#Akari has a few other Pokémon that she keeps with her too

A long, long time ago I got asked about Akari’s pokemon team. I had answered it, but since then I’ve changed a lot of the Pokémon on her team, and wanted to make a proper post for it ^^
@tjs-stuffs has put in lots of thought and meaning into their own pokemon teams for their AUs, as well as analyze NPCs’ pokemon teams to see what it says about their trainers, and I thought that was really cool so I wanted to try that too when reconstructing Akari’s team!
long analyzation about each member below!
—————
EMBER ♀ | LVL 48 QUILAVA
HARDY NATURE
Akari’s starter Pokémon. I thought a fire-type would work well with an outgoing personality, and it would be a useful starter to have in the wild — makes camping easier with usefulness in cooking and staying warm.
And with Hisuian Typhlosion’s entries saying it’s speculated to guide lost souls, I believe it’s especially fitting for Akari since she was put there to really help out a very lost Jubilife Village and show them Pokémon aren’t creatures to be afraid of. And in my stories especially, I frequently stress that Akari is “guiding” Ingo out of this lost, empty state and will eventually be the reason why he gets back home.
—————
KITE ♂ | LVL 36 DRIFLOON
IMPISH NATURE
Akari caught this Pokémon out in the fieldlands while doing her initial trial for Cyllene.
Lots of drifloon and drifblim’s entries talk about the Pokémon’s relation to lost people, more frequently children. And how with those who go missing, no one knows where they went. Sometimes also relates to lost souls. Akari is certainly a “lost soul” who was plucked suddenly from her time, and no one knows what happened to her or where she went.
—————
JELLY ♀ | LVL 41 MANTYKE
JOLLY NATURE
Akari caught this Pokémon in the coastlands when she saw she couldn’t avoid swimming anymore, and needed help as someone who couldn’t swim.
Mantyke is one of the very few pokemon (if not the only one, IIRC) who evolves through a symbiotic relationship with another Pokémon, remoraid. I thought it would attribute well to Akari, since so much of what she’s doing in Hisui is based on symbiotic relationships.
She is doing what Arceus asked of her, and in return Arceus assists her where it can. She stays in Jubilife Village, but only if she does hard work and is helpful to Kamado and the Galaxy Team in return.
And in my fics especially, her and Ingo have a symbiotic relationship, both helping the other out in many ways (that are emotionally healthier and less forced than what she’s got with Arceus and the Galaxy Team).
—————
TRINKET ♀ | LVL 39 CHINGLING
CAREFUL NATURE
Akari caught this Pokémon in the highlands when she spotted its unusual and pretty colors.
Chingling are said to be based off Suzu bells, which can be used for Shinto Shrines — worshipping places for various deities, and were around in Japan during the Meiji Era.
As someone doing what was asked of them by Arceus, a diety that is greatly respected and revered in the region (although they’re largely unknown to be what everyone calls Almighty Sinnoh until the end of the story), I thought it would be a good fit for Akari.
—————
FREIGHT ♂ | LVL 40 SHIELDON
BRAVE NATURE
Akari caught this Pokémon within a space-time distortion in the highlands. She asked Ingo to help her name this one.
Shieldon and Bastiodon are described to be very strong Pókemon, yet they prefer avoiding conflict — they’re also impenetrable with their hard heads, but are weak to attacks from behind. And as ancient Pokémon from the past, the ones that show up in Hisui are obviously displaced.
I think a lot of these fit Akari well. She’s also very formidable in battle but isn’t really someone who often goes looking for fights (in the aggressive sense, at least). The sturdy face but weaker backside also seems to fit how I write Akari; she puts on a tough “I’m fine” front a lot, even if she’s not, and is sometimes reluctant to share her struggles. And finally, the most obvious — she’s just as displaced as these fossil Pokémon.
—————
POM-POM ♂ | LVL 45 RUFFLET
LONELY NATURE
Akari caught this Pokémon in the icelands (specifically during the events of HFBE, she finds it without its parents).
Many of Rufflet’s dex entries describe it as Pokémon that will fight stronger opponents more out of recklessness than bravery, and Braviary’s dex entries describe it as a Pokémon that will bravely fight for its friends to protect them, even if they themselves are hurt.
I felt like this fit how I write Akari pretty well. Sometimes she’s reckless, yes, but she will take on whatever comes after herself or her friends, and will keep pushing. (Such as frequently claiming to fight Arceus to get Ingo home with her if she has to — she will follow through with this if she must!!)
#I’ve had a lot of fun thinking about Akari’s team and giving each one meaning and relation to Akari#I would have put Akari’s pre-Hisui team on here too but I felt like that would have been too long#another post for another day!!#Akari has a few other Pokémon that she keeps with her too#but they’re not really her ‘team’ pokemon#they stay in the pasture (swinub) or in her housing unit (rotom) or can’t officially be caught (Powder#one of Sneasler’s kits)#I’ve been doing a run with these Pokémon on PLA too#but I had to stop when my hand got worse#I hope to continue it soon!!

What was the big ‘Oh I’m in love with this person’ moment? For both sides of the equation.
Since there are so many pairings within Sisterhood, I'll simply select three in particular for this response:
🤎Conflictingshipping🤎
It's rather difficult to pinpoint exactly when the realization occurred, but Leaf has loved Green for a very long time - ever since they were children dreaming of travel.
He was a different boy back then, or rather he was far less obnoxious. Dare I say perhaps sweet? He gave Leaf all his time, attention, and an assortment of promises he intended to keep.
Green vowed that, once the two of them received their first partner Pokémon, they would journey across Kanto together, and someday the world, as husband and wife.
Unfortunately, his ego grew to a detrimental degree sometime after reaching his teens, and Green doesn't realize he loves Leaf until he's lost her. It requires a great deal of apology and pleading to convince Leaf to leave Mt. Silver.
Once she's returned to his life, Green makes every effort to amend for his previous behavior and broken promises. When a mysterious map falls into their possession, perhaps this will be the adventure the two can finally embark on together as partners.
🤎HoennChampionshipping🤎
Steven develops feelings for Haruka and recognizes them relatively swiftly. He's far too polite to ever complain outwardly on the matter, but he's become accustomed to women fawning over him because of his wealth, status, and attractive appearance.
However, Haruka is different. When in her company, he isn't heir to the Devon Corporation, the Hoenn League Champion, and the region's most eligible bachelor. He's simply Steven, the young man with an interest in collecting stones.
It takes Haruka a while longer to fall for this stunning male specimen. Their relationship is rather platonic from her point of view, as she manages to frequently misinterpret his various attempts at making his affections known. Steven suddenly traveling to another region without giving her the opportunity to say goodbye following the Delta Episode does not do him any favors.
He also refrains from calling her during this time since he fears her reaction to his letter, earning appalled ones from Wallace and Lisia. With their assistance, he learns how best to reconcile with Haruka. And it takes a little more than a Poké Doll or a few.
Steven offers to go on an adventure with her, to investigate the undersea ruins past Pacifidlog Town. When he proves to her this isn't simply a gesture to pacify her frustration but an activity he's enjoying alongside her, Haruka finally begins to see what's so special about Hoenn's silver-haired dreamboat, Steven Stone.
🤎Wieldershipping🤎
From the first meeting, Volo knows he loves Akari. Anyone who would wish to remove all suffering from the world must be at least somewhat of a romantic. But his justification for these abrupt feelings is possibly surprisingly poignant: If Akari is hated for no discernible reason, why can he not love?
However, her first impression does leave a strong impact. From the way her head remains held high in defiance even when surrounded by the whispers of the villagers to her pleasantly plump figure, she captures Volo's intrigue and his heart. Then as the two of them speak, that sharp gaze of hers softens ever so slightly.
Akari also acquires his Togepi's attention. She hides her face against his chest when in the presence of others, but Akari's aura coaxes the Spike Ball Pokémon to turn around in her Wielder's arms. Were Volo not already awed, he certainly would be following this feat.
It takes Akari considerably longer to return his affections. Nearly no one, and not excluding Volo himself, believes she could do so after what occurs on Mount Coronet's summit. But Volo experiences an epiphany: Akari is the greatest force of good he's ever encountered, and by dedicating his life to her happiness, he can aid in the creation of a better, kinder world.
Volo's sentiments towards Arceus have shifted to indifference and his devotion to her runs deeper. With persistence, Volo leaves little room for doubt in Akari's mind the tender moments they shared prior to his betrayal weren't mere fabrications.
She's eventually forced to acknowledge that, due to them originating from different time periods, Akari may have been in denial of her own feelings of fondness all along.

