Two Grey Wardens: King Alistair Theirin & His Queen, Sairose Cousland.

This past [late] August & September, I played Dragon Age Origins again (I first played it back in 2011 or 2012: as a high elf and then as a regular/lower caste elf). I was feeling nostalgic in August and decided to play DAO after all this time & I still love it more than ever. It looked a lot smoother on my XBox Series X.

I had decided to play as the noble human from the Cousland family, but made her a warrior. I named her Sairose. And of course, Alistair is just way too adorable. He is the sweetest character ever. I loved his awkward attempts to flirt with my character & their interactions were precious. I wish I could find a real-life Alistair. ;) I also made the choices so that Alistair could become King of Ferelden at the end, with Sairose as his Queen. ^_^ So of course I had two draw them recently. I made Sairose wear a more simple armour (because the armour she had at the end of the game was super detailed & I just didn’t feel like drawing it, lol!). But I kept Alistair in his King armour.

I wanted Sairose to have a rose in her hair, since Alistair’s first gift had been a red rose. That moment was so sweet.

Another thing I absolutely love about DAO is the conversations between characters in your party and their bantering. Zevran’s dialogue is just the best & hilarious! I especially cracked up with this conversation (after Sairose & Alistair have been intimate in their relationship):

Zevran: Might I offer you a bit of advice, my good friend Alistair?

Alistair: I like my hair the way it is, thank you.

Zevran: Truly? As you wish… though my advice is regarding something else completely. It has to do with your recent… exertions with your fellow Grey Warden that I overheard.

Alistair: My…? Oh.

Zevran: It did seem as if you just got going when all grew quiet. You are… feeling all right, yes? Perhaps you are tired?

Alistair: We aren’t talking about this, are we? Did I hit my head?

Zevran: I have some roots from home that you may chew if you need energy. As for volume, perhaps you ought to try arching your-

Alistair: Whoa! Whoa! Awkward!

Zevran: You Fereldens are so finicky. How will you ever learn how to pleasure each other unless you talk about it?

Alistair: Not listening! La la la la la!

I also played Dragon Age II in late September & October, so I have fan art from that as well (with my character & her love interest, Zevran). I haven’t played DAII in a decade!

I started Dragon Age Inquisition about 3 weeks ago, and this is actually the first time I am playing the game. It’s incredibly detailed! And OMG, the maps/environments are HUGE! I love all the quests, too! I’m probably going to make Cullen my character’s love interest. ;)

This was drawn with Sakura Pigma Micron pens and then coloured in with a mix of Copic Markers (for the skin tones) and the rest is Ohuhu markers. The tan/beige parchment paper background was done in Photoshop Elements. I hope everybody likes this. Any other Dragon Age fans out there? Please let me know if you have drawn Dragon Age fan art! I’d love to see it!

he’d been reading when reading when yuu walked into the room, quietly making their way over to him.

“Whatcha reading, babygirl?” yuu asked quietly, a small smirk seeming to rest on their lips

The black haired fae suddenly stopped, a soft gasp escaping his lips, his pale face turning bright pink. Jasper looked up from his book.

"What's with the new nickname..?" His voice was barley more than a whisper, it wavered and cracked.

"Aww...do you not like it? I think it suits you~" Yuu teased.

"It's not that I don't like it—its umm...I just...um..." his voice trailed off, clearly still to flustered to form proper sentences.

Yuu just chuckled before kissing him on the cheek, leaving the poor boy even more flustered than before.

Alister:

Alister quickly painted some white roses red, in preparation for an unbirthday party, careful not to drip paint everywhere . However, the boy had red paint smeared on his face. The blonde was so focused that he didn’t notice Yuu, who’d come up behind him.

“What’s up babygirl?”

Alister’s blue eyes widened, his freckled cheeks flushing pink ever so slightly.

“Babygirl?”, he laughed softly “Well, if you must know, I’m painting the roses for the unbirthday party tomorrow.”

Alister turned to go back to painting the roses, in an attempt to hide his reddening face. Yuu gently grabbed his face, giving him a quick kiss on the lips before running off, ignoring the paint that was now also smeared on their face.

Meet Sprocket and Lena!

Lena's actually one of my oldest OCs! I’m actually so, so happy with how she turned out as this is her final revamp. I’ve been trying to redesign her for a little over a year now since she was straight up a genderbent Alister when I first made her. 💀 It was 2015, and I was 10. 😭

And even when I was redesigning her initially, I just couldn’t click on keeping the red/gray color scheme.

