The beauty🌹 of Shadamy
Isn't it just wonderful how my dear Amy Rose gets paired romantically with every Sonic Rival in the fandom? Even Blaze! And fortunately not much with Jet 😂😂 My favorite one obviously is Shadamy, followed by Surgamy and finally with Metal Sonic but seriously, to me nothing beats THE Shadamy❤🖤🩷.
So the BEST thing about this ship to me is that it was born out of a single interaction 😆 and I don't mean the moment she colorblinded mistook him for Sonic and hugged him nooooope I mean the moment she reminded him about Maria Robotnik's 🥺 true wish by giving him a similar speech of hope and second chances and after that he said: I have to fufill my promise for Maria... And you... Me after seeing that👇👇
(Funny this gif, casually she was also fangirling about a... SHAMY 🤣🤣 only the ones who know the show will get it)
Seriously, is fascinating how popular this ship became of that single interaction that led fans to write a HUGE amount of fanfiction of them and is always so romantic or so passionate or so angsty God I never get tired of it, one of my favorite portrayals of Shadamy is when Shadow is kind of a emo simp towards her, like he is simply adoring her even when she only looks at Sonic who is not looking at her 😭... Ah drama. 😂 I remember a few stories back when I was a pre teen... Like "el blog de Amy Rose" That's the only written fanfic name I remember and it was a total soap opera, a total and absolute telenovela full of all kinds of drama like Silver was their son and Sonic and Shadow were lost brothers 😂. Then I remember I few comics like Ternion that was an insanely passionate and angsty story with an excellent art that to contribute to my torture it was never finished... And boy I know the author had a secret smut chapter that she never posted anywhere... We know it exists because there were a few hot scenes in a video... 😭 but never happened the story didn't even reach half of what I think it was going to be🥲. In Chaos universe there's a double story in one Sonic and Amy had a daughter named Sonia but in an alternative universe we have María Rose who is Shadow and Amy's daughter... Is another tragedy were Amy is dead in both universes 😭 and of course I'm totally biased with Maria Rose's universe because the way her dad remember Amy's just hits different, seriously is way more enjoyably painful 🥲 and then the most current comics I'm addicted to of course IDOL AMY portrayed Shadow exactly how I said I like him the most 🥺 and the last one I saw is one apocalyptic where obviously Shadow survives and mourns a dead Amy: Future's Shadow... Girl this hedgehog can't catch a break they like to see him suffer 🥲🥲🥲
Now let's focus in the official interactions:
The Archie comics before the reboot kinda mistreated Amy portraying her in an annoying way most of the time just like in some games... And I wasn't a fan of a certain interaction she had with Shadow... (Those issues had a bitchy evil Rouge portrayal that I didn't like one bit🤬) I mean shadow actually kicks her in the stomach and hits her with her own hammer and... That just felt so wrong, you see I can't picture an scenario where Shadow would lay a hand on Amy in such a way as he did in those comics but I had a little comfort in this interaction at least 👇👇
She puts her faith on him when he doesn't have much faith on himself and that is something she also did in the games, like in Shadow the hedgehog own game. Then there was a reboot and we got better interactions, here we have Amy teasing him and he pouting adorably (and finally they dropped the Rouge is a bitch portrayal thank you😤)
We also see that they can make a good team
Hey Shadow how it feels to be hammered by her? 🤭😇, then we had the marvelous IDW reboot but we still don't have proper interactions (and this is the best Rouge💜)
Though honesty? This look like a romance novel scene... You know, with the bad boy being stubborn with the kind sweet girl 😂. Well Sonic IDW is still ongoing so we'll see if we get something more juicy... But I think I will be happy if they simply team up in a fight again.
And now let's talk about Twitter... Well, well, well have you noticed this tiny details in Sonic's Twitter takeovers? Someone asked "Shadow, will you marry me? " And they made Amy voice be the one reading that question 🧐, not only that the things Shadow described about what he wants in a partner for marriage were things that Amy totally would do perfectly (and to add some spice they made Sonic voice sound kind of upset to tease us with some sonadow too😂😂) and then the most precious and hilarious thing... SHADOW AND AMY ARE BOTH SWIFTIES 😆😆
And look! He got her ticket's 😭😭 and they went together!!! 😭😭😭(that's a DATE) and then in another Twitter takeover she tells about how they had fun and got shirts and then Sonic got jealous 😭😭😭 KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and look what SEGA IS DOING 👇👇👇
Pop Star Amy and Rock Star Shadow I can't... 😭😭 and paladin Amy and knight Shadow AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THEY MATCH!!!!!
I'm telling you... Sonic team is indulging us with oficial Sonamy but they are also shamelessly teasing us with SHADAMY (and sonadow juju)
And seriously fellow comic artists, feel free to keep drawing Shadamy comics forever... We don't get tired... 😇 and SEGA... Don't be shy... We conform with little teasing details you don't have to confirm or deny anything but for future games... A little Shadamy won't hurt 🥺🙏, we want Shadamy in games too! IDW that goes for you too... If you are teasing Sonamy and Sonadow you can tease Shadamy too! (And Knouge too! 😫)
And all this reminds me that we should demand SEGA to reboot the Sonic Adventure games with new modern animation and also so it's playable in modern consoles! I want to play it with the Nintendo Switch!! 😤😤😤

STUDY: Kon-el, Conner Kent
— basics.
▸ is your muse tall/short/average? Kon's I feel average height he's 5'9"-6'0" depending on the verse!
▸ are they okay with their height? Yeah Kon think's he's hot shit. Honestly I don't really see him being bothered with his looks or anything physically with him. That's just how he was made and he just gets on with things.
▸ what’s their hair like? Jet black hair like Clarks. He's got an under cut going on with his curls on the top.
▸ do they spend a lot of time on their hair/grooming? Kon likes to look his best. I think for him he likes to style and experiment with his appearance in an attempt to kind of find himself and make himself look like his own person
▸ does your muse care about their appearance/what others think? Kon does care about his appearance. I think for a long time it was really the only consistent thing that he had control over. He want's to be his own person and he does that via the clothes he wears and how he styles his hair. When he has to conform to more "normal" style of dress he doesn't feel comfortable or feel himself.
— preferences.
▸ indoors or outdoors? outdoors ▸ rain or sunshine? sunshine ▸ forest or beach? forest ▸ precious metals or gems? metals ▸ flowers or perfumes? perfumes ▸ personality or appearance? personality ▸ being alone or being in a crowd? being in a crowd ▸ order or anarchy? order ▸ painful truths or white lies? painful truths ▸ science or magic? science ▸ peace or conflict? peace ▸ night or day? day ▸ dusk or dawn? dusk ▸ warmth or cold? warmth ▸ many acquaintances or a few close friends? a few close friends ▸ reading or playing a game? games but he does like reading comics or graphic novels.
— questionnaire.
▸ what are some of your muse’s bad habits? Kon's impulsive and he's a hedonist. He does things in the spur of the moment and because they feel good. His ego though I think is his umber one red flag. He's too sure in himself and his abilities and he loves attention so it gets him in to a lot of trouble or costs him victories in fights.
▸ has your muse lost anyone close to them? how has it affected them? Yeah Kon lost Tana moon in canon she was his girlfriend. I tend to just say they were friends or age Tana down a few years if I'm writing their relationship as romantic. Either way, romantic or platonic her death was a big character shift for Kon. It opened his eyes and he stopped being carefree and more serious he had a really rough time getting over it.
▸ what are some fond memories your muse has? Kon's fondest memories are from his early young justice days. Those memories are especially precious to him. Clark giving him the name Kon-el is also one of his favourite memories. Being accepted like that espically by Clark and being treated like family means so much to Kon. He was just "Superboy" for a really long time and being given the name Kon-el made him feel more like a person.
▸ is it easy for your muse to kill? No I don't think so. I don't really remember if he's killed anyone in Canon (I need to re read) but I think he's like Clark. He'll do it if it comes down to it if he had no other options. He's more willing to self sacrifice than he is to just outright kill someone.
▸ what’s it like when your muse breaks down? Kon will either shut down completely or have an explosive emotional breakdown and then shut down completely. An explosive breakdown is literally explosive. The heat vision going off and a TTK burst among other things. Anger is his strongest negative emotion I feel if his anger is triggered that would set off his explosive breakdown but so would something incredibly sad too like grief.
▸ is your muse capable of trusting someone with their life? Yes but I don't think he just hands that out as freely as he used to. That's reserved for close friends and family.
▸ what’s your muse like when they’re in love? He's a known flirt and loves to tease, but when he falls in love he falls hard, fast and intensely. Kon's usually brash annoying and loud but that kind of melts away when he's around someone he loves, not just romantically but platonically too because platonic love is also very important to Kon. When he's with someone he loves he finds it easier to open up about his feelings and his insecurities about himself. His love language is diffidently physical affection. Lot's of snuggles lots of being held.

I've been playing a clinically disgusting amount of Assassin's Creed Valhalla to pass the time during this quarantine and also to keep myself awake to power through this jet lag, and it's got me wondering
AC games are always so cinematic, especially this one and Odyssey. The visuals are absolutely stunning and the gameplay and story largely lean into the aesthetics. Which makes sense, considering that AC is supposed to be a historical fiction series with a good balance of fantasy and historical realism. But it's also not the only game series that does that. Fallout and the Elder Scrolls come to mind for me, along with LA Noire which feels more like an interactive novel than a game, and Metal Gear Solid which... I am so sorry if you try to get into MGS without doing your lore homework.
It might be my own tastes, but video games for me feel more like playable movies. Say what you will about Pokemon Sword and Shield, but the visuals were very polished while still maintaining the OG Pokemon style.
Video games are also a super new art form in the grand scheme of things, and didn't really get as sophisticated as, say, Red Dead Redemption 2 is until extremely recently. Like, last 10 years recently. I know we all love to rag on Skyrim and Todd Howard like he kind of deserves for beating that dead horse into red paste, but I noticed that Skyrim really marked a turnaround in video games and how people talk about them. Suddenly, they were taken more seriously. Suddenly, they were considered a legitimate art form instead of boomer comic "father I can not click the book" fodder at best and the direct cause of youth violence at worst. Y'all remember how sophisticated Skyrim was for 2011? Now the graphics just kind of look meh, but back then it was jaw-droppingly incredible.
I think it's because so many other developers started pushing the bounds after Skyrim's massive commercial success, so now we're so used to that being the norm that we forgot that Skyrim set the curve on its release day.
Anyway, this is a very long-winded and roundabout way of saying that I wonder if the study of video games will start entering the academic sphere soon. I mean, why not? Cinema is considered a legitimate field, how are games that much different? Mainstream cinema is just as commericialized and crawling with scandal as mainstream games are, there's indie niches and little corners of more serious and daring themes in gaming like there are in cinema, they're not much different, one is just more interactive.
Someone should get their foot in the door of that and start writing video game theory. I'd consider doing it if I had something to say, or had that much faith in my writing ability.
Then again, some of the incomprehensible drudge I've had to sound out like a first grader for my cinema classes did ultimately make me feel better about myself, so not all hope is lost

CHARACTER CHEAT SHEET: PETER PARKER / SPIDER-MAN
Peter Parker’s abilities, traits, and history can be complicated, so I gathered up all I know from comics and all the website I’ve visited in my life, revisited them, and put them together. I hope that the Marvel fanfictions writers will find this useful, especially that more and more Spider-Man fanfics are written nowadays.
[fun fact about the hyphen between ‘Spider’ and ‘Man’ - the creators of the character used it to differ Spider-Man from Superman.]
Full name: Peter Benjamin Parker
Spider-Man aliases: Spidey, Webhead, Webs, Web-Slinger, Wallcrawler/ Wall-crawler
Date of birth: - comics: Peter is a Libra, making his birthday sometime between September 23rd and October 22nd. - MCU: August 10th, 2001
Characteristics: - gender: male - current height (age 28): 5' 10" / teenage years height: 5' 5" - current weight (age 28): 167 lbs (76 kg) / teenage years weight: 140 lbs (64 kg) - eyes: hazel - hair: brown
Family: - Richard Parker, Mary Parker (parents, killed in a plane crash, spies) - Benjamin Parker (uncle, killed by a thief) - May Parker (aunt); (- Teresa Parker (sister) ) (- William Fitzpatrick (maternal grandfather, killed) )
Address: - grew up on: 20 Ingram Street, Forest Hills, Queens - currently living in: Queens
Core personality traits: - loner - neurotic (anxiety, fear, jealously, loneliness, worry, envy, frustration) - funny and witty, yet respectful (uses humor as defense/coping mechanism and to distract an opponent) - strong willed, brave - nerdy/geeky - shy, socially awkward - caring, loyal, kind, trusting, considerate - always worried, cautious, hopeful
Intelligence: - he graduated Midtown high with the highest scholastic average in the school's history - Octavius stated that Peter's “smarter than all of them” - Peter’s more intelligent than anyone he knows and he doesn't understand why Peter doesn't use all of his intellect - Peter's IQ is 250, making his position in the Highest IQ Ranks of Marvel characters in the top 5 (it's a made up universe, ok)
Equipment:
Costume: - in the early days after the spider bite when peter was making money via wrestling, peter made a costume because a TV producer told him it would sell as an act along with the wrestling - he created a mask to avoid the embarrassment if he lost a match, later it served him to protect his identity and hide his fear during fights
Utility Belt: - a utility belt holding extra clips of webbing (later: Spider-Tracers, Spider-Signal), placed on his waist under the suit (- recently upgraded to hold cartridges of different types of webbing, freeze capsules, new Spider-Tracers as well as a newly upgraded Spider-Signal that has a UV light setting for forensic analysis.) (- in the MCU, the belt was changed into clips on the hip height of the suit)
Web-shooters: - he first created the web-shooters so they can give him the advantage over pro-wrestlers - they're made of materials that don't trip metal detector alarms (the material changes as the comics go, it's plastic, carbon fiber, and so on) - they're pressure sensitive - work only when peter taps on them twice very quickly with his middle and ring finger. the pressure, though, is really big, given the super strength. in that way, the web-shooters don't go off in a fight or when he shakes someone's hand. it also means that an average human wouldn't be able to use them, given that they need a certain degree of pressure put on the trigger. - over the years Peter's learned to use the web-shooters in more ways than just shooting single strings - he can make a parachute, web up a cast for a broken arm, a shield, and more and more variations he needs at the moment - from marvel.com: “the webbing [is a shear-thinning liquid (virtually solid until a shearing force is applied to it, rendering it fluid) whose exact formula is as yet unknown, but is related to nylon. On contact with air, the long-chain polymer knits and forms an extremely tough, flexible fiber with extraordinary adhesive properties. The web fluid's adhesive quality diminishes rapidly with exposure to air. (Where it does not make contact with air, such as the attachment disk of the web-shooter, it remains very adhesive.) After about one to two hours, certain imbibed esters cause the solid form of the web fluid to dissolve into a powder. Because the fluid almost instantly sublimates from solid to liquid when under shear pressure, and is not adhesive in its anaerobic liquid/solid phase transition point, there is no clogging of the web-shooter's parts."
Superpowers:
[fun fact no2: he's holding back in every fight and on daily basis - both in the intellect and physical departments.]