ABANDONED WIP WEDNESDAY
Context for this one: Another Dad!Ingo fic that didn't pan out. Written quite early on, probably right after Touch of Love. Was supposed to focus on an adult researcher Akari from earth who got turned into a child and was given the ability to understand everyone but not speak the language. Ingo meets her and teaches her sign. (You can see that I repurposed this idea for Feral in Hisui)
This is just the prologue so Ingo isn't here yet unfortunately. Bummer.
No one understands Akari (Maybe Ingo can fix that)

Volo had made a ****ing mess. Honestly, arceus looks away for one second and next thing it knows someone has cracked a hole in the sky. Go figure. It hoped that the problem would fix itself, that one of its children or the people of the land would shape up and fix the freaking sky hole that loomed over its temple. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. The hole quickly went from an inconvenience to a problem when things started falling through it. Small things Arceus could excuse, (some bathroom slippers, a microwave, half of a billboard that thankfully fell into the ocean) but when a *person* fell through, it knew that this was a problem that needed divine intervention.
And so it was time to find a chosen.
If Arceus was going to do this, it might as well go all the way. Honestly, Volo’s shenanigans had pushed Hisui’s Pokémon/human cohabitation back a few decades. Arceus claimed to be unbiased but hisui was definitely its favorite region, and having it lag behind its peers in development because of one (1) stupid fanatic, well, it really grinded arceus’s gears. So okay, Arceus needed someone to fix the hole in the sky AND make the locals more friendly with the local wildlife. Now how to do that? Consulting with the other legendaries of its realm (as well as a couple of other arceus’s of other realms), the best solution it came up with was a Pokédex. Hard to fear what you understand you know? Thankfully, a Pokédex was already underway, an effort spearheaded by those outsiders that recently invaded. Unfortunately, the outsiders are stupid and even more afraid of Pokémon then Aceus’s own people (and that was saying something) They were getting nowhere fast and certainly didn’t have the skills required to fix the sky. The man from the future probably could, but while Arceus wasn’t paying attention he had already settled with the pearl clan and become a warden to one of it’s blessed nobles. Besides, he was weird and intimidating, and no one would find comfort in his constant scowl and train metaphors. So! Arceus would need to bring in a chosen from outside its realm. Unfortunately, that was easier said then done, and Arceus was finding that a perfect human might be impossible to locate. So Arceus would make its own. First, the body. Children always made for good chosens, they were easily underestimated and had vigor and energy that an adult simply couldn’t keep up with. It needed to not stick out too much, an appearance that could match any child of the era. Of course, it needed to be quite sturdy as well, a hole in the sky is not an easy fix after all! Next was the soul, probably the hardest part. Arceus could try to make one from scratch, but that was a pain and it would have no idea if it made a good one until the soul had run around for a couple of human years. Time was of no consequence to Arceus, but it was very important to its people. So Arceus would have to steal a soul. It wanted a curious one, one with the nack for research and a loving heart. They couldn’t be afraid of Pokémon, but they also couldn’t be used to them. Pokémon needed to be an enigma that the soul would be desperate to solve. So Arceus searched through other worlds, snatching the soul of a dying girl on her last breath. A biology student, one who loved animals and had a tendency to solve problems that no one asked her too. She was a liiiiiitle too old, (nearly 24) but didn’t all humans want to be younger? She probably wouldn’t mind losing a couple years.
Gently placing the soul in the newly formed body, Arceus found that there were still a few snags in its plans. First off, it seemed that the new soul was not happy to lose a few years and was also demanding to be sent back to the lousy world Arceus had stolen her from. That wouldn’t do. Taking a page from the accidental skyfaller, Arceus wiped a good chunk of her memories. It left the important stuff; science, math, basic life skills, but any personal memories were deemed unimportant and were deleted from existence. Speaking of basic life skills, her native language would be useless now. Feeling quite generous, Arceus granted her the ability to understand all languages as if they were her own. It briefly considered granting her the ability to speak said languages but ended up dismissing that thought. It wanted to speed up progress, not skip years of scientific discovery because the biology student wanted electric lights. And so with a couple more skills (good aim, excellent reflexes, etc) and a communication device/map that arceus could send instructions through, Arceus gently deposited its chosen onto the land of hisui.
And that was how Akari’s tumultuous life of bottled words began.

