Imperial Life Holo Contest: Ziost Winners!
Holography & Contests by The Editor
Imperial Life is pleased to present the first round of results for our inaugural Life Day holography contest, featuring the most fitting of subjects: the Imperial Memorial World of Ziost.
Due to the impassioned plea of our loyal readers, we have agreed to award First Place to two holographers, instead of one. While Ziost, in current form, is accessible via approved travel visa, we realize that the present desolation is a poor reflection of the memories, beauty, and lives of the millions who once inhabited our former center of Imperial culture just a handful of short years ago.
Therefore, Imperial Life has selected one holo from present-day Ziost, and one holo, drawn from personal, citizen holographer archives, of the Ziost we remember.
Imperial Life presents: Ziost, a World of Contrast
"Light Persists" by Ahuska
"My first visit to Ziost after the cataclysm will always haunt me. I don't think there is any number of images that could ever describe the feeling of setting foot on that achingly empty world, or the very real pain of simply drawing breath in the fresh Force vacuum that it was. I wasn't there intending to collect memoirs, but, while walking the barren earth, I looked up to see Ziost's sun framed by the husk of a tree, like both the tree and the light were reaching for something, and felt compelled to take this holosnap. I think I saw, in that moment, a memory of the life that had been, and perhaps a quiet hope that the life might yet one day return."
Ahuska, the Wolf of Odessen

"A Memory of Life" by A. Ada Ams
"When I saw IL's solicitation for memorial holos, I just knew I needed to make a risky selection. Yes, it's an old holo. No, there's no way for anyone else to take these anymore. Maybe that's unfair. But I couldn't see how the Ziost wasteland represents our home anymore. People need to be reminded of the beauty and the life we used to have there! There was color! Blue skies! The gnarled Ziost pine and the delicate pink Adas starflower! Red tundrite groundcover and white snowbobs! We had white and black vinecats and red and black reptavians that shone iridescent in the sun!
"So that's what I wanted my holo to represent. It was extremely hard to settle on just one, but I finally did. I wanted the focus to be on life. The starflower is the primary subject. The warrior statue and the high-speed rail are in the background, over the Adasta Canyon with its iconic stone pillars. You go on a hike outside the city and this was life. This is what you saw! Or it used to be.
"It was stark. It was so beautiful."
* * * * *
Imperial Life reminds readers that our contest is open. Read below for details.

They had to be taken care of. You know that.
[AUTO-SEND-PROTOCOL] Mentally composing this message in case I meet an untimely end on Ziost, which I now see is even more of a distinct possibility than when Vitiate first surfaced. The Republic has gone to war, possessed combatants line the streets of New Adasta, and you may very well like to kill me yourself. If my service here is cut short, know that it was ultimately life that I served. My own life, yes, but also Agent Shan's, Minister Beniko's, the Supreme Chancellor's, those of the millions in New Adasta and the countless masses across the entire galaxy-- even yours. If Vitiate wins, no one wins. Farewell. Agt. Rane Kovach.

Mother's Day is coming, so could you tell us more about Adasta?
Ohh it is! Let's see... Adasta was from a different clan of croctaurs initially, but fell in love with Gaspar during her travels. She was searching for a rare flower native to his area, one that Gaspar himself is very fond of.

