Most people recognize that there are first names given almost exclusively by black Americans to their children, such as Jamal and Latasha.
While fodder for comedians and social commentary, many have assumed that these distinctively black names are a modern phenomenon. My research shows that’s not true.
Long before there was Jamal and Latasha, there was Booker and Perlie. The names have changed, but mycolleagues and I traced the use of distinctive black names to the earliest history of the United States.
As scholars of history, demographics and economics, we found that there is nothing new about black names.
youtube
Black Names Aren’t New
Many scholars believe that distinctively black names emerged from the civil rights movement, perhaps attributable to the Black Power movement and the later black cultural movement of the 1990s as a way to affirm and embrace black culture. Before this time, the argument goes, blacks and whites had similar naming patterns.
Historical evidence does not support this belief.
Until a few years ago, the story of black names depended almost exclusively on data from the 1960s onward. New data, such as the digitization of census and newly available birth and death records from historical periods, allows us to analyze the history of black names in more detail.
We used federal census records and death certificates from the late 1800s in Illinois, Alabama and North Carolina to see if there were names that were held almost exclusively by blacks and not whites in the past. We found that there were indeed.
For example, in the 1920 census, 99 percent of all men with the first name of Booker were black, as were 80 perecent of all men named Perlie or its variations. We found that the fraction of blacks holding a distinctively black name in the early 1900s is comparable to the fraction holding a distinctively black name at the end of the 20th century, around 3 percent.
What Were the Black Names Back Then?
We were interested to learn that the black names of the late 1800s and early 1900s are not the same black names that we recognize today.
The historical names that stand out are largely biblical such as Elijah, Isaac, Isaiah, Moses and Abraham, and names that seem to designate empowerment such as Prince, King and Freeman.
These names are quite different from black names today such as Tyrone, Darnell and Kareem, which grew in popularity during the civil rights movement.
Once we knew black names were used long before the civil rights era, we wondered how black names emerged and what they represented. To find out, we turned to the antebellum era – the time before the Civil War – to see if the historical black names existed before the emancipation of slaves.
Since the census didn’t record the names of enslaved Africans, this led to a search of records of names from slave markets and ship manifests.
Using these new data sources, we found that names like Alonzo, Israel, Presley and Titus were popular both before and after emancipation among blacks. We also learned found that roughly 3 percent of black Americans had black names in the antebellum period – about the same percentage as did in the period after the Civil War.
But what was most striking is the trend over time during enslavement. We found that the share of black Americans with black names increased over the antebellum era while the share of white Americans with these same names declined, from more than 3 percent at the time of the American Revolution to less than 1 percent by 1860.
By the eve of the Civil War, the racial naming pattern we found for the late 1800s was an entrenched feature in the U.S.

Why Is This Important?
Black names tell us something about the development of black culture, and the steps whites were taking to distance themselves from it.
Scholars of African American cultural history, such as Lawrence W. Levine, Herbert Gutman and Ralph Ellison, have long held that the development of African American culture involves both family and social ties among people from various ethnic groups in the African diaspora.
In other words, people from various parts of Africa came together to form black culture as we recognize it today. One way of passing that culture on is through given names, since surnames were stolen during enslavement.
How this culture developed and persisted in a chattel slavery system is a unique historical development. As enslavement continued through the 1800s, African American culture included naming practices that were national in scope by the time of emancipation, and intimately related to the slave trade.
Since none of these black names are of African origin, they are a distinct African American cultural practice which began during enslavement in the U.S.
As the country continues to grapple with the wide-ranging effects of enslavement in the nation’s history, we cannot – and should not – forget that enslavement played a critical role in the development of black culture as we understand it today.

