I wish ao3 had a tag block feature, I know there's a filter feature that works per instance but being able to block the All Might Bashing tag altogether would do wonders to my blood pressure. Idk why everyone hates our man like they haven't seen his beautiful smile 😔
Yeah it boils down to a lack of reading comprehension and hypocrisy LMAO. Like, I honestly hate Dadzawa as a concept SO MUCH, SO MANY people portray him in a way that he isnt, when All Might is Right There, LITERALLY what people want

UA's child soldiers
I forgot to put this on the other post, but it's fine because I don't have a joke here, I just want to talk about this:
Tumblr media
YES! Yes Momo you're supposed to run! You're just teenagers for fuck's sake, you shouldn't be there in the first place.
Midnight made the right decision and told the kids to run.
Classes 1A and 1B aren't heroes, they're child soldiers. Just because they went to school and weren't isolated and trained by the government like Hawks was, doesn't make them that much different.
They were still brought here to fight a war. The adults, their teachers and mentors that they look up to, made the conscious decision to bring them here to fight a war.
I don't care that they placed them far back, they still brought kids to an active battlefield.
This isn't the first time btw, this keeps happening. During the Overhaul arc the heroes brought kids in the Shie Hassaikai raid too. Aizawa only told his students to back down if the league of villains shows up. But honestly that's very stupid of him. How did he expect this to go??
lov *shows up*:
aizawa: Oh wait a minute timeout! Ok kids, now as we said, you have to evacuate!
deku, uravity, froppy and red riot: yes mr aizawa!
deku, uravity, froppy and red riot *leave*:
aizawa: ok we're good now, you may continue the fight!!
obviously it doesn't work that way because that would be stupid, so the kids stayed and fought anyway!!
Same thing happens here. Adults made the irrational and moronic decision to bring kids to the fight telling them to stay back and not engage, while fully knowing that that's almost impossible because fights (especially of this massive scale) rarely go as planned, so the kids will most likely be forced to engage either way.
Also before anyone makes the "it's a shonen so the protagonists have to be there" argument..yes I know that. I'm asking for either this blatant exploitation of children to be addressed in the story or hori should find a better in universe excuse to force the protagonists to join the fight. In the first few arcs that's how it worked.
USJ and Forest training: the villains attack first so the kids have to defend themselves. (Don't have to think much for this one, it's the classic easy way out of having to find a better explanation. It's not bad, it works just fine. No need to fix it if it's not broken I say.)
Stain and Kamino: the kids go to join the fight on their own and that is seen as a reckless stupid decision. The adults reprimand them for putting themselves in danger. (works as great as the first explanation and is also a great way to mix things up a bit.)
So the heroes used to know this very important lesson apparently. But flash forward a couple of arcs later and suddenly the have some very conveniently selective amnesia! Now it's ok to drag literal children to their death by making them fight a war.
You wanna know why it's ok now while it wasn't before??
It's because they got their stupid licenses!!!
That's right! The adults only cared about this issue when it affected them. Now that the kids have a license, they're technically not their responsibility anymore. If they chose to fight it's their own decision. They're not being supervised anymore, they don't have to ask permission. So technically if they die during battle, legally the adults that put them in that position cannot be blamed.
And the worst part is that these kids got encouraged to get their licence earlier than average. The UA teachers already knew this specific group of kids had a tendency to make reckless decisions and starting/joining fights when it wasn't their place to do that..
and instead of teaching them to not do that, they pushed them to get legal certification early so they technically wouldn't be responsible if any of them died or got seriously injured!
ok I'm not saying that they did this on purpose....but if they didn't think of this when they were pushing their students to get their licence then that's awfully neglectful of them and they're bad teachers.
I don't know, seems pretty sus to me..

On the Realities of BNHA’s Heroism, and Those Who Act Within It (A Look At Dadz- Aizawa)
I, admittedly, am somewhat biased because I love Aizawa Shouta, and I don’t want people to read this without knowing it. However, I would like to think myself a realist, and I have thought upon and written his character for over a year and over a million words, so I would like to think that I can see both his shortcomings and his brilliance.
He is a good teacher. A good man. Not always the kindest one, but a good one.
BNHA MANGA SPOILERS  (Chapter 340 included) (oh, and a note that this is by no means looking for discourse or controversy, nor is it a complete consideration of his character and actions - it’s a ramble I wanted to share after having read the most recent chapter released online, and thus focuses on Aizawa in relation to the direct elements related to that)
this chapter heavily featured Aizawa, and did so for the first time in a while - he’s been here, of course, and I’ve looked at every instance, but he was very prominent in this, and that gave me a lot to think about, and emphasised a lot of the thoughts I already had
Tumblr media
He is intense. Scary, even. He has always had this start, right from his intro, and it makes sense.
See, this scene, to me, epitomises a lot of what too many people don't seem to understand about Aizawa, the Heroics Industry, and BNHA as a whole - he is an underground hero, and a man who has to teach children to be heroes, a glorified industry wherein many enter with stars in their eyes, expecting glory and money and adrenaline, to save people, but not truly understanding how they will have blood on their hands for the rest of their lives
Aizawa sees the worst of their society. A society that is very, very different to our own, not only because it's Japan rather than the Western world (speaking as someone who mostly interacts with those from the US and UK within this fandom’s sphere), but also because, as canonically-stated, the world changed a lot with the evolution of Quirks. Their standards for what is acceptable, what is dangerous or unusual, is incredibly different to ours. This fact, alone, explains a lot about many characters’ actions and attitudes, but I won’t go into that right now.
Aizawa - Eraserhead - knows he's sending these kids onto battlefields. He knows he's sending them to kill, to be killed, to lose the ones they love and even those they hate. To fail.
So yes, he can be harsh. He does it because he wants these kids to survive. He is intense, even scary, because he spends his nights dealing with the worst of society, and his days teaching people less than half his age, minors, how to do that themselves in the future. Of course, BNHA society is somewhat desensitised to this concept in a way that most of us, as consumers, aren’t, but there is undeniably still a massive weight upon him in this context.
Aizawa has nearly died for his class several times. He has nearly expelled them, at times, because they put themselves to what (in his knowledge) was completely unnecessary risk, and, though I won’t pretend to love that on a personal level, I do consider it fair. (Yes, I include Izuku’s QA Test in that - he was unaware, and ignorance does not excuse cruelty but I, personally, did not find him cruel - again, consider the different society that BNHA have to ourselves.)
He will go, no pun intended, above and beyond for his students, and I thoroughly believe that goes beyond the fact that he is employed to do so. There is a ferocity to the way he addresses their safety, a surety in his belief in them, and, in recent arcs but also as far back as the Final Exams, for example, a faith in their skills and heroism. He has taught them well, and he trusts that they are brilliant all in their own right. He does not discriminate, does not judge, only pushes and guides and nudges them to where they need to be to survive.
With this recent arc, no matter how much I dislike a very large proportion of it, between the senseless deaths and the traitor arc and more minor things that I generally don’t like (there are parts I do love, don’t get me wrong, and that is only my personal opinion regardless), you cannot deny that Aizawa wants the best for his students, Aoyama included. And Aoyama needs a push in the right direction. He needs help, needs someone to believe in him, needs to know that people are there for him. And I would find it hard to believe anyone could read the scenes in this chapter in any other way than Aizawa telling Aoyama to trust them all, to work alongside them.
So, yes, I genuinely believe him to be a good teacher.
Anyways!! Here are some of the softer Dadzawa moments from this chapter that I loved very much, if you got to the end of this  ^^;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then this last one, guys, with that soft not-scowl (and whoops, my writer head came out when I wrote that, didn’t it?)

