So in TGH, Lothíriel essentially looks like Frodo, but taller and feminized. As such, short of running Elijah Wood through a feminization photo filter (which I am not above doing, but it might be a bit creepy in the grand scheme of things), candidates for fancasting include:
Alexis Bledel
Markella Kavenagh (Elanor Brandyfoot in The Rings of Power. In fact I think she was explicitly chosen for her resemblance to Elijah Wood, so Elanor can recall Frodo in the minds of fans)
Anyone else you can think of?
FWIW I still have my Frodo pictures open for inspiration as I write TGH, because needs must. But really, I just imagine her as her own person in my mind, though I might need a real life face female claim if I make any graphics for the fic.

A Love Letter To Rory Gilmore’s School Style: The Only True-To-Form Uniform On TV
PM6N98 Film Still / Publicity Still from Gilmore Girls Alexis Bledel 2001 Photo credit: Frank Ockenfels File Reference # 30847947THA For Editorial Use Only – All Rights Reserved
When I think back to my private school days in the suburbs of Chicago, it isn’t the assignments or even my teachers that I remember so much as my uniform: a red-and-navy check jumper that was only slightly more exciting than the pieces I was authorised to wear with it. Five days a week, for six long years, I wore the same outfit with either ballet flats or penny loafers — only black or navy — and a polo or Oxford-style shirt. Even my stockings — black, navy, or white knee socks or tights — were not of my choosing.
In sixth grade, I transferred to public school, shedding my uniform in the process and eventually making a career out of dressing for myself.
The only source of solace I had throughout my elementary school years, though, came in the form of Rory Gilmore, a fellow uniform-wearer however fictitious. The youngest Gilmore Girl wore a real school uniform, like I did, as opposed to the bespoke versions spotted on the Blair Waldorfs and Serena van der Woodsens of New York City’s upper crust. In my busted-up ballet flats, I couldn’t relate to the sorts of uniforms worn by the televised student body, which often included colourful statement handbags and tights, as well as designer belts, padded headbands, and layered-on jewellery. Hell, I wasn’t even allowed to wear nail polish (or say hell), let alone insert a pussy-bow blouse in place of my polo.

Rory’s Chilton uniform was slightly different, enough to offer me a sense of hope. By my count, the 2003 valedictorian had a total of eight top options throughout her three illustrious years at the East Coast establishment, including one button-down shirt, two vests — one navy and one grey — three jumpers— a navy and a grey cardigan and a navy pullover — a blazer, and a peacoat. Though six more than I had, the restrictive colour palette and lack of eye-catching accessories was in sync with the constraints of my school ensemble. On the bottom, she always wore the same blue plaid skirt, which, apart from colour, was a near-exact replica of the style I would have worn had I remained at my private school past the fifth grade. (In the sixth grade, our plaid jumpers were replaced with equally plaid skirts.) Though her black-and-white Oxford shoes would have likely led to a citation in my day, they were still a far cry from Serena’s Stuart Weitzman thigh-highs.

Which is not to say that I didn’t enjoy the “uniforms” (can we really refer to them thus?) featured on Gossip Girl. In fact, I loved them. As a longtime fan of both the books and the original TV series, I often daydreamed about wearing a loose tie with an untucked button-down shirt. I thought long and hard about carrying my books in a leather shoulder bag as opposed to a dweeby backpack and accessorising with jewel-tone tights and earrings that weren’t simple gold balls (the only kind we were allowed to wear). Despite being permitted to wear whatever I wanted (within reason — my affinity for short shorts was denied by both my parents and the administration) in high school, I often found myself dressing with Serena and Blair in mind, switching off between the boho and prep valances. I had a lot of missed opportunities to make up for, and wasn’t ready for Rory’s more understated sense of style.
But during those years when I didn’t have a choice in how I dressed, back when I had no choice but to relinquish any style autonomy despite my growing interest in fashion, fantasising about clothes that were off-limits felt like a waste of time. Instead, it was Rory’s finite sartorial options that kept me zipping up my jumper and slipping on my loafers every morning. Her rotating selection of mundane cardigans and blazers furnished me with an odd sense of solace. I wasn’t in this alone.
When I do my annual autumn Gilmore Girls rewatch, I’m comforted, not only by Luke’s flannels and Lorelai’s chaotic yet stylish selection of ‘90s graphic tees and zip-ups, but by Rory’s Chilton uniform, which to this day, remains one of the only true-to-form liveries on TV.
Like what you see? How about some more R29 goodness, right here?

