Racing DNA: 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ
Some cars are not for everyone due to their value, yet they deserve to be mentioned because they are rare testimonies of a bygone era that can, now, only be perceived through black and white photos in certain books or specialized magazines. This Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ for sale is a rare find, being one of only 169 units produced. Manufactured on January 27, 1961, it was sold to Sergio Sorbi’s…

The project has really taken off Audi reveal plans to test new F1 engine by end of the year
Audi have provided an update on the busy preparations behind their upcoming Formula 1 entry as part of a presentation at the Auto Shanghai exhibition, with key stakeholders in attendance. Audi announced at last year’s Belgian Grand Prix that they will join the F1 grid when new engine regulations – featuring increased electrical power and 100% sustainable fuels – are introduced for the 2026 season. READ MORE: Sauber to become Audi works F1 team from 2026 Shortly afterwards, the German manufacturer set out plans to join forces with Sauber in a move that will see the Swiss operation – currently racing as Alfa Romeo and using Ferrari power units – become their works outfit. While behind-the-scenes efforts gather pace, Audi headed to China to present the project in the Asian market, taking their launch livery showcar along for the journey and unveiling the motto ‘F1 Power made in Germany’. In an accompanying press release, Audi confirmed that their first full hybrid drivetrain unit, comprising a combustion engine, electric motor, battery and electronic control unit, is scheduled to run on the test bench before the end of this year – forming the basis for the future vehicle concept. Audi’s eye-catching launch livery as seen on an F1 showcar Audi’s eye-catching launch livery as seen on an F1 showcar There are also plans for the dynamic development simulator at Audi’s Neuburg facility to be brought up to F1 standards and “further advance the development of the Audi power unit”. Meanwhile, the newly-formed Audi Formula Racing GmbH division now boasts more than 260 specialists, with the core of the development team featuring experienced Audi Sport and Audi employees who hold diverse expertise in electric motorsport. READ MORE: Sauber declare ‘important milestone’ as Audi acquire minority stake ahead of F1 entry Existing employees are being joined by F1 specialists who were sourced externally to strengthen the team, with Audi expecting the hiring process to be completed by the end of the year and staff numbers to have reached more than 300. Alongside this, Audi’s Competence Center Motorsport will be expanded for the F1 project, including the installation of additional test rigs in a new building with a floor area of around 3,000 square metres – a modular design allowing them to be put into operation before the space is fully finished in early 2024. Audi CEO Markus Duesmann during the Audi press conference at Auto Shanghai 2023 Audi’s F1 launch livery on show during the brand’s press conference at Auto Shanghai 2023 “Motorsport is an integral part of our DNA,” said Markus Duesmann, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, at Auto Shanghai. “We are convinced that our Formula 1 commitment will strengthen Audi’s sporting focus. The racing series is continuously increasing its global reach, especially among young target groups and in our most important sales market: China.” BARRETTO: How Sauber are preparing for Audi’s arrival – and keeping the pressure on in the midfield battle Oliver Hoffmann, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at AUDI AG, added: “The Audi Formula 1 project has really taken off in recent months. In the ongoing concept phase of the power unit, the foundation of our drivetrain for 2026 is being laid today. “We attach great importance to detail work, for example on materials or manufacturing technologies, and we also focus on topics such as the energy management of the hybrid drivetrain. “After all, efficiency is a key success factor for Formula 1 and the mobility of the future, [and] these approaches will advance both worlds.” via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

Alfa Romeo Common Issues and Their Solutions
Tumblr media
Introduction:
Alfa Romeo, an Italian automotive legend renowned for its exquisite design and exhilarating performance, has captured the hearts of car enthusiasts for decades. However, like any complex machinery, Alfa Romeos are not immune to common issues that can plague their owners. In this blog, we will explore some of the recurring problems faced by Alfa Romeo drivers and delve into effective solutions.
Electrical Gremlins:
Tumblr media
Alfa Romeos are notorious for their intricate electrical systems, and owners frequently encounter issues ranging from malfunctioning sensors to sporadic warning lights. One prevalent electrical woe is a glitch in the Alfa Romeo DNA (Dynamic, Natural, All-Weather) system, which controls the vehicle's behavior. This can lead to erratic performance or, in extreme cases, a non-starting engine.
Solution: Regular software updates from authorized dealers can often resolve these issues. Additionally, ensuring proper battery maintenance and replacing faulty sensors can provide a more stable electrical system.
Suspension Woes:
Tumblr media
The Alfa Romeo's sporty design and performance come at a cost, with some models prone to suspension-related problems. Owners may experience excessive road noise, uneven tire wear, or a rough ride, particularly in older models.
Solution: Opting for aftermarket suspension components or upgrading to high-quality shock absorbers can significantly enhance the driving experience and mitigate these issues. Regular inspections and timely replacements of worn-out parts are crucial to maintaining optimal suspension performance.
