Prodigious!

Izzy is the reason all these kids are still alive btw just wanted to make sure we all know that
So Izzy is smart. He brings a laptop and cellphone to summer camp and uses big words. But thankfully he does not fall into the trap of 'smart kids' of western media; overly nerdy, completely socially inept, you get the idea. No, Izzy is more than that. His intelligence has a basis in something besides a trope; namely, computer science and engineering.

(Don't even get me started on Matt being the one to go into engineering when IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IZZY)
From the moment the kids land in the Digital World, Izzy is curious about it. His crest is knowledge but I really think it should've been curiosity. He gets Tentomon to evolve by hacking his code. He comes up with some aliens conspiracy to explain why they're there and why there's things like phone booths on the beach.

Izzy is the problem solver of the group. In fact, without him, the other kids are just... Kinda lost. Izzy has the answers, and if he doesn't he'll at least know how to find them.
Even though he's younger than the others, being 10 when they're 11, they treat him as an equal. This is opposed to the other kid that's 10, Mimi, who is kind of coddled, and the two youngest, TK and Kari, who are literally the hope and light of the group.
Izzy is basically Tai's second-in-command, deferring to Tai's leadership while Tai takes his input very seriously. However, Izzy isn't much of a leader on his own.

He gets distracted by details. When Mimi finds him in the temple, he's so busy on his laptop that she gets upset and runs off into a maze. I would attribute this to him being younger, and as he gets older he does get better at applying his intelligence to a leadership role.
Most of the kids have an interesting family dynamic and Izzy is no different. It's revealed that he's adopted, that his birth parents died shortly after he was born and his adoptive parents were friends that took him in.

What I like about this reveal is that, of course, Izzy found this out on his own due to his curiosity. He overheard his parents discussing whether or not they should tell him, deciding not to because he's too young.
During the Odaiba raid, when the kids have a moment, Izzy gets to finally have the conversation. They admit that he's adopted and tell him what happened, and he says he already knows. He didn't want to bring it up himself because he thought he could just pretend like things were normal, like before he knew. But obviously it couldn't. This shows the price he pays for his curiosity, that sometimes knowing things isn't all fun times and computer jargon. It isn't helpful for Izzy to pretend to not know, to ignore what he knows. Instead it's better for him to apply what he knows to react appropriately, instead of hiding behind the easier mode of willful ignorance.
This also comes into play, though in a different way, during Izzy's confrontation with Vademon. Izzy gives away his curiosity (under extreme duress but still) and is basically empty of all character after that. He does a weird alphabet yoga meditation and willingly gives up his crest and tag, when earlier in the episode his curiosity was at a boiling point over it.

This causes Tentomon to de-digivolve to the baby stage; the only other partner Digimon to go back to this stage is Patamon. With the loss of his curiosity, Izzy has lost the core of his being and is no longer able to maintain Tentomon's existence.
Of course, he gets it back and everything is fine afterwords. This episode is very interesting when looking at how things work for the kids and their Digimon, why the crests are important, etc. But that's a post for another time.

Izzy is incredibly important to the team. Without him, I highly doubt they would've made it very far at all. He's able to look up Digimon on his laptop, kind of like a Digimon version of a Pokedex, when none of the currently present Digimon can give an explanation about who they're up against. But aside from his usefulness as the Smart Kid, it's noteworthy that he uses his intelligence to be helpful instead of lording it over everyone. And he is still a kid, albeit with an impressive vocabulary, so sometimes his curiosity gets him into trouble.