THAT’S HIGHLY OFFENSIVE: THE SAG AWARDS 2018
So much pink! So many sparkles! it was actually pretty hard for me to be offended by this year’s SAG awards, but don’t worry- there were plenty of people who wanted to make it easy on me... Let the skewering begin!
Danielle Brooks- I think if her hair had been left wild and naturally beautiful, this would have been my favorite look of the night. Her dress is amazing! She looks like a badass, villainous ruby slipper! Or the glam version of the villain in Never-ending Story part 2. I love alllllll of it.
Chrissy Metz- i know it’s not gonna be cool for me to say this, but… let’s kill her off This Is Us so she’s free to star in my new Lifetime Fiction Made for TV Movie, “Violet Beauregarde: After the Gum, Before the Juicing.”
Giuliana Rancid- First things first: She looks like the child of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jay Gatsby and the blonde vulture from the cartoon “Jungle Book.” I’m gonna be honest- I’m having a hard time coming up with new or interesting ways to call her an ungodly shade of orange or the Queen of the Antz. Because while she will always remain those things, she’s constantly finding new ways to offend me and the rest of America by being the most obtuse yet anorexic hymenoptera on the red carpet.
Abbie Cornish- Modeling the newest addition to the Elle Fanning & American Girl collaboration with Frederick’s of Hollywood.
Allison Williams: Some college sophomore who became anorexic in preparation for her Chicago audition.
Sterling K. Brown’s wife (who they keep trying to pretend/cram down our throats is an actress): You’re at the Spelling Bee and your word is DOILY.
Alison Brie: While I’m not obsessed with it, I love how her dress coordinates with her show. It’s fun, it’s eighties, it’s GLOWing.
Niecey Nash- No one cares, except me, but you stole my costume from when I played the Charo originated role of Frog Momma in “The Swan Princess.”
Halle Berry: I kind of love everything about this. It’s pink and berry and sparkly and has black tulle, so LOVE. But i cannot and will not with that My Little Pony Tail. You’re better than that, Halle. Shave that shit off like you did after David Justice!
Laurie Metcalf: If Angelina Jolie had worn this, my head would have exploded. You’re borderline just as devastating bc i LOVE YOU. Well played, sir.
Mary j Blige is clearly on her way to a ballet themed MET Gala dressed in Kmart’s Black Swan collection…
Only Taryn Manning would put a white, ankle strapped, Elizabeth Berkley in Showgirls heel with an elegant, black, Audrey Hepburn-esque dress. Because ALL HER CHARACTERS.
Reese Witherspoon looks like a beautiful emerald earring. But when did she get that gap in her teeth?? @jenniferhintonmarion
Saiorse Ronan- If not for the bolo tie wrapped around your waist, i’d say you are a delightful version of Audrey’s character in Funny Face guest starring in a Moondreamers Valentine’s Day special.
Tracee Ellis Ross- At first I thought this was pants. I wasn’t going to like it then and I’m sad to say I shan’t be liking it any more upon realizing it’s a dress. It does nothing for her body and those shoes resemble something Angela Sephton purchased from Gadzooks circa 2004. Maybe if you get your pay raise, you can afford more attractive clothing.
Kate Hudson- The first time i saw this mess, i said to my friend @loganyost “It’s like Samantha the Victorian American Girl doll raped a care bear.” And I stand by that. #whattheactalfuck
Lupita Nyongo- On TV, that dress is PERFECTION. In photos though, it kind of resembles a silver tooth that’s gathered some Oreo around the gum line…
i didn’t think anyone could be as boring as Alexis Bledel at the Golden Globes (or in any role she’s ever played)… Olivia Munn has proven me wrong. #snooze
Brie Larson matched her eyeshadow to her dress. I love all the colors, but I do not love all the things.
Greta Gerwig: i freaking love everything about this. The color (which is giving me major Nicole Kidman in Dior circa 1997 vibes), the shape, the way she looks in the shape, the makeup that works with it all… LOVE.
Why is Molly Sims at the SAG awards? And why is she dressed as a saloon stripper named Cerulean Sarsaparilla???
Nicole Kidman- This is what you look like with the flu?!?!?!?!? i die. This looks like a chic, ruby-encrusted trash bag with a SJP shoulder flower and i love all of it.
Allison Janney came dressed as a SAG statue tonight, manifesting a win. And it worked. And I couldn’t be happier. Her performance in “I, Tonya” made started my year off RIGHT.
Susan Sarandon’s dress is what i want to own in every single color and fabric and have it be the only thing i ever wear to awards shows. And the sunglasses? Does she think she’s actually Bette Davis? I’m fine with it.
Did all the females in the ‘This Is Us’ cast decide to dress in the same shade of blueberry for a reason? Did they think this was the blue version of all black everyone pulled at the Golden Globes? That being said, I definitely think Mandy Moore takes the prize for Best Use of Cobalt, 2018.
Aside from the cheap looking hem on Margot Robbie’s dress, this may be my favorite look of the night. She looks like an Ice Capades Barbie at the black tie gala on the eve of her big skate and i love allll of it.
Dakota fanning ALSO looks like a Barbie, but the #myfirstbarbie version.
Marisa Tomei- Perfection, as always. The ultimate modern bombshell. Pink. Glitter. Yes.
Kristen Bell: Great job as the hostess of the evening. HOWEVER, on the red carpet, she just reminded me to pick up medication for my next UTI.
Holly Hunter: Why am I so obsessed with this? Is it because you are one of my favorite actresses of all time AND you happen to play a fellow ECU alum in your last amazing film, The Big Sick? Is it because there are pockets? I guess we’ll never know.
Connie Britton: Although I cannot forgive your latest role as a 911 operator (even if it is in a Ryan Murphy show), I am obviously obsessed with your pink, sparkly dress! It doesn’t fit even remotely like a dream, but i repeat: PINK AND SPARKLY. If your hair was blonde, the dress actually fit and you had red star earrings with a holographic fairy godmother on the other end, you’d be Jem.
Mary Steenburgen’s dress? Great. The color, the fit, it’s all working. I cannot, however, condone that HAIR! It’s like the brunette Deborah Rush spontaneously cut bangs so she could replace Jeri Blank in the Flatpoint High production of Chicago.
Omg Laura Linney- You look like some sort of beautiful pink bird in a cage in Barbie’s dream house. C’est magnifique.
ALRIGHT Y’ALL... I’D WRITE MORE, BUT FRANKLY, I’VE BEEN DRINKING WINE ALL DAMN DAY AND IT’S TIME TO GO THE PINK SATIN TO BED. LOVE YOU AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING!