Oil Leaks:
Tumblr media
Oil leaks are a recurring concern among Alfa Romeo owners, often originating from the engine or transmission. This issue can lead to decreased performance, overheating, or even engine failure if left unattended.
Solution: Regularly inspect the engine and transmission for oil leaks, and promptly address any identified issues. Gaskets and seals may need replacement over time, and routine oil changes using high-quality synthetic oil can contribute to a healthier engine.
Clutch Problems:
Tumblr media
Alfa Romeo's manual transmissions are celebrated for their precision and responsiveness. However, some owners may encounter clutch-related issues, such as slipping, difficulty shifting gears, or premature wear.
Solution: Engaging a professional mechanic to inspect the clutch system, including the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, is essential. Upgrading to a high-performance clutch kit may be a viable solution for enthusiasts seeking a more robust and durable option.
Alfa Romeo Giulia/QV Brake Wear:
Tumblr media
Owners of the Alfa Romeo Giulia or Quadrifoglio models may face accelerated brake wear, a common concern reported by many enthusiasts. This can result in reduced braking performance and increased maintenance costs.
Solution: Opting for high-quality brake pads and rotors during replacements can significantly extend the lifespan of the braking system. Additionally, regular brake inspections and adherence to recommended maintenance schedules are crucial for ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0 QV
When we say Alfa Romeo, we say Italy. And when we say Italy, we say Alfa Romeo. The original Alfa Romeo Spider is a real charmer. Especially this Quadrifoglio Verde has lots of fans. Some visual differences with the non-QV versions: modified bumper spoilers, a set of newly designed 15-inch wheels and sturdy side skirts make the Alfa Spider Quadrifoglio Verde just that little bit desirable. The black grille and rear spoiler are typical design features from the 3rd series Spiders called "Aerodinamica". Characteristics such as the round headlights, chrome windscreen strips and door handles have remained intact since the original 1966 model, also known as “Duetto”. This QV was introduced in 1986 and only available in red, silver or black. In Rosso Alfa, the fiery nature really comes to life, so that color is often preferred. You can't argue with the performance of an Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0 Veloce. Hence the choice to provide the Quadrifoglio Verde version with the same power unit. The 2.0 liter 4-cylinder Twin Cam produces 128 hp and a classic rumble; also known as a typical “Alfa sound”. The limited car weight and direct steering perfectly match the sporty DNA of the Romeo among the Spiders. Engine in the front and drive on the rear wheels used to be the recipe for a unique Alfa driving experience. History repeats itself…

Its not like everythings going wrong Vasseur urges calm as he pinpoints Ferraris biggest issue after first two races
Frederic Vasseur has played down Ferrari’s challenging start to the 2023 campaign, which has featured both performance and reliability concerns, but admits the Scuderia need to find some consistency moving forward if they are to join the fight at the front of the field. Ferrari have been in the mix for pole position at the two Grands Prix held so far this season but finished behind the Red Bulls and Fernando Alonso’s Aston Martin on race day at the Bahrain opener, before the Mercedes drivers also slotted ahead of them in Saudi Arabia. READ MORE: ‘There wasn’t much more in the car’ – Leclerc calls on Ferrari to improve ‘a lot’ after distant P7 finish in Jeddah That could have been different were it not for Charles Leclerc’s reliability problems, with an engine issue forcing him out from a podium position at Sakhir before subsequent power unit changes resulted in a 10-place grid penalty for the Jeddah weekend. With Vasseur only a few months into the Team Principal role at Maranello, and Leclerc publicly stating that Ferrari need to improve “a lot”, the Frenchman offered his own assessment of where the team stand and what’s next. “In this situation we have to think about the team and how we improve this situation, but I think we also have to stay calm – it’s not like everything is going wrong,” said Vasseur. Ferrari’s season started with a painful retirement for Leclerc in Bahrain “[In Saudi Arabia] we made some good improvements compared to Bahrain on the one-time pace at least, we opened a little bit the gap to our competitors, not to Red Bull but to Aston Martin and Mercedes. “I think the issue [during the race] was much more about the pace with the hard [compound tyre]; if you look at the weekend that’s something else.” READ MORE: Sainz says it’s difficult to take positives’ from Ferrari’s Saudi Arabian weekend Asked if Red Bull can be caught after their back-to-back one-two finishes, Vasseur said: “I think so; we have to continue to push. It’s not the right attitude to think about the gap and think about will we be able to close the gap and so on. “We have to focus on ourselves, we know when we are weak and we have to improve on this one. We will see what is the outcome when we do a decent step. If you start to think about what could be the future potential with development, you are lost. Sainz and Leclerc were unable to make an impression in Saudi Arabia as Ferrari struggled on the hard tyres “We know we have to improve, but I think it’s the DNA of our sport, not just due to the current situation, but we know we have to work. We’ll continue and you can be sure from [the] morning [after the race] I’ll be in the office and push like hell.” As for whether Ferrari will bring anything new to their car for the next round of the season in Australia, Vasseur confirmed that upgrades are on the way – but again stressed the need to get the most out of their current package before making big changes. READ MORE: World’s first official Formula 1 Exhibition opens in Madrid with a host of incredible displays “I think we’ll have some small updates coming in the next week but honestly, I don’t think that it’s coming for the potential,” said the former Alfa Romeo team boss. “The main issue we have today – all over the weekend – is to be at our maximum and today [that] is not the case. We are not able to extract 100% of our car in every single session. We have to be focused on this before thinking about updates.” via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

