Part 2 HeadCanons MySt: Gene & Dante
I love these two and I would die for them. /hj As much of a red flag Gene is, I'm fixing him... kind of. Not really. Dante deserves so much better than he got, and wow the issues. Dante, my man. He has issues. Gene does too and a lot of Dante's issues are because of Gene. Dante has had to deal with Gene being the focus of attention because Gene has a lot of personality disorders that made him dangerous and terrifying. Dante's parents divorced when he and Gene were rather young, and his father tried to love-bomb him into staying. He didn't, he decided to live with his mom because he loved her and Gene. Dante and Gene are both dream-eating vampires, because why not? They have to bite someone's neck, kinda connecting to the brain and heartbeat, and they can feed off of the dream. The kind of dreams they eat also influences their moods in the morning and sometimes for the day. Dante has a fear of people leaving and constantly seeks approval because he wants to be noticed by others. I also think he's much more of a nerd than he leads on. Definitely plays D&D... He's a DM and DMs for Garroth and Laurance, sometimes Zane. Dante also doesn't know that senior year of highschool, he accidentally got Nicole pregnant, and she kept the baby(Dmitri). Eventually when he finds out (6 years later), he's going to freak out because that baby could have so many mental problems, be a vampire, or have his fatal peanut allergy. Dante also has two birds, one a blue budgie named R2D2 and the other a cockatiel named 3CPO (NERD). Gene has a lot of personality disorders. NPD, BPD, and OCD specifically. He suffers from a lot of intrusive thoughts and has a really hard time abstaining from the thoughts. He's also a dream vampire, and since he lives with Sasha and Zenix he can technically eat off of them whenever he wants, but he prefers to stay away from Zenix's weird ass dreams. In the SK household, they've all got enough problems that they get a little dixie cup full of medication that they have to take. Zenix insists on having one even though he only has one or two medications. Gene has a bird name Marilyn Manson Monroe, or MMM for short. They call her Monroe half of the time and she's an African Grey parrot. Gene got her when she was 60 and he was 17, so he has seen a lot of her. Gene has also been to prison for arson, the mental hospital three times when he was younger and once when he got out of prison. He got into therapy once he was out of the mental hospital for the fourth time. He did not have a fun time when he was older, espeically when he was older. He's doing a lot better and trying to fix his faults. There was a time that Sasha, Zenix, and Gene went to a bar, and when they were leaving Zenix made the joke that they were going to the "grippy sock place" Gene was drunk, meds wearing off, and terrifed he punched Zenix twice and tried to stop Sasha from driving. Luckily they didn't die, but Zenix had a black eye and a bloody nose for a while.

Gotham Favorite Animals
Part One
Ivy Pepper
She doesn’t like animals (bc they survive off plants or others that eat plants)
If you forced her to pick one she would chose Bees bc they pollinate flowers
Selina Kyle
Let’s not pretend it’s anything other than cats
She tells people it’s black cats specifically
She’s a liar
It’s calico cats bc she likes how much variety their coats have
Bruce Wayne
He’s a basic bitch
Golden retrievers have so much energy and excitement that distracts him from his problems
When he was little he probably begged his parents for a dog
Fish Moony
I bet you thought I was gonna pick a species of fish huh?
You’re wrong it’s a black jaguar
from a far, their coats look solid black, cold and strong, hard and stoic
Up close you can see the patterns in the fur, like how once you get close to fish you get little glimpses of how she cares
Lee Tompkins
Porcupines!
They’re cute and cuddly but if you threaten them enough, you need to back off or seek medical attention
Barbra Keen
Praying mantis
Even though she doesn’t like bugs, there is an exception to every rule
Praying mantis ladies kill the men after mating, and she certainly tries!
Ed Nygma
He prides himself on his intelligence, so he needs an animal on the same level
Considering it can learn up to 200 words & gestures, African grey parrots obviously catch his attention
He also likes birds in general bc they can fly as a way to escape danger, an advantage not many other species have
Definitely not bc birds remind him of a certain ex mayor
Oswald Cobblepott
It used to be seals bc they’re a predator of penguins, and he was trying to get rid of the nickname
After learning to accept the nickname it changed
Surprise! It’s penguins
Victor Fries
Bc he survives only in the cold, I figured he’d pick something he has a chance of interaction with
His wife also had an impact, bc she was bright and playful before she got sick
An arctic fox reflects these traits, but it also can be fierce when hunting or threatened, like him

Do you have any PrUk headcanons, if you do. GIMME
I'm glad you asked.