ATX Television Festival Founders on the Lessons They've Learned
In most parts of the world, you don’t have to look very far to find a film festival. But a television festival? That’s a rarer genre. At least, it was before the ATX Television Festival flickered to life in Austin in 2012. The brainchild of TV lovers Emily Gipson and Caitlin McFarland, this four-day celebration of all things televised has quickly grown from its humble freshman year origins to become a major destination for people who might otherwise be loathe to leave the company of their DVR.
Staging reunions for such beloved shows as Friday Night Lights and Gilmore Girls has vaulted ATX into the pop-culture consciousness in a big way, and has shown other festivals the power and popularity of including television in the program. Sundance, Toronto, and Tribeca are just some of the film festivals who have made room for TV premieres in recent years, and in May, the storied Cannes Film Festival screened episodes of Twin Peaks and Top of the Lake: China Girl to great acclaim. We spoke with ATX’s founders about being the Peak TV Festival in the era of Peak TV, and what they’re most excited to present at the sixth edition of the festival, which runs from June 8-11 in Austin.
ATX Television Founders Emily Gipson and Caitlin McFarland (Photo: ATX)
Before this interview, I stumbled upon the Kickstarter campaign you organized to help launch the first-ever ATX Festival in 2012. It’s an amazing contrast between where you were then and where you are now.
Emily Gipson: Every once in a while I come across that page, too. We had one year with that original logo, and then every other year since has been our current logo. I think of all the people who helped us make that Kickstarter video, some of whom we’ve never met. At the time, nobody knew what they were going to or promoting. It’s kind of amazing.
2012 was just before the Peak TV era. Did you have a sense of where the industry was going, or did you launch the festival purely out of passion for the medium?
Caitlin McFarland: It was a mixture of things. We’ve talked about how part of the reason for creating a TV festival was us wanting to go to one or wanting to go work for one, and not finding it. Emily and I originally became friends when we were out in L.A. working as assistants at Fox. We loved to talk about movies and pop culture, and we just found ourselves talking about television more than film. Even five years ago, we were so much more excited about the things that were on our DVR rather than what was playing in movie theaters.
Then I was unemployed, and went to look for work at a television festival specifically and was really shocked that they didn’t exist when there were thousands of film and music festivals. How could there not be the same community and event environment for television? That was when Emily said, “Write it down. What does it look like? What do you want to go to?” Together we created this thing, and took baby steps towards the Kickstarter page. We launched it in January 2012, the campaign ended in February, and then we had the festival in June! So whenever I feel like I’m behind nowadays, I remember that we practically planned the whole thing in three months the first time and I feel better about life. [Laughs]
Did you both originally go to L.A. with the intention of being part of the industry?
Gipson: We definitely moved out there wanting to create, whether it be film or television. That was our passion when we went to school, knowing that we loved storytelling and really wanted to be part of that process. At the time we moved to L.A. — this was 2004 or 2005 — film was what you went there for. People weren’t really going there to start TV careers. Funny how things change so quickly!
McFarland: Emily and I were on either side of the Fox lot, and oftentimes we’d walk by the sets for Bones, How I Met Your Mother, House, and Arrested Development. There were a lot of Buffy cast members around, too, which is Emily’s favorite show.
Gipson: It would be like, “David Boreanaz is blowing something up on the lot — come on down!” [Laughs] I decided what my role in the creative process was going to be through the process of elimination. I knew I didn’t want to be an actor, I slowly figured out that I liked to write, but probably shouldn’t be a writer. So it landed closer to producer, for me. And producing the festival is kind of like producing a season of television.
McFarland: It really is. We both still have this huge passion for story, and have a production arm that we’ve been in the process of launching for the past year. We have a “Pitch Competition” at the festival and we’re attached as producers for the winner that’s announced every year. So we still have this huge love for [telling stories]. Five years ago, we never dreamed we’d be sitting here about to plan Season 6 of the festival. I don’t think that we even knew how much we were going to love doing this, and love bringing these people out to talk about TV and experience TV together. We’re television fans to our core, but we’re also part of the industry.

