racism so if you feel that way 🙃). I’ll keep it cute and leave it there, but in my humble opinion, there is nothing about her that is really likable.

Show! Rhaenyra is boring. She started out fine and we could see some of book! Rhaenyra's arrogance that fuels her fire and drive, but when they switched actors in episode six she became lifeless.

We see a little of that fire return during the scene where everyone is gathered in the Great Hall of Driftmark and Rhaenyra suggests for Aemond to be questioned, but it once again disappears.

Now I want to be clear, I do not blame Emma for Rhaenyra’s lack of fire. As I said, during the Great Hall scene in episode seven, the fire was present. However, production so far seems hell-bent on making her into this sympathetic heroine of sorts which is why it has disappeared.

They are setting her up to be this wronged woman who the patriarchy wore down even though that simply isn’t the whole truth. Before this show even though people felt like she was the rightful heir, no one saw her as this hero who had a heart of gold. They recognized that she wasn't a very likable person while still acknowledging how she was wronged in some way.

Now you have people who act like she never did anything wrong(some of the people behind HOTD included). That she is the unquestionable hero and a kindhearted person who was destroyed by the war when that's simply not the case. I don’t find it cute how they are trying to redeem a racist sociopath in the name of supposed “feminism”(all while tearing down and stripping every other woman character of her characterization🙃).

I will say that even though they’ve whitewashed her, she still doesn’t come off as sympathetic to me. You can see moments of her arrogance. It’s not as vicious as in the books(I.e. chopping off Ser Vaemond’s head and feeding it to Syrax), but it’s still there like during episode seven and when she was taunting Daemon right before she got choked out by him in the finale.

Going forward, I hope the show brings in more of her book personality because she’s not very entertaining to watch.

I think some to most of the miracubitches can’t tell the differences between morally gray characters (some of these characters make hard choices even if it hurts. But some fanfic writers can’t do it correctly either!), characters’ alternate POV (they weren’t there at the incident(s) so they’re more akin to being stuck in the middle or trying to avoid unnecessary petty conflict, they ain’t drones for the supposedly “beloved” protagonist) and just plain bashing…

And that’s not good for their fragile lil sanity…

Which got people rightfully even more upset because A) Ellie is FOURTEEN!!! And B) the actor who plays Ellie (Bella Ramsey) is non-binary. So he’s in some hot water for basically p*do shit and misogyny

Yes! Exactly everything you said about matty and the comedian comparisons! I’m completely stumped about comedians I like atm lmao but I do like dark comedy. But talking about a key in the door, it obviously has no deep meaning or person attached, but I need to unlearn that as my “I’m so frustrated right now phrase” 😬 but in a more serious thing, we have had a lot youth crime and when they show videos with blurred out faces and the kids aren’t white, or it’s in an area that’s accepted a lot of refugees, the things people who weren’t even affected will say, and comments people leave on social media with their government name… so messed up! I read a book a few years ago about African Americans living in America and children of immigrants feel they need to be perfect and not get in any minor mischief or trouble like underage drinking because other people will paint it as a failing of their whole community. I can’t remember the name of the book now (maybe it was a blm podcast actually? If anyone remembers it please let me know) but it was something that I hadn’t personally seen/ noticed until after learning that. But now I see it everywhere, and especially with trans people atm!

I keep thinking about what you said about Vance being more dangerous than trump because he speaks well and I’m noticing it with the edge lord types who use big words or people who write a seemingly logical explanation about why eating too much red meat is bad and then they’ll just throw in some racist dog whistles and then within a few weeks they’re not using dog whistles but saying the racist shit unfiltered and because they made some accurate points and used big words and sounded eloquent, it just slides in there like ‘oh well this must be true too’

I got off topic from talking about what matty said but it feels like it’s all connected in some weird way. It makes sense in my head, I just can’t put the words in order.

