Albus’ cool sword of a cool metal (possibly for Eldritchicians as well?) and messing with newbies
I’ve had a really cool idea...I think? So I’ve thought it be neat if each Eldritchician from Quincey to Medusa to C. Williams and so on had some kind of blade or blades weapon made from Adamant. No matter if they use it a lot (like Quincey) or hardly ever (like Medusa and C. Williams). Thought about them being uniform..but then realized it made more sense for them to have whatever suited them best. Quincey has a Bowie knife of the stuff, while Medusa has a Harpe (possibly the one that would have been used against? But maybe not?). The Eldritchicians usually train in house (older ones training newer ones), but more often then not Eldritchicians get sent to Train with Albus V Eldritch (either Vigo or Valdrin)(the sexy Eldritch one...who dressed either like a Pirate captain (in black to contrast the rest of him of course) or the sort of Mariner you’d expect to manage a Lighthouse) The thought struck me...on the one hand, Albus could train people in just using Rapiers (his favorite tied with Cutlasses because pirates)...but what if, to train anyone with there preferred weapon of choice in stead of just cluttering his Places with weapons (which he still does anyway) he has one weapon that turns into any weapon...swords mainly...but also Spears, Axes, etc. No fire arms though....except maybe Flintlock stuff (wood and metal). Any thing made of Wood and metal. Now the wood is probably just enchanted or whatever...but I’m quite proud of the metal idea. First, I should note Albus’ weapon has a name. Originally I thought to name it Alpheas because it apparently means changing...but it seemed best not to get mixed up...and I think I already used Alpheas for another Al (I think he’s an Actor or something). So instead I just looked up a bunch of Shape shifters to see which sounded coolest for a sword. And I think I found one that is a perfect fit! The name being Proteus. Proteus apparently being the name of a sea God in Greek Mythology also known as ‘the Old Man of the Sea’ and I thought...that’s perfect! Not only is it a shape shifter but Old Man of the Sea fits Albus perfectly (even though the only indicator of him being old his certain looks he has and his white hair). So yeah...Weapon is called Proteus...and..is made of a mix of Adamant and Orichalcum (Atlantis Copper stuff that can do whatever you want). I’m just stuck on what to call it and the color. For the name I’m thinking Eldritch Proteuium(if that’s how you make things metals) or Protean something or other. Leaning toward Eldritch Proteuium because it sounds cooler and notes it is made by Albus. As for the color...I’m thinking a deep blue that is just shy of being black which if observed for long will call to mind to terror and mystery of the unknown depths of the sea which is an open book to Albus. When catching the light just right one can glimpse the shine of the Adamant and Orichalcum. As for messing with Newbies...I imagine when new Eldritchicians get sent to Albus they’re not told to train with Albus but to fight against Proteus. A sword fight up to the top of the light house later (littered with weapons for the Eldritchician to choose from), with the ghostly residents cheering Albus on...and proper introductions are made. Or something like that. I might write a thing...but I can’t write action to save my life...and there are still other bits to get to. One question remaining is if the Eldritchicians weapons should also be Eldritch Proteanium or just awesome Adamant. Oh and one more thing...there’s a secret ingredient to make the Eldritch Proteuium But yeah Albus has a kick ass sword weapon thing named Proteus. Proteus might also become a Cane...because of course. Topped with either a Lighthouse or the merman like figure of Proteus. Make of this what you will. Al, the Chronographing Cottager and Prince of Naming (even if I’m having difficulty with a made up metal).
#Albus V. Eldritch#Proteus (weapon)#FoE#Fellowship of Eldritchicians#Fictional metals#original name? If not an original idea#make of this what you will#feed back on said nonsense?

Always Hungry
by melora98
Genre angsty, wartime, love, sacrifice, character death, no happy ending.
Blurb Harry is caught in a Death Eater pit trap during the war. He is dying alone and nobody knows he is in the trap. Except Severus who jumps into the trap with him. Only Death Eaters can find a way out of the trap. Severus gives Harry his full magic good and bad including the Dark Mark. Only one of them get to escape.
The intensity of Harry's hunger in the fic will leave you feeling creeped out and horrified. This is war, make no mistake. The narration is through Harry. His disorientation is chilling.
Rec note This fic gives off the vibe of Darren Aronofsky movies. Intense, suffocating and scary.
But there was no water, other than the condensation on the wall, and no food. No one came to check on him with a prisoner's rations – no dirty cups or mouldy crusts of bread. He had scrabbled about on the floor, in the corners, searching for signs of rats or bugs which he was sure now he might be able to stomach out of desperation. If Sirius could survive that way, so can I. If only I still had my wand.

Brown Sugar
by eldritcher
Genre Seriously dark, wartime, mental illness, imprisonment, torture, PTSD, happy ending.
Blurb A wartime and psychological trauma recovery fic. The Voldemort characterization for me.
An insane Voldemort finds out that the Malfoys managed to make a boy out of the Diary. He starts getting attached to this boy. He is taken captive by the Order when Severus betrays him. His sanity breaks down even more. Severus is the only jailer with kindness for him. The war goes on until Tom saves him and takes him to Montserrat where he recovers slowly. I really love the recovery part of the fic. It's done beautifully.
Brown Sugar is the first-person fic for me. The writing is devastating. The psychological characterizations for Voldemort, Albus and Harry are brilliant. Severus, his divided loyalties, how his hatred and love are sides of the same coin! The fic goes to really dark places of the human psyche.
"Give him his wand," Dumbledore ordered. Severus frowned, but he threw my wand at my feet.
"Pick it up," Dumbledore said quietly. "Let us duel."
I had done that to Harry Potter in the graveyard.
The incisiveness in plot and characterization in this fic is something I haven't encountered in my reading before. It doesn't hold back. It is intense, brutal, disturbing, unforgettable and exactly what it needs to be. A brilliant and chilling masterpiece.
The fic has a happy ending. Really healing conclusion which fits the story.
The narration is by Voldemort, with a first-person POV, an eerie choice. When he's crushed we are crushed with him. When he's healing we're healing with him. The first-person POV works brilliantly for this fic.
Rec note - I don't like Voldemort as a MC in slashfics. I don't find him that interesting in canon. But I am completely head over heels for this author's take on him and this fic! The fic I rec whenever anyone wants to know what the first-person POV can do! If you've seen Pedro Almodovar's movies like Pain and Glory it's that kind of feel - beautiful, disturbing and traumatic with a healing conclusion. With that said, this is an intense fic covering a lot of complicated topics.

Contrapasso
by rexluscus
Genre Imprisonment, Mental Illness, Prisoner Abuse, Happy ending
This fic is unsettling and unpredictable. The Ministry keeps the prisoners in a dollhouse. Yes, they are made into tiny doll sized prisoners! There's a cat to catch them if they try to escape. The cat's called Attila.
Harry applies to be a prison warden. He wants revenge because his friends were killed in the war. Severus is a prisoner. We see where there is going. It's definitely not easy to read.
The second part of the fic is about Harry making amends. Snape is freed. They start a real relationship. This real relationship part I didn't connect with but it's a fic so it works with some suspension of belief.
What's not to love about this fic? The plot is amazing! The concept of the dollhouse prison. The brilliant writing in the conversations between Harry and Severus. Severus's characterization! He is a prisoner but he's definitely Snape. Harry's mental health. This fic covers a lot of ground without a lot of words.
Harry looked, and looked. Prepared for it though he had been, the sight still shocked him—a living, breathing human being, shrunk to the size of a toy.

Dangling Conversation
by loupgarou1750
Genre Angst! Brilliant angst! Mental illness. Character Death. No happy ending.
Blurb This fic has an incredible characterization of Severus but it doesn't stop there. A lot of Snape-centric fics focus on Severus's character development. This fic does a powerful Harry characterization which really drives the plot. He's got one task - kill Albus Dumbledore's murderer.
Harry goes to Spinner's End after the war to kill Severus. Severus is trying to die. He selected a really disturbing method. A spell that removes his magic. He is dying when Harry arrives. Harry saves him. That's good, right? It's a chilling and tense plot. Severus is suicidal. He's also attracted to Harry. They fight over a stuffed toy which both of them are disturbingly possessive about. Harry's mental health isn't good. It's a masterful tragedy that grips you and breaks you. No holding back here.
'You're just mad because I saved your life again.'
'I'm mad because I'm still alive. You, on the other hand, are simply mad. Why didn't you let me die?'
'Because knowing I'm going to kill you is the only thing that keeps me going.'

Exorcism
by Cluegirl
Genre Horror, Hurt/Comfort, Hopeful open ending
Blurb When they return from the DoM the brains from the tank are affecting Ron. He is weird and creepy. Everybody's scared of him. Except Harry. Harry goes in charging to save his friend. His idea of saving Ron is smutty and maybe not the best. It's Harry after all. But what really shows powerfully in this fic is how much guilt Harry has for taking them to DoM. What being Ron's friend and saving Ron means to him.
This fic has a great take on some of the canon questions I have around DoM around sideffects from Ron's brain attack. The smut doesn't feel smutty. It feels like friendship, if that's the right way to describe it? Harry's and Ron's relationship is way more than friends with benefits. Harry loves his friends. He carries a ton of guilt about what they went through. There's nothing he won't do for them. The characterization is on point.

Fifty Shades of Truth
by starcrossedgirl
Genre Dark, manipulation, no happy ending
Blurb Is Severus Snape really a noble Byronic hero? In this fic, he is a master manipulator. With total Gone Girl movie vibes, he manipulates Harry to depend completely on him, gets him to cut off his friendships with Ron and Hermione. Ron and Hermione don't give up on Harry. They keep trying to save him from Snape. They don't succeed in their goal. A disturbing fic because it hits too close to real life stories.
Harry could track him just as easily, but Severus knows he would not think of it, presents no real risk. After all, Harry was bred for this: born into chaos, raised in neglect and abuse, carefully moulded into the perfect pawn by Dumbledore. He was ripe for the taking, by the time Severus got to him.