Because I'm very partial and have a niche for Ziost sith, I'd love to read about some Ziost shenanigans, namely a teen El being a brat.
So much of Ziost to me is the old money vs new money even if Ziost is tech olderohhhhhh my god i was actually thinking about some Lucy and El hijinks tbh lol but just the one will be good for a quick ficlet
16-17, aka, right-before-korriban-kicks-the-crap-out-of-you-age is peak sith brat time tbh. Add that with El’s actual anger issues and it’s a good time.
warning: if you squint there’s some hints at drug use
She really couldn’t call it a homecoming since, she didn’t exactly have a home here anymore. But, in seeing the snow-streaked sidewalks, the light-outlined towers, the who’s-who of the Empire - as far as she was concerned - this was as close to home as she was going to get. She sniffed hard and wiped the pad of her thumb over her nose, as she lazed against the window of this luxurious speeder, watching the people below become more of a crowd, watching those buildings drip more and more with lights and brilliant neon art in the form of advertisements and skilled architectural design. She should have left the drab and sameness of Kaas City way before this, she doubted her “legal guardian” even noticed she was gone and as the sun set over the massive snowy mountains, knowing the people were going to be just as vibrant and varied as lights that would paint the city aglow, she couldn’t be bothered to care about them, or the big fight she had with her adopted older sister Zhaire, for a second longer.
It may not be a homecoming but the prodigal daughter had finally returned.
The best part about exile, well, “exile”, was that whenever you go anywhere, you’re the person they talk about afterwards. She’s back? Does her father know? Did she get smuggled in? Is she here to kill her father? All those kinds of fun little rumors. And for a couple of hours she can forget about how much she hates Kaas City, hates the rules, hates the people, hates how much it hates her back.
Whatever. At least here was way more fun.
It wasn’t hard to find people who missed her, sure it’s been some years but whatever gave people the excuse to have a good time they’d take it. Or at least, that’s how she remembered it.
The bones of the Empire were still there in Ziost, the formal culture, the courtly intrigue, the merit and echelons of society; but from the bones grew a similar body, not quite the same and certainly not here in New Adasta. The new gateway to the Empire, the booming, growing, city rich with modern wealth and a rare mix of culture. To a point. No one in the club might have been an alien, but there were definitely some waiting outside in the line she cut.
Linked arm in arm with a small group of: “oh, I remember you“s and “it’s so great you’re back”s, she finally could just shake off what felt like all her troubles and everything holding her back back in Dromund Kaas. The half-remembered faces, the tip-of-my-tongue familiarity of the people were good company, it almost felt like friendship through all the alcohol, music, and haze.
Stepping back out into the cold hours later was shock enough alone for a giddy laugh to bubble out of her. It was weird not to be used to the chill anymore. Maybe she was a bit drunk, and a bit more than that. At least she had the presence of mind to pull her jacket tighter around her and enough to keep her footing as her new friend collapsed against her. More than a friend. Sorta. Friendship got blurry when the girl smothered her laughter with her lips and she already had her hand up the girl’s skirt. Tomorrow she could think about her betrothed, now it was way better to think about kissing … Alana? Alissa? Alena? Aria? Something like that. She was way prettier too.
“Hey let’s take this to your place,” Ariana said, pulling away with a grin and started leading her with her hand up the street. The rest of the small group of fellow young “socialites” - she guessed Zhaire would call them - quickly fell into line, passing a etched flask of Emperor-knows-what between them which Elora snatched quickly and took a drink even quicker.
“Yeah. Like a big welcome home,” the boy that then took the flask from her said. She looked between them slowly at that, stopping dead on the sidewalk.
They all stopped with her. Well, they sure knew the pecking order at least.
“Yeah?” she fished through her pocket for a thin metal case. It rattled softly in part, muffled by paper within as she drew it out, buying herself some time in how she was going to approach this. She hoped she wasn’t right and she was just being paranoid. “Well I’m staying at a place down the street…”
It was one thing to be seen out with a notorious daughter of some powerful family. It was another to be close enough to be invited into their house-come-stronghold, especially when her parent was as renown as he was. Maybe they could even say they met the enigmatic and fucking horrible Elio Makiir, her father. She ducked her head low to save lighting a tip of a smoke from the bitter, chilling, wind that suddenly howled through the street.
“Well, that like, totally defeats the purpose then, right? It’s a welcome home party not a welcome hotel party,” Adina, the girl she just finished kissing said. She froze, if only for a second, before a hot burst of anger tore through her chest and she flicked the lit smoke at them, flame still burning and all.
“Fuck off! Find yourselves another fucking meal ticket!” She all but bared her teeth as she shouted. She made half a turn before a hand was on her shoulder. She whirled, grabbing by the wrist and twisting hard until a different boy was down on a knee and a yelp of pain from him turned into a scream as she felt bone pop in her palm.
“Touch me again and I break your fucking arms!” Her voice broke with the shriek. That same white-hot anger made her hand shake, some pull inside her finding a sick satisfaction in his pain and their fear, especially as they all skittered away from her like vermin, back to their club.
It was the hours between late night and early morning where time moved slower and faster, the sun didn’t yet break the mountaintops and the moon had nestled down in their peaks. Besides a few shadowy beings, shambling along in their own drunken or exhausted reverie, Elora found herself alone amidst the snow flurries and neon lights, panting hard in the effort to stomp out her anger’s flames. She felt hollow, rightly burned from the inside out with the illusion of what her memories of New Adasta was scattered across the ground.
The wind picked up and blew the illusion, her anger, and the snow flurries away as her sigh was similarly swallowed up.
Minutes later and perching on a guard rail at the edge of a chasm that led to the lower levels, Elora wrote a couple messages.
“Hey, I’m in town. Have any time for a friendly face?” She sent to a friend in the Tal Sivron’s.
"You can say ‘I told you so’ but only this once.” She sent to a sister back in Kaas City. It was as close to a “sorry” as Zhaire was ever gonna get.