Do you point to one particular edition as a turning point?
Gipson: When we did a Friday Night Lights panel [in 2013] and surprised the audience with Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler, I felt us being Tweeted for the first time. You just feel the energy in the room. After that, I would say the Gilmore Girls reunion in 2015. That was something we had been working on for over a year, and the timing lined up with [the original run] being released on Netflix. The build-up and intensity leading into it, you could already feel it was different. We doubled in size that year, and launched to a new level in terms of awareness. And each year’s programming is bringing us a new audience. We’ll get people [this year] who are coming for a Battlestar Galactica reunion or the premiere of Glow and the hope is they’re going to be exposed to something else they didn’t come for and understand that good TV is good TV, and there’s a lot of it to be discovered.
McFarland: One big lesson we learned from the Gilmore Girls reunion is because we knew that people were obviously coming for that show, we couldn’t lose Amy Sherman-Palladino, Lauren Graham, or Alexis Bledel. If we lost one of them, there could have been riots!
Gipson: There was so much pressure on us [that year] that we took the mantra of creating a festival that’s so well-balanced that if any one person drops out, the festival can still stand and be strong. We’re always super sad when someone can’t come, and there were a couple of reunions that had to go away this year. That’s sad, and we’re sad to tell our audience, but at the same time, we feel we’ve got such a great balance that it’s still a strong festival. We keep telling people over and over and over again, “Don’t come for one thing. Come because you love TV.”