Goat Song
by Delphi
Genre Angst, hurt/comfort, happy ending
Blurb Goat Song opens with setting stage in the village of Hogsmeade. So the people of Hogsmeade passed the time. They trod the boards and sang the chorus, and they waited for the hero to make his grand entrance. Because the Death Eaters are in control. Severus Snape has just killed Albus Dumbledore. He's now the Headmaster. He's visiting Aberforth. The reader discovers that they have a relationship. It's got some of the best descriptions of Severus Snape in fanfic I have seen.
his gargoyle of a lad, all pale pitted stone and sharp angles._
Severus Snape was a novel show, a queer lad with an odd manner about him that disturbed most who met him, Albus included, and so gave Aberforth a good chuckle.
It's about goats. It's about absinthe. It's about first times. It's also about sacrifice. How does Aberforth save Severus after Nagini's attack?
Excerpts and explaining don't really do this fic justice so I am going to stop doing that. This author has a talent for writing poetry in prose. The characterizations, the pacing, the plot development - it's just incredible to read. It's as much about Aberforth's relationship with Severus as it's about both of their relationship with Albus Dumbledore. A delicate and beautiful intense fic .

Help Wanted: God and Executioner
by pir8fancier
Genre - Wartime angst with a happy ending
Blurb - What if the war hadn't ended in the seventh year? In this fic, the war is going on after Albus Dumbledore's death. It doesn't factor in Hallows. What we get instead is an army of child soldiers trying to end Voldemort. Severus is their informant from the enemy camp. Harry and Severus start meeting in Hagrid's shack in the sea to exchange information and make plans. It gets really brutal. The war is dragging on for years. People are dying. For strategists like Harry and Severus they are left to play the role of both God and Executioner.
A deep and intense fic which doesn't hold back on showing the horrible consequences of fighting this war. They both have a lot of coping mechanisms... The characterization of Severus here is incredibly nuanced - he does what needs to be doing and still tries to stay human.
Sometimes it is the smallest things that allow us to retain our humanity in times like these.
Harry! This Harry is so tired of the war left on his shoulders after Dumbledore's death. He's got Ron and Hermione. But he is really struggling with the kind of decisions and strategies he is forced to make.
In his more bitter moments, he wondered if they could just stop all this fighting and uncertainty and lay it out in the open. War as poker. I bet you a Neville Longbottom. I'll see that bet and raise you a Draco Malfoy. I'll see your Draco Malfoy and raise you a Ron Weasley. Call.
The fic has a happy ending for Harry and Severus!

In Between Days
by atrata
Genre Angst, Dubcon, Dubious morality, Depression, Hopeful ending
Blurb
The Snape of the 2000s before the last books were published. Ambiguous morality? Check. Ambiguous motivations? Check! Ambiguous allegiances? Check! His characterization confuses the reader just like it confuses poor Harry. A brilliant and ambitious plot that delivers on everything it promises and some!
Snape kidnaps Harry and trains him to defeat Voldemort. Kind of. He keeps Harry isolated and dependent on him to make sure that Harry trusts him. The fic is really dark especially on the psychological side. Harry has a terrible life. This fic doesn't hide or lighten up that stuff. How can he actually defeat Voldemort? Why isn't Dumbledore training him? A lot of the questions before Hallows was published have super creative answers in this fic.
"Please," he said, eyes still closed. "I just -- I need to understand."
A rustle of robes. "What is there to understand? I used you, Potter, and Voldemort is dead, and you're once again a hero, and I'm once again a traitor. Congratulations on a game well played."
It is a heavier fic. Definitely look at the warnings!
The ending fits the fic. Sometimes even on really good fics I feel like the ending doesn't match the fic. This one knocks it out of the park.
Rec note I kind of have lost track of how many times I read this fic. It's just an absolute thriller. Reading for the nth time doesn't make it feel dated or boring which can happen with older fics sometimes. I got a Matrix Agent Smith movie vibe from this fic.
"So what was the point if you didn't let me listen? Just to make you feel better about the whole thing? I can't even-- I can't relate to you. I feel like I'm talking to an alien." "Speak with a lot of aliens, do you?"

King of Fat
by rinsbane
Genre - hard to categorize. It's set in wartime. Character study. Happy ending!
Blurb - The fic that got me started on the idea of making this list! Unique, brilliant and unsettling.
A character study of Severus Snape. How does he see the world? How does he think about the major players in his life? In this fic his mother raised animals for slaughter and curing. So from his childhood Severus thinks about beauty and personality in terms of fat.
Snape had long ago learned that he was not one of the Beautiful. The Dark Lord, though – the Dark Lord was all economy of motion and languid ease, all sharp impatience and sleek insinuation, all burning coals held behind a sheet of ice. He smelled like sweet smoke rising from a sacrifice of flesh, and his voice was the low crackle of the fire devouring the meat. He was the altar and the fat upon it, and he sacrificed to himself, and he would pull Snape up onto his fire and burn him, and Snape would be remade into a thing of beauty himself.
Harry is oranges and freshness in comparison. There is a powerful scene where Severus is rubbing orange juice on his Dark Mark to clean it. The fic goes on to describe Dumbledore, Lucius and Draco on a similar note.
Have you ever read a fic and felt it's just using the right kind of words and the right amounts of words to tell this story? In Snape's take, no spare fat here in this fic!

Leave the Children Behind
by montparnasse
Genre Angst with a happy ending
Blurb A gorgeously written fic. It is poetry written like prose. You know what they say about words touching you in the soul? This is that kind of fic. It gives me the vibe of movies like A Beautiful Mind. Remus centric. It starts with Remus getting the news about the Potters death and Sirius's betrayal in 1981. The ending is in Harry's fifth year when Sirius and Remus are reunited in Grimmauld Place.
. He wants to tell Dumbledore to feel the weight of Sirius’ name around his neck heavier than penance, go on, Headmaster, stretch your hands out across the empty bed, remember the edges of his teeth at dusk once a month as you rebirth yourself under the hot white acid-flood of the moon, and don’t forget, don’t ever forget how much he never loved you. Do this, again and again and again, as many times as your brittle life will allow. Then, Remus thinks, then you can speak to me of strength.
The characterization of Remus, Sirius and Harry are brilliant. Sirius especially is one of the best Sirius characterizations I have read in fic if not the best! But it's also the rare m/m slash fic that puts in just as much into female characters like Fleur and Tonks.
“What I’m saying—what I’m saying is, it feels like the world left me behind,” says Sirius, leaning over to blow out the last candle and tug the quilt over them. “And it did, didn’t it? I feel like I’m just now starting to catch up. With myself, as much as anything.”
This fic is definitely angsty - it's the kind of angst that you don't want to stop feeling it anyway.
Pairing Sirius/Remus

Measureless to Man
by Amanuensis
Genre Dubcon, Pregnancy
Blurb Amanuensis has some delicious dub con fics. In this fic, new mom Narcissa is giving advice to pregnant Lily. Lily wants advice on how to raise a wizard child because she is feeling some insecurity as a Muggleborn who married a pureblood. She wants to impress her in laws. Narcissa uses this as the chance to show how Slytherin she is. She does things under the cover of teaching Lily on how to be a good Wizard mom.
Good dub con fics are hard to come by. Especially in femslash. This fic doesn't try to be anything other than one thing and one thing only.
Lily could read that smile. That smile said it understood why Lily was there, even though Lily could hardly put it into words herself. She didn't like Narcissa--hated the bloody woman. Hated her and her pureblooded house and pureblooded husband and her undisguised contempt for all things muggle--and muggle-born. So why had she accepted Narcissa's imperious summons--nothing like an invitation--to visit and learn first-hand what was expected of a mother with a wizarding newborn?
Pairing Narcissa/Lily

A Necessary Evil
by kai
Genre Male pregnancy, Wartime, bittersweet ending
Voldemort is defeated but he's got one more plot! He makes himself into a fetus in Albus Dumbledore's stomach. Severus and Harry have to figure out how to get rid of Voldemort from Dumbledore's body without letting anybody else know about this problem...without killing Dumbledore in the process. Dumbledore being Dumbledore wants to love the fetus and give it a second chance. If this sounds like a whacky crackfic it really isn't. It's subversive and brilliant in some of the subjects it's looking at like abortion and ethics. Like Help Wanted: God and Executioner which we saw on the list before in this fic we are back to looking at the greater good. Poppy wants to protect Albus's rights as his healer. Severus and Harry want the fetus gone. Lucius has some agenda.
"Yes," Albus said mildly, as if our objections were absurd. "I plan to bear the child."
Poppy shook a thick sheaf of medical records at him. "Albus, you're 156 years old. You're not in the best of health. This is so far beyond medically unwise that it borders on the suicidal."
"We're talking about an infant," Albus said, shifting a bit against the mound of pillows piled at his back. "A veritable tabula rasa."
Tabula rasa? A grimy scrap of parchment with runes written in shit was more like.
The fic goes in some unpredictable directions but it lives up to the ambitious scope it tries to cover. The YMMV part in the fic is Harry's characterization. It is definitely closer to overpowered/grey tropes but we have to remember that this fic was written in 2004 before tropes like that were super common. Put in that context the fic has a lot of interesting things about Harry's characterization.
Rec notes - First-person POV! Severus's POV works here brilliantly to show us that picture of horror and desperation when he is working against time to save Dumbledore and get rid of Voldemort. Dark humor in dark times! First-person POV makes this fic what it is - personal and incredibly powerful as we share in Severus's worries about Harry, Lucius, Voldemort and Albus.

Odysseus's Last Days
by amand_r
Genre - Tragedy, Major character death, suicide, no happy ending
Blurb - This fic is heartbreaking. Harry saves Severus. He doesn't save himself. Severus's mourning and how the Weasleys and Hermione support him is crushing. This is a great fic. Angst is hard to write in a realistic manner without going overboard. Somehow this fic manages that beautifully. It's definitely going to find its way into your thoughts and stay there.
Rec note The angstiest fic on this list.

A Prelude To A Kiss
femmequixotic
Genre Mystery, Rebellion, Great escape, Pining, Happy ending
Blurb A political intrigue fic. Unique and clever. Femmequixotic is incredibly talented at writing this kind of thriller and sneaking in a bunch of emotionally fraught relationships between the main characters. Draco's characterization here is rich and layered. This is fast paced. No dull moment. But if you stop and think you see the terrible decisions everybody made in the war to just survive.
Draco sleeps around London and scandals are happening because of him. His father who is the Minister in Voldemort's government sends him to Cornwall. He starts discovering secrets about the Order. We find out that Draco was working for the Order. He went back to Lucius when Severus is killed. But Lucius saved Severus and stashed him in Cornwall. Severus is now helping Order members to escape to France. Draco has to make a choice between staying with his father or leaving with Severus.

