who's more likely to win in a fight between saint-just and carnot? and can we check?
I don't think it's my place to say, and also no. Please don't give them any more ideas.

is there anything beyond Desmoulins and Saint-Just's handul interactions because the recent rise of works involving the two had been mind boggling to say the least. I suppose it's artistic freedom, no different from people who ship Saint-Just with Robespierre, but what makes Desmoulins and Saint-Just so appealing together other than the two being the epitome of beauty. Is it merely the sight of two beautiful men that get people going? Or is there something between them that I have missed because as far as I am aware they hate each other's guts.
Iâve gathered all Iâve been able to find about the relationship between SJ and Desmoulins in this post, so you can always check that out to see if thereâs anything youâve missed (and if someone knows anything thatâs not included in that post, please let me know!). I would say it is the âenemies to loversâ trope that makes the ship appealing, maybe also the âopposites attractâ? But this of course has more to do with an âidea of them,â the historical sources, like you say, unfortunately not telling us that much (but at the same time that might be what renders the relationship more interesting, because what was it really that SJ started to despise Desmoulins over?) The two donât exactly appear to have been the hottest guys in the Convention either (at least according to contemporary testimonies, Desmoulins was apparently ugly as hell while people canât seem to make up their mind on Saint-Just. But the influence of historical novelists and romanticizers is of course there to even that particular issue outâŠ)
#saint just#desmoulins#louis antoine saint just#camille desmoulins#frev#ask#i suppose this can serve as a birthday present to sj đ„ł#i feel a bit bad for him for being made into the âdevil that convinced robespierre to kill camilleâ in so much media#when irl he isnât even recorded to have spoken about the vieux cordelier etc when all that played outâŠ

very minor thing I still definitely deserve a medal for:
being raised catholic, and now as an adult repeatedly falling in love with characters that fandoms like to declare catholic, but still managing to reject those headcanons because at heart I'm too much of a stickler for accurate analysis to get behind them when i know the person in question is really meant to be anglican/episcopalian/whatever other flavor of christian
i am being, as the poets say, so brave about it
#i dont wanna list examples bc this is just a lil vent post im not looking to make this pop up in any tags & insult anybody#bc tbh some of the worst offenders are absolutely top-tier favorite characters of mine with woefully small fandoms#& the LAST thing i wanna do is be rude about or discourage anyone who posts about/writes for/discusses them#just because i happen to have trouble getting on board with one part of their analysis.#but it does amaze me that this Keeps happening#talk about resisting temptation#& for the record when i say 'raised catholic' i do not just mean christmas and easter catholic okay#im talking 'college was the first time in my life religion wasnt a required subject' catholic#'virtually everybody i knew as a teen went to different single-sex high schools' catholic#horrible uniforms. strict nuns. classes interrupted for masses for even the minor holidays. joined choir for something to do-catholic#as an adult i still have friends & acquaintances who work in/for churches type-catholic#my mom actively tries to hide rosary beads & scapulars in my bags & car every time i come home catholic#(i dont even think most people know what scapulars ARE for christ's sake! & if they think they do they're probably picturing the wrong one#meanwhile i've got a routine list of hiding spots to check for them before driving away)#my point is.#if it made even a scrap of sense for any of these characters to actually be catholics trust me i'd be the FIRST one saying so#bc i know i could write the SHIT out of all the angsty repressed queer guilt religious trauma stuff everyone's drawn to it for#that's like the very least i could get out of having been up to my eyeballs in it for the first two decades of my life#but 99% of the time it just doesn't track w/ what we know about them at all im sorry.#im sorry your moodboard yearns for stained glass saints#im sorry your fic hinges upon a flashback to a certain sacrament#but im just not buying it

Songs I like from TTPT, having had a break.
Fortnight. I felt absolutely nothing for this the first time I heard it but it's a slow burn. I cannot recommend listening to it the four or five times it took to really hit for me, but I love you and it's ruining my life did get stuck in my head on a loop.
The Bolter. I think this one suffers from overwriting but honestly I am a sucker for a good story about emotionally unavailable women making predictable choices
Florida!!! I had fun with this one but it doesn't really stick with me. I do enjoy yelling floRIDAAA though.
So Long, London. imo this is just a solid breakup song. I feel for the singer, who is conveying the specifics of her grief in terms relatable enough for me to project onto it. It does suck when someone who used to make your day by walking into the room is increasingly emotionally unavailable in lieu of pulling the trigger themselves and you have to do it for them.
I Can do it with a Broken Heart. A bop! I think this one will stand the test of time and stick around in the same lowkey way Bruno Mars' lazy song did because it's good to have a song for spackling manic cheerfulness over the void in much the same way it is good to have a song for being a wastrel.
Anyway all this to say I think Taylor Swift should do a Henry the Eighth themed music video where she casts herself as Henry and actors who are obviously meant to represent her exes as his assorted wives and mistresses and just go to town on depictions of herself feasting and jousting and fighting with the Pope.
#press says tswift#i think this concludes my ttpd blogging#i'm going to wind up listening to the first half again when the record arrives but i feel cleansed and also like even my most#beloved swiftie is a little done with it#actually i like i can do it with a broken heart significantly more than i like the lazy song. but some days you really don't feel like doin#anything. he was right about that. i'm big enough to admit it#shoutout to saint mela's the bends which is what i'm listening to now and has me going baby girl ;___________;#i'm just a grown woman wallowing in what this has done to my spotify algorithm#ok i lied. all of these songs are also about wwx. usually also jiang cheng

