I personally find it kind of hard to believe that Elise and Hunson were ever a couple, it doesn't make any sense to me, I just can't see these two in love.

So, what if Marceline wasn't always a demon? What if Elise got pregnant from a regular human, but the guy left or died or something, and Elise's pregnancy was a risky one, or Marceline was born as a human but got really sick, so Elise found out about Hunson and made a pact with him to save Marcy and he did it with the condition that she would become his successor and that's how he became her father?

That would be one way to explain why she got so scared when she saw Marceline using her powers.

Also, Marceline was raised in a trailer appearently in the middle of nowhere, and when they show the pictures of her and her mom at the beach there seemed to be no one around either, so I guess it's not far fetched to say that Elise kept Marceline somewhat hidden from people (probably for their own safety).

Dinner is served as you sit on your throne. August shifts you at an angle so your legs are across his, your arm nestled against his torso. He keeps an arm around you, his hand firmly on your hip, as his other reaches to the table. 

You feel like a child. That is likely his intention. He wants to make it clear that he owns you. Not just for yourself but for every watching eye. This is the final stone in the wall. He has taken everything from the old boss, down to his very daughter. 

He picks up a crab cake and hovers it before you. You stare at the gourmet hors d’oeuvres. He growls but you don’t wait for him to give the order. You take a bite and chew tightly. You’re mortified as he eases back and finishes it himself. 

He continues to feed you, eating in turn. 

“Pate is... disgusting,” he crushes the fork into the meat. 

You’re silent for a moment. You realise you need to say something. The audience cannot see you freeze in the storm of your circumstance. As he said in the car, you must play along. 

“A bit bland,” you agree. 

“What do you prefer?” His hand slips up to the small of your back. He tickles the satin and toys with the tightly bound laces. “The crab or the quiche?” He points with the fork to each as he speaks. You’re not sure if he genuinely cares. 

“The quiche. The spinach not the mushroom,” you answer. It’s strange, as if you’re sat at lunch with your month discussing the seasonal dishes and which you’ll get again. 

“Spinach not mushroom,” he repeats thoughtfully. 

Shortly, the appetizers are replaced with the entree. August brushes his hand up your arm and lean forward. He takes a deep breath. 

“You smell nice. Jasmine.” He remarks. 

He guesses correctly. Your perfume is Burberry. Your father would by you bottles from London. You push away his memory. 

“Thank you, August.” 

You catch a hint of his cologne. Rich and luxurious but you can’t pick out the specific scent, though you know which is his own. He squeezes your side and gestures with an open hand to the plate. You take his meaning without question. Your turn. 

As you lift the fork and knife, you grip the latter tightly. You haven’t the heart even if you entertained the fanciful whim for vengeance. You cut into the filet mignon and juices gush from the medium rare meat.  

Your eyes wander for an instant. They find your mother, sat in the nest of snakes with their painted lips and spiraled curls. She stares back grimly and nods. You must keep going. 

You turn to offer August a morsel of steak. It’s awkward. He sucks it off the fork and hums. 

“Very good, though I prefer rare,” he intones. 

You cut another piece and offer it again. He wraps his large hand around yours and aims the fork toward your own mouth. You take the steak off the tines and chew. It’s delicious, though a peppercorn nips at your tongue. 

He reaches past you again. He takes the flute of champagne and offers it to you first. You sip as he watches. You’re overly aware of his blazing eyes. They are so blue that each time you look into them, you feel as if you might drown. He finishes the glass in a deep gulp. 

A server is quick to come forward and fill it. You slice more off the steak. He patiently waits. You continue the meal as such. Creamed potatoes with truffle and long stems of white asparagus with the steak. Your appetite remains latent so you swallow it all down into a pit of unease. 

You finish and he clears his throat. He taps the corner of the cloth napkin. You take it off the table. You wince. It sinks in how demeaning the whole seen is. You are subservient to him completely. 

You dab his lips with the napkin. His gaze startles you as his eyes flicks down and he watches. He hums and moves your hand away from his mouth. His hand snakes up your back to your nape and he pulls you to him. 

He crushes his lips to yours. His tongue invades your mouth and the taste of champagne and pepper mingle. You tilt your head back as he devours you, barely able to breathe around his suddenly ravenous demeanour. 

He parts and heave a hot breath over you. Your heart is racing as his chest rises and falls calmly. He lightly caresses your cheek as he examines you. He tilts his head and his cheek dimples. 