Mutations: - he's got harder bones and tougher skin, hard for a syringe to pin through - his organs' tissue is most probably stronger to not get squashed under the pressure of impact forces (such as g-forces while he's swinging)
Strength: - he can bench press up to 10 tons but it was stated that it’s the average strength he uses - he's holding back a lot (supporting the weight of the Daily Bugle building, landing a private jet with a landing weight between 175,000-215,000 pounds, breaking through Iron Man's armor, even breaking through eight of Doctor Octopus' carbonadium tentacles, lifting a large pile of iron-debris equivalent to the weight of a locomotive approximately 130 tons) - he can jump to a height of several stories in a single bound - he’s strong enough to knock out people with normal durability with as little as a tap to the head - he can throw a human sized and weight object across, like, New York
Speed, agility, reflexes: - his perfect sense of balance is complemented by the generally elastic nature of his body - he can adjust his position by instinct, which enables him to balance himself on virtually any object - he can outrun moving cars - according to the comics, he can run 70-115mph - it was stated that he can go around 120 mph when swinging the fastest he can - he's agile and quick enough that in a combat fight the foe can only see a blur, dodging attacks and bullets the second they’re put in motion - according to the official bios, his heightened reflexes are about 40 times better than the ones of an average human (with the help of spider-sense, he can dodge a bullet before it’s even shot)
Spider-sense: ( a form of unconscious precognition / extra-sensory perception tuned to danger or threats that might cause him physical or mental injury) - it can make Peter feel off when his loved ones are in danger - it can differ a loved one/a very close friend and a foe (best example: Aunt May once sneaked up on Spider-Man and smashed a vase on his head) - it can help Peter navigate in the dark - it’s a bit off and overwhelmed and Peter doesn’t react to it right when he’s very tired or distracted or when there's too much danger around (like in a big fights with many opponents and weapons) - when it goes off and “buzzes” without imminent and instant danger, Peter may think it’s just gone a bit bonkers, therefore he doesn’t react it much. - it helps with instinctive shooting webs at places that won’t crumble under Peter’s weight - it reduces stuff like the need to look sideways when crossing the street or the need to cover up 100% when Peter changes in an alleyway - Peter was banned from playing poker with F4 because the spider-sense helps him detect when someone is bluffing - sometimes it takes control over peter when there has to be less thinking and more reacting done in a fight - it can hurt peter when it's triggered hard enough
Healing factor: - he can heal from bullet wounds, concussions, broken or sprained bones, and third-degree burns in a matter of days - his body produces less fatigue toxins than ordinary humans which allows him to exert himself for days - he can go a couple of days with no sleep; - he's got a weirdly high tolerance to radiation - he can hold his breath for eight minutes or more
Metabolism: - he’s got a bottomless belly - high metabolism means he needs more food to function, but then again he can go without food because of the healing factor - he can even shrug off some toxins - the toxin resistance makes it harder for someone to knock him out with toxins (such as drugs, for example)
Enhanced senses: - he’s got enhanced sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste - they can be as much of help as of a nightmare. each of his senses was enhanced which means he can hear his neighbors as they roll over in their bed, but going to a concert isn't that fun
Wall-crawling: - according to Spider-Man Vol 1 #26 it’s a mutagenic, cerebellum-wide alteration of his engrams resulting in the ability to mentally control the flux of inter-atomic attraction (electrostatic force) between molecular boundary layers - which basically means electrostatic attraction between Peter’s skin and a solid surface - it’s mentally controlled
Quotes/mottos:
“That's not why you do it. You do it 'cause it's the right thing to do. [...] Now it's my turn. [...] I'm going to give it my all. [...] I'll never quit.”
“With great there must also come great responsibility.”
“Life sucks sometimes... but it's always worth living.“
“Everyone can be saved.”
Other:
- the Spider-Man mask supposedly muffles and changes Peter’s voice enough to be unrecognizable - Peter’s a NY Mets fan - Peter’s witty personality works on every hero’s nerve except for Deadpool (Wolverine one stated that being in company of one of these two is a nightmare, and being in company of both of them is one of the worst things he’s gone through) and Tony - the adhesive skin allows Peter’s mask to stick to his face in case someone tried to pull the mask off - he’s a skilled photographer.

[IDW Skywarp Headcanon]
More about his awful comments/attitude towards others
I know I’ve written about this before but I cant seem to find it anywhere on my blog. I was rereading the original comic series and thought I’d elaborate a little bit more than what I had previously wrote. I was going to include a snippet from Unicron #2
Skywarp: “Among others. Could you try bumbling into trouble a little closer to the mainland next time? This was decidedly inconvenient.” Helix: “I think he means ‘Glad you guys are okay. Sorry it took so long to reach you.’ Isn’t that right, Skywarp?” Skywarp: “I suppose. I would have been more annoyed if we had come all this way and they were already dead.” Helix: “Do you actually know when you’re being awful?” Skywarp: “Almost always. Fortunately, showing up and being remarkable are more important to being a G.I. Joe than unnecessary human pleasantries.”
Skywarp mentions that he knows when he is being awful with his comments and just overall to others when Helix calls him out on it after just saving part of his team. This team he has been with for a few years and is close to them, even Rock. Going through the comments, he makes snarky ass comments towards Rock and doesn’t give a shit about what his friend thinks either. I’ll come back to Rock in a bit here. Some of his comments towards Rock are rather hilarious in the way Skywarp is portrayed doing them. Not to say Rock deserves his shitty attitude. But later on, they become better and closer friends.
Even though he is no longer a Decepticon, he still puts duty above everything else, even if it means stepping on others toes or hurting others feelings. Thing is, Skywarp doesn’t care. He feels being blunt is better than beating around the bush or sugarcoating things. He will tell others straight up what he feels and doesn’t give a shit about what it might do.
Another example is he even says this to Thundercracker, whom he hasn’t seen in a decade or more.
Thundercracker: “Last time I saw you, you shot me in the face.” Skywarp: “Eh, you deserved it.”
Like jeezus straight to his face. I think it was like the second sentence he said to Thundercracker after not seeing him for YEARS. Like harsh much?
So pretty much no one can hide from this. The one thing I have noticed, his snarky comments seem to back off once there’s a tighter bond between himself and whomever else. This happens once Skywarp has a change of heart once he realized how Rock and himself are a lot more similar than he thought. Rock repeatedly tells Skywarp about being alone but he finally realizes this at one important moment. Rock decides to own up to his mistakes of paralyzing Grand Slam and wants to sacrifice his life to blow up the Fatal Fluffies in hopes to get rid of his guilt but its also a sense of pride from him. Skywarp decides to stay back with Rock and decides to stay even when the detonator goes off--surprise surprise, he saves Rock and their bond grows close.
Here’s some of their conversations between one another just to show you: You can skip all the way down to see my final thoughts.
---------------------------------------------------------------- GI Joe #1: Rock: Hey, uhh, Skywarp… I was wondering… seeing as we’re teammates… you think I could ride back with you? Skywarp: Are you asking me…to open up my cockpit… and allow you to climb inside of me? Rock: Umm.. yes? Skywarp: Jets off Rock: Looks like I’m with you again.
GI Joe #4
Skywarp: “Look at them. Squabbling in the dirt like… like insects! They can’t do anything. They can accomplish nothing… without me!” Rock: “Hey Skywarp… Instead of waiting for transpo, I was thinking that if you don’t mind, maybe we could.. you know.” Skywarp: Squints hard and jets off Rock: “Jerk.”
Gi Joe #5 Skywarp: “Tell me… you geeks got your data…?” Skywarp: “This isn’t working! I’m tired of you insects leaning on me! Why am I the only one— GAAAH!” Covergirl: “Don’t worry, Skywarp…the calvary’s arrived!” Skywarp: “Now you cowards show up, after sending me ahead.” Rock: “Hey now… I offered to ride with you.” Skywarp: “You know my feelings on that.” Skywarp: “Are you even helping at all?!” Rock: “Honestly? Not really. But if you’d let me ride with—ooofh-!” Skywarp: “Gahhh!” Covergirl: “Skywarp! Come in! Do you read us?!” Skywarp: Khhkkthhhkkt Rock: “Skywarp! Are… are you ok?” Skywarp: “kkhkt No…But I will be there once we will that thing. Were you getting emotional, you sentimental insect?” Rock: “What? I was… No…”
GI Joe #6 Skywarp: “Hrmph. I’ll be the judge of that. Crude ugly thing. If this is the best you can do, no wonder you can’t fix me.” Roadblock: “Four Joes. Skywarp counts.”
Rock: Turns into this monster from the Fatal Fluffies Skywarp: “I know what this is really about...” Rock: “Hunh?” Skywarp: “...You’re sad I wouldn’t give you a ride. But don’t worry, you’ll get what you want...When i carry you out in pieces.”
GI Joe #7 Skywarp: Is fighting mega-Rock and knows to be gentle and junk. “You are as arrogant as the rest of them! Even enlarged! even with horns and claws! You are nothing but an insec--Urlkh--!” Is being choked out.
Skywarp: “Hey! You watch your mouth!”
Rock: “I know. That’s why I’m volunteering. I’ve done enough damage more than enough. Let me redeem myself please.” Skywarp: “Sure but you aren’t going alone. Someone needs to defend your position while you set up the bomb.” Rock: “But I.. I threw you into the mole pod. the explosion was..” Skywarp: “Yeah, so another one doesn’t scare me much, besides...as soon as the bombs in place, before you hit the button... I”m getting out of here.”
GI Joe #8 Rock: “Almost read! You gotta jet!” Skywarp: “You’ll be overrun before you can hit it! Besides...It’s an honor to stand by your side. You are a true warrior.” Rock: “No...I’m a Joe. We both are.” Skywarp saves Rock by letting him ride inside of his cockpit in order to get away from the blast.
Gi Joe #9 Rock: “He wouldn’t let me use the radio.” Skywarp: “You haven’t earned the privilege!” Rock: “Whatever. You ready for the blast beat?” Skywarp: “Do we have to call it that?” Skywarp and Rock: “Yoooooooo Joooooooe!” Rock: “Thanks to Skywarp! Hes letting me ride with him!” Skywarp: “Once! Only once!”
GI Joe First Strike #1
Skywarp: “You need to get him his own jet!”
Scarletts Strike Force 1 Rock: Skywarp, I”m serious! Seriously! Doc: You know he’s the only one who can put up with your grouchy metal butt.. Skywarp: I thought you liked-- Doc: Nope Skywarp: .... Fine Rock: Hey! Piggyback ride! Skywarp: Start using that shotgun or I’m doing barrel rolls!
---- This is where Skywarps attitude really changes. -------
Rock: And they were chanting this name...glub? golob..goolub? Hey! Are you even listening to me? Skywarp: Its a boring story about something that didn’t actually happen! Why would I listen to it?! Rock: Because it’s stressing me out, man. It felt...different.. Skywarp: Different from your other dreams? Rock: Yeah dude Skywarp: Different from your Jem dreams? Rock: Come on man.. Skywarp: A holograms fan. You’re not metal. Rock: They have some serious riffs, alright!?
Scarletts Strike Force #2
Skywarp: Can you fix my teleportation? Or are you techgeeks just as worthless as everyone else in the Lemuria? Rock: Dude, I’m standing right here. Hey man can I help? Grand Slam: I’ve got it Rock. You only ruined the bottom half of me. Skywarp: Getting m teleportation fixed is the only reason I threw in with you insects! why havent you fixed it yet? You’ve been trying and failing since the EDC! Grand Slam: Like I told you: We don’t have the tech, or the knowledge. or the materials.
Scarletts Strike Force #3 Skywarp: Yeah. Me. And you’re welcome. Don’t act so shocked. you insects think a giant robot doesn’t know his way around a rudimentary geothermal generator? You’ve been recruited. We’ll rendezvous in DC. You have three minutes to find yourselves a ride before surveillance is back up. Helix: Aren’t you letting people ride inside of you now? Skywarp: Only Rock ‘n Roll!
Unicron #2 The first set of quotes goes right here in events wise.
----------------------------------------------------------------
This is the end of their interactions. I know I didn’t show everything but it shows a huge chunk of how you can see how Skywarp is only “nice” to Rock really because in his optics, he isn’t respected by some of the others, especially Grand Slam. So in his mindset, why does he have to be nice if he doesn’t have the respect?
He figures he lost his respect towards Thundercracker (or rather TC lost respect for Skywarp) because of what he’d done to him so he resets back to being an ass. He thinks their history doesn’t matter anymore, so he resorts to just tell him straight-up. Perhaps he was always straight up before their meeting with Starscream and he’s resorting back to his normal or preset attitude/maturity. That all of what has gone on from him shooting TC out of the sky onwards, smacked him so hard it woke him up from this “fantasy.” If that makes sense?? I’m tired and rambling.
Deep down, I truly believe he cares but he isn’t going to show that side. He needs to put duty before anything else because that’s the motto Skywarp lives by. You can see a lot of this change in him throughout the entire series but it really sets out from AHM series onwards. His whole attitude flips and starts to really develop his character and we see this. I have a feeling he didn’t used to be like this but what he’s done in his life has shaped him to act in this way. Perhaps its a way of not letting others get close to him. It might very well be a defense mechanism. Who knows, we truly won’t know canon wise since the series ended.
THANKS FOR BEING HERE FOR MY HEADCANON AND RAMBLE OF THOUGHTS.

—————————————————————
“Who the hell are you?” The rugged hair male asked while you sat in the corner of his rundown apartment. You sheepishly smiled taking the spoonful of pudding that you’d found in his ridge out of your mouth. “Nice to see you again Mister soldier.” You said making the male narrow his eyes at you. You reached over opening the blinds letting the light in the dark corner revealing who you were.
The male softened his face remembering you from the river. He’d dragged Steve to the rivers bank where he didn’t think anyone would be. That’s when he saw you there running to Steve to try and save the captain. He remembered you so vividly because you had reached out for his metal hand making him instinctively turn ready to attack. He stopped suddenly with widened ice blue eyes at the sight infront of him.
You had tears in your eyes making them sparkle lightly. One hand was gripped around his hand gently and the other was protectively wrapped around Steve. What had caught his blue gaze was the smile that was on your face. “T-Thank you.” You sniffled lightly and smiled widely making his eyes narrow in confusion. “T-Thank you. For saving the C-C-Captain..” You released his hand to cradle an unconscious Steve. He couldn’t help but to stare at you in confusion. Not only did you not attack him, you thanked him, and paid him no mind not worrying if he’d attack you. You were obviously different.
“You remember me don’t you?” You said smiling lightly to the male who nodded his head softly. “You’re the girl who thanked me. You’re a Stark.” He said still a little on edge. He didn’t trust people so naturally that included you. For now. “Captains been looking for you. I only found you because I’ve been searching none stop for weeks now running off a few hours of sleep. So what-” “You can’t tell him I’m here. Or at least not yet.” He said interrupting you. You knew Steve would scold you to no end if he ever heard that you’d found Bucky but kept it from him. Yet there was something about the man that made you ready to take that scolding with no questions asked.
Your visits with Bucky were usually twice a week for an hour or two with the two of you just talking. Granted he did most of the listening but you began to notice little by little he would smile at your cheesy jokes. Then visits turned to five times a week and more then five hours. From cooking for the man to showing him music and movies he’d missed out on since the thirties. He also began to notice how much he’d grown attached to you.
You’d returned one day with a bruise on your eye and a gash on your cheekbone. He insisted you go get medical attention but you had to remind the male you were an Avenger. He remembered the feeling of rage wanting to hurt the person that had done that to you. He began to realize how much he looked forward to hearing your contagious laugh, to see your (E/C) eyes sparkle when you smiled. Hell he loved seeing you accidentally fall asleep and the drool that always fell from your lips. He loved you & he could never forget the day you admitted you loved him too.
“You’ve been coming here more often. Not complaining but don’t you miss hanging out with the others?” He asked laying on the beat up mattress he had on the ground next to the table. “Not really. I love them all but when I’m with you, you make me feel.. okay.” He turned to see you reading a DC comic book yet again. You’d seen him turn so you placed the book down turning to face him as well. “I mean okay. Okay in the sense that no matter what happens I’ll always be able to rely on you. And you kinda’ make everything feel like it’s going to be okay.”
Once again you shined him that smile he saw that day on the river. The smile that made him fall in love with you on sight. Without much thought he placed his warm hand on the side of your face stroking your cheekbone softly. “You make me feel everything again.” He gave you a small smile making your heart flutter. He leaned forward boldly putting his lips on yours gently. Something you’d been waiting for him to do for months now. You responded kissing him back softly as you could. That night consisted of nothing of sleep but sweet fondue instead.
That was the night you both decided you needed one another. “Promise me you’ll stay.” You murmered out half asleep laying you’re head on Bucky’s heaving chest. A smile came to his face as he saw you nearly asleep. He leaned forward placing a soft gentle kiss on your forehead. “ ‘Till the end of the line.”
—————————————————————
“Where did they go?”
You murmured to yourself lightly softly tippy towing around the darkness. Of course only you could lose a billionaire, a walking fossil, and a fossil with a metal arm in a scary place like this. You and Tony had met up with Cap and Bucky which shocked the duo but gave them a feeling of slight relief. The two war hero’s didn’t expect to have any back up considering the fact that half the avengers were either hurt or in a floating prison. You heard the snarky voice of your older brother causing you to follow it.
“An empire toppled by its enemies can be rebuilt. An empire that is destroyed from the inside, now that’s something unfixable.” You ran into the room expecting to see a dozen super assassins going toe to toe with the trio you’d lost. You didn’t expect for all the assassins to already be dead with a bullet in their head. Your hand came to your mouth that was hanging open while you fought the water that wanted to fill your eyes. Sure you were an Avenger, but you were far too soft for that title.