Rats' Alley
by FabulaRasa
Genre Wartime, vampire, happy ending
Blurb Sirius and Severus are prisoners in Lucius Malfoy's dungeon. The situation makes Sirius find out Severus is a vampire. It's a nonstop action and adventure after that. The feels! Sirius thinking about Azkaban, how he used to be before Azkaban especially when it was about sex. Sirius is a man who is kind of frozen in time. He has got a great sense of fairness. Chess is his main coping method.
Always it had been like that for him -- seeing the chess board clear and entire, every move forward and backward for ten moves on either side. Unlike life. In Azkaban, he had torn bits of his tattered clothing off to make chess pieces. It had kept him sane. He looked about him, studying the dungeon again. Captivity made sense. It was life that was confusing.
Like a lot of fics written before the final books this one has a pureblood Severus Snape and a halfblood Sirius Black. Cruel stepfather makes child Severus a vampire. Lucius gets him to sign up with the Death Eaters promising acceptance because the Ministry treats vampires really badly.
The fic is about Severus finding acceptance with Dumbledore, Sirius, Harry and other students at the school just like it's about Sirius finally figuring out what falling in love means for him. It's got a happy ending!
Rec notes I didn't think a Creature Fic was going to show up on this particular list. FabulaRasa's Sirius characterization is absolutely brilliant. Leaving this fic out was impossible.

Sans Merci
by Predatrix
Genre Tragedy, exploitation, no happy ending
Blurb Severus's characterization is a bit like Sherlock in the TV show. This fic predates the show though. He's a happy kid. Running experiments, reading books and avoiding his mother. Rare fic where he has a good father and a not so good mother. His birthday gift from his father is an ant farm. It makes kid Severus really happy.
How could he even know if he wanted friends or not? He was still finding out how people fitted together. He knew a good deal more about ants, for example.
It gets really serious and dark pretty quickly. Severus falls into Lucius's orbit. He signs up with Voldemort. Severus learns how to Slytherin in order to survive.
Another fic written before the final books with a pureblood Snape backstory. Like a lot of the fics in this era the author has a creative take on the character. I honestly don't know if another HP character got great fics written about them by so many talented fanfic authors during the books, after the books came out and even now. Pretty sure that this is my just reading bias. Anyway.
Style of writing! This one has a Terry Pratchett vibe to it. I really like how both Severus and Lucius are shown here.
He could hear Lucius ordering something, in a low voice, ending with, “...and get on with it or I’ll make you set fire to your feet.” Oh well, that was reassuringly normal. Lucius never did dreadful things to the house-elves himself. That was their job.
Rec note The take on Dumbledore has a strong bias. I don't generally like to read or rec fics with this kind of bias in his character. But the fic overall is unique with some strong standout moments.

Trainspotting
by kelly_chambliss
Genre Wartime, hopeful open ending
Blurb Voldemort won the battle at Hogwarts. Minerva and the other survivors are now scattered. Minerva hides in Muggle areas and finds a job as a part-time teacher under the name Mina Morgan. The other teachers Gemma and Phil are trying to find out more about her. The fic is told from different POVs - Minerva, Rolanda, Gemma. Kingsley and Arthur are trying to get the Order back up again. Minerva sends her paycheck to them. She is living in a bad area without much money for food. I found this fic a realistic take on what would have happened if Voldemort actually won. The Order would definitely regroup and continue. But it will take them time.
Minerva's characterization here is just perfect.
She will soldier on, she knows, because that is what she does. And because anything else would be surrender, which she doesn't do.
The relationship between Rolanda and Minerva is tender and comfortable. It's dark times. But they have each other.
This is a hauntingly beautiful fic that will leave a impression. Writing, plot, characterization, narration - everything fits together for a unique fic.

Upon My Word And Honor
by calrissian18
Genre Wartime. Romance and angst. Character death. Bittersweet ending.
Blurb Draco and Percy are working together to find information about their enemies. They are also doing Horcrux hunting. I really like the author's take on Horcrux hunting as a group effort. Harry, Hermione, Ron, Draco and Percy are working together. A lot of the characters are dead. The Ministry is supporting Voldemort. Percy is losing his faith in the Ministry. This world is really dark and full of suspense.
The Ministry was his life, and had been since his fifth year of Hogwarts when he was called into McGonagall's office to discuss his career path, and yet he was impetuously destroying everything he had ever believed in for Malfoy, crushing his--his religion for this man.
Sacrifices need to be made. Draco takes the Horcrux in Harry's scar so that Harry doesn't have to die.
Malfoy's hand twirled above them as if he intended to pluck his words from thin air. "We're all our own greatest enemies and our own bravest champions. When our story ends we only have to hope that we've played all the right parts."
The love between Draco and Percy, Draco's characterization. Percy changing because of Draco. This is a gorgeous fic and unforgettable. Percy's funeral speech is heartbreaking. If you have seen The Spy Who Came In From the Cold it's that kind of vibe.

by perverse_idyll
Genre Dark, postwar, seriously angsty, imprisonment, dubcon, hopeful ending.
Blurb - Severus is under house arrest after the war with some really horrifying wards. Harry defeated Voldemort. But Voldemort got a last curse in - Harry was cursed to bear the guilt of Voldemort's crimes. Can they help each other? In the beginning Harry's just using his power in the situation to make Severus suffer. But how much of his actions is his own and how much is because of the ghosts of Voldemort's crimes? Harry's obsessed with Severus.
For one searing second, as pure and without conscience as a flame, a tiny smoulder in the corner that could burn down a house, Harry knew for certain he would someday fuck Snape. He wanted it, and he would make Snape want it, too. Even if it meant choking him into submission. Even if he had to use the collar to persuade him.
The fic is intense and complex. But it has a bittersweet and hopeful ending. Harry manages to free Severus from the wards. Severus frees Harry from Voldemort's curse. How are they doing that? Arithmancy. No, really.
Because the power to do so is based in the arithmantic complexities and interactions of emotions you can't control.
If In Between Days has the Snape characterization of the 2000s before the last books came out, When the Rose and the Fire Are One has the Snape characterization post-Hallows for me. I'm kind of used to getting my heart broken for either Harry or Severus in Snarry fics. This fic got me crying for both of them. Like I mentioned on another blurb, it's pretty common for fics with Snape as a MC to focus on his characterization more. He's definitely one of the most complex characters in canon so I see why the fics focus on him more. This fic has brilliant and an unforgettable characterization for him. But it's also got an equally powerful and unique one for Harry which matches the intensity of the Snape characterization.
Rec note - Sometimes a fic kills you with its intensity so much and you cannot really think about anything else. This fic made me take a break from reading Snape centric fics for ages because I didn't want to read another type of characterization for him. It was just perfect for me. With all that said, this is a heavier fic. It had such a total Never Let Me Go movie vibe to it. Uncomfortably human in a place where you least expect it.
Pairing - Severus/Harry
Length - 81000 words
Your Eyes Close
by NecromanticNoir
Genre - Dark, postwar, reality travel, bittersweet open ending
Blurb - Severus Snape is standing trial for his crimes. The prosecution have got their case figured out - they have got evidence of the sexual fantasies he has created in potions. Harry Potter is the object of his fantasies. His potions are actually more complicated than creating fantasies. They help him travel to alternate realities. He is sentenced to death. Harry saves him. Things go south from there. This is a dark fic with a lot of unpredictable twists and turns.
“So you do want… all those things.”
“Not those exact things, no,” Snape sighs.
“You don’t want them? But they’re your fantasies!” Potter cries. “I can’t understand why someone as intelligent and gifted as you spends all his free time making sex fantasy potions! Don’t you have anything better to do, or are you just that twisted?”
Pairing Severus/Harry
Length 21000 words
Dates are best effort. Let me know if you have suggestions for J, Q, V, X, Z!

