alyssa's aegon lives au?! oh my god i need to know everything about him and his little fambly please <33333333333
Of course!!! So in my fic Aegon survives but Alyssa still dies, which leaves Daemon and Aegon in the care of good queen Alysanne (same as Visenya when she is born a few years later) and they all grow up together, until Daemon marries Rhea in 97 AC and Visenya joins her father at court in 101 AC. Aegon was always sort of the most reasonable of the trio and while he absolutely loves and adores his brother and honorary little sister he really is a big introvert who had rather not get caught up in the intrigues of court and politics, so he stayed away even when he had wanted to marry Visenya and missed Daemon in the years they where apart. Aegon just sorta stayed on Dragonstone after his grandmothers passing in 100 AC and spend his free time traveling across the narrow sea on dragonback. He was only 3 and 10 when he and Daemon parted ways after the older wedding and by the time the brothers reunited Aegon had grown nearly a head and a half taller than the rogue prince and had come to be a man of hulking build in the way Targaryen men rarely were. Aegon had cut his hair short and worn unadorned clothes for the longest time as a young man, as he hoped it had made him look less Targaryen as he always felt he lacked the connection Daemon, Visenya and even Viserys had with their heritage, but by the time he returned from a longer stay in Braavos in 114 AC it had grown long enough to be worn in a pony tail again and Aegon refrained from cutting it again as his new found lover the son of the Sealord of Braavos, Galeo Materys, was quite found of it. In 114 AC Aegon came back to Westeros for the wedding of his younger niece, Rhaenyra, and ended up agreeing to his brother the kings offer to become a member of the small council, a position he would soon resign from after the death of his lover in Braavos at the hands of his own brother Daemon in the following year, an incident that would leave a deep slight on the brothers relationship for the years to come. Aegon left kings landing as well as Dragonstone and would never return. Visenyas sworn shield Ser Lyle Bracken had offered Aegon to make himself at home in his ancestral home, with the tall knights sister lady Barissa Bracken for company and though Aegon did not stay within the hospitality of the odd woman that was the lady of stone hedge for long his time in the Riverlands served to heal his broken heart as he found a friend and companion to many a feast or tourney in lady Myriame Blackwood, who was a maiden of 26 years, with raven black hair, a never wavering smile and eyes that seemed to dance with laughter at all times of the day. It was no surprise when the two announced their betrothal and married under the heart tree of raven tree hall where they would raise their daughters Alyssa and Rhae. If rumor is to be believed Alyssa would be taught in the dark arts of the north by her mothers grandmother old lady Ronna, while Rhae, drawn in by the secrets of her valyrian heritage would seek to master magic of fire and blood.
I love Aegon and have so many thought on him just no way to really put them all into words adequately yet, so if you have anymore questions let me know!! Hope you enjoyed <3

What do you think about Jeyne Arryn's heir? Do you think choosing Joffery Arryn was a mistake, or it's better than Arnold anyway? And If Jeyne was Aemma's niece, why Jeyne didn't choose Rhaenyra, or her children, or her dead brothers as Arryn's heir?
Jeyne chose Joffrey, a cousin who was loyal to her, and who (unlike Arnold) never tried to contest her rule (twice!) just because she was a "soft" woman. I think that's a pretty good choice when you're looking for leadership of all the Vale and its lords and ladies, men and women.
And of course Jeyne, while loyal to Rhaenyra, prioritized an Arryn-named family member, born and raised in the Vale, her Knight of the Bloody Gate and thus experienced with the Vale and Eyrie's people, politics, and defenses, over a distant Targaryen cousin who never set foot in the Vale with no feelings for the Arryns beyond a quarter of Rhaenyra's sigil. Would you ever expect any less from any other ruler?
Also, Rhaenyra's dead brothers? The ones who died 30 years before Jeyne did? Who died when Jeyne was under 10 years old and "ruling" under a regent? Rhaenyra's dead brothers who would have been heir to the Iron Throne if they had lived for more than a few days (which they didn't)? The brothers who were dead? What? *confused-obama.gif*
No, seriously, I am incredibly confused by your understanding of the timeline here. By the time Jeyne died from the Winter Fever in 134 AC, the only descendant of Aemma Arryn known to be alive was Aegon III Targaryen. Who was, you know, the king of Westeros. How was Jeyne supposed to name any of Aemma's other descendants as her heir in her will, reconstruct Rhaenyra* and Baelon** and unnamed** and Joffrey** from their ashes? Pull Jacaerys** and Lucerys*** and Viserys**** out of their watery graves? Seriously, what?
*Rhaenyra was, y'know, the queen, and before that heir to the throne, she wasn't going to be the Arryn heir. **Heir to the throne before he died, so not going to be the Arryn heir. ***Heir to Driftmark before he died, so not going to be the Arryn heir. ****Not actually dead! Even though everyone thought he was when Jeyne was writing her will. But if he hadn't been, he would have been heir to the throne, so still not going to be the Arryn heir.

Modernau where the Targaryens are a mafia but make it a crime comedy:
Baelon lived became head of the Mafia when Jaehaerys croaked, made both Rhaenys and Viserys his co-heirs. Aemon, Alyssa, Aemma, any Targaryen or family member who died in unclear ways, were all killed by the Hightowers who want to supplant the Targaryens as the Boses of the Mafia. Baelon married Daemon to both Laena and Rhaenyra as both girls are his heirs oldest children, and he wants to keep the power in the family(something he believes his father should have done instead of attempting to marry his youngest children off to other families leading to either their deaths ofmr estrangement, when he became boss he called Saera back), betweenthe three of them they have 9 children(Jace, Luke, Baela, Rhaena, Joffrey, Baelon II, Aegon III, Viserys II, and Visenya). After Aemma's death, Viserys still marries Alicent(despite everyone being against it) and still has four children with her.
Since Viserys went against his orders, Baelon removed him and his children from Alicent from the mafia succecion and gave the position of heir to Rhaenyra. When Baelon eventually retires, it's Rhaenys, Laena, and Rhaenyra who are in charge and decide to continue Baelons's plans for the Hightowers.
They begin by destroying all business deals the Hightowers have, bringing their fortune down as they try their best to keep everything afloat. When realizing that with their businesses are being destroyed, they try to find a way to put one of Alicent's children at the helm of the Mafia by marrying either Baela or Jace. Unfortunately(for the Hightowers, that is), Rhaenyra and Laena had anticipated this, so they betrothed Jace and Baela.
But it wouldn't be me if I didn't add a splash of JaceLuke and Baena, so while Jace and Baela are engaged, they both are having a relationship behind everyone's back with their beloved brother/sister(except Laena, Daemon, Laenor, Baelon, and the R's know;they have walked in on them so many times). They make it game to be as affectinate/inappropriate in front of the Hightowers as they can be, Daemon is so proud.
Ps: if anyone wants to write this let me know

It Was Always Farewell
Lady Arienne Dayne had wed her cousin Prince Vorian Martell at a tender age, deemed as the most lovely Lady in all of Dorne and the most fitting for the role of Princess. But while the Dornish Prince had sought her out for her kindness and her beauty, his interest in her would fade soon enough as moons past by without her being able to give him what his advisors instilled he need most, an heir to his throne. And as he grew distant, Arienne became the target of old buried rumours that had plagued her since her youth. That she was not a true Dayne, not like her sisters. She had shimmering dark auburn red hair and deep wine violet eyes, many whispered that Arienne Dayne was a bastard. A secret Targaryen dragonseed born from her mother's rumoured affair with Prince Aemon Targaryen.
It was a rumour that she would come to learn was true.
It was in her blood to call to dragons, inescapable were the flames of Valyria and the call to the magnificent House Targaryen. When her eyes finally set on the bright golden lavender gaze of the visiting Westerosi Royal family. The third and youngest son of Prince Baelon...Prince Aegon Targaryen. Gods among men they truly were, what chance could she ever have had against a fate such as this.