“Ah. The pride and joy of the Stark Family. The only Avenger who cries when any life is lost on either side. The one who wants nothing more than peace but her only power brings nothing but destruction. How nice of you to join us (Y/n) Stark.” The three men turned to you in concern already knowing you were about to cry. You quickly paced over to stand in between Tony and Bucky facing the man know as Zemo. “You can’t hide in there forever.” Steve said to the male who never tore his gaze away from you.
Bucky saw your face filled with worry and sadness. “Should’ve stayed on the jet kid.” He whispered out to you rubbing his metal hand soothingly on your back. The familiar nickname and action caused you turn your head to the male trying to give a reassuring smile. Zemo’s eyes never wavered as he watched the interaction. Only a smile coming across his once emotionless face. He knew. He’d already won.
The small monitor that was in front of both you and Tony turned on with an imagine that made your blood freeze. “I know that road.” Tony murmured out. A simple looking road. A road both you and your brother visited more times than you were both willing to admit. “Tony that’s..” Your eyes widened to the brim seeing the date on the corner of the screen. “What is this!?!” The oldest Stark shouted making you swallow the knot that formed in your throat.
The familiar Cadillac you’d ridden in as a child came into the frame crashing harshly into a tree. A car that your father Howard took care of almost as if it were a child all on its own. Steve’s gaze went back and forth between your eyes and Tony’s. Bucky’s eyes wanted to look away from your (E/C) eyes but they simply couldn’t. A stalky muscular male on a motorcycle came into the frame effortlessly walking towards the car.
The figure was far too familiar to you. As much as you wanted to deny it you instantly recognized the man. You shook your head lightly making Bucky glance towards the ground but eventually looked back to you.
Howard crawled weakly out of the Cadillac pleading using a voice you’d only heard only once. “P-Please help. Help my wife.” The soldier all in black pulled your fathers head up harshly making the older man gasp in pain. The look on your fathers face said it all. “Sargent Barnes?” The audio was subtle but that was enough to make tears form in your eyes. The next part of the audio caused Tony and your hearts to break into a billion pieces. “Howard? Howard??”
Tony’s gaze left the monitor glaring at Bucky who lowered his head momentarily but looked back at the oldest Stark. Your sight was blurry from all the tears that you didn’t want to let fall. The sight of Bucky smashing his metal closed fist straight into your fathers face caused you to jump. You shut your eyes tightly making your tears to fall as you instinctively reached for Tony’s hand gripping it tightly. Tony looked at your figure with hatred for the man you had naively trusted.
-
“Hey big brother? What time is mommy and daddy coming home?” Your innocent childish voice asked a much younger Tony.
-
The memory made Tony wrap his hand around yours tightly looking back at the monitor. With each loud echoing hit the soldier delivered to your fathers face you flinched staggering your breathing. Something that had broken Bucky far much more than anything else he’d ever seen and done as the Winter Soldier. “Howard??” Your mothers pained voice said one last time. The soldier threw your fathers now dead body into the front seat of the car staging the car accident.
You opened your (E/C) eyes to see the man you’d fallen in love with ending your mother’s life. One metal hand gripping her neck tightly to stop her breathing. The video ended with the soldier coming in front of the camera shooting it. There was no question anymore. The man you loved killed your parents. Bucky killed your mom and dad.
Tony tried to rush towards Bucky but was instantly stopped by Cap. “It wasn’t him Tony.” You turned to Steve questionably wondering something that had been bothering you. You’d noticed out the corner of your eyes while watching the video, that Steve hadn’t responded to the video at all. “Captain. D-Did you know?” You said just above a whisper but still loud enough to hear the pain in your voice.
“I didn’t know it was him.” Steve said making you turn back to the monitor that now was replaying the video. “Don’t bullshit us Rogers!! Did you know!?” Tony said turning with hurt towards Steve. You narrowed your eyes slowly dozing off staring at the video. Bucky noticed your face seeing you were no longer paying attention anymore. Of course the only female that made him feel like everything would be okay, the female he fell in love with, was the female he hurt the most.
—————————————————————
“Daddy guess what! I got an actual one hundred on my science test without cheating this time!” You said showing the paper proudly to your father who narrowed his eyes at your statement. “This time?” He asked while Tony bursted out laughing. “Excellent job sweetheart! Umm let’s try not cheating on tests for the rest of the year okay?” The angelic voice of your mother said.
-
“Mommy why can’t Tony just stay with us instead of going to smart school?” You asked with tears in your (E/C) eyes watching your brother drive off to return to boarding school. “Your brothers going to make you a proud little sister that’s why sweetheart.” She said kissing your cheek softly. “He already did.” You murmured scrunching your face trying not to cry again. “(Y/n) you’re too young to understand.” You turned to your father sitting on a leather black couch. Once again looking unfazed by your brothers departure. “You and your brother are gonna’ be capable of great things.”
-
“You cannot sleep with us. Go to bed.” Your father said with a hand on his temple seeing you already in his king sized bed. “Monsters? Or bad dream?” Your mother said crawling in on the other side of you tossing the clean white comforter over the two of you. “None. I just wanted to sleep with you guys.” You said laying down patting the empty side next to you signaling your father to lay next to you. “Fine. You better not drool tonight! You drool on these sheets I’m throwing you in the trash can.”
-
Howard woke up the next morning on his stomach which was his usual sleeping position. However he felt a small hand gripping his ear, a wetness on his back and a tiny leg kept twitching kicking his arm off the bed. “(Y/n) Elizebeth Stark.” He mumbled with irritation but didn’t bother moving not wanting to wake you.
-
“Last time I’m gonna warn you Anthony Edward Stark! Stop teaching my daughter your deteriorated language!” Your father shouted making both Maria and Tony turn to see a seething Howard. “What are you talking about?” Tony said trying not to smile. “She fell down the stairs again at Stark Industries and instead of crying she shouted profanities!” Maria and Tony both now tried their hardest not to laugh. “Like what?” Their question was answered when you dashed through the kitchen in a captain America costume. “Oh fuck!”
“(Y/N) ELIZEBETH STARK!”
-
“Daddy! Mommy! Before you leave!” You shouted to your parents who were going on a small business trip making them stop. “I just wanted to say I love you.” You said hugging your mother who bent down kissing you’re forehead softly. “I love you too sweetheart. We’ll be back soon.” Howard bent down kissing the top of your hair ruffling it shortly after. Never once had your father ever said he loved you or Tony but deep down you knew he did.
-
“Ou! How about when you get back we can have a family movie night?” You said happily to your parents who again were going on a business trip. However instead of leaving you with Jarvis they left Tony incharge. “Sure. Sweetheart sounds great.” Your mother said laughing softly at how happy a small thing made you. “Sounds good darling, keep an eye on your brother and make sure he doesn’t get himself killed.” Your father said jokingly while they left yet again.
Difference is, they never returned this time.
-
“Tony, (Y/n) you're too young to understand this right now, so I thought I would put it on film for you. I built this for you. And some day you'll realize that it represents a whole lot more than people's inventions, it represents my life's work. This is the key to the future. I'm limited by the technology of my time, but one day you'll both figure this out. And when you do, you will change the world. What is, and always will be, my greatest creation... is the two of you.”
-
“Sargent Barnes?”
Bucky, Steve, and Tony had all began fighting while you were blanked out. Explosions didn’t make you budge but those memories took their toll on you. It brought something out of you that not even you knew was there. Bucky and Steve had the advantage on Tony both coordinating an attack on him. Two against one. Bucky had Tony pinned against the wall with his metal hand around the arc reactor attempting to either crush it or pull it out. Which would’ve resulted in another Stark’s death by his hands.
“Howard? Howard??”
Steve’s eyes widened when Bucky was enveloped in a light blue shade and thrown harshly across to the thick wall cracking it slightly. “Bucky!” The trio turned to you seeing you in a place they knew to never get you in. Like Wanda you had telekinetic powers to some extent only trick was you weren’t as good or as strong as she was. Nor could you control it as they’d just witnessed. However your energy was more or a blue shade instead of scarlet. “It wasn’t him (Y/n)!”
Tony came in and began attacking Steve leaving Bucky to you. The wounded soldier looked up to you in sorrow gulping a knot down his throat. “Baby please. Please try and understand.” Bucky said slowly getting to his feet with his hands up.
“You and your brother are gonna’ be capable of great things.”
The tears in your eyes continued to fall down your face while a black vein popped out from the right side on your face. “SHUT UP!” You said kicking the man in the gut sending him back a bit. He saw no getting through to you, rightfully so. He had no choice but to either get you to calm down forcefully or just fight back to stay alive.
“I just wanted to sleep with you guys.”
“IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!” You shouted mindlessly throwing punches covered in your light blue energy around them. Bucky doged your punches left and right looking for an opening. You swung one heavy left losing your balance giving the man his opening. He got your hands pulling them back as he stood in back of you holding you in place. “(Y/n) listen to me!”
“Last time I’m gonna warn you Anthony Edward Stark! Stop teaching my daughter your deteriorated language!”
You shouted loudly focusing all your energy into your hands making them shine bright blue. Little by little you pulled your body as close as you could to Bucky’s. You released another loud scream when you hit your stomach sending the blue wave of force through your body sending Bucky flying backwards to the wall yet again.
“(Y/n) Elizebeth Stark.”
Bucky charged at you throwing punches left and right. You had managed to stop one punch using your telekinesis. A punch he threw with his metal arm which was now being held in place. “Tony!” You shouted holding the males arm up forcefully as hard as you could. Tony seeing what you had planned fired his own energy from the arc reactor tearing away the soldiers arm he used to kill both your parents.
“Daddy! Mommy! Before you leave! I just wanted to say I love you.”
Bucky and Steve both stared dumbfoundedly at the place where his prosthetic arm once was. Steve in horror and Bucky with shock and sadness. Within a matter of seconds the Stark siblings were back on the attack. You had focused your energy into your right leg trying to stomp Bucky’s head. He however was managing to dive and dodge them all.
“Ou! How about when you get back we can have a family movie night?”
Feeling irritated you felt an unspeakable amount of force push through your veins. A feeling you’d never felt before. You held your palms out towards Bucky only expecting the usual small amount of blue energy to push him down. However this amount came from your rage and adrenaline so it was much more than a little. Bucky was sent on the opposite side of the small area where you were fighting at. “Bucky!” Steve shouted trying his best to get Tony to give him an opening.
“Tony, (Y/n) you're too young to understand this right now, so I thought I would put it on film for you. I built this for you. And some day you'll realize that it represents a whole lot more than people's inventions, it represents my life's work. This is the key to the future. I'm limited by the technology of my time.”
Whatever force you had used drained Bucky of what little energy he had so he laid on his back against the cold ground. He didn’t have the power to fight anymore and quite frankly he didn’t want to. He’s always been fighting. He figured if he had to die he would rather die by your hands than anyone else’s. In the matter of seconds you were on top of him. The beautiful shade of (E/C) eyes were gone from your eyes and was replaced by the bright neon blue before him. Your beautiful (S/C) skin was covered in sweat, a few cuts, bruises, and the dark black vein that cracked the right side of your face.
“But one day you'll both figure this out. And when you do, you will change the world.”
“We never got to say goodbye!” You seethed making him stare at you in horror. He simply wanted you to kill him already. Death to him would’ve been better than hearing what his actions had caused. “They never got to see us grow up!! They’ll never get to see us get married! They never...” Your blue force began forming around your hands that were gripping his jacket collar tightly. “They’ll never get to hear us say we loved them one last time... AND ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!” You shouted lifting your right hand filled with bright blue energy to punch his face in as he did to your father.
“What is, and always will be, my greatest creation... is the two of you.”
Your hand stopped a centimeter away from Bucky’s face. Now with all traces of blue energy gone from you completely. Your eyes were back to their regular color, the back vein slowly began to vanish as you stared down at the man who looked as confused as you did. Your palm was shaking with rage. You wanted nothing more than to kill him yet....
“You make me feel everything again.”
“I can’t do it.” You whispered out in defeat slouching down to be sitting on Bucky’s midsection. Your eyes began to fill with tears again as you lowered your hand to lay gently on the side of Bucky’s face. “I want you dead but I can’t do it myself. The thought of Tony or anyone else killing you makes my heart hurt and my head spin. I-I can’t...” you whispered out before crying all over again. Bucky leaned his face into your palm letting his only arm left wrap around your leg reassuringly.
“ ‘till the end of the line.”
The sound of a loud cracking sound caught your attention forgetting you two weren’t alone. When you turned your head you expected Tony to be winning but the sight before you made your heart skip a few beats. Cap had his shield raised looking as if he was going to plant it right on Tony’s face which was exposed. Tony had blood smeared on his face and his only way to defend himself was his armored arm which was barley able to stay up. “CAPTAIN NO!!” You screamed simultaneously as the man brought the shield down to impale the arc reactor. “TONY!”
“Keep an eye on your brother and make sure he doesn’t get himself killed.”
You rushed over to your bother cradling him helping him off the ground to lay on your lap. “I’m so sorry Tony. I-I couldn’t do it.” You whisperered holding onto him tighter making the man chuckle at your words. “Me either.” Your attention went straight to Cap and Bucky who were now both limping away. As to where they were going you didn’t know nor did you want to. You couldn’t bring yourself to kill either of them but it didn’t mean all was forgiven. It was far from it.
“Our father made that shield Ca.. Steve!” You shouted making the duo freeze. Both shocked at the fact you had called Steve by his first name which was something you’d never done. You had the most respect for Steve. You had always admired him and even wanted to be just like him when you were a little girl, you had never even called him Cap’ but now he was just Steve.
“You don’t deserve that shield!” Tony shouted making the former captain lower his head. The shield that symbolized more than freedom was thrown on the cold ground making an echo. Without another word both Bucky and Steve walked into the abandoned building. Bucky turned to glance at you one last time taking in an image of you like this to remind himself just how much he didn’t deserve you. But he was a selfish man and had slipped something into your back pocket when you were sitting on top of him.
Inside of your back pocket was a ring that you’d find later, which again would bring you nothing but tears. A reminder that the first person you’ve loved was the same person who deserved nothing less of what he’d done onto others. You placed your head onto Tony’s arc reactor hugging the only person who you felt you had left. Tony never knew what to do in these situations so he only rubbed the back of your head softly. Something your mother would do to get you to stop crying.
For the first time since your parents had died you two felt completely and utterly alone.
“What is, and always will be, my greatest creation... is the two of you.”

As in electron
So I guess before Bludgeon and Thunderwing and Galvatron and Scorponok and Overlord and Ratbat and Soundwave and Straxus and Shockwave there was this guy in charge of the Decepticons called Megatron? And it turns out there's been a couple of toys of him? Who knew?
Oh, I'm such a wag. But to be honest, I don't really have a huge amount to say about Megatron as a character. He was pretty much before my time, y'see. I was born in 1984, and by the time I was old enough to understand Transformers the era of Megatron was long, long gone. I've already spoken about how Rodimus was 'my' Prime, and even though Optimus Prime had been thoroughly returned in Powermaster form in 1988, and Megatron did make appearances in the Marvel comic throughout it's run even after death (a sort of clone, a body swap, an actual resurrection all clown-carred together into a fantastically convoluted mess) I always tended to see the original Optimus/Megatron years as a sort of prehistory, the Before-Times when the older kids were into Transformers and I was more into wearing nappies. It's in our nature as children to want to take ownership of the things we like, and a previous generation's toys can have something of an off-putting nature to them. Child me would have killed for a Galvatron toy, but turned his nose up at a Megatron.
So, roughly 4 million years later I'm an adult collector putting in a preorder for MMC Tyrannotron, confident that this will be The One Megatron that I can keep forever. See, the other problem with Optimus Prime and Megatron is that these days they receive so many new toys that I'm worried about being tempted to keep upgrading to a newer model. But this one was a keeper, a high-end third-party toy from Mastermind Creations, based on his latest iteration in the IDW comics. Yes, I thought to myself, this is a keeper. And then it was announced that the IDW universe would be ending. Hnnng.
Still a great Megatron. A great look. And while it's both unofficial and twice the price of the recent Flame Toys model kit, it does at least transform. Sort of. The problem is of course that during the entire run where Megatron took this shape, he never once actually transformed, not once. So it was pretty much down to MMC to decide what form that big hunky dadbod should turn into. And they came up with... a thing. Sort of a thing. It's not entirely clear.