The Fletcher-Manaker Project Doctors For The Poor Series
Introduction
This new Fletcher-Manaker Project Doctors For The Poor Series drive is aimed at attaining two objectives, namely (1) to earn monies for the granting of scholarships for qualified but needy students from several countries to study medicine and or nursing and (2) to make contribution to the World Health Organization as an "effective Invitation" for it to host two hands on workshops, one on using bacteriophages in clinical settings for combating multi-drug resistant bacterial infections and the other on the usage of pan available spices/herbs as adjuncts/herbs along with standard antibiotics to combat in clinical settings multi- drug resistant bacterial infections. Microbiologists and pharmacists from several major public hospitals in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region, from the largest public hospitals in four states in the United States along with representatives from several African countries are targeted for attendance. (Previous drive:-https://www.tumblr.com/a-basil-fletcher-things)
This document is divided into two sections. Section 1 addresses the now usual Fletcher-Manaker Project drive to provide funding for scholarships to study medicine or nursing and Section 2 covers the drive to earn funds to give to the World Health Organization as a contribution for carrying out of the two aforementioned workshops.
Doctors & Nurses For The Poor Series For Digital Textile & Digital Surface Designers- Revenues earned from the commercial use of these images will be used for the provision of medical and nursing school scholarships to male and female students of children of textile workers and cart pushers in India, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Mali, market vendors , sons and the daughters of fishermen in Sierra Leone and to students recommended by Doctors Without Borders in Nigeria and Tchad (African & Asians students will study in India), children of fishermen in Bluefields (Nicaragua), suitably qualified students from Haiti-students recommended by Doctors Without Borders and the Caribbean Coast of Colombia , in addition to two nursing scholarships to females of Mayan descent from Guatemala ( Guatemalan , Colombian, Haitian and Nicaraguan students will study in Cuba), to provide nursing school scholarships for female students of Newlands and Wallen Avenue in Portmore, Jamaica ( Excelsior Community College Scholarships via the five churches serving these communities) and to two (2) MMBS and three nursing scholarships to students of Kingston High School on Kings Street, Kingston to study in Cuba (In keeping with the Ellen Manaker’s Program presented below) and university/ college scholarships to the children of the lower middle class and working poor in Boston. The Kingston High School Problem
Kingston High School ( formerly Kingston Secondary School and before that Kingston Senior School) is located at the northern end of Kings Street, in Kingston. It is located about 300 meters South-West of the main offices of The Ministry of Education and about 50 meters South of The National Heroes Park. In spite of its “desirable location” it remains at the bottom of the ranks of high schools in the Kingston & St. Andrew Metropolitan area with few passes in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) . The truth be told, is that for much of its recent past the school functioned in the main as a “safe place” and “day care center” for children from the violence prone communities from which the bulk of its students come from.
The problem is further compounded by the fact that, unlike the high performing traditional high schools, the Kingston High School is not owned by the Church but rather by the Government of Jamaica, which means that the school does not get the high level of supervision, guidance and material support as do the traditional high schools which are owned by the Church.
Within this context, it would appear that the administrators of the KingstonHigh School have been facing challenges finding suitably qualified students to take up The Fletcher-Manaker Project Scholarships for students to study medicine and or nursing in Cuba.It is in this light The Ellen Manaker Program is being proposed. If the Kingston High School is able to produce students who are capable of taking up scholarships to study medicine, it will be able also to produce students capable of taking up scholarships for the study of engineering and other similar scholarships provided by other organizations and educational institutions.
The Ellen Manaker Program
The Kingston High School must submit all relevant information of the candidates they are putting forward for the medical scholarships to Cuba, at least two weeks before the opening of the scholarships, to the Office Of The President of The Brandeis University. No funding shall be provided if
the requirement of documentary submission is not met. Monies held back will be set aside for future scholarships to the school.