____________________________________________
You loved your son. You named your son Baelon, after your mothers lost brother. Aemond knew how much you love Baelon, and he would be a fool if he said he did not love his son as well.
Aemond tried to pride himself with being stoic and emotionally unavailable. But the minute they put his squirming son's body in his arms he felt his whole world resolve. The boy was the most beautiful thing to him, and he couldn’t believe that half of this being came from him.
Ever since that night, Aemond became softer. When you weren’t breastfeeding, or when you got tired from taking care of the crying infant, Aemond would immediately offer to take the boy. When Bealon would cry in the middle of the night, Aemond would be up almost immediately, rushing to be at the babe's side. It took you almost forty minutes to convince him that it would be better if he slept with you and not in the nursery.
And everything was fine until the night he killed Luke.
Aemond would come back to the Keep late at night, still shaken from what he had involuntarily done. When he got back to his chambers, he saw his wife, his sweet, innocent wife holding his son.
You had a smile on your face, Baelon coo’ing in your arms as he giggled and reached up to play with your braided, black hair. When you looked up, and noticed Aemond, your smile faltered.
Aemond stared at you, and for a second his face was his normal and stoic, but the minute his son, his little Baelon, reached for him with a smile he broke down.
That night he told you everything; He apologized profusely, and for the first time in all of Baelon’s four months of living, he refused to hold him.
“I’ll only hurt him.” Is what Aemond told you. Your heart broke a little when you heard this, and you tried to reassure him but he wouldn’t have any of it.
____________________________________________
“Aemond?” Aemond stopped, looking at you with a soft sigh.
“Darling, what have I told you about sleeping on the couch?” His voice was tired, full of weariness from having to deal with Aegon’s antics. You smiled softly as you sat up, holding out your hands out for him. He sighed as he sat down with you. He immediately cuddled against you, letting out a long, heavy breath as his head come into contact with your chest.
This was how you two spent most of your time now. At night, Aemond would come to you and he would cuddle against you, yearning for that love and affection only you could seemingly give him. You two sat like this for a while, you stroking his head, and him stroking your stomach.
“...I do regret that business with Luke, you know.”
“I know.”
There was more silence. It seemed that between you and Baelon, the only time Aemond’s mind was quiet now was when he was with you, in your embrace, being held by you. Not being treated as a monster, or a ruthless warrior, but rather just a man. Just your husband.
In the distance, you heard the sound of your son’s wails. You sighed heavily, and you looked down at Aemond.
“Perhaps he wishes for his father’s arms.” You spoke softly, watching as Aemond slowly sat up.
“He does not.” He shook his head, leaning against the back of the couch. He avoided your gaze, knowing the somber look you were giving him.
“Are you sure you do not wish to join me?” Aemond sat still, a look on his face that held some sort of thought before he shook his head softly.
“I’ll see him first thing in the morning, my love.” You smiled at the thought, and you held his hand as you walked away. He watched you leave, a sad smile on his face. The wails from Baelon stopped moments later, and Aemond sighed heavily.
Tomorrow, he thought, i’ll see him tomorrow.
The worst part about this sentiment is that Aemond would see his son tomorrow. However, Baelon would be on a pyre.
____________________________________________
The night started off peaceful. You sat in your rocking chair, rocking back and forth with Baelon in your arms. You smiled to yourself, holding the-now-sleeping babe in your arms. You hadn’t even registered the two men behind you.
When one of them accidently knocked something over, you immediately jumped.
“Aemond?” You whispered, quickly turning around. However, you were met with the face of two, unruly men you didn’t recognize. You saw the bag they held, along with the rat traps. “Who-Who are you?” You tried to stay strong, but you knew your voice gave away your fear.
One of the men, the taller, bigger one looked you up and down. He turned to the other man and spoke softly. “Who is she?”
“This…Is the one eyed prince’s wife.” Your breath hitched as the shorter man spoke. They both looked reasonably dirty, like rat catchers, but you knew something was wrong.
“There are no rats in here.” The two men started to walk towards you, murmuring something about your husband underneath their breath. You had half a mind to turn and run, but they seemed to have the same idea.
The shorter man came to you, and put a knife to your throat. You gasped, and clutched Baelon closer to you. The boy whined softly at the pressure.
“Give us the boy, and we won’t hurt you.” The taller man spoke. You looked at him and held Baelon tighter.
“You have no business with my son-”
“Give us the boy!” The taller men yelled. You flinched, and at the sudden noise, Baelon started to cry. You looked between the men, and you felt tears in your eyes as the anxiety started to build up in your chest.
“I-I have uhm..I have many valuable items. I have gold! I have lots of gold that I have no need for-”
The taller man kicked the edge of Baelon’s crib and you held back a scream. The taller men started to speak to the shorter man, but the words they spoke didn’t process fully in your brain. All you saw was an open door.
“AEM-” You started to scream your husband's name, but the man with the knife to your throat pushed the knife further and grabbed your hair roughly. You cried, and Baelon wailed in your arms. The taller man put his hand on Baelon’s head and tried to pry him from you grip.
“NO!” You cried out, trying to pull him back, but it didn’t work. With a quick snap your boy was pried from you. The shorter man threw you back, causing you to hit your head against the chair you were previously rocking in.
Your head was fuzzy, and all you heard was the wails of your son, painful wails that slowly died down. When you sat up, you saw the men putting the tiny head of your son in a bag. Your whole world stopped, and just as the men escaped down the hall, you screamed.
Your chest ached, and your throat burned. You stare down at the body, slowly crawling to it as you shake your head and mutter small, inconsistent prayers to yourself. You reached out a hand, placing it on the body’s belly, rubbing it softly as if that would relieve some of the pain that was given to your innocent baby boy.
You choked on your own tears, wishing for nothing more than your own death in that moment. Screams erupted from your throat; Horrid, painful screams followed by sobs. This pain, this all consuming immeasurable pain you wished on no one. The feeling of your own blood on your hands as you stared at the decapitated body was sickening, but you couldn’t look away.
How could something so small hold so much blood? You thought to yourself, watching as the blood spilled from the clumsy cut.
Alicent was the first to arrive, followed by Aemond soon after. Alicent stared at the scene in front of her, and while she resented you (seeing you as a constant reminder of Rhaenyra’s blatant lie to her), the pain she felt for you was disgusting. She backed out of the room slowly and placed a hand on her stomach to ground herself.
Aemond couldn’t step into the room. He just stared down at you, his son's body. The thought that this headless, infants body was his own son’s, his baby boy’s-
He couldn’t move. The pain for him was nothing short of paralyzing. But what broke him the most was you.
You sobbed, violently sobbed as you placed your hands in your son's blood and tried to pull it back. As if that would fix everything. Aemond felt nauseous, seeing you so desperately cling to the idea that you could fix this. Once the realization started to settle that this was not helping, your body seemed to shut down. You laid down, holding your hands on your son's body as you sobbed.
No words were exchanged, not knowing what to say. Aemond leaned against the door frame, mind numb as he slowly slid down the frame. He stared at nothing, his mind replaying all the times he held the boy, watched him smile.
____________________________________________
Aemond stood next to you the following day, watching as your baby boy's body was burned on a pillar. He was numb, his face pale and full of so much grief that it sobered anyone up. You were a mess. Tears and incoherent sobs escaped your throat, and you clung to Aemond. Aemond stayed still, gently holding you as if any small movement would cause the last shred of resolve to leave your body.
As the fire burned, you buried your face into Aemond’s chest, refusing to watch. Aemond let you, holding your head softly.
But Aemond stared. He watched as the wrapped body was consumed by the flames. He forced himself to watch as the flames consumed his son, his own retribution for not being there, for not helping you, for not holding his son one last time.
As he watched the ashes of the pyre falter, Aemond made a promise to himself.
He would kill Daemon Targaryen with his own hands.

Hello. Yandere husband Jaehaerys i Targaryen and wife reader (she not Alysanne) and yandere platonic children.(Jaeh and reader's children. Daenaerys/ Aemon/ Baelon/ Alyssa/ Maegelle/ Vaegon/ Daella/Saera/Viserra/ Gael)
cw's: yandere content, unhealthy relationships, romantic and platonic relationships, abuse and death, maegor's wives are mentioned, arranged marriage, mention of alysanne, non-incestuous marriage hooray, infant death, mentally unstable reader, jaehaerys lowk having a breeding kink lol
Jaehaerys is a gentle husband, and for good reason. He grew up watching his uncle mistreat several women, even kill them, for no good reason. Watching the Black Brides be killed and abused for no reason at all, Jaehaerys wants to be a good husband to his future wife, nor matter the situation.
So, when Jaehaerys is initially married to his wife, he tries his best to be accommodating towards her. Jaehaerys becomes king at a very young age, and therefore, he gets married at a young age. He had initially wanted to marry his sister, Alysanne, but his wife was chosen for him by his mother, Alyssa Velaryon. Despite his initial disappointment, Jaehaerys becomes very fond of his lady wife. He grows more than fond as their marriage progresses, and by the end of the first year together, he's completely hooked.
The courting process happens after they're married. Jaehaerys realizes that arranged marriages are harder for women than men, so he tries to be very kind and accommodating. At first, his lady wife takes advantage of this and keeps her distance from Jaehaerys, most likely knowing of his past affection for his sister. Alysanne was married to Alaric Stark and thus lived in the Riverlands. Still, the thought of her husband harboring affection for another woman is likely discouraging for his new wife.
This bothers Jaehaerys quite a bit because he's become infatuated with his wife. He wants her to adore him just as much as he adores her. Things change once their first child, Aegon, is born. Jaehaerys' new wife changes with motherhood. She loves her son and covets him like a star, so when Aegon dies as an infant, she's absolutely destroyed. The only person who truly understands her pain is Jaehaerys, so she seeks comfort in her husband for the first time since she was forced to marry him.
When they go on to lose their second child, Daenerys, Jaehaerys becomes very protective over his wife. Mentally, she isn't doing well, so he keeps her distanced away from anyone who mentions the death of Daenerys. Their other children are very close with their mother, Baelon, and Aemon take after Jaehaerys in being protective over their mother, as does Alyssa and Saera. Alyssa, Gael, and Maegelle are very close with her, and Jaehaerys becomes relaxed, knowing that they have plenty of children to keep his wife content.
Viserra, ever the diva, likes to bring her mother out into the city to shop. I imagine her as a mama's girl, and she's absolutely spoiled by her mother. The silk and velvet dresses, diamond encrusted tiaras, and fluffy pillows are all things Viserra has commissioned for her momma. They even have matching dresses!
Gael and Maegelle would cling to their mother, as would Daella. Daella is terrified of dragons, and I imagine so would Jaehaerys' wife, so they're content to read in the garden together. Maegelle and Gael are similar, always following their mother around the Keep like little ducklings.
Vaegon, much like his older brothers, is protective over his mother. I feel like the boys have that Targaryen supremacy ideology, so they believe that since their mother isn't a Targaryen, she's weak. They all believe she needs to be protected, much like how Jaehaerys feels.
All in all, their children love their mama, and Jaehaerys has a horrid breeding mentality. The loss of their children, especially those who died in infancy, left his wife depressed and desolate. Jaehaerys believed that producing more children would fix her sadness.
haha, I hope this was good enough 😅 I love thinking about how it would have been if jaehaerys and alysanne hadn't married each other, but it's so sad that she lost so many children :(