Forget Me Not
Ingo lead Akari through one of the many valleys found in the Highlands. It was one of the more safer routes. An easy to follow path had been well worn into the ground from the foot traffic this area saw from the clans and the merchants. The only pokémon around were starlys chirping busily in the trees and the occasional shinx or bidoof.
Akari eyed Ingo curiously. While she was prone to asking a million questions a minute while in the presence of Ingo but she was noticeably quieter this time. “What's this 'rare herb' you wanted me to help you find?”
Ingo kept his eyes forward as he walked. “I'll explain more when we reach our destination.”
“Is someone sick? Are you sick? Ingo--?”
“Everyone is well, I assure you.” Ingo answered quickly to douse the flames of panic he could hear rising within her. “I promise. More will be revealed shortly.”
Any other time, Akari would press more. Ingo would have his companion running circles around him trying to pry information from him. The little mind games she would play to get him to slip up and say too much. It amused Ingo to no end. A small amount of worry swirled within him at Akari's silence.
It didn't take long for the duo to reach a small clearing. Akari's eyes widened at the flowers that covered the area. Ingo smiled. “I found this spot not too long ago. I thought you might like it.”
“Ingo?” Akari cocked her head at him. “Is this where the herb is?”
“No... Not exactly...” Ingo cleared his throat and fussed with his hat. “I must admit I may have... fibbed... a bit.”
Akari turned to him and put her hands on her hips. A look of mock shock and disappointment was on her face. “Ingo!”
“I-I apologize!” Ingo stammered. “I could not help but notice that the Galaxy Team has been giving you far more tasks than usual. I was worried.” He pulled off his hat and ran his fingers through his thinning hairline. “I made up the story about needing a rare herb so I could bring you here to take a break. It seemed like you very much needed to rest your engines.”
Akari sighed. “Yeah... They have been giving me more to do. Rei twisted his ankle so I've been taking on his tasks too.” She smiled. “Thanks Ingo. I really appreciate this.”
She looked over the flowers. There were many hues of blue, red, yellow, and pink with white scattered in between. The air smelled incredibly sweet. Akari knelt to inspect the blooms.
“I should gather some to take back to Rei. He's been miserable cooped up in his cabin. I wonder what color he would like.”
Ingo knelt beside her with his hat in his lap. “I'm sure he'd appreciate any colors you bring him. The smell more than makes up for any disliked colors.” He picked a flower and put it up to his nose. “I'm rather surprised combee do not convene here.”
Ingo looked over to find Akari not listening in the least. She was studying a handful of flowers silently. “Miss Akari? Are you alright?”
Akari nodded. “I... I remember... someone used to bring me flowers when I was sick. Back home...” She twirled a flower between her finger and thumb. “I can't remember who... I keep seeing blonde hair and a red hat that kinda looks like Rei's...”
A sigh the likes of had never been heard coming out of the young surveyor dragged out of her. The flowers were dropped solemnly into her lap as she looked down. “It makes me feel terrible when I remember stuff like that. These people meant so much to me. At least, that's what it feels like. How could I forget them?”
Akari's eyes looked up at Ingo. The shine of tears was becoming increasingly clear.
“Do... Do you think they miss us?” Akari finally asked. “The people we left behind. You think they even know we're gone?”
Ingo looked over Akari for a few moments. He of course felt the same. He did well to hide exactly how many times a memory would creep up on him and leave him a mess for days on end. Memories of family and friends with no faces and garbled voices. Precious moments that he felt he would keep close to his heart til his dying days now a fleeting sensation. It hurt. It hurt more to see young Akari going through the same turmoil.
“I cannot say...” Ingo spoke carefully. He wanted to at least be honest with her. “I do not know what our loved ones are doing or feeling at this moment... But I do know this.”
He ran his hand over her head gently. “We miss them terribly. It is not a pleasant sensation. It is not a sensation that I would wish my loved ones to feel.” His hand cupped her chin and looked into her eyes. “I hope they are happy and well, even if I am not there to take part in it. I wish that for ALL my loved ones.”
Ingo suddenly found himself tackled into a hug. Akari's face was buried into his chest as she sniffled. He voice was muffled against his tunic. “Thanks, Uncle Ingo.”
Ingo hugged her close and nuzzled her head lightly. A few moments passed before Akari pulled away and wiped her eyes. Ingo's gaze was gentle and patient as she tried to laugh off the sudden emotional rush. “Ugh. Okay. I'm okay. Let's get to picking some flowers. I want Rei to check out these smelly things.”
Akari returned to sorting through the colored petals while Ingo placed his hat back on his head. Yes, he missed the life he left behind but people like Akari gave him the strength to persevere. She'd never know how much she had helped him and how much she meant to him. He was completely fine with that.
His thoughts were broken abruptly as Akari's hand grabbed his sleeve tightly. Her voice was a harsh whisper. “Ingo! A pokémon! I've never seen one like it!” Akari pointed toward a shuffling green mound peeking in and out among the flowers. Ingo squinted but could not tell what it was either.
“I need to catch it!” Akari was already shuffling through the flowers trying to be as stealthy as possible. Ingo watched her with a bemused smile. His young friend already looked to be back to her old self.
He hoped that this memory at least would stay with him forever.

I haven’t thought about the Wild Kratts or their Creature Power suits in ages. Curse you… My first thought wasn’t “oh, it’s just a consume thing that Rei dragged Akari into doing”, it was those totally fell through a Distortion! Why must I keep getting inspired to have these ideas???
The Tasmanian Devil episode showed that the creature power suits can create their own transformations albeit very glitchy. So, I imagine Rei picking the gloves and suits (vests really) up from a Space-Time Distortion. He might’ve thought they were simple costumes for Halloween which was a few days ago. Of course, he has to get a picture wearing these and wouldn’t you know it. Akari has the closest physical build/height to him so she can wear the other one! Perfect Arc-Phone selfie chance!
*One cool costume™️ photo session later.*
Akari would absolutely take it off because the vest-glove combo’s too awkward to wear with her Survery Corps uniform. Meanwhile, Rei’s probably going to take a few more pictures and even gets a blue Pokémon to make his set… Only for an accidental bump into his Pokémon to cause the Creature Power suit to activate.
Cue their panic as Rei turned into a Pokémon!
…Sorta.
Y’know what? I’m posting this one by itself

Warden Ingo with a S/O that really likes to pounce on people they like.
They’ll jump on Laventon. They’ll jump on Akari & Rei. They’ll jump kick Kamado in the face.
Ingo’s S/O is usually pretty low-key, but sometimes they’ll experience bursts of energy and affection (AKA Zoomies), which makes them go POUNCE.
Ingo always catches them and, when the situation warrants it, will scold them. It goes in one ear and out the other when they’re in ‘zoomie’ mode.
- yui.anon
Fjejendidnwj Akari and Rei!!! You’re gonna mow them down!!
🍓🍓🍓
Ingo, at first, is shocked by your "zoomies," as you call them. He's used to you being more calm and collected, but here you are, wrestling and pouncing on your Pokémon in such a way his Pokémon beg him to join, or for him to wrestle them too. It's when you pounce on him, giggling as you cling to him, that he relaxes into it. You remind him of the Sneasel kits, in a way, so he's quick to grow used to your behavior
The one thing he tries to regulate is the time and place. Laventon and the other Survey Corp members seem used to your zoomies as well. Laventon catches you, chuckling as he hugs you back. Akari and Rei immediately wrestle you, shouting about finally winning against you this time! Cyllene merely swiftly and easily pins you, but you always laugh, and even she has a sly smile on her face. It's endearing to watch
It's when Kamado is around that Ingo tries to restrain your actions. The commander is a little stricter about your pouncing, despite his own willingness to flip people around. He'd welcome your pouncing, but Ingo knows you don't intend just to pounce. Your play fighting loses all playfulness when Kamado is introduced, so he grips you tight to him, keeping you from another banishment.
Back at home, with the Sneasels or in the house, Ingo happily wrestles you. You're so cute, using all your strength to try and pin him. But time taking care of Sneasels and a few more playful Sneaslers have given him an advantage. Your battles are legendary, and very fun. Once you're worn out, Ingo tucks you both into bed for snuggling, pleased to have you by his side, making the days so much brighter
🍓🍓🍓
i dunno i think it's funny if cyllene is just wordlessly throwing you around when you get into zoomie mode. effortlessly tossing you about as you cackle and try to tackle her again and again

