SPOILERS ALERT

So the harrowing tale of Baekjin (Donald)'s traumatizing past continues. His teachers and peers abused him because of his poverty and because of their envy and greed. He kept getting the best grades even though they bullied him for not being able to purchase the uniform, for looking shabby and dirty. They even kicked him out from the classroom during a classmate's birthday celebration to mop the floor and take out the trash, to massage his homeroom teacher's foot, and to get beaten up.

The homeroom teacher wrote bad reports about Baekjin's behavior to his scholarship provider. Then he gave Baekjin leftover foods like it was something Baekjin should be grateful for, and the poor kid ate it alone hungrily.

Last but not least, a rich kid (his class representative)'s mom came to school and little Baekjin was summoned in front of her and the teachers, being accused for dishonesty in the exam. When in fact the mother was the one who bribed the homeroom teacher with an expensive watch to ensure that her son got the questions in advance and got the best grades.

How dare they. These incompetent adults.

But the saddest thing to me is the reason why eventually Baekjin will get his tattoos and turn into gang life and crimes: he saw his stepdad getting beaten up by a tattooed thug.

So the current fearsome Baekjin is the person he created out of the desire to be someone whom his scary stepdad is scared of. And in doing so, he is feared by everyone else instead.

Obvsly this is gonna be colleagues to lovers. But stay til the end bec spoiler alert: agust d shows up. You first meet Yoongi that time you needed someone to setup your adobe suite in your uni-issued computer. He is … so cute? Like you’re so thrown. His squishy cheeks, round glasses. And he always wears a sweater that looks 2x bigger for his frame that he always looks like he has sweater paws. So so cute. And yup. You have a crush. Thankfully or not, your computer is alwaysss having problems. Seriously. Lately youre unable to save anything because its always full?! Like what gives. Yoongi fixes it but little did you know he keeps accessing it remotely and adds random hidden files to bulk up the storage so you can continue to keep calling him. And he will be the hero to fix your shit because he likes being needed by u.

One day you go to the IT department to finally request for a replacement unit bec as much as u like yoongis visits u canNOT get any actual work done and u have actual students to teach. So youre there at the it dept right and u spot him on his corner desk using gasp Canva. 👀 Now Canva’s cool and all but baby. Thats amateur hour and youre the uni’s top graphic design professor so that cannot be. Not on ur watch. Youre like hey whachu doing and hes like what the shit and scrambles to close down the windows but you already saw it. He was trying to design a poster for some underground rap show with the headliner being some guy named agust D. Youre like need help? He looks at u all embarrassed but says yeah ok. And so u spend like an hour huddled in your computer as he gives u a quick brief on what he needs and you honestly could bang it out much faster but youre working slower than usual because youre having so much fun chatting with him. He is so cute and his voice is so deep. And youre like really really vibing. Ughh. Anyways u finish the design and he says hey come to the show. And ur like wait are u agust d and he winks before disappearing into the hall. CLIFFHANGERRRRR 🙈 jk ok lets finish this. Ofc you go to the damn show and the guy on stage this is not the same IT GUY fr uni. He is so fuckin hawt 🔥🔥🔥you literally attacked him the moment he approached u and he was like oof ok we doing this and he takes you backstage and you know TAKES YOU backstage and the rest is history.

i also wanted to ask about the audience’s reaction to satoru dedicating a song to suguru at his concert!!! as someone who is in kpop fandoms (which is also why this fic is so dear to me, the parallels with the challenges and pressures they face;;) i can just imagine all the takes fans would immediately have about the whole thing AHAHA also makes me go aww that suguru couldn’t fully enjoy the performance but sksjddj i loved the angst sm

i also have sm questions about satoru’s past but that’s spoilers LOL and i love learning alongside suguru about the layers satoru has… there’s so much to unpack i’m so excited to see how both stsg’s pasts unfold…!! including megumi and gojo’s past AAAAA their bond in every universe is really everything to meeeee and gojo being a support for the next generation criiiies *plays snooze by agust d* AND CHOSO AND GETO? what went onnnnnnnnn i also did not get the sugar-ooh until geto did and it was such a fun revelation my jaw literally DROPPED LOOOOL

i find the way you write stsg so so fascinating too how they bring out different sides to each other like when satoru speaks quieter and sincerely and suguru (and us readers) is hit with realizing again and again that there’s so much he doesn’t know and hasn’t figured out yet about satoru which makes this even more compelling [big heart] ah i love this fic so much and i’m so happy to have found your writing (i will never ever ever ever get over rivers crossed mountains scaled omg) and am veryyyyy much looking forward to what comes next for them!!!