self-destruction — aemond targaryen x sister!reader
a/n: my idea was to make this angstober all about pedro pascal characters, but I’m not good at keeping my word and this prompt made me think of (book) aemond very intensely. so, here it is, a little late, but here it is!!! day 03 — self-destruction, from @angstober. there are some pop culture inspired references here and there, but nothing that takes aways from the medieval vibes, pinky promise! let me know what you think, and feel free to dm me :)
this is an angsty smutty piece, so beware and mdni.
word count: 3.5k
warnings: angst. mentions of death. mentions of war. (targaryen) incest (brother/sister). smut. oral (m!receiving). p in v. slight (if you squint) breeding kink.
You realized from a very young age you were bound to marry one of your brothers or nephews.’Targaryens have queer customs’, your mother would say, but it didn’t seem like she’d mind it at all. Even though she would take you to the sept constantly and there the people would say it was a terrible sin to lay with one’s blood, she had betrothed your eldest brother to Helaena.
Your father would tell tales about his grandparents, the King Jahaerys and the Good Queen Alyssane. How they knew Targaryens were closer to gods than they were to man, which was why only your bloodline remained as dragonlords. The doctrine of exceptionalism. It all seemed a little unhumble to you, and you knew gods, whether Valyrian gods, old gods or the Seven, had a way to punish mortals who flew too close to the Sun.
Despite it being strange to you, you loved the stories. You loved the songs about old tales, the epicness of it all. Queen Rhaenys and your great-grandmother Alyssane were your favorites. Oh, how lovely would it be to see Meraxes flying in the skies next to Balerion and Vhagar. Balerion was your father’s dragon, and Vhagar was claimed by your brother. It seemed cruel that fate had taken Meraxes before you could ever ride her.
The King Viserys would kid he had a Visenya and a Rhaenys in his offspring. Your eldest sister, the heir to the throne, had Visenya’s warrior ways, and her husband was the wielder of the very own Dark Sister. You, on the other hand, were much alike the Conqueror’s other wife, all would say. In the same fashion as the late Queen, you loved dancing, poetry and, above all, you loved flying.
You bonded with the dragon Silverwing as a young woman, later than your siblings had. The feeling of the she-dragon's scales beneath your hands as you mounted her for the very first time was worth all the years of wait. You knew that if you couldn’t pursue Meraxes, the dragon that was meant for you, reserved to you by fate, was the one of Queen Alyssane’s.
The brother closest to you in age, Prince Daeron, had his own dragon, but he was much too small to fly on when you claimed Silverwing, and he was already halfway across Westeros with your mother’s family. That was why you took the skies with Vhagar and her rider.
Another story you commonly loved was your grandparents, Princess Alyssa and Baelon, the Brave. It seemed Alyssane knew they were bound to each other, so she refused to marry Alyssa, the oldest living daughter of age, to Aemon, the eldest son. Instead, as your father told, she married Alyssa to Baelon, who were the love of each other's lives.
Hearing about your grandparents was the first time you thought that, perhaps, marrying one of your brothers wouldn’t be awful, or even Jacaerys Velaryon.
The wedding ceremony for Aegon and Helaena happened when you were a young woman, just entering the age to be betrothed. You knew the expectations were high, above all because of the disputes regarding Rhaenyra’s claim and her children’s legitimacy.
Honestly, you thought, all of this would have ended if Aegon was married to Rhaenyra, despite the age difference, or Jacaerys to Helaena. However, there was too much pride and ego involved.
When it came to your pride and ego, you knew that as a Targaryen princess, your wishes mattered to everyone, except for your family. Your father would marry you to whom he saw fit, and your mother would make sure it was a match able to strengthen Aegon’s silent claim. You had a preference, though. With the story of your grandparents in mind, you had your own Baelon.
From the first moment you took the skies together, you knew you were meant to take on life together. He was no Aegon the Conqueror, it was true, but he was your match in more ways than one.
You were set to be married on the fortnight following your sixteenth name day, but the death of your father changed everything. The horrible deaths of your nephews, the terrible aftermaths of battle, the sheer horror of your family destroying itself from the insides. There was no more poetry, no more songs, no more flying.
On the fall of a night, you were on the balcony, overlooking Blackwater Bay. You thought that, maybe, if you tried, you could see all the way up to Dragonstone. Maybe, if your sister, almost two decades your senior, looked from her chambers, she could try to see you too. Perhaps, you could make peace, if not for all, for the two of you.
He walked in quietly behind you, in the same wild but quiet fashion as always. His presence made himself known to you before any sound, and you let him get close enough before acknowledging him.
“I often imagine what life looked like for our family. Rhaenys and Aegon, for instance. Sometimes, I like to wonder”, you started, voice barely above a whisper, “when our ancestors stood on the balconies of the Red Keep, as we now stand”, you finally turned around, meeting his eyes — one purple, one sapphire, “did they see this line where the sky meets the sea in the same way as we see?”
He was quiet, his one eye passing through your face, down your neck, to your almost sheer purple nightgown, all the way down to your bare feet. You wish you could tell what was happening in his brain. Your brother looked up to your uncle, the Rogue Prince, but you wished he could see the virtues in your father: the curiosity, the longing for beauty, for art. He had it in him, but it wasn’t cultivated. It broke your heart, and it revolted you.
“Aren’t you cold?”, he asked, and you scoffed.
“Nyke hae olvie hen nykeā zaldrīzes hae ao, jorrāelagon lēkia (I am as much of a dragon as you, dear brother)”, you straightened your back, and turned again to gaze at the bay and the city.
“Nyke emagon daor doubt, issa mandia (I have no doubt, my sister)”, you could hear the smile in his voice as he replied. You rolled your eyes, not letting the memories flood through you.
He had been your first for everything — your first fight, your first flight, your first kiss, and everything else.
The tantrum your mother would have thrown had she found out about this years ago… But now, after the babe Jahaerys’ death and Helaena’s exhaustion, you doubt she would care if you appeared with child, as long as the wedding was set to a proper date.
His right hand raised and rested on your hip, and you felt his body approach yours as he took a step closer. You could feel his breath on your ear, and you slowly closed your eyes.
The thing with fire is that, when not properly controlled by a force equal or bigger than itself, it becomes all consuming. You and Aemond were much like fire — multiplying, growing, and, even if by accident, destroying your surroundings. You had never expected this fire to harm you, but now, you realized just how much fire was a force of nature not to be tamed by any man or woman, regardless of their lineage. You, a Targaryen, would die if a fire brought down your surroundings, just as any commoner.
Aemond’s hand started caressing your hips, and in the silence of the night, high on the Red Keep, away from any prying eyes, you let your head fall to his shoulder. He wasted no time in starting kissing your neck, as his free flew up to your breast. It was natural how your hands reached back to his shoulder length hair, and you let out a soft moan. His kisses found their way near your hear, and he whispered.
“Hemtubis, nyke jāhor sagon leaving syt Rook's Rest isse naejot rhaenagon rūsīr Ser Criston. Nyke syt nykeā jikagon-pryjagon. (Tomorrow, I will be leaving for Rook's Rest in secrecy to meet with Ser Criston... I hoped for a proper send-off)”.
You stopped.
Much like dragons, there was an inexplicable beauty in fire, but it is also fearsome. You hoped Aemond had learned that by now, after the pointless war in your family, but you realized he hadn’t.
You turned in his arms, as he held your hips. He looked amused, tranquil. You, on the other hand, had a frown you knew resembled your mother’s.
“Aemond”.
“Sister”.
You laughed lightly. “Surely you do not think of me as a common whore you can call upon when you desire”.
“Of course not, jorrāelagon (dear)”, his hand raised to move a strain of hair from your face, but you moved, stubbornly, to avoid the caress. His head tilted to the side, an amused look on his face. “Are you not to be my wife?”
“I am not yours for anything”, the response was quick, instinctive. By now, he should know you were not a lady for his bedding, but his alike, his sister, a Targaryen princess. Maybe not a warrior as he and your brother, the King, would have liked, but a dragonrider nonetheless.
He seemed all the more entertained by your reply. His hand once more tried to touch your hair, but you slapped it away. Aemond had always been quick to anger and slow to forgiveness, and you knew it. You knew he would take it as a challenge when you fought him, which was why his aggressiveness did not surprise or scare you. He used one hand to pin your wrists together, and the other to grasp at your gown at the height of your waist. You tried to kick him, without any use of your actual strength, and he simply used the size and force of his body to push you against the balcony.
Heights never scared you, you were a dragonrider and a fearless princess from the blood of Old Valyria. Aemond, however, scared you in this moment, because you knew that no matter how much he loved you, his temper would always be his one true reliable characteristic. For a second you imagined he would let his hand go, and let you fall all the way to the patios beneath.
His one eye darkened, and his breath was quick. Against your chest, you felt his rise and fall almost rhythmically. He could drop you or throw you, but you would still choose him, you realized. And what a terrible tragedy that was.
Your realization must have softened your features, for Aemond’s own face calmed. He could destroy you, ruin you, and you’d let him. Your soul was intertwined with his, for better or worse, whether you willed it or no. Walking in this horrible pattern willingly, constantly putting yourself in the way of his temper, denying yourself… Was it self-destructive behavior, as the men with skinny arms in Old Town would say? Perhaps. What a small price to pay this terror was, a price you were willing to pay to be alongside your twin flame.
The small of your back was still pressed on the balcony when Aemond kissed you, wet and fast. He let go of your pulses, and your hands immediately held to his shoulders for dear life. Was it fear he’d drop you? Was it desire?
Both.
Aemond passed one hand beneath your legs, and the other supporting your back. He picked you up like it was nothing. One of your hands caressed his neck, and the other laid quietly on his chest.
That fire from a few minutes before had grown, like fire always does. It became a fuel for the desire you had for each other. Walking inside, into your chambers, Aemond threw you on your bed as gently as he knew how. His expression was hungry, and he would have devoured you if he could.
You moved and sat on the bed as he stood in front of you, eye level with his crotch. You wanted to devour him, too, and there was no better time than the present. With one hand you began to unlace his pants, and with the other you pushed his dress shirt up. You hadn’t realized he was wearing his combat clothes. He was probably training all day.
He took the hint and took his shirt off, his gaze never leaving you. When his pants dropped to the ground with a quiet sound, he made no move to remove it, or his boots. You couldn’t care less, as his manhood presented itself already fully upward and hard, leaking from the top. His tip was probably one of your favorite parts, because it was always so sensitive, which was exactly why you didn’t start there.
One hand on his bum and the other making up and down movements on his shaft, you looked into his eye with your best sweet and helpless look. It was one of the things Aemond loved the most about you: that you were his younger, fragile little sister, bound to him, given to him by the Gods to fulfill the Valyrian tradition and his destiny. His member twitched, and he threw his head back when you finally licked a stripe from the base all the way to the tip.
There you were, bobbing your head up and down, using your tongue to move when you reached the tip of your brother’s beautiful cock. You felt yourself wet, in need of release too, so you took your hand from Aemond’s body to your own, using it to feel your breasts beneath the nightgown.
This did not go unnoticed by Aemond. Nothing went unnoticed by Aemond.
“How could I be so selfish, hāedar (sister)?”, he removed himself from your mouth, taking a step back from the back and making you whimper from the loss of contact.
His face, lit by the moonlight, was the most beautiful of all sights. You were sure you had seen other men, even other Princes, who were charming, but there was no one who could be this alluring.
How could someone so beautiful be so destructive?
You began to let your body fall back in the bed as Aemond straddled you. By the look on his face, you knew this would be fast and rough. It didn’t scare you. Should it? Should the consequences of it scare you?
A little princeling with violet eyes and white hair, running through the Keep. The memory of Jaehaerys was painful, but what troubled you most was if this little boy of yours would be a Targaryen or a Waters.
Still, you let Aemond climb to the top of you, pulling your gown up to your waist, revealing a part of your body that he, and he alone, was familiar with. He pushed the nightgown all the way up, taking it off and leaving you bare, as naked as the day you were born beneath him.
Very rarely would he take you in this position. Sometimes, he would have you on your hands and knees, face away from him. Most times, he liked to have you ride him, going as far as making jokes that you were mounting the fiercest of Targaryen dragons, and he would hide his face in your breasts. But tonight, his eyes were looking into yours the whole time.
He entered you quickly, with one deep thrust. Your cunt was ready for him, and he knew it would be; having him in your mouth had this effect on you, always left you throbbing and ready.
As his body would enter yours with force and then leave, making you see stars with the movement of his hips, you raised your legs and intertwined them around his waist. He grabbed both your hands again, this time holding them close to your breasts, which allowed his body to rise in a delicious angle.
You both had done this enough times to know to be quiet. It was hard keeping the moans in, and you let out little sighs and made a painful expression as he became sloppier.
Your hips had a life of its own, moving with Aemond’s, trying to get him as deep as possible while also obtained friction. Your brother realized this very quickly, and he let go of your hands to prop himself on his knees and put both your legs on his shoulder. One hand of his went straight to that place where your bodies met, and he began to pressure and circle the one spot he knew would make you feel as good as you were making him feel.
Warm, wet, welcoming, That was all Aemond wanted.
Your moans became louder, and you took one hand to your mouth and the other to his chest. You let your nails make a red line down to his stomach, and it wouldn’t be a problem, considering all the training he endured these past days. You were close to screaming when you were about to finish, and Aemond could tell. Your walls began clenching around him, and your juices were rolling down to your bum, making a mess of the linen sheets.
He let his body fall close to yours and kissed you passionately as you came, muffing out the sounds and making you feel oh, so loved.
Too bad it only lasted a second.
“Nyke jāhor mazverdagon ao issa ābrazȳrys, nyke jāhor tepagon ao issa riñar, mandia. ȳdra daor worry. Ao jāhor sagon dāria, se olvie Targārien hen ry queens pār Rhaenys. (I will make you my wife, I will give you my children, sister. Don't worry. You will be Queen, the most Targaryen of all Queens since Rhaenys).”, he murmured in your ear. This thought of his, this pursue of greatness and the Targaryen tradition… This would be his downfall.
He kept thrusting, completely ignoring you, chasing his release. You laid there, unmoving, thinking about what he had just said. You could never be the Queen Rhaenys, because you could never be Queen. Aegon was married to Helaena, Daemon was married to Rhaenyra, Rhaenyra had five sons, and none of your kin would let go of their claims.
You felt the warmness of Aemond’s release inside you, and he bit down hard on your neck as he came.
He could use your body for his own pleasure, it didn’t bother you. He pleased you as he did it, so there was nothing the matter for you. But he couldn’t use your kinship to justify whatever horrors he planned or wished to commit.
His body left yours, falling with a thud on the bed. He was sweaty, but he smelled like home. What a bizarre thought of yours, that someone’s sweat was comfortable. You turned onto your side to face him, laying on his back with his eyes closed. Would he dare to spend the night? Could he stay for another minute, even, considering this plan on Rook’s Rest?
“Lēkia (Brother)”, you called him, who opened his eyes slowly and murmured “hm?”. “This war we are fighting with our sister… I have a feeling this will be irreparable for our House. It’s self-destruction, it’s terror. It’s unnecessary”.
He was quiet, and coolness was always more concerning on Aemond than explosions of rage.
“Ao issi se jorrāelagon hen issa glaeson, mandia. Nyke jāhor daor emagon aōha bartos dīnagon se egros kesrio syt hen īlva kepa's refusal naejot brōzi se drēje prince. (You are the love of my life, sister. I will not have your head put the sword because of our father's refusal to name the correct heir)”, he simply said. He was peaceful, which was all the more concerning.
“You are destroying yourself, Aemond”, you shaked your head, turning your back to him as he sat on the bed, clearly preparing to leave you once more. “Ao jāhor daor botagon bisa vīlībāzma. (You will not survive this war)”, your heart broke as you spoke what you knew to be the truth.
Helaena could be a prophetess, Aegon could be King, Daeron could be as daring as he wished. You and Aemond had your fates intertwined, and he seemed ready to let it all burn, destroying himself, you and whatever lifes you hoped to have.
“Mirre hen īlva jāhor (None of us will)”, Aemond, now fully dressed, replied.
You raised your gaze to meet his. In this darkness, he was still beautiful. There was a part of you, however, that wondered if this was already a memory. Aemond was leaving now, with only hope and faith guarding his return.
Looking back on that night, many moons later, you knew what he meant with that last comment, right before he left. He thought the people would not survive, but the Targaryen name would. What Aemond didn’t realize is that the destruction was generalized, and it took from all of you, innocent or no, destined for greatness or no, all the same.
Surely, none of you would survive the battles.