I'm recycling headcanons but that's okay dw about it
illiterate Minho, you can't fucking stop me
during his brainwashing sequence, someone gets the genius idea to erase his English comprehension
because he was reading the EXIT signs and nearly succeeding in escaping
the brainwash actually causes a mild problem, and for about two weeks, he loses his ability to understand English completely and says nothing but total gibberish
when that gets tweaked, they then have to meticulously go through and erase every single memory he has of himself reading
because he was going insane trying to remember what those letters floating in his head meant
which means erasing the memory of Thomas piecing the Maze code together
which leads to erasing his memory of the Glade completely
he's not a blood bag anymore; they don't need to prey on his loyalty to the Gladers for his fear and enzymes
the less sentimental he is, the better
he used to write everything he knew about the Gladers onto his notepad, one of the few items they let him keep in his cell.
Just in case he ever forgot
the color of Newt's eyes when it caught the sunlight, the way Alby's face seemed three years younger when he smiled, Chuck's high-pitched squeak of a laugh, the way Thomas' lips felt on his
just for the cruel humor of it, the scientists let him keep his notepad
it's not like he can read it anyway
in Safe Haven, Thomas takes on the difficult job of teaching him how to read again
it takes about a year and a half to actually start learning because of how much WCKD baggage Minho has to heal from first
much to his dismay, it's the new cause of his and Thomas' arguments
at least, he would be dismayed. But getting sad was never his strong suit
when Minho feels anything, it always converts to anger
forget nightmares of scalpels and white-hot brands shaped like claws. When Minho closes his eyes, he sees fuckin' runes floating around
"I don't fucking know these fucking, goddamn letters, and I'm fucking sick of it! Fuck this! Fuck you!" he snaps, shoving the desk so hard the papers go flying. A pencil lodges itself into the soft wood pole holding up the tent.
"Minho, you're getting it! You know the alphabet, that's a massive milestone!"
"I'm not a fucking kid! Oh, I know the fucking alphabet, shit you apparently learn when you're a toddler. Except I remember fuckall from when I was a toddler because I had my brain leaking out of my skull for a year. Glad you made it out okay, WCKD's little golden boy."
Tears spring to Thomas' eyes on that last remark. "That's not fair and you know it."
"I'm not a fucking kid!" Minho yells back, too angry to be guilty. "I'm not a fucking- I'm not a test subject, Thomas!"
"No one said you were!"
"Really? Because it really feels like you're just trying to see if a loser like me can still learn this baby bullshit. Just make a graph that says I failed or something and show it to those psychiatrists I know you still talk to. I'm done with this."
Thomas is too stunned to say anything back. Minho thinks he's like WCKD? Just another doctor to cut him open and study him?
That fucking asshole-
Minho storms out of the tent with Thomas yelling at him to never come back
Jorge coaxes Minho into his tent after his particularly harsh argument with Thomas
and teaches him curse words
"These were your Glader curses," Jorge murmurs gently, scribbling shank onto a piece of paper. His handwriting is worse than Thomas' by a mile, and better than Minho's by ten.
"I don't wanna know that shit."
"Shit," Jorge repeats, writing the word as he does. "This is how you spell it."
"That letter makes an "ss" noise. Not a "shh" noise."
"Haven't gotten there with Thomas yet?" Jorge asks kindly.
Minho scowls at him. "I know my fucking alphabet. I know what sound that letter makes."
Well, being angry was always Minho's strong suit.
what better to learn than angry words?
Jorge plays him like a fiddle. He should be mad, but he's too interested to care
"This is how you write 'Fuckhead.' You can write this on a paper, add a little tape on the top, and stick it on Frypan's back the next time he puts you on dishwashing duty."
"How about 'dickface', do you think you can spell that without me? What letters do you think should be there?"
when Minho's about to leave, he suddenly dawdles
looks... embarrassed, almost
it's a good look on him, Jorge thinks
Ever since Thomas started trying to teach him how to read, he's been walking about with a permanent scowl
So quietly that Jorge almost misses it, Minho asks, "How do you write 'I'm sorry'?"
and Jorge sits down patiently at his desk
he teaches him "I love you" too
Minho didn't ask to be taught that, but he also didn't leave or say something snarky when Jorge wrote it and had him practice
Thomas gets a crudely written apology letter with some doodles on the side
for someone who spent three years sketching mazes, Minho really can't draw for shit
but he can write "I'm sorry. I love you."
Thomas' apology letter back is a revision of his curriculum
Minho can't read a single word on the list and just stares blankly
"I liked Jorge's idea of teaching you words you want to know," Thomas mumbles into the crook of Minho's shoulder as he cuddles him from behind
Minho just drinks in the feeling of Thomas' arms around him
sleeping alone is awful and cold
how he thought he could ever survive without Thomas' arms around him, he doesn't know
he spells the words "stupid fucking dumbass" in his mind
they look wrong in his head until he remembers the B in "dumbass"
speaking of which...
"I learned when two letters make one sound," he says proudly. "They're called digraphs."
then immediately realizes he sounds like a little kid, craving Thomas' approval
but Thomas' excited gasp and kiss to the back of his neck washes away whatever regret he might've had
"There's an H in your name," Minho mumbles as he slips into sleep in Thomas' warm embrace
"There's two S's in 'kiss,'" Thomas whispers to him.