In regards to her story, it’s almost set and stone. I am doing some tweaks for her past lore! With the knowledge we have on Lombaxes, of course.

As for Sprocket, she's an older OC as well (technically), but I had never actually come up with a full-fledged story for her. She was just my 11 year old me's self insert. 😂 Her and Lena's stories are intertwined, seeing as how Lena is her adoptive mother (and Alister is her adoptive father/Lena's partner - oc x canon shipper here 😱).

🏳️‍🌈lgbt+ headcanon - bisexual icon babeyyyyy. toyed with the idea of him being intersex at one point, just would hafta be something i did more research on before i would feel comfortable exploring it in more depth.

💌fluffy headcanon- he purrs. i don't care if it makes no sense i love it so i'm holding on to it.

💔angsty headcanon- scratch was placed in foster care from birth, and has never met his birth parents or learned anything about them. he idealizes being part of a family so much because his experience bouncing between foster families wasn't good. even if he doesn't actively remember his life anymore, those feelings of never quite belonging remain.

🧸 hurt/comfort headcanon- it's common practice for ghosts to honor their death anniversary. i think that's one of the few tidbits of his previous life he recalls, even if he doesn't know when or where or how he died (or "died", in the case of wraith!scratch tho he doesn't know that's what he is). he doesn't know his name, so there's no grave to visit. i think he just lights a candle and is still for a while, letting himself feel those feelings of mourning for a single night out of the year.

🪀silly headcanon- he sings to himself when he's SURE nobody is around. he loves showtunes, and gets musicals stuck in his head all the time.

💤sleep headcanon - wraith!scratch related, but i muse on this headcanon sometimes where while he's sleeping he can briefly end up back in his body again. but it's always such a weird experience, he assumes they're simply dreams and forgets about them. it doesn't happen every time or even most of the time, and occurs less and less the longer he's separated from it.

✨a ship i like with this character - there's quite a few, because he's my favorite and therefore everyone is mandated to love on him. BUT the top faves right now are him with sally, jinx, and alister. my gf and i have this whole headcanon canon-divergent backstory that involves some OCs of hers that i ship him with. and of course, your selfship always makes me feel all warm and smiley!

🔪a ship i Don't like with this character - uHH i mean outside of the obvious no-no stuff, i can't think of one?? i guess i don't really ship him with geoff, but i don't dislike it or anything. just kinda neutral on it?

🎃something i think they're afraid of - ok this is another headcanon-based one, but i've noticed scratch cringes very strongly at the idea of being punished by the ghost council (and by THEM specifically, not anything to do with being thrown in the flow since he mentions being yelled at being the thing he's worried about). so i think he experienced some amount of corporal punishment when he was alive, such that the instinct to brace for impact so to speak is still present, when dealing with authority figures.

📦overall feelings about them - it really takes a special kind of character to strike the spark that scratch does in me. he inspires me, he brings me immense comfort and happiness, and i just! really super appreciate the fact he exists. i get embarrassed about how crushy and silly i get over him, because i genuinely do find him loveable, so...it's nice that people enjoy hearing what i have to say and like the things i write and make about him. he's so special, he deserves all the love!

📢favorite thing about them in canon- it's a tie between his voice and his design/animation. i just have this THING with characters where if they have a unique voice and design, my brain hooks on to them and obsessively studies them. their vocal tics, little bits of animation i like, just...the LITTLE things, y'know?

scratch got me right off the bat because i've been a fan of "aqua teen hunger force" since i was a teenager (and it's a popular source of references in my family because we used to watch it together). but the more i watched how he moved and emoted the more entranced i was with him as his own character.

🧨least favorite thing about them in canon- DEALING WITH HIATUSES I MISS HIM SO MUCH

💬favorite line they've said- oh god i'm horrible with picking favorites on stuff like this. i guess when i think favorite lines, i think of stuff that i come back to a lot in writing/analyzing a character, and for scratch that's him awkwardly explaining to molly why he lied to her about knowing lincoln personally. you can hear in his voice that he's trying to sort out his feelings into words, and that's very new for him.

also really like his speech at the end of the s1 finale. it sums up what makes him work so well as a character: he doesn't look down on molly for caring so much, he finds it greatly admirable! even if that's not the way he is, he loves her personality and is proud to be her friend. his avoidance of caring and commitment stems from a fear of being hurt, rather than him just plain being an apathetic jerk.