-When they first met as children somewhere between 1100 and 1300, Arthur was both fascinated and puzzled by Gilbert's appearance. He could sense a similar presence to his own, yet the boy looked like no nation he'd ever seen before. Rather, he looked a great deal more like a fairy, and Arthur took to calling him Fairy Boy. Gilbert initially felt wary of this, as he'd heard fairies were evil and already got compared to evil creatures enough as it was. Arthur informed him, however, that he liked fairies, and Gilbert's defences lessened slightly.
-They developed feelings for each other during the 1500s, but neither of them would admit this to themselves no matter how much Gilbert claimed it was to "keep an eye on the troublesome pirate" or Arthur claimed his urge to seek out the priest was simply due to him being fun to mess with.
-Arthur definitely has a thing for Gilbert in that cassock, by the way.
-They share an interest in fantasy and folklore. Prussia is actually rather curious about England's magical friends and in turn, England likes to hear Prussia talk about German legends of the lorelei and other beings.
-They both enjoy Legend of Zelda. One Halloween, Gilbert dressed up as a Sheikah while Arthur was Link. Arthur even had one of his fairies join him as Navi.
-One thing Gilbert found frustrating for a while was how Arthur always seemed to be surrounded by other people. He had so many relations (some good, many not) and Gilbert wondered how well he could actually break through and catch his attention.
-Francis and Lovino were convinced Arthur and Gilbert had a thing for each other and tried to play matchmaker. Francis because he's the nation of love, Lovino because their beating around the bush was driving him nuts. Arthur and Gilbert opposed them, first wanting to reconnect and build up their friendship after having been separated (thanks to Gilbert being forced to live with Ivan for a while) before thinking about anything else, but even when they started acknowledging their romantic feelings they were content to let things develop naturally, including when Arthur started to suspect the romantic feelings were mutual – although Arthur did get a little bolder with flirting.
-Gilbert is an openly aggressive man with a gentle side. Arthur is a self-proclaimed gentleman who attempts to mask his aggressive side. They both need an outlet and don't get the chance to fight in battles as often as they used to, so they make up for it by roughhousing together.
-They both LOVE teasing the other, albeit not vindictively. They try to avoid sensitive topics, mostly just wanting to say whatever they can to get the other flustered.
-Gilbert has a habit of pulling Arthur's cheeks when he finds himself flustered or frustrated with the man. Arthur either swats his hands away, pulls Gilbert's cheeks in return, or just bites him like the feral thing he is.
-Gilbert doesn't actually think that highly of Francis, something that Arthur was very pleased to discover. In addition, whenever Gilbert plays pranks or makes jokes at the expense of other nations, Arthur will be laughing HARD. If he's not already doing the same thing right along with him, that is.
-After getting romantically involved, Arthur started calling Gilbert "vögelchen" since he was always comparing himself to a little bird, and Gilbert started calling Arthur "robin" after his national bird.
-Although Arthur finds Gilbert's love of animals endearing, Gilbert has a terrible habit of trying to convince him to take in strays that he can't convince Ludwig to let inside.
-Back when Arthur was a privateer, he owned an African grey parrot. He named it Gill due to the feathers around its neck resembling fish gills and possibly also to poke fun at Gilbert since parrots are known for being loud and talkative.
-They like to sing and play music together. Arthur used to claim Gilbert's voice was like nails on a chalkboard, but after some time he had to struggle with the fact he started to find it /attractive/.
That's all for now because I don't want this post to get too long, but please, feel free to ask more questions about them whenever~

Mark Parrotisms
Dropping off some Mark bird behaviors because my brain is burnt out from studying, and quite frankly I could use some mindless fandom fun. Some of these are based in more specific African grey behavior while others are just general parrot things.
○ Very good at imitating mechanical/beeping sounds (fun trick to show off at raves)
○ Prone to phobic behavior and damaging his own feathers when anxious
○ Complex, highly sensitive and more than a little demanding
○ But also charming and brilliant (mix of sensitivity and brains leads to behavioral issues)
○ Creature of habit: a small change in routine can make him very agitated (or downright mean)
○ Doesn’t appreciate intense physical contact from most people unless he initiates it
○ Loud and destructive when upset
○ Will seek attention with random loud noises when he’s feeling particularly insecure (or caps locking the shit out of his social media posts)
○ Often nips when he’s jealous
A final random tidbit worth noting is that “only experienced bird enthusiasts should keep a grey”. My general conclusion from too much parrot research: they chose his species very well.

Discover the Magnificent Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot
The Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot has its origins in the coastal regions of Mexico. They are found in tropical and sub-tropical rain forests, savannahs and mangrove swamps in addition to Belize, Honduras and Guatemala. They can even be found in cultivated areas as long as there are trees at hand for nesting.
