Ibai: There are also people talking about subtitles, as you know, it's something that is often missed on Twitch. Is that something you're working on? Do you think it's something we could have in the short term, or will we have to wait a long time?
Dan Clancy (CEO of Twitch): [With a Spanish translator speaking over him] So, it's expensive for us to do the speech-to-text subtitles for all the streams, but we are looking at client-side technology because there is client-side technology that the streamer can use in OBS where there is a Google translation, and I don't think it's something we can do for all streams right now but I think it's now possible for the streamers themselves to do it. But what we can do is to help the streamers learn how to do it. As you can see, in the QSMP, they are using voice-to-text to do it, and what we really want is not simply subtitles, we want translations, and it is possible right now it is possible for streamers and their followers to use third-party tools for transcription and translation which I believe is particularly useful at the international level.
Ibai: Greetings to Quackity, the CEO of Twitch knows your Minecraft server. Quackity, maybe you should invite him one evening so he can play with all of you. Quackity might be asleep, but I'm sure they'll get this clip to him.
Dan Clancy: Yeah, well I'm going to meet up with him in about two weeks or so. He's coming for the Austin Show on October 7, and part of my trip is to be present there, so I think we're going to go out to eat together. We were supposed to meet at one of the most recent conferences, but in the end he couldn't attend. I'm looking forward to seeing him.

for the record btw I have been calling it "Smash for" in videos this whole time. if you watch any of the I think three videos where I mention that game the subtitles spell it like that. I didn't learn until well after I started doing this that Masahiro Sakurai also calls it "Smash for", with the preposition "for". I have a sneaking suspicion that this was an intentional pun.

One correction: It's not GAP (what can you do with automatic translation), it's PIJ, which stands for Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terrorist organization in Gaza, much smaller than Hamas, but also considered much more extremist.
Three points to take into account:
Even if you believe there's no humane sentiment among Israelis, Israel striking a hospital would be such a PR nightmare, that it really doesn't have any interest to do it.
The number of people killed being reported is unlike anything you've heard from any Israeli airstrike, and there's a reason for it. Hamas knows that hospitals are "protected," that Israel wouldn't strike there, so where do you think Hamas hides its headquarters and its ammunition storage? So once a PIJ rocket launched at Israel, ended up accidentally falling inside the Gaza strip, there's a good chance it hit the munition stored by Hamas in the hospital, causing a much bigger explosion than a few rockets can create on their own, and accounting for the number of dead.
In the past, when Israel did make a mistake and accidentally hit a large number of civilians, it did take responsibility for it. It took Israel quite a while (two hours) to respond to the claims that it was an Israeli strike precisely because IT TAKES TIME to make sure that there hadn't been any accidental strikes at the hospital. It doesn't take time to lie and throw the blame at someone else.
I prefer focusing on what is happening inside Israel, because those are voices that are barely shared online, but I know that Hamas didn't wait to actually find out what happened before blaming Israel, and that hatred for Israel is already being spread on and offline, so... I'm putting this out there.
Update: Here's a vid from Al Jazeera, they were filming Gaza, so they inadvertently filmed the PIJ rocket launched from Gaza, failing mid air, and then falling back down in Gaza, causing the explosion.
Update 2: Thanks to a reblog, I can add a link to even more images showing it was a failed launching within Gaza, with several different sources coming to the same conclusion.
Also, to the nonnie who asked me for a third, neutral party as a source... Al Jazeera is not neutral, it's firmly anti-Israel. They have a live stream of Gaza with clear timestamps. This is even better than a neutral source, because this is a channel with motivation to lie and vilify Israel, yet their footage ended up showing the opposite.
Update 3: There is now a picture from where the hospital took a hit. It seems that it was the parking lot.
If you click on the pic, it will take you to the Twitter thread, where people are doubting that this was the scene of 500 people dying. I don't know if it was or wasn't, but all casualty numbers coming out of Gaza? They're released by their Health Ministry, which is a part of Gaza's government. And that government is, all of it, Hamas. The same organization that massacred over 1,400 civilians in Israel.
The source is a Hamas-affiliated "news" account on Twitter.
There's now a video from inside the hospital's chapel, showing it mostly intact (other than the glass windows).
There's also a recording of two Hamas terrorists talking about the strike, where they themselves confirm that it was a rocket misfired by the PIJ. I can't embed another vid in this post, but I linked to the recording with English subtitles.

Ok! Notes from the first Orange panel at AX 2024! They were discouraging photography and video so this will just be text (mobile Tumblr hates my photos, anyway). But first, a bit of a TL;DR.
TL:DR: While they talked about Trigun: Stampede, Beastars, and their new upcoming title Leviathan, they mostly focused on Leviathan since Stampede has its own panel later. (I'm not sure about Beastars since I haven't been following the show as closely.)
Ok, on with the notes!
(Edited to add links.)
Studio Orange Presents: Beastars, Trigun, and...
The panel guests were Kiyotaka Waki (producer at Orange) and Yoshihiro Watanabe (producer at Orange and also played translator for Waki), as well as Justin Leach (producer for Eden and Star Wars: Visions).
They started off the panel by noting that exactly zero of the people on the panel (including the mod) slept the previous night.
Then they showed a sizzle reel in honor of Orange's 20th anniversary, highlighting all the stuff they've done in that time. There were a lot of cheers for Trigun, Beastars, and Land of the Lustrous in particular.
After the reel, they talked briefly about the history of Orange, how they'd gone from animating mecha for other people's shows (like they did for Evangelion and Code: Geass) to doing entire properties themselves. They're particularly proud of how their studio has grown from 4 people to... I forgot how many. Much more than 4. And they can now work on multiple titles simultaneously.
On to Trigun! They didn't get into it much since it's getting its own panel at the con, but they did show some pages from the Trigun Bible on Plants, and Watanabe noted he'd post them up on the bird app later today. (Edit: You can find them here.) Watanabe also said they can't release the whole Bible yet, which may just have me thinking hopefully, but hey, there's a chance! He seems to genuinely love sharing pages from it, at least.
On to Beastars! They read a thank you letter from the director to the fans, and also showed a subtitled video that I'd guess was also a thank you from someone else, but I was too far back to read the subtitles. (An ongoing problem with watching anything subbed at this con is the subs being entirely blocked by other people's heads unless you're in like the first few rows... but I digress.) They also showed a new key visual (which I'm sure is gonna be floating around social media somewhere at this point) and noted the third and final season of the show will air on Netflix in December. Waki noted he started reading the manga in 2017, and he's thrilled to get to work on a full adaptation of the story since it's rare to get to do that.
On to Leviathan! I'm gonna break this one up a bit because it's long. This is Studio Orange's new upcoming title in collaboration with Netflix and Qubic Pictures (the studio that did Eden, which was a great story overall and I definitely recommend it). They also worked extensively with the author of the original work, Scott Westerfield, who helped keep them consistent with the characters and themes.
The story is a dieselpunk alternate world WWI story about a runaway Austrian Prince named Alec who meets this Scottish girl, Sharp, on a bioengineered airship, and the relationships these people from disparate backgrounds have with others and each other.
The German/Austrian side of the conflict is a faction known as the "Clankers," who focus on mechs and technology to conquer the world via machines, while the faction Sharp belongs to is called the "Darwinists," who focus on DNA modification of creatures as a way to connect with nature.
They showed a preview of it that honestly looked really cool, but again, no recording. It had flying whale ships. Like... whales they strapped a box to and fly around on.
Orange is excited to get to "go back to their roots" with this and work on a Mecha title again, especially since this title will be theirs this time.
They acquired/absorbed (I'm not sure on the details) a team that specializes in background art for this project, and yeah, the backgrounds are detailed and amazing.
They noted a lot of animators reflect their own lives in their work, and they feel Leviathan is no exception. The international collaboration (they also have people from Europe working on this) lends itself well to a story about people from disparate cultures coming together and realizing they have more in common and more similar passions and desires than they have differences.
They'll be talking more about Leviathan at Otakon in August.
That's all for now! I'll try to update on the other Orange/Trigun panels if I get into them!