Incredible Games on imdb and on Wikipedia
Every few years I remember about this show and forget what it's called.
Remember the second series so much more vividly than the first. Crystal Maze-esque kids show with the vibe of tumbling up the rabbit hole. That Darth Vader esque knight on a chessboard scared the shit out of me!! Such dark energy and I couldn't stop watching was such a stressful watch!! (And they wonder why millennials have anxiety 😂) I remember feeling relieved sometimes when they lost cos they had to go down the bin chute into the basement and even though it felt like they were trapped in there forever I guess? at least they weren't up in the penthouse with the creep 😅 loved the alphabet soup though 😂 and the hand through gloves in the wall! Much more dramatic than it sounds and still a fit issue I find as an adult 🤣 but even the fact they could get gunged while trapped in a Victorian schoolroom like they'd travelled through time just to be low key humiliated by a ghost was so eerie to me. Anyway 10/10, great for a rewatch 🤣
*ps - the Dark Knight from series 1 went on to become the recast Tinky Winky in Teletubbies 👀

Ikea Adventure
What starts as a quick trip to Ikea with Kaminari turns into a chaotic adventure as you get lost in the maze-like store. Between navigating endless displays, getting distracted by ridiculous furniture names, and Kaminari’s constant jokes, the day becomes more fun than expected. As the day goes on, you both realize that maybe getting lost in Ikea wasn’t such a bad thing after all - especially when the company is this good.
What was supposed to be a quick trip to Ikea had spiralled into something much more chaotic, as expected with Kaminari. You both stepped into the store with a clear plan: grab a bookshelf for the dorms and leave. Simple, right? You should’ve known better.
The moment you entered, Kaminari's eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store. “Alright! Let’s do this,” he exclaimed, a grin spreading across his face as he grabbed a cart. You tried to remind him that you were only here for one thing, but as soon as the two of you passed the first display, that idea flew out the window.
“Look at this!” Kaminari pointed to a couch with a name that seemed to be missing half the alphabet. “Why do all the names sound like spells? I swear I’m gonna start summoning something if I say them out loud.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, nodding in agreement. “Seriously. How do you even pronounce Snöblig? Is that a chair or a mythical creature?”
“Probably both,” he chuckled, clearly having way too much fun.
What started as a focused search quickly became a maze of endless displays. Every turn led to another set of perfectly staged rooms, each more distracting than the last. Kaminari made it worse by stopping at practically every other item, testing out chairs, and mimicking TV hosts as he ‘sold’ you on various pieces of furniture.
“See this lamp? Mörtkver, it’s not just a lamp - it’s a lifestyle,” he said in a deep, exaggerated voice, lifting the lamp like it was some grand prize. “You need this in your life.”
You shook your head, playfully shoving him. “We need to find that bookshelf, remember?”
“Oh yeah! The bookshelf. Right,” he said, steering the cart down yet another aisle. “I’m sure it’s around here somewhere…”
Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
You wandered through the store, passing section after section, following arrows that only seemed to lead you in circles. After what felt like an eternity, you stopped to look around, realizing just how far off course you had gotten.
“Are we lost in Ikea?” you asked, half-joking but also kind of serious. The store had this strange ability to make you feel like you were in another dimension, one filled with never-ending home décor.
“Lost?” Kaminari gave you a mock scandalized look. “No way. We’re just… exploring.”
You crossed your arms, raising an eyebrow. “Exploring, huh?”
He winked. “Exactly. Exploring is way more fun than just shopping.”
And, to be fair, he was right. The more time you spent wandering around with him, the less concerned you were about finding the bookshelf. Each display became a new adventure, filled with goofy commentary and impromptu ideas. At one point, Kaminari decided he wanted to test out every bed he saw, diving onto the mattresses dramatically while you tried to stifle your laughter.
“This one’s too firm,” he declared, rolling over on a sleek modern bed. “But this one…” He leaped onto a plush, oversized one and grinned up at you. “This one’s perfect for a post-training nap. C’mon, you gotta try it.”
You shook your head but couldn’t resist. Lying next to him, you realized just how comfortable it was. “Okay, you’re right. It’s amazing.”
“Told ya.” Kaminari propped himself up on his elbows, looking at you with that carefree smile. “Who knew Ikea would be this fun?”
You didn’t answer right away, taking in the moment. What was supposed to be a mundane trip had turned into something unexpectedly fun. Maybe it was the ridiculous furniture names or the fact that Kaminari had a way of turning even the simplest of tasks into an adventure, but you found yourself enjoying every second of it.
“Yeah,” you finally said, meeting his eyes. “It’s been way more fun than I thought.”
His smile softened, and for a second, the chaos around you faded. “You know,” he started, his voice a little quieter now, I wouldn’t mind getting lost with you more often.”
Your heart did a little flip at that, but before you could respond, he hopped up and stretched. “But first, we have to find that bookshelf! Onward, my fellow adventurer!”
Laughing, you got up and followed him. Despite the chaos, despite getting lost in what felt like a never-ending maze of flat-pack furniture and Swedish names, you wouldn’t have traded this day for anything.
As the two of you finally made your way to the checkout - still without the bookshelf, somehow - you realized that maybe getting lost wasn’t so bad after all. Especially when you were with someone like Kaminari, who made even the most ordinary day feel like an adventure. Though next time, you were just gonna order the furniture on Amazon.