🔔unpopular opinion- i want the wraith!scratch theory to be canon and don't think it diminishes anything about his sadness or loneliness. hell, i think it's even SADDER to imagine he just plain gave up on being alive.

🔊a song that reminds me of them- "love like you" and "i'm still here" always give me big scratch vibes. would love to do an edit to one of them at some point!

📝misc thoughts/headcanons - i LOVE the aspiring actor headcanon! i like to think he always wanted to get into it, but was so terrified of failure he just never went for it. he'd memorize monologues (that he still remembers, even post mortem, and can recite very easily) and get all prepared, but...just end up sitting in the audience, too petrified of making a fool of himself to get on stage. just love the symbolism of him always being part of the audience, but never the show. feels like a good way to sum up how he lived his life, allowing it all to pass him by in order to avoid being hurt by caring too much.

Camp NaNoWriMo Prep

Camp Nanowrimo is coming up, and I want to get more into writing, so I have a few ideas I could think about. Although, I should because I have been struggling to focus. Still, I have some ideas that would be interesting short stories that I would like to work with.

Hazbin Hotel X Night Vale OC

Violet is a stranger in hell, very much a background character. But it is strange to see a deep around with Alister around. Then she shows up at the hotel with a group of doomed sinners who are more interested in things that many living people don't take seriously, like walking in the rain or riding bikes. Also, what the heck is the Blood Space war?

Reader is based off of an OC I made for Twilight and never used. Her name is Elizabeth but the description will be set up like any other reader insert.

Elizabeth was the ex-mate of Aro, she was only eighteen when he turned her and locked her way till she was hungry enough to have killed her whole village including her own family, forced to live with the guilt. She had befriended Alistair after Aro grew tired of her and the two developed an interesting relationship, they were mates..and they never stopped being mates, but they understood they wanted different things. Alistair wanted to seclude himself while Elizabeth wanted to be near humans and other vampires. Alistair thought he was okay with her leaving, but he missed her, things were less bright around, his Lizzie only visited every decade, sometimes when she grew bored of the domestic life she'd come back to him.

When she arrived pleading for him to help her family, he reminded her that he was supposed to be her family and she rolled her gold eyes and gave him that look

"Ali, you know what I mean!"

"It's a death wish, if anything you and I should be going into hiding." She reached up and played with his beard

"I won't let anything happen to us, please I wouldn't ask this of you if it wasn't urgent. I didn't fuss at you when you didn't come to the wedding, but I'm asking this of you my love." He let out a useless sigh and laid his forehead on yours

"Is your room still in the attic?"

"Yes, just as you left it so you can sulk." He took her hands in his and studied her features, the scar across her face, the memory of Aro giving it to her replayed in his head as the man broke up with her and the two of them fled later that night. He packed a bag and they met up with Carlisle and Esme a couple days later in England to fly home.

Bella and the others found it amusing how different their Liz was to Alistair. It was nice to see her light up and be a bit more playful as she was usually so serious. Alistair didn't come out of the attic much, but when he did he liked making her flustered, playing with Liz's hair or pinning her to the tree and calling her 'Lizzie'.

"They've always been like that." Carlisle shrugged watching his "sister" and Alistair standing in the tree. When Alistair decided to leave he packed Lizzie's bags and he was going to force her, he couldn't lose her, and she hated her for a few centuries he was okay with that as long as she was around.

"Alistair, my love...you know I'm not going."

"You are! End of discussion, if I lose you I'll destroy everything." He charged at her, her backing up not used to her behaving this way

"Ali I have to do this."

"I won't die here, not like this." He shakes his head and grabs her face and she sighs and leans into his hand

"When this is over I'll go home with you."

"You're coming home now." He tried sound stern but he was soft for only her, in his own way, and she simply kissed his palm and held it close to her chest

"I have to do this, that little girl deserves a chance at life with her parents." She watched as he nodded and grabbed his bag and she pushed one of her bags towards him

"I'll bring the other one with me my love." He kissed her and left without another word. All he did was worry about her, but she knew his fear of death grew daily and while the others called him a coward she would glare and say

"Maybe we're all just to suicidal to notice when to leave." When the Aro and the others arrived, she thought of Alistair, pushing away the thoughts that maybe she should have left with him and when Aro reluctantly left she smiled and embraced her family, they knew what it meant. She would leave, but it was clear that this time would be longer than normal if not permanent. Renesmee cried into her aunt's chest asking her to please not stay away for too long

"I'll bring you gifts when I return my love." Liz smiled kissing her forehead