So, Leon would see something's up with the story like...immediately, right?
Because "Ninja Girl" Akari was *really* nice with her Pokemon, and apparently had them for months, and what he saw seems to support that. No pokemon that got stolen in the last few weeks would be that familiar and friendly with the "thief". Not to mention the Pokemon were strong, like...at least Raihan or Piers strong, so they were clearly trained by Akari...which doesn't match up with the story given as even Gloria's pokemon, the best and fastest rising trainer he's seen in a long time, needed an entire Galar Battle Season (which I'm just kind of assuming went for 6+ months) to get that strong...
The researcher's story is suspicious as hell, but because he's getting lost or getting redirected he can't find Akari again, and he's very leery of people siding with the Researchers right now...
After all, Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and even League heads have been parts of Villain teams before...He can't really trust Cynthia on this.
Here’s basically how I currently imagine their brief early interaction going if I include it:
When Leon runs to check on Akari who had just tumbled from the bushes onto her face, he can’t help but notice the full team of six pokemon on her belt in what look to be beautifully hand crafted and hand carved pokeballs. Leon knows only experience trainers can handle six trained pokemon and he can even see the wear of them suggesting that she’s someone who battles often.
When he offers to help her up one of the balls burst open and a very defensive looking Alola vulpix positions herself between him and her trainer and growls at both him and his charzard. He knows when he’s told and respectfully keeps his distance as the girls gets up. (his charzard not at all feeling threatened from the lil ice type) Leon would then see the girl is also wearing a dark mask coving most her face which matches the rest of her classic ninja like aesthetic she has going on.
The girl apologizes for her Vulpix, Marshmellow, behavior, casually scooping the mon up to hold, She’s just a bit protective of her with strangers, the girl assures. He compliments that she must have a close bond with her pokemon to have such a fierce defender. He can tell this makes the girl smile and she asks if he’s a trainer too while eyeing his Charzard who’s behind him.
This was not a question he was expecting but he’s pleasantly surprised that she hadn’t recognized him. He admits he’s a trainer as well, a quite a strong one at that, opening his jacket to show her his own team of six on his belt. He sees that familiar spark of competition in her eyes, but instead he asks her about her pokeballs and if she made them herself. She tells him that she did and reaches for the empty one at her waist to show him only for Marshmellow to fuss. The girl rolls her eyes and shushes them with a kiss between the ears and then instead grabs another ball. She releases the Pokémon inside, which happens to be another Alola vulpixs, and holds up this now empty ball to show him. It’s an incredible rustic design, he’s tempted to ask if he could take a picture when Marshmellow steals his attention again.
Once the second frost fox had been freed, Marshmellow started to wiggle until her trainer let her down and immediately the two pokemon start to play. Leon laughs and then asks if she favors vulpix or either ice or fairy type for her team. While she admits to having a Froslass as well she tells him her team is a mix of types from the friends she’s made rather than that of a battle build. Leon greatly respects that and can even see how friendly her other vulpix, Aurora, behaves not only with her but her other pokemon as well. (She explains that the two are basically sisters, having joined her team right around the same time about 7 months back.) She also admired his Charzard, telling him how her own first partner is also a fire type, being a typhlosion.
Leon is honestly about to request a battle, curious of this strange girl and what she can do, when the chime of a phone emits from the girls bag. She quickly pulls it out to answer what must be a text and Leon notices her custom arceus themed phone case. He’s starting to suspect this girl must be from Cynthia’s home town judging by how old fashion her whole aesthetic is and her apparent fondness for mythical Pokémon.
She tells him that it’s a text from her uncle, asking her to come back to camp so she has to go. It’s then that Leon suddenly remembers that he is in fact very lost. He quickly asks her for directions before she goes and she lets him know how to get to the nearest town. He looks in the direction she points, making sure to point that way too, but as he turns back to thank her and asks for her name, since they got so caught up talking about pokemon, he finds she’s already vanished into the foliage. Even Charzard is startled by his soundlessly she left.
(It’s only once they are all well out of sight from the stranger that Marshmellow drops the illusion and returns to her Zorua form. Akari pets her fluffy head and thanks her for being so brave. She picks up her pace, excited to tell Ingo how she remembers where they are.)
Do the important thing here is that Leon walks away from this interaction not at all suspecting anything too weird at the time. Like at most he thinks she’s a dedicated cosplayer who lives in the frosty mountains. He can tell she’s a great trainer, or at least has the potential to be one by how she treats her pokemon and the loving detail she put into their pokeballs. He could see each one was personalized in some way. He unfortunately doesn’t get to see her battle at this time m, but can tell from the chill in the air when her vulpix locked eyes on him that this adorable fluffy pokemon was both capable and willing to take him down.
Also, the only pokemon of hers that he saw were a pair of vulpix and heard her mentioned a Froslass and typhlosion. All of this looks and sounds normal so he does not question it as he hasn’t seen any pokemon out of the ordinary.
He only makes the connection that the ninja girl and her uncle are crime niece and Ingo after a clear picture of her and her Hisui typhlosion is made public. Before that image is posted he had no idea that she and the girl Ingo was seen with were the same person.
He had already been suspicious of the researcher story at the start, as this was Ingo they were accusing of stealing. Yes, he had been missing for three years but that doesn’t automatically mean he’s now a criminal. For Emmets sake Leon refuses to believe that.
And then the picture of Akari is released and holy shit he met that girl! He talked to her in the woods while he was in Sinnoh! Right before all of this even blew up! Which means… this is so much worse then he thought. This would be the big moment that inspires Leon to go to Sinnoh himself. The people in charge are either out right lying or being manipulated and he won’t stand by and watch this happen.
He would try to contact Cynthia over this but by this point either she’s not taking calls or whoever is her assistant is purposely getting in the way of them being able to communicate. Which is a similar situation Elesa is dealing with trying to talk with Cynthia as well.
So Leon tells Hop his plan and not long after the two set out! And immediately get betrayed by the airlines and sent to the wrong region.

Dialga v. Palkia Does Not Go As Expected
PLA, GN!Reader
Adaman and Irida want to have a fight, you just want to eat some potato mochi
Since the two clans have reached a peaceful treaty, it seemed only proper there be some sort of festival to celebrate. And since Jubilife Village has always been a sort of middle ground, it only makes sense to hold the party here. Plus, well, this is where the gods live.
Speaking of, you've become something of an,, ambassador between humans and the Almighty, as well as the de facto moderator for arguments between the clans. That's another reason everyone is gathering in the village.
Commander Komodo says that you have to look the part. You try to argue but then Cyllene pulls a sword out of nowhere - apparently she was the best swordsman in Hoenn? You make a note to ask about it later - and reminds you about following orders. So you relent and spend the day getting ready.
The tailor - Anthe - borrows some of your Pokémon for inspiration. It's a little silly to say but it gives you just a tiny bit of anxiety. How would you feel, having four friends who are always by your side suddenly whisked away? You feel just a tiny bit naked. But you stick through it, helping Rei and Akari hang up streamers and trying not to jump when Ingo randomly yells from a few feet away.
Seriously what did he do in his past life where he was always yelling?
Anthe's custom outfit is gorgeous, as you expected. There's a bit of a mish-mosh of colors to represent the Almighties; blue for Dialga, pink for Palkia, white for Arceus, you even talked her into adding some black and gold for Giratina.
Then it's heading over to Arezu so she can fuss over your hair.
You're finally rescued when Adaman and Irida show up about an hour before the festival is set to start. Arezu immediately pulls Adaman into a conversation, while Irida helps you to your feet. Arezu finally releases both you and Adaman, so together with Irida you three scamper back outside.
Like I said, they're here an hour early. You link your arm with Adaman's and nudge his side, teasing him a bit. You grab Irida's hand to tease her too.
'Oh you're here early? Did you forget the time? Did Irida have to come get you so you didn't be late? Irida I didn't know you were so prompt and timely. That's not a very Pearl Clan thing to do. Not very traditional.'
They're both a bit red-faced. Irida is scowling at you while Adaman is sticking his tongue out. You copy his childish display, and within moments you're locked in a fierce tongue battle
No not like that. Sorry to disappoint.
Irida (lightly) smacks Adaman on the back of the head. He yells but she ignores him, facing you with a gleam in her eyes. She explains that they actually have a request. That definitely sobers Adaman up a bit.
They want to battle each other with Dialga and Palkia to settle, Once And For All, which Clan is better.
You,,, are immediately hesitant. Not because you're concerned about the Pokémon ripping open the fabric of reality again - okay that's a lie you kinda are a bit worried about that - but because,, look it's already a little difficult for the clans to wrap their heads around you casually keeping their respective Almighties in a Pokéball and you really don't want to make that worse.
But Adaman and Irida seem genuine. So you relent, bringing them over to the training grounds. You have over your Pokéballs and go to stand with Ingo. One of the balls in your belt rattles. With a glow, Giratina emerges, settling beside you to watch the fight. You give it a few Oran berries as a treat.
Once the clan leaders get over their initial awe - and you remind Dialga and Palkia that, hey, humans kinda need the fabric of space-time to stay together to survive so don't go too hard - they're ready to brawl!
You end up crawling onto Giratina's head to get an aerial view. You reach back into your satchel and pull out a container of potato mochi for a snack. You're about to pop one in your mouth when four of them start to glow - two blue, two pink. Leaving you with just three left.
You roll your eyes and remind them to share.
Much to the clan leaders' shock, the gods have just,,, stopped fighting. You could have told them to expect this but the look of confusion slowly morphing to a surprised understanding on both their faces is much funnier. Surprised understanding turns again into confusion when they each receive a mochi.
A blessing from the lord
You slide off Giratina's back to the floor and pass one mochi over to Ingo and another to the Void Pokemon itself. Then you finally snack on yours.
Last week, Palkia opened a mini-wormhole just to steal Professor Laventon's toque. And Dialga laid down in front of the Galaxy Hall and refused to move until Rei and Akari promised to take it on their next survey. And Giratina sat in front of your house and refused to let you leave until you gave it a kiss on the head and reaffirmed that, yes, Giratina is a very good Void Snake.
They're powerful, borderline Eldritch creatures, sure. But like most creatures - most humans included - sometimes they wanna be showered in affection. And sometimes they wanna eat good food with good friends.
And isn't that what this festival is all about?
Right as you finishing explaining that, Giratina lobs a Shadow Ball right in Palkia's face and escapes through a wormhole. Palkia gives an indignant roar and follows. Dialga makes a purring sound that might be a laugh. Then Giratina pops up behind Dialga and lobs another Shadow Ball, which makes Dialga snarl and give chase.
The four of you - Adaman, Palina, Ingo, and yourself - all stand in the middle of the court, watching the legendary Pokémon chase each other around. Ingo chuckles and says siblings are like that. Irida asks if he has any siblings. He frowns and shrugs, saying he doesn't remember.
Adaman adds that friends fight a lot too. You two share a look. You give a slight nod.
He reaches over and plucks the hair clip off Irida's head and tosses it to you. She yelps in surprise, then anger. You and Adaman sprint out of the training grounds and into the village square while Irida yells and gives chase.