It's got treads rather than wheels, an elongated nosecone which doubles as an absurdly oversized fusion cannon (hard to have a go at Tarn's double cannon any more when yours is the size of an entire other person) and tiny little wings near the back. Is it a tank? A jet? It's impossible to properly categorise it, because it looks like it was made up as they went along. Like, they put a bunch of transforming joints in, folded it up a few times, and took what they ended up with and slapped a few vehicle mode bits on. Yeah, as a transforming transformer, this is not a highlight. But even so, it does have a hell of a lot of presence, able to trundle down a motorway taking up all three lanes at once before kerblamming a path through anything that happened to be in its way. Lorries, cars, Little Chefs, that sort of thing.
I feel considerably more attachment for the IDW version of G1 Megs than anything coming from the cartoon. This was a character with an incredibly well-defined arc, far more so than Optimus Prime's, even if that arc was largely retrofitted in after the fact. The social-revolutionary-poet-turned-murderous-warlord became a far more identifiable character than the designated bad guy that filled TV screens back in 1984, and aspects of this characterisation quickly became absorbed into the mainstream, in Prime and now Cyberverse. Megatron's time in the pages of More Than Meets the Eye / Lost Light shone a spotlight on the dualistic nature of his character, and put him onto a path of... well not exactly redemption, though many people are quick to label it as such. More a journey of rediscovery, of being able to find the person you once were before things went wrong, and bring that person back. And even by the end, Megatron's 4 million years of warmongering still outweigh his 800 years of good deeds. But at least Megatron ended his time in the comic as the person he wanted to be. That's powerful stuff. Most other Megatrons go out screaming incoherently and blowing up, so it's a definite step forward.
Or, if you want to take a step back, MMC put in another surprise, because with a few swapped-out pieces you can go from his final form to the very first one he was seen in, way back in Megatron Origin. Lest we forget, this was so early in IDW's tenure with the Transformers franchise that it had originally been pitched to Dreamwave, which today looks a bit like a first draft of many of the things IDW went on to do.
The alt mode makes a lot more sense now, since the front-facing fusion cannon has been replaced with a massive mining drill, and the wings swapped out for safety-striped panels. The drill can still be fastened to his arm in robot mode, but if you want to give him a more warmongering look you can swap out the drill bit itself for another, rounder fusion cannon barrel. Again, this one is ridiculously oversized, but I actually prefer it to the modern-look cannon. Unfortunately the yellow safety stripes are still there, which does look a bit out of place if you're looking to fit the Origin cannon on the MTMTE body. You also get a new head, mixing the miner and gladiator looks from the comic, and a new chest piece. It's not a perfect reproduction, but it's nice to have bonus options to represent the beginning and end of Megatron's life.
Still though, I can't help but feel that the effort would have been better spent making the MTMTE alt mode more attractive than dual-purposing the whole thing for a different look. It's a figure first, and a transformer second, which is a real shame. You also get, rather predictably, a lightsaber based on the 1986 movie and a purple energy flail-mace-whatever-thingy because Prime and Megatron will never escape that once scene where they briefly pull melee weapons out of their sleeves. You do a party trick one time and your mates will never forget it. Anyway, the mace is crap, having a real metal chain which makes it impossible to do action poses, and I've found the lightsaber far more useful given to other characters in need of a power-up. Blitzwing likes it a lot, for example.
I mean really, I bought this bastard so that I'd never need to buy another Megatron again, and so far it's worked out. But as time goes on and the original IDW 'verse fades into history he becomes more and more of a relic of past times. Alas, etc.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #10-13 AUGUST - OCTOBER 1995 BY JIM LAWSON, ERIC TALBOT, JASON TEMUJIN MINOR, ERIC VINCENT AND ALTERED EARTH ARTS
SYNOPSIS (FROM COMIC VINE)
Casey, Shadow and April are back in their apartment. Jones is on the phone with his Mom, explaining recent events. Mr. Braunze arrives and asks Casey to take a walk with him. While the men transverse the streets of NYC, Braunze explains to Jones what's really been happening. The federal agents following April and Jones are from D.A.R.P.A., a "Black Ops" part of the C.I.A. The feds want to know why the robot was after April and they've got Raphael. Casey asks how Braunze knows all of this info, and the bald man explains that he has a gift for finding things out. Braunze then tells Casey to get his friends, because he has a proposal for them. He also assures Jones that Raph is in the hands of a group so secretive that few probably know of his existence, and Braunze will honor the Turtles desire to remain hidden.
Raphael wakes up in the hospital bed and breaks free of its binds. The mutant turtle then begins to search his surroundings, and discovers a room filled with strange, gigantic tubes, each containing some type of alien life form... one even houses a Triceraton! As Raph continues his reconnaissance, he's suddenly attacked by a huge monster. As a struggle begins, two guards enter the room and shoot both Raph and his foe with stun guns.
Braunze is meeting with the three remaining Turtles, Casey and Nobody. Braunze explains that he knows where Raph is being held, and that he'll help the group rescue their companion. Braunze also states that he can set it up so once the Turtles return to New York, no one will bother them. Leonardo states that they have no choice, they have to agree to Braunze's plan. Don isn't so sure that they should trust Braunze, so in effort to win their confidence, the bald man explains his own origin. It seems that Braunze himself had been a member of the D.A.R.P.A. back in the 1950's, and they'd performed experiments on many of their agents. A group of 18 men were given injections in hopes that their mental powers would be dramatically increased. The drugs killed some of the test subjects, but others had tremendous success. Braunze himself developed the ability to read minds and shape thoughts. Eventually, Eleven Braunze found himself in a situation where he needed to leave the C.I.A., but realized that they wouldn't let him go, due to his abilities and knowledge - so he used his powers to fake his death.
Nobody states that D.A.R.P.A. won't be happy to discover that Braunze is alive, and the ex-agent flatly states that it's his concern alone. Before departing, Braunze tells the team that they'll need to get an early start, 4 AM. He also tells them not to bother to set an alarm, as he's already implanted the wake up call into their minds.
Three days later the group is driving a van in the Nevada desert. They hide the van and set out on foot. Soon enough a helicopter appears and dive bombs past them - fortunately there's another group of people on a hilltop ahead trying to spy on D.A.R.P.A.'s operation, and the helicopter was sent to chase them away.
Braunze makes plans with the TMNT, Casey and Nobody on how to enter D.A.R.P.A.'s fortress. Braunze implants a powerful mental suggestion into Casey's mind - causing Jones to think of himself as a Schwarzenegger-like action hero who has no fear. Much to everyone's dismay, Casey even begins speaking with an Arnold accent, something even Braunze hadn't expected to happen.
Surprisingly, Braunze's plan works perfectly, as Casey takes the initiative to grab a large gun and dive off the cliff onto a passing D.A.R.P.A. troop carrier. Jones' attack causes the driver to crash, and our heroes now have the means to breach the facility.
Unfortunately it becomes quickly evident that they won't be able to covertly enter D.A.R.P.A. as two helicopters close in and begin firing on the team of rescuers. Undaunted by this development, Casey puts the pedal to the metal and literally crashes through the front gate of the base. Explosions and gunfire fill the air, as our heroes break their way deeper into the facility. Soon enough the guys discover the room that has the tubes filled with captured aliens. Braunze recognizes one of the creatures to be an old friend and frees him, just as a Triceraton escapes from his own chamber. An uneasy alliance is formed, and one more alien is unlocked from its prison and joins the fight for freedom.
Unfortunately Raphael isn't among the prisoners in this room, so the search for him continues. The unlikely group of allies go in search for weapons and find a room filled with alien technology. The Triceraton takes his opportunity to seize his sub-space homing beacon - but much to his surprise, before he can utilize the device, he finds that it's already been activated!
A Triceraton mothership is nearing the planet Earth. The commander of the craft has followed the beacon from the homing device on the D.A.R.P.A. base - but we discover that all is not well on the vessel. It seems that the Triceraton ship had been sent to trace the Transmat signal that the TMNT used to return home after the Turtles' first encounter with the saurian aliens (TMNT Volume One #6) - but something went awry during the pursuit and the Triceratons lost the signal, thus becoming lost in space. The ship had been adrift for years, slowly degenerating from lack of resources, until they discovered the signal from the homing beacon and renewed their course towards Earth. Most of the crew has since died from a virus, so all that remains now is a small band of warriors and a commander determined to fulfill his mission, regardless of the condition of his craft.
The TMNT's alien allies locate their weapons and gear up. Soon enough the group discovers where Raph is being held, and Michaelangelo breaks open the tube holding his brother. The team splits up to search for an escape route. The Triceraton and the large alien find a stairwell and begin to climb it. Almost instantly the pair is attacked by D.A.R.P.A. guards, but the aliens prevail. As soon as the coast is clear, the Triceraton fires on his companion, killing him. Michaelangelo arrives and the Triceraton claims that the humans killed their compatriot. The pair rejoin the others.
Leonardo announces that they've found an escape route through some sort of cave. As the team navigates the tunnels, they come upon a steep cliff. At the bottom of the ravine lies a monstrous starfish-like alien. Before anyone can react, the monster shoots a tentacle out of its maw that impales Nobody through the chest. The Triceraton fires at the behemoth, but it retracts its appendage and devours Nobody. Casey grabs a bomb out of Nobody's abandoned duffel bag and tosses it onto the monster lying below. The blast cripples the creature, but it also causes a cave-in. Everyone escapes being crushed (save for the monster, which is now buried in rubble). Leonardo spots a fresh hole in the roof of the cave, and everyone climbs over the debris to escape.
When Leo pokes his head out of the hole, we see dozens of soldiers, tanks and helicopters waiting for them.
The soldiers open fire and Leonardo falls from his perch near the opening - fortunately, Raph catches him. As the guys try to figure what to do, they hear a loud explosion from the surface, and when they peek out they see that the Triceratons have begun their attack on the base. A true maelstrom of violence ensues as the agents of D.A.R.P.A. battles the invading Triceraton forces.
The fight doesn't go well for the Triceratons, but the commander aboard the mothership won't recall his troops. Instead, he plans to crash the crippled craft into the surface of the Earth at Warp 8, to inflict as much damage upon the planet as possible and die with what his people consider honor.
As the Turtles and their remaining allies prepare to flee, Braunze warns the others that their Triceraton companion is a traitor. The beast fires a blast from its gun that leaves a huge gaping hole in the man's chest. As Braunze lays dying, he informs Leonardo of the Triceraton commander's suicide plan. This news enrages their former Triceraton ally, who refuses to believe that his commander would resort to such a tactic, and declares that the reptilian aliens will soon rule the Earth. As the Triceraton warrior makes his speech, a jet engine falls from the sky and explodes onto him.
Braunze's alien friend has the Turtles help him right a Jeep that had been turned over. The fellow plans to go back inside the D.A.R.P.A. base to attempt to thwart the Triceratons from crashing their ship into the Earth. Leonardo attempts to go with his alien compatriot, but a blast of air from the visitor's shoulder apparatus sends Leo flying. The alien tells Leonardo to get his friends to safety as he drives off.
The TMNT and Casey retreat to the desert.
As the alien drives the jeep, we see that Braunze is seated beside him - the man used his mental powers on the Turtles to fake his death. Braunze and his friend plan to use an "inter-phase cannon" located on the base to move the Triceraton mothership out of phase, causing it to pass through the Earth's crust and re solidify once it reaches the core - vaporizing the threat.
As the TMNT and Casey flee, we see a huge explosion erupt behind them. The guys can't outrun the blast and are vaporized themselves.
Leonardo wakes up from a dream with a start on the couch in Casey and April's apartment. Casey is cleaning up the place and Shadow is playing a Godzilla video game. Casey asks Leo if he's okay, and the Turtle asks Jones how they survived the blast and when they got back home.
"From where?" inquires Casey.
"Nevada, you idiot!" retorts the bemused Turtle.
"Hmmt." Casey shrugs, "Leo, we've never been to Nevada."
Leo sits puzzled on the couch for a time, watching Shadow play her game. The girl notices Leo's distress and comes over to him, and he picks her up.
A thought enters Leonardo's mind: "REMEMBER"
Leo goes to the window and looks out. On the street below stands Mr. Braunze.
"GOODBYE, LEO" bids the telepath, and then he walks off into the crowded New York City sidewalk.
REVIEW
This volume was cancelled and they had to finish things in a rush. But some things, I am afraid, will always going to end up unresolved. Like that giant turtle under the sewers.
It would also have been a good idea to advertise in the cover that in this issue, Nobody dies! (Nobody being a character).
Well, Nobody’s death was cheap. And that freak monster there was also kind of random. Many things in this story feel random, or like abandoned plots. April and Splinter disappear early on, and we will not see them for almost a decade (because volume 3 is non canon).
But it’s not like the story on itself is not enjoyable. The Turtles are growing apart, and this is a trend, as in Volume 4, they will spend a lot of time apart. In a a way, the turtles are not exactly teenagers anymore, and you can feel them changing and finding new sides of themselves.
Still, that ending doesn’t make much sense. You may forget what happened when a meteorite crashed to Earth, but the art implies they were hit by the blast.
Speaking of the art. IDW collected this volume, and for some reason, re-colored it. This was an odd choice as the original issues had very good color (I believe this may have had something to do with the state of the originals). If you compare the originals with the IDW recolored versions, you will see what I am talking about.
I mean, it’s not so bad, but I feel like something got lost.
Jim Lawson does his classic style here and it’s not a bad thing. But human figures usually suffer the most under his watch.
I give this story a score of 7.

So i saw Matpat’s latest video about shared universes (starting with Doom and somehow connecting it with Kingdom Hearts) and my crazy brain thought it would be a good idea to expand it even FURTHER all because he used Spider-Man to connect to Thanos in Fortnite (yes seriously)
So behold, all the shit i had to go through to make connections to everything i can find and think of
So since all Spider-Mans are in one multiverse, that means all versions of Spider-Man are canon, so let's look at two cases of alternate Spider-Mans. Theres the Japanese Spider-Man, which was created by Toei as a collab by Marvel, Toei also created Super Sentai, which has connections to Kamen Rider (Super Hero Taisen), Metal Hero (some crossover movies), and obviously Power Rangers. Power Rangers had a crossover with TMNT, which has connections to not only other versions of TMNT but also other series like Batman (basically the whole DC universe is involved), Archie, X-Files, Ghostbusters, Rabbids (they were an extra character in a fighting game, as like a promotion for the new game), and all the toons that showed up in Cartoon All-Stars, like the Smurfs, Alf, Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Winnie the Pooh (which is already tying back up to Kingdom Hearts), Muppet Babies, Looney Toons, and Ducktales.
Now Muppet Babies is part of the Muppet franchise, the Muppets are connected to Sesame Street, which opens up a can of worms for connections. Some characters cameoed in Between the Lions, Mr Rogers' Neighbor Hood, The Electric Company, Reading Rainbow, Poky Little Puppy, and a bunch of these characters appeared in a We are Family music video, which has *inhales* Bear in the Big Blue House, Barney, Arthur, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Rugrats, The Magic School Bus, SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Blue's Room, Blue's Clues, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Kim Possible, The Proud Family, LazyTown, Lilo & Stitch: the Series, Madeline,Little Bill, The Fairly OddParents, Zoom, AND a whole bunch more shows.
Obviously Jimmy Neutron and Fairly Odd Parents had a crossover (three in fact), but those other shows had crossovers too, like Rugrats having a crossover with Wild Thornberrys, Lilo and Stitch had crossovers too, they had crossovers with The Proud Family, Kim Possible, Recess, and American Dragon Jake Long. Spongebob is connected to a lot of Nicktoons shows through the bumpers on the channel and had a major crossovers with Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, Jimmy Neutron, Tak, and Invader Zim in the Nicktoons Unite games.
Looney Toons is connected to all other Hanna Barbera property, which had crossovers as well (look at Scooby Doo and Tom and Jerry, they're LOADED with crossovers with other series), as for the Looney Toons cast themselves, examples include Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pokemon (in a commercial in Kids WB), The Justice League, Wild Kratts (Kinda? The two characters, Road Runner and Wild E. Coyote, were pretty much referenced as a way to say that real life coyotes can catch up to road runners), and The Amazing World of Gumball. And Pokemon had a crossover game with Nobunaga's Ambition called Pokemon Conquest. AND Ducktales is connected to Darkwing Duck and the same goes with the reboot.