It is being proposed that US$1,000.00 be set aside to top up the salary of the teachers who is able to have at least 100 students passing mathematics at the CSEC level , with more money being paid out for grade 1 passes and less for grades 2 and 3 passes. This means that the teacher has have an examination pass rate of 100% to get the full US$1,000.00 . The same would apply to the teachers of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
US$ 5,000.00 will be dedicated to the above. A similar system of incentives will be put in place for the teachers of the Carbbean Advance Proficiency Examinations Units 1 and 2 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
This program is budgeted to cost US$12,000.00 per year with the Principal and Vice-Principal getting US$2,000.00 each on the delivery of the required 500 CSEC passes and at least ten of the required CAPE passes in the first two years . Money to be put aside for a ten year drive starting 2025 after which it will be up to the graduates of the Kingston High School to continue the program. Given that the Kingston High School is about 100 meters east of the Jewish Cemetry, the local synagogue can be approached to distribute the monies on obtaining copies of the examination results.

Section 2
The Fletcher- Manaker Project is also seeking to make an " Effective Invitation" to The World Health Organization to host two "hands on hand" workshops addressing (1) the
collection, identification and use of bacteriophage in combating multi-drug resistant bacterial infections and (2) the use of common pan-available spices and herbs as adjuncts /enablers to standard antibiotics in combating multi-drug resistant bacterial infections; by donating at- least 25% of all incomes generated from the commercial use of the images provided by The Fletcher-Manaker Project..
Microbiologists and pharmacists from the major public hospitals in Kingston, Jamaica W.I., St. Georges , Grenada W.I., Bluefields, Nicaragua, Port Au Prince, Haiti, Georgetown, Guyana, Port Of Spain, Trinidad, Havana, Cuba, Bogota and Medellin in Colombia, San Jose, Costa Rica, from the largest public hospitals in the states of Florida, New York, Georgia and California in the United States. Representatives from Mali, Ghana, Nigeria, Ethiopia and Kenya would also be invited..
It is hoped that these two workshops will provided the participants with the required knowledge, and skills to use in practice bacteriophage and herbal/spice interventions to combat multi-drug bacterial infections, and will get certificates of participation at the end of the workshops.
The Fletcher-Manaker Project will also be inviting major industrial players in the production and or sales of lab equipment and the major processors and distributors of spices to contribute through the Office of The President of The Brandeis University (USA) to the World Health Organization to give financial support to the World Health Organization to fund these two workshops.
End

Google Advertising is a pay-per-click (PPC) advertising model, meaning that advertisers only pay when someone clicks on their ads. These ads appear at the top or bottom of Google search results, marked with the word "Ad." They are designed to be highly relevant to the user's search query, making them an effective way to reach potential customers who are actively searching for travel packages or any services a company wants to show to the relevant audience. Having a strong online presence is crucial for businesses. A well-planned strategy is the foundation for successful campaigns that generate leads, increase conversions, and ultimately drive revenues for your travel agency. A. Importance of a well-planned strategy - Setting clear goals: Before diving into creating ads, it's crucial to define your objectives. Are you looking to increase website traffic, generate leads, or boost bookings for your travel packages? Setting specific and measurable goals allows you to tailor your strategy accordingly and track your progress effectively. - Understanding your target audience: To create compelling ads, you need to have a deep understanding of your target audience. Conduct market research to identify their demographics, interests, and pain points. This knowledge will help you craft ads that resonate with your audience and drive engagement. - Budget allocation: Determine your advertising budget and allocate it strategically across different campaigns and ad groups. Consider factors such as seasonality, competition, and the potential return on investment for each campaign. - Best Time for your campaign: If you need to push sales, you will need to consider the travel season. You don’t need to burn your cash in advertising your tour packages in the wrong season. - Choose what to promote: Let’s say you want to increase sales; my advice would be to choose the best package that you have well-studied and tested. The reason is simple: you want to sell it to the maximum number of travelers. B. Extensions like site link extensions, call extensions, and location extensions can improve the visibility and effectiveness of your ads. - Monitoring and optimization: Regularly monitor the performance of your ads and make data-driven optimizations. Analyse metrics such as click-through rate (CTR), conversion rate, and cost per conversion to identify areas for improvement. Adjust your bidding strategy, ad targeting, and ad copy as needed to maximize results. C. Example of a successful Google Advertising Strategy One potential successful Google Ad strategy for promoting an African safari package could be to target specific keywords related to safari experiences, wildlife, and adventure travel. By carefully selecting relevant keywords such as "African safari tours," "wildlife safaris in Africa," and "adventure travel in Africa," the ads can reach potential customers who are actively searching for these types of experiences. Additionally, incorporating captivating ad copy highlighting unique features of the safari package, such as "Witness the Big Five up close" or "Embrace the thrill of an authentic African safari," can greatly enhance the effectiveness of the ad campaign. Unlocking the Indian Market: Strategic Insights for African Agribusiness Firms
India, with its growing economy and large consumer base, offers a promising export destination for African agribusiness firms. Under initiatives like the Duty-Free Tariff Preference (DFTP) Scheme and the Global System of Trade Preferences (GSTP), African exporters have access to reduced or zero tariffs, particularly for Least Developed Countries (LDCs). This presents a golden opportunity for African agricultural businesses to tap into India's demand for products like pulses, oilseeds, spices, fruits, nuts, coffee, and more.