#did this swap occur before or after Akari's debriefing and the gifting of the arc phone? #Either way this can't be good for either timeline #pokemon #the legend of zelda #also are you going to write more of this or should I?
(Tags via @alex-of-1000-dumbasseries)
This occurs after Akari’s debriefing. Being told to seek out all Pokémon is very confusing when you end up in a world with no Pokémon.
Zelda has a weird dream a few days later featuring the weirdest looking horse she’s ever seen, who tells her to seek out all Pokémon and mutters something about a mixup. She wakes up the next morning to discover her Purah Pad has undergone a significant style change.
I’m still trying to figure out how long Zelda can go before Laventon has to pull her aside and tell her that she can use her light powers but NEEDS to keep her time travel powers hidden before one of the clans sees and starts a civil war.
I’m also trying to figure out how to get Akari out of TotK Ancient Hyrule, because arriving with no Pokémon or light powers means she’s not going to be particularly fun for that plot line. I think she would do good in present TotK Hyrule. She and Josha would get along. I also think she would have fun in a few other mainline zelda games, either helping Link or working with side characters, like Wind Waker or Minish Cap.
So far my best idea for that is that Hylia figures out the mistake fairly quickly and storms into Arceus’s corner of the primordial void to yank Akari out of Ancient Hyrule so that Zelda can be put in later before the plot progresses too far. But due to [waves hand] they can’t put Akari back into her time or into Hisui, so they just dump her somewhere else in the Zelda timeline while they figure things out.
When you realize you can take your favorite character from one of your favorite pieces of media. And just chuck them into another of your favorite pieces of media. And then just let them cause problems. Ohohoho
#feel free to write more lol#I have been rotating pla in my head a lot lately so that’s pretty much where this comes from#I kinda want postgame Akari and not start of game Akari#but that doesn’t work super well with Zelda’s side of things

[Snippet idea: The Pokédex project had been gaining momentum ever since Mackenzie fell from the rift. However, Laventon couldn’t help worrying about the young girl. She had been pushing herself harder since fulfilling Warden Mai’s request. Rei and Akari were worried too.]
—-—-—
The only way to describe the current situation was pure chaos. Granted it was organized chaos considering the Pokémon were battling within certain areas yet still chaos... Laventon had been too busy studying a “shiny” specimen Mackenzie caught to read her general notice. It was to his later embarrassment that he ran into the pastures worried the Pokémon were rioting.
Luckily, Akari managed to pull him away from an eevee’s impressive Swift attack. “Goodness! What in the world is going on here, my girl?”
“Training,” she replied immediately, “Mackenzie has been going kinda crazy training her team and offered us to join a session. She issued a notice five days ago to the security corps informing them about this. Rei’s behind those mon-made boulders with Pikachu and Staravia practicing their steel-type moves. I’m guessing you were too busy to read it and panicked?”
A sheepish nod was his response. Now that he could look around, Laventon noticed many of the Pokémon were using the same moves. The wielder (or rather trainer as she preferred) was supervising everything on her ponyta Colton.
It still amazed the professor that someone could sit on a fire-type ponyta’s flaming back unburned if it truly trusted them. Geodudes threw rocks at a pair of Stantler that were trying to catch most in psychic power. Sylveon was throwing around Fairy Winds alongside some Beautiflies Silver Wind. Shinxes and Luxio slowly walked forward in the wind attacks shrouded in electrical energy. Buizels pushed against Bidoofs using their powerful Aqua Jet who in turn retaliated with Rollout.
But the star of the training session had to be the Alpha Kricketune. Sokka the recently-evolved Dewott matched its X-Scissors with his own. Professor Laventon noticed the training session centered around taking attacks as well as pushing through to get close to the attacker.
He was unsure why Mackenzie chose to train so many Pokémon all at once, but her unique style helped her win in the Alpha fight. That Swift firing Eevee occasionally showered the various battles in energy stars. Every Pokémon had to continue their battles while also avoiding the little normal type’s attack. Mackenzie clicked her tongue before leading Colton toward the Stantlers, “Star grazed your horn, Nicholas. Switch to practicing charge beam with Picard.”
Nicholas snorted before making his way over to where her Pikachu was using Swift. Picard’s move when compared to Eevee left a lot to be desired. The yellow mouse waved to Laventon.
Finally, Akari led him away from the main area.
—
Hopefully, Sokka can solo Kleavor whenever the frenzy starts, she thought, I don’t want to fight him on my own for too long.
Pokémon training was much harder than the games made it out to be. Not to mention she wanted to avoid having her Pokemon break down from similar training to Paul. Keeping an eye on so many proved challenging yet fun seeing the actual creatures battle each other. One of the few upsides to holding this training session with most of the Security Corps’ Pokémon was Captain Zisu focused on Kleavor.
Injuries should be kept to a minimum as only the more experienced guards joined her in the investigation. Mackenzie hoped Lian was okay even if his Lord still recognized him. (Hopefully anyway...) Professor Laventon was silly to run into an active battling field like that.
—-—-—
(I noticed I only wrote one thing involving Mackenzie so have a snippet with her in it. She and Caitlin are very different personality-wise which I hope people can figure out from this.)