Ten years ago
“You look beautiful,” your father Joffrey said with glassy eyes and hugging you by the shoulders, both of you looking at your reflection in the mirror. It wasn’t the first time he saw you in your wedding dress. In fact, he went with you to buy it along with your other father, your grandmother, your cousins and your godmother. But he always got emotional every time he saw you in your white dress.
You'd like to say you felt beautiful but you couldn't stop staring at your stomach. A month ago when you got the dress it wasn't so tight to your skin. Your pregnancy wasn't obvious. Now you couldn't help but think that everyone would think this was a shotgun wedding, that you were only getting married for the baby when it wasn't just about that. Aemond had asked you to marry him because he loves you not because you were pregnant.
“You can still turn back.”
Your father's words made your heart sink. You knew that even though he and your grandmother Rhaenys had been by your side throughout the wedding preparations, they didn't agree with you getting married, you assumed it was because they thought you were too young but the strange thing was that neither of them seemed upset about the baby. You feared that the reason for their annoyance was that you were marrying Aemond but it didn't make sense, he's been your boyfriend for years and they never seemed to hate him.
Joffrey felt your body tense. He knew that if Laenor knew about this conversation he would be furious with him and they would end up having a huge argument. He knew he shouldn’t distress you on this day but he needed to let you know that you didn’t have to go through with this wedding just because of a social mandate or because you thought it was the right thing to do, that you didn’t have to settle for Aemond just because he’s the father of your baby. He couldn’t live with himself if he let you make such an important decision without having this conversation first. He would be failing you as a father.
“I just want to say that we are not in medieval times, you can have his son but there is no need to marry him” he reminded you, turning you around so that you were facing each other.
“I know, Dad,” you murmured, clenching your hands into fists, and digging your nails into your palms. You prefer that to end up wrinkling your dress. “I love Aemond and he loves me. Don’t worry, he’ll take care of me.”
“Of course, just like he took care of you this month,” he said with obvious sarcasm.
He still didn't understand how you had forgiven Aemond for not accompanying you to your first ultrasound, nor how you could continue with the wedding after seeing that the groom would not help you plan it. He and Laenor were the ones who stood by your side and held your hands while you looked at your baby for the first time. They, along with your grandparents, your cousins, and your friends, were the ones who helped you plan the wedding. They had to intervene when they saw how you seemed on the verge of having a nervous breakdown. You shouldn't be stressed in your state, Aemond should never have entrusted you with the task of organizing a wedding at the last minute while he continued with his project of opening his own publishing house. So Joffrey had reason to doubt that he would be able to take care of you and treat you as you deserve.
“Dad, please stop.” The annoyance was evident in your voice.
“I just don't want you to make a mistake.” In a few years, you will remember this conversation and the frustration on your dad's face as a warning sign that he was right. “I think there’s someone better than Aemond for you.”
“Who?!” you asked, losing your patience. This was supposed to be your big day, you shouldn’t be having this conversation. “Please tell me that you and Dad have already moved on from the idea of pairing me up with Jacaerys.”
When you and Jaceerys were little, Rhaenyra and your parents used to say that you two would be together when you grew up. Hearing so many times that you two would be a good couple, seeing how your friends started dating and the mix of hormones in adolescence, you and Jace decided to give it a chance during high school but you were only together for a few months before realizing that you two didn't see each other in a romantic way. When you broke up, your parents tried not to show disappointment. But years had passed since then and you wanted to believe that your parents had already accepted that you and Jace were just friends.
"I'm not talking about Jacaerys, I'm talking about…"
Your father fell silent as he watched the door open and Aegon enter. He watched intently as he seemed to freeze in the doorway, staring at you in wonder and when you turned to see him and your eyes connected, Joffrey was sure that for a moment Aegon lost his breath.
"Is everything okay Aegon?" you asked, causing him to regain his composure.
"Yes, I'm sorry, am I interrupting? I may go," he said, stumbling over the words, drawing even more of your attention.
A part of you wanted to end the conversation with your dad but you also wanted to know what was going on with your friend. In the end, you didn’t even have to make the decision because your dad made it for you, he said goodbye saying he would go check on everything with the organization, and gave Aegon a squeeze on the shoulder. Years later you’ll wonder if your dad was talking about Aegon and that’s why he left you two alone thinking that maybe you’ll magically change your mind or maybe your dad just left because he didn’t want to argue with you anymore. You’d never know.
You walked away from the mirror to sit on the armchair in the room and Aegon was quick to sit next to you.
"So?" you said, looking at him with a raised eyebrow, waiting for him to start talking.
“My father,” at the mention of Viserys, your mouth turned into a straight line, knowing that you probably wouldn’t like what Aegon said next. “Apparently there’s a family tradition where before the wedding the groom and his entire family drink a special whiskey. He insisted that I do too.” Aegon laughed as he heard you curse his father. “I didn’t feel comfortable being there.” He sighed and looked down at his shoes, feeling embarrassed for coming to bother you with this. “I’m sorry for coming to bother you, you must be nervous and I’ve got my shit. I should go” he stood up and barely took a step when you took his hand and pulled him back to sit down.
“Your father is an idiot but we already know that,” you said and you saw how your friend’s lips stretched into a smile but he was still downcast. “You are not a bother, Aegon” you declared squeezing his hand. “In fact, I am proud of you” You saw how he suddenly raised his face to look at you. “Yes, I am proud” you repeated wanting your words to stay in his head. “You could have easily accepted the drink but you didn’t and you walked away from that situation. You should be proud of yourself too” You smiled and warmed Aegon’s heart.
“Aemond is so lucky to marry you,” the words fell from Aegon’s lips without thinking and he felt himself panicking. The last thing he wanted was for you to find out about his feelings at your wedding. No, that would only make things awkward and the last thing he wanted was to lose your friendship and ruin his relationship with his brother.
“Oh shut up” you laughed as you let go of Aegon’s hand and gave him a friendly push as you felt heat all over your face. “Don’t be too exaggerated, any good friend would tell you the same thing as me” you said not realizing that your words stopped Aegon’s panic but in turn made his heart ache. It shouldn’t hurt him that you referred to him as your friend, he was more than grateful to be one but he would be lying if he said he wouldn’t like to be in Aemond’s place. He would like to be the one waiting for you at the altar but that would never happen.
Present day
“Come on, you have to admit that something is wrong with him,” Aemon said kicking a branch as he walked.
Aemon and Rickon took advantage of Baelon going to bathe to leave the cabin and walk around the forest for a while. Rickon could see that Aemon needed to calm down before returning with Baelon.
The blond kid turned around when he saw that his friend remained silent. “Don’t tell me that you like him”
“Oh, Aemon, don’t be jealous, I like you more” Rickon mocked, lightly pushing his body against Aemon’s before continuing to walk. “Just stop acting like that, your mom wouldn’t like you talking badly about your brother”
At the mention of his mother, Aemon felt guilty but also upset. Rickon was right, his mother had raised him to be kind and she would be disappointed if she saw how he ignored Baelon's excited questions about you, about him and the rest of his family. But you lied to him too. All this time he had a brother and you never told him.
“It just irritates me that he's taking it like it's the best thing that ever happened to him. Our parents lied to us,” he said, tugging at the sleeves of his shirt in stress.
“I think he’s just excited to know he has more family,” the brown-haired boy replied with a shrug. “You should try to get to know him. "Besides, now that you have a twin, I'm sure we can make great pranks if you cut your hair." By the sparkle in Rickon's eyes, Aemon could already tell that he had several ideas.
“I won’t cut my hair.”
“You’re boring,” he sighed in disappointment. “But seriously, aren’t you curious about his life? About what your biological dad is like?”
Aemon would be lying if he said he didn’t care to know more about his dad. You always told him random things, he was sure that any information Baelon gave him about his dad would be interesting. But the truth is what worries him the most is to know if his dad Aegon and his biological dad are brothers. Baelon said that his last name was Targaryen so that has to be his dad’s last name, because his mother’s last name is Velaryon, and Aegon’s last name is also Targaryen so they must be related because Targaryen is not a common last name.
His dad also lied to him, if he had known him since he was born then he also knew Baelon. Aemon wanted to cry.
“You should go back to the cabin,” said Aemon trying to ignore the lump in his throat but his voice betrayed him by breaking.
Rickon stopped walking and studied Aemon for a moment, who looked away embarrassed. “If you want I can give you a hug while you cry,” he said, opening his arms as if he knew the answer. And he was right because the other boy was quick to go and hug him. They stayed there until Aemon stopped crying.
When they returned to the cabin, Baelon was smart enough not to say anything about Aemon’s sore eyes and instead offered them Oreos.
“You don't have any peanut butter by any chance?” Aemon asked as he sat on his twin's bed.
“I don’t think so, he doesn’t seem to have the same ugly palate as you” Rickon scoffed but ate his words as Baelon pulled out the Oreos along with a jar of peanut butter from his suitcase.
“It’s a good combination,” Baelon said with a shrug and handed them each a pack before placing the jar in the middle and sitting back down. “Does mom like it too?”
“No, she doesn’t” Aemon replied. “By the way, I’m sorry I ignored your other questions earlier” he apologized and Rickon nodded approvingly at his behavior.
“It’s okay,” Baelon just waved his hand dismissively. “So how did you discover this combination? Because a lot of people think this is weird,” he asked before eating a cookie.
“Because it is,” Rickon muttered, and the twins pretended not to hear him.
“My dad made me try it,” Aemon replied without taking his eyes off the jar, as if the task of dipping his cookie in butter was something that required a lot of concentration.
Baelon looked at his twin in confusion and finished chewing. “I thought you said you’d never met our dad. Besides, Dad doesn’t like it either, in fact, he hates that my uncle Aegon made me try this.”
Aemon took a deep breath as if gathering courage before speaking. “Mom is dating someone and I think it’s your Uncle Aegon. My Dad,” he said quickly before popping a cookie into his mouth. Baelon looked at him as if he had suddenly grown another head. “Or my stepfather if you want to call him that.” The word felt strange on Aemon’s tongue. He wasn’t used to calling Aegon that.
“Do you have a picture of your uncle?” Rickon asked, stepping in to give Aemon more time to calm down.
Baelon looked at the duo of friends for a moment but realizing that neither seemed willing to say anything until they had the picture, he opened his drawer and pulled out several pictures. When they were gone, he took the opportunity to finish unpacking.
“This is Uncle Aegon,” he said, showing him the photo the whole family had taken during his grandmother’s last birthday and pointing to his dad’s older brother, who was standing next to his Uncle Daeron making horns with his fingers behind his head. “This is Uncle Daeron and the one next to him is Aunt Helaena. Then there’s our grandmother and well, our dad.”
“I didn’t know he had siblings,” Aemon said, looking closely at the photo. They all looked happy in a big hug and smiling. Why then did his dad never tell him about his siblings? He didn’t even expect him to tell him that his biological dad’s brother was, but at least he could have shared with him about his other siblings.
“So our mom is really dating Uncle Aegon?” Baelon asked, noticing that Aemon didn’t seem surprised to see Aegon in the photo, but rather to see the rest of the family.
“Honestly, I wouldn’t call it dating,” Rickon opined, earning a dirty look from his friend. Not because Aemon disagreed with him, but because he still didn’t know how to tell Baelon about Joffrey and that Mom was getting married soon. Maybe he was just worrying for nothing, if Baelon acted excited to meet him then he would surely like the idea of having another brother too.
“He and Mom are getting married,” Aemon said, and if he hadn’t gotten up to find his own pictures to show him, then he wouldn’t have missed the grimace on Baelon’s face." We also have a brother, his name is Joffrey,” he said now giving him his notebook with photos again.
But Baelon didn't seem excited. In fact, he barely glanced at the pictures before handing the notebook back to him.