To succeed, however, African agribusiness firms must adopt strategic approaches to effectively navigate the Indian market's complexities and capitalize on its immense potential.
Strategies for Export Success in India
1. Leverage on Duty-free market access to LDC and Global System of Trade Preferences
India provides duty-free market access to Least Developed Countries (LDCs) under its Duty-Free Tariff Preference (DFTP) Scheme and participates in the Global System of Trade Preferences (GSTP), which facilitates preferential trade among developing countries.
Duty-Free Tariff Preference (DFTP) Program for LDCs
India provides duty-free market access for African exporters under the DFTP program, allowing exports with reduced or zero tariffs. Eligible African LDCs include:
DFTP-eligible countries:
Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, Chad, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, Central African Republic.
Global System of Trade Preferences (GSTP)
India, as a member of the GSTP, offers tariff reductions for trade between developing countries, including several African nations such as Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Sudan, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.
Key Benefits
The DFTP Scheme particularly benefits LDCs in sectors like agriculture, textiles, and manufacturing, enabling them to export to India with reduced or zero tariffs.
The GSTP facilitates trade among middle-income African countries and India by reducing tariffs on select goods, enhancing South-South trade.
2. Leverage B2B Platforms
India’s business ecosystem is heavily reliant on digital marketplaces like IndiaMART, TradeIndia, and ExportersIndia. Listing agricultural products on these platforms can significantly enhance visibility among Indian importers and manufacturers. Ensure your product listings are detailed, with clear specifications, certifications, and competitive pricing. Invest in high-quality visuals and descriptions to stand out in the crowded marketplace.
3. Establish a Local Representative
Having a local representative in India is invaluable. This representative can:
Build direct relationships with importers and manufacturers.
Provide insights into local business practices and regulatory requirements.
Facilitate timely responses to inquiries, enhancing trust and reliability.
Consider partnering with an Indian trade agent or setting up a small office to ensure continuous engagement with buyers.
4. Master Price Negotiations
Indian buyers are known for their strong negotiation skills, often focusing on securing the best value. To address this:
Research the market thoroughly to understand price benchmarks and competition.
Highlight the value proposition of your products, such as superior quality, sustainable sourcing, or fair-trade certifications.
Be flexible and prepared for detailed discussions on pricing, volumes, and logistics.
5. Navigate Cultural Nuances
India’s cultural diversity influences business negotiations and preferences:
Understand regional differences. For example, buyers in Maharashtra might prioritize delivery timelines, while those in Tamil Nadu may focus on product quality and certifications.
Build relationships through respectful communication and a willingness to adapt to local customs, including language preferences and etiquette.
Recognize the importance of trust-building. Regular engagement, punctual delivery, and consistency in quality help foster long-term partnerships.
6. Invest in Certifications and Standards
Indian buyers often require products to meet specific certifications such as FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) and ISO standards. Having these certifications in place boosts confidence in your products and facilitates smoother trade processes.