As some of you might know I am making a Found family/Papa Ingo au (open to change in the future since I am just doing things as the story develops), with some character. Finally I decide to organize my thoughts since there are a lot of ideas I am planing to do. New ideas are always welcome so feel free to give me some more
✨ The list of characters of the au: ✨
Sugi
Omet and Miles
Richie
Wamu
Genba
Rosie
Hazel
still need to work on the other characters too, I will keep updating this as the time passes

🙌 Finished Comics:
Hug (Penpastshipping || Ingo x Sugi) Warden Ingo has been very kind to Sugi since she arrived here in Hisui, but now she has been starting to develop a tiny bit of separation anxiety... is ok to ask for something in particular her heart desire? (Based on this lovely lil thing)
Pen Pals (Penpastshipping || Ingo x Sugi) Ingo took Sugi to Jubilife Village but something is troubling him
✏️ Mini comic idea summary (WIP) ✏️
Rowlet’s hat (Rowlet) “Rowlet has stolen Professor Laventon hat and is flaying around with it in the whole village causing trouble and other mischief, now, is up to Rosie, Rei and the professor to get it back”
The boy and the creature (Zorua) “Omet and Miles got into an argument before their survey adventure, Miles decide to stay in Jubilife Village and let Omet do the work by himself. Perish Song (Misdreavus) “Recently at night in the Coronet Highlands people has been hearing some ghostly singing voices, Hazel got assigned to figure out who or what is the source of the problem”
Dimension Transfer (Porygon-z) Porygon-Z was been studied by their respective researches but one day The Pokémon just vanished into thin air, this been attributed to possible “incompetence of the program update” little did the academics knew that one day Porygon-Z will come back with some memories from the past
Headbutt (Cranidos) In the name of science Wamu, Richie and Akari want to test if they are able to beat a Cranidos’s headbutt, this already sounds like a bad idea but they all have the necessary safety equipment for the job.
Nary Sugi has started to go into labor and she really wants Warden Ingo at her side… and it seems she is presenting some complication, she send her Beautifly to search for Ingo… but will he be able to reach the warden on time?
Stitchets of care Warden Ingo dreads trying to mend his uniform. It's one of the few things he still has from his past and he is afraid of altering it in any shape or form. One day a young hatchling tears up his hat he has left back at the cave after being called out for an emergency, he's initially heartbroken and ready to part with it complelty. Sugi has good intentions on fixing and stitching it back together… but will she be able to do it? She is not the best but she sure will try
Bonding ritual for men Gaeric wants to bound with Warden Ingo since there aren’t many adult in the pearl clan he can be friends with. His intentions are good but will ingo survive them?
Camera Flash (Kaede x Ren) Kaede was minding his own business when suddenly a camera flash get his attention, did someone just took a photo of him??? of him of all people?? his insecurities start to rise until he found out the “culprit” (little silly comic I want to do based on this )

since we had Valentines Day (or Palentines Day) just the other day I've been thinking of how the Twins had dealt with that day back in Unova:
As someone who believes that they aren't too much into romance at all (they love trains and battles) they get easily flustered when they get approached with presents on this day. But since Palentines Day gets more and more popular I can see them preferring this over any romantic gifts. And they are holding presents made by children in the highest regard.
Seeing little kids come up to them to show their appreciation for them and/or trains fills them with joy and they sometimes joke to each other that one day they might have these kids as successor or Depot Agents at work. They also always have a little something as a thank you for the kids on them.
Elesa has made it a habit to gift Emmet a card with the best (or worst according to Emmet) Valentines pun and Ingo a card with the cheesiest message to fluster him on that day. The twins know it's not meant in a romantic way just her playfully teasing them.
Yes yes anon! Shaking your hand, I also headcanon that Ingo and Emmet are not all that interested in romance haha
I love the thought of them getting gifts of appreciation on the day though ;w; Lots of cards and drawings and other things!! (And I’d like to think they get handed presents for their Pokémon too!)
And as for all of this with Elesa, it’s funny because I have a few paragraphs for Rain Check (the Palentines day fic I’ve been working on for forever, and STILL didn’t get done this valentines cause I’ve been so busy ^^;) that describes this almost perfectly:
(Keep in mind a lot of wording here will be updated)
—————
“Does that sound like something you used to do with flowers, where you came from?”
Ingo continued to methodically loop the ribbons between his calloused fingers. Black over White. Yellow over Black. White over Yellow. Black over White. Through the holes.
Through the holes…
The holes were big. (in)(this)(one.)
(Elesa) would always surprise him and (Emmet) at work with (the biggest arrangement of) flowers (on Valentine’s Day. The extravagance had always been emphasized with a card, covered in gaudy, hand-drawn hearts) and wrapped in an elaborate style of bows, but offset (with the card being terribly inappropriate for the occasion - usually for a retirement party or a 60th birthday - where she had gone in and written over the card’s message with pen.) It usually contained (a terribly corny Valentine’s joke,) and a (short but ) genuine message appreciating (their friendship - the whole thing was a silly tradition she had stubbornly yet lovingly repeated ever since she had become friends with them in their childhood.)
(She had never once sent it to their offices - Elesa always thought it was hilarious to have the extravagant gifts hand delivered to fluster) the two of them (in front of the whole station, where people passing by would dote over the public gesture, and a few nosy individuals would even pry. Oh, how she’d laugh at them as they recounted to her how embarrassing the whole ordeal was, before taking them out to dinner and a movie after their shifts).
(The)(punctures)(stretched)(painfully,)(and) Not much was left behind.
She would always surprise him and the other one at work with flowers. Wrapped in an elaborate style of bows, but offset. It usually contained a genuine message appreciating… the two of them.
…
“I… apologize Miss Akari, for I am not sure.”
—————
I love these thoughts anon, you and I think very similarly!!!
#wayward’s asks#wip wednesday#<- not really but I’m putting it with my other snippets#love these ;w;#and as you said anon I like to think Ingo and Emmet have things for kids in the station too#always have candy and gear station buttons in their pockets to hand out!!!#Ingo and emmet probably get so many chocolates and stuff too that they distribute everything they can’t take home with their depot agents#and Ingo and Emmet’s Pokémon love love love all the flowers they have to take home haha

