“There’s a reason for that.” Tommy reminds him. “I’m just a fledgling. Even if I'm not being burned by the sun, even being in it through a barrier like a blanket or sheet still makes me weak! I won’t be able to escape!” Older vampires are still weak to the sun, but they at least gain some immunity. Fledglings don’t have any protections, they’re as frail as newborn babies.

“I know.” Dream nods grimly. “I’m going to have to take care of everything, and if something goes wrong you won’t be able to run. They’ll recapture you easily.”

Tommy thought for a second. “What about you?”

This does seem to throw Dream for a loop. “Pardon?”

“You said they’ll capture me,” Tommy reminds him, “But what about you?”

Dream doesn’t answer right away, but after a few seconds finally says “Let's make sure we don’t get to that point.”

“Dream…”

“We’re doing this tomorrow. There isn’t much time, and I need to get everything prepared.”

Or-Tommy is a vampire fledgling that's captured by a wealthy lord. Dream tries to help him escape, but this doesn't go as smoothly as they hoped.

The Fine Print- is a modern and mafia-based setting with no magical aspects. Tommy is an excellent killer for the three most powerful mafia gangs in the city. The craft brothers, Dream, and Quackity. After doing missions for them for many years, Tommy wants to leave the business and town altogether. But on his way out, he gets in a tragic accident. The craft brothers find and help him heal at their luxurious apartment. Unknown to him, the brothers have much more dark wishes. They always wanted Tommy to be theirs, yet Tommy never consented to be part of their family. Now they have a chance to make him theirs. Even if it means lying and drugging him. But what happens when Tommy finally gets aware of the situation? What happens when he figures out they aren't going to just let him go? He was on his own for years, he can find a way to get away from some rich prices. (The Fine Print is abandoned but the Author did put the idea for how the story would finish in the last chapter)

Hermitcraft

When This World Is No More (The Moon is All We'll See) by Silverskye13 Fic about the Hermits dealing with the end of the world by moon falling. Mainly from Cleo and Joe’s perspective but all the Hermits show up. 

Built Family by Oceanera12 An AMAZING found family fic about how each Hermit found Hermitcraft. A lot of the characters are magical/mythical/hybrids. 

EXPERIMENT 76844537: SUBJECT 47426 by HaloRocks1214 Fluffy fic where Zedaph asks Grian to hug all the Hermits as an experiment. 

Anything To Hear You (Say It One More Time) by mgrnn Etho angst! He gets heavily injured and calls Bdubs to hear his voice one more time. Bdubs won’t let that happen though.

Home at Last by Wimberly_snoot A good Dream SMP and Hermitcraft crossover. Tommy finds himself in Hermitcraft. 

Healing Is a Four Letter Word and it’s sequel The Aftershocks of Divinity by Hypno_Cat Watcher Grian escapes and crashes into Hermitcraft. Stories follow him healing. Read tags for relationships since I don’t want to spoiler.

Bubbles bursting by Higgystar Autistic Bdubs! A very good story. 

don’t let me see what i am, cause i can’t stand it by mayflowers07( @mayflowers07 )  Non binary Iskall dealing with transphobia. Yeah I just love this fic. 

The i can be the one you call series by mayflowers07( @mayflowers07 ) Series where the Hermits have a code phrase which is spoken when something goes truly wrong. A lot of good angst and hurt/comfort.

bird song by Penmonition and Phantom_Pen (The_Winged_Warrior)  Hands down my favorite Grian backstory fic. A deep dive into his time with the Watchers.

The Stone Steals My Voice by Aimandfire ( @aimandfire21 ) One of my favorite Eret angst fics. Eret gets kidnapped by Dream and is forced to stay in the cell made for Skeppy. 

eret whump by DeadlyHuggles Literally what it says in the title lol. Eret gets punished by Dream. 

Mellow High by an orphaned account  Soulmate AU, Ranboo centric. Sadly seems to be abandoned but still very enjoyable. 

Wrecking Ball by Anonymous Eret angst. Read the tags for content warning because it gets pretty heavy. 