So, Tsumiki is definitely present in the Threshold universe! Gojo didn't mention her by name when he was telling Megumi's story, but when he said Megumi didn't want the Zen'in fortune because he's "stubborn as hell", he was talking about Tsumiki.

It's a parallel to canon basically. The Zen'in — obsessed with bloodlines as they are — seriously underestimated the strength of the Fushiguro siblings' bond when they refused to factor Tsumiki into their discussions with Megumi. Hence, he followed Gojo into music rather than rely on their dirty money. That's why the Zen'in blame Gojo, even though it's really just because Megumi's a spiteful little so-and-so! 😏

Because of the parallels with canon, Megumi would try to keep Tsumiki away from the toxicity of the music industry as much as possible — hence why she wasn't at the album launch. However, I like to think that her career is adjacent to Megumi's in some capacity! As much as I love writing about the Fushiguro siblings' relationship with Gojo, the inclusion of that story served more to give Suguru a look into the real Gojo Satoru, so she's unlikely to feature in this fic. I think continuing their story would require a sequel — which I'm not even gonna think about until Threshold is finished... I'm not, I'm not thinking about it!

As for Gojo's dedication at the concert, he spoke in Japanese so Suguru would understand him, so most of the audience wouldn't have known what he was saying immediately. However, I'm sure the online reactions once the videos were translated and passed around were very interesting! Having said that, it's hard to communicate the nuances of the Japanese language in an English language fic. To most English speakers, "this was the first song I played for them" seems like a deliberate omission of gender, but that's not the case in Japanese. So, I imagined Gojo using his native tongue very responsibly in that moment, sticking to language that sounds purely professional — but that wouldn't stop fans from speculating 👀

I'm not planning to explore Gojo's past in *too* much detail because it's mostly his present and his future that are relevant to the story. Meanwhile, it's Suguru with the big fat question mark over his past... 🫠 So, if you want to ask questions, go ahead and I will simply avoid sharing spoilers! As for where to ask questions, Tumblr lends itself to longer answers so if you enjoyed this response, probably best to ask here! However, AO3 comments feed my body and soul so feel free to leave those too... It's whatever you prefer really 🥰

Megumi and Gojo's relationship is everything to me tooooo, no one can stop me from shoehorning it into every damn fic I write! Mid-year recalibration

It's been a year since Festa Dinner 2022. A LOT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THEN.

And on January 1, 2023, I posted my "predictions" for the year. "Predictions" in quotes because most everything I write is sort of slightly unserious, not to be taken TOO seriously, begs for you to please use your common sense... also I haz a little sarcasm dripping here and there when I express my thoughts. Drip, drip.

So let's see the status of my "predictions":

Solo albums... wellll, I sort of got that right, Jimin's FACE was released before Yoongi's D-Day. We're still waiting for Tae and Jungkook. RM keeps putting off enlistment to work on new music. I'm gonna have to drag him by the ear to training camp... get yer ass in there so you can come back sooner than later!! But we did get to see him for Festa and I'm thankful for that.

New prediction: Jungkook comes through with a chart topper that doesn't involve a collab.

Speaking of Tae, I said he'd do more acting before music and though it's not really acting, he's been in a few reality TV shows: "In the Soop: Friendcation" and "Jinny's Kitchen." There are rumors he was spotted on the set of a K-drama and now possibly he was in Spain for a movie...or was that for an upcoming solo MV? Surely he'll have at least a little bit of music before he enlists? Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing him actually acting in a drama... we wait.