Masterlist
Okay this is my 3rd time uploading this, because tumblr was being a whiny bitch. This turned out much longer than I expected and I'm already planning on writing more in this au. I combined book and show canon, although I kept the Velaryons as black. I also renamed some of Rhaenyra's children and gave her 1 more.
This is not team green friendly or kind to Alicent. At all. Reader is a petty bitch who adores his wife and whose love language is murdering their enemies in various secret ways.
Warnings include murder, forced infertility (Viserys), Rhaenyra and Reader scheming for the throne.
You're the oldest son of Rhaenys Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon. Greatness is in your blood.
You're proud - how can you not be? You're the oldest son of the Sea Snake and The Queen Who Never Was, the heir to High Tide and the next Lord of Driftmark. You're the second rider of Silverwing, after Queen Alysanne. You are cunning and clever - everything your parents could wish for in a son. You have a lot to be proud of.
After fighting in the Stepstones and being knighted, you emerge as one of the chief candidates for Rhaenyra's hand.
The brothel incident still happens in this au and Rhaenyra still sleeps with Criston.
When your betrothal is announced, you both agree to do your duty. And although you aren't Daemon or Criston, you are still handsome and a warrior. Doing her duty will not be difficult for Rhaenyra.
You quickly fall in love, much to both your surprise. Rhaenyra falls first, your loyalty and ferocity in defending her sneaks past her defences.
You fall harder, her wit and hidden darkness, the type that matches yours, pulls you in. Her soul speaks to yours and feels familiar on some level.
By the time Jacaerys is born, you're incredibly happy and in love with each other.
Your darling boy is quickly followed by Lucerys, Baelon, Aegon, Gaemon and eventually (after a few years) your twin daughters Visenya and Aemma.
Your royal apartments are rarely quiet because of your children. They adore their mother's hugs, love to hang off your shoulders and follow you both around the Red Keep like little ducklings.
Being the best dressed couple in Westeros. Rhaenyra likes it when you match and often coordinates your outfits to do so. Sometimes it's matching her dress to your doublet, other times it's more subtle like you wearing ruby beads in your locs to match the precious stones in her bodice. It makes her feel like you're on a team and she knows you feel the same way, judging from the little smirk and raised eyebrow you give her when you see her and the maids going through your wardrobes.
You and Rhaenyra love to gossip together. It mainly happens in bed after you make love. She tells you the latest rumours her ladies in waiting told her and you reveal the scandals you heard from your manservant and squires.
You encourage her to be more visible to the common folk. You know that if she has their love, then any attempts to usurp her will fail. Your little family becomes regular fixtures in King's Landing as you explore the city and restart Queen Alysanne's charitable ventures. Rhaenyra starts heading sessions for women to raise any issues.
You know it's working when you hear people talking about the Realm's Delight and the Sea Dragon and praising your efforts in improving their lives.
The sight of you both racing your dragons high in the sky is a frequent occurrence. It started as a way to unwind after the small council meetings. As your family grew, your children joined in, strapped into yours or Rhaenyra's saddles. When they grew old enough and their dragons were big enough, they followed you on theirs.
Dividing your time between Dragonstone and the Red Keep, although visits to Driftmark are also regular events.
Laenor frequently pops in to visit and spoil your children.
Corlys and Viserys both compete to be the favourite grandparent, but you and Rhaenyra know that Rhaenys is the real favourite. For the sake of peace, you won't reveal it.
Despite Daemon and Laena staying in Pentos, you keep up a regular correspondence with them. You even arrange to meet in Driftmark with your children a few years into your marriage. Your children bond quickly, while the adults watch on and tell stories.
Being married to the heir to the Iron Throne isn't easy and there are many people who would see that Rhaenyra never becomes Queen.
As her consort, you consider it your duty to make the path easier for her.
Your first victim is Criston Cole. After murdering Joffrey Lonmouth, you expect him to get punished. The news of Queen Alicent accepting him as her sworn sword leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, particularly when you have to break the news to Laenor.
Along with your pride, one of your greatest attributes is how protective you are of your loved ones. Joffrey was Laenor's lover as well as one of your good friends.
It takes a little while to plan, but one day gossip erupts about Criston being found drunk in a brothel that's particularly debauched, even by the standards of King's Landing.
You seize your chance and tell your goodfather that perception is important, that such a knight like that cannot be allowed to guard the royal family, especially the Queen. Viserys ignores Alicent's protests and Criston is gelded and sent to the Wall.
Speaking of Viserys, you know that any sons he has will be pitted against your wife.
You also know that his health isn't very good.
You decide to help him by giving him a tonic that your mother swears by, along with some lotions and creams. "Two drops of this with your morning meal every day and you'll soon feel better, Your Grace," you persuade him. "And wouldn't it be wonderful if you could meet your future grandchildren?"
Your father told you once you could sell water to a fish, such was the power of your silver tongue.
Viserys' health does improve after taking the tonic and the lotions that are massaged into his skin fix most of his pains.
However you failed to mention that the tonic and lotion both have herbs which cause infertility if used over long periods of time. Your mother only uses the tonic, and does so sparingly.
Viserys and Alicent only have Aegon and Helaena as a result of your actions.
You and Rhaenyra work hard to charm lords and ladies to support your cause.
You go on progress across the realm, flattering and courting all the noble families you meet.
It quickly becomes known that to be one of Princess Rhaenyra's ladies in waiting is a boon for attaining a fortunate marriage. In turn, you surround yourself with ambitious lords and their sons who want to advance their own interests.
It's a delicate dance, but you were taught how to make alliances by your parents, plus your charisma and ability to speak to anyone makes you one of the most popular members of the royal family.
Any attempts Alicent makes to gain allies for her son are countered by you and she can't stand you.
She tried to make Rhaenyra bring Lucerys to her when he was born, but you shut that down. "I wasn't aware that the Queen was in such poor health that she couldn't come herself to meet the newest member of our family," you say with a mocking smile. "The King is already coming to meet his grandson and I'm sure he would wish for Her Grace to join him." The sour look on the Queen's face when she finally arrives, only to find Viserys holding your baby boy, is a sight you'll remember for weeks to come.
You're Rhaenyra's greatest weapon and she despises how popular you are. You weren't supposed to be this politically adept, your children weren't supposed to be that lovely and polite and Rhaenyra was not supposed to be the heir when Viserys already has a son.
She says so to Larys Strong, who decides to do something about it without telling her.
You survive the pathetic assassination attempt because of a loyal servant.
Rhaenyra finds out what happened and she is furious. When she finds out Larys did it? He's a dead man walking.
His body is found in a secluded corridor at the bottom of the stairs. It's fairly obvious that he slipped and fell in a tragic accident - the servants had only finished cleaning and polishing those stairs the day before.
You thank your wife for avenging you with a sapphire necklace and several rounds of insatiable sex that eventually results in your son Aegon being conceived.
Unfortunately Lyonel Strong takes this as his chance to resign as Hand and return to Harrenhall, something you and your wife are unhappy about. You will miss him and his unwavering loyalty and fairness.
You miss him even more when you find out Otto Hightower is returning to King's Landing to be Viserys' Hand again.
The return of her father emboldens the Queen, although you and Rhaenyra are more than a match for them, both during the Small Council meetings (which you are Master of Ships) and outside them.
Eventually though, you decide to take care of the problem, although your wife cautions you to be careful.
A year after becoming Hand again, Otto Hightower is dead. His health had been declining for some time, even before he returned to King's Landing, but the poison you'd had your spies slip into his furniture and clothing certainly made his end quicker.
You knew he had a food taster, so you had to be careful to make it appear natural. A quiet conversation with Daemon had pointed you in the right direction.
Although it appeared to be natural, you knew that Otto's last days were a living hell. A fitting end for such a man.
With his death, you recommended Viserys make Lyonel Strong Hand again or even name Rhaenyra to be the Hand, as preparation for her future role.
His decision to name Rhaenyra as Hand is one of the only good decisions he's made.
It gives her more experience in governing the realm, particularly when he starts to become more frail.
After several years of this, she is confident in her role. She will be a magnificent Queen and you're truly honoured to be her consort.

Did you catch one of the reasons why Rhaenyra didn’t believe her father changed his mind was “My father loved me” ah so she’s acknowledging once again that her father didn’t love his 4 other children?
It gave Driftmark “Thank you FATHER” all over again.
This overgrown ass woman has never seen those kids as anything but Alicent’s and they were treated by the whole Targaryen and by extension the Velaryon family- like outsiders.
Rhaenys’s little speech about “when it all began” doesn’t acknowledge that it had already began when their whole family decided to ice out a 15 year old girl who they knew was forced to marry the King. She wants to now talk about family and kinship but they weren’t treated as family because he didn’t choose their 12 year daughter to be his child bride. It already started with Rhaenyra and Daemon hating innocent literal infants and not accepting them into the family fold.
Alicent and Criston not caring for Rhaenyra’s sons are treated like a crime in this fandom whereas the treatment of the Green kids is widely seen as justifiable because of how they are as teens and young adults as if they weren’t just innocent babies and children before too and maybe if they had been treated like family then it what they’re going to do during the dance wouldn’t have been so easy for them.
I’m also really tired of the writers not acknowledging that Viserys was a horrible father to Aegon, Aemond, Helaena and Daeron . His unwillingness to to love them out of some loyalty to Aemma and Baelon, yet his willingness to keep making them is one of his if not his biggest flaw. Viserys is getting the treatment of a modern day celeb/politician who has done shitty things but died suddenly so people are now rewriting history. How do they go from Alicent telling Rhaenys that Viserys wasn’t fit to be King, it should’ve been her. From that moment in the script where she tells Otto that Viserys was a weak and his reign was forgettable and she didn’t want people to draw comparisons to Aegon and his father. To Alicent saying that Aegon is half the King is father was and Otto giving Viserys credit for his, Lionel’s, the small council and Alicent’s work?
How is Rhaenyra defending Viserys with her soul to Daemon as if she didn’t live a stones throw away from her dying father and didn’t give a fuck enough to visit him or tell him that she has had 2 more children until she needed a favor from him that sped up his death. As if he didn’t ruin her life by attempting to breed her Mother like cattle until she died?
gghgjghgjggjg the anons in my inbox are going off today!!!! not a single lie was told.
"Alicent and Criston not caring for Rhaenyra’s sons are treated like a crime in this fandom whereas the treatment of the Green kids is widely seen as justifiable" absolutely fucking this.