7. Target Specific Products with High Demand
Focus on exporting products with a proven demand in India:
Pulses and Oilseeds: Essential for India’s culinary needs.
Cashew Nuts and Cocoa Beans: Sought-after for the snack and confectionery industries.
Coffee and Spices: High demand for unique flavors and quality imports.
Millet and Sorghum: Gaining traction due to increasing awareness of healthy grains.
Potential for Shared Prosperity
India’s duty-free access and trade preferences create a fertile ground for African agribusinesses to thrive in one of the world’s largest markets. By adopting a strategic approach, leveraging digital platforms, establishing a local presence, understanding cultural nuances, and being adept at negotiations, African firms can unlock immense potential in the Indian market.
The collaboration between Africa and India has the power to not only boost trade but also foster deeper economic and cultural ties. For African exporters ready to embrace these strategies, India represents not just a market, but a partner in shared growth and prosperity.

How to Get Your Benin Tourist Visa: A Complete Overview
Benin, a beautiful West African nation, offers a rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant markets that attract tourists from around the world. If you’re planning to visit Benin for leisure, understanding the visa application process is essential. In this guide, we will walk you through everything you need to know about obtaining a Benin tourist visa, from eligibility requirements to application procedures.
Understanding the Benin Tourist Visa
A Benin tourist visa allows visitors to explore the country for leisure or recreational purposes. It is typically issued for short stays and can be either a single-entry or multiple-entry visa. Most tourists opt for the eVisa, which is a convenient and efficient option.
Who Needs a Tourist Visa for Benin?
Benin requires most foreign nationals to obtain a visa before entry. However, a few countries enjoy visa-free access. Check the latest list of visa exemptions on the official Benin government website to confirm whether you need a visa.
Types of Benin Tourist Visas
Benin offers two main types of tourist visas:
Short-Stay Visa (Single or Multiple Entry): Valid for stays of up to 30 days.
Long-Stay Visa (Multiple Entry): Valid for stays of up to 90 days.
Each type can be processed as an eVisa, which is easier and quicker to apply for compared to traditional visas.
Requirements for a Benin Tourist Visa
To apply for a Benin tourist visa, you need to prepare the following documents:
Passport: Valid for at least six months from your planned date of arrival in Benin.
Recent Passport-Size Photograph: As per standard dimensions.
Travel Itinerary: Proof of your travel plans, including flight tickets and hotel reservations.
Proof of Funds: Bank statements or financial documents demonstrating your ability to cover expenses during your stay.
Vaccination Certificate: A valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is mandatory.
Visa Application Form: Completed and signed, if applying through an embassy.
For the eVisa, you will need scanned copies of these documents for upload.
How to Apply for a Benin Tourist Visa
1. Online eVisa Application
The Benin eVisa platform is user-friendly and allows applicants to complete the process in a few simple steps. Here’s how:
Step 1: Visit the official eVisa portal.
Step 2: Select your visa type (short-stay or long-stay) and duration.
Step 3: Complete the online form with accurate details.
Step 4: Upload the required documents.
Step 5: Pay the visa fee online using a secure payment gateway.
Once submitted, your application will be processed, and you will receive the eVisa via email, usually within 24–72 hours. Print a copy and carry it during your travel.
2. Embassy/Consulate Application
If you prefer a traditional application process, you can apply through a Benin embassy or consulate. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Contact the nearest Benin diplomatic mission to obtain the visa application form.
Step 2: Fill out the form and gather the required documents.
Step 3: Submit your application in person or via mail.
Step 4: Pay the visa fee as instructed by the embassy.
Processing times may vary, so apply well in advance of your travel date.
Visa Fees and Processing Times
The cost of a Benin tourist visa depends on the type and duration:
Short-Stay eVisa: Approximately $50–$60.
Long-Stay eVisa: Approximately $100.