[ENG SUB]: JokerOutSubs x RADIOaktivno collab: Joker Out - Gola
Audio + CC link here
To celebrate 5 years since the release of 'Gola', we translated this piece from that time. Once again, heartfelt thanks to Boštjan Najžar from RADIOaktivno podcast (Facebook, YouTube), for collaborating with us once again. Check out our previous collaborations with him, such as 'Umazane misli' and 'Demoni' album presentations, as well as the 'Šta bih ja' single presentation.
Credits: Transcript and translation by @chaosofsmarty, review by @weolucbasu, proofread by @flowerlotus8 and IG gboleyn123, subtitles by a member of JokerOutSubs.
Transcript below the cut 👇
'Omamljeno telo'
Host: 'Omamljeno telo', by the band Joker Out, on the show RADIOAktivno, Bojan is with me. Hello!
Bojan: Hello! Hi!
Bojan, three years on the music scene, three singles.
Bojan: Yes. The number isn't very high yet, I'll say, but given the fact we've had a half a year long creative break, it's not that bad either. With this new single now, 'Gola', we're sort of announcing a great beginning to our new story.
You've gained a fair amount of stage mileage in that time.
Bojan: Yes, that's true. Given that we didn't record much, we've played a lot more because of that, we actually played all over Slovenia. We played quite a lot of big stages, we were the opening act for the biggest bands, so we're pretty happy with that.
Now that you've gained stage mileage, will it be any easier in the studio?
Bojan: Yes, it's definitely easier in the studio. Somewhat more important than the mileage is the fact that everyone has developed a certain sound as an individual, and the feeling that we then chase in the studio itself, and each one individually gives their own flavour to our music, to create this one special whole.
Are you also announcing a debut for next year?
Bojan: Yes, that's true. Next spring, our first album will be released.
The current single, titled 'Gola', will certainly be a part of it.
Bojan: That's right.
And it's a modern rock song.
Bojan: Yes, a modern rock song. Compared to 'Omamljeno telo', which we listened to earlier, it's a little less rock'n'roll-oriented. We kind of tried to modernise our music a little bit more, however, it's true that a more modern approach is also what we've grown into right now, and it's what suits us.
Maybe a few more electronic rhythms as well?
Bojan: Yes, we decided on, I'd say, a disco groove, but in fact, the decision wasn't forced, it came very naturally with the song, I'd say.
You've also made a music video for the song?
Bojan: That's right, for the video, we decided to go all in, all or nothing, we chose a phenomenal producer, Mark Pirc, who understood our story very well, identified with us, and I think he showed that very well in the video, because it's really at a high, high level and we couldn't be more satisfied.
Which of you five still knows how to drive a Ford Taunus?
Bojan: Yes, we'd all like to drive a Ford, but right now we're riding bicycles more. Because it's already an old-timer.
It's already an old-timer, yes. Listeners can also watch the video on YouTube. This conversation will also move there soon, but now we'll play the song on air, so Bojan, the mic is yours to send her on her way.
Bojan: Yes, so, 'Gola' is our latest single, the beginning of our musical journey, our musical vision. I hope you like it, and if you do, follow it up by viewing it on YouTube, on streaming platforms, and hopefully I'll definitely see you at one of our concerts.
'Gola'

Hiya!
I've drafted this ask multiple times because I need some comfort, but I wasn't sure how to phrase it, but I think I've got it down now!
Can you do one where the listener feels stuck emotionally in their depressive pattern of thought AND in a situation physically that they can't get out of that isn't bad but isn't seeming good for their mental state, and they call Wally for comfort?
Thank you for doing all my asks. They have helped comfort me a lot. You're a wonderful, sweet human being, and I wish you nothing but the best <3
I'll be honest, I'm also going through it..- whole recording I'd realized I forgot it was supposed to be a call so I apologize for that! I still hope this helps in any way possible!
The quality of the next couple videos is going to be a little low, because my recording space wasn't available! I still hope that this helps somehow, I hope you're all doing as well as as you can be 💕💕💕 (sorry I'm not the best with comfort at times haha)
‼️please go support wally's ACTUAL voice actor, @DaFrankiestein!🩷🩷🩷‼️
The art & characters used are by clown/party coffin!🩷Go support them and donate to their Kofi of you can!
Subtitles, wally speaking: Neighbor?? Neighbor are you in there?? Oh, um.. Hey! You alright?? I-.. I didn't see you out getting your mail this morning... And I asked around, I asked the other neighbors, they hadn't seen you either... I-i just wanted to check in! Make sure you're okay! Are you.. Okay?? It's understandable if you're not... [pause] oh neighbor... No no no, hey hey.. Look at me! Look at me, it is okay... You have nothing to apologize for... You've done nothing wrong. It's okay to feel sad, it's okay to feel down... You're not bothering anyone! Come here come here, let me hold you... [pause] I know just how mean the mind can be sometimes, it can tell you a lot of things that aren't true! Horrible things... You shouldn't listen to them, I know it's hard to ignore them... But they're not true. You are wanted, you are cared for, people want you here! Everything's going to be okay.... You're not a screw up, you're not a mistake... You're not any negative thing. Everything will be okay, everything is going to be alright...

Okay, so basically, I've spent last four days in the hospital without stable internet connection where I had time to catch up on watching Het Huis Anubis because I had it downloaded, so here's a little update
this post has spoilers to Het Huis Anubis, so if you haven't watched it yet but you want to, read at your own discretion or skip it so your own reaction wouldn't be spoiled by mine.
1st, I'm currently getting closer to the middle of season 1, please no further spoilers!! I haven't finished yet
2nd, I like the HOA dynamics a lot more. Of course, it's all completely personal and HOA has been crucial part of my life since I was twelve, so it is understandable that I love it more. Although I do like HHA characters, my favorites rn are Victor and Fabian. And I still can't compare Amber Rosenberg and Amber Millington because Ana Mulvoy-Ten is the only possible Amber in my head, I just don't see anyone else playing this role.
3rd... The things Patricia Soeters is GOING THROUGH... Gee... I thought it was harsh in HOA, the whole thing with Joy's disappearance, but in HHA... I literally had no words when I realized under what pressure Patricia actually was... Like, they didn't just say that Joyce has left school with her parents, no, they tried to convince Patricia that Joyce NEVER EVEN EXISTED! No records in the town hall, everyone is telling that they don't know who Joyce is... I mean, in HOA they just made Patricia think that her conspiracy theories are crazy, but in HHA they made her think that she IMAGINED Joyce completely, that she created a person who doesn't exist!! Dammit...
And 4th, which I simply cannot leave out... Jeroen thinking that he had a date with a teacher and he went in on her in a fucking shower... Insane, simply insane. I have no other words. And after that I stopped understanding what rating HHA has, cause, damn, earlier I treated it as PG13, and now I'm not so sure anymore...
And now to some random thoughts with screens)
Amber, darling... You really are a genius for this!
I genuinely admire the way she put a flashlight in her curls and just walked around like this.
Also, Amber... I chuckled at how she chooses the brightest paper possible and writes 'SECRET MESSAGE!' on it. Adorable.
The Sibuna Club.
First, the way Amber and Fabian pricked their fingers with absolutely no question and effort is crazy. One minute Amber blabbering about having exclusive parties and making a flag for the secret club like it's nothing, and the next minute she makes Nina and Fabian take a fucking blood oath... Crazy.
And second. THE CLAP!!! I have no words I'm so in love with that little clap they're doing!!
*Clap* Sibuna! I LOVE IT!
On a completely unrelated note, I think I'm starting to learn Dutch while watching this. Because If I didn't understand a thing they said at the beginning and had to read the subtitles, now I can literally understand whole dialogs just listening to it and watching the video. I have no idea about Dutch grammar, but I think I now can understand it a little bit while listening lol