Hogwarts AU Headcanons
Aizawa Shouta/Eraserhead, Toshinori Yagi/All Might, Taishiro Toyomitsu/Fatgum, Mirai Sasaki/Sir Nighteye, Keigo Takami/Hawks
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Slytherin 🐍
He was the odd ball though when it came to his own house since he hung out with a Hufflepuff and a Gryffindor
Would every now and then find himself in some trouble alongside his friends with the professors
Especially for being late to class, his two friends goofing off around the grounds, and trying to sneak around late at night.
Was in possession of the Maurader’s map with his friends....but Filch took it...
Also was friends with you as well, ever since the first train ride to Hogwarts, but the two of you start to date in your 6th year.
He excelled with all his subjects and O.W.L.S. and graduated almost at the top of his class
The two of you married not too long upon graduating Hogwarts.
Became an Auror and was pretty great at his job, but with the offer of a position at Hogwarts recommended to him, he decided to give it a go
The two of you move to Hogsmeade to be closer to his work.
I picture him teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts
He’s a strict teacher, but only because he needs the students to know the ways to defend themselves and be knowledgeable of the dangers in the wizarding world.
He is also runs Wizarding Duel Club, which is actually quite popular despite him being so strict with his teaching methods
Enjoys roaming around Hogsmeade with you on the weekends he and over the holidays
Frequents the Three Broomsticks and Honeydukes with you (especially honeydukes when you fall pregnant during his 2nd year of teaching)
Students were SHOOK to see their professor at Madame Puddyfoot’s Tea Shop with a heavily pregnant you on Valentine’s Day
Students since then have introduced themselves to you and enjoy talking to you....despite Shouta wanting a student free weekend in Hogsmeade.
But he can’t help but like it when students request to feel your baby bump and you happily let them....the happy look on your face makes his heart flutter
Will invite you to eat at Hogwarts with the students and professors that stay for Christmas because he feels bad for the students who don’t go back to their families
Tumblr media
Gryffindor 🦁
Was extremely popular in his Hogwarts years
Won the triwizard tournament his 7th year
His academics though? They weren’t out of this world, but they were pretty normal, he was better when it came to his extracurricular activities such as Wizarding Duel and Quidditch
He would secretly go to geek out about the muggle world with the Muggle Studies professor every now and then
Upon graduation he was a pretty popular quidditch player for the United Kingdom, but suffered a life changing injury
Decided live in the muggle world and study their way of life for a bit after the injury, he ended up composing a text book with all the basics he scrounged up together
It’s even used for the curriculum at Hogwarts
Though Hogwarts offered him a position as well as the Muggle Studies professor
Hell to the yes he went! He become head of Gryffindor house and helped give pointers to the quidditch team
Started a weekend club where students would meet in the great hall to observe Muggle Artifacts, it wasn’t really that popular, but it didn’t matter, the few students that joined was enough for him.
Met you shortly after beginning to teach at Hogwarts
You taught herbology and would sometimes listen in during his Muggle club in the great hall and would sometimes ask questions about the object he was talking about.
After that he would invite you out to Hogsmeade to get a butter beer and talk about muggle things since you showed an interest in wanting to know
The conversations soon turned into what would go on between two friends and it flowed so nicely, so after that he would ask you to meet up a few more times before going on a date.
The fact that two of you dated was no secret as your dates were of course held at Hogsmeade and the students could very well see the two of you chatting away.
So it wasn’t a surprise when the two of you got married and you fell pregnant during one year of teaching.
He totally invited the members of his muggles club to the wedding and totally didn’t get emotional when they gifted him a rubber duck (his absolute favorite muggle artifact)
Tumblr media
Hufflepuff 🦡
Known as the gentle giant while in school
Supper nice and was friendly with absolutely everyone, so he was highly respected and adored by his peers
His academic life was pretty normal, excelling in the subjects he needed to become an Auror, he was also the announcer for the school’s quidditch matches.
Also liked to spend his time in the library to study....also snuck snacks in as well and would share with the other students that were studying
Met you on the train ride to Hogwarts his 7th year, he was trying to enter your train car since the others were full but he only managed to bang his head upon entering
You two were joined at the hip ever since then and started dating
The two of you married after graduation
You came into the ownership of honeydukes at Hogsmeade while Taishiro spent most of his time away for his job as an Auror
Quite his job though once the two of you had your 5th child to move to Hogsmeade to be with you and to help you run the candy shop.
The students love interacting with you and Taishiro, talking about their classes and their stuggles and asking for advice as they would purchase their chocolate frogs and other confectionary
Your older children, who all happen to be girls, love to go visit you and Tiashiro ok the weekends and sometimes hang out with their friends there.
Your younger girls would give advice to the students who are purchasing candy on which one is the best and will also look longingly to them because they wanted to be at Hogwarts already.
They would also brag that they had like five of the cards that a student would get from their chocolate frogs, but Taishiro would soon put them on blast and say they didn’t
Became instant BFFs with the Weasley family thanks to being able to relate on having big families, so holidays together are chaotic but fun
Is a huge advocate for house elves rights along with his daughters and you
Tumblr media
Ravenclaw
Was a little quiet during school, a little mysterious
People either liked him or just really didn’t know him, mostly people from his own house liked him.
Excelled in academics and was at the top of his class and was viewed as the brightest wizard in his year, but sucked when it came to quidditch.
Really, really, really, really loved quidditch though and really wished he was good at it, but you can’t help some things.
Upon graduation he took up a position at the Ministry of Magic as the head of the Department of Mysteries
Worked extremely close with the Hall of Prophecy thanks to his gift of Divination (divination was his favorite course in Hogwarts)
Met you through work after becoming head of the Department of Mysteries
Your were the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement
You two had a meeting for damage control because a worker on the Hall of Prophecy managed to drop on of them and the even needed to be documented
You had a framed signature from a famous quidditch player on the wall that caught his attention after the meeting, which he pointed out and the two of you had a conversation about your shared love of quidditch
After that, he was hooked and asked you out on a date, which went well and the two of you were married a year or two later.
He would read your tea leaves or your palms about your future to impress you
It always impressed you and it will always impress you no matter how many times he would do it.
The two of you live in an apartment in London and will often go to the Leaky Couldron and Diagon Alley
The two of you would deck yourself out in your favorite teams for the quidditch World Cup, which includes painting your face
Tumblr media
Gryffindor 🦁
EXTREMELY popular in his Hogwarts years
Literally all the girls loved and pined after him, all the boys wanted to be him, and all the teachers were always impressed with his work.
Was the best seeker for the Gryffindor quidditch team
All around perfect student and he always seemed to do everything with so much ease and stress free
Always managed to dodge the love potions girls would try to slip him.
He met you one day while messing around with his friends at the lake skipping rocks, you were under the shade of a tree studying.
His friends went to start messing with you, which he soon told them too all ‘fuck off’ when he could tell that you were visibly annoyed with them.
Always hung out with you since then, becoming almost like your gaurdian angel
Upon graduation he struck a job being an Auror, you the potions master at hogwarts.
He was pretty dang awesome in his job and honestly everyone knew the amazing work he did as Auror, so he was pretty popular amongst the Aurors as well
He quit his job though to begin teaching the flying lessons to the first years at Hogwarts because he really did enjoy quidditch and flying
Also was in charge of quidditch as a whole
And he also just really missed you
He finally asked you out on a date towards the end of his first year of teaching at Hogwarts and you said yes, then towards the beginning of the next year, the two of you got married
The students love Keigo, he treats them as equals, mostly because he’s honestly not that much older than them and was in their position not to long ago.
Girls swoon over him and are low key jealous that you are married to him.
He likes to pop his head in to bother you during, or before and after your classes
Plays quick games of quidditch on the quidditch field with the house team that are practicing for fun
Will tug you into the potion’s closet for a quick kiss, despite how unprofessional you think it is

Aizawa of BNHA
I... think I might have a Opinions about Dadzawa.
Like, this keeps circling back to my feelings about teachers in general, so I’ll start by explaining that.
A teacher should care about their students. BUT, for all that they might be fond of them, their involvement in the students’ private-lives should only happen if either:
1 - The student has a private-life that is interfering with their ability to learn the things that the teacher is attempting to teach.
Examples could be “high stress” or “abuse” or “working too many hours” or “addiction”. Basically, things that mean that they show up for class unable to think about class.
The teacher’s response to this should be a level of “hey, is there something I can do to help you pass my class” and then (if “explaining or similarly helping them directly with the class-material” isn’t enough) aim them towards various things that might help them. (Examples: social-services, scholarship application forms, recovery-programs, etc.)
2 - The student is suffering from some form of abuse.
This isn’t a teacher’s duty specifically, but rather an adult’s duty. As in, it doesnt matter if you’re a teacher or a fast-food worker. If you’re an adult and you see abuse happening in front of you, then you should be trying to help them get out of that abusive situation.
Note however that teachers are in closer contact with a large group of students over a long period of time, and that they actually know their names. In light of that, they’re going to be more “responsible” for spotting abuse than the average fast-food worker who sees a parent being a dick to their child that one time.
So why does this impact my Opinions about Dadzawa?
Aizawa is a teacher who sees a seemingly self-destructive kid with a lot of complicated history with another much more aggressive child. His response should absolutely be to keep an eye on that situation, and possibly to reach out to their parents and their previous school about what the fuck is going on there.
However, Aizawa is also clearly overworked, and happens to be employed by a master-manipulator who’d gleefully accept the opportunity to investigate a school for any nasty shit that they might’ve pulled. It stands to reason then that Aizawa would accept that their previous school is giving him a lot of bullshit, and then just delegate investigating the whole mess to Nedzu.
Nedzu would of course ruin the school, but he’d be very careful to showcase why he was morally allowed to ruin the school. (He’d happily do it “just because he could”, but if he can phrase it as a matter of “moral importance” then everyone has to agree with his methods, and that’s more entertaining to him.)
In the meantime, Aizawa would keep an eye on the problem-children to keep anything from escalating further. And if he decided that it would be likely to help, then he would shove them both into therapy (because their antics might put themselves and others into danger, and that’s unacceptable).
In other words. Aizawa would make a brief attempt to figure out “what the fuck”, and then he’d shrug his shoulders and delegate that investigative shit to somebody else (again, he’s overworked and there’s like twenty different kids that he’s in charge of, so he can’t afford to dig too deeply into the lives of one of them, because investigating things like that takes time that he doesn’t have).
This is my problem with a lot of the “Dadzawa” fics.
They make him act as if the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of this one important kid. Where it’s of extreme importance that he drop everyone else that’s relying on him, for the sake of a single individual. And okay, if he’s a time-traveler he might’ve realized that Izuku is the protagonist or whatever, but as far as regular-Aizawa is concerned, any kid he encounters is going to be one amongst many.
Aizawa stumbles across a child-vigilante? Aizawa sighs and does his job to try to bring him in and/or keep him from dying. But he’s likely seen hundreds of kids like that. He’s not going to suddenly say “this kid is amazing and super-important”, he’s going to say “I’d hate to see another clever kid get killed off early”.
Aizawa realizes that one of his students has an abusive home-life? Aizawa frowns and makes plans for how to help the kid avoid going back home. Then he alerts social-services (and/or Nedzu) to make sure that the situation is resolved permanently. And then he carries on with his life of teaching his students to not-kill-themselves.
Aizawa realizes that one of his students is a former bully? Aizawa sits the student down and has a talk with them about what’s acceptable behavior at UA. Then Aizawa keeps an eye on them to make sure they don’t slip into old (bad) habits. If he determines (or vaguely guesses) that the bully was helped by an authority-figure in their bullying, he’s likely to just aim Nedzu at that authority-figure so that future kids won’t be affected by them.
Aizawa is told that one of his students is behaving in an unacceptable manner towards his other students? Aizawa grabs them, sits them down to interrogate them, offers some kind of ultimatum, and is likely to expel them unless they shape-up.
(Interestingly, nobody actually seems to complain about Mineta in canon. Admittedly, that’s likely because he’s someone the author identifies with deeply, but considering that there’s also an “18+ Hero” working at a school for kids, it’s likely that their culture is... kind of messed-up, yes, but also very different from ours on things like that. Possibly because of the whole “sex sells”-thing, meaning that they’re basically students going into a profession where they’re expected to get objectified by the general public. But yeah. Tangent.)