Eret angst for all of you angst-lovers out there(I know you are one don't deny it) by NightmareoftheCabin First of all the title is an attack on me lmao. But yeah Eret in the prison being rescued by Techno.

Gonna be real, this is not a curated collection that I would think anyone in particular would like and more just a collection of the fics that I think of when someone asks me "what are your favorite fics in this fandom". I'm gonna be real, I only just started this one, so I can't get too in depth, but imagine a foster care au intertwined with day to day dsmp drama. That's what this is. In Tommy's waking life he has to deal with his shattered family, his trauma, and the dangers of the dsmp, while in his dreams he goes to another, softer, gentler world where he has to navigate being cared for by a strange, caring, other worldly version of his abuser, Dream.

I love the style of this so far, the author really nails Tommy's sass and irritability, along with his softer moments without making him too soft. If you like my Tommy you'll probably like theirs too.

Belonging by boonsbeans:

Status: complete

Word count: 41k

Chapters: 9

Characters: Tommy & Wilbur

Classic kidnapping fic, Wilbur kidnaps his friend Tommy and Tommy tries to resist social isolation, abandonment and Stockholm syndrome while he learns how truly possessive his friend is.

This fic again manages to nail the Tommy sass and how he speaks, along with giving Wilbur shockingly understandable motivations, methods, and a backstory that makes sense. There are some great twists in here and it's overall a very fun read.

AITA For Kidnapping A Sixteen Year Old?

Characters: Tommy, Dream, Tubbo, Ranboo, George, but really a lot of the cast members are roped in

Modern kidnapping discduo au told through Dream trying to get validation on Reddit mostly. You have an angsty teen, a weirdo Reddit user, a chronically online teen, and a mentally ill young adult. What could go wrong?

Very unique and funny presentation style, but honestly the story within a story that comes from the author only updating when they have a funny story for the authors notes is also great.

Finally a tubbo centric vampire kidnapping fic. It's short, but a neat little snack for vampire fic lovers.

Characters: Tubbo centric, SBI, Schlatt, Dream etc all make appearances

Fae au! Honestly one of the best fae stories I've ever read. Poker weaves elements of Canon and folklore together really well and creates a story with ever-present tension that never gets old, plus their characterization of Tubbo is spot on. The first three fics are dsmp but the fourth one is looking like it's gonna be hermitcarft.

The Case of the Fire Inside by trying_to_spell_both_our_names_at_once:

Status: abandoned

Word count: 198k

Chapters: 24/27

Characters: Tommy centric, but also heavily focused on the rest of SBI and Dream

Techno, Phil, and Wilbur volunteer as lighthouse keepers on a remote island in an attempt to save their fractured family after the death of Kristin. Things are difficult, and boring, and tense, but at least they have the company of a strange, friendly seal off the coast and the weird neighbor boy.

Honestly an amazing fic, some of the best writing I have ever seen, I feel transported to the sea every time I read it. I know the lack of an ending is sad, but I promise, it's still worth the experience of reading.

Coming Down Blue by electibunny

Slice of life of what it's like to recover from a kidnapping. I really like this because it's just thr day to day journies of a whole friend group of deeply traumatized and problematic but well meaning people. Again, the lack of an ending is sad, but it's not about the end, it's about the journey, and this is a story worth experiencing.

Stranded on an Island With a Ghost Inside Your Head by MolluskSauce

Funny enough this is probably my favorite fic in the whole fandom. This fic details a modern Tommy's long and boring captivity at the hands of Dream. It's more of an experience than anything else and it's a very evocative and powerful experience, plus it only has like 10 comments??? Mollusk needs more love for this

Tommy knew he was sick the second he woke up. With a sore throat and aching limbs, he wanted to cuss out the world. The only reason he didn’t was because that would actually be pretty fucking painful.

It wasn’t a surprise really. In fact it was kinda inevitable. With the stiff air of his apartment, his diet of salty raman, and his insane work hours. Sooner or later Tommy was going to get sick, it was just going to happen.

That didn’t mean he needed to be happy about it. Especially because he had to go into work in only a few hours.

Or-Tommy is very sick, but still has to go into work. His manager, Wilbur, sees how ill he is and decides to take him home.
