#alexnino #ninoscapes More Alex Nino comics - I’m lowkey obsessed. Today I’m posting pics from a Conan story Nino illustrated. Was never into Conan - it always seemed you’d have to have a certain level of testosterone poisoning to groove with the Hyperborean Age - and this story is no exception. It’s laughably misogynist (the hero is a guy who’s intending to murder a romantic rival, and the attitude of the story seems to be this is just Something Guys Do, and it’s a given that the woman has no say in the matter). It starts in the modern world, and then the protagonist is hurled back into his past life as Conan - in a time when Men Were Men and Pecs Were Pecs. So yeah, pretty pathological stuff. But the drawings! The layouts! The art is so gorgeous - and welcome to that split-brain issue that enthusiasts of American comics are saddled with - admiring the mastery of the art, which is tied to scripts that are often moronic or worse. https://www.instagram.com/p/CMU35FzBuyv/?igshid=1hn0ekzbqr3za

...influence change the way you believe. its an artwork i have way back on 2005, and after seeing works of master alex niño it change the way i believe in art. i always thought that once you mimic or study someones work it will change the way you draw but it leads me in different way of discovering new stuff in that time, i feel like it makes my portfolio stronger but a lot of people said my anatomy is bad but it never stops me, the influence of legendary alex niño makes me realized that i can make my work leap from different style, i can go to a world of art that i never been thru and it keeps me fighting from that day since and im so happy i did. it has some bad and ugliness but when i asked AN he said ' ugliness is beautiful in a different way' and everything i do i always feel something positive behind these lines. i never stop. this is a throwback artwork to end saturday drawing. #illustrations #throwback #artwork #drawing #harveytolibao #hmtstudios #mechanicalpencil #clutchpencil #alexnino #influence #inspired (at HMT Studios)

Visiting the one and only Alex Niño at his booth in Wondercon. Had to pay respects (and buy his latest art book of course) to one of my childhood heroes. So excited when I joined Mulan and learned that he did incredible visual development for it. All his works from the past to the most recent ones, never cease to amaze and inspire me. The strength of his ideas, design and execution remain solid all these years.