The Kids Aren’t Alright
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are several things wrong with Bakugo’s mindset in the most recent chapters, and I think they can all be effectively summed up in this image.
Bakugo’s focus is still being stronger than the bad guys, rather than on saving people. It’s still all about winning to him.
Bakugo makes a selfish and bull headed decision to charge right into danger due to his own personal trauma.
Bakugo’s trauma is still unresolved. Rather than coming to terms with what happened to him, he’s still stuck in the mindset that if he had just been stronger then the traumatizing incident would never have ahppened to him. He’s literally in a sense fighting his trauma and trying to punch it in the face rather than processing his feelings.
I’ll go more in depth under the cut.
1. The Kids Aren’t Alright
The decision to charge after Shigaraki reflects poorly on both Bakugo and Deku’s characters, and shows character regression for both of them. There’s a difference between being heroic, and making a suicide charge and the difference lies in every single person telling Deku and Bakugo not to run at Shigaraki, and the both of them blatant ignoring that sound and logical advice.
This arc so far has been about the regression of the heroes. This applies not only to the professional heroes, but also the next generation who are set up to fix the flaws of the previous generation. However, and I hope this is what Horikoshi is setting up, it’s impossible to fix those flaws if the characters don’t even see those flaws in the first place. We are shown several times characters carrying a serious case of hero worship that blinds them tot he faults of their mentors.
Tumblr media
When asked to think for himself by the villain, Tokoyami’s black and white vision of heroics is so extreme that he can’t even criticize Hawks. Hawks had to have been right, because the heroes are always right in the end. The fact that the heroes are above criticism at all times prevents the next generation from learning of their faults.
Tumblr media
This is also something that has been set up previously, All Might keeps secrets from Deku like his fallout with Nighteye because he was afraid it would make him look bad to his protege. Bakugo has been shown to have a completely different interpretation of All Might than Deku, to the point where it was called into question what he saw in All Might might have been wrong.
Tumblr media
Bakugo was set up to learn something, and he didn’t, and that’s character regression. Characters don’t always move forward, sometimes they stall, or even fall back. If this arc really is about the regression of hero society than it makes sense that this conflict is completely unresolved. As you said, Eraserhead and All Might both said they needed to do more to address Bakugo’s trauma about being kidnapped, and taking the blame for All Might’s end and yet six months later he is still blaming himself.
Tumblr media
The reason Bakugo is holding onto his feelings all this time is a complicated one and has entirely to do how Bakugo copes with his trauma. This has been a running theme with Bakugo since the beginning of the manga. Bakugo reflects the ideas of hero society, and because Bakugo believes himself to be strong due to having a flashy quirk, he thinks there is no situation where he should feel weak. He always assumes he can overcome everything simply by getting stronger, and trying harder. It’s why the expectations on him are so monumentally high.
This is not only an idea that Bakugo has of himself, he’s also treated this way by everyone around him. When he’s kidnapped by a villain nobody stops to check if he’s okay, they just compliment him on his quirk and say how strong he was. Because he is strong he is expected to always be strong. To the point where Bakugo’s kidnapping on live television is brought up as a point of embarrassment and shame for him, rather than a point where he nearly died.
Tumblr media
Bakugo has internalized this idea that he can’t let anyone make him feel weak, and he can’t feel weak ever, due to the way people around him are always treating, and also his own personal failure at learning how to process his emotions. In the past Bakugo projected his feelings of weakness onto Deku and beat him up rather than try to address his own personal failings.
Tumblr media
Bakugo is strong, so Deku has to be weak. Bakugo is important, so Deku has to be a pebble of the side of the road. It’s also a repeat of the same biases that hero society has shown him, Bakugo gets special treatment because he has a strong quirk, Deku is put down because he’s quirkless.
All of these unhealthy attitudes have been passed onto Bakugo and it’s left him completely unable to process his trauma. In his book if he was strong he never would have gotten kidnapped in the first place. Therefore, the only way for him to solve the problem is to get stronger. To simplify, a lot of times trauma is about control. Being kidnapped by villains meant Bakugo was completely out of control in the situation. He’d always like to imagine he’s in control, and capable of winning if he’s strong enough. Even when he was kidnapped, Bakugo kept acting like all he needed was for them to drop their guard down and he would escape. He couldn’t even admit to himself that he was scared and in need of saving.
The key to that involves admitting that he’s not in control, admitting to his weakness, but Bakugo does not want to do that so instead he’s just gotten stronger and stronger. However, Bakugo negatively foils another character who was unable to admit to his weakness and because of that hurt everyone around him.
Tumblr media
Endeavor and Bakugo reflect one another in that they both have super unhealthy attitudes in regards to their own strength. This is also a parallel that was deliberately set up by the plot.
Tumblr media
All Might compared him and Endeavor as similiar heroes, and Bakugo even directly said he came here to reflect on the differences between him and Endeavor and how he can be better, and Bakugo just didn’t do that. We see the reason he didn’t as well, he was so fixated on strength that he thought he was done growing when he beat up a bad guy faster than Endeavor for once.
Tumblr media
Bakugo’s goal was once again focused entirely in developing his own strength, not caring about his emotional development at all. And so we see, Bakugo has literally no reaction to learning that Endeavor could have murdered his own son, but he reacts this much to just being faster than Endeavor. Bakugo’s priorities are still entirely on physical strength and not emotional strength because due to trauma he thinks if he were just physically strong he would have overcome that situation. Thus he regresses.
2.  Oh No, You’re Just Another Brick in the Wall
The kids are failing to learn lessons but also adults are failing to teach them. There are several instances of this in this arc alone, and in the leadup to this arc. As you said, Eraserhead had like six months to work with Bakugo, and Bakugo still feels like it’s his fault that All Might retired and he has to fix it, so clearly Eraserhead did nothing.
Tumblr media
All Might is someone who has noticed the similarity between Bakugo and Enji but fails completely to notice Endeavor’s flaws, and how those things make him a bad hero. Not only does Bakugo still hold onto the idea that physical strength is what matters most over emotional strength, but every hero around him believes that as well.
Tumblr media
The Public Hero Safety Commission is forcing the kids into internships. Endeavor only starts mentoring the kids because the hero safety commission says it’s in his best interest. The healthy development of the children is not their number one priority here, but rather how they can be used as soldiers for the upcoming battlefield. Soldiers don’t need have well-developed emotions, they just need to be strong, and fight the thing you tell them to fight.
Tumblr media
Every single adult hero in the system, including Hawks who is a child soldier himself seems to think that physical strength means that it’s okay to put literal teenagers on a battlefield where extremely dangerous serial killers are going to try to kill them, and yes it’s different from normal hero work because normal hero work heroes are not allowed to kill no matter what. It’s been made clear several times already this arc is a war zone, and heroes are fighting for life or death stakes with killing intent towards the villains.
Bakugo’s failure of growth also represents a failure on the part of the heroes because he actually shares several flaws in common with his mentors. Aizawa and Bakugo have the exact same trauma response. The reason they lose, and lose people is simply because they weren’t strong enough. They take all of the blame on themselves.
Tumblr media
Aizawa admits that people have died saving his life, but his survivor’s guilt is too much for him to bear. So, he tries to fix his trauma in the way that Bakugo does. He tries to simply be stronger. If he’s stronger next time then he won’t lose, and he’ll never have to lose anyone ever again.
Tumblr media
Not only is Aizawa’s power fantasy a bad way to handle his emotions because he’s disrespecting the sacrifices of both Crustle and Oboro who wanted him to live (he’s even going so far as to totally disrespect Oboro who is still alive as Kurogiri, by destroying his precious student he looked after like a lost kitten. In other words Aizawa is killing the cat rather than saving it.) It’s not actually about them, it’s about Aizawa’s own feelings of hurt. Just like Bakugo’s bullying, his obsessive quest to be stronger, are all about his own hurt feelings and not what’s best for others. Not only is he failing to come to terms with his own feelings he’s also decidedly unheroic.
Aizawa’s interest is not in saving someone, but rather revenge. Like he’s the Dark Knight or the Punisher. Aizawa’s positive qualities all lie in how he can understand the needs of children, and take care of them, and yet he’s doing the opposite of that in trying to kill an abused child.
Tumblr media
Aizawa’s completely tunnel visioned view of the world (just like Bakugo’s) also leads to his own hypocrisy. He needs to live, and he thinks dying is the worst thing of all so he tries to teach students that simply throwing your life away isn’t heroic - and yet here he is making a suicide charge five seconds after his life was saved. He wants to protect his students, but he also lets the Hero Commission bring a bunch of sixteen year olds who have not been properly informed or consented to this at all (and legally cannot consent) to a warzone where people are trying to kill them.
Aizawa fails to notice the flaws in hero society and correct them, and because of this while he’s talking about how he would do anything to protect his students, Bakugo and Deku disobey direct orders to run away from Shigaraki, and charge straight at him in a suicide charge. Bakugo has failed to learn his lesson, and Aizawa has failed to teach it, and if it continues this way Hero Society can’t improve it will only stagnate.

The Problem Children of Class 1-A
The Problem Children of Class 1-A by Cat o pillow
In a world that has yet to fully recover from the sharp drop in population of the Era of Chaos, society is not keen on seeing girls put themselves in danger. Whereas heroes became accepted by the public, the same could not be said about the profession of heroine.
And even though rules have changed ever since All Might's rise as Symbol of Peace, public opinion is slow in seeing female heroes for what they could be. A tiny quirkless girl like Izuku? Nobody believes her to have a place amongst the ranks of heroes.
But when an encounter with a villain and a hero suddenly derails her everyday life, it will trigger events far more far-reaching than just getting to prove more than one assumption about her wrong.
A problem child she very well may be, but if there is one thing she can teach the world, it's that problem children make the greatest heroes. Or the greatest heroine.

——————————————
Summary: As a newer goddess you think back on how you got to where you are; in the throne room sitting next to your husband, the god of the dead.
Pairing: Hades!Aizawa x fem!reader, DadNyx!Izuku x fem!reader platonic, MomSelene!Uraraka x reader platonic.
Warnings: If you know Greek mythology I did some s*x references kinda, talks about getting pregnant, animals in distress slightly, mentions of skeletons and ghosts, arguing with parents, and a whole lotta fluff…
Word Count: 1,878
A/N: First official chapter! I wanted to give some background first before we jumped right into the ship making with aizawa himself! Please respect that I used Uraraka and Izuku for a ship, there will be other ships in here too but that doesn’t mean I disrespect anyone’s ships! I just used it for the fic! If you have any questions about the fic ask box is open = ) Happy Sunday 💓
Tumblr media
—————————————————————————
To begin the story you have to go back to the beginning of how it started, how the little goddess of monsters became even a thought. Y/N was the daughter, Nyx, also known as Izuku, and Selene, who goes by Uraraka. Now the mortals always come up with their stories and names for the gods that they worship. Of course everyone that the God of the night was a female and nicknamed him Nyx, even his statues had a women’s figure making him widely teased by the other gods. His wife on the other hand, found it endearing. She thought he must have been kind hearted if thought as a female since all the other gods always make themselves… known... Uraraka loved Izuku as soon as she met him, they went together like peanut butter and jelly. She’s his moon, and he’s her everlasting night, and she loves the night. For years they worked together, Izuku holding Uraraka as they made beautiful night skies that took mortals and even gods, breathes away. Together they watched olympus and the mortal world grow, yet the time came when Uraraka grew sad and began hiding the moon away from the mortals and gods. Of course, this worried her lover who noticed every little about her, after another moonless night he entered their beautiful cabin, going straight to their shared room
“Darling what’s wrong? Without your moon and stars, my darkness has been nothing.” Izuku brushed her brown hair back, making her sigh and meet his eyes “I went and visited our friend Shoto, and of course his mother rei was there…. I just- got jealous… Izu- She has 4 children! All of which admire her, and I have none…” Her voice mimicked a whispered as her hands rested on her flat and childless womb, a silver tear falling down her cheek “I want a child Izuku… a child with you.”
The loving god felt his breath hitch in his throat, thoughts racing through his mind before he started laughing, his cheeks turning rosy and eyes wrinkling before he cupped her cheeks and kissed her “We will go tomorrow to Queen Rei and get blessed by the goddess of birth herself! Of course I want a child, you should have told me sooner!” He laughed out, picking the small girl up and spinning her around “I promise that you will have a child in your arms soon.” Izuku rested his forehead on Uraraka’s as she smiled with now happy tears running down her chubby cheeks, automatically squeezing her husband into a tight hug
“I love you- I love you so much…” Uraraka cried out, kissing all over Izuku’s face “I love you too…”
*•*
Uraraka leaned on izuku's shoulder, both of them watching their sleeping newborn. A smile danced on (y/sc) face as you subconsciously gripped onto Izuku’s finger. “Izu… she’s so small… are little goddesses supposed to be this small?” The new father laughed, his eyes never leaving his daughter “Our little goddess of creatures of the night may be small, but she's going to have a ferocious bite for anyone who tries to challenge her. I can tell.”
Stirring lightly, you made a tiny sound making both of them in high alert, Izuku looking around and Uraraka clutching you to her chest “False alarm… she just- made the sound?” Izuku questioned, as he stared at Y/N “Babies are-” Uraraka cut Izuku off and nodded “Unusual, but we will work it out! Especially if we go to Queen Rei and Nemuri, I mean Nemuri does have a lot of children” Uraraka started thinking, wondering if maybe she could take baby classes for baby goddesses
Lost in her thoughts she was slightly startled by the hands placed on her shoulders and she immediately looked up at her smiling husband “We will figure this out together… let’s go to bed for now, because I’ve heard that she won’t stay asleep for long” Nodding, Uraraka moved so the small newborn rested peacefully in her starry night decorated cradle that was placed next to the couples bed. “Goodnight My little star…” Y/N mother whispered to her before getting into bed herself, instantly being wrapped into Izuku’s warmth.