The FoE, the Eldritch Fellows, and involvement in Arthuriana...
So...doubling down on The FoE beginning some time prior to all that Arthurian stuff going down...best think about how staples relate and to what degree the Eldritch Fellows and the FoE have to do with it( whether some are more concerned elsewhere in the world). Arthur. Still Arthur, raised by Sir Ector trained by Merlin, half brother to Morgan Le Fay...that’s all unchanged. Only notable thing is that after all that business with Mordred and dying and stuff he’ll be married off to Queen(Empress?) Gloriana of Faerie. Said marriage being arranged by Alyss and Morgana prior to Arthur’s becoming King...as part of a treaty with Faerie and Elfphame so they don’t outright conquer everything in the world. Morgana: will be human, not the mother of Mordred but his aunt twice over (Arthur and Morgouse), still magical. The Convent she was sent to will truly be an Academy for the FoE (one of two at the time). She’ll still learn all the Arts and Sciences, being really into Astronomy (probably Alan’s favorite student since she was more interested in the Astronomy then the Demonology). And still super adept with Magic and stuff. Will have been a part of the meeting where her brother is promised as a future husband to the Faerie Queen Gloriana. Will follow the tract of mostly antagonistic towards Arthur, still hating G...I can never remember how to spell her name right! Gwen...till remaining good. Not sure what she does after Arthur’s death and second Marriage. Might run the Brocéliande Academy...might stick around Avalon...as an Advisor to her little brother I don’t know. Avalon. Being the Isle of Apples, Algimantas May keep an Orchard or two here for his Idunnian and Hesperidean apples. Will likely serve as the Capital Kingdom of Gloriana’s Piece of Faerie. Will likely be a means of going to and from Faerie from the regular world. Albus has a Light House on Avalon...because. Merlin: Not sure with Merlin...might have him be one of the Eldritch Fellows themselves (Alfr, Aldread, and even Alaire are possibilities)? Or...given how going by Malory he’s supposed to be the Son of the Devil or just an Incubus...might have him instead be a Son of one of the Eldritch Fellows. Likely either Alan (because of the Devil thing)...or possibly Albus (since Albus could probably be imagined as an Incubus if I’m remembering correctly what those are)? Either way this would make him Cousin to the Queens of Faerie and Elfphame, as well as cousin to Alyss. Lady of the Lake: um....hm. Possibly just a simple Fairy...possibly actually Murdann (Finwife and wife to Albus)? Hm...Nah. Just a Fairy belonging to Gloriana’s Court. Arthur’s Arsenal: mainly considering The Sword in the Stone, Excalibur, and Carnwennan. The former two probably made by Albus at Merlin’s request. Carnwennan by Alaire, and Algimantas dealt with making Excalibur’s special scabbard. The Holy Grail: The FoE (And Algimantas) wants it for reasons and keeps tabs on the questing Knights. Autolycus Lupin following the Grail Knights with the task of stealing the Grail once they find it( might also try nabbing the Spear of Destiny while he’s at it). The Green Knight: Green Knight is the Green Knight. One of the Old Green Men (though not a Goodfellow) and a part of Alwin’s Retinue and Hunt. Make of this what you will. Thoughts for Eldritchicians...
The five to nine(I don’t know how many? I just know I want it to be odd...or maybe even so including Alvis makes it odd?) Apprentices/Assistants whose actions led to the founding of the actual Fellowship to begin with. Medusa. Yes, that Medusa. In this case the Priestess turned monster rather than the one who was always a monster. Recruited after a Fellow made the case that Medusa was done wrong, and being a devotee to a Goddess of Wisdom she may be inclined to learn what the Fellowship has to offer, and bring a lot of her own skill and wisdom to the table. Alvis is convinced by this and is happy to share wisdom with someone who’d appreciate it.?Algimantus is convinced to help since by getting Medusa elsewhere so as to avoid Perseus, Medusa will owe a life debt...and Algimantus knows the amazing properties of Gorgon Blood and Gorgon Hair...Medusa is taken under Alvis’ wing somewhat and becomes one of the best archivists and lore keepers in the whole Fellowship (other stuff to be added). Gets an Iron Book pendant for working with Alvis. Is given special glasses ala Cyclops so that she doesn’t turn everyone into Stone (The Fellowship have their own special glasses which protect them from Medusa’s Stare anyway). I know she either dislikes or outright hates Algimantus. Has a Adamant Harpe...but hardly uses it or sees the need to use it. Snake hair is golden...with a chalk or marble white complexion? Quincey Johnathan Jack Harker. As the first and last name show, this is the Son (eldest of Three Harker children) of Mina and Johnathan Harker. Quincey is the one who eventually took up the study of Vampires and other spooky goings ons. In his early thirties Found himself in Alvis’ book shop one day and ended up joining the Fellowship. Ended up training with Albus in combat and learning about Ghosts and unknown horrors of the deep and elsewhere. For this he has a Orichalcum Lighthouse Pendant. His time with Albus (mainly the setting of a Lighthouse, and the apparent sexiness of sword fighting) brought Quincey to several conclusions about himself (mainly how he’s Bi)...tried and failed in courting Albus. Often has two Bowie knives on his person. The one belonging to his namesake and what helped in killing Dracula. The other made of Adamant and provided by the FoE. Runs what’s basically a Victorian Romantic era ghostbusters with his brother Lucius. I’m not sure...but I think he’ll be a red head (Mina having had red hair)...have Mustache of some sort (nothing too silly)...and his clothes will probably be in the pallet (is that the right word) of the Bisexual flag....though he likely doesn’t fully know of the significance of his outfits colors. Lucius Abraham Harker: Quincey’s younger brother...and also a ghost. He’s technically not a apart of the Fellowship, just an honorary member. Can only be seen by Quincey, some other Eldritchicians, other ghosts...and come to think of it quite a number of people. He didn’t die tragically or anything (aside from dying relatively young). His only unfinished business is making sure Quincey doesn’t get himself killed. Also regularly sets up hauntings with other ghosts in the hopes of setting his brother up with suitable bachelorettes and bachelors. Resemblance between him and his brother are clear..with Lucius being younger..and clean shaven. Possibly dark haired? (A dark haired Johnathan could still have a recessive gene for red hair right? I forget genetics) Isemene: Like Medusa a priestess of Athena. The first, or one of the first, to fall under Medusa’s Gaze (not intended). Was saved from being a statue by Algimantus trying out anti venom from the hair of a different Medusa (other universes and so on). Was the one who put forth the idea of recruiting Medusa and was there when Alvis, Algimantus, and the leadership (?) of the Fellowship did so. Was the one to sway Medusa to joining. I’m not sure how yet...but I imagine she has something of a leftover from her previously stone state. Either she is flesh and blood, but her face and joints are cracked like stone. Or she’s mostly flesh and blood with here and there remaining stone...I’m not sure. She trained under Algimantus in the use , finding, retrieving and making of Magical items (like Gorgon Anti Venom among other things), and has a Silver Dragon surrounding a Golden Apple pendant to show for it. Lastly (for now) there’s Charles Williams. Or at least A Charles Williams. Specifically a Charles Williams who learned about the Fellowship and really wanted to join it. Succeeding when he helped Quincey and a few other Eldritchicians with a very disagreeable and dangerous spirit. Is possibly (?) one of the few Eldritchicians to have the Lighthouse, the Book, and the Dragon and Apple as pendants (or maybe they’re badges). Studying first under Alvis(who taught him about Angels and Angel related things), then Albus (to become better with Ghosts, and how to fight if necessary), and Algimantus ( dealing with Relics and other mystical Artifacts like those which show up in Williams’ novels...though not just Christian things). Has a simple Rapier for the aesthetic of it...and still his trademark blue suit. Other ideas to follow. Make of this what you will. Al, the Chronographing Cottager and Prince of Naming

What do the Als do for breakfast? I feel like Albus is a peanut-butter-on-waffles guy.
Huh...you know I never really thought of this. Time to think on it.
Albus: He does indeed enjoy peanut butter on waffles, and is generally greeted to breakfast in bed prepared by the Ghosts who live in his many light houses. He also occasionally goes out to breakfast with his Fellow Alaire.
Algimantas : Belgian Waffles, French Toast, Pancakes, Bacon, Sausages, Kielbasa, and many glasses of Apple juice. He also always has something for Alaric to nibble on.
Alphaes: They usually have breakfast with whoever they’d been hanging out with at the time....so it varies a lot.
Alwin: Berries, Eggs, and Bacon from Boars, he also mooches off whatever Elves he’s staying with, and will regularly steal Breakfasts he finds particularly appetizing when no one is looking.
Alfr and Aldread: they enjoy lavish breakfasts with whichever Monarch they are currently advising. Alfr is particularly fond of Bacon, while Aldread is more of Kielbasa sorta guy.
Alan: Biscuits, Bacon, and a pancake if he can find a place.
Alaire: Biscuits with plenty of butter, Pancakes with plenty of Syrup, Bacon and a gallon of Milk. Normally finds himself at little out of the way dinners and things. Will have breakfast on the road around his fires (again, Bscuits bacon and Pancakes) and always has an open invitation to his Fellows or Alyss, or any Eldritchician who has gotten to know him to join him for breakfast (Alyss often does).
Alewar: Too busy for Breakfast.
Alvis: Alvis at first didn’t bother with Breakfast or eating (since the Eldritch Fellows don’t technically need to eat), and only ever had food around to feed his many birds. This changed once he took in Alyss. At first he really only handed out Poptarts and maybe the occasional slice of Toast...more focused on his sleep and studies. Alyss would normally get healthier breakfasts from her friend Tomomi (A Fox Spirit who attached themselves to Alvis’ bookshop who Alvis is generally indifferent to). One day Alair and Albus visit...and the two drag Alvis out of his shop and the four (possibly five with the aforementioned Tomomi tagging along) to the nearest dinner for what they consider a proper breakfast. Alvis is up much more often and almost always has a moment to have breakfast with Alyss (even if it isn’t really a time of day for Breakfast). I will note hear Alyss usually has breakfast either by herself, with one or more of the Eldritch Fellows. And on occasion has organized breakfasts with her Fellow Overseers and some of the Eldritch Fellows. Always finds time for meals with the Eldritch Fellows(who are all basically her dads/uncles).
Alastor: Alastor does not eat. That’s it really.
Okay...I think that’s all of them?
Thanks for the question Sock, I never really considered this.
Feel free to ask any other questions you might have concerning the Als (aka the Eldritch Fellows), The FoE, or certain individual Eldritchicians.
Make of this what you will.

The many portraits of Albus V Eldritch.
Let me specify this is not a situation of a dude having a bunch of Horocrux Dorian Grey portraits (though that’s a good idea)...but literally just the idea of a character (one Albus Viggo Eldritch) having a bunch of Paintings in his many places of residences. Subjects of such paintings include: Albus doing cool necromancer things decked out in the Robes he wore as Archimago Albus Eldritch (Black with Red and White embroidery depicting Skeletons and Ghosts and such things...embroidery retained in his Pirate Captain Coat) Reuniting lovers, officiating a Wedding (cause ship captains can do that right?) of some Ghost sailors, calling down a hellish Tempest. Walking around Sunken Ruins. Etc. Fencing with Ghost Pirates. Just lounging about with his various lady loves, manly loves (gentlemanly loves?) and so on. At least a Painting of him Murdann, Prioska, and Cosmin all hanging out being cute and stuff. His underwater wedding to Murdann, he and Cosmin clearing out Dom Daniel, a Painting of Prioska raiding Albus’ wardrobe while the ghosts mess with him while he’s sleeping. Someone or other gazing over his shoulder while he’s doing Cartography stuff (possibly Sinbad correcting him on mistakes?). The setting up of the Light House of Avalon. Him just admiring Murdann as she Spins, partying with his Ghost Buds dancing on Tables and things jamming out on his Flute (or Whistle? I’m still not entirely certain what he plays). One of him pulling a Hamlet and holding Yorick’s (a skilled Eldritchician and Surgeon who happens to be an animated Skeleton) with Yorick’s body off to the side arms crossed in annoyance. Albus teaching a young Alyss how to sword fight...Albus wreaking havoc on the people responsible for making Captain Kit a Ghost Kitten...and so on and so on. And of course a ton of pictures of him and his many many cats(so many cats enough that a number of Armadas would each have a Cat or two). And basically any time he gets a New cat another painting is commissioned. I know that Albus probably (probably?) doesn’t paint these himself. Probably? Likely has either a long line of Painters do them for him, or an Immortal one? I’m not sure...maybe Prioska? I’m not sure. But anyway, Albus has a bunch of Paintings of stuff of him just...doing his thing over the centuries. If you have any questions about Albus, or any previous thing concerning the Fellowship of Eldritchicians (FoE) or the Eldritch Fellows...feel free to ask. Make of this what you will. Al, the Chronographing Cottager and Prince of Naming.