Processing times for eVisas range from 24 to 72 hours. Embassy applications may take longer, typically up to 10 business days.
Important Tips for a Smooth Application
Double-Check Information: Ensure all personal details are accurate and match your passport. Errors can lead to delays or rejection.
Apply Early: Begin the process at least 2–4 weeks before your intended travel date.
Keep Digital and Physical Copies: Carry a printed copy of your eVisa along with digital backups on your phone.
Follow Health Protocols: Carry your Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate and stay updated on other health advisories.
On Arrival in Benin
Upon arriving at Benin’s entry points, such as Cotonou Cadjehoun Airport, you will need to present:
A valid passport.
A printed copy of your approved eVisa.
Your Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.
Immigration officials may also ask for proof of funds and your travel itinerary, so have these documents handy.
Conclusion
Securing a Benin tourist visa is a straightforward process, especially with the availability of the eVisa system. By following the steps outlined in this guide and preparing your documents in advance, you can ensure a hassle-free application experience. Whether you’re exploring the historic city of Ouidah, relaxing on the beaches of Grand-Popo, or discovering Benin’s vibrant culture, your journey begins with a successful visa application.

The Strategic Importance of the CNCA Certificate in Angola’s Transit Trade Routes
Angola is a key player in Africa’s trade landscape, serving as a critical hub for transit routes with its strategic location and developing logistics infrastructure. The country’s ports, roads, and railways are not only vital for its own economy but also serve as essential corridors for neighboring countries and the broader continent. With the growing significance of transit trade, the organization and transparency of these routes have become paramount. This is where the CNCA Certificate (Conselho Nacional de Carregadores) emerges as a pivotal tool, supporting Angola’s strategic role in transit trade.
Why Is the CNCA Certificate Important?
In Angola, transit trade requires a structured system to ensure the efficient and secure movement of goods across its borders. The CNCA Certificate registers every step of the transportation process, helping to regulate trade flows. This makes it not only a legal requirement but also a crucial component for ensuring commercial security and efficiency.
At Angola’s bustling transit hubs, the CNCA Certificate expedites customs and logistics operations. This efficiency benefits not only Angola but also the other African countries that rely on these routes for their trade, making transportation more reliable and secure.
A Unifying Force for Regional Trade
Angola is a member of regional economic alliances such as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). These partnerships aim to facilitate trade among countries and eliminate trade barriers. However, achieving these goals requires standardized regulation of trade routes.
The CNCA Certificate contributes to establishing these standards by ensuring that transit trade is transparent, traceable, and organized. This strengthens Angola’s trade relationships with its neighbors while positioning it as a vital logistics hub for the entire continent.
Transparency and Security in Transit Trade
Transit trade inherently carries significant risks. The loss, misdirection, or illegal transport of goods can lead to commercial losses and legal complications. The CNCA Certificate mitigates these risks.
The certificate records every step of the cargo’s journey, detailing critical information such as the origin, destination, transport vehicles, and routes. This digital documentation process enhances the transparency of trade operations and ensures that goods safely reach their intended destinations.
Angola’s Logistics Potential
Angola’s strategic transit trade routes are supported by its growing logistics infrastructure. Key projects like the Lobito Corridor and the Port of Luanda highlight the country’s importance as a gateway to Africa’s interior and overseas markets.
The CNCA Certificate enhances the efficiency of this logistics infrastructure. By standardizing and monitoring trade processes, the certificate enables Angola’s ports to operate faster and more reliably. This creates advantages not only for transit countries but also for Angola’s domestic economy.
The CNCA Certificate in Angola’s and Africa’s Future
The regulation and security of Angola’s transit trade routes are essential for the continent’s economic development. The CNCA Certificate is not just a tool for achieving these goals but also a strategic asset shaping the future of trade.
By offering transparency, traceability, and security, the CNCA Certificate not only solidifies Angola’s role as a regional logistics hub but also contributes to the broader economic integration of Africa. For businesses engaged in trade, effectively managing this certificate is not just a legal necessity but also a cornerstone of commercial success.