5 Years Old
You may have been young, but your powers were strong. At just 5 years old you were bringing frog/bat hybrids to your parents that should have never been able to exist. Today was no different as you hopped along in the forest made to your parents liking, you stumbled upon an injured owl that reminded you of Fuyumi, a woman who has been teaching you since she was trusted by your parents. Apparently she blessed you at birth so you grew wise yourself and caught on fast to the lessons you were taught. So when you saw the owl, you knew you couldn’t possibly let it suffer all alone “What happened Mr owl? Did someone do this to you? You can tell me! My father said that he will take care of any mean people!”
Sadly, even with all that knowledge your imagination still ran wild, as the bird could not communicate with you… yet. The owl just tilted its head at you making out a broken coo, before its head turned around and spotted a raccoon. With a bright idea you ran and caught the raccoon, which really wasn’t hard since the animals loved you, and brought it over to the owl. “Don’t worry, it’s gonna be worth it in the end!”
You placed your hands on both animals, eyes turning purple as the wind picked up and purple rays swirled around the animals. Panicking, the raccoon and owl made sounds of alert since they didn’t understand what was going on as they floated in the air, but it ended soon when you caught your new little hybrid in your arms “EEK! You’re so cute!! I think I’m gonna keep you… only if momma and father say I can” Your lip pouted slightly as you huffed but nonetheless started running home, wanting to show your parents what you made
*•*
10 Years Old
“Why do I have to go away with Aunty Momo?! It’s not fair momma!” You cried as you stomped your foot, growing older only meant your powers growing stronger. Since it was a lot like what Demeter could do, your parents were sending you to the mortal realm so you could see how she works with her power and strength “Y/N, this isn’t about sending you away… it’s about making sure you won’t get hurt if you lose control. Know that we are doing this for your own good!” Izuku tried reasoning with you but your doe (e/c) that were filled with tears pained him
“Am I dangerous?” A small whimper left your lips as the question left your parents speechless, Uraraka standing up and tackling you in her embrace “No! You’re not dangerous my little star! A lot of children like you had to learn to control their power, me and your father also had to learn to control our powers! But- we just aren’t the right ones to teach you…” As the sentence went on, your mother's words went to a mumble and your father put a hand on her shoulder and one on your head as he kissed both of your heads
“We love you so much… you are the best thing we ever created. Remember that” Izuku whispered, only getting a silent nod in return
*•*
15 Years Old
It had been 5 years since you were sent to the mortal realm. 5 years and you realize now what your parents meant before sending you off. You couldn’t wait to get home. There was still time to go to school and study a bit more before officially doing your Olympian duties, so of course you wanted to take advantage of that. Running up to the familiar house you didn’t even get the chance to reach the door before two familiar faces came running out and tackling you in a hug “Mamma! Father! I’m sorry for before and throwing such a fit… I realize now- and- I love you guys… I’m so sorry I treated you like I did.” You sobbed out your apology before they could even speak, gripping onto them like you would leave again
“You were still a child Y/N…. you have nothing to be sorry for. You’re here now and you’ve grown so much!” Izuku had tears streaming down his face as he cupped your own “Just look at you! I’m gonna have to fight Enji so he doesn’t marry you off to any of his sons.” *He sniffled, making you chuckle* “I promise that won’t happen father” Your response only made the poor man cry more, making your mother step in
“My not so little anymore star… your father's right, you’re going to be the hottest thing next to Nemuri. Since we all know, no one will ever dare top the goddess of beauty herself.” Uraraka’s statement made you blush as you looked away “Mamma! Don’t say such things, she’s also the goddess of love, remember? I would like to have something like you and father have one day, and I’ll need her help so I can’t have her hating me!” The moon goddess just laughed at your statement patting your cheek “Don’t fear us old ones okay? It’s you newcomers that should be feared”
*•*
20 Years Old
“Do you have your papers?” You nod in confirmation as you watch your father scatter about, making sure that everything is perfect for your first day in the underworld, aka your first time meeting hades “Y/N where is the gift-” Izuku was cut off by you holding said gift in front of his face “Father, don’t worry… how bad can one meeting turn out?”
Honestly, you were more than ready to get started on your duties as a goddess, more importantly, you were more than ready to get started working in the underworld. Sure the place had skeletons and ghosts, but it didn’t have true monsters, that’s where you come in. Smiling, you looked down at the small three headed cat and cooed “You’ll be good to the king won’t you? I almost don’t want to give you up… such a beautiful creature” You sighed as said cat purred against your hand “Y/N! C'mon we have to go!!” Groaning as you heard your father's panicked voice you got up and met him “Well let’s go old man, what are you waiting for?”

Quirk Questions 2: Electric Boogaloo
Followup to this post, inspired by this series. Once again, this is all just for fun
World Building
Is EVERY teacher at UA a pro hero? UA isn’t just a hero school, they have Business courses, Support courses, and General Studies. While we know support kids have a pro teacher (Mr Powerloader), and I could see the Business kids MAYBE having a pro, I thought it was implied that General Studies is totally unrelated to hero work. So do they just have random pros teaching them? Or do they get actual teachers?
-
What the heck do copyright laws look like regarding a hero’s name? I understand Iida taking “Ingenium” because it’s a family thing, but Deku legit though that “Super All Might” and “All Might Jr” would be acceptable. And Red Riot is OBVIOUSLY copying Crimson Riot, so where does it become ok?
Building off of that point, how about hero names in relation to other pieces of media? Eraserhead is the name of an ACTUAL FILM but Aizawa is allowed to use it no problem, so does that logic apply to fictional characters? Deku implies that comics and stuff existed before quirks, and that their world was essentially identical to ours, so at one point were there heroes that named themselves after fictional comic characters like Iron Man and Wonder Woman? Mina even tries naming herself “Alien Queen” and the issue isn’t “that’s from a movie”, it’s that it’s too scary.
-
It’s unclear who gives quirks their names, but judging by the fact that Endeavour’s quirk is canonically called “Hellflame”, I can guess that the person chooses the name themselves. Question is, do your children have to use the same name you chose? Like certain things are easy, Bakugo’s kid probably wouldn’t change “explosion” because it’s very on-the-nose. But if Endeavour had a kid that made orange fire just like him, would that kid be forced to call their quirk “Hellflame” too? Or could they opt to just call it “fire”.
-
Does hair colour actually have any bearing on what quirk a child gets? Using the Todoroki’s as an example, the one’s with (mostly) white hair got ice quirks, Shoto has his hair split down the middle with ice on the white side and fire on the red, and Touya had with red hair and a fire quirk. We also saw this is Jiro, since she has her mom’s hair colour AND quirk. So, in universe, can parents guess their kid’s quirk based on which hair/physical traits they got?
Bakugo
Does Bakugo just leave nitroglycerin everywhere he goes? And isn’t that dangerous? What happens if he’s on the subway, gets some sweat on the pole, and then someone with an activated flame/heat quirk touches it? Would he get in trouble for the ensuing explosion? Has this ever happened??? In the movie “Two Heroes” we see Todoroki ignite some of Bakugo’s sweat, so we know it can be activated by other heat sources. I just feel like that’s SO DANGEROUS.
-
Similar to the previous question, but what about the food he cooks? I’d hope he washes his hands, but if some sweat manages to get in some bread dough (for example), and then he puts it in the oven, wouldn’t that cause an explosion?
Best Jeanist
Best Jeanist controls clothing fibres, but that’s really vague. Can he control the fibres of a wool sweater? And if so, where is the line? Can he control wool while it’s still on the sheep?
-
Mirio’s costume is said to be made out of his hair, so could Best Jeanist control it? It’s clothing, but it’s not clothing fibre.
Twice
In my previous post, I wondered if a clone of Hagakure would turn into visible mud upon destruction. But now I’m wondering: could he even make a clone of her in the first place? He can’t technically see her, so he’s missing the visual component, and even if he got exact measurements there’s no way for him to know details like face shape.
Followup, I guess technically he could cover her with paint and then clone her, but the manga says that the clones come out in the same state as when he took the measurements, meaning the clone would be covered in paint. However, could that clone wash off the paint and then be invisible?
-
Can Twice make a clone of someone if he doesn’t know their quirk? He says he needs as much information as possible, “you name it, I need it” but does that translate to things like quirk information? And if it IS possible to make a clone without knowing the quirk, will the clone possess it anyways?
-
How long do the clones last if they aren’t destroyed. He says his clones were hanging around for 9 days, so could he just send one out into the world to live its life? And if it lasted long enough without getting destroyed, would it age?
-
How EXACTLY is Twice aware of the state of his clones? He berates Dabi for his clone getting taken out “by a magic scarf” but like... how did he know that? I can assume he felt the clone get destroyed (like some sort of intuition), but how’d he know the details of the scarf? Can he see through their eyes or something?
Assorted
If Hagakure gets cut, is her blood visible? And are her... other bodily fluids visible? (She’s running around naked, this is something she should think about at least once a month).
-
You know that dude who worked with Overhaul who could “steal things people have equipped”? Where the hell is that line drawn? He’s able to steal the stuff Tamaki manifests ON HIS BODY, but what else is considered stealable? Could he steal Twice’s clones? Could he steal fire? Could he steal clothes? Could he steal clothes and drag the person along with them?!?! Like Aizawa’s scarf is a perfect example. Technically it’s a weapon he has “equipped”, but it’s also wrapped around his neck. If he tried to steal it, would it drag Aizawa long with it? How about weapons that are strapped to the body like Kaminari’s aiming disks?
-
You think Shigaraki ever just... accidentally disintegrates his clothes in public? Like, he has no control over his quirk. You think he ever just accidentally put his hands in his pockets, accidentally touches the fabric, and then boom his hoodie is gone.