On 5Miinust (+ Puuluup) and the pleasures of sticking idol pop where it (supposedly) doesn't belong.
I haven't been around much lately, y'all. Partly because my dudes have also not been around much, although ZaQ continues to post a series of videos on the ARTJAQ channel, teaching the audience about... something. I continue, in turn, to not understand Kazakh. Throw in increasing disillusionment with K-pop (I guess now we know why GFriend was so abruptly shitcanned, though the knowledge doesn't make me feel any better), a general post-October-7th discomfort with most online pop-music discussion spaces, and work to get done at home, and Tumblr just hasn't been a particularly rewarding place for me lately.
I didn't think Eurovision was going to be a rewarding place for me this year, either. And then Eesti Laul happened.
youtube
It's like some divine imp was watching and saying to themself, "You know what Jessica needs? A pop-rap group from a former Soviet colony whose members love video games and refuse to take themselves seriously and release lots of goofy content that sorely lacks English subtitles. No, another one."
To clarify: the description in the previous paragraph only refers to four of the six people making up Estonia's Eurovision entry this year. The two guys in the clip with talharpas are the respected "zombie-folk" duo Puuluup, who play world music festivals and draw their own album covers and seem like a very fun and intelligent duo. They somehow have fallen into league with 5Miinust, a four-member (previously five) group that has been around since the mid-2010s. To the best of my knowledge 5Miinust have never been accused of being Satanic and/or gay like Ninety One have, but they are either a party group, a hip-hop group, a boy band, a bunch of frat bros (see this album cover), or a very savvy business collective whose members include a former advertising specialist and a trained accountant. Or, most likely, all of the above at once.
The 5Miinust / Puuluup collaboration by itself is charming enough, and if you want to know more about how it came to pass, I direct you to Overthinking It's very good video on Estonia's entry. And "Nendest Something Something," as @sole-cuore-amore-e-droga calls it, is the best kind of fun: chaotic at first listen, carefully constructed subsequently. I don't expect it to do well in Malmö. (I think "Europapa," which is also a seemingly chaotic song that turns out to have a lot more going on than its bouncy surface would first indicate, will win overall.) And I don't really care. I'm not sure 5Miinust and Puuluup care a huge amount about the scoreboard either. They've already recorded a full album together; they seem to be having a good time making silly videos for social media. They'd be my winners even without the added bonus, which is that these guys are absolutely giving idol-pop goodness.
I mean: go watch that Eesti Laul performance again. With the exception of the bridge, each performer gets his own solo time, a classic idol-pop move. There's choreo! And the styling: everyone shirtless under a suit jacket, but each suit jacket tailored slightly differently—that is such an idol-pop live-performance look. I cannot be the only person who clocked that Korea's suit is cut the same way as Nine's for "libidO" live stages, just more conservatively.
And the deeper you get into the 5Miinust rabbit hole, the more idol-pop-esque goofiness you find. Drag performances? Yep. Live radio performances with gimmicks? Here they are stripping to "Vamos." Super-dramatic award-show performances with loads of backup dancers? Here they are at last year's Estonian Music Awards. Do you need to learn the point dance? 5Miinust and Puuluup will combine forces to teach you the point dance.
And yet, talking about either (and both) of these groups as idols is a gloriously stupid idea, because "idol pop" suggests a willingness to subjugate themselves to audience demands that neither 5Miinust or Puuluup, for all their combined marketing skill, have. Idol pop historically depends on hierarchies—performers deferring to management, and, in a different way, to their audience—and that's not how 5Miinust or Puulup work. When I wrote up a guide to who's who for /r/eurovision, I said that Päevakoer is 5Miinust's maknae, and it was a joke because I'm pretty confident no one within 5Miinust has ever cared for one second who's older and who's younger. Just the fact that two different groups with a decade between them found creative inspiration in happily treating each other as equals gives the lie to the idol-pop framing. Nobody's bowing to Marko and Ramo. The whole idea is so far from how these particular performers relate to each other as to be nonsensical.
Which means: idol-pop goodness without stifling hierarchies; idol-pop goodness by people in charge of their own careers, who post goofiness on their own terms; idol-pop goodness combined with musical experimentation born of mutual respect. YES. YES. SIGN ME THE HELL UP.
(If it doesn't go without saying at this point, I would give a lot for my new faves to somehow meet my existing faves. Ninety One might not have enough English comprehension to make the meeting work, though. I think 5Miinust's ex-member Gameboy Tetris might speak Russian; whether he wants to speak Russian would be another story.)
I got lucky, and found people also willing to enjoy the 5Miinust-and-Puuluup-as-idols ironic glee. @sole-cuore-amore-e-droga really kicked things off by making that awesome lyrics video, and from there we got a line distribution video and a logo design for our fandom (Estoners) and photocards and a fanchant and a lightstick design and a "Gangnam Style" mashup and chibi art and then more chibi art. It has been one of the highlights of my past month, being able to giggle unreservedly with strangers. I haven't been able to do that in a long time.
Eurovision happens in two weeks, and then there will inevitably be a dropoff in activity, no matter where "(nendest)..." places. Without the Eurovision framework (and the English-language content that comes with it) I suspect most Estoners will move on. I'm still going to play the album, though, and keep an eye on these guys. Any chance to expand idol pop into more humane spaces, I'm going to take, no matter how silly it seems.

i need to see the ghost quartet, is the youtube recording okay or where can i watch it?
edith, you have no idea how happy i am right now. MUST WRITE AN ESSAY-
ok, so there is like an official record of the show on dave malloy's youtube channel (he is an angel for doing this), but i would suggest to listen to it first, because the video is without subtitles and when i started watching, it was kinda hard for me to understand anything and the story is really complicated.
and there are also two cast albums: one is the official studio album and one is a live recording of the show and i would suggest to listen to the live album, because it has some songs/scenes that you can't find on studio album and they are really important to the story. you can find both on spotify, the lyrics are also available. you can also find all the lyrics on genius, there are a lot of dave's annotations, they really helped me understand some of the parts i didn't get.
basically what i did: i just listened to the live album with lyrics, once, twice, after third time i finally decided to watch the show on youtube. you might not get it after first listen, honestly, every single time i listen to it again i find something new. but as you start connecting the dots between the stories, the real fun begins (and i know you will cause you did amazing with my escape room!). it's insane, it will destroy your brain. i remember after listening to it for the first time i texted bel: "i just listened to ghost quartet and i want to throw up cause my brain exploded". it's good. it's amazing. but it's weird, keep that in mind.
let me know after. or better: come back with one pot of honey, one piece of stardust, one secret baptism and the photo of a ghost.
👻👻👻👻
#sometimes i wish i didn't discover dave malloy's work because he destroyed me#he really did#i couldn't move on for such a long time after the great comet (which is also his musical)#now i can't shut up about ghost quartet#so yeah#LET ME KNOW PLEASE#and if you have any questions about the plot i promise i will TRY to answer them 🫡#ghost quartet#i saved every letter you wrote me*