I mean Matty saying what he said wasn’t really a joke - it was just a racialized threat. Obviously it was a jokey threat because I don’t believe Matty would fight Azaelia (also: he if he did, he would lose because she’s just straight up crazier than him). And I just have no patience for that? If he said “I’m coming to egg your house” that would be a weird thing to say but it wouldn’t be racist. If he said “next time you see your car, expect the tires to be slashed” that would be a threat of malice but it wouldn’t be racist. Even if he just said “next time I see you, I’m gonna smack you” I’d be like “… ok” but the wig thing coming in was just RACIST and there’s just no excuse for that.

Especially because he keeps doing it. He keeps being “accidentally” racist which like… bro is just a racist little man. And obviously that doesn’t make him about to go commit hate crimes or whatever but it’s also like??? Come on.

and I agree when you see people committing crimes is often when the hate comes out and it’s like idk man the hate was there and let’s be real, if you need a group to be perfect not to use slurs against them then you’re just bigoted? I think Nalyra and Virginia’s incessant posting on the tags isnt the only reason for their wide reaching. Popular fandom “spokespersons” like Gorrei, Kat (Immortal Daily), and No Context Lestat (all notably not Black) are friendly and consistently reblogging and interacting with these users. Of course theyll cry if called out for the company they keep and pretend they had no idea but continue to be friendly with them because they have no backbone (i believe it was Kat that once said why cant all the people crying about racism just be quiet and peaceful) but its kind of ironic that a show with leads of color have the most racist and pathetic accounts on the forefront.

Also several of these people use the fact that they are not from the US to claim they don’t “understand racism” as a result, but also seem to make no effort in learning even though they’re watching a show that takes place in 1910s New Orleans. And imo it’s bc they mostly want the show to get to the lestat parts as soon as possible anyways and think the show’s thoughtful exploration of racism is just a blip they have to endure until they get their white boy of the month show. Now, apparently, according to some people, calling her a slur like that isn’t that bad, because people who are upset and humiliated sometimes say mean and hurtful stuff they don’t mean.

Eh, bollocks. If I am angry with my lesbian family member, the idea of calling her a homophobic slur has never entered my head. Not even remotely. I’ve been very upset with my friend who is from Sudan, has the idea of calling them a racist slur ever entered my head? Nope. Are you joking?

But you see, Sneep did have these thoughts about muggleborns, all the time. He not only thinks this but says it to people all the time.

Not only that, but one of his lovely friends attacked one of Lily’s classmates Mary McDonald with dark magic (Mulciber) and he thinks that’s fine, tries to minimise it saying it was a laugh. Hilarious.

So - as he admits himself - it just sort of slipped out, when his emotions were heightened and he wasn’t thinking straight and being careful hiding that side of himself from her. And the fact he says it as a reaction to feeling humiliated is a bad sign, a sign that he is misogynistic - even if JKR didn’t intend to write him that way, (makes sense if you’ve read my post on incels).

Warrior Season 3 Finale

(Sorry person who sent me an anon message, I accidentally deleted it 😭 but here ya go)

AH TOY AND NELLIE KILLING DICKLAND TOGETHER!!! THE WIVES ARE SO BACK!!!

They had to fit in A LOT this episode, but I’m glad Ah Toy and Nellie had two very solid scenes. I fantasized so much about them getting revenge together, and it actually happened! Sorry Leary but the wives deserve this more! Dickland talking shit and playing stupid mind games with them. His arrogance was his downfall. No asshole YOU should be afraid because Ah Toy is not playing around! She didn’t get a single scratch while slicing and dicing him like a pig! It was so bloody and brutal and violent, I love it! Nellie being backup with her shotgun like “you’re doing great sweetie!”

Then Bill and Leary had to show up at the wrong time! Though I don’t think Bill can recognize her from that distance. Then Nellie began shooting at them and they ran away. So hopefully they’ll be off the hook next season. Burning Dickland’s body in the incinerator was pure poetic Justice! 