BNHA Fic Idea. Shouta and Hizashi end up with a bunch of brats all the while trying to keep the gov and pro-heroes in their employ from finding out! People with dangerous quirks are supposed to be separated from society until they prove they aren’t dangerous anymore! Even if that’s fairly impossible.
Aizawa is 5 when the gov first begins to implement The Program.
The Program, is meant to ensure that people with dangerous quirks are accounted for. Children, especially those who seem to struggle with their quirks are the ones that end up in the most danger due to The Program.
Heroes quickly back The Program to avoid any potential backlash and/or being named a threat, their hero license revoked, all that jazz.
The Program, is supposedly one where people who are a danger to society are taken to school’s (read prisons) and trained to better control their abilities. The majority of these people are children, the parents are afforded no rights to seeing their child or even knowing what is happening to them.
Once a child is taken the parents lose any and all rights they had to the child.
After a time, people begin to notice that the people that are taken are never seen again. Even at the point where as adults they should be released at least into the actual prison system that all villains or criminals go to.
Aizawa is 8 when he is taken. His parents give him willingly after calling in that his quirk is dangerous and claiming he struggles with control. (Aizawa does not struggle with control, that is a lie. And besides his parents wouldn’t know, they kept him blindfolded.)
He’s taken too one of the school’s, there he is kept blindfolded as the guards, all of whom have quirks meant to ensure their safety from the “dangerous children”, are afraid that if he “takes” their quirks the children will escape.
When he’s 10 he’s put in a “room” (read cell) with another boy. The other boy can see, and for the first few months he can speak but one of the “instructors” decides that he should be muzzled to ensure he isn’t a risk to anyone else.
By now, Aizawa and Hizashi are attached. Like, they would die for each other, and Aizawa has never even seen his face.
Aizawa only has the blind fold removed in situations where they are testing his quirk. Generally, this means he is strapped down and surrounded by guards before it is removed.
Aizawa and Hizashi get a reputation for fighting back whenever the guards or instructors pick on other kids who aren’t willing too.
At the same time they begin trying to teach themselves enough to get by when they get out, and begin coming up with a plan to escape.
When they’re 15 they finally escape. In the end, they escape when they’re being transferred along with a 15 year old girl named Nemuri and pair of 12 years olds named Tenko and Touya, to a more secure location because they are told that they’ll be separated.
A few months after they escape, they find a couple of kids. And then a few more, and then some more. They end up with most of 1-A, Eri, Hitoshi, etc. Tenko begins going by Tomura and Touya goes by Dabi.
One day the two come back with another teen their age named Hawks who they found hiding in an abandoned warehouse they were scouting for the kids.
After a while they come up with a plan. Teach the kids as much as they can in the hopes they can get them into a school when they’re older, and keep them as far away from any heroes attention as possible.
The kids know to only ever use their quirks when it's absolutely necessary.
The Hero Community is beginning to decline, this is caused by a lack of talent entering into hero schools. Partially because they are afraid of being taken, and because those with quirks that may be geared towards hero work have already been taken or are in hiding.
All Might has argued against the Program since its creation and is still arguing it even though he legally can’t do anything to help people.
The three eldest have managed to somewhat come up with jobs. Dabi and Tomura aren’t allowed to even try as they have decided that they need to be free to watch the kids if anything happens. Hawks who is half a year older is supposed to stay as hidden as possible at all times.
They move between abandoned warehouses to keep from being seen.
The kids have decided they want to try for UA and hopefully become heroes. Their main goal, is that once they’ve become heroes they will be able to end the Program.