Scotland Loves Anime 2024 thoughts:
Promare - It's alright, mostly just absurdly over the top on purpose and a fairly standard exploitation metaphor and way too many characters who don't serve much of a purpose. Pretty gay, I guess? 6/10
Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro - Somehow I'd never seen any of these, was a lot of fun in terms of humours and animation, and improved by seeing with an audience too. 8/10
Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture (all 4 parts) - Eh. First half had me cautiously optimistic, hooked, had never seen the anime but it was some compelling melodrama. And then the second half paid it all off way too quickly and in really boring ways. 5/10
The Birth of Kitato: The Mystery of GeGeGe - Again I've never interacted with the source material this is a prequel to but it was a pretty solid horror story and honestly the end cap where they tie it in with the characters from the original who were tonally way sillier was the only bit that threw me off. Echos of Umineko in there, but a little more direct? Was not expecting it to be so gorey! 7/10
Suzume - Really loved this. My small brain saw the boat perched on the house near the beginning and thought "damn, was that inspired by the 2011 tsunami" - no, genius, the whole film is an exploration of the damn tsunami and its impact on the survivors. Loved the symbolism in this. 8/10
The Scent of Love - Just a music video but pretty pleasant and was interesting to hear from the director about it + her experience on Suzume afterwards. Not a huge amount to say. 6/10
A Few Moments of Cheers - Didn't really hit with me, it felt semi-autobiographical but the films own point about the protagonist being naiive seemed, unfortunately, to apply to the film itself. Recorded Q&A from Popriq afterwards was excellent though, the interviewer was too old to really "get it" but some of the stuff he spoke about his process really resonated. More than the film, which was about art resonating with people? Wild! 6/10
KuruYukaba - Unfortunately the world's tallest man was sat in front of me for this one. There was a short by the same director (set in the same world I think) before it but it was already fairly dreamlike and the man's head was fully obscuring the very low subtitles so I didn't really follow that. The film itself was some very interesting worldbuilding and animation but too short to really do anything with it in the end. What felt like the mid-point of the film was about 10 minutes from the end. 6/10.
The Colors Within - Girl with synesthesia starts a band with a girl she finds beautiful at catholic school. Incredibly sweet! Loved the characters here, and it was also such an autistic romance story, but then it's also about catholic school so they never explicitly get into a relationship. Let them kiss. Still. 9/10.
Look Back - Oh this seems like a fun story of childhood rivalry... Oh now it's a romance this is such a beautiful story! (Emotionally devastating). Go and watch this immediately please. 10/10
Sand Land - Basically Mad Max: Fury Road as told by the writer of Dragon Ball Z. Good fun, humorous, power-up fights in the desert as you'd expect. Liked it but didn't really compare tonally to the previous two! 7/10
Totto-Chan: The Little Girl At The Window - You know those heart wrenching historical dramas about small children experiencing the outbreak of war? Yeah it's one of those, obviously. Also broke my heart with the addition of knowing I was crying for (fictionalised versions of) real people who actually died what with it being based on an autobiography. 9/10
Kuramerukagari - Somehow the other world's tallest man sat in front of me for this other film in the same world, KuruYukaba, so this was also hard to follow except had even more factional "intrigue" going on. Many of the same comments as before, it seems like a really interesting world but that maybe the director is more interested in worldbuilding and cool designs than a compelling story, which I can respect. Did tie in to a flash animation he made 20 years ago (Usigaeru) which was fun! 6/10
Ghost Cat Anzu - Strong first half, I liked the cat who grew to become a middle aged man-cat-spirit, that was a fun concept. Without spoiling anything because I think that made it worse for me, the second half felt a bit hurried and unmotivated, including the ending. 6/10
Trapezium - A pretty strong drama about teenage girls experiencing the stresses of idol culture at the behest of an impressively manipulative band leader, but then is ultimately more of a gentle bonk on the head because ultimately it's still trying to be a wholesome film about idols. 7/10
So top three were probably Look Back, Totto-chan and The Colors Within, in that order. That's a lot of anime in one week.

YD: Ahh, so adorable. I recorded some stuff, like them trying yukke. [Reading chat] Right? I was flabbergasted when I heard his age! I didn’t know that he was… 20 years old??? He was also shocked when I told him my age. I don’t really ask their ages when I’m talking to foreigners, we’re just friends, ‘cause they don’t have distinct honorific and informal languages like we do. And he guessed I was like, 23? [Laughs] I laughed my ass off.
YD: These kids are polite. They seem very polite, don’t they? Especially after hearing how old I am. It feels like they’re saying, “Yes ma’am, it’s very delightful.” So cute, and they seemed like they really enjoyed their meal.
YD talked about meeting up with Tubbo while he was in Korea and shares two videos of them eating food at a Korean BBQ place!
MASSIVE thank you to @Forgetmelotz on Twitter, who translated and subtitled this video and gave me permission to share it on Tumblr! Please make sure to give the original video a like.