The older shows programmed at the festival tend to be rooted in the ’90s and ’00s era — Alias, Battlestar Galactica, and Northern Exposure are all represented this year. There’s also a tribute to Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, who created such ’80s favorites as Designing Women. Are you interested in programming more series from earlier decades?
Gipson: It’s harder to do reunions of much older shows. In our third year, we added our Achievement in Television Excellence Award, which we’ve given to Henry Winkler, James L. Brooks, and Norman Lear. This year, we’re not presenting an award during the festival, but we’re looking to do an event in L.A. in a couple of months. We also hope to start having current creators, producers, and writers talk about the television that inspired them. We’re always looking for ways to get past the ’80s, basically. If we could do an I Love Lucy reunion, we would!
McFarland: Our audience is a little more female, and the age range is 17 to 70. My mom keeps throwing out these shows she watched in the ’60s that were on for 24 episodes and then went away. I say, “I don’t know that we can do that, but we can always use your help.”
In terms of your own TV influences, what are some of your formative shows?
McFarland: My parents were pop-culture junkies, so I really did grow up on I Love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show. Those shows are still my happy places, and I laugh at all of them. In the ’90s we were WB viewers, so Buffy, Dawson’s Creek, and definitely Felicity. I watched Lois & Clark with my mom, and in college, my mom was mailing me VHS tapes of Gilmore Girls and Friends. With the exception of those shows, I have a black hole of TV viewing during my college years.
Gipson: It’s funny, because my parents were not pop-culture junkies at all. I grew up on old movies, but I didn’t really grow up on a lot of TV shows. The first shows I really remember are Saved by the Bell and Home Improvement — that was the one show my family all watched together. Buffy was the first show that I discovered that was mine. And Buffy was a year older than me in the show, so I grew up in my teen years with her.
So your personal TV tastes are already very diverse and wide-ranging. Early on in the life of ATX, did you have to make a conscious choice whether to prioritize genre shows, which often come with a devoted fanbase, or series that you weren’t necessarily as sure people would turn up for?
Gipson: It’s funny because when Buffy was on, I didn’t even know that it was a genre show. To me it was a high school show that happened to have vampires. It’s been a lesson learning that there are these shows that have these really cult fanbases. But the thing that we realized the first year of the festival was that Firefly fans were just as devoted as Parenthood fans. Those two screenings were up against each other that first year of the festival, and people were super-excited and crying in both of them. So I think that’s what we realized coming out of that first festival; there are these other shows that people love so much and they don’t have a place to go. I think all of the excitement around Gilmore Girls was that was never a show that was going to have a convention or that kind of fan gathering, because people who want to celebrate non-genre shows don’t have the place to do it. Genre shows have a place, and we’d be in heavier competition with Comic-Con or their show-specific conventions.
McFarland: To add on to that, I would say that we do not consider ourselves a convention. So even when we do genre shows, we’re trying to do it differently than others. We are shifting into trying to figure out the best ways to honor them in ways that don’t compete with Comic-Con, which happens the month after us.

Speaking of competition, I’m sure it’s not lost on you that film festivals like Sundance and Cannes have started to screen TV shows. Do you credit yourselves with spurring that on a little bit?
Gipson: They would have gotten there on their own, but I think it’s great. We spent a few years convincing people that television would work in a festival format, and that people would want to watch TV on a big screen together. There’s room for many more television-specific festivals as well as television in traditional film festivals, it’s just about figuring out how they’re going to showcase them. I know that South by Southwest has a pretty hard rule that the TV shows they showcase are mostly first episodes of first seasons. They may do conversations about other shows, but in terms of their screenings, they mainly show first episodes of brand new series.
The Split Screens Festival hosted its inaugural edition in New York earlier this month. Did they reach out to you for advice in organizing a television-specific festival?
McFarland: They did not reach out, but we did hear about it. I think that it’s really interesting. New York is going to be a different audience and, I think, a different showcase. That’s part of it, too, when you’re creating an event: what kind of community are you creating? We talk a lot about how our festival feels like TV camp for grown-ups. It’s a destination, and our goal is to create a physical community of TV. If you meet somebody on the street [at the festival] and you love the same show, you feel like you’ve found your people. So for Split Screen, I am really interested to see how it goes, how many people go, and the flavor and tone going forward. We joke all the time that we actually didn’t know what we were starting. It almost seemed to define itself.
For this year’s program, is there one panel or series that you’re particularly excited to present to people?
Gipson: There’s a couple. I’m excited about a panel called “Complex, Not Complicated,” which is about strong female characters and the people who create them. Kyra Sedgwick and Mary McDonnell, who I’m big fans of, are on that, along with Casual‘s Liz Tigelaar, and Tayor Dearden and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson who did Sweet/Vicious. We sometimes have to go searching for panelists, but that group came together very organically, because they all wanted to talk about this topic, and I think it’s a nice balance between actors and creators. We also created a “Directors & Showrunners” panel, where pairs of directors and showrunners talk about how they work together. If TV is a writers’ medium, but you have recurring directors, how does that work for the vision of a show?
In terms of the show panels, I’m really excited about The Leftovers, because it’s happening four days after the finale aired, and I think that all I want to do is sit in that panel and ask questions. We love that show so much here in the office. We’re also doing a script reading of the Suits pilot with the entire Suits cast to celebrate their 100th episode. Suits was our first-ever Opening Night screening in 2012, so it’s really cool for a number of reasons.
McFarland: The fact that they took that chance on us in our first year, and now the script reading is the second-to-last piece of programming six seasons into the festival is really nice for us. It kind of says, “Look where we’ve come.”
The ATX Television Festival runs from June 8-11 in Austin, TX.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 Finale Screening! Or How Elisabeth Moss Is Simply Amazing To Fans! Autographs and More!
The Handmaid’s Tale is one of my favorite shows of all time. It’s so well done, and the series just celebrated it’s third season finale.
The series had a special finale event in Westwood and the cast was there for a q and a and red carpet.
Now, I wasn’t on time, so I missed who I really need, Anne Dowd. I hear she did come over to sign, but I didn’t get her. Doh.
But, Elisabeth Moss didn’t sign…