i think the biggest problem i have with the whole team discourse in f&b + hotd is that it isn’t just about which characters you like more/who you want to sit on the throne at that end; it’s that each side is fighting for completely different ideologies, regardless of one members personal beliefs. grrm could not have made it anymore clear.
team black isn’t just fighting for rhaenyra to be queen, they’re fighting for the monarch’s right to choose an heir, for the oaths they swore years before, for the complete opposite of precedent/tradition: the king’s word is law. team green isn’t just fighting for aegon to be king, they’re fighting for tradition, that no matter the words of a king being law sons will always come before daughters, that oaths are fickle and don’t matter. each side is in some way fighting back against what’s already been established for the kingdom, but the end goal is completely different.
we’re not given as much insight into why most of the houses initially sided with rhaenyra, but we do have an inkling into how the green council felt and acted, however. jaehaerys choosing baelon over rhaenys (against andal tradition, the king can choose his heir) is one point. the great council of 101 is another. alicent, despite being the leader of the council, is removed from the equation and shoved off to the side when it comes to swearing oaths of loyalty between the members on account of her womanhood. daemon being a second coming of ‘maegor’ (despite what we know would be a better suited title for aemond, but i digress) is also used. when discussing who would side with them the vale is automatically disqualified from the list, due to them presently being ruled by a woman, jeyne arryn. she doesn’t choose to fight for rhaenyra for the sole reason of them being kin, but because her own right to rule can and will be put into question if aegon steps over rhaenyra. because she is a woman. she does so in spite of her dislike for daemon (and his supposed maegor-ness) too.
even if one were to look at each characters personal feelings about the succession the fact of the matter is that rhaenyra is usurped because she is a woman. it’s stated almost blatantly multiple times before and during the war. the greens use scapegoats and smokescreens in attempts justify it (her ‘bastards’ chief among them, but legally her sons live and die as the trueborn children between her and laenor, with the reminder that septon eustace refutes this claim to begin with). even when she is killed grrm has her breast pricked to arouse a dragon that doesn’t want to kill her (and why is that?). aegon ‘wins’ against her and is king, but then why is jaehaera, as his last living remaining child not named his heir? why is aegon iii put ahead of her, despite being the enemies son? these are rhetorical questions. aegon had no plans to ever consider her his heir, he made it clear with how excited he was to marry cassandra baratheon and produce more ‘strong’ sons. his dragon (who had fought and bled for him the entire war) wasn’t mourned properly, he couldn’t wait to hatch a ‘new dragon, prouder and fiercer than the last.’ yet he wasn’t even capable of doing that in the six months before he too was killed.
it’s also safe to mention that grrm created an entire separate lore story, one that would seem to have no bearing on the original story unless you’re capable of understanding symbolism. the amethyst empress is usurped by her younger brother the bloodstone emperor, and the first long night ensues from this decision. rhaenyra (amethyst = arryn blue + targaryen red) is usurped by her younger brother aegon ii (bloodstone = hightower green + targaryen red) and the dying of the dragons, the very creatures needed to stop the next long night, are eradicated, along with the magic needed to hatch them and keep them alive (until). the war is the blacks (power, death, grief, rebellion, restraint) versus the greens (ambition, greed, jealousy, anger, wealth). the amethyst empress is important to the main story in the same way that rhaenyra is important, that snubbing the women (an integral aspect to the power the targaryens held) of house targaryen can lead only to disaster. daenerys is the key, the one to break the cycle and fix the wrongdoings caused by her ancestors obsession with power. mother of dragons, mhysa, breaker of chains, slayer of lies, daughter of death, the dragon queen, azor ahai come again, the prince that was promised will bring the dawn.
you can argue for technicalities sake all day, but there is a meaning to this story beyond the scope of rightful heirs. and it shouldn’t be shoved off to the side just so you can praise your favorites and hate those who go against them. it makes for a poor consuming of the actual story. fire and blood was created as a history book to expand on daenerys as a character. her family, what and where she’s come from, and how she relates to them. she’s the antithesis to every targaryen that’s come before her, a hero in her own right. the only targaryen’s we can say are radically important to dany’s story are the conquerors (aegon the conqueror with teats) and rhaenyra (the amethyst empress). i don’t know, just some food for thought.
edit: i have revised some of my opinions on this through a further reread but the gist of it is still the same.