⚠️ This transcript is VERY LONG! ⚠️

YD: So I was planning to have a dinner with Kei [a Kpop Idol / Singer], but unexpectedly, there's a foreigner friend I met on QSMP named Tubbo, he's from the UK, and apparently he's visiting Korea. And he posted an Instagram story about it. I saw it and was like "Wait, are you coming to Korea?" and it [Tubbo's post] even says Korea blah blah within the date two days after my birthday. So I sent him a DM and he responded with "Haven't you seen my Twitter DM?"
YD: I recently distanced myself a little from Instagram and Twitter for a while, yeah I didn't check my phone that often, and it turns out he messaged me about 3 - 4 days ago saying "YD, I'm flying to Korea! Blah blah–" so I was like "Oh, oh... I'm sorry I didn't see that!" and I checked the DM the day before he arrived here... I told him that I am so sorry and asked if I can meet him in person.
* [Translation note: this can also mean the other way around, ie: he may have asked her if they could meet in person]
YD: So we ended up seeing [each other] on the 21st. I was supposed to have dinner with Kei, so I told her "but my friend from abroad... is in Korea now... what should I do..." and we rescheduled the dinner to inviting her to come over next week. So um, the, right– Tubbo, Tubbo's friend [Eryn], Seoneng [one of YD's crew members] and Kang-si [YD's husband] the 5 of us had dinner together.
YD: We went to a Korean BBQ place. I was searching through restaurants thinking “Uh… which Korean restaurant should I take these foreigners to so that they would be super impressed?” [YD thanks a dono] Yeah, I was searching hard and so I asked Ryeori. You know the Kwak tori & Ryeori couple? Ryeori the hair designer, I asked him, “Reyori, I’m trying to buy a dinner for my foreigner friend, do you have any recommendations for where I should bring him?” and he started listing up like Michelin star-rated pork gukbap restaurants and stuff. Then he also tells me that it’s really difficult to find an actual Korean restaurant in Hongdae, like it’s difficult to find a decent place. There are mostly fusion Korean food [places]. But then he goes, “Oh, hey, this place looks fine” and recommends me this Korean BBQ restaurant. I decided to bring them there and fed them.
YD: The reason I liked that place was that they sell doenjang-jjigabe, galbi-tang, jeyuk bokkeum, and other dishes as well as their main menu, the beef KBBQ. The banchans [side dishes] were also served neatly, they even had japchae, they sold yukke. Obviously there are better Korean restaurants outside of Hongdae, but their hotel was located there. It wasn’t like he had a car here, so I was trying to meet them somewhere they can just walk to. So Hongdae it was. On top of that, YD 4-cuts is also located in Hongdae.** So I thought it would be the best to just eat out here. And while we were eating, I’ve recorded some videos.
** [Note: This is a photo booth event with custom YD frames, as show in the background of this video]
YD: [Scrolls through to find the videos and laughs] Ahh, so adorable. [She thanks another dono] And he guessed I was like, 23? [Laughs] I laughed my ass off.
[YD plays a video she took of Tubbo and Eryn at the restaurant]
Tubbo: Oh, ok. [?]: You should tell them how to eat it together. Tubbo: You’re overestimating my chopstick skill. [?]: Here. [Passes Tubbo some of the meat] Tubbo: Oh, thank you. [?]: And here, together. Tubbo: Ok. [Takes a bite] Waitress: With this vegetable. Tubbo: Mm, it’s really sweet! [?]: Foreigners quite like it. Eryn: [Reaches over and tries some food too, struggling a bit with his chopsticks] [?]: Unexpected, right? [?]: Oh, they like yukke? [?]: They just need to get used to it. Waitress: I will grill and hand it over to you, so please help yourselves. [?]: Ok, thank you. Eryn: [Tries more food and gives it a thumbs-up] [?]: Hm, good?! Tubbo and Eryn: Yeah! Tubbo: So far 10/10.
[The video ends]
YD: These kids are polite. They seem very polite, don’t they? Especially after hearing how old I am. It feels like they’re saying, “Yes ma’am, it’s very delightful.” So cute, and they seemed like they really enjoyed their meal. They were eating it up. They drank soju, they ate some noodles, and even doenjang-jjigae. I’ve heard foreigners don’t really like the taste of doenjang-jjigae, but they ate pretty much [all] of it. The restaurant also had pot rice, so I made them try that too. They ate that well too.
[YD plays the second video she recorded of them at the restaurant]
Tubbo: Go crazy ok, yeah! Alright.
YD: We ordered naengmyeon for a palate cleanser too. We ordered a lot.
Tubbo: [Struggles to cut the noodles with the scissors that were handed to him]
YD: He’s asking why we cut the noodles.
Tubbo: [Manages to cut the noodles] Kang-si [?]: Ok, and- and– [does chopstick motion] Tubbo: [Laughs] What am I gonna need? Eryn: Chopsticks? Kang-si [?]: Yeah. YD [?]: Chopsticks, mm. Eryn: [To Tubbo] You go first. Tubbo: [Inaudible] Why is it cold? YD [?]: Oh, because the noodle is cold.
YD: Yeah, he found it interesting that the noodle is cold.
Tubbo: [He struggles with his chopsticks] Oh no, oh no… [Everyone laughs] Kang-si [?]: Very difficult. Ok! Tubbo: [Manages to fish some noodles out and holds his hand under them so they don’t splash everywhere as he transports them to his bowl] Seoneng [?]: Oh, uh, oh! It might be difficult for them to eat that. YD [?]: Hm? Kang-si [?]: Do you want some, Seoneng? Gimme the chopsticks, I’ll share you some. Eryn: [To Tubbo] Slippery. How did you get it? Kang-si [?]: I’ll give you some, hand me the chopsticks. Seoneng [?]: Can I hand you mine? Just a small amount, please.
YD: They mimicked how Kangseok [Kang-si, YD’s husband] handles the noodles. Like, picking up the noodles like this and moving it to your dish.
Tubbo: That’s why you’re better than me (?).
YD: That’s Seoneng.
Kang-si [?]: Here’s your chopsticks, Seoneng. Eryn: I think this is enough. YD [?]: Oh, he’s taking some to his dish. Seoneng [?]: He learned. Tubbo: Do you like, spin 'em? Seoneng [?]: Scissors? Kang-si [?]: Like– [He holds up his chopsticks and shows them how to do it. Ok. OK! Eryn: [Picks up only a few noodles, which dangle] Seoneng [?]: Good! Tubbo: Maybe I did- I did a sht job of cutting, I'm sorry. Eryn: That's ok. Doing good.
YD: It had a nice atmosphere.
Eryn: Bravo. Tubbo: Oh, thank you. YD [?]: The noodles might be a bit slippery for them to...
YD: They really struggled to pick the noodles up. They asked why we cut the noodles then proceeds to eat like that 'cuz it's too long.
YD [?]: Shall we cut it? Kang-si [?]: Eryn? [He leans forward and cuts Eryn's noodles with scissors]
YD: –So we had to cut it for him like he's a baby.
[Everyone laughs] Eryn: It kept on moving!
[The video ends]
YD: [Laughs] Ah, so cute. It was fun. So we tried various dishes together. And uh, UK– UK– both of them are from the UK, but they didn't know there is a viral series of British students trying Korean food,*** so I told them "Seeing how you react to unfamiliar foods, like... How do I put this? You were very polite trying these out, not making any weird disgusted noises (so you can go viral too)." They didn't refuse anything. Well, they also said that this was the best Korean food they had so far. They might've been just being polite, but still, you know, they were... Hmm, very neat? Yeah. I get why he's so popular.
*** [Note: YT: Korean Englishman]
YD: Anyways, it was a lot of fun. After the meal, I asked them if they wanted to go take a YD 4-cut with us, explaining this is a trending form of birthday event amongst fans of younger generations in Korea where they rent and run a photobooth for their YouTuber / CCs / Influencers. I asked "It's close from here, you wanna go?" and he said yes. That's how we ended up taking a group photo. It wasn't planned beforehand.
YD: We arrived there– [Laughs] I tried, I knew it closes at 10pm, so I tried to visit there around then (to avoid people). So we got there around 9:30? And my fans were sitting there waiting for me. As soon as they spot me they go, "Wooooooo!!! It's so good to see you in person!!!" ...then they started crying, which made Tubbo and Eryn panic a bit. They were like "Wow YD, u a superstar! Whoa." [Laughs]
YD: No, 'cuz I told them that there might be a few fans because it's my birthday event, and they were OK with it. Well, he's also a Youtuber, so he wouldn't be too unfamiliar with this kinda situation I figure. But even though I warned [him] about it, they seemed a bit surprised as people started SOBBING, so Kangseok evacuated them all. He told them, "Let's get out and try some salted butter rolls while she..." The boys leave and get bread, and I go have a short conversation with my fans, take photos, give autographs... [Laughs]
YD: It was a LOT of fun. It was a memorable day.
The original VOD can be found here (please note that the video is only available to VIP members of YD's channel).

Commenting on the SXSG leaks, though not getting too specific
I'm not adding any links or images since I personally don't want to distribute these leaks, but twitter user (@)MSROPls is the source.
I've gone back and forth on if the leaks are accurate because there are inconsistencies, such as a screenshot of a cutscene with the subtitles but the video version has the subs cropped out, the delivery of a line being so bad I question if it's AI, one of the scenes using Sonic's Frontiers model, none of the lip-syncing being changed, and the poor video/audio quality.
That said, there's too much. One or two scenes, a screenshot, easily edited. But this amount of info? It's accurate. Also they recently admitted to recording a Discord call of a person who actually had access to the game, so it wasn't their footage, but still real.
Honestly? I'm torn. On one hand, yeah Gens is THE callback game. If you're going to do nudge winks at people, it is the game to do it.
A rehash of the faker scene should be appealing to my SA2-nostalgia-loving-ass, even at 13. I want to like it, you have no idea how many times I've watched that clip trying to convince myself to like it.
I don't have an inherit problem with callbacks either, so logically I should be fine or even like what's in the leaked clips. So why don't I?
Gens was the latest release when I was getting into Sonic, I was like 13 so it was a very different time. I was always disappointed Gens didn't have much of a story. If this was what the original script was, I probably would've been all over it, right?
Yet I find it flat at best and the bad cringe at worst. Original Gens I just thought was lacking substance, but this is so...forced.
It's not cool. It's not funny. It doesn't meaningfully add to the interactions.
I also have to ask why these changes were made. Why does Tails need to mention West Side Island and question if the Time Eater caused this? What was wrong with him saying the pink water made him nervous? Why does Amy need to insist she's not a damsel in distress by stating next time, she'll save Sonic? What does this change really do?
It's kind of hard to judge until I'm able to see the full, final piece, but knowing how this 13-year-old story ends, I don't see how this will add anything. It's like replacing dialogue that was fine (not outstanding, just fine) with filler text. They spent resources on this? I just don't get the logic behind it.
I've already been iffy on this game, but I just hope the final product comes together in a satisfying way. We'll see when I eventually play it.
#sonic x shadow generations#sonic x shadow generations spoilers#spoilers#just a reminder i'm not preordering this game#was planning to buy it at launch if reviews looked good BUT THEN someone hit me with a $700+ vet bill so#i'm entering some giveaways in hopes i'll get a copy but that's as far as it goes right now#who knows when i'll actually play it

Project SEKAI 3rd anniversary: Brand New World - recap post (MK-II)
(main promotional art / title screen)
I thought it would be useful to make a post recapping everything we know about the 3rd anniversary update, since we’re getting closer and closer to the anniversary now and there’s gonna be a lot of changes to keep up with. I’ll continue to update this as more stuff is released with both character/story information and general game updates and other news (goes without saying but spoiler warning for this post).
Note that all of this applies to the JP server only.
Official site link
Section 1 - Characters & Story
This is probably the bit people are more interested in
New stock artworks for each unit have been released on the 3rd anniversary website! In addition, character bios using the new arts have been released on Twitter! The Virtual Singer bios have not changed, but the ones for the human characters have, and I've added translations of these in the character section just a bit below here. You can find these new bios linked below:
Virtual Singer
Leo/need (Ichika) (Saki) (Honami) (Shiho)
MORE MORE JUMP! (Minori) (Haruka) (Airi) (Shizuku)
Vivid BAD SQUAD (Kohane) (An) (Akito) (Toya)
WonderlandsxShowtime (Tsukasa) (Emu) (Nene) (Rui)
25-ji, Nightcord de. (Kanade) (Mafuyu) (Ena) (Mizuki)
Videos about the "path every unit has taken and what comes next" are being released on YouTube! These are essentially just PVs for the third anniversary and feature past event cards + quotes alongside the new stock arts for each character. Note these videos are in Japanese and do not have subtitles for any other language.