The 54 Best Looks From the 2020 SAG Awards Red Carpet
The 2020 SAG Awards have kicked off in Los Angeles this evening, but not before a noteworthy parade of designer ensembles made their way down the red carpet.
Given the nominees list for this year – which looks remarkably similar to those of the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards – familiar faces including Scarlett Johansson (in Armani), Cynthia Erivo (in Schiaparelli), Charlize Theron (in Givenchy) and Laura Dern (in Stella McCartney) walked the red carpet before making their way inside.
Canada’s favourite TV show stars, Eugene Levy, Sarah Levy, Dan Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Emily Hampshire, Jennifer Robertson, Noah Reid, Dustin Milligan and Annie Murphy posed together on the carpet much to our communal delight. The show is nominated in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series category for the first time, going up against Barry, Fleabag, The Kominsky Method and The Marveous Mrs. Maisel, whilst Moira Rose herself is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.

LOS ANGELES | The Latest: Hader reflects on Emmy noms before 'It 2' shoot
LOS ANGELES — The Latest on the nominations for the 70th annual Emmy Awards, which are being announced Thursday by in Los Angeles (all times local): 10:20 a.m.
Bill Hader says he was excited but exhausted when he heard the news Thursday morning that he was nominated for best lead actor in a comedy series for HBO’s “Barry.”
It wasn’t the only Emmys love for Hader, who on Thursday also received nominations for his writing and directing on the series, and for returning as guest host on his old show “Saturday Night Live.”
Hader is in Toronto shooting “It 2” and says there’s no time to pop open champagne or party with his colleagues. He spoke to The Associated Press while eating breakfast before getting picked up for an all-night shoot on the horror sequel.
He says the nominations for “Barry” feel especially good, since it’s the show’s first season and that he’s pleased for co-star Henry Winkler, who received a supporting actor nomination. ___ 9:45 a.m.
Sandra Oh has made Emmys history by becoming the first nominee of Asian descent in the leading actress in a drama series.
Oh was nominated Thursday for her role in the BBC America series “Killing Eve” as a spy hunting a female assassin.
The 46-year-old Canadian-born actress has five previous drama supporting actress nominations for “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Legend and Bareilles each earned acting nods for their roles in NBC’s “Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert.” Mars earned a nomination for outstanding music direction for his first TV special, CBS’ “Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo.”
Legend, who has won several Grammys as well as an Oscar and a Tony, could become an EGOT if he takes home outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie.
The term EGOT refers to someone who has won one of all the major awards: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.