Dual wield Alveric! Your life depends on it!
So I’ve begun reading the King of Elfland’s Daughter by Lord Dunsany. Only on chapter five or so...but The protagonist ends up freakin dual wielding two swords against four Elvin Knights? One sword given to him by his Father that I imagine to be a Rapier for the note of it being long and thin. The other a super magical sword he got from a witch friend of his...which is awesome (I will definitely be having a Sword similar to this one made from Thunderbolts and runes and stuff for the sword Aled will be gifted by Albus V Eldritch in the FoE story thing)! It being...I don’t recall if it’s long, but it is wide and large enough that it has to be worn over his shoulder rather than the hip opposite his Father’s sword. I don’t know, there’s just something hilarious about dual wielding two swords to me....weird. Make of this what you will. Al, the Chronographing Cottager and Prince of Naming

A Current list of Eldritchicians those developed and under developed.
I will list the Currently thought up Eldritchicians. This might be repetitive but ah well. Will have their name, what Eldritch topics they’re familiar with, any particular interesting bits about them like if they’re part of a Splinter group or what have you. Hope you find this interesting, and if you have any questions be they important or otherwise...please ask away! Please? Alyss Violet Eldridge: First Eldritchician. The Arch Overseer, Founder and leader of the FoE. Adopted daughter of Alvis Vadim Eldritch. Raised by Alvis and the rest of his Fellows. Has learned a little of everything from the each Eldritch Fellow (even Alastor) Skilled in the Rapier, Carnwennanian Dagger, excellent persuader and diplomat (when necessary). Always has a book on her person. Has an Awoken Shadow. Is Dark skinned with unnaturally white hair. Wears three Rings. Her Overseer and Arch Overseer Rings on her left (An Iron Ring set with Amethyst and a Silver Ring set with Lapis Lazuli), and a Ring gifted to her by the Eldritch Fellows which is visibly made of Orichalcum with a brilliant blood red stone of some sort (a very philosophical sort). Immediate superior to all Eldritchicians. Will occasionally not wear her Overseer Rings and go about business as a simple Eldritchician, usually teaming up with Tomomi and Charles Williams. Overseer Secundus Sinbad Al-Amin. A Cartographer and Blacksmith from Damascus. Knows how to make Damascus Steel. Has learned from Alvis(Wisdom) Albus(Ghosts and Sea Creatures) , Algimantas (Items and Objects and Allan (Demons and things considered Demons and such). Vice Chancellor of the Academy for Eldritchicians. An avid Cartographer of Strange and unusual Locales. A friend to Alvis. Wears two rings. One is his Overseer Ring, the other is a Agate Ring which to my knowledge is a custom of Muslim men. If this is incorrect, please correct me. Overseer Morgan Maddox. A Scottish (or Welsh? I’m not sure yet) Warrior. Friend of Alyss. Heads the Saint Alyss Academy for Eldritchicians. Skilled in Spear, and Carnwennanian Dagger. The Overseer who ...oversees the paperwork for the occasional necessary extermination and such? Monster hunting and the like. Learned under the Legendary Scàthach before meeting Alyss and the Eldritch Fellows. As an Eldritchician Studied under Alvis, Algimantas, Albus, and Alaire. Her Spear is made by Albus from The bone of a Sea Monster, Silver, Cold Iron, Meteoric Iron, And Orichalcum. Has a Prosthetic Arm of Magic Silver made by Algimantas. Wears her Overseer Ring on her left hand. Overseer Runa. A Norse Elf who along with her sister Huld followed Alvis around for a month or two certain that he was Odin. When the two realized Alvis was in fact not Odin they stuck around all the same. Runa joined the founding Eldritchicians while Huld helps in managing the Archives alongside Sophocles. Runa is basically the Bard (or Skald I suppose) of the Overseers. Has studied under Alvis, Algimantas, Albus, Alaire (for storytelling). Wears her Overseer Ring on his left hand. Overseer Cosmin The Solomonar: as the Title suggests, Cosmin is a (former?) Solomonar. A Wizard (?) From Romanian Folklore (Mythology?). Controls the Weather and rides a Dragon. Runs the Grey School, modeled after his own Education as a Solomonar at the Scholomance. Already knew a whole lot but has studied with Alvis, Algimantas, Albus, Alaire, and studied with Algernon even. Wears his Overseer Ring Overseer Archimedes: A Mothman. Tall black winged thing . Best friend to Alaire. In charge of the Fellows In Grey, a Splinter group in the Fellowship that deals with Cryptids, Aliens, and so on. Does not wear his Overseer Ring nor any of his pins. He leaves all the stuff which denotes him as an Eldritchician with Alaire. Alaire being the only Eldritch Fellow to actually kinda sorta join the FoE. Sophocles of Alexandria: Head Archivist for the Fellowship. He is not really an Overseer....he is imprisoned in the Archives for having tried stealing a book from Alvis...this did not end well for Sophocles place of Employment, The Library of Alexandria (books were sparred, rest was destroyed). Can not leave the Archives. Medusa: Former Priestess of Athena, Gorgon. Studied Alvis’ Wisdom, Algimantas’ stuff (who she hates), Alpheas, and with Albus. In a Trio with Ismene and Prioska. Studied shapeshifters and transformation with Alphaes (spelling?). In a relationship with Ismene. Her serpent locks are Golden. Ismene: Former Priestess of Athena. Also a Former Statue. Still has some Statue characteristics. Studied with Alvis, Algimantas, and Albus. In a relationship with Medusa. Prioska Lakatos: A Vampire from Hungary. Skilled in Clockwork. Has a Coat she stole from Albus. Calls Albus Alucard. Studied under Albus, Alvis, Algimantas, and Alaire. On a Trio with Ismene and Medusa. Also a part of Alyss’ Intelligentsia (keeping track of other secret Societies and Spy things). Loves teasing Quincey. Quincey Johnathan Jack Harker: Eldest son of Johnathan and Mina Harker. Vampire Hunter. Studied with Albus (Ghosts and stuff), Algimantas, Alvis. Duel wields Bowie Knives (one belonging to his Namesake, the other made of Adamant by Albus). Is Bi...not always the brightest...Can see Ghosts. On a Trio with Horatio and Runa. Might be in a relationship with Huld? Lucius Abraham Arthur Harker: Second Harker Son and Younger brother to Quincey. Is not an Eldritchician. He is a ghost though and is haunting his Brother (‘To keep an eye on my dummy of a Brother so he doesn’t get himself killed). Will regularly set up Hauntings so as to set up his brother with Eligible Bachelors and Bachelorettes and so on. Huld: Norse elf who followed Alvis for months thinking he was Odin with her sister Runa. Might be in a relationship with Quincey? Learned from Alaire, Albus, Algimantus, as well Alewar (Eldritch Horrors In a Extra Planetary Or Lovecraftian sense), and Alwin (Fae and Elves). In a relationship with Quincey? Leader of her Trio? Horatio aka ‘Doctor Faustus’: A Danish Man recognized for dressing in all black. Wields a Rapier. Known as Doctor Faustus since he’s studied Demons with Allan and he studied at Wittenberg. Studied with Alaire and has an Awoken Shadow. It is named but he always says it so quietly, only Horatio and Alaire know the name. Quincey has been able to catch that the name of Horatio’s Shadow starts with an H...followed by an A. Horatio has put all his Eldritch studies into Shadows, Demons and Ghosts. It is rumored he gave his Soul over to Allan V Eldritch. Wields a Carnwennanian Dagger Or a Bespoked Bodkin. Leaving his own Shadow...Lighter for lack of a better phrase . In a Trio with Quincey and Huld. Aeschylus Adams: A Werewolf Ranger, and one of Alyss’ Intelligentsia. Think of a mix of Aragorn and Halt O’Carrick. Excellent Thief and Pick pocket. Studied with Alaire (Cryptids, Shadows, and Folklore), Albus, and Algimantas. Studied Druid craft and stuff with Alfr. In a Trio with Midas Little and Murdann. Dr. Mercury Little: one of Four Little Brothers (three of whom are a part of the FoE), differentiated From his brothers by his Seemingly unnatural Silver hair. Studied Angels and Alchemy with Aldread, Albus, Alvis, and Alaire. Murdann Eldritch: A Finwife From Orkney. First Wife of Albus Viggo Eldritch. Joined after having been with Albus for some years. Knows what Albus has to teach, learned from Alvis, and Alfr. An exceptional Healer. Regularly has Weaving Contests with Ismene and Medusa. In a Trio with Dr Little and Aeschylus. Open relationship with Albus. Dr. Hermes Little: Same as Doctor Mercury Little. Only he has white Hair. Eldest of the Little ‘Brothers’. Studied all the same stuff. In a Trio with Charles Williams and Clarissa Williams. Charles Williams: Once an Editor now an Eldritchician. Tried repeatedly to join the FoE and finally managed it after trying forever. Studied Alchemy and Angels with Aldread, Magical Items with Algimantas (specifically Relics), Ghosts with Albus, and a bunch of others (Alvis, Alwin, and Algernon). The Left hand of the Arch Overseer. Go to diplomat between other Secret Societies. One of Alyss’ Intelligentsia( occasionally answers to the Codename Walsingham). Also, I should mention he’s an ESPer....Telepathy, Telekinesis, and Pyrokinesis for fun ;) . Clarissa Williams: Alternate Charles Williams. ESPER, Can see Ghosts Naturally. Intelligentsia member (Code Name Francis). Dr. Midas Little: same as the other Doctor Littles except that his hair is Golden. In a Trio with Tomomi and Dr. Leeds. Tomomi.: a Kitsune, friend to Alyss since she (Alyss) was young. Expert on Yokai and things. Studied with Alaire, Alvis, Albus, Algimantus and Alpheas (because shapeshifting). Just decided to be the guardian of Alvis’ Bookshop when they were in Japan one time. In a Trio with Dr. Midas Little and Dr. Leeds. when not going on solo missions for Alyss. A part of Alyss’ Intelligentsia (Code Name Dee, because she wasn’t fond of Kit Marlowe as a Codename). Doctor Mary Leeds: 12th Child of the Leeds family and the immediate Elder sibling and Caretaker to John Daniel Leeds...aka...the Jersey Devil. A Medicinal Doctor. Studied with Albus, Alvis, Algimantas, and Alaire. Stood up for her baby Brother when he killed one of the Night Crawlers working for Archimedes. She keeps track of Her Brother to make sure he doesn’t cause trouble (otherwise Archimedes and Alaire will need to deal with him). Learned medicine from the Black Doctor Ghost. One of the Fellows In Grey. Developed the spray they use to wipe memories and things. Mr Erland Ranswell: A Grey Alien in a Grey Suit. One of Archimedes’ Fellows In Grey. A Linguist and Cartographer. Has endeavored to learn the Whooping language of the Fresno Nightcrawlers Employed by Archimedes and Alaire. In a Trio ‘officially’ but not really with Dr. Livesey and Dr. Mercury Little. Dr. Yorick Roger Livesey: Once a Ship’s Surgeon now an animate Skeleton (rather than a Ghost like most who stay at Albus’ Lighthouses). Dressed in Piratey clothes and wears one of Albus’ old Coats when not doing Surgery or what have you. Has studied with Albus, Alaire, and Alvis. As well as Algernon. Can not speak and communicates In two ways. Either sign language or a horrible creaking noise that has an echo of bone saws. The first is interpreted by a Talking Raven Named Apollo Teach, the second by a Talking Snake Named Asclepius Hands. Asclepius’ Voice is supposed to serve as an auditory Balm after hearing Yorick Speak. Dr. Livesey gets along with Murdann and Prioska. He works closely with Albus ( being his First mate in a way?). Teaches medicine at Sinbad’s College for Eldritchicians. When out and about he will wear gloves and a mask to hide the whole...being a Skeleton thing. Dr. Mercury Little: Same as the other Little’s his hair is Silver and he looks younger than Hermes Little. Miss Calista Flatwood: Archimedes Second in command for running the Fellows In Grey. Is the Flatwoods Monster.... Mister Ray Green: A little green Alien. Astro Cartographer. Teleportation technology? I don’t know. Just thought to have a little green man. One of the Fellows In Grey. Let’s see am I forgetting anyone...ah right. Rosemary: A Fairy, once Royal Retainer to King Alberich (who is now Alwin) V Eldritch. Corrupter of Words. A Member of Alyss’ Intelligentsia, Rosemary keeps his eye on the the goings ons of The Fae Courts since his Master has had to abdicate. Is ultimately Loyal to Alwin, but works for Alyss under Alwin’s orders. The expert on Fae among the Eldritchicians. The Nightcrawler Corp: A bunch of Fresno Nightcrawlers that act as Scouts and Recon and things. They are Archimedes’ Eyes and ears for all the goings ons of Cryptids and whatever else they’re asked to look into. They answer to Archimedes only or those who relay things from Archimedes. They communicate in a series of Whoops and Kicking. Only Archimedes and Alaire are fluent in their language. The Hide Behind Network/ Erebus Hyde: A Hide Behind was stalking Alaire once...only to get caught by Aldjoy (Alaire’s living Shadow). Alaire befriended the Creature, and gave it the Name Erebus Hyde. The Hide Behind Network is all Hide Behinds being in a sort of Hive Mind (A Hide Mind?) they are many....They are not Shadows as Alaire originally thought. But they are something...something Old...perhaps only younger then the Eldritch Fellows themselves. Certain Eldritchicians (Dr. Leeds, Horatio, Overseer Morgan and others) know when a Hidebehind is behind them, and they will be sure to make people who they’re giving messages to know they’re there. They all answer to the name Erebus Hyde...all address Alaire as Friend, (and Address all the other Fellows by that title)...others they’ll address by their relation to Alaire. Okay..I think that’s everyone! And in Trios to! Be sure to ask any questions about any of these Fellows you might have. Stuff subject to change. Make of this what you will. An instrument (or instruments?) for Albus...
Decided Albus should have an Instrument of some sort. Perhaps several. Trying to figure out what. Looked up Instruments that seemed Piratey or Nautical... You’ve got Fiddles, Tin Whistles, Fifes, Concertinas and apparently Mandolins? At present...I’m thinking a Hurdy Gurdy, The Spoons, and probably the Fiddle/Violin (A Zahn made masterpiece). Possibly also a Concertina? All I know is Albus’ music should accomplish a few things. Serve as an auditor beacon for lost souls. Soothe said spirits. Provide proper and acceptable accompaniment to The songs of Sirens (since Albus totally is friends with Sirens. Probably convinced a few to join the FoE). And of course lull to sleep certain leviathans that are better asleep. Hurdy Gurdy, Fiddle, Concertina, and the Spoons for certain. Make of this what you will. A Dramatis Personae of sorts for all the thought of Eldritchicians at Present.
Leadership. Arch Overseer Alyss V Eldridge. Overseer Sinbad( Cartographer of the Curious, Weird, and Eldritch). Overseer Morgan. Overseer Sophocles of Alexandria (Head Archivist). Overseer Cosmin (former Solomonar). Overseers Runa. Overseer Archimedes(A Mothman. Best friend of Alaire Vendel Eldritch) Alyss’ Intelligentsia: Charles Williams (Editor and ESPer Left hand to Alyss). Tomomi (a Kitsune and Alyss Right Hand. Childhood friend to Alyss) Rosemary (Fae. Loyal to Alwin V. Eldritch. Not a formal member of the FoE). Prioska Lakatos ( A Vampire. Clockwork enthusiast. On and off relationship with Albus Viggo Eldritch). Autolycus Adams. Ranger (think a mish mash of Halt O’Carrick and Aragorn) and either Shapeshifter like his namesake or merely a Werewolf. Not certain yet. Note. Those in Alyss’ Intelligentsia (with the exception of Rosemary) still do other Eldritchician things when not doing Intelligentsia stuff. Other Eldritchicians. Quincey J.J. Harker. Human, knowledgeable with Ghosts, Vampires, and the sorts of creatures which are of interest to Alaire (Cryptids). Lucius Abraham Harker. A Ghost. Technically not an actual Eldritchician but is just haunting his dummy of a Brother. Medusa. That Medusa. Excellent Archivist, and handler of Eldritch materials. Hates Algimantas Varius Eldritch. Ismene. Former Priestess of Athena and former Statue. Murdann. A Finwife from Orkney. Excellent Healer and handler of Eldritch Materials. Knows of Eldritch things in the Sea, Ghosts, and Folklore things that Alaire would know. Wife to Albus V Eldritch. Clarissa Williams. Psychic Detective. Occasionally takes on Intelligentsia work but only if absolutely necessary. Knows of Ghosts, Angels, And Wisdom. Walter, and Stansby Williams. Thought form duplicates of either Charles or Clarissa Williams (no one is sure which? And no one has bothered to remember). Horatio, aka Doctor Faustus. Received his nickname for having studied at Wittenberg. This Horatio is knowledgeable in Ghosts, Demons, Cryptids....and Old Shadows. One of the only Eldritchicians to decipher and seek to learn this subject from Alaire. Other ideas to follow as I’m thinking to have the Eldritchicians be set up in teams (or perhaps squads works better?) of Three. Only current Team thought up is The Harker Bros and Horatio. More to follow surely. If curious about any...feel free to ask questions and stuff. Or not. Tumblr will probably eat this and make it look all messy destroying my spacing limited though it is. Make of this what you will. Al, the Chronographing Cottager and Prince of Naming