Due to their nesting habitats being destroyed through deforestation, illegal trade and poaching these magnificent birds are now considered rare and have been added to the endangered species list.
Many people are drawn to the Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot by its flashy coloring. If you believe this is the parrot for you, you need to keep in mind that this will be a long-term commitment as these brilliantly colored birds can live from 60 to 80 years.
However, if you are willing to take on this commitment, you will enjoy many hours of companionship, pleasure and entertainment.
Even though they are on the endangered species list Yellow Headed Amazons are bred in captivity and are widely available as pets. Along with the African Gray Parrot they are one of the most popular parrot species. This is due to their beautiful plumage and their gift for vocalization. They run a close second to the African Grey, which is considered to be the number one "talker" among parrots.
The ability to talk can vary widely from bird to bird. Some Yellow Headed Amazons are outstanding talkers, while others may never "speak" at all. Even if they don't pick up many words, they still love attention and will be loud and playful to try to get it. Yellow Headed Amazon Parrots are extremely playful, funny, active and intelligent birds.
Many people say that this is the loudest species of parrot! But if you are willing to put in a little time and training it shouldn't be too difficult to replace the screeching with human speech.
Just like all parrots, their diet and nutrition are are one of most important factors in their health. As pets these birds will bloom on a high quality diet of commercial pelleted food as the staple, along with fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and grains.
The Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot uses it's beak to crack seeds and nuts. Their sturdy, hooked beaks are also useful for climbing, grasping and exploring their environment. They use their feet, as well as their beaks, for climbing. The way their feet are made, with two toes pointing forwards and two toes pointing backwards they are well suited for grasping.
Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot generally grow to be over a foot in length, even up to 15 or 16 inches. The female, just like most other species, is slightly smaller than the male.
When choosing a cage for your bird you need to get the largest one you can afford. It would be even better if you could house your parrot in an aviary as this is considered the best environment for them. The more room they have the more they are able to move around and fly freely. They can also do well in large cages as long as they get to spend time out of them each day, time interacting with their human families and have plenty of toys and branches to play with and chew on.
If you don't provide enough mental stimulation and socialization your bird may develop destructive (and self destructive) behaviors.
If you are seeking a brilliantly colored and majestic companion with a keen intellect, in addition to a playful and loving nature, then you can fill the bill with a Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot.

Why is my bird plucking? Non-Medical Causes of Feather Plucking
(Here is a thing I wrote for a Wordpress blog! Contains academic sources!)
Feather plucking in birds can be a confusing situation. Sometimes birds pluck themselves, sometimes they pluck other members of the flock; the cause can be a medical issue or the cause can be a behavioral problem. In this post, we'll take a look at the non-medical side to feather plucking.
Note: If your bird is plucking, please do not try to diagnose the cause on your own. Seek veterinary care, as the plucking could be caused by an underlying condition.
Birds are incredibly smart creatures, and without the proper environment and stimulation, they can turn to self-mutilation. Likely causes for behavioral-based plucking include stress, separation anxiety, lack of enrichment/interaction and attention seeking. It's also important for bird owners not to encourage behavioral plucking, especially if plucking is used as an attention grabber.
However, in a study called "Nonmedical Factors Associated with Feather Picking in Pet Psittacine Birds," published in the 2014 issue of Journal of Avian Medicine and Surgery, researchers found that some species are more inclined to pluck. They found that African greys and cockatoos were more likely to pluck than other birds. A few other studies included macaws and eclectus parrots as being more likely to pluck. The researchers also found that rescue birds and birds given more than eight hours of out-of-cage-time were more likely to pluck.
So why would African greys and cockatoos be singled out as the most likely to pluck? African greys are extremely intelligent birds -- they're compared to human toddlers for a reason. Their intelligence may lend them to be more likely to suffer from lack of interaction and enrichment and turn to feather plucking. Cockatoos are also intelligent birds, but lean toward the affectionate side. Cockatoos crave socialization, and if they are denied that, especially if it is a single bird, they may pluck due to separation anxiety, lack of interaction or attention-seeking behavior.
On the flip side, over-stimulation can lead to plucking and feather damaging behaviors, too. Lack of sleep or downtime and constant noise (think young children playing or a noisy neighborhood) are examples of over-stimulation that are likely to cause stress and possibly feather plucking.
Mating behavior and territorial behavior may also lead to feather plucking. Either of these could lead to one bird plucking its flockmate. If this occurs, the owner needs to separate the two to prevent further aggression.