ISO 27018 Certification:The Key to Enhancing Cloud Data Privacy
In the digital age, safeguarding sensitive personal data is a top priority for organizations worldwide. South Africa, with its growing digital economy and increasing reliance on cloud-based services, recognizes the significance of robust data protection standards. ISO 27018, a global standard for protecting personally identifiable information (PII) in cloud environments, has gained traction among businesses in South Africa. This article delves into ISO 27018 Certification in South Africa, implementation, services, and the role of consultants.
ISO 27018 Implementation in South Africa
ISO 27018 is an international standard developed to address data privacy concerns in cloud computing. Its implementation provides a framework to manage and protect PII within cloud environments. In South Africa, organizations that adopt ISO 27018 demonstrate their commitment to international best practices in data protection and compliance with local and global regulations, such as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
The implementation process begins with a thorough assessment of an organization’s existing data protection practices. This involves identifying potential risks to PII, evaluating the effectiveness of current controls, and pinpointing gaps that may compromise data security. Key steps in ISO 27018 implementation include:
Risk Assessment: Conducting a detailed analysis of vulnerabilities in data processing and storage.
Policy Development: Establishing policies and procedures tailored to cloud-based operations.

Cloud Security Solutions: Many IT service providers offer cloud security tools that align with ISO 27018 standards, enabling businesses to implement technical controls effectively.
Training and Workshops: Organizations can benefit from workshops that provide in-depth knowledge of ISO 27018 standards, compliance requirements, and practical implementation techniques.
Ongoing Support: Post-certification, service providers offer support to maintain compliance, including updates to policies and threat detection mechanisms.
By leveraging these services, South African organizations not only achieve ISO 27018 Services in Bahrain but also enhance their reputation for reliability and trustworthiness in the global market.
ISO 27018 Consultants in South Africa
The journey to ISO 27018 certification can be complex, requiring expertise in data protection laws, cloud security practices, and risk management. ISO 27018 consultants play a vital role in guiding organizations through this process, ensuring smooth implementation and compliance.
Key Roles of ISO 27018 Consultants:
Gap Analysis: Consultants assess the current state of an organization’s data protection measures against ISO 27018 standards to identify areas for improvement.
Custom Strategy Development: Every organization is unique, and consultants tailor strategies to address specific risks and operational needs while aligning with ISO 27018 requirements.
Policy and Procedure DraftingWith their expertise, consultants develop robust policies and procedures that meet the technical and legal requirements of the standard.
Training and Change Management: Consultants ensure that employees at all levels understand their responsibilities, fostering a culture of compliance.
Audit Preparation: They prepare organizations for certification audits by addressing potential non-conformities and ensuring readiness.
Benefits of Hiring ISO 27018 Consultants:
Expert Guidance: Consultants have in-depth knowledge of both ISO 27018 and local regulations like POPIA.
Efficiency: They streamline the implementation process, saving time and resources.
Risk Reduction: Consultants mitigate the risk of non-compliance, which can result in legal and reputational consequences.
Several consulting firms in South Africa specialize in ISO 27018, catering to organizations of all sizes and across industries. Their support ensures not only certification success but also long-term data security improvements.
Conclusion
ISO 27018 Registration in Uganda is a crucial step for organizations striving to secure personal data in the cloud. Implementing this standard demonstrates a strong commitment to protecting privacy, enhancing customer trust, and ensuring compliance with both local and international regulations. By utilizing ISO 27018 services and collaborating with experienced consultants, businesses can navigate the certification process efficiently and fortify their data protection frameworks.
As South Africa’s digital landscape continues to expand, ISO 27018 offers a pathway for organizations to lead in data privacy and cloud security. Whether you are an enterprise looking to certify your cloud operations or a startup aiming to establish robust data protection practices, embracing ISO 27018 is a forward-thinking investment in your organization's future.