Jaes's hen jēdar
God's of the sky
Twelve
Summary: Only a few months passed since the previous chapter but the year changed. A plot is discovered!
Masterlist <-previous , next->
123 AC Bloodstone, Stepstones
"Your Highness a letter from the capitol." Maester Roland approached you, handing you the scroll.
"Thank you, Roland." You said your thanks and the grey dressed man retreated to his wing.
"What is it mother?" Nymor asked trying to peek at the parchment, you chuckled at his eagerness.
"If you'll let me read I will tell you." He obediently moved away but waited impatiently.
"It is from Princess Rhaenyra." You announced skimming over the letters
"What does it say?" Nymor questioned, his need for knowledge insatiable.
"She will arrive on Bloodstone in a moons time, an important matter is to be settled." You answered a bit unsure of what the important matter is.
"Will Jace, Luke and Joffrey come too?" He asked.
"Perhaps." You mumbled caressing your swollen belly as you strolled with your second son through castle Bloodfyre. "Do you not wish to join Derran in Dorne?" You questioned
"I prefer to stay close to you, mother." He answered, and you couldn't help the smile that crept on your lips. You pressed a kiss to his curly silver hair.
The celebration for Aegon's six and tenth name day will happen in a moons time, half the realm was invited to castle Bloodfyre to celebrate such a joyous occasion. You were getting a migraine organising the whole affair, your pregnancy and constant tiredness didn't help either. Thankfully Daemon was a big help.
You walked with Nymor to the gardens, you could hear the familiar screeching of Aegarax, Gaelithox and Aerion's unnamed hatchling. The three baby dragons chased after one another occasionally breathing small bubbles of fire.
If the hatchlings were there it meant your sons were nearby. You walked to see Baelon, Vhaenor and Aerion listen intently to Daemon as two maids followed after them.
"Husband?" You questioned interrupting whatever Daemon was saying.
"Wife." he answered and slowly walked over to you, your boys being the first ones to run to you. Except for Aerion who was held by Daemon, the boy was almost one already.
"What were you telling them?"
"A story of their grandfather." He responded pressing a kiss to your lips, Aerion making a dissatisfied noise.
"Did you enjoy your fathers story?" You asked Baelon and Vhaenor who nodded quickly busy with talking to Nymor. Your second son eagerly answering their questions.
"Rhaenyra will arrive soon." You stated, glancing at your husband.
"Hmm? Whatever for?"
“She didn’t say. Only that an important matter has to be discussed.” You murmured.
“You’re as thick as thieves I’m surprised she didn’t tell you.”
You hummed agreeing to Daemon’s words. Your sons scurried off elsewhere leaving the two of you alone.
“How much will her visit cost us?” Daemon suddenly asked.
“I’m not sure, she didn’t specify as to who will accompany her. I think it is a rather discreet matter, a big entourage would prove to be a hassle. Why?”
“I have been going over the books regarding our spending. The port is doing well, the trade is blossoming but the cost of building a castle is still quite large.”
“Has dragon fire not reduced the costs enough all ready?” You questioned.
“That’s not the issue, the issue is gathering materials. We live on a group of islands where stone is most common. Shipping wood is a rather costly and tedious.”
“Then we plant trees.” You answered
“Those will not grow in time, my love.”
“I know but it’s a start. We are poorly defended with a half done castle.”
“Bloodstone is the heart of trade now a days, perhaps we could indulge in fine exotic goods.”
“Such as?”
“Dragon scale or teeth. Merchants, Essosi princess would pay good money for such a rare item.”
“Perhaps… and how do you believe we collect these rare items.”
“We have five hatchlings as of now, they grow therefore loose scales and baby teeth.”
“Yes, baby teeth. But perhaps you’re right. I’ll see to it.”
“No, my wife. You should not strain yourself.” He said firmly a loving gaze in his violet orbs. He placed his large warm palm on your flat stomach. You rolled your eyes.
“I’m not pregnant, Daemon.”
“Not yet, but soon.”
“And how would you know that?” You quirked a brow at him.
“Call it father’s intuition.”
You chuckled at his words. He intertwined your arms together and you strolled through the castle gardens.
“Your Highness, a letter from Dorne.” One of your maids bowed and handed you to folded parchment. You nodded your head and dismissed her.
You carefully broke the orange seal and read. So many letters in one day you thought.
“What is it? Does Darren want to return home?” You stayed quiet reading the letter one more time. “My love?”
“Darren is sick, Maron writes that he suddenly fell ill and is has not woken.” You breathlessly said your fingers covering your lips. Fear overtook your body.” I should not have let him go to Dorne… I have to go.” You said and begun walking in the direction of your chambers. Daemon trailed after you.
“y/n Darren is strong. He will be fine.” He tried to reassure you
“You don’t know that!” You silently shouted stopping. “He is my son! He is just a boy, what if he doesn’t get better. I need to go to him.”
“He has the blood of the dragon a simple illness will not take him away. Our blood is immune to normal diseases.”
“He is half Rhoynish, and do you not remember the shivering sickness? The one that took little Daenerys and killed half the realm?”
“I- I will watch over the children.” He finally relented
“Thank you…” You quickly kissed his lips and resumed the walk to your chambers.
You changed into a bronze and black riding leathers, and quickly departed to find Vermithor.
…
Sunspear looked serene from above. Merchants, artisans, farmers and other small folk filled the streets. The old Palace stood grand in the middle of the bustling city.
The sun high in the air illuminated the stained glass windows. Adding colour to the castle made of beige sandstone.
The bronze fury landed on the outskirts of the city, where he once rested during your time in Sunspear. A horse and armed guards were already waiting near the city gates.
“Princess y/n.” They bowed their heads and handed you the reigns to a beautiful white sand steed.
“Thank you, we must go quickly.” You ordered and galloped through the streets. The courtyard was mostly empty, Moran was already awaiting your presence.
“Good brother.” You approached and took of your gloves, letting Moran kiss the back of your hand.
“Good sister.” He answered “Darren is in his chambers.”
“When did this happen?” You quietly questioned, worried that if you were any louder your voice would betray you.
“Two days ago. The maesters are not sure as to what happened to him. He was fine and suddenly he collapsed.”
“My poor boy.” You whispered to yourself. “Have the maesters checked for poison?”
“No princess… Who would want to poison a child?” Maron was distraught.
“He is not just a child, Maron. He is the prince of Dorne.” You didn’t trust the maesters not even the ones who served in your home. You much preferred the healers from Braavos and Volantis. They were skilled and unbiased. The Citadel was in Old Town, it is dominion of Hightowers.
“Have any of the Essosi healers looked at him?” You questioned.
“No… The Maesters have said that they would do more harm than good.”
“And do you trust them?”
“To trust a man is a feat I think not many have achieved.”
“Do you trust me then?”
Maron looked a bit unsure at your questioned but nodded nonetheless.
“You were my brothers wife, you have two Dornish children. We are family.”
“Then as your family I advise you not to trust those grey rats.”
Maron was stunned.
“I will send for the healers that serve me on Bloodstone. For now I would like to be alone with my son.” You said as you approached the door to Darren’s chambers. Your good brother nodded and retreated. You entered the room to find a maester and few servants. “Out. All of you.” You ordered voice ice cold.
“Your highness, if you would give me a moment. I have not finished the treatment.”
“I do not care, leave.” You ordered, the elderly man hesitated but left after offering a small bow.
Tears danced in the corners of your eyes as you looked at Darren. His sun kissed skin was now sickly pale, you could see his chest moving up and down very slowly. As if the act of breathing brought him pain. You kneeled at his bedside and took his frail hand in yours pressing it to your forehead.
“My son.” You whispered tears choking your throat “My boy… What have they done to you?”
You were not a religious person by any means. The only gods you paid respect to were the gods of Old Valyria but in that moment, you would pray to any god out there. Preform a dozen sacrifices if it meant that Darren would get better.
“Mother…” He wheezed, your eyes shot up to see Darren’s misty ones staring back at you.
“Darren!” Tears streamed down your cheeks as you embraced his laying body. “Oh my son, my sweet boy.”
“Mummy” He cried “It hurts..!”
“What hurts tell me.” You frantically moved around him. He didn’t answer only stared with tears in his eyes and a pained expression.
“Sleep..” he croaked “Night..”
“What..?” You questioned
“Rat..” he slipped off to unconsciousness.
“Darren?” You meekly asked mulling over his words. “Sleep? Night? Rat?”
Was he poisoned? But by who and with what? You spent hours next to his bedside, hoping, praying for an answer.
You slowly rose from your feet and left the chamber. A lonely guard was standing in front of the door.
“Guard this entry. No one may enter until I return.” You ordered.
“As you command princess.” He straightened his back.
You slowly made your way to the maesters wing, knocking gently.
“Maester?” You questioned “I’m sorry for intruding at such a late hour but there is a matter of grace importance I wish to discuss.”
You heard shuffling and footsteps, the door slightly opened revealing the Maester.
“Your highness, how can I be of service?” He let you in into his solar. Various books and concoctions were scattered throughout the room.
"It is about my son." you answered taking a seat, the elderly man doing the same. "If i may ask maester where are you from?"
"A peculiar question, your highness." You raised and eyebrow and ushered him "I was born and raised in Oldtown."
“A magnificent city isn’t it? Never had the pleasure to visit.” You murmured.
“Yes, magnificent indeed.”
“Hmm… tell me what happened to your prince.” You ordered, the man furrowed his eyebrows.
“A terrible thing, the prince seemed to be fine lively and brave as he usually is. Then the other day he suddenly collapsed and hasn’t woken since.” He concluded.
“Collapsed where?”
“I do not know, your highness. I have tended to him in his chambers.”
“And you didn’t think to ask where he suddenly fell?”
“At the moment no. I think it was in the gardens.”
“You think?”
“Pardon me, I was quite overwhelmed with stabilizing the princes life to ask.”
“Hmm” You nodded fixing your posture in the uncomfortable chair “What do you suspect his is?”
“Oh it is quite difficult to tell, his symptoms are fatigue, headaches.”
“You’re a maester, tell me your diagnosis as of now.” You hardened your stare at the grey rat.
“I would suspect it is perhaps a sun stroke.”
“Thank you maester, I apologize if I have been rude. I simply worry for my son.”
“It is natural for mothers to worry for their children.” He nodded, you left his chambers. Your blood boiling, he is an accomplice he has to be.
For now you had to take your son with you. You were a fool to believe he would be safe here in his home. Dorne only recently and begrudgingly joined the seven kingdoms. The other kingdoms influence was scarce, especially the crownlands. The Dornishmen valued their independence above anything, that was proven during the conquest. Perhaps they feel betrayed by your husband and son who agreed and upholded the tract made with your grandsire.
Thoughts swarmed your head as you approached your son’s door. A maid waited by the entrance tray in hand.
“Princess.” The guard acknowledged your presence slightly startling the poor girl.
“Who are you?” You questioned not recognizing the maid.
“Celia, your highness.” You noticed she did not posses the accent that most Dornish had.
“And what are you doing here?” You approached the younger girl.
“I bring tea and medicine to the prince.” She quietly answered, you could see her hands trembling.
“Calm down, child.” You said “I’ll take this off your hands.” You tried to grab the tray but the girl evaded. “No..!” She said a bit panicked.
“No?”
“I-I the kitchens instructed me to deliver this to the prince myself.”
“And whose order in the kitchen is more important than that of a princess?” You questioned.
“Yours, your highness.” She meekly answered. You took the tray from her and the guard stationed outside his door opened it for you. Before entering you leaned into the man’s ear.
“Keep an eye on her.” You whispered, the man solemnly nodded.
You placed the tray with the medicine on the table. You raised the steaming cup to your nose and took a whiff. A rather sharp and irritating smell hit your nose. This was not tea, that much you can tell. You have dabbled in herbs and medicine in your youth. Often making concoctions for your grandsire and then husband.
If this were a poison it was rare and difficult to detect. You stood in the middle of the room pondering over the events of the day. You sighed and walked over to the door.”
“Bring me the girl.” You ordered the guard, he obliged and a few moment later a knock interrupted your thoughts.
The maid from before was slightly shaking in the guards hold.
“Do not fret, Celia. Come, sit.” You invited the servant girl to the table. The cup of tea still steaming.
The girl was squirming under your gaze, her gaze was focused on her lap.
“Are you Dornish?” You questioned, she slightly shook her head.
“No.” She whispered timidly.
“Where?”
“I am from a small village east of the Honeywine river.”
“Oh? You must be scared being in an unfamiliar land.”
She simply nodded.
“Who sent you here?”
“My father is a merchant from Oldtown, we moved to Sunspear for better opportunities.”
“What a touching story, you must be parched my dear.” You smiled slightly “Drink.” You ordered moving the cup in her direction.
“That tea is for the prince, your highness.” She objected.
“The prince is unconscious. He will not mind.”
“I cannot it would be improper of me-“
“Improper? As much as refusing an order from the princess of the realm”
“N-No”
“Drink.” You now ordered the smile disappearing from your lips. The girls eyes widened, her breath became more rapid.
She tried to steady her breath as she stared at the teacup. After a moment she took it in her hand. “I am not t-thirsty, you highness. You sent her a cold stare. She obliged and pressed the cup to her rosy, slightly parted lips.
Once the liquid was to flow through her throat she slammed the cup on the table.
“I-I cannot, I’m sorry.” Tears flowed through her nervous eyes. She hiccuped pressing her head in her hands.
“What’s in the cup?” You questioned roughly grabbing the girl by her hair and making her look at your face.
“Poison.” She wailed.
“What kind?!”
“Nightshade..! I’m sorry!”
“Who gave you the order?!” You shouted at her tightening the grip on her locks.
“There w-was a man in the kitchens! He gave me the tea and told to deliver it to the prince!”
“More!” You ordered searching for answers in her eyes.
“I do not know!”
“Say or I will feed you to fire! You tried to kill my son! A boy of only three and ten! Your prince!”
“I did not mean to.” She cried and wailed stumbling over her words.
You let go of her hair.
“Guard!” You ordered, two men walked in “Bring everyone working in the kitchens out in the courtyard.”
“Princess it is night-“
“Now!”
The two scurried off and nodded.
“You will tell me who gave you the poison meant to kill my son.”
She quickly nodded, groveling on her knees.
You stared from the balcony as the guards gathered every worker from the kitchens. The girl, Celia was standing next to you.
“Show me.” You ordered. The girl nodded and scanned the crowd. Her finger pointed towards a man, tall and rather skinny. You nodded at the guards and they took the screaming and trashing man to the dungeons.
From the corner of your eye you beckoned a knight over.
“Make sure the Maester doesn’t leave his chambers.”
He bowed and left, his armor rattling with every step. You handed to girl to another knight. You will questioned the both of them in the morning. For now you needed rest.
…
You stared with disdain at the man before you, kneeling and chained.
“Name.”
“Harrold.” He answered, his confidence not wavering.
“Were you the one to poison my son? Your prince.” You calmly asked, the man shook his head and you nodded at the dungeon master. He took a step forward in his hand were heavy metal pincers. The burly man grabbed Harrold’s hand and with the pincers he grabbed his nail and pulled. The man wailed in pain.
“Will you tell the truth now?” He cried and cried.
“Y-yes!” You nodded at the dungeon master to remove another nail.
“That was for admitting that you were lying before. Now speak!”
“I received the money, order and poison from a man. I-I don’t know what he was called. He just said he serves in the red keep!”
“And the girl? Celia?”
“She’s just a servant!”
“And the man, tell me more!”
“I-I do not know!” Another nail another scream.
“Who was the man?!” You demanded.
"I don't know! He just gave me the poison!"
"No ordinary man can afford such a poison... or make one!" You nodded at the dungeon master to remove another nail.
"T-The maester!" He finally screamed out in pain.
"What of the maester!?"
"He m-made the poison! A man just gave it to me!"
“What was he wearing?”
“A-a cloak!”
“What color?!”
“G-green.” He croaked out, and it is as if time stopped.
Green
…
A fortnight passed and Darren begun waking up more and more. His strength was coming back, the color in his face and eyes as well.
You watched with fondness as he devoured a duck roasted in honey with potatoes on the side. A cup of honey milk in a cup next to him. A food taster was now present for every meal he ate.
“Mummy, are you well?” He asked.
“I should be the one to ask you that, my love.” You mused placing a spare strand of brown hair behind his ear.
“You’re pale, and you do not eat.”
“I simply am worried for you.”
“Really? You look like this every time you’re with a babe.”
His words stunned you, and then you thought. You were not missing your moon blood, not yet anyway. You felt fine, tired but you wrote of the tiredness as a result of your son’s poisoning.
“We will return home soon. Once you get strong enough.”
“I am strong enough! I want to see Aegon and Nymor and the rest of my siblings.”
“I shall think about it.”
But he was right, there was no point in keeping him in Sunspear. He would be much safer on Bloodstone.
“Your highness!” A guard burst through the doors to your son’s chamber. You frowned worried. “A dragon spotted a few leagues away from Sunspear.”
“What did the dragon look like?” You questioned.
“Golden.” The guard answered.
“Aegon...” Darren whispered hopefully. You sighed deeply palming your forehead.
“You stay here, I’ll retrieve him.” You sighed standing up and leaving his chambers. You could hear the flapping of wings and the familiar screeches of Sunfyre above the city. Vermithor bellowed glancing up at the sky.
To your surprise Aegon was not the only person riding Sunfyre.
“Nymor.” You stated a bit on edge “What are you doing here? Aegon Sunfyre is too small to saddle two people.”
The two boys jumped from the dragon and your son jumped into your arms, Aegon following.
“We heard that Darren is sick, mother. I had to see my brother.” Nymor answered a bit harshly, which was unusual for him.
“He is fine now, and you Aegon?”
“Darren is my friend.” He murmured avoiding your stern gaze.
You sighed deeply. “Very well. Come along now."
You stood in the doorway watching your sons reunite. Nymor flung himself on Darren's bed, round cheeks stained with tears. Aegon on the other hand stood next to the bed, his hands awkwardly put behind his back.
"Derran!" Nymor cried, his elder brother chuckled and caressed his curly silver locks.
"Im alright, brother." He mused "Aegon, I-... It's good so see you." He awkwardly stated.
You raised your eyebrow in surprise. They never acted like this, they were comfortable in each other's presences, often skipping lessons together or being up to no good. You had to question them about this later.
"Yes..." Aegon muttered back, slightly sheepish.
"Mummy how could you not take me with you!" Nymor complained, freeing himself from his brothers embrace.
"I did what I thought was best. What if you have fallen ill? What would I do with two sick sons." You slightly teased.
"But he wasn't sick, was he?" Aegon questioned, you sighed deeply approaching Darren's bed.
"No, he was not."