New prediction: Piano bar listening party for his solo release.

Military enlistment... wow so far I've struck out. Joon is still hanging around. Yoongi has extended his world tour (which I'm happy to say I've been to a concert). And HOBI IS ALREADY ENLISTED....

So 3 strikes I'm out because obviously their enlistment timing is unpredictable. Right now I'm just hoping that by May 2024 (yes almost a year from now) they'll all be in so we can have a New Year group reunion on Dec. 31, 2025. Of course, I hope they go much sooner though it kills me to know we have to watch them enlist again and again.

My other predictions were hit and miss:

Yoongi did cut his hair so I was wrong about that. Also sad. I loved his long hair. And this NBA ambassadorship came outta left field. The D-Day world tour was the bomb he dropped on us, his big project. Oh well, guess there won't be any tangerine soju coming from his non-existent citrus orchards. Ha!

Hobi DID release more music, On the Street, and it WAS a collab with J. Cole. AND he became fashion ambassador for his fave: Louis Vuitton. God I miss him so much. Instagram is so quiet without him. Everything is so quiet without him.

We finally got PJM1 and it has a name now, FACE and Like Crazy has broken records. Jimin as an artist has broken records as we knew he would and he is still making music. And he's travelling the world being a Dior and Tiffany ambassador and snatching everyone's wig, eating everyone alive and just being Jimin. His constant happy smile has been the most meaningful thing to me this year. I'm so thrilled he is happy.

Jungkook... the Bunkoo has stumped me. The Calvin Klein contract is amazing. His spontaneous lives have been wonderful. Cooking for us has been awesome. None of that could have been predicted. He's the sweetest king of spoilers and support for Jimin's stuff. I also did not predict I would love him even more this year. But here we are.

NOT ON THE PREDICTION RADAR WHATSOEVER:

Jimin on a Fast & Furious franchise soundtrack collab. I NEED MORE JIMIN!

Tae and Jennie "soft" revealing their relationship publicly. Like WHAT? But they did that.

Also blonde Tae... I never thought we'd see a blonde Tannie again.

Attending a Suga/Agust D concert and meeting up with Army friends I met on the internet. HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR!

2023 is already half way over. I have no idea what will happen this second half of 2023. It's a mystery.

As much as I am reveling in having so much to look forward to every day and every week, and as much as I wish this didn't have to happen...I (selfishly) really want them to get enlisted so they can be back together as soon as possible in 2025 (at any point in 2025). The first time I see them together in 2025, I am going to cry with relief. However I am always the first to say BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR so I know I shouldn't even been saying any of that...

Anyway...

I guess at the end of December, I will be looking back and saying "well, who would have thought THAT would happen?" More of "not on the prediction radar." By December, Jin will only have six months left. Time is flying faster than I thought it would when back on June 13, 2022. After that heartbreaking Festa dinner, we were staring down a bleak two and a half years of being Bangtan-less....well that didn't happen did it?

It’s always spoilers or leaks but the surprise feature was like…… and especially the lyrics/context of the song it was definitely a moment in pop culture 

I’d say the unexpected jaw dropping shock alone makes this the best solo debut of bts

I disagree, this is pretty in line with the western industry, but the song in itself isn't that jaw-dropping to me.I was surprised by the sexiness of it all because usually idols can be a bit muzzled about it by their companies and PR teams, but this is in line with jk's personality, the evolution of his image, and in general bts's career goal of expanding to the west.

In terms of music quality, I find the others' album release have been better.JITB was extremely well constructed and the storytelling was great and very well thought.RM's album had a very interesting expression of RM's musical style, and had both emotional and metaphorical complexity (which seems to be what he strives for).D-Day was a nice conclusion and a proof of growth from the last two Agust D albums, and he visibly worked on his vocal and dance for.I heard the shows were great as well.Set me Free Pt.2 was also surprising to me, because the instrumental layering was powerful.If we were only going by jaw dropping power, i would do

1.JITB ( especially Arson) 2.Set me Free PT.2 3.Seven

They did play on our expectations for the title "Seven" though, i think they did it on purpose.

