It was more out of curiosity that we set out to explore the Golden Triangle cities because when they were first recommended a thought that crossed our minds was, "What's so golden about these cities?" So set out we did and were we in for one of the most pleasant and satisfying of journeys that any traveler can take on. Of course, the prospect of being in India, a country known for its splendor, thrills, hospitality and a fair share of misadventures (for the non-cautious) is in itself overwhelming. Add to that a dash of mystery, a pinch of adventure and a touch of exploration and you've signed up for a memorable holiday.

Our journey started at New Delhi, India's capital and the nucleus city of all Golden Triangle tours. It couldn't have been a better start or a greater precursor to the tour. Delhi is a comfortable city, especially for first-timers to India. Love and melancholy emanate from every stone, every carving and it's as if the monument speaks to you. You need a complete day to do justice to the Taj. Agra also plays host to a few more wonders such as the Fatehpur Sikri and the Red Fort which may not be among the seven wonders but are good rivals for the Taj.

A trip to Jaipur is what completes a typical Golden Triangle Tour and my, what a way to complete any journey! The sheer contrast between the landscapes and sights of Agra and Jaipur is itself breathtaking. The crowned heads of Rajasthan have left behind such wonders that you can't but envy them. Fortunately, its one place in India where you get to experience royalty just the way the royals did. From being serenaded to pampered to indulged, you'll only be the greediest person alive to ask for more! In addition to being just what a tourist wants Jaipur throws in a few extras such as wildlife sanctuaries, desert safaris and the works.

So it's safe to say we discovered the goldenness in the golden triangle cities. In fact, it was rather obvious from the day the journey started!

«Trash, un cazzo». L' espressione migliore per strappare Tommaso Labranca, indimenticata firma culturale di Libero, allo stereotipo del rovistatore di spazzatura nazionalpopolare («l' uomo che ha inventato il coattismo!») in cui lo incasellavano è stata questa del critico musicale Michele Monina, presente come molti di noi al funerale di Tommaso l' estate di quattro anni fa.

Il mondo letterario aveva avvolto, anche da morto, Labranca nella bandiera del trash dati i suoi successi sulla cultura di massa - Andy Warhol era un coatto, L' estasi del pecoreccio, Chaltron Hescon su tutti-; ma Monina, nell' epicedio all' amico, s' era soffermato sull' attitudine labranchiana a ritrovarsi irrequieto nomade in tutti i territori delle arti e delle lettere.

Per me, Labranca è sempre stato, per indole e stile, una sorta di mix tra Luciano Bianciardi e Truman Capote. Un talento invincibile. Passava dalle biografie di Warhol - di cui era uno dei massimi esperti mondiali - a quelle sui miti del pop che gli assicuravano la pagnotta; inventava riviste d' arte assieme a Luca Rossi per conto di editori del Canton Ticino; scriveva testi per la tv, Rai e La7. E aveva tradotto i migliori autori americani contemporanei - da Lisa Goldstein a Oliver James a Flocker Michael che introdusse la teoria sociale del Metrosexual-; e prodotto le miglior opere di narrativa mordi e fuggi come Il fagiano Jonathan Livingston. Manifesto contro la New Age, o Kaori non sei unica. La prima antologia di letteratura spot. Una mente errabonda.

archeologo del trash Eppure, all' indomani della dipartita, negli epitaffi sui giornaloni venne descritto come l' archeologo del trash: geniale ma incompreso, onnivoro ma incompleto, facondo ma con una tendenza all' autodistruzione. Forse in questo stesso equivoco è caduto Claudio Giunta che ha ne scritto l' unica biografia, Le alternative non esistono - La vita e le opere di Tommaso Labranca (Il Mulino, pp.256, euro 23), e Dio e noi tutti gliene rendiamo merito.

Epperò, nell' ossessione per un personaggio all' apparenza felliniano e blasé al tempo stesso - girocollo nero, borselli a tracolla molto anni 8o, occhiale pesante in contrasto coi pensieri lievi - il biografo ha sfruculiato dettagli oscuri tralasciando un po' la luce che Tommaso lasciava promanare dai suoi pensieri, opere e soprattutto omissioni. Ma sì, certo è utile conoscere di Labranca le umili origini talora trasformate in frustrazioni: «Il padre, oltre a fare il gommista, si è messo a lavorare a una pompa di benzina; la madre ha trovato lavoro come baby-sitter. Nel corso della sua vita Labranca non ha veramente cambiato classe sociale.

Ha sempre vissuto a Pantigliate, dove i suoi genitori si erano trasferiti negli anni '80», scrive Giunta.