Okay now back to where we started, Power Rangers had a crossover episode with Masked Rider, which is an adaptation of Kamen Rider Black RX, Kamen Rider had a FEW crossovers with other series, like Crayon Shin-chan, Pac-Man, Osomatsu-San, Hello Kitty, Pretty Cure, and a few others. Pretty Cure only had crossovers with itself but there is one pic floating around the internet showing one of the Cures standing in front of Arresterdramon Superior Mode, so it might hint to a commercial happening during that time. Hello Kitty has a ton of crossovers with different series, such as Sonic, Cookie Run, Pac-Man, Puzzles and Dragons, Doraemon, Yokai Watch, and several others. In Osomatsu-San Hesokuri Wars, they have costumes/sets of the six brothers being yokai, magical girls, monsters, angels, knights, super heroes, greek
gods, and others. Yokai is also connected to Yokai Watch, which has it's own crossovers with other series, like Final Fantasy, Terminator, Inazuma Eleven (which had commercials that crossed over with Despicable Me), The Seven Deadly Sins, Detective Conan, Hello Kitty (which brings this back to Hello Kitty and its crossovers), Inuyasha, Professor Layton, and several others. Professor Layton had a crossover game with Ace Attorney, which has many references and a small amount of crossovers.
Now let's move on to another Spider-Man, the one from Ultimate Spider-Man, obviously he's connected to the other Marvel shows that take place in that universe, but Spider-Man had crossover episodes/specials with Phineas and Ferb and Jessie, Jessie having connections with other Disney Sit-com shows like Austin and Ally, Good Luck Charlie, Liv and Maddie, and a few others, HOWEVER Mr. Moseby from the Suite Life of Zach and Cody appeared in one episode, which means that Jessie is in the same universe as That's So Raven, Hannah Montanna, Cory in the House (yeah yeah yeah, i can hear the anime memes from a mile away -_-), and Wizards of the Waverly Place. Phineas and Ferb also had crossover specials/episodes with Star Wars and Milo Murphy's Law, Star Wars has many crossovers and references in other shows, like the Muppets, Seasame Street, Captain N, Mario (in that old Mario cartoon episode where they parodied it), Putt-Putt, Megaman, Duke Nukem, Star Trek, Indiana Jones, Dragon Ball, Transformers, Metal Gear, Angry Birds, Lego, Club Penguin, and several others.
The Star Wars references were in Megaman V and Megaman Zero, sprites from Megaman Zero were used to create sprites of TV Tome Adventures, which then became TOME: Terrain of Magical Expertise and then it turned into the video game version of that show, the creator of the show, Kirbopher, did an animation related to Super Mario RPG, and had many voice roles like in Mob Psycho 100, Pokemon, and other series. Dragon Ball is the prequel of Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Z Super made it clear that there's other universes so all of those are connected as well, and Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z had crossovers with other shows like One Piece, Dr Slump, Astro Boy, Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo, and a few others. Metal Gear had crossovers and references in Terminator, Gundam, Castlevania, Mario, Zelda, Ape Escape, Yugioh (which connects itself to the other seasons like GX, 5D's, Zexal, Arc-V, and Vrains), Monster Rancher, Yoshi, The Standley Parable (only in the demo), and several others. Transformers, since it's made by Hasbro, is also connected to other Hasbro property, such as My Little Pony (and Equestria Girls), and they had references to other series in both the show and in the IDW comics, like pony versions of Rick and Morty appearing in one episode, pony versions of characters from Sailor Moon, Gravity
Falls, Kill La Kill, Scooby Doo, Powerpuff Girls, Frozen, and few other shows and even pony versions of IRL people like Gordon Ramsey. Transformers had crossovers and references to other series as well such as G.I Joe, Doctor Who, Spider Man, Star Wars, Marvel, and several other shows, and apparently Jem, Inhumanoids, C.O.P.S, and Robotix takes place in the Transformers universe.
Angry Birds had crossovers with other series like Rio, Star Wars, Puzzles and Dragons, Transformers, Sonic, The Muppets, and many levels in their games make references to other series. Lego Dimensions is full of crossovers, like The A-Team, Adventure Time, Back to the Future, Beetlejuice, DC Comics, Doctor Who, E.T, Fantastic Beasts, Ghostbusters (both the original and the 2016 reboot), The Goonies, Gremlins, Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Knight Rider, Legends of Chima, other Lego property, Lord of the Rings, Midway Arcade, Mission: Impossible, Portal, Powerpuff Girls, Scooby-Doo, Simpsons, Sonic, Teen Titans Go!, and The Wizard of Oz. Speaking of The Simpsons, they had crossovers with other shows like Family Guy and Futurama, AND they cameoed appeared in South Park, and Family Guy is in the same universe as American Dad and The Cleveland Show. The Simpsons also had crossovers with The Critic, X-Files, King of the Hill, Robot Chicken, Bob's Burgers (which means it's also connected to the Archer Show), Rick and Morty, and several series get mentioned in the show itself. As for Sonic, he had a crossover comic series with Megaman, he had crossovers in the comics with Sabrina the Teenage Witch and DC (it was part of a Sonic Super Special comic but for some reason the Wikis won't tell me if it's generally DC or some part of it >:/ ), Sonic had levels in Sonic Lost World that were crossovers with NiGHTS, Legend of Zelda, and Yoshi's Wooly World, in Sonic Forces, there's DLC costumes that are based off of NiGHTS, Beat from Jet Set Radio, AiAi from Super Monkey Ball, and Joker from Persona 5. Sonic had crossover games with other SEGA series, but in Sonic Dash, they had events that had crossovers with Angry Birds, Hello Kitty, and Pac-Man. In one of the Vocaloid games, Miku had a costume that was a Sonic hoodie, to celebrate Sonic's anniversary, Vocaloid made many songs and some of these songs branch out into their own series, one of them being Black Rock Shooter, and i swear BRS was a guest character in some fighting game but i don't remember what the name was.
Okay, now let's head back to Marvel, one of the characters that's paired up with Spider-Man (except for the Movie universe) is Deadpool, and in one comic, he takes a girl to see Hamilton. In one of the Hamildrops, they did a crossover song which was a mix of Story of Tonight and You'll be Found from Dear Evan Hansen called "Found Tonight", one of the actors from Dear Evan Hansen is now playing the role of Jeremy in Be More Chill, and in the original 2015 performance of BMC, the actor who played Jenna also played Martha in Heathers, and Eric William Morris, who played Squip, also played Jordan in The Ballad of Little Jo. And since we're using actors to connect series...*inhales* Lin Manuel Miranda (who plays Alexander in Hamilton) also had roles in In The Heights, 21 Chump Street, Mary Poppins Returns, Ducktales Reboot, Do No Harm, Looking for Maria Sanchez, Sesame Street, House M.D, and a few others. Mary Poppins Returns is a sequel to the original Mary Poppins so they instantly connect, and i'm gonna make a crazy theory of House M.D taking place in the same city (or state) as Blue Bloods and Forever, both shows have characters played by Eric William Morris, who had roles in Trust, Greed, Bullets, and Bourbon, Royal Pains, As The World Turns, and few other small roles. But one of his current roles is Carl from King Kong Broadway, which is based off of King Kong, and King Kong had a crossover film with Godzilla, and there's a short film that had Ultraman and Kamen Rider (i think it was Godzilla?? It was a giant lizard thing :/). However, King Kong was the inspiration behind Donkey Kong, which now has connections to both Mario and Donkey Kong series. Donkey Kong had crossovers/references with Frogger, Pitfall, Qubert, Mickey (from Disney), Punch Out, Mother, Earthworm Jim, Kirby, Crash Bandicoot, Banjo Kazooie, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Scott Pilgrim, The Fast and the Furious, Class of 3000, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, Big Bang Theory, Metroid, Pushmo, Minecraft, Gravity Falls, Wreck It Ralph, Pixels, Skylanders, several others, and had japanese exclusive songs in Donkey Konga that had songs from Super Sentai, Pretty Cure, Pikmin, Naruto, Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo Bo, Fullmetal Alchemist, Dragon Ball Z, Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers, and several others.
Minecraft had a Super Mario texture pack in the Switch version of Minecraft, plus a Steven Universe texture pack as well, there are console exclusive skins based off of characters from Gears of War, Halo, Banjo-Kazooie, Dust, Tony Hawk, Left 4 Dead, Boarderlands, Conker, Half-Life, Portal, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, and several other shows. Steve from Minecraft can be an unlockable character in games like Super Meat Boy, Choplifter, Retro City Rampage, and Creepers can be found in Blocks that Matter, Boarderlands, Torchlight, and Minecraft is refernced in Adventure Time, Octodad, The Stanley Parable, Skyrim, and South Park. And since Minecraft has Halo skins, this ties into Red VS Blue, a show that uses assets from the Halo series. And Red VS Blue appeared in a promotional video alongside the main cast of RWBY. Mother (or Earthbound) is the inspiration for Undertale, which had a sequel called Deltarune, and in one of the locations in Deltarune is a place called "Ice-E's Pezza", and Burgerpants mentions a guy named "Purple Guy" which is a reference to Purple Guy from Five Nights at Freddies. Crash Bandicoot had two crossover games with Spyro the Dragon and had references in Uncharted, Futurama, Johnny Test, Family Guy, Jimmy Neutron, The Country Bears, Jak and Daxter, Friends, The Simpsons, Tomb Raider, and several others. And Mickey is one of the characters in Kingdom Hearts, so now we come in full circle with Matpat's theory.
So started with Spider-man (well two versions of Spider-man) and ended it with Mickey, i'm sure there's other series out there that i forgot to bring up but eh, this is long enough :/

1) Jean Grey: The Early Years
While X-Men: Apocalypse introduced a grown-up Jean to the First Class timeline, it turns out that Charles Xavier has a longer-standing relationship with her. “There are not a lot of flashbacks in the movie, but that foundational relationship between Young Jean and a younger Charles is one of the core themes of the film,” Kinberg explains. “The question of Jean’s relationship to her own powers becomes a big conflict for her throughout the film once she’s transformed by something that happens up in space, that has nothing to do with her childhood. It opens with a mission that takes them up into space that has consequences for Jean that ripple throughout the movie.”
2) The Professor’s Problem
In previous tellings of the Dark Phoenix story, Professor X has limited Jean’s capabilities after seeing the full potential of her power – and the Dark Phoenix trailer teases at a similar strand here. “Charles has been hiding secrets about Jean’s past from her that get revealed over the span of the movie, and only make her more unstable,” say Kinberg. “It’s the most inopportune time for this character to become unstable emotionally, because she’s becoming unstable in a much different way after this cosmic thing that happened to her in space. In this way, Dark Phoenix is the most intimate, emotional and personal movie we’ve made, and yet also has the biggest breadth in terms of spanning beyond our planet, even beyond our galaxy. There’s a sense that the things that are happening emotionally for Jean and what’s happening cosmically inside her is making her incredibly unstable, dangerous, destructive.”
3) Present Day
Cut back to the main timeline, and a reasonable amount of time has elapsed since we last saw Prof X and co. “It’s 1992, nine years after Apocalypse,” confirms Kinberg. “The X-Men have become the X-Men that many of us know from the comics – they are heroes. They’re still viewed as different by society, but they’ve been more embraced than ever before. And when the movie starts in 1992, they are a known superhero team.”
4) Suburban Outfitters
In a move sure to please many long-term fans, the X-uniform in Dark Phoenix finally brings in a classic yellow-and-blue design similar to the comic and cartoon incarnations. “I’ve been waiting to do that from the first time I ever got a call from Avi Arad,” Kinberg enthuses. “Avi and Kevin Feige were the chief two people that called me about an X-Men movie 15 years ago. We talked about the costumes, and what Bryan Singer had done I understood and liked, but they were very different to what I had grown up seeing in the comics. So I was excited finally as the director to have more of a say and clothe them in their classic costumes.”
The new look pinches elements from various designs seen on page and screen over the years. “I had a board full of my favourite images from the comics, and then I worked with our costume designer, who also worked on Logan, to create something that was incredibly loyal to the comics and then also had a little bit of its own feel. There’s little nuances from the cartoons, the comics, from whatever it is that if you were a fan you grew up reading or watching.”
5) Sense Of Mystique
While Mystique was primarily an antagonist in the original X-Mentrilogy, working alongside Magneto, she’s skewed more heroic as Raven since her introduction in First Class. At the end of Apocalypseshe chose to stay with Charles, and help establish the X-Men – and she’s still part of the group nine years on. “Raven is a part of the X-Men, but she’s critical of some of Charles’ methodologies, in terms of him feeling as though they can just dress up in those costumes and be considered the same as the rest of humanity,” Kinberg explains. “So there is a schism forming between her and Charles. That struggle has been present in every movie, and we do it in a hopefully slightly more subtle way in this film. She toggles back and forth between Raven and Mystique, and there is meaning to that as there has always been in the previous three X-Men movies.”
6) Star-Crossed Lovers
Jean and Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, both entered the prequel saga in Apocalypse, with sparks of chemistry between the two. In the comics and original film trilogy, the pair are a fully-fledged item – and in the intervening nine years they find themselves in a similar place emotionally here. “The love story between Scott and Jean is such an integral part of the Dark Phoenix saga in any iteration, whether it’s the comic book or the cartoons,” reasons Kinberg. “Obviously we don’t have Wolverine, so that’s one less part of that love story. It is very central [to the movie], and they are a couple. As Jean starts to become more unstable, there are people in the X-Men who don’t think she can be helped and saved, many of whom think the world and others need helping and saving from her. And so Scott is probably the most prominent person who’s holding on to the hope that Jean can be saved.”
7) The Village Green Preservation Society
While Charles remained at his mansion to build the X-Men team at the end of Apocalypse, Erik Lensherr, aka Magneto, went his separate way. In the Dark Phoenix trailer, he’s in a leafy commune when Jean approaches him for guidance. “What you’re seeing is the beginnings of Genosha,” reveals Kinberg. “That’s where Erik is when we meet him. It’s like Magneto’s Israel – a land built for mutants, a homeland where they can be safe and self-sufficient. Jean finds him there because what’s happening to her is making her do destructive things, and she doesn’t know why. The only person she’s known who has done destructive and lethal things in the past but came back from it is Magneto. She feels he alone can give her answers because he’s lived both sides. He’s lost control and killed and hurt people, some of whom he even loved, and yet he’s also found a measure of peace and that’s what she’s searching for.”
8) Intergalactic Influence
The main new cast addition to the series is Jessica Chastain, who’s gone all platinum-blonde to play… well, we don’t know. But Kinberg elaborated a little on the origins of her character. “I can tell you this much. Jessica’s character is not of this Earth. She’s an extra-terrestrial character, an alien character,” he teases. “I won’t say much more in detail on the specifics of that. While everyone else is trying to control this power inside of Jean, she’s much more interested in essentially encouraging her to go further with it and try to be the peaceful side of herself. She is the devil on Jean’s shoulder, so to speak.”
9) Cosmic Jam
Cut to the end of the trailer, and we get a glimpse of the outer space incident that kicks off the whole Phoenix takeover. “Jean is in space, and what she’s taking in is a cosmic force that she thinks is one thing, and over the course of the movie realises is something far different, that our human science can’t explain,” says Kinberg. “But she needs to find a way to control it or she’ll destroy more than just her friends – and even our planet.”
10) Cracked Actor
Before the title card, we see Jean in Phoenix mode, face streaked with white lines – and she’s only just getting started. “That’s not maximum [Phoenix]. That’s a two or a three on the Dark Phoenix spectrum,” warns Kinberg. “It is a manifestation of her transformation from the Jean we know into Phoenix. Over the span of the movie we see different symptoms or iterations of that. The lines on her face let you know that Jean is losing control, and that force inside her is trying to escape, push through, take over. Those cracks are almost as if something inside her that’s more powerful than she is is trying to push out of her body.”
11) Earthy Tones
For years, the X-Men logo and title card has been emblasoned in bold metallic fonts – but not here. X-Men: Dark Phoenix (or simply Dark Phoenix, as it’s being called in the US) has a darker, more mellow typeface that Kinberg explains is emblematic of a new tone for the franchise. “The way I wanted to make the movie was very different than the aesthetic of previous X-Men movies, which I’ve been very involved in and proud of,” he says. “But I wanted it to feel more naturalistic, I wanted it to feel edgier, more handmade, more real. I was very inspired by what James Mangold did with Logan, and I felt like if I could bring a measure of that aesthetic in the film that all of the intergalactic and larger-scale things that happen in the movie would feel more shocking, more realistic, more emotional. They’d be grounded in some reality. And so, all of the movie – from the costumes, to the title card, to the set design, to the way the X-jet looks – all of that stuff is just more analogue in a way. More like, let’s say, the original Star Wars movies. Not that analogue, but the movies I grew up loving had this very gritty, edgy, cool, human feeling to them.”

You laugh, stretching back with your hands over your head and letting out a loud groan and then a sigh when your spine pops back into place.