In 1967, a Time magazine cover story trumpeted "The Shock of Freedom in Films," praising Hollywood's belated embrace of the French New Wave. The article mostly paid enormous respects to Arthur Penn's Bonnie and Clyde, but passing mention was made of how Mike Nichols' The Graduate, John Boorman's Point Blank and Stanley Donen's Two for the Road enjoyed "a heady new freedom from formula, convention, and censorship." While the others in that list are recognized classics, Two for the Road has generally been regarded as a lightweight charmer. On the surface, it is the stuff of traditional drama: The 10-year marriage of Mark (Albert Finney) and Joanna (Audrey Hepburn) Wallace is recalled, in flashbacks of the couple's past trips through the French countryside. Mark is an architect, and his chief patron has summoned him to finalize a house; this miserable present-day work trip (Joanna has accompanied him) serves as the film's through-line conflict. Is their marriage over? This voyage also acts as a springboard for associative digressions into memories of their first meeting, of their lean newlywed years, of their nightmarish double-date vacation with another couple. The Time article, while praising the "juggling of chronology," dismissed it as "otherwise an ordinary Audrey Hepburn vehicle." Two for the Road is absolutely defined by its chronological structure, in which the vignettes of a lifetime alternate at an increasingly rapid rate, each memory informing all subsequent ones. A characteristic sequence: The just-met couple looks through a cafe window and sees a husband and wife arguing. Unable to hear the argument, they amuse themselves by guessing the source of conflict. We hear Mark's voice, then Joanna's voice, synced to the older couple's gesticulating, as though they're putting words in their mouths. And then we realize that they're no longer pretending—the camera returns to Mark and Joanna, years later, having their own fight. As they walk out of view, a red sports car passes and then roars into the next scene—this time driven by Mark, on his way to a tryst years later. A love letter to Joanna is read over the scene of the tryst, and as he begins his solo trip home, the letter concludes, and Joanna and their young daughter Caroline are suddenly in the car. Joanna offers Mark some of Caroline's ice cream; he refuses. Then the couple is walking together, Joanna feeding Mark an ice cream cone, on their first trip. It's a heartbreaking fugue in which experience corrupts innocence in all of three minutes. Of course, this wasn't the first film to investigate the way memory haunts lovers. The works of Alain Resnais (Hiroshima Mon Amour and Last Year at Marienbad) are perhaps the most famously anamnestic in cinema, but Two for the Road had a close precedent, Claude Lelouch's 1966 A Man and a Woman, in which a couple's budding romance is interlaced with each lover's recollections of their late spouses. A Man and a Woman made $6 million in the U.S., won two Oscars, and paved the way for Two for the Road (it may not be a coincidence that veteran French editor Madeleine Gug was brought on board to cut the film). Screenwriter Frederic Raphael approached Donen after John Schlesinger had deemed the idea "too difficult"; it's hard to imagine another filmmaker making the material as accessible as Donen does. He tempers the caustic script with beautiful photography and a charmingly melancholy Henry Mancini score. Even as he plays with jump cuts and mid-zoom freeze frames, Donen does his part to normalize the experience. Whereas Resnais' jumbles disorient the viewer, Two for the Road carefully coaxes us into its rhythms--slowly at first, eventually mixing time frames for only seconds at a time. As a map, we're given Audrey Hepburn's varying hairstyles and costumes, and year-specific automobiles. Those cars are temporal clues, but in a movie that never shows the characters' homes, they're also the sets--and part of a trend that escaped Time's notice. In the same year that Jean-Luc Godard's camera spent 10 minutes tracking toward the gruesome source of a French traffic jam in Weekend, several Hollywood films revealed the centrality of the automobile within modern life, as each cinematic set-piece seemed to come assigned with its own memorable make and model: Dustin Hoffman escorting Mrs. Robinson home in an Alfa Romeo Duetto (The Graduate); Lee Marvin's ecstatically destructive test drive of a Chrysler Imperial (Point Blank); and Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway's elongated demise in a Ford 730 V8 Deluxe Sedan (Bonnie and Clyde). Upping the ante, Two for the Road makes the cars subtle thematic signposts. Mark and Joanna start out with the spontaneity of a green MG TD, are held prisoner by another couple's staid Ford station wagon, and cruise luxuriantly but solemnly in a white Mercedes 230. (The red sports car that Mark drives to his extramarital conquest is, of course, a Triumph.) In the end, a vehicle is just a vehicle—except when it's an Audrey Hepburn vehicle. She swears, bares skin and generally loosens up more than we're used to, and if there remains what Henry Mancini called "Audrey's quality of wistfulness--a kind of slight sadness," her persevering Joanna ameliorates the sullenness of Mr. Finney's Mark. The warmth between Hepburn and Mr. Finney keeps the bantering couple from becoming a mere symbol of crabby matrimony. Their repartee is in the DNA of both their arguments and their romance, from flirtatiously antagonistic courtship to tin-anniversary cruelty, blurring that thin line between love and hate. After repeated viewings, the audience shares with them a persistence of memory that bleeds between and informs abutting time frames; as with memory, there is no longer a neat lineage of events. If the older couple keeps intruding on the younger couple--in passing cars, at the cafe window--it's the romance of the younger that sustains the older. The film is not, as it seems at first, a postmortem determining of how things went wrong, but simply a flood of memories every bit as confusing as true, exhausted love.