I am waiting for a full album release to have a full opinion, but this single alone does not make it the best BTS solo debut in my opinion.

The chapter is Baekjin (Donald)'s backstory, which I guess would go on for several more chapters.

My heart hurts. My head hurts. I never thought I would pity you so much, Baekjin. As expected he was an abused kid through and through. Society let him down, school system let him down, the government let him down. His only shelter was his sick mom. Nobody wanted this kid, so he decided to wage a war against the world and made a name for himself, hmm?

I wish Baekjin told someone about this story so that he doesn't self-medicate and doesn't shut himself out. And I hope it's not too late now.

Mancano poche ore al rilascio di “People Pt.2”, il tuo comeback ufficiale nei panni di Agust D prima dell'uscita dell'album D-Day. Hai forse un approccio e disposizione mentale diversi quando fai musica sotto lo pseudonimo Agust D, da solista, o come SUGA dei BTS?

SUGA: Sono tutti progetti musicali ad opera dell'individuo chiamato Min Yoongi. Quindi, no, non ho una qualche disposizione mentale particolare a seconda dei diversi alter-ego — ma possiamo dire che lo scopo di tali progetti è diverso. L'obiettivo di fondo, però, resta quello di far ascoltare la mia musica a più persone possibile. “People Pt.2” è nata tenendo conto delle possibili reazioni di pubblico alla musica di Agust D, ed è per questo che abbiamo chiesto ad IU di partecipare. Rilasciare questo progetto a nome di Agust D è stata un po' una sfida. Sono un po' preoccupato.

Ovviamente, “People Pt.2” (feat. IU) è una continuazione di “People”, dalla tua mixtape D-2. Quale aspetto è stato più importante e prezioso nel continuare questa narrazione insieme ad IU?

SUGA: Credo questa sia una storia che ognuno potrà apprezzare a modo suo: all'inizio, il titolo non era “People Pt.2”. Se devo essere sincero, “People”, contenuta in D-2, è la mia canzone preferita — ed abbiamo lavorato a “People Pt.2” già tre anni fa. Quando ho rilasciato il mio album fotografico [Photo-Folio : Wholly or Whole Me], la BigHit vi ha inserito uno spoiler, pubblicando un assaggio della versione guida [demo] del nuovo singolo.

Ma, ad ogni modo, la traccia era già conclusa quando stavo lavorando a D-2 e, tra me e me, pensavo: “Oh, dovrei rilasciarla, forse è ora di rilasciarla”. Ma poi abbiamo avuto i comeback di “Dynamite” e “Butter”, quindi non ne ho avuto modo.

Il titolo originale era “Sara (사라)”, senza la consonante coreana “M (ㅁ)” — c'è solo una consonante di differenza rispetto a “saram (사람)”, che in coreano significa “People / gente”.

A seconda della consonante che si aggiunge alla fine, 'sara (사라)' può diventare “saram

(사람 )”, 'people / gente' o “sarang (사랑 )”, vale a dire 'amore'. In pratica, sta a chi ascolta scegliere quale consonante aggiungere alla fine di “sara” (사라). Quando ho fatto ascoltare la canzone agli amici, alcuni vi sentivano “sal-ah (살아)” che, in coreano, significa un concetto simile a “vita / esistenza”, quindi ho pensato, “Così non va, non si capisce” e, in conclusione, abbiamo optato per il titolo “People”. Inoltre, qualcuno mi chiama Au-gust D, altrə A-gust D, ma il nome giusto è Agust D. Quindi, sa, la gente interpreta un po' come vuole il mio nome d'arte e, per questo progetto, dovevamo sincronizzare le due identità, SUGA e Agust D. Il brano segue un po' quel connubio. Avevo bisogno di un ponte che collegasse la mia mixtape a quest'album solista. Perché il collegamento funzionasse, ho dovuto rendere questa traccia una canzone molto pop. Il video musicale non è niente di eclatante — e, in tutto ciò, la partecipazione di IU è stata fondamentale. E poi credo che questo sia un genere che mi riesce piuttosto bene, questo tipo di canzoni più pop.