You glance at your phone absently, noting you have a missed call from Michael and a text from Anna. You unlock your phone, reading the text twice before it sinks in.
My water broke.
"SHIT!"
Your panicked shout echoes slightly in the empty room as you immediately tense up again and flail out of your desk chair to start stuffing all your stuff into your bag, murmuring a string of curses under your breath.
"Shit, fuck. Fuckity fuck fuck fuck"
The text had been sent ten minutes ago, so she could already be in labor. Wait no, that was ridiculous. Or was it? You don't know shit about babies.
Dammit kid, you weren't supposed to arrive until next week.
You stumble all about your office, checking the computer is switched off and that you haven't forgotten anything before snatching your coat from the back of your chair and practically flying out the door, coat trailing behind you like a kite's tail.
You're just about to get to the elevator when someone turns the corner and bumps into you head on. You stumble back, letting out a small 'oof' as the air is nocked right out of you. He holds you by the arms, steadying you and preventing you from falling on your ass.
You look up and meet his eyes, and oh god, what shade of blue is that?
You step back, freeing yourself from Bucky's arms and shaking yourself from the daze you snapped into.
"Sorry!" You yelp "I-I'm late, um" you don't know what you're saying, but your brain is running a mile a minute. He opens his mouth to speak but snaps it shut and furrows his eyebrows when you continue to stumble over your words, your eyes looking all around. Your bag, your coat, his eyes. "Sorry again! I gotta go"
You start to leave, pushing past him with an awkward smile only for him to grab you by the wrist to stop you again. You shift, trying to subtly free yourself from his grip. You really, really need to go.
"Hey, is everything alright? I was on my way to your office." You grimace, dammit kid.
You twist yourself from his grip, continuing your brisk walk to the elevator, he follows you. "Yeah um, everything's alright" you tap your foot while you wait for the elevator to get to your floor. "My friend is giving birth apparently. And I asked for Friday next week, because her due date was on Saturday" you huff "Now I have to get a plane ticket somehow, cancel the one I already bought too. Hopefully I'll arrive before the kid pops out." Bucky chuckles beside you, pressing the button for the ground floor.
"Relax doll" he picks at a metal plate from his arm with his right hand "I can take you"
You turn to look at him, eyebrow raised "You do realize I said plane right? It's not like it's a half hour drive."
He shrugs, scratching the back of his neck. "We'll take a jet." You do a double take, looking at him with wide eyes "Stark won't mind." You can only stare at him.
He huffs a laugh and extends his hand to you, you stare at it. "Give me your phone, you can text me your address" you hand him your phone automatically, still processing his previous words. He gives it back and you pocket it.
"There, text me the address when you get home." You nod.
The elevator dings and you jump, jerking back into action. "Oh! Um, okay. See you later then!" You wave at him, then shake your head as you sprint towards the subway station.
-
Luckily you packed a bag yesterday so you could leave in a hurry, you didn't think you would leave until next week, but still. You quickly change into more comfortable clothes, deciding to cancel your plane ticket once you're there, once everything's calmed down.
Your phone dings with a text notification, it's from Bucky, and it's just a question mark. You huff, rolling your eyes even as you send him your address. You know Tony probably won't let him borrow a jet, but even a ride to the airport would be nice.
You hurry out the door as you shrug a jacket on. You lock your apartment behind you and turn to head down the stairs, practically vibrating, feeling like you already lost too much time. You hear the roaring sound of an engine and your brow furrows it sounds weird, too big, that can't be a car. You turn to look over the balcony and then promptly drop your duffel on the floor beside you.
"Holy shit" you whisper. Hovering above you, right over the parking lot, is a Stark jet.
You thunder down the stairs, and by the time you come down he's already landed. You can't seem to close your gaping mouth, and you laugh loudly with shock when Bucky comes out the jet, arms spread and grin wide on his face.
"I can't believe this!" You exclaim, you know it's one of the small jets, but still it looks comically big parked in your building's parking lot. "Oh my god you're insane!"
He laughs again and takes your bag from your limp arms. You can't believe this, you can't believe him. You stare at the jet and it's sleek form, parked bizarrely right next to where you live. You laugh again, the sound dulled under the roaring engine.
"You coming?!" Yells Bucky, grin as wide as yours feels.
"Oh!" You come out of your stupor "yeah! Hah! Oh my god" you give an excited wiggle and step onto the jet (Jesus, a Stark jet. What is your life?) the door closes behind you and you try to contain the excited squeal you want to let out.
You fail.

Sonic/Equestria Girls Au Information and Lore
It's finally time to show you all something that I've had in my head for years and I promised myself that this year I would introduce it, AND TODAY IS THAT DAY. This crossover isn't like any other story where "sonic and his friends travel to the world of equestria girls because eggman messed up the timeline or mephiles miraculously came back and sent them there on a magic portal thingie for revenge" Nope, this is vastly different. Before I begin, I'd like to clarify that this takes place in a hybrid universe where the IDW/archie comics/games take place. I love the archie characters too much to NOT let them be a part of it. Basically, it's the IDW/game verse but with archie characters in them, along with a few events that happened and some cities that are in the old comics (i.e Knothole, Meropis etc.). Another note is that some of my ocs, and their species, are in this au as well! The species is called Novians.
Here's a list of the Archie characters: Sally Acorn and her family (Elias, Max etc.) Uncle Chuck (I'm a bit unsure if I want to add Sonic's parents since I'm still figuring things out) Scourge the hedgehog Fiona Fox The Freedom Fighters (Bunnie, Nicole, Antoine etc.) Mina Mongoose Shard the Metal Sonic Razor The Shark Coral the Betta Pearly the Manta Ray Honey the Cat Nack and his gang Hope Kintobor Rob O' the Hedge Some of the Echidna clan (which is honestly a huge maybe because I want Knuckles to have at least SOME of his people alive) Snively Robotnik (Also a huge maybe) ..and that's it so far! I'll update the list if I forgot a character. Some of the character's backstories are a mix of what Archie had and what the post-genesis wave had for them. For example, during the war with Eggman, King Max sent his wife Alicia and their son Elias to Angel Island to escape to safety when Sally was a baby. When they crash landed, and were presumed dead, Max groomed Sally to be the next heir for the Acorn kingdom until her father was banished in The Special Zone years later, he came back though. Alicia and Elias came back the same way they did in the Archie comics. Another thing to know is that some of my ocs, and their species, are in this au as well! The species is called Novians, they coexist with the equestrians. My OC's that exist in this au Isis Minorel Pacifica Catrine Jackson Somber and a few more that I haven't introduced yet! Jack and Isis are not energy vampires in this au but they still have their powers. NOW ONTO THE PLOT!! ~__________________________~ Basic Information: In this au, the Mane 7 are all sisters and Celestia is their mother, Isis is their adopted sister and Derpy is their first cousin, making her Luna's daughter. Celestia is queen of the equestrian humans, while Luna and Cadence are her royal advisors. Jack's father, Fredrick Somber is the monarch for all of the Novian species, he has a good friendship with Celestia. They reside in the kingdom of Equestria on Mobius, while the Seaquestrians live in the deep blue ocean not too far from where the kingdoms reside. They aren't from Mobius originally, they come from their own separate planet but it became uninhabitable. The equestrians are on peaceful terms with most of the species on the planet, especially the Mobians, and do whatever they can to help. Equestrian Human Species Info: Equestrian humans look the same in the original EG movie but the difference is that they have abilities based on their pony counterparts. Pegasi-based Equestrian humans can summon their wings at will, just like how Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy did in the first movie and so on. Magic-based (AKA unicorns) Equestrian humans can use their magical abilities to lift things or use them as a weapon for self defense, they DO NOT have horns. Earth-based Equestrian humans are just like regular humans but with a slight enhance of strength. Alicorn-based is just magic and pegasi mixed together. The Mane 7 and the Elements of Harmony: The Elements of Harmony were assigned to the 7 princesses at birth, much different to how the elements were assigned to their previous users. There are seven elements: Honesty Kindness Magic Laughter Loyalty Generosity Forgiveness There used to be six, but their late father had unleashed the element because of his forgiving nature and heart. Isis doesn't have an element but is still considered very powerful. ALL of the Mane 7's abilities in this au are the same powers they have in the fourth movie and mini series, the only difference is that they don’t transform unless they use their elements. They do have different transformation designs throughout the story, like how Sailor Moon does. I wanted Sunset's element to be forgiveness because she started out as an arrogant and cruel person when she was introduced. After her defeat, she had worked so hard to not only become a better person, but to also receive forgiveness from the people around her, including herself. Sunset is the literal reason why this au exists and I love her for that. An important fact about Sunset is that she has pyrokinetic powers in this au, which she inherited from her mother. It is dubbed, The Royal Flame. Pyrokinetic Abilities - Can control ANY kind of fire - Can breathe in fire - Can control her body temperature in cold weather - Her fire won't burn people she trusts, unless she commands it too - If she gets wet her powers won't work for a little while - When angry or frustrated, her body gets super hot - If she becomes emotionally unstable, she turns into her she-demon form, it happened once Mane 7 Ages and Birthdays (From oldest to youngest) (These birthdays are not canon to MLP, I made them up)
Sunset Shimmer: Age: 19 D.O.B: June 16th Species: Alicorn-based (yes she has wings sHHH-
Applejack: Age: 19 D.O.B: November 29th Species: Earth-based
(Isis would be here)
Rarity: Age: 18 D.O.B: February 14th Species: Magic-based
Fluttershy & Rainbow Dash: Age: Both 17 D.O.B: March 4th Species: Pegasai-based
Pinkie Pie: Age: 16 D.O.B: April 1st Species: Earth-based
Twilight Sparkle: Age: 15 D.O.B: December 3rd Species: Magic-based
((Before you ask, equestrian humans reproduce fast and the gestation period is at least 6-7 months)) Relationships this is what happens when the creator is a huge shipper-
Sunset Shimmer x Shadow the hedgehog (ShadowShimmer)
Sonic x Isis (Sonisis)
Pacifica x Jet the Hawk (Jetcifica)
Jack x Blaze the Cat (Jackaze)
Applejack x Elias Acorn (EliJack)
Rarity x Knuckles the Echidna (Knuxity)
Fluttershy x beret-wearing jackal from the Jackal Squad (Crimshy)
((Crimson is my headcanon name for him))
Rainbow Dash x Gadget the Wolf (GadgetDash)
Pinkie Pie x Espio the Chameleon (EspioPie)
Twilight Sparkle x Silver the Hedgehog (SilverSparkle)
Celestia x Infinite (Celestifinte)
Derpy Hooves x Scourge the Hedgehog (Derpourge)
Princess Skystar x Razor the Shark (Skyzor) ((I haven't seen the movie yet so please no spoilers))
Zecora x Uncle Chuck?? and many more I have yet to introduce~ ~~~~~~~~~ History: Before they arrived on Mobius, the Equestrian humans weren't just one of Mobius' "inhabitants" and Equestria wasn't just a series of kingdoms. Oh no, it was once an entire planet bursting with life. The Equestrian race and the other inhabitants of the planet, Novians, coexisted together in peaceful tranquility. Throughout the years the two species would adapt and expand, turning villages into towns, towns to cities, cities to kingdoms. With the Novians vast knowledge of elements and alternative fuel, and the Equestrians intelligent and superb skills in magic, it seemed that it would be perfect... but like all harmonious times, the destructive flames of war will soon come when unexpected and burn it all to the ground. There was another species among the Equestrians, Novians and Seaquestrians. They were the Centaurs. The Centaur race currently has a very rocky relationship with most of the other races from Equestria, the reason why is because of one single Centaur, Tirek. Many years ago, when he was just an organizer at a scroll store, Tirek had a huge dislike towards the Equestrian race, he hated them because the Centaurs didn't have much land nor much help at all. He thought they were selfish and greedy, hogging all the land for themselves and not leaving any for his people. He studied the arts of Dark Magic along with his brother Scorpan who also shared the same disdain for them as he did, Once Tirek mastered it he had a battle to the death with the Centauran leader with him being the victor, after he disposed of him he took it upon himself to become the new leader of the Centaurs and wage war on the Equestrians and every other race that dared go against him. The Centaur War was the most brutal war ever, countless soldiers were killed, innocents were slaughtered, and kingdoms had fallen.Scorpan, now seeing the consequences of all of this tried reasoning with him. Feeling betrayed, Tirek murdered him out of anger and continued with his plans. For many, many years the Equestrians and Novians had fought long and hard but it seemed that they had reached a stalemate, they started to lose hope. It wasn''t until Galactus Centauri, a vigilante from the Crystal Empire had stepped in to help. Without knowing it, his kind heart and forgiving nature had revealed the lost element of harmony, Forgiveness. With the power of the 7th element, Galactus, Celestia and the other elements of Harmony had forced the Centaurs into submission. Most of them gave up and surrendered to the Equestrians, but not Tirek. Tirek, along with his minions and followers had disappeared. After they left for the time being, Galactus and Celestia married and had seven beautiful girls which would later on be eight when they adopt a 5 year old Novian orphan named Isis. Things seem to slowly get better for the Equestrians.....until Zecora had a horrifying vision. She had quickly told the king and queen that the planet was slowly dying and forming dangerous volcano's everywhere, the reason being all of the magic Tirek took during the war. She stated that in approximately 7 months the planet would become nothing more than a volcanic wasteland. With no time to lose they informed every citizen and species on Equestria that they will be evacuating the planet. Every spaceship was filled with Equestrians, Novians, the animals that were saved, and even some Centaurs. Galactus thought it would be okay, that they would finally be free from the war, and Tirek. Until he heard that his daughters Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer were kidnapped by the centaur warlord. Galactus and a few soldiers went on a rescue mission to save them, unbeknownst to them that the volcano's were coming toward to where they were. In the end, Galactus, Sunset and Pinkie were the only ones who escaped Tirek. When they had reached their home castle the ships had already left because it turns out that planet's core was ready to burst early. After confronting, and defeating, Tirek once again in the castle, the three had reached to a magic teleportation chamber. There was another chamber on the ship that could teleport them back, but it required a lot of magic to do so. Galactus was heavily injured from his battle with Tirek, he didn't have time to heal because a volcano had formed under the castle and would burst any second. He had to act quick, he only had enough magic to teleport two people. So with every last bit of his magic and energy he teleported a heartbroken Sunset Shimmer and Pinkie Pie back on the ship, leaving him to die as soon as they were gone. Equestria had mourned for it's lost king and their lost home, but soon they would find a new home, with new allies and new foes as well. They would rebuild, adapt, expand and help those in need, just like they did all those years ago.... ANNNND THAT'S MY AU FOLKS!! I HOPE TO DRAW IT REAL SOON! I didn't go into full detail on the history part because I want to keep some things secret for now ;3 I really hope you love it as much as I do!! I poured my heart and soul into this au, it's one of the best creations I've ever made ;v; it felt so good to pour out all of this after keeping it to myself for so many years, especially the ships TwT Feel free to ask questions and tell me what you think! ^O^/

Goodbye “Andromeda”
The following is a letter I wrote shortly after the Montreal Comic Con 2017 Bioware Panel. I sat on it for a while, but with recent news regarding the fate of Mass Effect: Andromeda, I felt it was pertinent to share this letter.
To the global family who created Mass Effect Andromeda,
I still remember my first ever experience playing a video game. It was a hot December in 1997, and I was still living in Manila, Philippines. We had a small boxy TV with a (maybe) 10-inch screen. That screen gave a pixelated display of my haphazard attempts at killing monsters with the business end of my rocket launcher. Doom was released years prior on the SNES, but it was a completely new thing for me. Me, a (at the time) 5-year old girl, mercilessly conquering over demons, monsters, and other nightmarish things. Macabre as it was, it was the beginnings of my thirst for adventure and of my need to be the hero of my own story.
Since then, I have played many games. I have been an assassin, a brooding teenage rebel trying to save the world, a ninja, a samurai, a street fighter, a car thief, a weird dude with a bandana caught in a plot too complex for my childish mind (not naming names, Metal Gear), a widower trapped in his own psychological nightmare, a well-endowed archeologist, an extremely taciturn physicist, a sith lord, a keyblade master saving worlds... I have been all these lives, personas, and characters. Yet in those myriad experiences, I felt something (for the lack of a better term) missing.
I have since passed the years never really being able to point a finger at it. The sense of a void always came stumbling back after I had finished a game. I tasted power, fulfillment, and the close of a journey only to have it dissipate as a story that never really was mine.