Degrees of Secrecy and what the FoE actually does...
Figuring out what they do. Ician denoting a person skilled or concerned with a field or subject. In the case of the FoE they are skilled in and concerned with Eldritch Matters. Be it Ghosts, Witches, Eldritch horrors, Fae and Elves, Angels, Underwater civilizations, so on and so forth. The FoE either acting independently on matters that interest them, or depending on the Universe they may be hired out, commissioned, or called on to act free of charge (since most of any Funding the FoE needs is handled by Albus V Eldritch) to put their skill and show concern for things. In some places the FoE is publicly recognized and celebrated (like a Knight Order or something?) in other places they may just well be like the Men in Black in Matters which concern them (how and to what extent they mess with memories I’m not sure of as of yet), The FoE deals with that which concerns them in all manners of ways. Investigation is a given (they began as a group of people collecting knowledge for an Eldritch Entity (The Eldritch Fellow Alvis Vadim Eldritch). They’ll first Contact with Eldritch beings if they’re new Acting as Diplomats (especially with Elves). Assisting Ghosts in moving on. Rescuing people.... The FoE only destroys Eldritch beings (Vampires, Elder Gods, etc) if it is absolutely necessary and said beings prove themselves to be a threat. Like if you have a Vampire being Villainous and taking over the world or what have you...The FoE handles that through elimination. (Should be noted the FoE probably does include some Vampires and such things in its membership). FoE will also retrieve Magical and Eldritch artifacts (like Indiana Jones in a way) if said artifact is deemed to be something the FoE (or a Certain Fellow associated with the FoE) might have a use for.. Don’t know if there’s any organizations or groups that are particularly hostile towards them...possibly? I’ve now lost my trains of thought. Make of this what you will. I would very much be interested in your ocs
Very well.
Let me preface that a lot of these Fellows came to mind after I reached the thought of ‘hey, what if I took how people joke about me being some Eldritch entity that existed before time, space, and the universe, and ran with that? So some of these guys are more self inserty than others. All the fellows I’m about to mention are close to being the same person..or to put it a better way...they are existential echoes or perhaps facets of a greater Eldritch entity...with all of them sort of galavanting about existence, across universes and things.
One OC has some connection to the OCs of @lint-roll with their permission and following their suggestion...and I’ve been badgering them about these fellows for like a week or more.
One last bit of backstory before going into The OCs Proper if you’ll allow. Long ago one of these fellows took the Name of Alaric( meaning Ruler of All) and made himself a King with a Crown, Silvery Robes, and a Flaming Sword...he ruled over a whole world...there was an uprising and Alaric was slain. In response to the killing of their Fellow the rest of the ‘Als’ rained Eldritch vengeance on the world over which Alaric ruled. There were some survivors..but more on that later. With that said..and poorly explained I imagine..on to the OCs in question.
Algimantus Varius Eldritch: A strange fellow. Tallish, clean shaven. His signature outfit is Grey pants, Ultramarine suspenders, a salt white shirt, a Vibrant Green Long Coat (imagine Fagin’s Coat from Oliver! Or Nepeta’s Coat from that Homestuck thing), a Bowler hat, and Circular glasses of an Amber color. And of course a finely made Cane (because just about every character of mine must have the aesthetic of Cane, Coat, and Hat) Algimantus is generally polite, if a bit eccentric, and at times purposefully ignores context clues of conversations if he thinks some fun can be had with the words (even if he’s the only one who finds it funny). He looks human to be sure...but there are times...such as when he smiles a certain sort of smile, and his eyes take on a friendly glare that his Eldritch nature is glimpsed. He is a procurer, purveyor, trader, and occasional maker of Items of Mystical, Magical, Occult, and a generally Eldritch nature. He tends to cary his wares in one of those huge salesman suitcases (like in the Music Man) which reads ‘‘Eldritch’s Emporium of all things Eldritch). He has also been known to hold things in his hat. He is fond of showing off his wares, be it an ever changing set of magical rings, or a Phoenix feather Quill (perfect for writing secret messages) in his Hat. His merchandise is sold for either ludicrous amounts of money, traded for something of interest, or sold for something less material (for example a coat of perfect stealth in exchange for a person’s whisper).
The bit of merchandise he is most proud of though is his Pen Dragons. Beautifully crafted pens that turn into little Dragons. He always has his own Pen Dragon (One Estragon Alaric Pen Dragon, called Alaric) with him. A beautiful thing of Silver.
Pen Dragons: a note on Pen Dragons. They are made, not by binding the soul of a Dragon to a Pen as you’d imagine but rather a process is performed which results in the Existential echo of a Dragon, The Dragonness left in a place where a Dragon has been for a long time, and that Dragonness manifests in the Pen York become a Pen Dragon. Alaric as an example of Pen Dragonness is primarily used for writing is an avid book Wyrm. He will collect words and bits of info like his own hoard. Alaric is also very jealous of Algimantus’ Phoenix Quill and takes every opportunity available to get rid of it.
At one point Algimantus learns of a circus performer who has managed to make Pen Dragons of her own. Algimantus has searched for this person since the means of Manifesting Existential echoes is a skill he invented and only ever shared with his Fellows. He hopes to make this person a Potential Apprentice of sorts.
Pen Aluni : The Potential Apprentice in question. Has some skill in enchantment, and drawing. Foundling of a circus where she participated in a Magic act. One day after a show involving a Dragon Skeleton she suddenly has a bunch of Pencils turning into little dragons running amok..only for them to be subdued by a silver small dragon...and to top it off some weirdo in a green Coat has shown up offering her an Apprenticeship for reasons.... I don’t know much about her character yet at present. Apologies. Her last name (meaning student ) was thought up by Algimantus. Turns out she is a survivor of the Kingdom of Alaric...
On to other Als.
Alan V Eldritch: This short fellow is prone to gambling of all sorts. Wears an Ultramarine Coat, brown corduroys, and a dull red shirt. Bowler, and a cane suited for whacking and keeping people at bay. He is commonly found conning people with that shell game thing. He is perhaps the most intentionally cruel of his fellows and takes great enjoyment in the minor and major sufferings of existence, humanity in particular. He and Algimantus do not get along exceptionally well. He has an attempt at a goatee which he swears makes him look Puckish.
Algernon V. Eldritch: Imagine a Circus Ring Master. Leave him bald, and give him a obviously fake and ludicrous mustache. Make him a bit heavier around the middle than most of his fellows and you have Algernon. He has continually tried to entertain people...and has continually failed for one reason or another. Before starting a Circus his business was that of a Fool and Gesture with the mannerisms of said profession never really leaving. Meaning he will not shut up and speak his mind no matter who its to. More so than the rest of his fellows.
Alfur and Aldread: ‘the Twins’ these two have continually set up shop as royal advisors of opposing kingdoms and have treated the wars of said kingdoms as a personal game between them. Alfur is notable for having straight hair, and wizardly robes and staff. Aldread is more of a John Dee inspired Alchemist Spy advisor. The two look practically identical save the one dresses in Blue, the other Orange. Not sure which is which.
Alfwin V Eldritch: Alfwin is the one among his fellows who has the most knowledge and closest friendship with the Elves (anywhere). Don’t know what his colors are. But I know the Elves know him, and his fellows collectively as ‘‘The Eldritch One’.
Albus Viggo Eldritch: Albus stands out with pale skin white hair and all black ensemble including Greek Fisherman’s Cap and a Peacoat. Albus’ Cane is a Cane Sword with a Kraken looking Handle. He also has Rapier about his person. Albus manages a number of Lighthouses and offers shelter and housing to the Spirits of those who die at Sea. He will often sing with his ghostly house guests, and they will usually follow him when he leaves his Light Houses for elsewhere. He has a huge Sailing Ship called the Alexandria, and has some control over the Weather able to make Zora dissipate Tempests and the like. Albus is perhaps the kindest of his fellows and is not one for Cruelty unless truly deserved. Also, I’m am told due to his pale complexion and habit of sword fighting ghosts he is sexy. The Ghosts all call him ‘Captain Jones’ with the earliest having mistaken him for Davy Jones and it just stuck. Albus is the most open about feeling horribly guilty for his part in the destruction of Alaric’s Kingdom. He made sure to ferry what survivors he could away from the Vengeance of his Fellows.
Alvis V Eldritch: Alvis is Grey. His clothes, his attire, his pet Owl, all Grey, everything save his skin (and he did try that for a while). Alvis, while not necessarily the oldest of his Fellows, has made the conscious decision to look Old. He walks with a wooden Staff, and has a large book with him at all times. He is the only one of his fellows to keep track and tabs on all the others. The rest usually go about their business meeting up on occasion. Alvis’ own business is a book store. He had played with the idea of a Library...but decided on a bookstore for one reason or another. His Bookstore can be found in many places. Almost anywhere, though you’re unlikely to meet him there. He often will sleep in the back, or reading and will often have some hired help manage things. Only getting him if someone wishes to buy from the more Eldritch sections. That knowledge costs knowledge and the knowledge given is lost forever to the buyer. As is the knowledge of having lost it. Alvis is the All Wise, he knows near everything. He and one other fellow are closest in true Eldritch nature to that Fellow of which they are mere aspects, echoes, and facets. He is not unkind, nor kind, he can be helpful but he doesn’t talk too often. All the other fellows show proper respect to Alvis. He does not know the Future...but if a thing is known..Alvis no doubt knows it. He keeps a Pen Dragon which Algimantus gave him..and a Pet Owl. No one is sure where the Owl came from. It might have just flown in one day and Alvis decided to keep it. No one is mean to Alvis’s Owl. Alvis will give info to his fellows if he thinks it will help..and he can keep Secrets. He and Albus instantly recognize Pen for what she is.
Lastly there is Alastor. When Alaric was slain the Fellow felt it as a searing pain. In retaliation he had all the fellows fall down upon the Kingdoms of Alaric and destroy it and everyone who played a part in the slaying of Alaric. Alastor, dressed in rags, not bothering with a face, and only barely attempting anything close to a human guise is the remaining vengeance personified. Alastor does not smile, nor laugh. He does not run, nor take interest in the Eldritch peculiarities of existence as his Fellows do. Alastor only searches for those who showed they could hurt him...and eliminate them with the same sword of Alaric’s which proved to be his undoing.
So...there’s all that.
Hope that’s sufficient. There will be more of course. I am writing/planning the writing of a thing which should show Algimantus making little Alaric the Pen Dragon.
Make of this what you will.