I just spend 3 hours drawing these two. And I got to say Irida hair is shit and putting it on Dar war hard. Will colour it digital. Pure screaming right now. Spend like an hour writing this shit.
I am currently working on a story idea for current Sinnoh, Immortal!Volo and the future of the Clans. It is planned as a romantic reader insert, but I am still working on the main story.
These two are the direct descendents of Adaman and Irida respectively.
Left we got Almas, Adamans descendent. Almas lives in a small hut close to Pastoria City and Lake Valor, but away from the Hotel Grand Lake. She lives with her grandparents and acts as the guardian of Lake Valor.
While the clans don't exist the same way as they did in Hisui, Almas still takes care of her duties, staying in contact with as many descendents as she can and work with Sinnohs Pokémon League as one of the nativ representatives.
Peppy, active and a bit reckless, Almas tends to the people and Pokémon around her. Thickheaded she does what she thinks is needed, but is open to other peoples opinions. She is not a time waster, but once in a blue moon she will lay down on the island surrounded by Lake Valor water and spend her time with her team.
Her clothes are a mix of a selfmade robe, she had seen on old pictures and old Diamond Clan robes. The robe itself is not 1:1 Adamans robe, but heavily inspired, including the clans emblem and the gold yellow 'claw marks'. The shoes are black, with a blue bow and blue fabric on the left shoe. The bow she wears is white. Her body is adorned by a big amount of scratches, both from her childhood and her reckless behavior - the most recent on her right thighs.
Her team is a Leafeon, Umbreon and Whimsicott.
Left we have Dar, Iridas descendent. Dar lives close to Lake Acuity with his Pokémon as the guard of the lake, visiting his family in Snowpoint City on a frequent basis.
Dar, similar to Almas, takes care of his duties. He works with Almas in preserving Sinnohs history and nature. Unlike Almas, who tends to travel across the region, Dar stays most of his time in Northern Sinnoh.
Dar is a reserved and shy man. He loves tradition and often travels to the spot the Pearl Clan used to stay, laying out offerings to Palkia and tending for its nature. While he tends to not share his personal life or emotion with to many people, he tends to bicker with Almas, whos reckless behavior bothers him, berating the older woman on a constant basis.
Dar wears and old Pearl Clan shirt and the band his ancestor used to wear. His pants on the other hand are self made greyish rosa pants and his shoes, similar in colour to Iridas, including a black stripe at the top of them. While he does not freeze, his hands are prone to freezing if he touches snow for too long, making him wear gloves, Motiv of Iridas arm band is used.
His team contains a Glaceon, Espeon and Fletchinder.
Both of them are still in contact with other clan descendents, with onyl a few really keeping in touch. Mayas(my oc) descendents and Mellis descendents in Almas case and for Dar it's Palinas descendents and another one I am still working on.
Dar and Almas Eeveelutions are direct descendents of Iridas and Adamans Eeveelutions, with either of them having a non Sinnoh nativ Pokémon, they had been given to in their childhood.
Story wise I have planned this:
MC in PLA was Akari, who ended up staying in Hisui. Her descendent ended up being Dawn the MC of DPP. After Dawn took over the position as Champ, she also got an assistant, like every other Champ. That one would be the Reader, a shy and timid woman from Hoenn, who learned from her uncle about being the Champions assistant. She has an oversized Shiny Togepi. Dawns and Reader befriend each other, spending a lot of time with each other. In her free time the reader meets a strange man named Volo in the Solaceon Ruins. She is intrigued by him, but to shy to talk to him. Volo on the other hand sees her and sees the woman he lost a few hundred years ago(time unsure. 150? 200?) he knew he had to talk to her, even if he wasn't sure if she was a descendent of his or if his loved one was reborn. They befriend each other and he learns that the reader is from Hoenn and actually the descendent of his former lovers sister, she had left in Kanto. The Reader does not know about who Volo actually is and how he was cursed to be Immortal(at first it was some kind of a blessing, giving him the chance to continue with his plans, but after over hundred of years it became a curse), thinking he is just a hiker, interested in ruins and history.
When the reader makes Volo and Dawn meet, Dawn, who was taught about the history of Sinnoh and her families history, was able to recognize him. To not break her friends heart, Dawn does not tell the reader Volos secret, but apprehended him afterwards, telling him, she knows who he is and he should not dare to reset the world or hurt the reader. Volo makes the reader believe that, the only reason why he looks so similar to Cynthia is the fact that they are related, but their families are not close and she does not know about him... Not telling her that he is not wrong completely, not voicing the fact that he is her grandfather.. But who knows how many greats are in front of it.
Volos team is similar to his old, what is different? Still don't know. He definitely has a Togekiss.
Story is supposed to follow the reader and another threat, but not sure who. The Clan descendents are supposed to play a part in it too.
Reader is a bit based on my PLA oc Mariko, a Medical Corps member with an Shiny Alpha Togepi.

3-gatsu no Lion 2nd Season – 06, 07
「小さな世界 / 手紙」 (Chiisana Sekai / Tegami) “Chapter 56 Small World / Chapter 57 Letter”
End Card
「梅雨の始まり / 蜂谷」 (Tsuyu no Hajimari / Hachiya) “Chapter 58 Start of the Rainy Season / Chapter 59 Hachiya”
Hina’s Predicament
Throughout these two episodes, Hina’s suffering continues on with no end in sight. Her teacher keeps brushing her off, and no one will stand up to the bullies. However, she does find solace within her household, although there’s a dire lack of permanent solution.
I think that we’ve been seeing an exploration of potential approaches, only to find out that these types of situations are truly delicate, and tricky to a fault. Too little effort, and you may as well have done nothing. Too heavy-handed, and some undesired consequences may arise. We see that even Takahashi’s intervention can only provide a brief respite, by momentarily raising Hina’s spirits. In fact, I would argue that his involvement only exacerbated the issue, since it gave the bullies a perfect narrative to push. They wasted no time in framing Hina as being a slut, who was fooling around with Takahashi.
Upon his immediate reaction to the unwelcome news, it was terrifying yet awesome to see Rei flare up in such a way. If we exclude his vulnerable outbursts from the first season, I’ve never seen such powerful displays of emotions coming from him, and it is here that we can see how the Kawamoto sisters have formed a cornerstone in his character development. No longer is he the pushover of old. Rather, he constantly strives to be a dependable person, who can look after the people he cares for. That said, he is still the same old, awkward Kiriyama, unintentionally startling some animals when he suddenly raises his voice in solidarity. Then again, who wasn’t on the same page? I personally feel an indescribable rage towards the bullies first, then towards the teacher above all else.
For someone who usually maintains a solid composure, it’s been really interesting to be reminded that despite being a mother by proxy, Akari is still a young woman with her own insecurities. Although Someji and Misaki are capable relatives, she worries about an extenuating situation, where she will have to go to school and confront the parents of Hina’s bullies. To be honest, I can see why such a concern would be legitimate. Imagine a middle-aged mother, who effectively enables her daughter’s terrible behaviour. Such an individual would be quick to protest her daughter’s innocence, and assert herself over Akari by ruthlessly putting her down. Even with all her love and best intentions for Hina, I could see Akari crumbling under such an unprecedented crisis. Let’s hope that the worst-case scenario doesn’t come about, right? I would hate to see such a beautiful smile getting fractured.
Rei vs Hachiya
In my opinion, this was the best shogi game depicted thus far in 3-gatsu. Due to the opponent, it was highly kinetic and fairly intense. Plus a new kind of difficulty arose. Rei’s perspective fantastically conveyed the unpleasant experience of playing against someone like Hachiya, who would fidget and make loud noises at sporadic intervals during a match. Often times, I found myself experiencing second-hand discomfort and irritation. By the way, these kind of physical reactions are a testimony to Shaft’s incredible directing. Anyhow, I wouldn’t blame people for thinking it’s a cheap tactic to unsettle shogi opponents. However, Hachiya strikes me as someone who suffers from ADHD. For those reasons, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, and you could never really deny his sincere passion for the game. Combine all these quirky traits, and you might even find him endearing. I’d say he won me over, after knuckling down on Kiriyama in the post-mortem, while demolishing parfait after parfait.
Concluding Thoughts
Rei forges ahead into the semifinals, and with Nikaidou hot on his heels, I look forwards to seeing what the next few matchup brings. Just how far can his newfound determination take him, or even better, what will he do if he falls short?
So far, the pacing has been nothing short of amazing. Where most other shows would struggle to follow up from a climax, 3-gatsu just seems to naturally transition between moments, continually moving from strength to strength in its depiction of Hina’s problem with bullies. Shaft deserve credit for faithfully following on, but most of my praise has to go to Umino Chica, who set down the entire groundwork that made everything possible. Both her character and story-telling feel organic in their construction,
Anyway, I’d like to play the Devil’s Advocate for Hina’s teacher because reading the manga grants me the benefit of hindsight, thus altering my initial preconceptions. Otherwise, I suspect that I would also be up in arms over how she chose to handle Hina’s situation. While it’s true that the teacher’s passivity is utterly despicable, humans all have their reasons for acting in certain ways. Righteousness is typically the natural course upon which our feelings run, but over time, disillusionment over the system can slowly erode away our capacity to do what’s right. That is to say, we become paralysed by an indescribable fear of failure, to the extent that we’re prevented from taking proper action. Not that it justifies losing courage, when the weak and vulnerable are crying for help. However, it’s completely understandable that not everyone has the same kind of conviction we see within Hina.
Zaiden’s Anecdote
Early on in my school days, I remember that I was quick to stand up for my friends, getting in tussles with larger kids who picked on anyone I cared about. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for those who I thought were my friends. What I’m about to tell you precludes my most bitter memories from secondary school.
This guy who could never beat me at Pokémon battles thought it would be hilarious to dump an entire plate of spaghetti over my head out of spite. Not saying I was perfect, considering I was as arrogant as they come and a sore winner. But what shocked me was that none of my friends tried to help me, stand up for me, and all left the scene as soon as they could.
What’s more, this kid went straight to our Head of Learning, and straight up lied to them about how I was the one who threw food at him, landing me into two weeks worth of detention. The kicker? Not one person who I thought of as my friend stood up for me.
Their shallow reasoning was as follows. Judging by my character, they thought that I would be quick to forgive and forget. That is to say, by not choosing a side, they thought could keep both friendships, even though one side had clearly wronged. And the worst thing? I never got an apology from this scumbag.
The ridiculous thing? My ‘friends’ told me to forgive and forget, and ‘make up’ with the perpetrator. Water under the bridge, making life easy for them. The dumb thing? I did exactly that, just to make my ‘friends’ happy. But he always continued acting like he was somehow the victim, and it felt horrible having to stick around someone who had wronged me in such a vile way without remorse. And what my ‘friends’ did was enable his lousy behaviour. One ‘friend’ told me they let him get away with it, because he never directly hurt them, making it okay for them. Needless to say, I don’t speak to that person anymore.
I’m not ashamed to admit that I cried at the time, cleaning up the floor covered in spaghetti, while the rest of the school kids in the dining room looked on in glee. Much like Hina, I also cried on some random nights, because I felt really abandoned, and the incident messed me up for a long time. However, I managed to come out stronger, and eventually found the genuine friends I had always wanted. There’s one in particular that comes to mind, that I want to talk about.
End Card
A Heartfelt Message to My Best Friend
Dear Alvin,
I know you sometimes read these Random Curiosity posts. Whether you’ll read this one is anyone’s guess. Nevertheless, I just wanted to say, I love you lots and thank you for being my best friend over these past few years!
A lot of people in our secondary school misjudged you, readily dismissing you for being ‘lame’. Not only were they completely wrong, but they utterly failed to see your true worth and value. From the bottom of my heart, I am thankful and blessed to have you as my best friend.
While you may be awkward at times, that does not refute the fact that you’re a truly good person at heart, who holds a deep sense of compassion for your peers. You would stand up for me without any hesitation, and properly listen to me when I needed someone to confide in. As I would do for you as well.
Had I known you prior to the spaghetti incident, I know I wouldn’t have experienced such loneliness. As such, it is my regret we couldn’t have been best friends earlier on during our time at secondary school, since I wish I was there to help with your hardships too. I will always have your back, and if I needed someone to have mine, I’d trust you for time immemorial. I hope we can continue to be best friends, till death do us part.
Yours sincerely,
Zaiden