Fast forward years later to the fortuitous year of 2016, when Bioware offered its newest Game of the Year title for a generous discount. It was Dragon Age Inquisition. By then I was twenty-four years old, at the cusp of graduating with a Masters, and suffering from the nagging malaise of a rather bleak election year in the United States. I needed an escape, and seeing as how video games had so steadfastly provided that escape, I took the bait and played what would become the most important game in my life.
This letter is supposed to be about your 2017 title, Mass Effect: Andromeda, so I’ll keep this part brief.
Inquisition was the first game where I was able to make someone who looked like me. Me: a stocky, 5′3 Filipino Chinese Japanese girl with unruly black hair, dull brown eyes, and a face rounder than a baby. Though many other titles before have offered character creators, they either failed to look “realistic” or ended up looking garishly alien. Inquisition’s robust CC made it possible for me to create a protagonist who could not only reflect a woman who resembled me (and people who shared my identity) onto an HD screen. She could also reflect choices, agency, and strength that are rarely afforded to what scant representation Southeast Asians have. I watched my inquisitor grow from reluctant, cloistered heroine to a capable leader who acted with both compassion and courage.
By the time my Inquisitor disbanded the inquisition and joined what would be the lost annals of Thedosian heroes, I inevitably returned to the real word. I was expecting that same, familiar void I felt whenever I finished a game. Yet it didn’t happened. Instead, I fell. I fell so hard for the universe. I couldn’t stop thinking about my characters’ companions, the friendships she made, the relationships she forged, and the love she has earned. I wrote, for one of my Master’s seminars, several papers (which my professors read with glee, might I add) about the resonances of Dragon Age’s in-universe permutations of tragedy and systemic oppression. I wrote about the importance of being able to interact and decide the conclusion of a narrative; to be able to weave a different kind of tale through games where the player could very much inform the tone and setting of a story.
I raved about the game; I joined online communities to keep raving about it; and I produced what content I could to share with these fellow fans from all over the world. I didn’t just play a persona or a character; I played someone who represented what I felt was good about who I was; who acted with a conscientious awareness of what conquering and ruling meant for someone of a previously colonized peoples. It was liberating.
Shortly after my plunge into Inquisition’s fan community, a friend recommended that I try Mass Effect. Since I have already waxed poetic about DAI, I will also keep this very brief. I played all three games shortly after I graduated from my Masters in the winter of 2016. Within a span of a week, I cried, melted, died, reanimated, and cried again. Shepard’s story was complete and whole, and I felt that her accomplishments amplified what i felt about my Inquisition protagonist (especially since the demographic “Asian” had more meaning in this game than it did in a fantasy universe). As you might expect, I waited impatiently and obsessively for Mass Effect: Andromeda, during which time I wondered how on Earth could I have survived the wait had I been a fan all along.
There are many things I could say about my experience playing Andromeda, but I feel I should share with you the most important one.
Thank you.
Thank you for letting me create a beautiful, Filipina hero, who would pave the way for a new galaxy. Thank you for being the game developer who - after nearly 20 years of gaming experience - let me see myself reflected fully, accurately, and beautifully at the forefront of a compelling and epic story. Unlike the previous Bioware games I mentioned, my Ryder (her name is Sarianna :)) was allowed to be young, foolish, and happy. She didn’t constantly bear the yoke of border disputes and religious office as my Inquisitor did. Like Shepard, she was allowed moments of respite and impulsiveness - perhaps even more so than the older protagonist with whom the original trilogy graced us. As a woman who barely saw myself and my identity represented in media, I had a protagonist I could admire, respect, and contribute to the world (no matter how unnoticed she will be in future years).
One of my favorite moments in the game was the penultimate and high stakes scene of the Ryder twin (a Filipino version of Scott) fighting his way with just a pathetic pistol in hand to save his sister. Tears were brimming in my eyes when SAM offered a heartfelt apology at the sacrifice they were forced to make. “I’m sorry Scott,” he said.
And the loving brother could only say, “I am too, SAM” before hitting that button with resolve.
It was a profound and poignant moment about family; about heroes of color who would do anything for each other; and about the fear of losing someone important to you. The fact that characters who represented Filipinos were able to call the shots, exercise agency, and bear the responsibility of leadership gave me so much pride.
My other favorite moment was a romance scene: the drinks Ryder shared with Reyes Vidal on rooftop. It was an emotionally intense moment where two people were able to share in their vulnerability. Do you know how important it is for Latinx players to be able to see a bisexual Latino express the need for recognition, affection, and friendship? The scene broke my heart into a million pieces, because frailty can be a powerful thing and yet it is so often denied to Latino men, whom the media has wronged with constant portrayals of stereotypes of machismo and violence. Reyes was a phenomenal character, and I have to thank your writer Courtney Woods by name for making him possible.
I also cried when the game ended, because I soon returned to that familiar yet now alienating reality where movies, music, and (for the most part) video games didn’t represent anyone with whom I identified. I cried, because my friends and I realized that virtually no one else is letting you wear your race, gender, and sexuality with pride and joy. I cried, because I realized that video games weren’t only cathartic works of fiction wherein I can project my fantasies. They were also fulfillments of personhood. It was you, Bioware, family who made that possible.
Now it goes without saying that nobody and nothing is perfect, and yet the rather disproportionate amount of harsh criticism and backlash the game received was... upsetting to say the least. For one, I felt like society as a whole was rejecting not only the finished product of the game but the potentialities and possibilities latent in such a product. I can’t speak of the technological feats Andromeda was able to accomplish (JUMP JETS ARE LEGENDARY YOU SHOULD BE PROUD!), but I can speak for the fact that Bioware is one of the few developers who proudly held up its fans as the driving force and motivation of their success. Andromeda is a beautiful game, and its predecessors were all masterpieces not only for their technical and artistic achievements but for their social and cultural significance.
When my friend and I left the Bioware panel in the Montreal 2017 comic con, we immediately found our way to a bar in rue Sainte Catherine, where we reveled in the excitement of having seen the people responsible for our joy and passion. Over drinks, I lamented the wasted opportunity of not thanking you personally, so I do it now under the cover anonymity. I do it with words, because I like to think I am better at writing than I am speaking. I do it so I can express to you the indelible mark you left on my life. You gave me a hero who looked like me, and in turn I bonded with others from all over the world who felt that same happiness and gratitude. Yet we also spoke of our hopes: we hoped that people will take Bioware’s direction to further improve representation; to include people of color, people from the LGBT community, and other identities in the creative process. In the field of literary criticism, we often judge a work based on its ability to stage and engage with different audiences across geographic and temporal distances. The Mass Effect franchise was one such formidable work.
Suddenly those twenty years of gaming beforehand folded into a meaningless blur. None of them could ever fill the void of never seeing myself reflected in media. And, as sad it is to say with the recent news of Andromeda’s definitive end, I am not likely to encounter another.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
L------ (aka @pathfindersemail)

damn it, here I'm again: how about sterek + (those are all so perfect dear lord someone send help) "I picked up what I thought was a stray on the side of the road last night and it turns out you’re a werewolf. Um. Can I offer you some pancakes?"
This was such a fun prompt to work with! (also on ao3)
Stiles had a history with strays.
Ever since he could walk, toddling around the Stilinski home as fast as his tiny little legs could carry him, he had an affinity for animals. More specifically, taking in any animal in need.
Living in a residential neighborhood adjacent to the local woods meant that he had never been lacking in that department. He couldn't throw a stone around their neighborhood without finding a baby bird that had fallen from its nest or a dog that had wandered out of its yard.
In the creek behind their house, buried in the woods by a groove of black willows and white alders, he used to catch redwood salamanders and Cascades frogs. He would wade knee deep into the water in search of the sneaky amphibians, never caring that his pants got soaked.
He would keep them in an old fish tank, arranging algae covered rocks in the water of the terrarium so his new pets could spend time on land. He used to spend hours digging up worms in the backyard so he could feed his amphibians.
Of course, they eventually died — wild animals weren't meant to be in captivity, after all — and Stiles had been devastated. He had cried for hours, until his eyes were red and puffy and his throat was sore.
A few months later, he found an abandoned squirrel pup in their front yard. There had been no nest in sight, nor any mother squirrel searching for her lost baby.
The pup was cold to the touch and Stiles refused to risk letting the pup freeze to death while waiting for its mother. John had reluctantly agreed and allowed Stiles to adopt the squirrel.
For the next several weeks, he dutifully nursed the squirrel pup with an eyedropper full of puppy milk. He set up a nest for it inside, composed of old t-shirts and ripped socks that made a perfect bed for the tiny pup.
It had been a bittersweet day when Claudia had informed Stiles that it was time for the squirrel to leave. They had released it in the backyard where it ran right up a nearby sycamore tree, chattering away as though saying goodbye.
After the squirrel came a blind kitten they found wandering through the neighborhood, mewling pitifully. Stiles had snuck the kitten into his room and cared for it under his parents' noses for weeks until his mom went looking for something in his room and stumbled onto his little secret.
Unfortunately, with Stiles in elementary school while both of his parents worked full-time, they just didn't have the time or resources to care for a special needs cat. But luckily there was an older woman who ran a cat sanctuary a few towns over.
After taking the cat in, she had assured Stiles that he could visit anytime he wanted. And he did, his mom driving him over every other weekend.
Next came an entire litter of puppies that he begged to keep, only for his dad to painstakingly explain why adopting six Tibetan mastiffs was not a very good idea. And after that was the mountain lion cub that he somehow found on one of his exploration through the woods.
John nearly had a heart attack when he came home from a double shift to find his son cuddling the baby of a two hundred pound killing machine.
He then had to inform Stiles that a mountain lion was not a pet. Park rangers had been called in and the cub was safely returned to its den for its mother find.
But Stiles' affinity for taking in strays never wavered. Even as he got older.
In high school, he worked at the vet clinic with his friend Scott, just so he could help out any animals in need. It was better than working some crappy retail job like many of his classmates.
And it was a great reprieve from the everyday stress of high school. If he was ever feeling particularly stressed, he would just call up Deaton and volunteer for an additional shift.
Basically, his job consisted of bottle feeding kittens and doing trial introductions for potential pet adopters. It was a pretty sweet gig apart from the occasional bittersweet moments when animals were adopted.
Even after he moved out of Beacon Hills to attend Stanford he made a point of dedicating his time to animals, getting a job at the local pet store just outside of town. So it was no surprise to anyone that while on break in Beacon Hills, he didn't hesitate to pull over to check on what looked like a stray dog standing on the side of the road.
He had been driving in from Stanford, having enough days off for Thanksgiving break to warrant the drive back to Beacon Hills. Drumming his fingers against Roscoe's steering wheel while imagining the amazing meal his dad would be making in a few days, Stiles had been absorbed in his own thoughts.
Until he noticed a dark shape in the shoulder of the forest road leading into town. His interest immediately piqued, he had pulled over to get a better look at whatever the dark shape was.
Lo and behold, it was a dog. A stray by the looks of it.
The dog was huge, probably some sort of wolf dog hybrid that someone had purchased on a whim then realized the complications of the hybrid. Its coat was jet black with a few grizzled spots around its muzzle.
Fortunately, the dog didn't seem undernourished or injured in any way. And it wasn't wearing a collar let alone a tag bearing an address or phone number.
But what really caught Stiles' attention was the dog's eyes. He hadn't thought dogs could have hazel eyes with that much green in them, captivated by the specks of gold and rivers of bluish silver in the canine's irises.
His heart instantly captured, Stiles had coaxed the dog closer with a few soft words and careful touches. He had been glad to find that the dog was a gentle giant, docile and sweet as Stiles scratched it behind its ears.
With plans to take the dog to the vet clinic first thing in the morning to check for an implanted ID chip, Stiles had corralled the dog into his Jeep and continued his drive home. His dad hadn't even bothered to act surprised when Stiles showed up on the front doorstep with a stray in tow.
But, of course, because Stiles' life could never be normal for more than a few months at a time, it turned out that the stray he had picked up was much more than meets the eye. He found that out the hard way the next morning.
After a wondrous night curled up in bed where he actually got the recommended eight hours of sleep, Stiles woke early in the morning craving pancakes. But not just any pancakes; his mother's famous pancakes.
They were fluffier than a cloud and had just a hint of vanilla, making them perfect for any kind of syrup under the sun from traditional maple to boysenberry. His mom had always made them on special occasions, especially holidays, which made them perfect for Thanksgiving break.
Once he brushed his teeth and took care of some other hygienic needs, he tiptoed downstairs to the kitchen, careful not to wake his dad. He hurried past the living room couch where the stray dog he had picked up had spent the night, too preoccupied with his thoughts to pause and greet the dog.
He was in the middle of flipping pancakes, adding an extra bit of flair the way his mom had taught him, when he heard the telltale pad of bare feet on the kitchen tiles. Beaming, he looked over his shoulder, cheerfully greeting, "Mornin', pops— Uh... You're not my dad..."
He was pretty much stating the obvious since the tall, bearded, naked man standing in the kitchen was clearly not his father. The aforementioned bearded, naked man said as much, simply stating, "Uh, no."
"Are-Are we being robbed?" Stiles asked, turning the heat on the stove down and tightening his grip on the metal spatula in his hand in case they really were being robbed. "Because, I gotta say, this is fucking weird, man. You're not even wearing pants."
The mystery man's eyes widened almost comically as he tensed and rushed to cup his hands over his crotch. His cheeks flushed, drawing Stiles' attention back to his eyes. His eyes that were oddly familiar.
Hazel-green with gold and silver. Holy shit.
"Shit, you're a werewolf, aren't you?" Stiles groaned, feeling his own face flush. He had practically kidnapped someone! Because he thought they were a stray!
The yet to be introduced man just nodded, still looking embarrassed as all hell. Stiles let out a sigh, "Keep an eye on the pancakes. I'll be right back."
He waited for the werewolf to nod before he slipped out of the kitchen and back upstairs to the laundry room where he rifled around for a clean pair of pajama pants. After finding his baggiest pair, he hurried back downstairs where he was met with an eyeful of the werewolf's firm ass and the tattoo between his shoulder blades.
"Uh, here. These should fit ya," Stiles announced after clearing his throat, holding out the red pajama pants that just so happened to be patterned with white dog bones. Turning his head to give Mr. No Name some privacy, he wandered back over to the stovetop where his pancakes were still cooking. "I'm Stiles, by the way."
"Derek," the Sheriff's voice returned, managing to make Stiles' cheeks flush even deeper. He craned his neck to take a peek at his dad who was embracing the now only half naked werewolf, a friendly smile on his face. "Son, this is Derek Hale, my new deputy."
"Of course it is," Stiles mumbled, hanging his head as he poked at one of the pancakes with the spatula. Sparing another glance over his shoulder, he watched Derek and his dad plop down at the kitchen table.
"So... Can I offer you some pancakes?" Stiles asked, meeting Derek's mesmerizing eyes.
"Yeah, why not," Derek answered smoothly, sending Stiles a sly wink when the Sheriff wasn't looking.
It may have been one of the most embarrassing moments of his life but it made one hell of a 'how I met your father' story.

We all have those games that we would love to see a sequel for. That game we grew up with as a child. That popular franchise that has been in retirement for the last decade. That cult classic you found while browsing the Steam Summer Sale that you beat and want more.
In some cases, these games might not get made for various reasons. Sometimes the company who originally made it no longer has the rights to that game. Sometimes the development team doesn't want to ruin a franchise by simply making a new game for the sake of making a new game. Whatever the reason, we all have those games that we would love to see get a sequel...and I am no exception.
Before we begin, I would like to clarify a few things. First off, this is not a list of the most popular games that I feel need a sequel. There are plenty of people doing just that on YouTube. This is a personal list of games that I have played that I would love to see continued. This list will also not include anything that, as far as I'm presently aware, already has a sequel in development. This is a list of games that I have not seen anything related to a sequel out there outside of rumors and wishlists, much like the Kingdom Hearts 3 wishlist I posted two weeks back. And finally, this list is in no way a definitive list. While I would probably want some of these games more than others, I would be happy to get any of these.
So, without further delay, here's my Ten Games That Need a Sequel
#10. Battleborn (2016)
The one is a cautionary tale to people looking to release a game; make sure you see what else is coming out around the same time to determine if this might be a problem for your release. Battleborn seemed like a done deal; the Borderlands team making a Moba-Shooter Hybrid with a fun cast of characters and a unique setting. It had a weird learning curve, especially between the variety of playstyles in each of the characters, and if you're thinking this sounds familiar, it's because that basically the description of the game that released less than three weeks after Battleborn; a little known title called Overwatch.