Che poi ritira fuori la vecchia polemica dei suoi finti amici di sinistra che, negli ultimi anni, tendevano ad evitarlo perché scriveva su Libero «ma che ovviamente non basta a liquidarlo come reazionario destrorso.

A dispetto dei toni spesso apocalittici, non pensava affatto - come i néo-réac a cui ogni tanto lo si assimila, a torto - che la civiltà occidentale fosse al tramonto, distrutta dal neoliberismo e/o dalla secolarizzazione. Era del parere che le cose andassero a rotoli, in Italia, soprattutto per colpa degli italiani». E questo è corretto. Epperò questa cosa che Libero lo usasse come «censore delle ipocrisie della sinistra» è un falso storico. Tommaso ha sempre avuto mano libera su tutto.

Al punto che qui era tornato al suo vecchio pallino, la critica d' arte. Lo ribadisco: Labranca era il più veloce tra quelli bravi e il più bravo fra quelli veloci.

Naturalmente, quando lo si inviava a recensire una mostra, curatori e galleristi velavano lo sguardo di fiero terrore; e lui - autore pensoso a ritmo annuale per Einaudi e a scansione settimanale per l' Anima mia di Fabio Fazio - mandava, nei tempi ristrettissimi del quotidiano, il pezzo perfetto.

A questi passaggi, al suo essere un reietto a sinistra, molti degli "amici" intellettuali che dirigevano riviste, creavano programmi tv, o erano responsabili di collane editoriali non hanno mai accennato (né l' hanno mai aiutato).

le umiliazioni Epperò, ha ragione Giunta quando scrive che Tommaso misurava giorno per giorno come un sismografo gli affronti, le umiliazioni ma anche «i piccoli progressi della sua notorietà». La sua vita agra è stata quella, appunto, di un Bianciardi riaggiornato. Anche, sentendo questa definizione, gli verrebbe l' itterizia; e magari, per la paranoia, indosserebbe il vestito da coniglio che sfoderava alle feste. Labranca era fieramente stanziale. Il suo mondo immaginario passava dai grandi autori russi ai concerti di David Bowie, alla factory del Greenwitch Village anni 80; ma lo potevi geolocalizzare, magari accanto all' amica Orietta Berti, in un mondo piccolo esclusivamente compreso nel triangolo Milano-Lugano-Pantigliate paese/sobborgo al cui codice di avviamento postale aveva dedicato il nome della sua piccola casa editrice.

Nonostante qualche dimenticanza e qualche prospettiva inesatta, la biografia di Tommaso Labranca, l' irregolare degli irregolari, è un lascito necessario per la posterità. Vi sono dieci sue righe illuminanti di Tommaso, stimolato in un' intervista intorno ad un capitolo sulle ipocrisie italiane di un libro che non riuscì mai a scrivere: «Un capitolo sulla società civile, sugli indignati, su coloro che insultano la nazione che li mantiene grazie alle pensioni dei genitori presso cui vivono ancora a 40 anni, su quelli che sono andati a fare la fame all' estero convinti di rientrare così nella fuga dei cervelli. Insomma, tutta la fuffa anonima che passa la giornata al computer nella patetica illusione di essere intelligente, progressista, antagonista». Trash, un cazzo.

Some of them are the wood/stone carvings from Tamil Nadu, the marble and zardozi work from Agra, wood carving from Saharanpur, brass wares from Moradabad, hand made carpets from Bhadohi, Pottery from Khurja, Chikan work from Lucknow, silk & zari work from Banaras, shawls & carpets from Kashmir/Gujarat etc.

CULTURE :

 Beautiful and breath-taking performances can be seen like the BRIJ BHUMI folk dances which keeps us rooted with our culture . 

The Mahotsav also exhibit the performance from renowned artistes in classical, semi-classical and popular art forms.

CUISINES:

Wide variety of food can be found and one can enjoy different food fusions.

FUN RIDES :

Teenagers and adults enjoy various rides and roller coaster while children are happy with small ride such as merry-go-round, Train-rides and Ferris wheel.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE :

I remember going to taj Mahotsav every year except the year when I had my board exams .

I actually love the exquisite clothes & jewellery collection which is new every year. And my mumma always bargain and get me very pretty clothes at good prices ;)

The pretty soft toys can be bought at very reasonable rates.

Although  i’m not a foodie but the kebab parantha roll of Wahid briyani , Lucknow  is just mouth watering.

I visit it with my family and friends every year and its worth a visit .