TodoDeku Hunger Games AU
The Hunger Games are a battle to the death between 24 tributes from the ages of 12 to 18 where they compete for the title of Victor so they can bring resources to their district. The tribute that wins is awarded money, fame, and a house in the Victor’s village provided by the Capital.
I have 2 ideas for this AU.
  Idea 1:
Izuku lives in District 12, which is the poorest district out of the 12 in the country. His father was killed in a mining accident, leaving his family in poverty and despair. Inko did her best to provide for Izuku, but resources were scarce. She adopted Kouta Izumi after his parents died in the same mining accident and she has taken care of her two boys since. Izuku has worked odd jobs and has developed physical strength because of it, lifting heavy objects and doing other sorts of strength-related work to make some extra money. Inko has been keeping an apothecary and has helped others with injuries, teaching Izuku and Kouta about first aid and medicine so they know how to do this, too, someday. Izuku has put in his name for reaping a few extra times to obtain more resources for his family since he was 12, despite his mother begging him not to do so as doing this would just increase his chances of getting reaped for the Games. He doesn’t want Kouta to do this, though, because he doesn’t want his little brother to get picked.
The day of the reaping arrives and Kouta is nervous, and Izuku tries his best to calm him down.  It’s his first reaping so obviously he’s nervous. When it’s time to pick the names of the kids who will get reaped, Kouta’s name is drawn and Izuku’s heart stops. His body moves before he has a chance to think and rushes forward, calling out to him in desperation. He volunteers to take Kouta’s place in the Games and Kouta is spared, but Izuku has to go now.
Inko is obviously devastated, but Izuku tries to cheer her up the best he can. Kouta tells him he needs to win and Izuku makes the promise that he will.
I don’t know who to pick as the female tribute because she will have to die. I don’t want to kill anyone from class 1A. I dont’ have that kind of heart.
Anyways, Izuku and the female tribute go to the train that will take them to the Capital and they meet Toshinori, their mentor for the Games. He won 24 years ago and their district hasn’t had a victor since. That means all of Toshi’s tributes have died in the Games and his hope is fragile. But he sees potential in Izuku, at least, and he has to give more support to one tribute over the other so that at least one of them can win. Izuku is sturdy and strong, and has a good chance at winning.
He gets A LOT of attention because he has been the first person to volunteer for the Games in decades so it’s a really big deal. He has a lot of guts. He looks scared and upset, but he’s doing it for Kouta. He has to win for him.
I haven’t thought of who his stylist will be (the person that makes him look good and groomed for the camera), but I was thinking maybe Aizawa. But I need someone who would motivate Izuku. Katniss’ whole deal is that she is the Girl on Fire because she bursts into flames during the Tribute Parade along with Peeta. But idk if Izuku will do something like this…it has to be a big impact.
Anyways, there’s the tributes parade where all of the tributes go on a parade to showcase their district. Izuku has to look amazing so he can entice hope in people. He has been the first volunteer, so that can’t go to waste. I would imagine that he has an effect of electricity like full cowling, so that would be lit.
After the parade, he and his fellow tribute are being praised by Toshi, but he guides them away from the grounds because another tribute has his eye on Izuku and that’s dangerous. Izuku getting singled out is not good because that means other tributes will target him. The one looking at Izuku with an intense gaze is Shouto, a tribute from District 2, which is one of the richer and stronger districts, and they are usually Careers. Shouto has been trained from childhood to be a Career by his Victor father, Enji, who won his Games 20 years ago. Enji was brutal and wanted for his children to be Victors, too. Shouto gave him the most promising results and so when he was reaped, Shouto had the highest chance out of everyone to win because he’s a skilled archer.
The tributes have to go to training sessions to practice with weapons and learn new skills. Toshinori advises Izuku not to show off his strength so that way he isn’t singled out again by other careers, seeing as how one has already analyzed him. During these trainings, Izuku learns different skills like knot tying, camouflage, starting fires, setting snares, survival skills. He’s already really good with picking out plants and herbs thanks to his mom’s apothecary business, so he’s very skilled in that aspect. He’s just trying not to show off his strength.
He’s practicing with some net stuff (in the movie, Peeta falls from a net his climbing and he falls), and falls, and the careers laugh at him because of that. Izuku brushes it off, trying to ignore them, but then Shouto approaches him and helps him up. And he tells him to throw the medicine ball that’s beside the weights. Izuku doesn’t even know this boy, yet he’s telling him what to do. Izuku does this and throws the medicine ball (heavy shit heavy s h i t), and that makes the careers shut up. After that, Shouto and Izuku talk and practice stuff and hover over each other, even if Shouto makes Izuku nervous. He doesn’t quite trust Shouto yet, but Shouto is not being hostile, at least he’s good at acting decent.
I feel like I should make Shouto challenge him, though, but Idk how to do that. Maybe he could challenge him when he sees hi m in the parade, but idk. I want them to have a neutral relationship from the start. Or, I could have him challenge him and when they’re in the Games and they’re trying to kill each other, Izuku saves Shouto and Shouto values that and agrees to work with Izuku.
But it’s hard to do that when the interviews come before the Games. And I want for the interviews to give a huge impact. Each tribute is interviewed to speak about themselves. Shouto is handsome and everyone loves him and the interviewer (probably Mic) brings up Shouto’s father being a Victor and asks him if he’s going to follow up with his own victory. Shouto answers that he hopes so, …even though there is another tribute that he really likes and even has a crush on them. This leaves the audience wondering who he has feelings for.
Izuku’s interview is heartwarming because he’s nervous and down to earth and Mic brings up his volunteering for his little brother and Izuku goes off on how much he cares about Kouta and how he will try to win just for him.
The Games start and Izuku has to get resources, but if he goes to the Cornucopia, he will get killed trying to get a weapon. He manages to snag a backpack and escapes being pursued by the other tributes (he runs really fast, this boy is Speedy Gonzalez goodbye). I would imagine he has agreed to work together with his fellow tribute and Shouto, and they all agree to meet up somewhere if they can.
Shouto, on the other hand, is a total beast and manages to snag a few weapons as well as another backpack. He gets his bow and arrow and oof there he goes. It takes a day or two for them to finally meet up, but Izuku is being pursued by the Careers when Shouto arrives and kills one of them. I’m trying to have that big “It’s your power!” equivalent to this, but idk how to do that. Maybe Shouto sets fire to their resources of something. Using fire was how his father won and would probably be called the Flame Victor or something. So Shouto can use this as a weapon, too, idk.
Izuku and Shouto manage to get away from the rest of the careers. However, Shouto gets hurt and Izuku has to carry him away.
There has to be a child that reminds Izuku of Kouta, and it hurts my heart to pick Eri because she’s so smol, but Izuku will team up with her and protect her. Maybe…she can be his fellow tribute. Unfortunately, she gets killed. This is before Izuku and Shouto meet up btw. Izuku will feel horrible for not being able to save her and makes a makeshift funeral for her by laying flowers and decorating her hair. He’s devastated and cries and feels very depressed about it. There is an announcement that says that 2 tributes can go home together even if they are not from the same district. As long as they are working together, they can win.
So after Izuku and Shouto rescue each other and find each other, Izuku finds a good cave where they can rest and hide. Shouto has a fever and in his delirium, admits he was talking about Izuku when he said he has a crush on someone. Izuku is shocked and flattered and oh m y God, he has a crush on Izuku. Izuku.exe has stopped working. But he can’t fall in love when he’s trying to survive so what can he do???
This whole romance? The Capital is eating it up so good that there are sponsors lining up for Toshinori to send Izuku and Shouto resources. Enji is really angry about this turn out but at least his son is getting sponsors, too. Enji does not want to work together with Toshinori, but they have to since their kids are in this together for now.
As Izuku takes care of Shouto (thank goodness he knows about healing and medical stuff), they share a kiss and Izuku feels so light and oh God, he just kissed Shouto. The kiss garners them a lot more sponsors and they send them medicine and food that saves their lives. The medicine heals Shouto’s injury and the food gets them through a few days until Shouto recovers. Once they are able to get back on their feet and go again, it’s getting towards the end of the Games and they have to fight whoever is left.
Now Idk who the last tribute could be. He has to be stronger than Izuku and Shouto. My money is on Inasa just because I don’t like him. And I’m saving Katsuki to fit Gale, who is Katniss’ hunting friend. Gale takes care of Katniss’ family while she is in the Games. He also kinda likes her, but she never develops feelings for him. Anyways, yeah, in this au, Katsuki doesn’t like Izuku like that. They’re just friends who have worked together and know each other since childhood. Katsuki looks out for Inko and Kouta while Izuku is away. So yeah, Inasa fits Cato…because they’re both overly zealous and obsessive. So Shouto and Izuku have to fight Inasa. Izuku and Inasa wrestle each other (OH NOW I REMEMBER WHAT PEETA USED TO DO, HE USED TO WRESTLE) and Izuku is winning, but Inasa manages to pin him and so Shouto has to get a clean shot so he doesn’t kill them both. He manages to shoot Inasa and spare Izuku and Inasa falls off the Cornucopia where the mutant dogs are waiting for them. And you could just…imagine how that goes, he gets bitten and basically eaten. He begs to be killed and so Shouto kills him to end his suffering.
When Shouto and Izuku are the only ones left, there is an announcement saying that only one person can be the victor and now Izuku and Shouto must fight to the death for the title. Except they don’t want to do that. Shouto throws his bow and arrow to the ground and tells Izuku to kill him so that Izuku can go home. But Izuku refuses to do that. They had gathered wild berries called nightlock, which are poisonous, and Izuku suggest they eat them to commit suicide instead of one of them dying while the other one lives. Izuku couldn’t bear going home knowing Shouto was dead. And Shouto couldn’t do the same.
So they are about to eat the berries when the announcer stops them and declares them as Victors. 2 districts with a victor each ohmg!
This is dangerous because Izuku has caused a rebellion by refusing to play by the Games’ rules and win by their standards. Toshinori warns him to be careful because he will be watched carefully now. Shouto and Izuku are interviewed because they won and their romance gets more attention than what they did in the Games, which is good for them in a way…but also bad because the districts want to rebel. If Izuku, a boy from the poorest district could rebel, why not the rest of the districts?
So that’s why there’s the 75th hunger games where they get reaped again and have to be in the games with former victors.
Because Shouto is from a different district, he has to go back to his district by law. However, because he won with Izuku and they are “in love”, Shouto is allowed to move to Izuku’s district and live in the Victor’s village from district 12. This obviously angers Enji, but it’s something Shouto actually wanted.
Izuku and Shouto do like each other, but the tension of the Games and the politics is so much and they don’t know how to handle it. They are still close and amicable and support each other and they’re romantic, but Izuku is still confused because it was so sudden and he wasn’t able to explore his feelings. He trusts Shouto and has feelings for him. He just wants to fall in love with him properly.
They announce an engagement to appease the Capital so they can back off, but the districts are rebelling and using Izuku as a symbol of peace for their rebellion, something Izuku silently supports, but cannot speak about it out loud. The President wants him dead so that’s why they get the 75th hunger games with all the past victors. Because there are no female victors in district 12, 2 male victors must represent the district so Shouto and Izuku go again, this time as a couple and they are on fucking fire. They’re beautiful and attractive and the crowd loves them.
Toshinori is working behind the scenes with the rebellion to help these two escape the Games. Their allies are all in on the plan and they look out for them without tododeku knowing. They get rescued, but not before there is a clusterfuck going on where everyone is confused and nobody trusts each other.
Izuku is rescued, but Shouto gets captured and neither of them know what’s going on. Izuku gets taken to district 13, which had been thought to have been annihilated by the Capital, but they were actually underground this entire time. They are the rebellion and want Izuku to be their symbol of hope. And Izuku doesn’t want to be part of a war, but if it means helping everyone, he will do it.
Shouto gets taken to the Capital and is used as their own sort of symbol to arouse sympathy for the Capital. But in reality, he is getting tortured and brainwashed and abused. Izuku doesn’t know this. But he does see that with every new interview, Shouto doesn’t look healthy and he looks hurt and like he’s lost weight. He looks unhinged and nervous. That’s so unlike him. Izuku is obviously concerned and as one of his conditions to help district 13, he has asked for Shouto to be rescued at the earliest convenience or else he would not help them. So district 13 goes to rescue Shouto and they bring him back. And Izuku is excited to see him and he wants to hold and kiss him because his boyfriend is back by his side!!!
But because Shouto was tortured so much, he attacks Izuku on sight and tries to choke him to death. Toshinori manages to knock him out and Izuku is under hospital care. Toshinori explains that Shouto has been brainwashed so badly that he doesn’t know what’s real and what is fake, and he believes that Izuku is his enemy. When Izuku goes to see Shouto outside his room, he sees how he’s going crazy and is fighting his restraints and this hurts Izuku so much because he couldn’t do anything to help Shouto. Shouto thinks he’s his enemy.
It takes time for Shouto to calm down and to even talk to Izuku and they have a horrible interaction in which Shouto says that Izuku has been the source of all his problems and Izuku leaves in tears. He has hope in Shouto’s recovery, but it still hurts to be told such hate filled words.
Izuku is used for promoting the rebellion, but he’s really bad at commercial work, so Toshinori suggests that the camera crew gets him in action. They go to district 8 where there is a lot of rebellion going on and Izuku gives a speech and motivates them all to keep fighting. It ends in disaster, though, because the capital comes and basically bombs the hospital they’re in. And the camera crew gets some beautiful shots of Izuku being intense and genuine and motivating everyone to fight the capital.
(I think I have my sequence of events mixed up but whatever i’m really excited writing this alfakjfalk).
Anyways, Izuku has to train to be a soldier for the rebellion and goes through some intense training and he passes woot, he has to pass because he’s the symbol of hope, alfajfaklfa. So he gets sent with the camera crew and other victors and soldiers like Katsuki to go to the capital to bring them down. But district 13 discharges Shouto and they send him to the battlefield with Izuku and the rest, too. Shouto is calm for the most part until there is an attack and he goes feral and attacks Izuku, almost killing him. The crew has to separate them and one of the victors (Finnick, who is my 2nd favorite, deserves the world, deserves better, and I will fight for him) uses a tranquilizer on Shouto to get him to sleep. Izuku and the crew end up in an apartment where they have resources for now and get to watch the reports of the capital saying that he and the rest of the crew are dead. But they’re not, they’re hiding lmfao.
They go into the sewers to try to get to the capital faster, but the president sends mutts (mutant creatures) after them and they get attacked in the sewers. Shouto is the one that is able to warn them about it because he can’t sleep and also he recognizes the noises the mutts make. So the crew is able to get a headstart on their escape, but they still have to fight against them. Izuku is holding his own and fighting, but then gets knocked down by a mutt and almost gets killed. But Shouto saves him and gets him out of the water and helps him get away. They save each other so much here ohmg.
Izuku and the crew are able to escape (BUT THEY LOSE PEOPLE, INCLUDING FINNICK), and Izuku feels so incredibly guilty about the whole situation. Katsuki is also hurt so they have to help treat his wound, but it’s not that bad. Shouto helps Izuku realize that it’s so important what they’re doing and that everyone is depending on Izuku. Please motivate each other, boys, please I’m begging.
So they set up a plan for them to raid the President’s mansion and go in and kill him. Izuku and Katsuki go together and Shouto stays behind them so they don’t arouse suspicion. But there is an attack between the capital and district 13. Izuku, Shouto, and Katsuki are fighting, but Katsuki gets captured and tells Izuku to kill him, but Izuku doesn’t do that. He can’t do that. However, Izuku is witness to a mass bombing courtesy of district 13, which kills a lot of people from the capital who are gathered outside the president’s mansion. Medics are coming in to help and Izuku recognizes them as district 13 uniforms, and one of the medics is Kouta (he had been training to become a doctor, but the president from district 13 sent him along with other medics to ‘help heal those in need’). Izuku spots Kouta and calls out to him and hurries to him and Kouta sees him, but more bombs go off. And that kills not only the other medics and citizens, but also Kouta. And Izuku is sent flying backwards and gets knocked out, but Shouto comes to him and puts out the fire that was on Izuku from the bomb explosion.
The reason I have Katsuki as Gale is because Gale designed a plan using bombs. This plan is what’s used against the capital. This is what kills Kouta. Bombs and explosions…yeah that’s totally Katsuki. Plus Gale is angry and aggressive as shit and well, we all know who is like that, too.
After this, Izuku is struggling with processing what’s going on. The capital has fallen and the districts have won, but Izuku lost his little brother. He was the reason he volunteered in the first place, to keep him safe and alive. Izuku gets to talk to the president (All For One) and AFO tells him that he wasn’t the one who set those bombs, but rather district 13. He wouldn’t kill his own people from the capital. And that has Izuku thinking about it, too.
The president of district 13 (idk who this could be, this has to be someone Izuku is neutral with at the beginning, but feels betrayed by them later on) announces that there will be a Hunger Games for the capital children to participate as a way for retribution for the rest of the districts. Shouto is obvioulsy against this as well as a couple of other victors, but 2 other victors are in favor. Toshinori and Izuku have to give their votes and Izuku says he agrees to have those Games, but he gets to kill AFO. The president is delighted about this answer. Toshinori looks at Izuku and understands what he is doing and also agrees to these terms. But Shouto is not happy about it at all, saying the games are what caused all this problems in the first place. He’s disappointed in Izuku.
Izuku can’t forgive Katsuki for what happened to Kouta. Katsuki does apologize, but Izuku dismisses him, not forgiving him.
When it’s time to kill AFO, Izuku comes in with the rest of the rebels following him and the president of district 13 announces this like a ceremony. I imagine that Izuku was really good with using spears because he’s super strong, so this could be what he uses to kill AFO. However, because of what AFO said, Izuku understands that the president of district 13 caused all this destruction and SHE was the one that killed Kouta and the other medics and the capital citizens with the bombs. So instead, Izuku kills the president of district 13, and this causes the rebels behind him to charge at AFO to kill him. In the midst of the chaos, Izuku reaches for a suicide pill that he was given for the raid of the capital, and is about to take it when Shouto stops him. (This scene is so heart wrenching because Katniss tells Peeta to let her go, and he tells her he can’t.)
So Izuku gets taken by the guards (I want to say not arrested, detained), and is tried for what he did, but because of his deteriorating mental state, he is excused as being mentally insane. He’s let go and is able to go back to district 12 with Toshinori and Inko, but Izuku falls into a heavy depression because he can’t accept Kouta is dead. It takes a long time (I forgot how long) for him to like finally start to recover, but it’s because of Shouto’s return that he gets to breathe again, basically. And Izuku goes out to work on things again, building and lifting and doing all sorts of things now and Shouto is there for him, and Shouto is getting better, too. He was discharged some time after Izuku went home, but stayed in the capital to recover some more before he goes back to district 12 with Izuku, Inko, and Toshinori.
In the end, Izuku and Shouto move in together and get married. In the end, Katniss and Peeta have 2 kids and are happy together. I want for Izuku and Shouto to be happy, too, maybe adopt a couple of children. They’re set for life with their Hunger Games royalties, so they have more than enough money to spare, so they can raise their children happily. They still are mentally ill, those hunger games shits will never go away. But they manage it well. Shouto still has episodes where he has to grab on to things so that his mania can pass (he doesn’t go apeshit anymore, he just needs to hold on to something solid so it can pass), and Izuku and Shouto still have nightmares and depression and anxiety and PTSD, but they can live their lives. Shouto hunts. I don’t know what Izuku can do, but given how strong he is and how he can lift things, I image him building. Houses, buildings, idk? Or maybe his analytical mind led him to another line of work. I’m not sure, but they get to be happy in the end and they get to be together.
  Idea 2:
Shouto and Izuku live in the same district and have a similar childhood encounter to Katniss and Peeta with Peeta giving Katniss bread and saving her family and her from starving. There is no gendered reaping and Shouto and Izuku are reaped together for the Games. Shouto in his interview reveals he has a crush on Izuku and Izuku would be thrilled a lot more if they weren’t going to die. Then the rest happens like idea 1.
I just want a hunger games au. *cries*
I want to thank @edwardslostalchemy for this beautiful submission!!