The Emmys ceremony airs Sept. 17 on NBC with Colin Jost and Michael Che of “Saturday Night Live” as hosts. ___ 9 a.m.
HBO’s “Game of Thrones” has received the most nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards, but the haul could not stop Netflix from becoming the most-nominated network atthis year.
Netflix is the network received 112 nominations this year, up from 91 last year. Its nominations were spread around numerous shows, including “Stranger Things,” ”The Crown,” ”GLOW” and “Godless.”
“Game of Thrones” received several supporting acting nominations, including for Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Peter Dinklage. ___ 8:45 a.m.
“Game of Thrones” roared back onto the Emmy battlefield, topping Thursday’s nominations with 22 bids.
HBO’s fantasy saga is a two-time best drama winner that sat out the last year’s awards.
It’s returning to face formidable competition: “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the dystopian sci-fi series that claimed top drama honors last year, drew 20 bids, with “Westworld” close by with 21.
Donald Glover’s “Atlanta” is the top comedy with 16 bids. It will face newcomers including “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Barry,” starring Bill Hader.
The revival of “Roseanne,” canceled because of star Roseanne Barr’s racist tweet, drew only one major nomination, a supporting actress nod for Laurie Metcalf.
“Saturday Night Live,” riding high with its relentless pillorying of the Trump administration, was rewarded with 21 nods.
The previous high for “Game of Thrones” was 24 nominations in 2015. It got 23 nods in 2016 but wasn’t eligible last year.
The Emmys ceremony airs Sept. 17 on NBC with Colin Jost and Michael Che of “Saturday Night Live” as hosts. ___ 8:40 a.m. The Emmy nominations for the top television drama and comedy series have been announced.

The final preparations are being made for the 2018 Emmy nominations.
Actors Samira Wiley of “The Handmaid’s Tale” and Ryan Eggold, who starred in “The Blacklist,” will read this year’s nominees beginning at 8:25 a.m. PDT. About an hour before the nominations, Wiley, wearing a burgundy dress and gold heels, stepped out into the lobby of the television academy and snapped photos in front of a giant screen promoting the 70th annual Emmys.
Dozens of journalists have cameras set up to record the announcement, which will be made on a giant stage decked out with four giant Emmy statuettes.
Wiley is a possible nominee for “Handmaid’s Tale,” which won best drama series last year.
The Emmy Awards will be presented Sept. 17 on NBC with Colin Jost and Michael Che of “Saturday Night Live” as hosts. ___ 3 a.m.
Blockbuster movies typically are snubbed by the Oscars, leaving fans grumbling, but TV’s top prize takes a different approach.
When the 70th Emmy Awards nominees are announced Thursday morning, popular series including HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” NBC’s “This Is Us” and CBS’ “Mom” are likely to be in the running.
“Game of Thrones” is a two-time best drama series winner. It’s back in the running for honors for its next-to-last season after a production delay kept it out of the 2017 competition.
Its biggest adversary is “The Handmaid’s Tale,” the dystopian drama that captured last year’s top series prize and acting awards for Elisabeth Moss, Ann Dowd and Alexis Bledel among its eight wins.
The Emmy Awards ceremony airs Sept. 17 on NBC.

America Ferrera Welcomes Baby Boy With Husband Ryan Piers Williams
The sisterhood has a new member: America Ferrera’s baby boy.
The actress and activist welcomed her first child, with husband Ryan Piers Williams, named Sebastian Piers Williams, who will go by Baz. The couple announced the birth on Tuesday with a photo of the newborn’s tiny foot.
“When 2 become 3…Welcome Sebastian Piers Williams – aka Baz! Mom, Dad, and Baby are happy, healthy and totally in love! 😍😍😍,” Ferrera wrote in the caption.
Friends and fellow famous types like Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner and Busy Philipps chimed in with warm wishes for the growing family.
“This is so beautiful,” “Jane the Virgin” star Gina Rodriguez wrote in a comment to the post. “Congrats super woman!!!!! Congrats mama and papa.”
Ferrera and Williams, who have been married since 2011, announced on New Year’s Eve that they were expecting their first child, posing with a photo of an adorable onesie.
With Baz’s birth, all four of the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” lead actresses — Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively and Amber Tamblyn — are now mothers. They recently reunited, and Ferrera posted a photo of all of them placing a hand on her stomach.
The “Ugly Betty” alum wrote about the “work to do for the next generation” in the caption.
In February, Bledel confirmed that a new film in the franchise was in the works after years of fans begging for more stories of the fabled friends.
Ferrara says she has leaned on the cast throughout her pregnancy, asking them a “million questions all the time.”
“Everything from trying to wrap my mind around the actual birth itself and talking about what their experiences were and what to prepare for,” she told Us Weekly. “I’m lucky that I have so many amazing women around me who have had children and are in very similar positions as me — are working and have to get back to work. Having their support has been everything.”