Weapons, Metals, and Items used by the FoE.
Grey Adamant blades. Standard weapon for defensive and offensive purposes. Chosen for its durability, sharpness, and also just because it’s grey and it fits the Arch Overseer’s Aesthetic. Every Eldritchician (barring some exceptions like Medusa, Overseer Archimedes, Intelligencers Rosemary and Charles Williams) usually has their Adamant arms on their person. Eldritch Spectacles/Spectracles: Special Eyeglasses every Eldritchician is given. Meant to protect their sight from things that might harm themselves or their minds. Also allows them to see things that aren’t normally able to be seen. Have been known to give ESPers and those who can already just see Ghosts awful Headaches. These eyeglasses are usually the Rounded colored lens sort but not always. Also come as Goggles if that’s more your style. Damascus Steel blades: Overseer Sinbad knows the secrets of Damascus Steel, his own Weapon (rarely used) being made of it, as is the Symbol for his study of Eldritch Cartography, The Damascene Compass Rose. On occasion or request he will make Damascene blades (or have others do so) as an Alternative to the Standard Grey Adamant. Cold Iron: To ward of Faeries and protect them. Rosemary is odd in that he keep a Cold Iron Dagger on his person while being a Faerie of some sort. Also good against ghosts, keeping them at bay(stings them). Cold Iron is usually the basis for making Cthonic Iron. Vampire/Werewolf Spear: Offensive weapon the original being made for Overseer Morgan Maddox by the Eldritch Fellow Albus Viggo Eldritch. Made up of all the things that can harm Vampires and Werewolves. Like a Boar Spear in that it is meant to keep the Werewolf or Vampire from charging down the Spear to get at the wielder. There are many Vampire spears made...but most are kept in storage and not openly displayed (especially since several Eldritchicians are Vampires and Werewolves respectively). Overseer Morgan though always the original Vampire Spear with in reach or in hand. Bespoken Bodkins/ Shaded Daggers: A specialty weapon only made for a select few who learn from Alaire V Eldritch. Also known as a Carnwennanian Dagger, these are modeled after Arthur’s Dagger Carnwennan and like Carmwennan is very powerful and meant to let the user hide and blend in with Shadows. The Shading comes from the layers (shading) of the user’s own Shadow. Among those who hold These Bespoked Bodkins are Arch Overseer Alyss, Overseer Morgan, ‘Dr. Faustus’, and some others who I forget at present (Huld I think?) Cthonic Metal: Used to do harm to ghosts (usually as a last resort). It is metal that is ‘Killed’ and the spirit of which is used to make the Cthonic Metal. Used in Swords, Daggers, but also Bullets (for only up to Flintlock sorts or earlier). Usually made with already Cold Iron, Meteoritic Iron, and Silver. Silver itself already good for Vampires and Werewolves, but the Cthonic Iron is so that it sticks with the ghost and not merely pass through them. Those who have Cthonic Metal with them include ‘Dr. Faustus’ Quincey Harker, Yorick Johnson, and a few others whose names escape me and others who aren’t named or anything. One last Metal to mention is Orichalcum. Orichalcum is usually a ‘do whatever you want’ sort of thing from what I can gather. Known for being with Atlantis and Aphrodite apparently had Orichalcum Jewelry? Orichalcum is occasionally made into actual weapons on its own...but more often than not it is added to things or used as Jewelry to hold very powerful items. Orichalcum for my purposes will be a booster of sorts, meant to enhance already present magical or mystical properties in a Thing or Person. May also grant a Person abilities and qualities associated with said things. Two examples include the Zodiac Rings made by Algimantas Varrius Eldritch. And another is A Ring made of Orichalcum for Arch Overseer Alyss Violet Eldridge. Hesperidian/ Idunic/ Edenen Cider: Cider made by Algimantas Varius Eldritch and used sparingly with each Eldritchician having a Vial of Hesperidian Cider on Hand (more if they’re Medically focused). Meant to save the life of a dying person...but only if they’re on death’s door! No other time. If they die...well better hope someone is on the way with Gorgonian Blood. Gorgonian Blood: Blood from a Gorgon. Depending on the side it is either a lethal poison (Left side) or something that cures all wounds illness and cure death. Only the Preternatural Intelligentsia have anything with Gorgonian blood from the left side. Phoenix Quills and Fire Kits: Usually just for messages between The Arch Overseer, the other Overseers and the Preternatural Intelligentsia. Phoenix Quills are Writing Quills whose messages can only be read when set on fire. Any fire won’t always work. Regular fire only works for Red Fire, written with a Red Phoenix Quill. From Experimenting by Algimantas, Alyss has a collection of Quills of all the colors of the rainbow and the color of the seal used generally indicates the nature of the message. There are also messages to be read through Rainbow Fire and Grey Fire (from Alyss’ Phoenixes Iris and Faythe respectively)...but those are rare and for certain things. Zodiac Rings: Not sure if I’ll include these with the FoE, but I’l mention them anyway. Made from certain Metals and Gems that with some added Orichalcum allow the user to control the element associated with their Zodiac thing. For example a person who is a Leo would have a Ring made from Gold, Orichalcum and set with Peridot. This would give them control over Fire and stuff. Likely not in wide spread use. Might be determined on if a person holds with Astrology and what not to start with? We’ll see. Edit! Forgot something! The FoE has...some kind of Communication device. But I Haven’t figured out a name yet. Just calling it a Communicator is boring... A Device that works as a Compass/ locator of Eldritch presences (Ghosts/Demons/etc) have also yet to think of a name. Some Translation Aid: to get over Language barriers they FoE has various methods to learning many new languages. Some involve taking the time to learn a bunch of languages, others take quicker routes like blood of mythical beings and things (with said beings permission mind you). Also have a Technological device developed by Extraterrestrial Eldritchician Mr. Ranswell (I’ve forgotten his first name just now). Make of this what you will. Alvis, Algimantus, Albus, and their association with the Fellowship of Eldritchicians.
So....if you’ll bear with me...here’s a bunch of thoughts relating to an organization with a dumb name I thought up. So...a bit ago I was thinking of how to collectively address the group of entities which include the likes of Algimantus V. Eldritch, Alvis V. Eldritch, Albus...and a bunch of other individuals all sharing the initials/names Al V. Eldritch because. Thought on The Fellowship because it sounds cool. I then remembered the perhaps dumb name of Eldritchicians (which if I recall correctly I thought up to be a Fanfic based splinter group of Verne’s Mystorians from CotIG) and thought, ‘the Fellowship of Eldritchicians sounds cool! Oh they could be the F.o.E for short!’. On further thought the dumb/cool word of Eldritchicians (meant to mean a person with expertise, knowledge, and practice of stuff...in this case stuff of an Otherworldly, weird, strange, and generally Eldritch nature) didn’t fit all the Fellows exactly since while they’re all experts in their respective interests (most of which are somewhat Eldritch reflecting their own nature) the word...and the name of the group sounds too...organized I supposed? Since they all generally for the most part do their own thing? But the name of the F.o.E still sounded cool so I pondered what to do with it. Here’s what I thought to do with it. So after everything went down with Alaric (in short: One of the Fellows decided to be a God King, got killed, and the rest of his Fellows such as Algimantus, Alastor, etc...all converged on Alaric’s Kingdoms destroying nearly all of it in retaliation or whatever the right word is), Alvis (Grey outfited dude who runs a book shop and is always half asleep)changed his business from keeping track of the various and varied strange and eldritch happenings across existence (because of course multiverses are a thing) to instead primarily keeping track of the comings and goings of his Fellows. Just to be sure none of them try the whole ‘become a king and potentially get myself killed’ thing. At some point Alvis was getting a bit annoyed with this choice...but couldn’t really go back on it. So he had a shop assistant/Apprentice of his (the people who tend to actually run the place while Alvis is half asleep in the back) go a look into an eldritch happening that seemed interesting. Said Apprentice did so...and thought the thing in question seemed like kind of a big deal and asked Alvis if anything should be done about it. Alvis...generally more concerned with the information of the thing and not so much its threat to humanity or whatever, just shrugged and told his Apprentice to knock themselves out. Said Apprentice defeated the thing..and other Apprentices ended up doing similarly (while still getting the knowledge and info Alvis wanted). One Apprentice, when asked about why they defeated said thing answered it was the business of The Fellowship. At this utterance Alvis scrambled to make sure the Fellowship in question didn’t directly and more importantly lead back to him...so had his various Apprentices who did these amazing things and feats form an official organization. Alvis thinking up ‘Eldritchicians’ just cause. From there the FoE ended up somehow becoming a legitimate (if somewhat secret depending on the universe) organization of sorts? I have no idea about the leadership except that technically speaking Alvis’ word holds the most since they are technically still acting out his business. Although the Fellowships goals are generally, the Observance of, study of, occasional confinscation of, aiding of, recording of, and on occasion destruction of things of an Eldritch nature (excluding Alvis and his Fellows). Or something like that. The only others of Alvis’ Eldritch Fellowship to associate with the FoE is Algimantus and Albus. Algimantus (a traveling purveyor, maker, trader, and other things Magical, Mystical, Supernatural, and yes Eldritch items. Usually selling them for unique prices) associates with them for two reasons. He basically is the one to provide the FoE all its varied gear. Weapons, magic rings, uniform identification stuff (more on that later) you name it he’s the guy to get it. He’s basically the FoE own Q I suppose? He also occasionally aids in scouting and recruitment of people for the FoE. Mind you, he helps the FoE mainly because any and all stuff the collect or confiscate technically belongs to him as the owning, storage, and use of such things fall more under his business then Alvis’ He isn’t always ultimately in it for stuff mind you. But that’s another matter. Albus’ (Pale dude in a Peacoat and Mariners cap who manages several inter dimensional lighthouses, sword fights, and hangs out with a bunch of ghost sailors and pirates he picked up from ghost ships and stuff)?reasons for helping are just as simple. For one, he thinks the FoE actually helping people is awesome and so offers what help he can. This help is generally accomplished by funding it with undersea treasure (the deep unknowns of Oceans are more his wheel house than Algimantus’), provides almost the entirety of the FoE’s supply of Orichalcum (that metal from Atlantis or something), which is one of four metals the FoE makes frequent use of. He also helps in teaching sword fighting occasionally, and personally takes under his wing (as he’s able at least) anyone in the FoE who shows an interest or skill in matters concerning ghosts (with some Eldritchicians probably being ghosts). Actually on that note...I suppose I should note the membership of the Fellowship varies? Like you’ve got regular humans in the vein of....I guess Van Hellsing? Ghosts, Magical individuals, non human individuals probably....and also Medusa. Yes, the Medusa. Or I suppose a Medusa? In any case she’s a part of the FoE. There are other thoughts concerning the FoE...like standard equipment they have, a few ideas for members...blah blah blah. But I think this is enough at present. If anyone is interested in hearing more..feel free to say so, or ask, or what have you. I do apologize if this seems like a rambling mess of dumb ideas...but ah well. Make of this what you will. Al, the Chronographing Cottager and Prince of Naming.