In Which Everyone Knows About One For All
(Submission by asdmabel)
i stalk your blog sometimes. i’m easily distracted. take this. guess at which point i got distracted
-
“You know, it’s not really a surprise that all Might chose you for his successor,” says Asui. “I mean, even if you can’t use One For All yet, you’re still really similar to him.”
Izuku doesn’t even have a moment to process what she’s said before he’s blushing. “Ah, um, not really!”
“No, she’s right,” adds Kirishima. “I mean, you both have the same smile, or am I just seeing things?”
Asui nods. “It’s not the same smile, but you get the same feeling from it, right?”
This is it. Izuku’s going to blush hard enough to manifest his absent father’s Quirk and breathe fire. He’s just going to die now.
“With how flashy One For All is, and being connected to All Might, you’re pretty much set for popularity as soon as you graduate,” Kirishima sighs. “My hardening’s useless for flashiness.”
“No, it’s a great Quirk!” Izuku finds himself exclaiming. “You can save loads of people with it! I mean, it has to be better to have a strong Quirk and be able to use it well than to have a flashy Quirk and be useless at applying it.”
Aoyama groans theatrically. “Marry me, Midoriya. We can have a horde of children that kill themselves with Quirks that don’t fit their bodies.”
“Aoyama, you said that aloud,” says Ashido.
“Je veux mourir,” he sighs. “Bury me with a thousand bombs filled with glitter.”
“Speaking of bombs and flashiness, you can’t get better than Bakugou, right?” says Kirishima, saving Izuku from thinking of a response to Aoyama’s proposal.
Asui ribbits. “But his personality is awful. He won’t be popular.”
Kacchan, who had been gazing out of the window with a worse scowl than usual, immediately begins to yell. “Fuck you, frogface! I’ll be the most popular out of everyone here!”
“My point is proven,” she croaks.
-
“According to the curriculum we obtained yesterday, Eraserhead, Thirteen, and All Might were supposed to be teaching this class,” says the actual, literal, dark void portal wearing a nice suit. “Where is All Might?”
Sincerely, Midoriya Izuku would like to ask, what the heck?
“We were told that All Might was going to be here. Where is he?” another villain says. This one has way too many hands to be considered healthy, frankly.
Nobody responds. Izuku swallows down the nausea.
“After all of the trouble we went to, and all of the people we brought along,” the hand-villain groans. “If you give us the kid with One For All, we’ll call it even, and we won’t hurt anyone else.”
“Stay together,” Aizawa growls. “Don’t separate. Thirteen, get them out. I’ll hold them back.”
“But-“
Aizawa holds out a hand, silencing Izuku before he can even speak. “I know. All Might sees something in you, so don’t waste it trying to fight when you’re not ready yet.”
Bakugou charges in, aiming for the black mist in a suit, and everything turns into chaos.
-
“Which one is All Might’s?” Hand-Villain asks.
Asui – no, Tsuyu – steps forwards, even as Aizawa yells at her to stop, to run, to do anything but put herself in more danger.
“Maybe it’s me,” she croaks. “Really, it could be any of us. We’re all All Might’s students, so even those of us that hate to lie can answer the same way.”
The villain reaches out, cups Tsuyu’s face in his hand, and murmurs, “Then answer this. Do you have One For All?”
Tsuyu blinks, then clearly says, “Yes.”
“What are you doing, Tsuyu?” yells Izuku, only to be completely ignored.
“Ah, Eraserhead is so cool,” laughs Hand-Villain. The sound isn’t mocking or bitter, but rather, Izuku thinks, that the man sounds genuinely amused.
It’s terrifying.
“You’d do anything to protect your students, right?”
“Don’t touch her!” Izuku finds himself screaming, launching forwards to attack the villain. “Smash!”
His fist connects with hard muscle and leathery skin.
The Noumu.
It moves away, and the Hand-Villain wraps one of his real, attached hands around Izuku’s trembling wrist, holding up his ring finger and pinky. Normally, Izuku would try and break free. It would be easy, with how loose a grip the villain has on him, but he just can’t make his body move.
“Smash?” Hand-Villain says softly. “I found you, One For All.”
The ring finger lowers, and-
“I am here!”
He’s safe.
-
Iida had taken a nomination from his brother for his work experience, while Uraraka had chosen Gunhead. Honestly, though, Izuku’s most confused by Todoroki choosing to join his father. Then again, Endeavor is strong. Even if Todoroki can’t learn much about working as a hero from the guy, he can at least develop finer control of his right-hand side.
Gran Torino has been, well, a unique teacher, in Izuku’s opinion. Then again, Eraserhead had started the year by saying that if Izuku couldn’t control his new Quirk by the end of the yea, then both he and All Might would be out of UA. Thankfully, that was a bluff. Probably.
Something crashes into the train, and Izuku can barely breathe when a hand grips around his entire body. Full Cowl does nothing, but maybe if he plays dead? No, that won’t work; his heart is pounding with anxiety and it’s affecting his thought process.
The Noumu carries him to Hero Killer Stain.
“Let’s see what you’re made of, then.”

Video Fic Pt. 1 Or Something I’m Bored
UA was number 1 for a reason. It was the school that All Might attended, its other alumni donate so much money that its able to afford the best training facilities, the teachers take their teaching seriously, and it offers a wide array of courses that aren’t limited to heroics yet still produce the best results.
But it’d be foolish of anyone to assume that other schools have never come close to UA’s prestige. Shiketsu’s teachers are just as experienced in their abilities to train their students and the training grounds at Ketsubutsu are one of the few that aren’t limited to only pure destruction lessons but stealth and undercover as well.
So with all of this in mind there are of course going to be some people who catch onto this, who question the rankings of these hero schools in order to get to the bottom of who really deserves to be at the top. It’s not that they think UA isn’t worthy, because they most definitely are, but rather that they want to play their cards right for themselves or their future children.
They’ll pull up statistics, interview some alumni of all courses, and they’ll piece it together to get some semblance of a conspiracy theory and an answer.
They’ll celebrate their findings and genius, do a little dance, go to a bar to drink the night away... and then they’ll randomly get an email invite to one of UA’s countless social events that are famous for the five star food and entertainment.
If you thought UA was above silent bribery and manipulation for their enemies in the form of social gatherings, you would be wrong. So very wrong. UA isn’t above anything, not it Nezu has anything to say about it, and especially not if the Hero Commission had anything to say about it. UA represented the golden ones, the elite percentage of society that everyone in Japan and perhaps internationally believed to be the future of this world. And thanks to the school’s boundless financial (and social, as we have just clarified) support, that belief is still justified.
And just in case you thought a specific, grumpy, dark-haired hero hated everything about this, you would also be justified.
The social events usually took place either right before or right after a scandal, always perfectly timed to avoid any backlash or suspicion. The attendees ranged from famous and underground heroes alike, important political figures in Japan, teachers from fellow hero schools, and people who needed to be silenced. The themes were random but mostly remained light-hearted, elegant, or downright humorous.
On one occasion the theme was a 19th century ball with old-fashioned gowns and suits, on another it was Under the Sea where people dressed according to their assigned sea creature and ate sushi while Jaws played on the projector screen, and one time it was just karaoke. Yes, karaoke, a simple arcade game that still managed to dazzle everyone who attended with the hired dancers, professional singers, and flashing lights.
If you think that same dark-haired hero hated all of those themes, with the exception of the karaoke because he didn’t want to trash talk singing in front of his DJ-themed best friend, you would once again be right. In fact, he hated it so much that he dedicated the week before the event to perfectly planning out his schedule, that way Nezu could never logically force him to come.
The first excuse he used was that Recovery Girl said he was dangerously sleep deprived and couldn’t waste any more energy; the second excuse was that his father was back and therefore he had to abandon the country for a couple days; the third was that he had a drug raid that night; and the fourth was when he got so desperate for an escape that he rammed himself into a brick wall seconds before Nemuri could force him into a Dracula costume. In the end he got a concussion, several alarmed stares from his students, a slap from Recovery Girl’s handbag, and a free pass from the Halloween themed dance party.
This year would be no different from last year in his case, as he had once again gotten desperate when he saw Ms. Joke crashing through the door heading straight for him and proceeded to launch himself out the window, landing face-first on the concrete outside. Hurt like a bitch, and he once again got a ‘PLEASE STOP SCARING US’ from Midoriya as he limped his way to Recovery Girl, but now he’s ‘forced’ to spend the next seven hours in the medical room’s bed with an endless supply of chocolate pudding. So he’d say it was worth it.
Midoriya, who’s eyes looked similar to a soldier that had seen one too many horrors in the heat of war, would disagree.
But for everyone besides Aizawa, this social gathering would be quite special. For the first time in UA history, the students here and the ones at several other schools would receive an invite as well. Of course some of the adults were disappointed that alcohol would no longer be provided, but they guessed the virgin pina coladas were more than enough to make up for it, as well as the newfound ability to subtly recruit some of the heroes in training for their own agencies.
And because teenagers would now make up quite a big portion of the party, Present Mic the ‘trendy’ hero- compared to others, at least- was put in charge of the theme. This was also one of the reasons Aizawa slightly regretted incapacitating himself, even though he’d never say it out loud. But he decided the chocolate pudding could erase the depression for a little while.
Present Mic dutifully chose the theme of 1980s throwback, with movies ranging from Japanese-subbed American classics like The Breakfast Club and Heathers, all the way to Akita and My Neighbor Totoro. Random, they know, but what else could you expect from Hizashi the cinephile? With an endless supply of popcorn and slushies, none of the students, adults, or even Midoriya the perpetually anxious over-thinker, thought anything could go wrong.
Unless, of course, you’re Hizashi, and you clumsily mistake the flash drive full of select movies with the flash drive of video clips that should never see the light of day ever again.
“Shit,” the blonde man muttered in English as he frantically shut pressed buttons on his computer to pause the recording before it played, “S-sorry listeners! Just a little malfunction haha!” Nemuri sighed.
“Did you bring the wrong flash drive?” She asked, earning a sheepish nod from Hizashi and several groans from those listening in. The loudest one from Bakugo Katsuki, who was forced to skip his bedtime for this by Kirishima.
“Yeah, but it’s fine! I’m pretty sure I can find a website with the movies we need anyway, just gotta ignore the VPN pop ups and porn ads.” Nemuri took a step closer to stare at the flash drive with curiosity.
“Hey… what’s on that thing anyway? I always see it around your house but I’ve never seen the contents.”
“Oh… Uh, nothing much, really. Just spreadsheets, and assignments, and paperwork, and stu- AHH!” Hizashi yelped as he was shoved aside.
Nemuri leaned closer to the screen to read the information of the flashdrive. It contained 30 videos, lasted about 3 hours in total, and was divided into three sections. First month, second month, and third month. The R-rated hero was just about to ask what years this was referring to when her eyes caught the title of the flash drive: UA Documentary Project.