Quindi c'è questo collegamento tra le due canzoni, ma i temi ed il testo sono molto diversi, giusto? “People” è piuttosto introspettiva e parla del giudizio altrui, mentre “People Pt.2” sembra più concentrata sulle relazioni e sulla lotta con la solitudine. Secondo te, quali sono le differenze principali tra le due?

SUGA: In passato — ed è una cosa che ripeto in ogni intervista —, ho sempre pensato che stare insieme, nella società odierna, sia un po' come stare da soli. Parlo sempre della solitudine, quando vengo intervistato ma, sfortunatamente, l'argomento non guadagna sempre la versione finale dell'articolo. E non è una cosa che riguarda solo me, abbiamo tutti questa solitudine interiore che ci accompagna fino alla morte. Per quanto preso da una relazione tu possa essere, per quanto tu possa stare in mezzo alla gente, quanti amici tu possa avere o quanto spesso vedi la tua famiglia, hai sempre quel senso di solitudine dentro.

Tre anni fa, quindi, sono partito dalla parola chiave “solitudine” e direi che non c'è poi tanta differenza: tuttə quantə soffriamo e ci angosciamo. Vale lo stesso per me. Che si tratti dei BTS, di SUGA, di Min Yoongi o di Agust D, anche io mi porto sempre dentro quella solitudine. Magari la gente penserà io non abbia alcuna preoccupazione o non soffra mai, ma sono emozioni che provo anche io. Sto cercando di trovare un modo per sconfiggerle e superarle.

Il messaggio contenuto in quest'album non conclude o spiega nulla per certo, non è un punto netto. Potrebbe sempre ancora esserci una “Parte 3”, in futuro. Per ora, ciò che volevo trasmettere è “Cerchiamo di non odiarci l'un l'altrə. Dobbiamo trovare un punto d'intesa.”

Mi piace — e anche nel trailer del documentario Road to D-Day, c'è una scena in cui dici che hai spesso considerato di abbandonare la musica. SUGA: È un argomento un po' delicato. Io ho iniziato a fare musica e a scrivere canzoni quando avevo 11 o 12 anni. Ho sempre e solo fatto musica, per tutti questi anni, e ora ne ho 30. Non è stato facile scrivere “People Pt.2”, e neppure l'album in generale, ma non c'è nessuno che conosca o capisca appieno cosa significa tutto questo per me, com'è stato. Anche se per più di metà della mia esistenza ho solo sempre lavorato con la musica, quando abbiamo debuttato nella scena K-pop, eravamo in questo strano limbo in cui non venivamo considerati né artisti né idol. Gli artisti con cui sono in confidenza sanno che sono serio, che nutro una passione sincera per la musica e che sono una persona autentica. Il documentario è nato dal desiderio di catturare e mostrare al pubblico questo lato di me ed il processo che vi sta dietro. È nato con l'intento di presentare SUGA in qualità di produttore e cantautore, ma, alla fine, è diventato più un resoconto del processo di creazione dell'album. Ho cercato di includervi quanto più possibile il mio lato più umano e quotidiano, ma visto che sono un idol, un K-idol, molte scene sono state tagliate; di base, c'erano molte più parti relative al mio lato più autentico, alcune davvero ottime, ma non sono state incluse nel prodotto finale.

Quindi sia il documentario che “People Pt.2”, fondamentalmente, sono un modo per mostrare il lato più umano e naturale di Min Yoongi. Volevo semplicemente ribadire che anche io sono una persona normale. Anche io sono umano.

Allora, ne dovrai rilasciare una tua “versione integrale”, prima o poi. Mentre aspettiamo l'uscita di D-Day e del documentario, vorrei congratularmi con te per il rilascio ufficiale a livello globale di D-2 e Agust D, questa settimana. Finalmente la mia canzone preferita, “Agust D” con il sample di “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”, è disponibile sulle piattaforme streaming. Precedentemente, hai menzionato come J. Cole abbia dato il via libera per l'uso ufficiale di un suo sample per “Born Singer” dei BTS; che cosa puoi dirci rispetto al campionamento della traccia di James Brown?