The face of the Dart was styled with the unmistakable Dodge split crosshair grille, but with a modern, sleek look that "floats" in the front fascia, giving the Dart a full-width mask that marks it as a Dodge. Once the basic design was in place, with dynamic lines and curves from every angle, designers inserted a little Dodge attitude into the mix. "Each car was beautiful, based on its surface work and presence alone they didn't need unnecessary cladding, jewelry or lines that confuse the eye." "When designing the all-new Dodge Dart, we were inspired by classic, beautifully designed vehicles throughout time," Dehner added.
#2013 dodge dart skin
Designers visually stretched the skin of the car over the vehicle framework as if stretching nylon over a surface. The CUS-wide platform allowed for accentuating the fender formations and pushing the wheels as far out to the corners as possible, creating a very stable look, which gave Dodge designers incredible opportunities for some very dramatic sculpturing. Wide (CUS-wide) architecture's low, wide and long dimensions ensured a stable "body-in, wheels-out" stance and coupe-like silhouette. Add in the Charger-inspired 'racetrack' taillamps, a new, sleek crosshair grille and piano black accents, and it all adds up to a performance-inspired design with just the right amount of attitude." "The Alfa Romeo-based architecture allowed us to design an exterior with great proportions that say 'fun-to-drive' when you look at it. "The Dodge Dart was a dream to design," said Joe Dehner, Head of Dodge Design - Chrysler Group LLC. The exterior design of the Dart conveys a level of visual drama and timeless surfaces that add excitement to the competitive compact sedan segment in the United States. The car sports an athletic, sculpted, fluid and aesthetically agile appearance. The all-new 2013 Dodge Dart boasts a timeless, stylish and distinctive exterior design. Production of the 2013 Dodge Dart will begin in the second quarter of 2012. It will be built in the United States at Chrysler Group's Belvidere Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Ill. The 2013 Dodge Dart will be available in five trim levels: SE, SXT, Rallye, Limited and R/T. "With 12 exterior colors, 14 interior color and trim options, three powerful, fuel-efficient engines, three transmission choices, unsurpassed safety features and world-class aerodynamics, the new Dodge Dart sets a new standard for the compact car class." Porsche 356 Zagato Coupe
Technically this Carrera Coupé Z isn’t a continuation at all, it’s actually more like a car that’s just been a very long time coming, if we’re being bookish about it.The hardtop has its share of Porsche DNA—check under the engine cover for the plainest evidence—but to look at it, I would be more likely to compare it to an Alfa Romeo SZ or a Fiat-Abarth Zagato than any 356, even its Speedster Z sibling. With a presence so delicate and lithe, I am almost surprised to see the Porsche crests in place of the scorpions. And yet, this car was the result of an inquiry by Porsche itself—being quite impressed with what the Speedster Z was capable of, the company asked Zagato to look into designing and building a closed racing car, with a weight of less than 700kg (~1543lbs). In the purest Zagato tradition, this is built to be a sports car with no superfluous details, no elaborate decoration nor a luxurious interior, although I have to say those seats are as comfortable as they are gorgeous. There is hardly anything to look at inside or out that doesn’t look good. Handmade aluminum panels, a painted dashboard, and punched out louvers on the engine cover. The more you look, the more you start to discover, like that sublime door shut line that is angled forward, the handles flush to the body; or the way the lower part of the rear window swoops up to match the rear haunches. Each one of these details serves to harmonize the overall design. It’s rife with these little touches, yet from no angle does it look too busy.