“I believe we are due for our first dance,” he cups your chin, his eyes still on your mouth.

Pales tine’s Shadow

As a Palestinian myself, seeing the Dome of the Rock with Palestinians in Shadow’s debut game Sonic Adventure 2: Battle meant the world to me as a child. Palestinians have always been erased from the public. If you said Palestine, people would “correct” you by saying, “you mean Isr4el” and I have many painful memories of this erasure throughout my life.

Shadow has always been my favorite character of any media, and as a child, I liked to headcanon him as Palestinian because of the rare appearance of Palestinians in our homeland, his story arc (targeted and imprisoned by an oppressive military force for no reason besides their own personal gain, his grief and anger over his best friend’s murder, etc), and the silly idea that whenever he held a green chaos emerald, he was the colors of the Palestinian flag :)

The patterns on Shadow’s quills is called tatreez, a traditional form of embroidery from Palestine for women’s dresses and such. Many Christmas sweaters will actually use tatreez, but not many know of it because of the erasure Palestinians constantly face.

Don’t let them erase us.

OK I know submissions are closed for the season 4 blog but I just remembered an obscure game that I can not remember what the name of and I can think of no better fanbase to help me remember. Also fair warning I would bet this will be harder than the last one.

Ok so it was a mobile game that I'm pretty sure was removed from the app store like a decade ago. In it you played as a little purple dragon guy who ran a tavern. Here's a quick sketch of what I remember him looking like:

The gameplay loop was that you would make a food (by just choosing a food from a menu and it would cook passively. you could make 2 at a time) and you would recruit adventures by like spending food points and they would stay in your upstairs area and you would use them to fight monsters.

The gameplay was very VERY simple. All the food was just a number of food points and a tine to cook, so the hydra stew (the highest cooking time at 24 hours) or something was the only one ever worth cooking because it had the highest food point to time ratio. I think the adventures were similar where some where just better than others so assembling a team was as simple as picking the 3 adventures you had with the highest number.

Oh and I have no idea why I remember this, but I am almost CERTAIN that the game was made by Tapps, the people who make those [animal] evolution mobile games (I think they also used to make deer hunting games but that's beside the point). Unfortunately I could not find a list of every game they have made but maybe y'all will have better luck.

I loved playing this game when I was like 6-8 and I gamed on my mom's phone, but then she got a new phone and I couldn't find it on the app store. I've missed it ever since. So if y'all can find proof it existed I will be forever greatful.

a TEENY TINY ONE?? i'm not sure i can 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but here's what i CAN say:

calli had the original vision for all of mtyk from the very beginning of everything (premise, ending, final scene), which was inspired from a single "what if...?" scenario from our list on our brainstorming google doc from like summer 2023; calli had always had One Very Specific Moment mind for the ending-ending of the whole mtyk series... however, in the end, we didn't actually end up using That Specific Moment in the story (kris ended up changing it to SLIGHTLY MORE ANGST because we both like to suffer)

on that note, kris ended up adding like 15k words after That (Revised) Specific Moment oops sorry not sorry

pretty sure we've mentioned this before, but before any of the Heroes' Journey arc was imagined for the project (i.e., the bulk of act iii), calli had literally just written in the google doc: 'kris add jelsa adventure stuff here!' under "act III" header, and then a series of our whatsapp audio messages and brainstorming chats spawned all of parts i-vii oops 😂

kris LITERALLY wrote most of the entire mtyk story (parts i-vi) in the span of literally like two and a half weeks near the end of summer, and then together we relentlessly fine-tuned/proofread/edited/beta'd each part, week by week as we posted each to ao3; the whole time, we left the final part (part vii) unwritten until part vi was being written, to make sure we had the full scope of jack and elsa's journeys before writing any of the final scenes

once part vi was posted on ao3, kris started writing and fine-tuning vii in earnest; calli literally beta'd the whole "finished" final chapter and then kris had a stroke of inspiration like two or three weeks later and wrote 12-15k more words and calli had to beta the whole thing all over again 🤣

part vii is WRITTEN, and is BETA'd, and is FINISHED, and exists on ao3 as a DRAFT, complete with full author notes and end notes! as soon as the final part of the youtube series is finished, the final chapter shall be posted simultaneously and we shall click that little "Post" button 💕 all that's left is the youtube video! but kris and calli are in final year of PhD program/the first year of med school, respectively, and we are LOCKED INto career responsibilities this month, so we are hopeful for an ✨(early??? mid????) December final-chapter release✨