Back at the brothel, the adrenaline of revenge is replaced by crushing despair. Dickland’s death didn’t bring back Lai and their girls. He’s not the only greedy and evil man out there. Ah Toy’s been in survival mode for so long, she’s TIRED of all this shit! She never let herself show emotion like this, not even with Ah Sahm. Seeing her completely break down with Nellie is a huge deal for their relationship! After everything that happened, they still love each other and became even stronger. Nellie holding Ah Toy close and saying “I’m not going anywhere” 😭🥺💕 So similar to how they ended last season. I predict that Ah Toy will leave the brothel, and they’ll rebuild somewhere next season. 

Mai Ling confronting Eliza was so good! After the trauma she endured, Mai Ling can’t help relating to Eliza. What Eliza did was wrong, but her shitty husband is the real problem. Mai Ling giving Eliza a knife…I hope she use it well.

So here for Catherine Archer scamming Buckley for all his money! Rob his slimy racist ass, lady! 

The Tongs, Isaac’s crew, and police fighting over the money plates. The ice factory is a homage to Bruce Lee, according to the Internet. Nice. The finale definitely isn’t short on action, I counted 4 in this episode! Isaac almost took the plates but Ah Sahm handled him, and gave them to Lee. That means Yan Mi can be free.

Tbh I’m quite concerned with how they portrayed the black characters this season. Abigail is good, but most of them were antagonistic. I’m aware of how Asians are deemed “the model minority” and often pitted against African Americans. I just wish the show could’ve subverted that somehow. 

Back to Yan Mi, she’s released from jail and runs home to her father. It’s a very poignant scene that can resonate with children of immigrant parents. She respects him, but felt stifled by his expectations. Still, she did mess up by getting involved with a gang. I would’ve preferred Ah Sahm to not have romance this season, but it served it a purpose. I like Yan Mi as a character. Too bad she gets so much flack for getting between YJ and Ah Sahm. 

After getting disowned, she goes to the train station. Ah Sahm never made it, but Chao does. He convince her to go without him anyway, and she does but it’s hard. She got the money from Chao, but she’s also alone as a Chinese woman. We’ve seen other characters try to get out and it didn’t go well. Still, glad they didn’t kill her and hopefully she’ll be ok. Just a small town girl…living in a lonely world…she took the midnight train going anywhere…

After Kon Pak, Lai, and Father Jun…I draw the line at Chao getting stabbed multiple times! ZING is back and he wants revenge against everyone! Bill and Lee looked so happy, laughing on the porch 😬 They better not kill Chao if they get season 4! So many Asian characters died this season, they better replenish! Hello, Michelle Yeoh??? 🙏🏻 Don’t let the white characters outnumber them! 

Finally… the dreaded moment where Ah Sahm has to choose between his sister and the Hop Wei. I figured he would choose Mai Ling. His relationship with Young Jun has been going downhill this season. It’s hard to watch because I understand both of their perspectives. Ah Sahm vs YJ and Hong was equally epic and heartbreaking. None of them took pleasure in that fight, but it was necessary. Ah Sahm knocked both of them out before going to find Mai Ling. 

Meanwhile, Mai Ling is defending herself against the Hop Wei. She makes some progress with her gun, but gets overpowered by them. It looked like she might die by drowning, but I didn’t buy it. Ah Sahm and Mai Ling are reunited as they desperately cling to each other. No more Hop Wei and Long Zhii. Li Yong became the leader of his own tong, good for him! Exploring these new dynamics in season 4 will be very interesting. I’ve always understood Mai Ling while not agreeing with all her manipulative schemes. Hitting rock bottom could lead to some sort of redemption for her. Looking forward to it! 

Big political changes will definitely endanger Chinatown next season. The Chinese Exclusion Act was passed in 1882, but it might be sooner in the show. Not good when everyone is still divided and fighting each other. Perhaps Ah Sahm, the embodiment of Bruce Lee, will unite them all in the end. 