So...after playing Ziost for years I discovered there was an area I'd never seen. I was trying to figure out why I could not find one of the walkers needed for the Aegis achievement, did some Googling, and the comments at Dulfy's were actually useful this time. So you know after you finish the showdown at the People's Tower and go back to the orbital station? When you approach the console again, you get this message?

Caption: Ziost transportation terminal: You notice a warning that planetary sensors detect a "planetary anomaly." A widespread crisis might be imminent. If you choose to investigate, further travel to Ziost's surface may become impossible, leaving any open concerns unresolved. That is - "if you haven't done any of the side quests you wanted to do, or want to look around again, this is your last chance before Vitiate eats the planet." I've never chosen the first choice, "Go to landing zone," because I've always finished the quests (well one time I forgot to go back to the crate for that speeder mission by the People's Tower, but otherwise...). Today I did. Entirely new area of Ziost appeared. There is a taxi here to go back to any of the other three areas you quested through, but it's intriguing in its own right.

Remember how Lana said in the story arc that Vitiate was staying around New Adasta? This seems to be an area outside of New Adasta proper - one rogue walker, but otherwise nobody is possessed. Just very frightened and trying to get off the planet.
You see civilians waiting to get on an evacuation shuttle that is right behind them.

There's a glimpse at Ziost's railway system, which looks a lot like the one on Dantooine, doesn't it?

Remember these two droids. HMC-10 and B-7G2? You see them in the Ziost daily area when you pick up the macrobinoculars mission. They're here too. The missing Aegis walker is here, but other than that, the only enemy NPCs are some random bogwing type critters.

I just can't believe that after all this time there was an area on Ziost I missed. It's a really cool one.

World Building Wednesday: Tyrrnith Zarmahan

B A S I C S
• Full name: Tyrrnith Latsor Zarmahan
• Gender: Male
• Sexuality: Bisexual, Polyamorous
• Pronouns: He / Him
O T H E R S
• Family: Two deceased parents, one deceased sister and nieces, one half brother (Aellisu) and one half sister.
• Birthplace: New Adasta, Ziost
• Job: Sith Warrior, Emperor’s Empire’s Wrath, Commander of the Eternal Alliance
• Phobias: None (unless there’s one for the Emperor. Valkorphobia?)
• Guilty pleasures: Has a soft spot for cooking
M O R A L S
• Morality alignment?: Previously Lawful Evil, now Lawful Neutral
• Sins: lust/greed/gluttony/sloth/pride/envy/wrath
• Virtues: chastity/charity/diligence/humility/kindness/patience/justice
T H I S - O R - T H A T
• Introverted/extrovert. While Tyr isn't completely antisocial, you're not gonna get much of a conversation out of him as a stranger. He'll do his best to act calm and polite, but most of his responses are limited to simple answers ('yes', 'no', 'not sure', 'interesting', ect). Even amongst his friends, he's not the most open.
• Organized/disorganized. Tyr does his best to keep himself focused and make sure nothing is misplaced.
• Close-minded/open-minded. Tyr doesn't go too far down either side of the spectrum. He's pretty set in his ways, especially when it comes to his views on the Sith and the Empire, but he's still willing to hear other people's perspectives.
• Calm/anxious. (formerly anxious). It took him a while, but Tyr eventually realized that he's more efficient when he relaxes his emotions rather than flail out wildly.
• Disagreeable/agreeable. If it has to do with the Sith or the Empire, that's another story, but in general, Tyr can be pretty pragmatic and doesn't hold too many strong opinions.
• Cautious/reckless. (formerly reckless) Same as Calm/anxious, Tyr is definitely more on the cautious side. He bides his time and observes every aspect of a situation before deciding to act
• Patient/impatient. (formerly impatient) Tyr knows that rushing headfirst into every situation never helps, even with Sith Philosophy. Sometimes, change needs to be slow and gradual.
• Outspoken/reserved. Tyr never feels the need to boast, rant, shout, or even raise his voice, unless he's REALLY pissed. Generally, he'll remain stoic and soft spoken.
• Leader/follower. Though it's not his core strength, Tyr is more than willing to take up a leadership position, whether that be an army on the battlefield or a political movement within the Empire.
• Empathetic/unempathetic. Tyr is not the best at comforting others, and he'd be lying if he admitted to caring about everyone's problems, but he'll do his best to remain understanding. Hell, once in a blue moon, he might even give you a hug and tell you everything's gonna be okay.
• Optimistic/pessimistic. Tyr knows the state of the galaxy isn't the best at the moment, but he'd rather make things better than complain about them.
• Traditional/modern. Tyr believes that everyone in the galaxy must adapt or die, simple as that.
• Hard-working/lazy. Tyr is a very work-oriented man. It always comes first and foremost in his book, aside from his relationship. If you're name isn't Krovos or Malavai, you're not gonna get far convincing him to take a break.
R E L A T I O N S H I P S
• otp: Tyrrnith / Quinn. Tyr and Malavai both had feelings for eachother, but never really expressed it. It took them a while to get there, (espeically with Quinn's betrayal), but after some recovery and talking things out, they finally got together following Makeb
• ot3: Tyrrnith / Quinn/ Krovos. Shortly after, Tyr reunited with his old childhood friend, Lord Krovos, who he dated back before entering the Sith Academy. It was just simple childish love, but after realizing she still loves him, and getting to know Quinn, she joined in.
• brotp: Vette, Jaesa, and Lana. Tyr has grown to see both Vette and Jaesa as little sister figures (he does have a biological little sister, but they've been distant), and Lana has always been his second most trusted advisor, aside from Quinn.
• notp: Tyrrnith and Valkorian. Aellisu joking that Valkorian might be crushing on Tyr was enough to trigger the latter's gag reflex.