From Nigeria to Djibouti: How Trade in Africa is Shaped by Certification Requirements
Africa is a rapidly growing region in global trade, increasingly important within the global supply chain. However, various African countries have implemented mandatory documentation requirements for foreign trade. From Nigeria to Djibouti ectn, many African countries have made cargo certificates essential to ensure safe and efficient trade. These documents, including the CTN (Cargo Tracking Note) and ECTN (Electronic Cargo Tracking Note), stand out as critical for secure transactions. Companies like BSC Africa support the logistics industry by facilitating these certification processes.
Importance of African Shipping Documents
African shipping documents are crucial to maintaining safe and organized trade for companies engaging in imports and exports across the continent. CTN, ECTN, and BSC certificates allow countries to trace shipments from origin to destination, curbing illegal trade and preventing revenue losses. These documents play a vital role in ensuring both security and regulatory compliance for each shipment.
In particular, Nigeria has mandated CTN and BSC certificates to enhance tax regulation, prevent smuggling, and support lawful trade practices. Djibouti, similarly, requires the ECTN certificate for all import transactions. As of 2023, this certificate is mandatory for every shipment to Djibouti ports, enabling transparent transfer of commercial data.
The Role of BSC Africa
Expert companies like BSC Africa play a crucial role in the certification process across Africa. BSC Africa provides logistics firms with guidance to streamline certification for exports and imports to the continent. This support allows companies to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize costs and time.
BSC Africa’s services include preparing accurate documentation and facilitating swift passage through customs and shipping processes, offering significant support at every stage of trade. With a vast network and expertise, BSC Africa ensures a secure, lawful process for companies entering African markets.
Scope of CTN, ECTN, and BSC Certificates
While African shipping documents vary by country, they generally include information on cargo type, quantity, value, and sender and receiver details. Each document must be acquired before shipment and verified by customs and port authorities, ensuring the shipment arrives on time.
CTN (Cargo Tracking Note): Mandatory in countries like Nigeria, this document enables tracking and aims to prevent illegal trade. The CTN also allows local authorities to access shipment details.
ECTN (Electronic Cargo Tracking Note): Digitally prepared, this document is mandatory in countries like Djibouti for regulated, transparent trade. ECTN contributes to the lawful conduct of imports across Djibouti and other African countries.
BSC (Bordereau de Suivi des Cargaisons): The BSC document enables tracking of cargo from the origin port to the final destination, required in several West African countries.
Impact of Shipping Documents on Trade in Africa
Shipping documents play a key role in facilitating and securing trade across Africa. Here are some effects on trade:
Increased Transparency: Certificates allow for end-to-end tracking of cargo, making trade processes more transparent.
Enhanced Security: Implemented to prevent illegal trade and smuggling, these documents support strict enforcement of customs and trade regulations.
Efficient Customs Procedures: Properly prepared documents speed up customs procedures, minimizing delays.
Economic Contribution: By controlling each stage of trade, these certificates help reduce tax losses and contribute to the local economies.
Conclusion
The rising importance of trade in Africa has made shipping documents indispensable across the continent. From Nigeria to Djibouti, the mandatory CTN, ECTN, and BSC certificates ensure secure, legal, and efficient trade. Companies like BSC Africa streamline these processes for exporters looking to enter the African market. These shipping documents contribute to Africa’s economic growth and foster the development of lawful trade throughout the continent.

USA. . Fifteen percent of earnings will be retained by the Fletcher-Manaker Project. Permission for use please of photos contact The President Brandeis University at- [email protected]
Signed
Basil Fletcher,
C.C. alumni of Czech and Slovak universities living in Latin America and Africa, to Fatima Espinoza of Bluefields, Nicaragua, Delicia Bailey of Guyana and Della Fletcher from St. Georges, Grenada W.I.

USA. . Fifteen percent of earnings will be retained by the Fletcher-Manaker Project. Permission for use please of photos contact The President Brandeis University at- [email protected]