Okay so what *would* the line of succession look like if it starts with Visenya??
well complicated because absolute primogeniture would change who is getting married to who. also disclaimer i am making all of this shit up. here are my thoughts.
- so assuming that as the eldest visenya still has to marry aegon out of obligation maegor is born as the heir from the beginning. earlier in he was in canon. aenys is rhaenys and ???s child
- since the order is switched i think it makes more sense to have maegor marry alyssa velaryon and aenys marry ceryse hightower. Judgement call for thematic reasons here: Maegor and Alyssa have Rhaena, the heir, and Viserys (this is Aegon uncrowned but Maegor will be naming his son after his mommy and not his dad come on.) Aenys and Ceryse have Jaehaerys and Alysanne.
- Maegor isn’t king for too long since Visenya lives forever. Viserys still dies after the birth of Rhaena’s twins due to slipping on a banana peel or maybe getting like Ivan the terrible’d by his own dad or something you know how it is with them.
- After Maegor dies, brief succession dustup where the more traditional southern reacher houses all back jaehaerys (half hightower, raised in the faith, male) over Rhaena but they lose their political momentum when Jaehaerys marries his younger sister and loses his “pure westerosi princeling” cred. Oops. Conflict resolved when Rhaena agrees to let Jae and Aly onto her small council, send one of her daughters to the faith, and betroth the other to some reacher family or another. Doesn’t matter because Aerea dies very young and Rhaella becomes a septa still.
- This leaves Rhaena in a bind trying to figure out which of her cousin’s kids to designate as heir. Kind of a problem since Rhaena never remarries and puts the succession question off until all of them are old.
- Alysanne backs Rhaenys, eldest child of their eldest child and bearer of Dark Sister.
- Jaehaerys backs Baelon and his son Aegon (Viserys I but in this universe since Visenya was king the function of the names Aegon and Viserys are switched) because he still hates women.
- This is already self-indulgent so I’m going to say bitter jaded elderly Queen Rhaena pivots at the last minute and backs Saera, Jaehaerys’ willful maligned daughter who miraculously returned from essos where her own Aerea did not. (she made it to the dragon pit and claimed Balerion in this one. just for fun)
- Dance of the Dragons happens earlier and has 3 major factions. Stormlands and Crownlands back Rhaenys, the Reach, Westerlands, and Vale back Baelon, and the Triarchy backs Saera. After that literally who knows.
#asoiaf#well i did have fun thinking about this#the function of the names aegon and viserys are switched and in a hundred years we get Daemon Darksister. btw#alysanne is a brunette in this universe also#valyrianscrolls#king visenya au

TG stans when Alicent, the daughter of a second son in Westeros whose fate was to either marry some lord and bear his kids or become a Septa, marries a king who treated her well and allowed her to have power and influence: Her dreams and girlhood were stolen!!! Evil Viserys ruined her life!!! She is justified in everything she does
The same TG when Rhaenyra decides to not force sex on her gay husband and Laenor willingly accepts her sons with another man as his own and keeps it between them and their family: Rhaenyra is an entitled whOrE and her children are bastards and their official father Laenor's words don't matter. Muh Alicent's rapist son deserves the throne because he has a cock.
They are really selective when it comes to applying modern values, aren't they? When it comes to poor Alicent and her sons, the context and norms of the fictional world are all forgotten but when it comes to Rhaenyra and her sons, they all become raging medievalists in a way that would put the average Westerosi to shame. Or maybe this show has done a number on everyone's critical thinking skills.
And as for Viserys not 'loving' Aegon, I find it really funny that for the stans, as well as for Alicent and Aegon on the show, Viserys could have proved his love in a definite way only by naming Aegon heir. As if doting on his son for as long as his health permitted him, watching over him and shielding him from the consequences of his actions weren't out of love. But just because Viserys didn't remove Rhaenyra as heir, we are supposed to believe that he didn't love or care for his other children. Isn't it plain entitlement on the part of Alicent and Aegon?
Now, if Baelon had lived, Viserys had still married Alicent and Aegon was still the spare, just not to Rhaenyra but to Baelon but still coveted the throne, he would be called entitled and greedy and rightfully so. Even if Baelon had been a useless Crown Prince, Aegon would be expected to stay loyal to him.
Funnily enough this is exactly what we are witnessing in real time with the shocked Pikachu face reactions from TG stans who cried character assassination and turned on Condal after Aemond attempted to murder Aegon. According to them, Aemond should have loved and remained loyal to his incompetent brother who cruelly bullied and humiliated him.
Now, why is it justified for Rhaenyra to be betrayed and usurped by her siblings but not for Aegon - who didn't even bother to learn the ABCs of kingship - and the hypothetical Baelon? The answer to this is the core theme of the Dance. Point that out and the TG will come up with their aggressive whataboutism and the usual monotonous points like, "All of them are bad anyway, no one deserves the throne, poison drips through, Team Smallfolk, blah, blah, blah."
Of course. Alicent was forced to marry a man she didn't love or desire, so she's a victim. Rhaenyra was forced to marry a man she didn't love or desire and vice versa, so she's a spoiled brat because she was looking for a solution so they could both be happy. It's logical. Right?
Aegon goes to brothels and sexually assaults servants because he's unhappy in his marriage, because Alicent forced him to marry his sister. So he's justified. Rhaenyra slept with the one man who wasn't her husband so she could have children (because you know, in vitro wasn't invented back then), so she's a whore. It's logical. Right?
A 15-16 year old Alicent who got married is a poor kid, but a 14 year old Lucerys was already a grown man, not a child. It's logical. Right…?
You can come up with more and more reasons to point out that TG justify certain actions only when it concerns their side. Similarly, they everywhere call for the fact that there are no bad guys in this war! Everyone is equally neutral (but TB worse), no one won, and everyone who claims that TG are the bad guys in this story have not understood the nuances of this complicated story, because it is not about Rhaenyra being usurped because she was a woman… Absolutely not. If Rhaenyra had been born a man and was the oldest son from her first marriage, and not the oldest child, then the story would be the same! Right…?

That's it. I've had it with these brain-dead takes
Rightful Queen:
Firstly, what the fuck do you mean when you say Rightful? There's no "Rightful" monarch in ASOIAF. There are only the ones who are elected as per the laws in which the Realm Functions. So There's only Lawful Queen or Lawful King.
Daenerys: Wasn't the Rightful Queen by blood, but by conquest (mass murdering an entire city that surrendered), but even then, she had contenders to the Throne in the form of her nephew. Her family was deposed through rebellion and they were in exile.
The throne no longer belonged to her unless she forcefully claimed it back. After Robert's death, the crown goes to Stannis, the next in line, followed by Shireen, considering Robert's children aren't his. But since all the legitimate Baratheons died and Gendry wasn't legitimized yet, the Lannisters covertly took the crown by continuing to pose Cersei's children as true borns (the children atleast took after one of the parents, making the argument for their legitimacy somwhat strong, Unlike Rhaenyra).
Daenerys took Kingslanding by force, decimating the city and it's populace with Dragon Fire and seated herself on the Throne. So yes, she has become the Lawful Queen by right of Conquest, all that's left is to eliminate the equally Lawful Contender to the throne, it being Jon.
Rhaenyra: Despite Viserys i (who was the younger of the two candidates, but got elected over Rhaenys who was older than him) naming her as his heir after Aemma's and Baelon's death he never really prepares her to rule in the future. He doesn't teach her the ways of Politics, nor does he reinforce the line of succession. He instead puts his daughter's claim in jeaprody and remarries, and sires THREE LEGITIMATE SONS. As unfair as it sounds, Westeros follows Male Primogeniture, the very system that made Viserys i heir to the throne over Rhaenys. As long as Aegon ii, Aemond and Daeron lived, Rhaenyra would always have challengers to the Throne.
"Half-Blooded" Murderer named Aegon:
Funny how TB thinks just because someone's Half-Targ (half inbred), It automatically makes them less of a claimant to the throne. Paternity goes a long way in Westeros.
Aegon ii is the first born son of King Viserys ii Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. He's the result of a legitimate marriage between two ancient and powerful houses. He was anointed by a Septon of the Faith, crowned with thousands as a witness. As shitty as his character is in the show, he's a more legitimate claimant to the throne compared to Rhaenyra and her illegitimate children.
Jon Snow (Aegon) being confirmed to be R+L=J in the show doesn't make him a "half-blood" by any chance. He's the Son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. The show states that Rhaengar annulled his marriage with Elia Martell, making Jon a "legitimate" (as per TB) contender to the throne.
There's also the implication of the term "half-blooded" used in the post. Just because Jon and Aegon ii are half Targaruen doesn't make them less of a claimant. It also sheds light on the Targaryen Exceptionalism that TB drinks like kool-aid. Anyone who's non-targ or is half-targ and isn't on the Targaryen side is automatically treated as lesser.

Question: Why didn’t Alicent Hightower call a Great Council after Viserys died, and just straight out committed treason and usurped the throne?
We have it on record that she made the suggestion months later, after Rhaenyra took King’s Landing. The question is: why didn’t she do that from the start? If she was so sure that the Lords of the Realm would choose her son, why didn’t she? It would certainly be easier to go about the correct/legal way of handling things as King Jaehaerys did when he called the Great Council of 101, wouldn’t it?
The answer is simple: the Hightowers were not 100% certain that the Lords of Realm would choose Aegon over Rhaenyra, as they did years before when they picked Viserys over Rhaenys.
That is the only possible explanation for why the Greens chose the dishonorable/treasonous way in order to get power for themselves.
Rhaenyra had many things in her favor, that Rhaenys didn’t:
1. King Viserys I formally named Rhaenyra his heir, while King Jaehaerys didn’t support Rhaenys.
2. The Lords of the Realm swore oaths to Rhaenyra. No one swore anything to Rhaenys. Oaths meant a great deal in those days.
3. Rhaenyra has five sons at the time of King Viserys’ death. When her father, Prince Aemon died, Rhaenys was pregnant, but no one of course knew if her child would be a girl or a boy. The Lords of the Realm have a much easier time accepting a woman in power if they know a son will follow. Prince Baelon was older, a known warrior, and already had two sons when he was named heir over Rhaenys.
4. Rhaenyra was married to the most feared/respected man in the Realm, Prince Daemon Targaryen. The only people who truly hated Daemon were the Lords in the Red Keep. Many others across the Realm respected him, especially for his work in the Stepstones.
5. Both Rhaenyra and Daemon were adored by the smallfolk, and that’s a fact. Rhaenyra was the “Realm’s Delight” and Daemon was “Prince of the City” and “Lord Flea Bottom”. Daemon had gained many friends in King’s Landing, even those in dark places. He had the necessary influence.
So, yeah, how could the Greens do the “right thing” and call a Great Council when they knew that things would most likely not go their way?
Their suspicions proved to be correct later on, when Rhaenyra was supported by the great majority of the Realm, namely 53 Houses (and the largest territories with the most powerful armies), while Aegon only had 28.
And certain people are still under the impression that the Realm has a hard time accepting a woman in a position of power. How can that be when Lady Jeyne Arryn is living, breathing proof of a woman commanding the entire Vale, and one of the most powerful armies in the Realm?