I'm curious about Iomlan. Can you tell me about her? How did Corrian find her again?
Sure thing! She gets an introduction in my little companion sidestory "Notes from the Alderaan Enclave: A Crechemaster's Records" but her synopsis is below.
Basically - teenage girl loses her mother and father in a Mysterious Accident after mother has a Mysterious Vision in which Valkorion is overthrown. Teenage girl, who knows the vision but is keeping that record secret, is made the Chief Scion of Zakuul and serves under Valkorion directly for four/five years alongside Senya, which is a Great Honor. Valkorion then gets...involved with Iomlan, and a few weeks later she has a horrific vision of him abusing her future son. And that combined with her mother's previous Vision and suspicious death give her enough cause to flee the planet with her young brother, Eiri Greine (my Sith Warrior!), in tow.
She makes it to Ziost with some Force mind-tricks, hides her Force-sensitivity, gets settled in as a housekeeper and nurse for a prominent family of Sith Lords (Kalvonut's biological family, who are like...the Talos Drelliks of the Sith), and then discovers she's pregnant. And given the only possible father, plus her own powerful connection to the Force and the way the Sith treat acolytes...she freaks out over what might happen to her son, takes a leave of absence, and runs the fuck away *again,* this time leaving Eiri behind.
(Eiri has a Force breakthrough in her absence. Kalvo's biofam makes him their ward, and sends him off to study as a Sith acolyte in New Adasta)
She flees to Alderaan this time, and by the time she gets there she's ready to pop. Corrain is born - with the wrong AGAB, no less - but she *knows* the truth since she's foreseen it, so then she disappears again, leaving him with the Jedi with barely any explanations. She returns to Ziost, discovers that Eiri has been found by the Sith, cries about failing to protect him, lies about having a miscarriage, then asks for and receives permission from Kalvo's Sith biofamily to enlist in the Imperial Army, where she joins the Medical Corps.
She remains hidden there, even from Eiri, who resents being left behind as a child and refuses to talk to her, until the Shadow of Revan occurrence on Yavin 4. Corrain has an extremely powerful vision while he's there- one so strong it knocks him out, and he hits his head pretty hard when he faints, so, as a medic, she gets to see him to care for the head injury.
It's at this point that Raina Temple and my Imperial Agent, Elennye Trizz, notice her, and Raina as a Force-sensitive person figures out that Iomlan is being Odd around Corrain. Elennye (who has assumed command of the Star Cabal by this point and is loosely affiliated with the Sith) pulls Iomlan off to confront her about that. Iomlan tells Elennye that Corrain is her son without too much fight, then correctly deduces that Raina is Force-Sensitive (as is Iomlan). Elennye therefore brings Iomlan onto her crew to A) free Dr. Lokin up for more science experiments and B) to teach Raina how to work with her Force abilities
Iomlan spends the whole carbonite freeze time period with Elennye, right up until Elennye throws in her lot with the Alliance on Odessen, at which point she joins the Alliance and reveals herself - which is just about the time when Corrain's helping Gault raid the Gilded Star with Senya. Senya recognizes her when they return, Corrain recognizes her from the holorecording she left for him as a baby, and she finally admits to being too frightened to reach out before.
She doesn't play a major role in the story after that - and she and Corrain never really have a mother-son relationship, but they do become friendly, and he does eventually let her be Imeacht's grandmother properly - and mostly spends her time either working as a doctor and healer in Alliance medbays, or teaching the ways of the Scions she had led (which are a little more flexible on their interpretations of fate than Heskel's Scions) to young Scions on Zakuul and in the Force Enclave on Odessen.
Thank you for the ask! Iomlan deserves all my attention tbh she's a badass. She's a little like Senya, personality-wise - all business when she has to be - but she genuinely loves Corrain and Eiri, even if it has to be from afar.