Thanks to Overwatch releasing three weeks after Battleborn's launch, much of the player base for the game dropped off within one month, presumably to play Overwatch, something that I myself am guilty of doing. It became so problematic for them, Battleborn as now basically become a Free-To-Play title. But where Overwatch falls short, Battleborn thrives.
Yeah, but Blizzard gave us a talking Gorilla...so...
Battleborn, among other things, offers a full single player campaign, the option to choose what play mode you want to play, and a story that can actually be seen in game rather than animations and comics online. It has the strong humor of the Borderlands team and a lot of possibilities for what can be done, and that's why I feel it needs a sequel.
Given enough time and effort, Battleborn could be salvaged and turned into something worthwhile. More games modes, an expended roster and story, as well as a better launch window, and Battleborn could truly be a contender for Overwatch. Let's just hope they don't release it three weeks before Overwatch 2: Electric Boogaloo.
#9. Jet Set Radio (2000)
Rollerblading is “cool.” Spray painting graffiti is “cool.” Combining the two is KEWL, and that's what Jet Set Radio provides. Released for the SEGA Final Nail In The Coffin (You may know it as the Dreamcast), Jet Set Radio sees the various gangs of Tokyo-To roaming the streets and spray painting everything while running from the cops. You play as a variety of characters in a new gang called the GGs, lead by Beat, compete against rival gangs for turf, and run from Captain Onishima, who has way more power than he should as he sends riot police, tanks and helicopters after you.
It was the definition of the Counter Culture, going against the man and doing things that look cool. It had pretty fun gameplay, despite a variety of controls that can be complicated to get the hang of, and a unique art style that helped it stand out from other games by being one of the first games to feature cel-shaded graphics with exaggerated shapes, thin lines and flat bright colors. So in a way, Borderlands has this game to thank for it's art style.
Hmmm...you could do with some more blue...
The problem here is the current state of skating games in the industry. After the massive failure that was Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, we haven't heard anything about a new game in that franchise, the Skate franchise, or anything new in the vain outside of indie games like side scrolling skateboarding game Olli-Olli. Now that doesn't mean we won't get anything like this; there have been rumors of a new Skate game from EA for a few years now, and people have been clambering for that for a while.
Jet Set Radio is also owned by SEGA, and recently, they have mentioned they will be reviving a bunch of old franchises for re-release or reboots. While games like Road Rash and Crazy Taxi are more likely to get reboots, I would love to see Jet Set Radio come back. Who knows, maybe they could even pull a Tony Hawk and include “guest” characters, including Sonic the Hedgehog or Bayonetta. That would be fun.
#8. Brutal Legend (2009)
Tim Schafer is one of the industries greatest comedians, having helped bring us such classics as The Secret of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and Psychonauts. One of his other games, developed with his studio Double Fine Productions, was Brutal Legend, a metal heads fever dream mixed with a somewhat mediocre real-time strategy component. It featured heavy metal legends like Ozzy Osbourne, Lita Ford, Rod Halford and Lemmy Kilmister, and the world looked as if it were ripped straight from the album covers of some of the greatest cover art from the 80's.
The story was pretty basic and the game completely changed genres half way through which threw some people off, but the aesthetic and world itself was a beauty that hasn't really been matched by other AA or AAA games. The humor is a bit more mature than some other games that showcase themselves as humor based, the references to the genre were wonderful, and the amount of love and attention this game holds is almost beyond comprehension.
It also made Jack Black's humor bearable for several hours!
Unlike many of the games on this list, this one might already be underway, though nothing official has been announced. During some in-development streams for Psychonauts 2, a game that I am highly anticipating more than almost anything shown at E3 2017, Tim Schafer has said that if there's enough interest and Psychonauts 2 does well, they might work on Brutal Legend 2. Jack Black has said that he would like to come back, and you know there's a large number of metal artists who would like to cameo in something so devoted to their genre.
All in all, this one is just a wonderful experience from start to finish...if you can get past the sometime clunky real-time strategy portions of the game. We don't get many games that incorporate humor into their overall structure much outside of kids games and the LEGO games, so having one thhat's aimed more at adults would be fantastic. Plus, the soundtrack for this game alone is worth the price of admission. Just sayin'.
#7. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003)
Star Wars has a massive expanded universe through books, TV shows, comics and games, the vast majority of which Disney would like you to ignore. Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republics 2 are two of the better parts of that expanded universe, and is the only game on this list that actually does have a recent release, but not in the way that I would like.
The Old Republic MMO, released by EA and BioWare, lets you explore through the world of Star Wars years before the events of the first few films. It plays like a combination of KOTOR, World of Warcraft, and Mass Effect (Fun Fact: Mass Effect happened because BioWare lost the rights to Star Wars when trying to make KOTOR 3). Playing as one of eight classes, only two of which really matter, you can play the first Star Wars MMO that actually had people excited since Star Wars Galaxies.
You said it random Star Wars Galaxies player.
No, what I want is not that game. While it has it's moments, the overall experience is more WoW than Star Wars, let alone KOTOR. No, what I'd like is KOTOR 3; a return to the massive experiences provided to us in the first two KOTOR games. The biggest hurdle now, of course, is that Disney owns Star Wars, and they are calling the shots. But here's the thing; EA has a contract with them to release Star Wars games!
BioWare is owned by EA, and that means that if they wanted to, and Anthem wasn't taking up all their time, BioWare could easily bring us another entry in the franchise. They already have an offshoot studio working on the MMO, so why not give us another main series single player entry?
#6. Undertale (2015)
Undertale is one of the few massive success stories from KickStarter, with an original asking price of $5000 but earning over $51,000 by the end of it's one month asking time. It was mostly made by Toby Fox, who wrote, programmed and wrote the score for, and has callbacks to Earthbound and Shin Megami Tensei as an NES era stylized game where you can befriend everyone or murder them brutally.
You play as a young person who falls into a mountain into the world of monsters and interact with them by either helping them realize that violence isn't the only answer or by showing them just how wonderful it can be. The story is full of emotional points, and depending on how you play, you can have one of three major outcomes, commonly referred to the Pacifist, Genocide or Neutral routes. And that's pretty much all I'll say about the games story; while the game has been out for just under two years now, there is still a decent portion of people who have not experienced it, and this is very much a game to go in blind with regards to the story.
Trust me! Do I look like I'd lie?
The obviously problem with making a sequel is those last two facts: the desire to go in blind with regards to the story and the multiple ending types based on how you play. The first one makes it hard to do a sequel for the simple fact that you usually have to showcase some of the story in the trailer and promotional materials. This can be combated by the simple fact that while the trailer for the first game does show gameplay, there's very little context for what is shown and basically just shows us what I've mentioned here. The second issue is which ending do you go with? Well, why go with a sequel at all?
The overall story of Undertale has some pretty good back story, including a war between humans and monsters which could be explored further. It might not give us the same emotional level as the first game, but exploring that part of the series might help better showcase the strife we see from the monsters in the game. If nothing else, this would give the people who play Genocide runs a reason to feel like a monster...if they didn't feel like that from the first game...
#5. The Stanley Parable (2013)
Games have had narrators in them since the first time we heard a narrator in a video game. They are there to help deliver exposition, to guide the player, and tell us more about what we are seeing on screen. The Stanley Parable likes to take that notion and turn it on it's head. While the story of the game is silly, it can be completed in only a few minutes if you simply follow the directions of the narrator. Bu this game is best when you don't.
One of the first major choices you are given in the games is a series of two open doors. The narrator, trying to guide you through a story, tells you to enter the door on the left. If you disobey, he then makes up an excuse and tries to get you back on track. Depending on how often you disobey, things can go from standard to surreal fast. From breaking the game down almost entirely to being forced to play a game where you try and prevent a baby from walking into fire for four hours to standing in a broom closet simply because you can, the game is a wonderful commentary on first person perspective games and narrative driven ones as well.
This game asks questions, like what if we made a game about a baby crawling towards fire?!
The things about making a sequel is that what more can be done? Sure, there can be more paths added, or a new narrative setting can be used, but making the overall premise of the game about a guy who listens or disobeys the narrator would simply be rehashing a concept from the first with a new coat of paint. Narrative games are unique in that you usually don't need to replay them unless you want to, but games like The Stanley Parable is unique in that you can replay it and not get the same result twice.
The real challenge for making a sequel is not even making new narrative arcs for the player to take; the first game shows that just about anything can happen in a video game with little incentive or force. What the real challenge here is making a game that can commentate on other parts of first person narrative mechanics, or even other genres and mechanics, that the first game didn't touch on. It'll also help if they get Kevan Brighting to return as the Narrator...He was just a delight.
#4. Bioshock (2007)
The Bioshock series are some of the most well-regarded in gaming, so long as you don't include the Bioshock 2. Between Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite, these games have ingrained themselves in the minds of gamers thanks to engaging gunplay, unique powers and settings, as well we smart story telling and situations. It's also a spiritual successor to System Shock, which makes it all the more better.
The first game takes place in an Ayn Rand wet dream of an underwater utopia run by a man who constantly reminds you that “a man chooses, a slave obeys,” and is filled with magic fueled homicidal maniacs, giant mechanical living bathyspheres, and cute monster children you can either save from horror by “saving” them or sucking the ever loving life force out of them as they scream in pain and realize that hell is real when they are “harvested.”
You can Harvest them or force them to watch Cars 2...your choice, but either way, you're a monster.
Then in Bioshock Infinite, you play as a man who has a shady past, saving a Belle like character from a floating city, a giant mechanical bathysphere bird, and a racist man with the ideals and principles of a 1870's preacher. Using a spinning hook on your hand and more magical abilities that you drink like scotch, you help liberate this floating city by shooting every cop in sight and getting a very basic understanding of quantum mechanics, string theory and the many worlds interpretation along the way.
A new game in the series would require a few things, chief among them Ken Levine, the man who helped give us this new classic. But to make it better, we'd need a newly enhanced system for combat, a wonderful new world to explore, and possibly a potentially racist author to pull from...let's try Harper Lee. Because who wouldn't want to shoot an allegory for racism and bigotry in the face while trying to champion the ideas of inclusion?!
#3. Castle Crashers (2008)
Castle Crashers is one of the first majorly successful indie titles to appear on the Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360, and helped bring the studio The Behemoth to the forefront of the indie scene. With simple controls, four player same screen co-op, a variety of unlockable players, weapons and companions, and a sense of humor that just about anyone can enjoy, it's no wonder this game became a hit.
You play as one of four knights (to start) trying to save four princesses from a variety of villains by doing things like running from a giant forest troll while riding woodland deer, interrupting a wedding for a lightsaber wielding knight and fighting a fire breathing dragon that has a side job as a sock puppet ventriloquist. Also, sandwiches can turn you giant; so remember kids, eat healthy, and you to can grow three times your size and punch your way out of any situation!
Don't run, Is just Ham!
Now, The Behemoth has launched two new games since this one has come out; Battleblock Theater, a side scrolling platformer where you survive a death trap for cats, and Pit People, a turn based strategy game about a world thrown into hell by a giant space bear crashing into it.. They also released Alien Hominid, a side scrolling shooter starring a sharp-toothed Pac-Man headed alien, which helps showcase that The Behemoth likes to change genres between releases. This doesn't mean we won't get a new Castle Crashers; it may just mean we won't get it from them, or in the same fashion as the first.
A sequel wouldn't really have to change much, which makes this one even easier to conceive of. If anything, much like the Super Smash Bros series of games, you would only need to keep the core mechanics of the game while adding new content like players, levels, items and more. With the Behemoth's pedigree for making consistently fun games, I don't think it's impossible to see it coming, but at the same time, we'll unlikely see due to their desire to expand and change genres. Until then, let's all look forward to their fifth game about a sitcom family forced into a world full of strange llama creatures, all with an 80's rock music aesthetic and made to play as a dating simulator.
#2. Sunset Overdrive (2014)
This is easily one of my favorite games from this generation, and a lot of the people I've talked with who have played with can agree that it's a fun, heavily stylized game. With the genius weapon design and humor from Insomniac Games, a punk rock setting in a post apocalyptic environment about an energy drink turning people into zombie monsters called OD'd. So, you know, a standard release video game.
The unique thing about this game is that it was the first game in years to release exclusively on a non-PlayStation console, specifically the Xbox One. When you compare the overly colorful and humorous world of Sunset City to the environments you explore in other Xbox Exclusives, specifically Halo and Gears of War, it's a very different type of game. When some of the weapons launch Records, Exploding Teddy Bears and the severed heads of the zombie creatures, it certainly seems a bit more silly than Gears of War's chainsaw gun. The story is also equally silly, with you bringing together a few groups of stereotypes to help retake the city of a corporation that makes guns, drugs and energy drinks that turn you into zombie things. It also ended with a bit of a cliff hanger, leading to the possibility of a sequel in the future.
Let's just have some freaking fun!
Insomniac has said that they would love to make a sequel, and to that I say Insomniac...PLEASE CONTACT ME! I have many ideas for this game and am looking for a new job! But for everyone else, let's talk about what it could be. First and foremost, we'd probably go to a new city that the drink made into OD, as well as new weapons and enemies, groups to interact with, more varying quest types and even more humor based on popular culture and some current events.
Honestly, I want this game much more than I would want Beyond Good and Evil 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2, and just about any other game that was showcased at E3 2017 that has a 2 in it's name! The games is just crazy fun, with Ratchet and Clank inspirations throughout, and just in general makes me happy to be a gamer. It's actually one of the only reasons I still own an Xbox One! Now THAT'S an achievement, if you ask me.
Now, before we get on with the number one pick, here's a few honorable mentions:
Super Meat Boy – A fun, challenging platformer with cute references to classic games and ever changing tasks to overcome. A sequel could make it harder and introduce new mechanics like a jetpack! Cause why not?!
Fez – This is one that a lot of people want, but Phil Fish got mad at the internet as we probably won't ever see. That said, imagine going from four sides to sixteen, because, again, why not?!
Grim Fandango – One of the last great adventure games from an era long since past, Grim Fandango is a silly concept to begin with; reapers in an office setting. Imagine what Tim Schafer and crew could do with that concept now!
Spore – While it's not as well loved as The Sims and didn't deliver on all the promises is had, Spore was still a fun alien builder. Expand the gameplay beyond a few genres and give more freedom, and BOOM! There you go.
The World Ends With You – A fun and unique Nintendo DS game from Square Enix. With the 3DS and Switch technology, the gameplay could be expanded and improved to tell a new story.
And finally...Number One
#1. ANYTHING THAT ENDS IN A 3 FROM VALVE!!!
Seriously, Valve, the Steam OS can wait a while while you make another game that will make you two billion dollars. With Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2 and Half-Life: Episode 2 all being the end of those franchises currently, gamers have been begging you for a new entry in just about every one of these series! So let's go down one by one and look at each of these, shall we?
Half-Life 3could finish the story that the first two games started. Team Fortress 3 could introduce new characters to give hats to while letting players occasionally shoot one another or push a bomb down a track. Left 4 Dead 3 could give us more zombie mobs ripping at our throats and new special infected all trying to shut up one of the characters with a plethora of annoying lines. Portal 3 could see us dealing with a homicidal robot trying to kill us in a testing chamber, only to be revealed that it's been us the whole time! Half-Life 2: Episode 3 could be a prelude to that of Half-Life 3 because seriously, just give us Half-Life 3 already!
Please? I mean....just....just please?
Much like Kingdom Hearts 3, Half-Life 3 is one of those games that may never actually come out, but that won't stop people from wanting it even more, myself included. And by holding out for a good idea or the right technology or whatever, Valve is making the expectations of gamers rise practically by the day at this point. When Game Informer had their 200th issue, one of the eight variant covers included Gordon Freeman, leading players to think they were getting Half-Life 3. They were, of course, disappointed that all it was was a list of some of the greatest games ever, and Game Informer was flooded with disappointed emails telling them just that! Over a magazine cover!!!
Look, we probably won't get any of these anytime soon, simply because Valve really doesn't need to. With all the money they make from games Like Team Fortress 2 and the taxes they collect through the Steam client itself, they could easily get out of game development al together and still make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, especially right now when the Steam Summer sale is going on, and while you might only pay $5 for that game you always wanted, you'll end up doing that eighty four times a day, which can add up to a lot of money!
So, there you go. A list of games I want sequels for. I'll get back to analytical discussions next week, but I want to know if there's anything you'd like to hear me talk about! Please, leave a comment of send me a message and we'll see what happens! But either way, thanks for reading, and I'll see you all next week!