Why is your bird plucking? Even on the behavior-based/non-medical side, there is a plethora of reasons why a bird may pluck. Other research, which wasn't even discussed in this article, cites cage placement, sex and obsessive grooming as causes. It can be difficult to pin down the exact reason. The best way to answer the "why" is to evaluate yourself, your bird and your relationship. If you are able to examine your bird's behavior, diet, sleep schedule, toys, etc., you can narrow down your possible causes.
A vet can help you diagnose the cause of your bird's plucking, as well as correct it.

Should You Get A Pet Bird? 8 Things To Consider
“Polly want a cracker?”
Many people think that owning a playful, colorful parakeet or parrot will be nothing but fun, but living with one is far different from the assumption that all you’ve got to do is refill their birdseed and water every day.
Even birds as small as parakeets can live 5 to 8 years, and African grey parrots and Macaws can live from 35 to 50 years or more. That’s a huge commitment.
Here are eight essential things to consider before you bring home a pet bird.
1. Sensitivity
Birds cannot tolerate houseplants, smoke, hairspray, perfume, air fresheners, scented candles or Teflon-coated cooking pans. In fact, the invisible fumes that come from cooking on Teflon-coated pans are fatal to birds. Their respiratory systems are extremely sensitive and cannot tolerate any of these substances.
2. Disease
Birds can transmit airborne diseases (including avian tuberculosis) to humans, and their dander can aggravate those who suffer from breathing problems such as asthma, COPD, and emphysema. HEPA air filters can help reduce feather dander, but if anyone in your home is sensitive, maybe another type of pet would be a wiser choice.
3. Noise
Unless you’re happy with small, jumpy finches or canaries who make little peeps throughout the day (both of which are not generally sweet and loving), be prepared for a lot of noise. Even parakeets – as small as they are – can cause you ear pain, if not hearing loss if they decide to chirp on your shoulder for an extended amount of time. The only time it’s quiet is at night. Another thing to keep in mind: As with chickens, domesticated birds wake up with the sun. If you can’t handle that, consider placing their cages in a windowless room.
4. Mess
Birds eat constantly when it’s light outside. There is no such thing as three meals a day. Whatever seeds they eat come in two parts: the hull and the meat. They remove the hulls and eat the meat, and the hulls drop to the floor. You’ll have to vacuum at least once a day. Keep in mind, too, that pet birds will shred paper, wood, plastic, cords and anything they can get their beaks around.
5. Flight
Unless you want your bird to fly around the house or even escape through the front door and possibly get lost forever, you must clip their wings. Don’t attempt to do this on your own without learning how to clip wings correctly. Done properly, the task is as easy as clipping your nails. Done incorrectly and you could permanently damage the bird’s ability to fly. If you’re nervous, you can take the bird to the vet or to the place you adopted him from to have professionals do the job.
6. Room
When you buy your bird, make sure that it lives in a cage large enough that it can move around and flap its wings, or install some prefab branches (available at your local pet store) somewhere in your home so it can land there to rest. If you don’t want to house your bird inside your home, you can build a separate aviary for its comfort.
7. Attention
Birds are like human toddlers. They’re social creatures who adore constant attention from their humans. And that includes scratching under their wings, rubbing their necks and letting them sleep in your shirt pocket (if they’re small enough). If you’re not the cuddly type, then perhaps seek out a pet that prefers solitude.
8. Biting
A parakeet can bite hard enough to draw blood. A Macaw can take your finger off. Never taunt a bird with anything you can’t afford to lose, and be very careful when they get near your face. Birds usually won’t bite down with all their strength unless they feel threatened, but it’s better to be safe than sorry, even if your pet has been in your home for years.
Birds are extremely loving, loyal pets, but owning them is a major commitment of time and effort. If you determine that they’re right for you and your family, you’ll be rewarded with a lifetime of love.