Going off of an anon question about “what if they have to stop because one of their pokemon gets sick/injured” you said it would be pretty unlikely for them to get caught like that because they are constantly foraging and making different items with the skills they learned in Hisui. But I kinda had an idea for why they might have to interact with the public, what if one of Lady Sneasler’s eggs hatched prematurely? This might be ooc because you said that the eggs would probably hatch only when Sneasler finds herself a den, but I think it would be a really cool idea for why Ingo and Araki have to come out of hiding. Maybe during the egg stealing incident one of the eggs is injured, not enough for it to be noticeable but enough for the shell to weaken and eventually hatch way before it was meant to. Or maybe the egg just hatched early on it’s own. Either way because the sneasel is born so prematurely it would die without any medical attention, and because neither Ingo nor Araki had to deal with this situation before they decide to they need to seek help in order to save the sneasel’s life. Ingo, being Lady Sneasler’s warden, is the first to decide to risk it to save his noble’s child, and whether or not Araki stays behind to keep the rest of the eggs safe or decides to go with Ingo, it still means that at least he is going to need to stick his neck out to get help. You can completely ignore this if it doesn’t fit within your story but I think it would be an interesting reason why they need to reveal themselves to the public again after basically giving up on trying to reason with them
Ooo this is GREAT! ok, so there was a hot minute there were I was considering that once they get the Eggs back Sneaseler was gonna open the basket and find one to be missing. But I decided that was too mean and that it messed up the other things I was planning. But! To have an egg that was possibly dropped by the idiot researches in their rush now has cracks forming?? Oh the drama!
Now, a cracked egg can still hatch. Sneaseler, Ingo, and Akari would all still be devistated at this discovery but Ingo has helped salvage cracked eggs before and goes into protective mode. He takes one look at the newly acquired Chandelure and then tells the group he need a candle. They might have a few already, or Akari might hide her hair under a scarf and run down to the poke mart of a near by town to buy some with the battle winnings they have. Either way, there a tense moment when Chandelure lights the candle and Ingo hovers it over the egg. They all watch as the melted wax slowly dips down onto the egg, filling in and protecting the cracks. After that all they can do is wait and patch up an new cracks that start to form. They can only buy so much time though.
Days go by with them diligently checking on the egg every morning, noon, and night. Until one day a crack too big to seal forms and baby’s claws break through. Sneaseler takes the egg from them and sadly holds it close as the too small baby fights her way out. She’s too early, barely making any sound at all. Sneaseler tries to keep her awake even after hatching, terrified that she’ll die if she falls asleep.
I would need to figure out the other events surrounding this one before I decide upon what this could mean for other ideas, but Ingo risking himself to save the sneaslet is absolutely gonna happen. He might return to the pokemon nursery for help, but by this point they could be on the other side of Sinnoh. They could go into a Pokémon center for help, they both have started to remember those places to be honestly good places to go when your Pokémon was in danger. And Nurse Joy isn’t afraid to kick out a cop if their endangering her patients.
Ooo! If they go to a poke-center and Akari goes with him, it could be one where perhaps Cheryl has started working! How’s that for a Dawn identity reveal?? At first the staff is debating if they should alert the authorities but then Cheryl’s chansey gets a good look at Akari and recognizes her. She pulls over her trainer, who’s still scared because this person is supposedly a member of team galactic, but then she Recognizes the young girl who helped her through Eterna forest and battled her at the tower.
Ingo would be the one to do all the taking, Akari could be there to keep Sneaseler and the others calm. So Cheryl doesn’t get the chance to speak with her directly at first. She does trust them much more now and joins Nurse Joy’s side that the patient care comes first and foremost. If these people want help for their pokemon then that all that matters.
But for sure one of those eggs will be cracked and a baby girl will hatch too early! Thank you so much for this suggestion because I really wanted there to be some kind of lasting effect to the bad guys stealing the eggs!

Not that anon, but I remember reading a fic that called garbage plates, garbodor plates? I mean it also wrecked ingo because he wasn’t familiar with modern food anymore, but frankly a lot of the foods being mentioned would wreck me! And I feel like ingo and akari have cast iron stomachs in this au, so they should be fine. But like also, sodas been mentioned, but what about energy drinks/espresso coffee? Give them a Monster, as a treat?
Garbador plates!! Ok that’s really cute haha I love that, I can imagine them being Garbador themed!! The Pokémon needs more good rep!!
New headcanon Ingo (and Emmet!) enjoy Garbador plates when they can!!
Akari would absolutely be able to handle all of the modern day junk, and I feel like Ingo could keep up pretty well (better than all of the others by far) but I feel like having been in Hisui for several months/ a few years, and getting his body more adjusted to a hisuian diet over that time, just to reintroduce all of the processed stuff, there might be some things that would slow him down.
Nobody can handle it as well as Akari, who practically lived off of candy and junk before dropping into Hisui!
And drinks!! Various sodas of course. I feel like Akari would absolutely dislike the coffee…it’s bitter and adds onto her energy, which she already has too much of. It doesn’t have all of the added things that would make it sweet enough for her to like.
A lot of the adults on the other hand, quite like it though!
…the monster was touched once. But no one speaks of that day very much.