Season 3 had its flaws, but overall it was amazing! I really hope it doesn’t end here, the story and characters have so much potential! Fucking Hollywood studios refusing to pay people fairly 😡😡😡 I saw on Twitter some of the Warrior cast joining the protest too, it’s great! Season 4 of Warrior or we riot!!!

The whole deal was that Caitlin's boyfriend + her brother liked a bunch of rude and racist things about angel reese and people were saying that " you are the company that you keep". First of all thank you for your words, I’m glad you liked my fics! Also no need to apologise! think I never answered these types of asks before and I had a lot of fun answering them. Thank you for sending me an ask!

As for the answers:

1. The character that everyone gets wrong: I’m not sure if this counts, but a lot of people are not aware that 1) Tom wasn’t in muggle London for the Blitz! It happened while he was in Hogwarts. He’d see the effects - buildings destroyed for example - when he went back during the summer but he didn’t experiment the Blitz itself, if I remember the dates correctly. 2) he wasn’t a posh child! He had a working class accent and a manner of speaking/behaving. A lot of writers have him behaving like a upper Downton Abbey character since he was kid but he grew up poor and “unrefined”!

7. A character that you began to hate not because of canon but because of fanon: I don’t hate him but fanon Draco annoys me haha it’s kinda hard making him compelling in fanfic because in canon he’s a cowardly, spoiled little boy biting more than he can chew so I get why people would give him more depth and qualities but I don’t like the total distortion I see in certain fics, re: making him noble and brave or this cool and sexy bad boy who’s even more powerful than Voldemort 😬

8. Common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about: That Harry is Voldemort’s “equal”. He isn’t. Voldemort is older, more experienced - including sexually - smarter, ruthless. Perhaps Harry has dormant powers that make him as magically powerful as Voldemort (like what happened during the 7 Potters chapter as far as I remember) but this is not very explored in canon. More importantly, Harry is Voldemort’s Horcrux. He’s a possession, a prize. He belongs to Voldemort. I get wanting to make them equal so their relationship is more “healthy” but they’re inherently fucked up and that’s what makes it so fun and compelling to me. In fiction love can be an unequal and toxic affair. Harry is such as a concubine to a powerful Emperor and I like them like this. Their age difference alone puts them in uneven ground. If you want something closer to a more balanced relationship between them, Harry needs to travel back in time and meet a young Tom Riddle.

16. You can’t understand why so many people like this thing (characterisation, trope, headcanon etc): Dark!Harry, any variety of Weasley and Dumbledore bashing, the whole “the light is evil actually” thing. If you take away how violently Harry disagrees with Voldemort and how much other people, who also oppose Voldemort, are important to him — the Weasleys, Dumbledore, the Order etc — you’re taking away the conflict and the friction between them. The whole point to me is Harry suffering with how much he loves Voldemort/Tom Riddle, no matter how wretched he is. He’s a Christ figure, condemned to love all Humanity and that Humanity includes Voldemort, but he’s also a human boy, not a god, so loving Voldemort hurts. Why would you take away Harry’s suffering? He’s at his prettiest when he cries!!! He was born to be a martyr!!!! Also I understand being annoyed by the canon’s lack of nuance between “dark” and “light”, but making the Malfoys the “good guys” and the Weasleys the “bad guys” is just inverting that binary. Also in canon Voldemort is very much a fascistic racist working with other fascist racists. Kinda hard to defend his philosophy.

18. It is absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on: Riddledore, Omega Voldemort (not Tom Riddle, VOLDEMORT) Omega Dumbledore, attic wife trope for both Harry and Dumbledore. The gothic fairy tale elements of TomHarry, the psychosexual madness of it all. Harry both as Voldemort’s son and mother. Stockholm Syndrome. Yaoi basics. How come Gellert didn’t impregnate Albus into submission in the western fandom yet? Also the characters Alastor Moody, Kingsley Shackelbolt and Cedric Diggory.

And that she is also going to add another character to the script. I wonder if Joe is in this project because he was in France last summer and he was with her, maybe they were discussing the script.