Based on the principles of social learning, model-rival training uses a model, or a rival for attention, to demonstrate the desired behaviour.[65] The method was used by Irene Pepperberg to train Alex the African Grey Parrot to label a large number of objects. McKinley and Young undertook a pilot study on the applicability of a modified version of the model-rival method to the training of domestic dogs, noting that the dog’s origins as a member of large and complex social groups promote observational learning. The model-rival training involved an interaction between the trainer, the dog, and a person acting as a model-rival, that is, a model for desired behaviour and a rival for the trainer’s attention. In view of the dog, a dialogue concerning a particular toy commenced between the trainer and the model-rival. The trainer praised or scolded the model-rival depending on whether the model-rival had named the toy correctly. It was found that the performance times for completion of the task were similar for dogs trained with either operant conditioning or the model rival method. In addition, the total training time required for task completion was comparable for both methods.[66] The benefits from learning from a trainer of trainers are numerous. Rather than focusing on one training method and hoping for the best, Professor Donaldson has worked with numerous approaches, so she is well aware of the frustrations and concerns that come with the trendy training methods—especially since many of them are based on old “pack status” assumptions that have been debunked. Instead, Professor Donaldson has honed a data-driven technique that has been validated by current behavior science. Keep your training sessions short, consistent and always have fun. The key to shaping your puppy’s behavior is to start out with very easy commands, continue to build on these successes and apply heaps of repetition. Base your puppy training sessions around trust and mutual respect rather than old school methods based on punishment, avoidance and harsh corrections. In this environment you will find that your puppy loves his training sessions and his confidence will grow with each and every session. Before you ever try to get your pup to step foot in their new crate, or even step near it, place the crate in a room where your dog spends a lot of his or her time. Remove or open the crate door, so your dog feels secure about exploring the ins and outs of their soon-to-be home. If he naturally shy’s away, that’s okay. Don’t force your dog to become familiar, rather try sitting beside the crate, and speaking to your pup in a friendly tone, placing treats around, and then eventually inside the crate until he finally steps in. But then I did further research
I then gave myself a set of questions to answer in order to get a better understand of parrots and what could cause them to act odd.
What parrots talk and makes noises?
Why does the parrot make noise?
What can stop the parrot from chatting?
What does a parrot do if you shout?
I like the idea of a parrot that is constantly chatty and might get on someone’s nerves as parrots are known for being chatty.
This helped me narrow down some parrots which could potentially be the design: a budgie, ringneck parakeet, african grey, cockatoo, cockatiel, green cheek canure.
African grey can whistle and ringneck parakeets can sing but I wanted a happy parrot, friendly, attention seeking, curious and chatty which I found in the cockatiel.
I found so much information about all kinds of parrots online and these are just a few:
https://www.thespruce.com/top-talking-bird-species-390534
http://www.mit.edu/~rei/Birds-food.html - this site addresses when someone gets a new bird. Clean their bowl daily as otherwise they’ll find it gross and do not feed your bird chocolate.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzZ1N0UNb9E There are loads of these types of compilation videos of parrots being cute and funny which helped me decide what parrot to choose.
youtube
The video above addresses how to stop a bird from screaming, by ignoring him as if you scream back he’ll think he’s got your attention.
I also took colours into consideration when choosing a parrot as I wanted to portray a happy parrot so maybe the African Grey would have to be a miss.
I then found this video which completely sold me on having a cockatiel as a the character. The video below is of a very musical cockatiel who bangs his head on a tambourine which I found really funny.

Talking birds Sometime ago, an African grey parrot was in the news because of his amazing ability to hold intelligent conversation in English. He is reported to have an impressive vocabulary of a little less than 1000 words. Intrigued by this amazing incident, the Spiritual Science Research Foundation (SSRF) conducted Spiritual research into various details of the parrot and his talking ability. This research was conducted through the highly advanced extrasensory perception (ESP) ability or sixth sense of SSRF seekers. The following are some of the finds of the spiritual research conducted into this phenomenon. How are birds able to speak? As a rule, since the basic intelligence of birds is extremely limited (restricted to fulfilling its basic needs of hunger, sleep, sex, etc.), it is impossible for birds to achieve the feat of talking and acquiring an extensive vocabulary. The ability to speak in birds is because they are either affected or possessed by a ghost (demon, devil, negative energy, etc.) or because the bird is a devolved human being, that is, it was a human being in its past life. A human being can be devolved to be born into a lower species either because of his own wish or if he has excess of demerits or is cursed by a spiritually evolved person. In fact, Spiritual research has revealed that nowadays 30% of animals are devolved humans. Why would a spiritually evolved human being wish to take birth in animals or birds? A spiritually evolved being can opt to take birth in the animal or bird species out of his own free will to pursue his spiritual practice undisturbed by the distractions faced in a human birth. It is possible for spiritually evolved beings to carry on spiritual practice even when in the animal or bird species because 98% of spiritual practice is subtle and internal to the person, i.e. not in terms of any tangible actions. When a spiritually evolved being takes birth in a lower species, ie. as an animal or a bird, it is up to him to also decide when to end that existence. Why is this parrot able to speak? In this particular case, the parrots ability to speak and to acquire an extensive vocabulary is because he is a devolved human being. He has not come down of his own free will. Hence, he does not remember his past human birth. He has come down as punishment for his demerits. He was a person at a spiritual level of 30% with intense desire to be the centre of attention. A strong attention seeking habit also results in a demerit as it enhances the ego, which is detrimental for spiritual growth.