SUGA: Ho rilasciato Agust D quando ero molto giovane, quindi, quando la riascolto ora, mi rendo veramente conto di quanto fossi ancora immaturo — ascoltando con attenzione, è facile notare quanto il rap sia disordinato, ma, allora, volevo provare un sacco di cose diverse. È tutto decisamente troppo compresso e rapido. Ma avendo scritto tanta altra musica, e molto

più varia, credo la gente solitamente apprezzi maggiormente i brani più recenti, rispetto a

quelli di allora. Credo il pubblico stia iniziando ad avvicinarsi e ad apprezzare quelle tracce solo ora.

Dato che l'artista originale (James Brown) non è più in vita, credo sia stata la sua famiglia a darci l'ok (per il sample). Stesso processo di “Born Sinner” — e non so come sia stato per l'altra parte, ma è filato tutto molto liscio e con molta trasparenza. Personalmente, voglio considerarlo come un riconoscimento della mia arte in quanto musicista – sotto ognuna delle mie identità: SUGA dei BTS, Min Yoongi, il produttore SUGA e Agust D. Però non mi illudo certo che questo significhi che anche il vasto pubblico mi abbia accettato, perché il mio non è un tipo di musica poi così popolare. Ma, ad ogni modo, oserei dire che, quanto meno, le cose stanno iniziando a cambiare e che stiamo ottenendo i primi riconoscimenti in quanto artisti e musicisti.

I've just caught up on the last three chapters of MFFMHH and have so many things to say!

Firstly, their poetry brain sex in Part III was so cute. Throughout all of these chapters there are so many small moments where the two of them just are able to see and understand each other in ways others can't, and it's so sweet.

Secondly, I totally went into this thinking this was going to be one of those stories where while things are building between OC and Namjoon, she's totally oblivious/in denial about it because she's still so caught up on Taehyung until some sort of "are you an idiot, woman?!" moment. But I'm so pleasantly surprised this is not the case and from the get go she is open to admitting and exploring her feelings for him. And that she went for it! This is a much more interesting way of navigating the arc of this love triangle and I really appreciate that choice for OC. That's what I love about your stories the most, they always subvert my expectations.

But as a side note, these two seem to be worrying about what the Taehyung of it all means for the two of them, but what about the fact that they are roommates?! That's awkward, guys! They didn't really have to navigate it yet since he immediately went out of town after their make out session, but I absolutely cannot imagine having to cohabitate with someone you are openly crushing on/trying to date. I would be a nervous wreck.

Taehyung is still be annoying af, but the fact that OC herself has recognized at this point that their relationship is a bit unhealthy and is not a total victim to his antics has made me soften on him a bit. But I'm sure as he feels her start to distance herself, he is not going to react very maturely. I'm so curious to learn more about their backstory! At face value, they seem to not have a ton in common, but I'm sure there is a deep history there having spent their formative years together. And since it's something we all have experienced, I love this opportunity to explore how friendships and closeness change as two people grow and mature in their own ways. I like the choice that you've made though to not share the full backstory with us yet, because it puts us in Namjoon's perspective coming in to the situation and not quite understanding what the pull is between them. Hopefully we will learn more, maybe when OC decides to share it with Namjoon herself?

ahhhh thank you :') i had a lot of things i "didn't want" for this story and i can't say some of them yet bc spoilers, but one of them was i didn't want that "oblivious bc of my other feelings" storyline. i wanted namjoon and oc both in it from the beginning, so i'm glad that's something you're liking!

and who knows. at least one city allllways gets a "due to popular demand" date addition at the last minute even though it's is always planned from the start and it's just a tactic to get people to buy tickets in a hurry before they "sell out" (which they never do, spoiler alert. there are ALWAYS tickets available). additional cities though, idk.