Vivid BAD SQUAD
WonderlandsxShowtime
25-ji, Nightcord de.
Leo/need
In Get Over It., Leo/need receives an offer from Yoshiki Shindou to sign on to the record label he works for, Solis Records. Leo/need accepted the offer and signed a contract with Solis, making them professionals. However, they have yet to officially debut as a professional band.
Ichika
She has a cool appearance, but in reality she is a kind girl who cares about her friends. She formed Leo/need with her childhood friends Saki, Honami and Shiho, and they became professional musicians like they longed to be. She is the guitarist and vocalist for the band and also writes lyrics for their original songs. She has recently taken up the challenge of producing music using the Hatsune Miku software.
School year: 1st -> 2nd Class: 1-C -> 2-A Job: Staff at a fast food joint Height: 161 -> 162cm Other notes: She is no longer class rep, and has joined the broadcasting committee because she wanted to play music she liked on the radio and improve her MC skills
Saki
A cheerful mood-maker who always has a smile on her face, she serves as Leo/need's keyboardist. Now, she supports Leo/need with her newfound strength.
School year: 1st -> 2nd Class: 1-B -> 2-A Job: Housekeeper for Kanade Height: 166cm Other notes: She's continuing to be a member of the beautification committee
Shiho
Leo/need's bassist. Due to her stoic nature, especially when music is involved, she is often misunderstood by those around her to be an asocial loner. However, she is very fond of everyone in Leo/need, who have worked with her to fulfil her dream of becoming a professional musician.
School year: 1st -> 2nd Class: 1-A -> 2-B Job: Livehouse staff Height: 159cm Other notes: due to Saki growing, she is now the shortest member of Leo/need. She also joined the animal caretaker committee because she liked volunteering there occasionally in 1st year

Taiga then challenged VBS, EVER, Arata and Kotaro to a singing battle, easily defeating them all. EVER decides to take a hiatus from street music, while Arata leaves town. Vivid BAD SQUAD decide that they need to work even harder if they want to surpass RAD WEEKEND, and Ken temporarily closes WEEKEND GARAGE so he can become their mentor.
Kohane
Although she used to be shy and timid, she became more confident in her singing through friendly competition and encouragement from her teammates, and through the training of Taiga, one of the members of the group who held the legendary RAD WEEKEND event. School year: 1st -> 2nd Class: 1-A -> 2-A Job: None Height: 156cm Other notes: She joined the beautification committee due to the workload being less than the animal committee

Akito
A hard-working person who practices diligently to make his dream of surpassing the legendary RAD WEEKEND event come true. The weight of the secret behind RAD WEEKEND almost made him give up, but he was reminded of the passion he had for his dream, which inspired him to get back up and push forwards.
School year: 1st -> 2nd Class: 1-C -> 2-A Job: Sales assistant at a clothing store -> none (quit to focus on VBS) Height: 174 -> 176cm Other notes: He's taller than KAITO now
Toya
A young prodigy born into a family of famous classical musicians. Whilst aiming to surpass the legendary RAD WEEKEND event, Toya has been trying his hand at composing music for his group. Despite being overwhelmed by the true level of the legendary event, with the experience he has acquired so far, he hopes to overcome the barriers with his teammates and see what lies ahead.
School year: 1st -> 2nd Class: 1-B -> 2-B Job: None Height: 178 -> 179cm Other notes: He's still a member of the library committee
Bonus note: Kohane and Toya still do not call their teammates outside their respective partners by their first names.
Second note: Akito's bio refers to his fes story unlike everyone else's that allude to past event stories. Read his fes story.
WonderlandsxShowtime
In Our Happy Ending, Rui proposes that WonderlandsxShowtime begin operating as a freelance unit instead of as Phoenix Wonderland cast. Emu initially declines, but her brothers encourage her to go with the others, since she’s still young and should take the opportunity to get out there while she can. After one more show at PXL, WxS’ contract is terminated and they officially become freelancers.
Tsukasa
The chairman of WonderlandsxShowtime, who aspires to be the biggest star in the world. After a variety of experiences as a cast member, he developed a desire to see the wider world and learn more about his craft. Her dream is to uphold her grandfather's legacy and protect Phoenix Wonderland, and she was prepared to part ways with the rest of WonderlandsxShowtime members who were leaving to pursue their dreams because of this. A genius director who goes at his own pace. He used to work alone, but found a place to belong in WonderlandsxShowtime, who accepted him and his shows. He recently sought a way for him and his troupemates to be able to follow their dreams without going their separate ways. In the end, everything led to the best possible 'grand finale' where all of them can continue to perform together whilst pursuing their individual dreams.
School year: 2nd -> 3rd Class: 2-B -> 3-C Job: Phoenix Wonderland cast -> freelancer with WonderlandsxShowtime Height: 180 -> 182cm Other notes: He is still a member of the gardening committee
25-ji, Nightcord de.
As her mother continues to try and cut her off from 25-ji, Nightcord de., Mafuyu’s mental health continues to decline and her grades start to slip. Her mother finds out that she didn’t do as well on her finals as usual, and attempts to confiscate her phone, breaking it in the process and completely cutting Mafuyu off from N25. Mafuyu finally comes clean about everything with her mother, however her mother is completely apathetic and tries to manipulate her into thinking that none of it is her fault. Mafuyu ends up running away from home as a result.
Kanade
25-ji, Nightcord de.'s composer. She was happy to see that her songs were having more and more of an effect on Mafuyu, but was one day approached by Mafuyu's mother telling her to stay away from her daughter. However, after the way Mafuyu's mother talked and acted made her feel uncomfortable, Kanade refused her demands and chose to stay by Mafuyu's side.
School year: N/A (attends online school; equivalent to 3rd year) Job: None Height: 154cm
Mafuyu
25-ji, Nightcord de.'s lyricist. She lost sight of her true self due to her mother constantly pushing her to be a "good girl", but she came to find a place to belong in N25. However, her mother tried to take that away from her, pushing Mafuyu to her limit and causing her to run away from home and seek refuge in Kanade.
School year: 2nd -> 3rd Class: 2-B -> 3-B Job: None Height: 162cm Other notes: currently living with Kanade. She's still class rep as she was requested to be one by her teacher and classmates
Ena
25-ji, Nightcord de.'s illustrator. She isn't naturally talented at art, but she has developed the strength to keep drawing even after she's harshly criticised. Ena is a very straightforward person, and was irritated by Mafuyu being reluctant to communicate her feelings with her mother. However Ena can sense a definite change in Mafuyu since they first met, and will continue to watch over her closely as a friend.