Chril'lam'inar
Illami is Illitha's twin sister and was eight when her family was exiled from Csilla because of Illitha's Force-sensitivity. left behind by her mother, Illami was taken to Ziost by Ilvano; she grew up in the biowarfare lab her father managed, and made close friends with a young zabrak slave named Verok and his father, who became like a father figure to her. Illami began being subjected to experiments when she was an adolescent - not for biowarfare but for the lab's other, quieter purpose - and when she was fourteen, her access to the slave's quarters was cut off, shortly before Verok's father died. Verok had a Force breakthrough a couple of years later and was taken from the lab, and Illami remained there until she was around eighteen, at which point she discovered an anti-riot weapon at the heart of New Adasta while out exploring and was picked up by Imperial Intelligence, given the option to either join their ranks or die for what she knew.
full of a directionless anger and a desire to burn the Empire to the ground, Illami nonetheless complied, and though she'd never had any training before this, she rose through the ranks quickly, a natural sharpshooter and very good at putting on personalities. she ended up being made Cipher Nine, bonding with Kaliyo, and having a tension-fraught relationship with Watcher Two, or Shara, and drifting rather aimlessly until she met Kydra Adarii, Baras' newest apprentice, on Alderaan. the two of them bonded and Illami called in a favor to have Kydra with her when she confronted Jadus, and though the two of them didn't manage to kill him, they did wound him enough he chose to escape.
things changed for Illami when she was sent to infiltrate Ardun Kothe's operations' group. though he did originally activate the castellan restraints on her, he was convinced to change his approach by Orgus Din (who was alive and on Nar Shaddaa at the time for reasons i am not getting into here). Illami's heavily-suppressed Force-sensitivity was revealed and she was able to have a controlled awakening; she spent most of her time with Ardun's group struggling with Hunter, who knew her keyword and used it on her frequently, until she was finally able to break free and was shortly after sent back to the Empire. she tracked down the Star Cabal and dealt with them, ending up promoted to Keeper shortly after, and served the Empire "loyally" for several years. several of her secrets - including her true loyalties and her Force-sensitivity - were revealed to Lana on Ziost, and after Zakuul attacked, Lana revealed Illami's sensitivity to the Dark Council and put her up to be trained as the new Dark Councilor for Intelligence, before disappearing into the galaxy to search for the lost Jedi Battlemaster.
Illami ascended to the Dark Council shortly after Ktis Kressh returned and took over as the new Sith Empress, and took the title Darth K'imsi. she continued to report quietly to Ardun Kothe even as she rebuilt the Sphere of Intelligence and trained a new generation of Sith; she spent several years holding the seat until Darth Jadus returned and nearly prodded the Empire into a civil war, and Illami was able to escape with Shara and Kydra. she settled in on Odessen with both of them and is a part of Alliance Intelligence as well as lending a hand to the Sith Academy on the planet.