One day im going to fuss out the theological like. Assignments structure whatever of the emblems in the divine dragon church (i guess like sorts of guardian spirits or angels or some sort of equivalent that i dont have the vocab for) and also fuss out how at least the royals end up when folded into the faith as saints, part of a semi-desperate bid by alear to immortalize what he can of his friends
(it only partly works because in canonizing them they are forever part of the faith but they are aggrandized and sanctified and thus stripped of some of the human flaws and quirks that made alear so fall in love with them in the first place and so their memory is forever and forever it is tainted)
#katie rambles#needless worldbuilding? yeah. always.#anyways i get sad thinking about this so much that like#one day it really hits alear that his friends are growing old. they're going to die one day.#and he rushes over to his church like 'im god right i can do what i want right then everyone who fought with me is getting sainted'#he doesnt like flexing his title or abusing it but this is an exception#because this way there's always going to be a record of them right he can always keep some memory of them right#and then years down the line having a second realization that they are preserved#but they are perfect. too perfect perhaps.#and they are slipping away from him still#and now he's simply made it worse by clinging to the icons made in their image and the prayers that catch in his throat#(be sad with me damn u all)#fe engage#fe17

interestingly the only mention i can find of a monastery loquarium is (rendered "loquorium") in "the california padres and their mission" by charles francis saunders and joseph smeaton chase, a book in the public domain:
The Mission relics at Santa InĂ©s are many and interesting. Besides those used in the present-day church services, and the beautiful old vestments that are in the sacristy, there is a considerable collection arranged for interested visitors in an interior room of the convento â a room formerly used as the loquorium, where daily, after dinner and after supper, the friars were at liberty to come to rest for an hour from their laboring and praying, and relax in human chat.
the next paragraph also mentions this room now housing relics "patiently got together from all sorts of places," including "from the earth of the surrounding fields as the plough turns it up"
#originally the search yielded archive.org's text version which seems to have been like that autogenerated version from (their own) scan#where it clearly results in a lot of typos as it's ''misread'' like ''inés'' becoming ''in6s''#so it made it difficult to cross reference w/the pdf scan lol...''convento'' had become ''comento'' like i figured that was wrong but had t#actually see the original text to know what had gone wrong there#speaking of limited information recorded in specific places....#how that santa inés is i believe from saint agnes; the portuguese form being inez#akd's character in ''the outside story'' being called ''inez'' in some articles but in the movie they're only called/credited as ''izzy''#a potential nickname; i could believe that this jumped off from them being named inez but thus far it remains apocrypha lol....#pentiment#it's also ofc like; how many resources on olden monastery rooms that aren't scanned / converted to text / public domain available thusly...#but you can somewhat expect Monastic Trivia to potentially show up in other sites or even via like online dictionaries....#checked as much by looking up another [term for Special Room in a monastery] and getting various results defining it#oh now i'm remembering some fun research moment learning that some like Christian Order was defined by standing during prayers instead of#kneeling...and the definition is available and they're all exactly the same b/c they all come from One Resource offering that definition#this came from that ''i'm drawing winston's Standing Posture a certain way'' moment where i read the wikipedia page for [standing] lol#which stemmed from reading the wikipedia page for contrapposto in an effort to learn other Artistic Terms For Standing Certain Ways#orthostasis....yep there it is in the ''see also'' section of the wikipedia Standing article: agonoclita / the agonoclites#7th century christian sect who Never Kneeled...name from greek for like ''i do not bend the knee''...One Citation = everyone's sole citatio#oh also noticing that a loquarium was probably all the more relevant when piero seems to note The Rule frowns on too much conversing for fu#like i've been to Dinner With Benedictines In Their Monastery multiple times lol no such pressure modern day to not chitchat#but that when Rule manifestations were thusly; a room that was like ''exempt'' from that would be unsurprising....fun chitchat hq#monasteries of w/e various orders having zones dedicated to being more chill than is supposedly required outside it....#hmm wikipedia's saying benedictines maintain silence As Much As Possible outside bonus silent hrs / social convos are Limited#news to me. also says ''but such details'' abt the day to day life is technically left by The Rule up to whatever Superior of an abbey#evidently the way of doing things at the one i was familiar with / around were not so pressed about silence / rare/limited socializing

hi i'm not sure why my awful 2016-era meme blog is suddenly receiving attention. there is nothing of value for you here, no god roams these forgotten lands. leave while you still can
#it's saint steve buscemi isn't it#god damnit#on a more serious note:#i've always loved the idea of the internet being a graveyard for the blogs of days gone past#still floating around as long as someone keeps paying to keep the domain up#or in tumblr's case until someone decides to hack it#i don't regret the things i pushed out into the world on this blog#because it's a record of who i was back then#cringe and all#so i'll let them sleep in this little corner of the internet#sometimes value is in existing unseen rather than being known#and the hostile architecture is for me not you