The game will be getting a massive UI overhaul, some images can be found below
A side story menu will be added alongside the event and main story menus.
New difficulty: Append!
A new difficulty will be added, called Append. It requires playing with 3 or more fingers, similar to the Proseka Ultimate songs! The difficulty range will be Lvl23-38!
The first 12 songs to receive Append charts will be Tell Your World, NEO, Hibana -Reloaded-, Stella, MORE! JUMP! MORE!, Vampire, Cinema, Pheles, TONDEMO-WONDERZ, Telecaster B-boy, I nandesu, and Gehenna!
Append will have a new note type, called Trace. It is similar to a slide note from Bandori.
The Intense Voice of Hatsune Miku will also have a lvl 35 Append chart added for a limited time, starting on September 30th. This will be the full version of the song for added challenge.
New event type: World Link!
Described as "stories where you will witness new possibilities in the SEKAI due to change in characters' feelings". By the 4th anniversary, every unit will get one World Link format unit event.
The event will be formatted in parts, known as chapters. Each chapter will be focused on a different character and have its own event ranking and story, and will run for only a few days. At the end of the story, changes might happen in the SEKAI...
Event ranking will be split into two sections: chapter and overall. Chapter score is accumulated during each chapter, and overall tallies your points throughout the entire event (so it is possible to tier one chapter and still get low overall rank because you ignored the other 3). Chapter ranking will have new special titles for ranks 1-100, but everything below T200 will keep the same titles as have always been used.
Event exchange will be split in a similar way, with a chapter exchange and general exchange. Chapter exchange can only be used with the pt badges earned during the specific chapter, but any leftovers can be converted and used in the general exchange.
Event bonus will work a little differently in these events, with the introduction of support units. If you've played like any other idol game you will know what these are, but for those who don't, then basically it allows you to add extra cards to a team that although can't be used and will not affect score, they can raise your event bonus for your main team. In World Link events, the support team will have 12 slots. Refer to the translated images from @/pjsekai_eng on twitter above.
The first World Link event will be for Niigo, and will be held between the 8th and 20th of November! After that will be VBS in January, WxS in March, MMJ! in May, L/n in July, and Virtual Singer (!!) in August.

Finally after 2 years of waiting, Volume 2 of the SEKAI cover albums has been announced. Track lists and release dates below. Note that Hello,World and ray have been excluded from the Leo/need album, possibly due to being part of an artist collab. Their full versions have been available on YouTube for about two years anyway so not overly bad. Aun no Beats has been excluded from the VBS album for unknown reasons (probably copyright).

when and how did you start to really get into love live? since you watched sunshine or did something else make you start loving them? :] do you have any recommendations on what to watch or listen to or read for baby aqours fans? ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و i finished sunshine recently and i loved the positive energy of the show (and chika! lol) 💕
i actually first got into love live when aqours wasn't even a thing (late 2014), so i got really attached to µ's and mourned their final live for a long time. so long that i didn't even care about sunshine until the anime started, and even then i was very hesitant about moving on. but the fact that it was a direct sequel, that chika loved µ's as much as i did... that deeply resonated with me and i fell in love with everything surrounding aqours. and, of course, the storyline of the 3rd years altered my brain chemistry forever.
my first recommendation would be to watch love live if you haven't already. if you liked sunshine, i think you will like the original show as well. sunshine references a lot of love live events and it's very cool to see them diverge from the path of µ's to become their own stars :)
then, i would listen to the aqours discography, which may seem like an overwhelming task considering they have over a hundred? two hundred? songs, but it really is the easiest way to get brainworms in your head. going in release order may help, and i'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised at how good a lot of side tracks are ("deep resonance" from mitaiken horizon's cd, "aqours pirates desire" from fantastic departure's cd, "game on!" from genjitsu mysterium's cd...)
with all of that done, you are ready to watch some concerts!! love live tends to do "numbered" lives, as in "aqours 1st lovelive step zero to one" or "aqours 4th lovelive sailing to the sunshine", and i highly recommend watching at least those. they also have fanmeetings and other smaller events, but the numbered lives are regarded as the peak of love live for good reason. the staff are very strict about not letting fans record the concerts, and this is because they release blu-rays with high quality. they are so beautiful and immersive that i genuinely feel like i'm there in the venue just from watching them on my computer. here's a very helpful piracy site in which you can search by keywords, and here's the website of the best group of fan translators of all love live (they have posted torrents of all the aqours concerts with high quality subs <3 love you team ONIBE)
lastly, the final stepping stone to becoming a true love liver: watching the seiyuus livestreams. they barely do them nowadays, but i often find myself rewatching old videos because of how HILARIOUS they are. they talk about love live events, including concerts, so they may help you get a grasp of the timeline of the group if you watch them in order!! a lot of people have reuploaded them with subtitles on youtube, but i vividly remember being a teenager with zero knowledge about japanese, watching them live and feeling that language barriers weren't a problem for enjoying these 9 girls being stupid on stream. if you don't get good results with searching "aqours livestream", try searching for "aqours niconama" (from "niconico namahousou", since they used to do them on niconico douga/nicovideo back on the day)
aaaand i think that's it! it's been 9 years since the project of love live sunshine officially started, so there's a lot to take in, but i'm glad that you're interested in it ^^ the love live wiki is also very helpful if you get lost - as much as i hate that it's part of "fandom" now, it has a lot of useful information about songs, seiyuus, live events and basically everything you need to know.

Hey there! I don't know if you remember me, but I was the anon who sent you a thing a few months ago to warn you and others about the more abhorrent actions of the artist Namy Gaga (https://www.tumblr.com/dearest-painter/747620174237138944/so-sorry-to-bother-you-but-i-saw-someone-in-a?source=share).
In light of recent events, I felt like doing a follow-up was one of the best things to do since:
I discovered some new information that I wasn't aware of at the time.
Certain events have happened which completely caught me off guard.
Content warning for discussions of victim-blaming, harassment, inappropriate/illegal NSFW artwork, and toxic behaviour (including but not limited to queerphobia).
I discovered a Tumblr account Namy or a fan made in July last year (coincidentally around the time of the victim's lawsuit). I initially theorised it was created to mock any critics Namy had on that platform. As of me writing this, the blog has changed. BUT it has the same username as before (which you can easily find while searching "Namy Gaga" or "Namy G" on here), CONFIRMING THAT SHE DID IN FACT MAKE THAT ACCOUNT TO INITIALLY HARASS PEOPLE.
Originally, I talked about a comic she made in 2018 where she was gatekeeping LGBTQ+ experiences. As of me writing this, she still has not taken it off her Deviantart (I have the link to prove this - please avoid the comments for your mental health as a lot of them are either argumentative, gross or blatantly transphobic: https://www.deviantart.com/namyg/art/LGBT-Correct-answer-Meme-757868018). I did see someone speculate that Namy may have had internalised queerphobia at the time (due to how some people with internalised queerphobia tend to police other people's queerness), but I am also aware that someone who is LGBTQ+ can police other people's queerness and NOT have internalised queerphobia (perhaps there are other reasons OR they're just a you-know-what). That's just my opinion tho and I'm open to hear yours (if you want ofc).
As of me writing this, she has opened up about being genderfluid and still identifies as sapphic/queer (not specifically lesbian tho). While a part of me wants to believe that Namy has grown from her past queerphobic actions and opinions, I am of the firm belief that just because someone is LGBTQ+ (regardless of their experiences or the terms they use) doesn’t excuse/dismiss bad behaviour. - from a bisexual person with multiple LGBTQ+ friends
Remember when I talked about a Google Drive that Namy made to paint one of her victims as a liar - using actual screenshot evidence (of text conversations, etc.) that could definitely look incriminating in a court of law (if the victim's initial lawsuit were to progress any further, which I haven't found any updates about as of me writing this). TURNS OUT THERE WAS A CRUCIAL DETAIL I DIDN'T MENTION WITHIN THAT GOOGLE DRIVE. Specifically, a recorded call (video format) between Namy and one of the voice actors for her FNAF AU project, which she put up in March 2024. While I cannot understand Spanish and there were not English subtitles, what I could understand was that Namy was trying to confront the voice actor about the victim "cheating on her with them” when the victim was most likely trying to confide in the voice actor and tell them what Namy was doing to her.
Speaking of which, as of July this year, Namy has privated the Google Drive that she released in December 2023 (probably to cover her backside legally, bc of backlash from her critics, reasons which I've detailed below, or all three).
Within the same month, Namy posted a vent drawing (her current self punching her "old self") both on her Devianart and Facebook: https://www.deviantart.com/namyg/art/Namy-G-vs-Namy-Gaga-1079871130. Attached was a paragraph explaining that, upon going to see a therapist, she realised that her actions from 2023 and before (some of which I detailed previously - including the inappropriate/illegal NSFW) were unacceptable and that she has since apologised for those behaviours. IF THIS IS TO BE BELIEVED, I HAVE THIS MESSAGE FOR NAMY ON THE OFF-CHANCE SHE READS THIS: I understand that you want to unlearn toxic behaviours, to unlearn transphobic and other queerphobic mindsets, and to unlearn the idea that promoting inappropriate/illegal NSFW on public platforms is normal (since I’m of the belief you may have been desensitised/pressured into thinking it was normal). And I admire/respect that desire to change. But it WILL take a really long time and a lot of effort for people to forgive you, especially the people you hurt (if they're inclined to forgive you at all). I’m not accusing you of being Satan or anything like that, but no amount of learning from the incidents regarding the queerphobia, the narcissism and the NSFW artwork is going to change this fact: YOU STILL BROKE THE LAW IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY TWICE, NO MATTER HOW YOU TRY TO PAINT IT. Even IF it is true your first victim forgave you, you will NOT be immune to the law and someone will eventually report you. And about one of your newest posts on your Tumblr: WHY ARE YOU ACTING SURPRISED WHEN YOUR SECOND VICTIM STILL TELLS HER AUDIENCE THAT YOU HURT HER?! IF her lawsuit does progress and you end up being convicted in court (with the evidence YOU used to paint her as the “bad guy”), don’t be surprised if you get jail time.
I apologise for my strong wording in that last point, but I felt it was important to address.
Hope you have a good day/evening and thank you for reading this lengthy update. If you have any thoughts on this, I’m open to hearing them as well.
(To the anyone else reading this, PLEASE DO NOT HARASS/CONTACT NAMY’S FAMILY OR HER CURRENT PARTNER AS THEY (TO MY KNOWLEDGE) HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ALL OF THIS.)
Thank you for informing me and I do not have any thoughts other than I appreciate you making it known and at least making light to it. Also as Anon said, do not harass or contact Namy’s family or her partner as there is no proof any of them have done any of it or participated