Aizawa and Kurogiri
Tumblr media
Edit by @inumaqi
In the latest chapter we see Aizawa’s heartfelt attempts to get through to Kurogiri. To speak to his friend and search for him somewhere inside of the shambling corpse spewing black mist that might be all that remains of him. However as genuine as Aizawa’s feelings, and his pleas are towards Kurogiri they are most likely going to fall on deaf ears. Not because the power of friendship is fake, or no trace of Shirakumo remains inside of Kurogiri, but rather because Aizawa himself cannot accept his friend for who he is now. MORE UNDER THE CUT.
Tumblr media
Gran Torino’s attitude towards Kurogiri is indicative of Hero Society as a whole and how Hero Society is never going to be capable of saving anyone in the league of villains as it is now.
Tumblr media
It does not matter who they were, or what their circumstances were. Even if they were directly created by the failures of hero society, once they become villains it no longer matters. They are no longer seen as fully three dimmensional people, just enemies to be put down.
Shimura Tenko’s situation is literally the direct failure of both Nana’s poor decision to abandon her child, and Gran Torino and All Might following their word never to look after Kotaro and his descendants, and because of that both Kotaro and Tenko’s entire lives were destroyed by All for One. Yet, despite being directly responsible through negligence for Shimura Tenko literally being kidnapped as a five year old and raised by a villain Gran Torino insists that at the end of the day Shigaraki Tomura is just a crimminal and therefore completely responsible for his own actions.
Those that are blind to the faults of hero society cannot see how people are hurt by hero society. They even speak of Kurogiri like he’s under brain control like they cannot possibly imagine why he would ever turn against hero society of his own free will.
Tumblr media
Shigaraki is not an abused child. He’s just an emo punk ass. He’s a problem to society. They don’t view Shigaraki as a person just the danger he represents to other people. Therefore, they cannot possibly conceive of why Kurogiri would have any kind of lingering attachment to Shigaraki.
Tumblr media
We as the audience know that the league of villain are all people, who despite being heavily flawed also have their good sides. They are capable of fighting for their friends, and have people they love as well. We’re introduced to two sides of Shigaraki Tomura’s personality. First, we see the violent manchild he is, lashing out at the world around him, volatile, unstable, constantly in pain. Then we meet Shimura Tenko.

Tenko who is this constantly anxious kid, a crybaby who even though he’s literally constantly being punished by his father, stands up to bullies, and still wants to follow his dreams even in a household where everybody is dead against him becoming a hero. We’re introduced to a kid who’s a strong parallel for Deku, someone who cannot stand to see others be left out, because he also knows what it feels like to be alone even in a household surrounded by people and continually reaches out to others even when he himself wants to cry.
Then we realize that Shigaraki is still that person. No matter how warped he became from his childhood self, that’s still the core of who he is. Shigaraki will always take in the outcast, he’ll accept them even when they’re not strictly useful. When twice failed to create a double of the Quirk Bullets, Shigaraki did not throw him out.

The Tenko who will always reach out the outcast even when he himself is in pain, even when he wants to cry is still there. The Tenko that cares so much about other people’s feelings because he knows what it’s like to have his own feelings trampled on.
Tumblr media
He is neither Shigaraki Tomura the destructive brat who just wants to hurt others as a form of lashing out. nor Shimura Tenko the one who stands up to bullies and accepts the outsiders for who they are, but rather he’s both at once. He’s both an incredibly violent and emotionally unwell person, and also a kind one who always reaches out to others who are similiarly lost just like him. That’s the form Shigaraki’s victomhood takes, and it’s incredibly complex, ugly and hard to swallow. He’s the monster All for One made him into, and at the core of his being he’s still a victimized child. Neither of these traits cancel out the other, but hero society in its rush to categorize people as hero or victims will never understand the whole of Shigaraki.

Aizawa genuinely cares about Shirakumo, even in his current form of Kurogiri. He still cares for his friend even knowing the sins he must have committed as Kurogiri. However, the bottom line is Aizawa is never going to be able to offer the same understanding that the league has already given to Kurogiri. Aizawa loved his friend for who he was, and for the traces of him that still remain present, but Shigaraki accepts Kurogiri for who he is right now.
Shigarki is the central victim of the manga. He’s connected to the rest of the league. He’s even paralleled heavily to Kurogiri. They were both taken in by All for One at a young age, and both of them have been manipulated by him for a long time and were only saved by him to fulfill a purpose. They’re both ultimately tools to the man who took them in and are loyal to. Shigaraki has even now allowed his body to be tinkered with to the same degree that Kurogiri has in the past. They have both also been by each other’s side the longest, especially if Kurogiri’s sole purpose for being taken in was to raise Shigaraki.

Shigaraki and Kurogiri are also both people who have gone by two different names (Shimura Tenko, Shigaraki Tomura) and (Shirakumo , Kurogiri). They both experienced the ‘death’ of their original selves. They both continued living on even after their own funeral. They are both former aspiring heroes who were turned into villains by All for One’s machinations.
What Aizawa realizes is that both Shigaraki and Kurogiri are the same type of person. They are both people who could never leave a stray alone. They’ve bothspent their entire lives taking care of the outcasts. Those too dangerous to save. Those too problematic to save. Those who saving only brings in more risk and harm for others. They save the people that hero society would otherwise forget.
Tumblr media
Aizawa sees this quality in Kurogiri because he knew Kurogiri as Shirakumo, and he recognizes his old friend. However, Aizawa himself would never see this in Shigaraki. Even though Aizawa is a caretaker of children he would never noticed what a damaged and traumatized child Shigaraki is. However, they have essentially both gone through the same thing, Kurogiri and Shigaraki both died and were resurrected by All for One with their original personalities still in tact, if Aizawa cannot accept Shigaraki then he cannot accept Kurogiri as well.
The point that Horikoshi is trying to show us with these people who fell through the cracks, these former aspiring heroes fallen to villainry, is that there is a reason they became villains in the first place. “Fallen” as they are, the children who once wanted to do good and become heroes are still obviously there inside of both of them. Shigaraki and Kurogiri cannot grow up because the world currently as it is would never let them grow up. That’s why Shigaraki wants to destroy it.
Tumblr media
Even the way Aizawa talks about Shirakumo’s death, he kind of implies it’s Shirakumo’s own fault for acting too recklessly. Not the fault of say, hero society for putting a teenager on a dangerous internship when the adults should have been handling the more dangerous elements like this.
There’s this insistence on personal responsibility in hero society. That Shigaraki must have wanted to become a villain, therefore it doesn’t matter if he was an abused child taken in by All for One. Aizawa himself while being a very compassionate person is still a part of that society.
Aizawa’s response to Shirakumo’s freak accident of a death was not that perhaps it’s a bad idea to put children into these circumstances into the first place, but rather an emphasis on individual responsibility. If Shirakumo had simply thought things through, if he had been more powerful, then he would have simply avoided the fallen rocks and continued living. Aizawa thinks if he can teach students adequately to be responsible personally for everything and account for those situations that they’ll never be put into harms way.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with personal respnsibility, but people like Gran Torino take it too far. Obviously, Shimura Tenko must have wanted to be evil at five years old. If he were a good child he would have somehow resisted fifteen years of manipulation from literally the world’s most powerful evil genius.
But Aizawa knows that his teaching of indvidual responsibility only works up to a point. That people can’t do everything on their own, that they will inevitably need someone who pulls them along, and someone to rely on. People are not saved by punching a villain in the face, people are saved when somebody notices that someone else is in trouble and reaches out to help them regardless of the circumstances. People are saved by people like Shigaraki or Deku who will reah out to help the outcast that cannot help themselves.
Tumblr media
Aizawa himself has been damaged by hero society as well. He’s traumatized by the loss of Shirakumo. Which is why he can’t see the inherent flaw that allowed Shirakumo to fall through the cracks in the first place. The attitude that lets children take on full villains, that even now is letting the Hero Commission do shady things like consider all of the students as a backup army in case the heroes were to fall.

The same people that never allowed Hawks to have a life of his own, and instead coerced and raised him to be a hero since he was a child, and then even after taking his whole childhood away by making him be a hero, kept him under their thumbs and made him their expendable spy for the league and made him dirty his own hands. They forced him to be a hero, and then didn’t even allow him to stay the kind of hero who saves others that he wanted to be because they needed him to kill someone to infiltlrate the league. That shows how much the hero regards the ethics of using children.
Aizawa genuinely loves his studets, but he’s also trusting them with these people because he can’t perceive the flaws. He can’t see how Kurogiri is suffering under the system, how Shigaraki is suffering, and how he himself is suffering.
Tumblr media
Which is why Aizawa’s pleas will ultimately fail to reach Kurogiri. Yes, he knows his old friend is still there in Kurogiri, but he also completely fails to accept the person Shirakumo has become as Kurogiri. There is already a person who has made a deep connection and brought out the best of Kurogiri as who he already is now, and it’s not Aizawa, it’s Shigaraki. The reason Kurogiri is still kind like Shirakumo was is because he had Shigaraki to care for and bring it out of him by continually treating Kurogiri like a person. What Aizawa wants is to return to the past and become heroes again. Shigaraki will accept Kurogiri as he is now, even as a villain. Aizawa denies who Kurogiri has become, but Shigaraki has already accepted him at his most broken.
That is why the league of villains saves the people who the heroes never could save.