Scattered thoughts concerning a new character thing
Atlas Weyland Elric
Basically a Frankenstein monster sort of creature created through the combined efforts of Algimantas Varius Eldritch, Albus Viggo Eldritch, and Aldread V Eldritch after Algimantas read Frankenstein when it originally came out.
Albus only agreed if they all agreed to take some part in caring for and educating Atlas. Atlas' first and second name were agreed upon by the three Fellows.
Albus was the most caring and is the one of the three to actually consider Atlas his son (reason why he has the name Elric. Eldritch would not be entirely accurate, Eldridge as Alyss was named was uncertain so they went with Elric).
Atlas is almost always in the company of Albus alongside the ghosts that regularly escort the Eldritch Fellow.
Atlas knows: Alchemy, Ghosts and various Undead, Angels, Magical Items(though can only make magical weapons), Sword making, Cartography, Poetry (huge fan of the Romantics), Seamanship (a qualified Sailing Master). Plays the Concertina and has a melodious Baritone (I think Baritone is the word? However you describe Stan Rogers' voice). He also paints landscapes and portraits of people
Atlas worked for the Fellowship of Eldritchicians for a time, probably attended Archimago or Suleyman Academy. Was probably on a Trio with Quincey Johnathan Harker...but almost immediately retired to accompany and live with Albus.
Probably attended Dreadrock University for a time, before dropping out halfway through?
I should probably note like Frankenstein of the book (the Creature I mean) Atlas is about 8 feet tall (Albus somewhere around seven feet). he's Wide shouldered, freakishly strong with haunting eyes.
Eyes are something of either a Ethereal ghostly pale blue, electric blue, golden. Actually, lets have it be a mismatched pair of Amber and Blue eyes.? Wears spectacles (most likely because he needs them?)
Hair long and Black witch shocks of Gold and Silver.
Unlike his Creators' very extra wardrobes, Atlas usually just wears a Peacoat and a Marineers/Greek Sailors Cap. He does have a Lighthouse Brooch (Pin?) on the lap of his Coat though.
Probably knows several languages but I'm not certain which ones yet.
Participates when Albus has his War Games with Queen Gloriana
On the cartography thing, regularly visits Archimago Academy and Avalon to keep up to date maps on the constantly changing Landscapes of Faerie and Elfphame.
Is on generally good terms with his creators. As well as his various siblings and cousins (for lack of a better word). On best terms with Alyss(sorta cousin?), Queen Gloriana of Avalon(cousin?), and a handful of the Kleinmann family (cousins/siblings?) most likely Alruna, Panacea, Hermes, Phanos, and Albedo? Basically all the FoE aligned Kleinmann's. On shakier terms with the Kleinmans on staff at Dreadrock.
So yeah...there's that.
Make of this what you will.