Hey! So watching through The Daleks in Colour now, and thought I'd note down my thoughts, as someone who very much likes advocating for and discussing the idea of colourisation, re-edits etc. Comments not in order, as I'll be popping back and forth between sections with my notes.
The colouring is pretty impressive. There's some tone choices I would have done differently, and I have spotted a couple places where its a bit off (eg. colour not aligning perfectly - see One speaking when they discover the environomental radiation for example, there's a bit of odd yellow colouring around his upper lip - maybe a side effect of the chromatic abberation?).
However overall I think stuff like the faces and hair were done extremely well, which is pretty impresive since that can often be the hardest thing to do. And while I do disagree with some of the environmental colours etc., they do capture the 60s adventure tv aesthetic fairly well. I would just probably have leaned a little more modern/cinematic personally. I do wonder how many of the colours used are taken from colour set photos, as that might explain some of the choices. On the other hand, they're clearly not strictly using those colours, as the TARDIS clearly differs in colour from the set as we've seen it behind the scenes and in AAiSaT.
The lighting was pretty well done too, as is some of the chromatic abberation, though like I said I think it does have some detrimental effects in some places.
Editing feels ok, and keeps the pace up quite well. It does lose some importance bits though. I would probably have gone for a longer runtime, maybe 90 mins, rather than the 75.
I think it could have done with an extra beat when Barbara gets lost within the city, as it makes the others reuniting and searching around feel a bit too quick. Also a little bit of an edit-induced plot hole with Susan remarking how "there WAS someone outsidfe last night" when we completely skipped over that scene. Cutting that scene out does make her seem a bit less 'hysterical' though, which isn't the worse edit-based change in characterisation. That being said, the way they didn't directly show the Doctor sabotaging the fluid link, but left just enough to imply it was pretty clever.
Oh! I realise one reason why they chose to use this story. There's a LOT of cuts they can get away with just by dubbing the Daleks and adding flashing lights. I haven't seen the original serial enough times to notice them all, but I did pick up on the slightly hasty one as they interrogate the Doctor. Interestingly it also sounds to me like they tried to edit/redub the line about "Dalek forefathers" to say "Kaled forefathers" as it sounds different to me from the original, but is quite ambiguous. The subtitles still say Dalek, so maybe I'm just hearing things.
Some of the cross-edits work quite well, but the flashbacks are way too much, especially with a shortened runtime. Feels like some of that time could definitely have been better used giving the pacing some room to breath. Not showing Susan writing the letter is kinda ok, but does make you question why the Daleks are continuing to keep them prisoner. You kind of have to rely on the Dalek giving the plan idea earlier, which kind of just results in breaking 'show don't tell'. Another edit I wouldn't have made: they cut out the cell camera being broken. This one feels kinda major imo, so it's a surprising choice. I definitely would have left it in. Using the Daleks monitoring recordings of the scenes with the Thals for quick cuts is kind of clever again, but does feel too much like a cut-down recap video. There really needs to be a bit more room to breath here. It also makes Ian encouraging the Thals to fight back feel a bit too sudden and his scheme kinda seems insane.
While I liked seeing the classic city reproduced in CGI for that opening shot, doing something so dynamic did feel a little gratuitous. CGI TARDIS shots as it tries to dematerialise were also an odd choice, as they were very blatant, looking more like animation than anything, and I imagine it could be done more convincingly. The zaps (and sound effect) as the Daleks fire is a very good addition though - exactly the sort of added effect that I reckon is justified, given it's quite simple but adds a lot.
As for the music, I think they did a pretty good job overall in keeping the correct tone while expanding on the score. I'm maybe not enough of an expert on the classic soundtracks to comment really. Maybe a tad overactive when the Daleks first appear - it could have quietened down a bit after they tell the Doctor, Ian and Susan to move. Oh my god, I just got to the bit where Dalek!Ian is leading them through the corridors. The music and editing is certainly... a choice. On one hand, it's very fun. On the other hand... wtf...? With Susan guiding them it kind of feels like all those 'memelord' Susan jokes come to life. The whiplash going into them having to leave Ian behind kinda breaks it though.
Speaking about the Ian and Thals scene again, the music is a bit too much. Again it kind of makes it sound like Ian's talk is serious, even though he's just trying to encourage the Thals to defend themselves. Hmm, yeah I think the music was pretty good in the first half, but it's definitely trying a bit too hard in the second. Actually, in general the second half does feel a bit weak compared to the first half, but I suppose that can also be said with regards to the original serial.
Sound effects were well done. Cloister bell sounding as the TARDIS tries to dematerialise is a fun addition. I do feel it's overused a bit nowadays, but it's placement here seems reasonable, if you assume continuing to try and dematerialise would have put the TARDIS in actual danger.
I might have sounded quite negative with some of my nitpicks, but overall I did really quite like this! It feels like a good proof of concept for further re-releases anyway, but there were some odd choices throughout. A less aggressive runtime edit would probably have done wonders for it. As I mentioned above, I do also feel the first half was a lot stronger than the second.
If I had the time (which I definitely don't right now, between work, my PhD/thesis, Class Ongoing, Galliversary contribution, and other secret exciting stuff), I'd love to go through and attempt a re-edit, colourising and sticking some of the shots/scenes I think ought to have been kept, and tweaking some of the colour choices. Maybe attempt a widescreen expansion too, since most of the colour work is already done.