On Ziost
Lana: War has broken out across the globe. Our former Emperor, however, has limited his involvement to the area around New Adasta - near you.
Lana: I don’t think it’s a coincidence. It’s possible he isn’t as strong as he’s been letting on. It’s possible he’s worried about what you could do.
Smuggler: It’s pretty well known I’m a huge threat to would-be galaxy eaters everywhere.
Nice that the game sort of acknowledges how ridiculous it is that Vitiate would give a shit about the Smuggler.
#swtor#the choice says: Makes... sense...?#republic smuggler#basically all the non-force user classes have this issue but the bounty hunter and smuggler especially#i swear every time i go through ziost i find something else thats funny

You know the one thing that I find more exiting about Adasta: Cities (or however it ends up being titled) is, aside from exploring more of adastra’s culture, wich was slightly brushed but not really dived in in the main VN, is the chance of being able to get to know more about certain characters:
First is Virginia, she doesn’t apear until 1/2 into the story, doesn’t become relevant 2/3 in and we only learn the most basic things about her at the end. We really could get some interesting insigt on her.
Then there is Cassius and Alex, characters that, individually, we already know about. But we know so little about their relationship, or how they act and behave with eachother, specially when they are not under the spotlight and Cassius (mostly) stops putting up the act.
The triumvirates. We “know” them, but we don’t really know who they are and what kind of people (wolfs?) they are, getting to know them and exploring the alleged corruption that plages them could be exiting.
On the other end, I don’t think we’ll explore much Neferu or anything that could already be covered in Khemia. That doesn’t mean that he won’t appear, but I don’t think he’ll have much weight as far as the plot goes.

Some more about the Empire! More Sith culture! Some Sith philosophy!
So have to start this out by saying I don't agree with a lot of the writeups about the Empire not being as bad as it seems, it's worse. Maybe I'm just more sensitive to the subject, but beyond the cartoonishly evil moments, it is smarter and crueler than that as well.
The Empire is a massive machine that has worked thus far because it grew bloated in isolation while the Republic thrived. Even that kind of beginning will show just how the emergence back into the galaxy at whole should frame a lot of perspectives. It was and continues to be an insular society that prides itself on the ubiquitous homogeneity of who is given power. (Apparently both the Mirialan and Cathar home planets are a part of the Empire, you don't see a lot of them in DK do you?)
So, given this frame of mind! And the fact that it is Dromund Kaas is the capital planet of the Empire, not Ziost, I think she does feel ostracized from the start of her exile (around 13 ish years old), by being from Ziost which has more of the cultural heritage of the Sith Empire from ancient times that was then reclaimed. Further, it had New Adasta, which was the gateway to the Empire as well as where you go to trade with the Empire. So as she grows up, she already had more access to cultural history, that does not exist in DK outside of stories and the ability to interact with other people in this very tailored exposure to the rest of the galaxy, that doesn't exist in DK.
She's spent most of her life angry and frustrated at the Empire due to the restraints placed upon her by Sith and Imperial society in Dromund Kaas versus Ziost given, in some way, Ziost had to give the facsimile of being open to the rest of the galaxy, and could not be as earnest in its invidiousness as it is in DK.
So given this emphasis on actual Imperial history and ancient Sith artifacts, teachings, etc. She felt a connection to that aspect of the Empire more than anything. It's why she had her tattoos done in traditional way, scarification, venom, and all!!!
So then with that gone, so too was so much of the history and left her once again kind of listless and apart from DK. Thankfully hatred, rage, and spite are typical of Sith, because one of her biggest complications now is, how can she have a home -- or save her home!!! -- when she feels once more separated from what is forced to be her home again. It's a complicated relationship where she hates what the Emperor did to her home and by extension hates the Empire for essentially letting it happen, hates most of the people in charge of the Empire still, but is loyal enough to it to want to try and make it better. She has no home but her family, her friends, and the amorphous idea of the Empire that will be undone if the Republic wins.
Also I've always liked how she's played with the Sith Code. Ideally it results in freedom and there are understandably many interpretations on how to achieve freedom through power beyond the obvious one. I enjoy an interpretation that is more personal to the Sith, gaining a kind of self assurance and power and confidence in oneself will set them free. And to a point it does! Imagine living without such self doubt! She subscribes to it a bit as well as how it plays into how the Empire is a "meritocracy". She uses assets more than she destroys them, she's converted Jedi rather than killing them, and all of it still add to her power which leads more often than not, to victory. And at least by now she has proof of concept! Through those victories she's broken some of the chains that the most hated parts of the Empire had kept her down with.
But some chains just aren't broken like that :)
Also thought of having her apprentice be a fallen Jedi but honestly what Sith in their right mind wants a teenager (or anyone tbh) around who's planning on killing them?
tiresome!!!!!!!!
so she's trained some of her friends and colleague's apprentices
and her first real apprentice is her dottir Cosima!