Do your fankids have special family traditions for Christmas? If so, which ones?
Hmmmm... Not entirely sure. I mean, all of them celebrate Gyftmas, as opposed to Christmas, which was actually in the game and is a holiday of giving gifts as an apology to Gyftrot after a bunch of teens decorated them. The holiday's are very similar, so it doesn't really matter.
I suppose with the Blook kids, Papyrus still regularly hosts the annual holiday party, which Broadway, Rexi, Playbill and Chicago sometimes help with. Broadway's favorite part is decorating with glare Dadaton, Rexi enjoys picking out the playlist, Playbill enjoys cooking with Papyrus and coming up with some gizmo or other to help, and Chicago likes helping with the Holiday Maze.
For the DF kids, I can't think of anything too special they'd do. Mostly just imagine Toriel making Gyftmas pies. Sariel likes to help bake them, while CK's favorite part is eating them.
The Pisces family (Alphyne) would likely have a binge-fest of different anime holiday specials leading up to Gyftmas, where they'd watch the Mew Mew Kissy Cutie Christmas Special on Gyftmas Eve. I also imagine on Gyftmas Day, they have an ice hockey match. Usually just between Giko, Naomi, and Undyne though, since Izuku and Alphys aren't the biggest on sports. The kids might invite some of their friends over, and Undyne might invite Paps over.
For Britni's family, Catty and Bratty go all out both at home and at Trash Mart. Britni finds it a little irritating to be honest, but she enjoys making upcycled ornaments and hand-crafting gifts. Britni's family always hand-makes gifts, not necessarily because they're cheap, but it's more fun that way. Britni also regularly enjoys comparing the similarities between Gyftmas and Christmas, and studying some of the Pagan origins of the holiday. As well as constantly wondering "How/why did they insert Jesus into this?"
Wilbur spends a lot of the Holiday season with his Pops, Asgore, as well as with Noelle and Exriel, as those two interact with the old goat man the most. As a result, Wilbs has a few Gyftmas traditions. He, Exriel, and Asgore try and fail to make cookies, Wilbur often creates gingerbread houses with Noelle, Asgore finds ways to let Wilbur be "Santa's little helper", Exriel gets Wilbur's help with winter gardening in the greenhouse and some of his botany experiments, etc. All of it leads up to Gyftmas Eve where Wilbur spends the day at Noelle and Suzy's house until later in the evening when they head to the Gyftmas tree.
All of them though share one tradition that's a special Gyftmas tradition from all the way back in the Underground. On Gyftmas Eve, everyone will gather around a big tree that the whole community helped decorate and exchange presents. It's become a big an extravagant event since the Monsters have come to the Surface. Now the exchange works by throughout the season, people will leave gifts for people under the tree. Both for their friends, family, loved ones, and even a few unmarked ones to go to anyone who didn't get any gifts from anyone else. On Gyftmas Eve, Santa (who's definitely not just Asgore in a costume) will sit down and read out the names so people can come up and receive their gifts. It goes in alphabetical order and it's a big event, so he usually doesn't get through the whole list before he has to go, but he still tries. After he inevitably has to leave, people are allowed to just grab the gifts themselves. With the assistance of Santa's helpers so nothing bad happens. People are also allowed to pick up gifts all the way until January 6th when the tree comes down and any unclaimed gifts are donated to charity.
